Book of the Week No.32 The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green Rate: 8/10 Favorite Line: "When you're living in the middle of history, you never know what it means." Review: The debut non-fiction book of John Green published by Dutton Books in 2021. 'The Anthropocene Reviewed' discusses about the random milestones in mankind's history, rated in 5-star scales from the lens of John Green. Overall, I had a fun time reading this book. John Green has done a lot of extra narratives and knowledge again which is what I like. This first non-fiction from him has a lot of personal observation as well from Green's oculars. A lot of general knowledge is embedded in this book and I have some few laughs with it as well. For me, I think it was just lacking the essence of why book is made. Looking back to all his fictions, it all seemed special in a way. It might be because I missed him writing those kind of stuff so that when this came, I have a lot of expectations which are not met. Anyways, I still had this special copy of his book, signed first edition. I love how personal for him to tackle the topics on this book and still this was a page turner. Notes: First edition copy. Page 39, Paleoanthropologist is spelled "Paeloanthropologist". #nonfiction #books #timeline #johngreen #theanthropocenereviewed #humanity #evolution #history #milestone #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #bookreview #booklover #booknerd #bookaddict #bookphotography #goodreads https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf0M8y4p7Hf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

It’s @bullybookclub review day, and July’s pick, from @artemisthebulldog, is @johngreenwritesbooks’ #TheAnthropoceneReviewed, for which Alfalfa and I give ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One of the lines in Green’s book amounts to something like - wonders are infinite, it’s our attention that wanes. And that’s exactly what I took away from Green’s reviews as he poured over topics from air conditioning to the Lascaux caves to Canadian Geese, I contemplated many of the topics he discussed far more deeply than I had before. The book is written as a collection of reviews on various subjects on a five-star scale. Put simply, the amount of fun facts I now know is off the charts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ll add that I’m a big John Green fan, I’ve read all of his novels. His first, Looking For Alaska, is in my top 5 eternally. In typical John Green fashion, the topic of mental health is woven into the majority of the subjects he reviewed, and, in my eyes, he always does it justice. He also spoke a lot about navigating the last few years, and I felt like reading this book gave me permission to begin the frenzied unraveling and processing of the pandemic, and all we lost. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I laughed, I cried, I thought deeply. As far as books go, that’s really what I’m looking for. And for that I give this book five stars. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ … All it was missing was a review of the tennis ball, Al’s favorite toy. He gives it five stars as well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @duttonbooks https://www.instagram.com/p/CgO9fr6O8HFWF8oPNg935rbjEkTdzIq0lWeX700/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I cannot stress enough how much this book has meant to me. But in the style of the book, I made a review about it.

Reading #theanthropocenereviewed and I was CERTAIN our capacity wonder would get four and a half - maybe even five - stars. Nailed on. But three and a half!? Mr Green, I no longer know whether I want to marvel at the certain beauty of a physical copy of this book! 😡 Jk. Buying a copy as soon as I get some money is literally in my diary. #books #johngreen #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CQfmw5rJnPx/?utm_medium=tumblr

The Anthropocene Reviewed is the first book I finished in a day in so long. It took me back to the summer of 2017 when I devoured all of John’s books reading for hours and hours on end. I thought I’d just read an essay a day, but then I couldn’t put it down. It was comforting and weird and random and a lot of what I needed to hear. Full review linked in bio from yesterday. #theanthropocenereviewed #johngreen #hankgreen #books #shelfie #nonfiction #essays #yabook #bookstagram #yabookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CPV4PGBrqXC/?utm_medium=tumblr

Words are magic. Two more books finished, and while I pause to let the thoughts and stories and details of The Anthropocene Reviewed seed in my brain and grow into more imaginings I thought I would offer a little star rating myself... Five Little Pigs: A tale that feels familiar yet keeps you guessing, that festers and grows as you untangle the threads. Simple and clever as I've come to expect from AC. I give this little piggy three stars. The Anthropocene Reviewed: A fusion of historiography, autobiography, social commentary, and Amazon review, this is a book that begins at low tide then sweeps you suddenly out to sea. It's the only work that will have you welling over baseball one page and Googling strangers the next. I give it four and a half stars. . . #finishedreading #booklist #booksandplants #plantsandbooks #tradescantia #theanthropocenereviewed #johngreen #dftba #nonfictionreads #murdermystery #detectivestory #anthropocene #booklover #bookcovers #bookreviews #bookishlife #readingbooks #readingchallenge #readingcorner #booknerds #nerdfighter #signedbooks #happylife #bookwormlife #positivevibesonly💯 (at Norwich, Norfolk) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPoCJZzHxhi/?utm_medium=tumblr

I like John Green and I know more about him that everyone that thinks he sucks
I have been following John Green online for more than 5 years now, and in that time he has become one of my heroes. He apologies when he makes mistakes, he responds to valid criticism thoughtfully and respectfully, and unlike many online creators he has remained aware of his influence and gone above and beyond to use it for good. His youtube videos have never strayed from the message that it’s important to imagine other people complexly and to never assume that a divisive issue is straightforward. He has made me think more deeply about the world around me, and given me a real sense of just how much about the world I don’t know. It is almost entirely thanks to John Green that I believe I can make the world a better place and intend to use every opportunity I get to do so. If you want to learn more about him, there are a few ways.
John and his brother Hank have a youtube channel that they have run for going on 11 years now. Find it here: https://www.youtube.com/user/vlogbrothers
John has 2 podcasts: One with his brother Hank, entitled Dear Hank and John, in which they answer questions and give dubious advice. Find it here and wherever else podcasts are available: https://soundcloud.com/dearhankandjohn/
His other podcast, The Anthropocene Reviewed, discusses and reviews aspects of the human-centric planet, particularly focusing on the way humans have shaped the current state of the planet. Find it here and wherever else podcasts are available: https://soundcloud.com/theanthropocenereviewed
John and Hank also run the company now known as Complexly, which is responsible for a startling number of educational online video projects, including Crash Course, SciShow, Sexplanations, Healthcare Triage, Animal Wonders, The Financial Diet, and many more. Find their official site with links to all of their channels here: http://complexly.com/
John also started the Nerdfighter Kiva.org group, a site which loans money to entrepreneurs in the developing world. The Nerdfighter group is currently the seventh largest lender group on the site, having loaned over $10 million.
He is also a co-founder of The Project For Awesome, an annual fundraising drive that has given millions of dollars to community-chosen charities. Last year the P4A raised over $2 million, and since it started in 2007 has raised nearly $8 million total.
TL;DR People who attack John Green could be using their energy better.

I still make cartoons! They’re up on Youtube right now! Lately, I’ve been trying to intentionally make images to be thumbnails on my videos instead of just letting YouTube pull a random frame from my video. It seems to be going well. Anyway, these are thumbnails from these videos: •Perry visits Doofenshmirtz one last time •Danny Devito or Danny Devito 2 •Just a normal video about Mary had a little lamb •She asked me what my biggest fear was •Bitch, hello #cookieheylookie #cookielookie #digitalart #film #filmmaking #instaarte #animator #tiktokvideos #myart #sketch #instaartwork #instaartist #framebyframe #aniamtionstudent #animationvideo #indieanimation #indieanimations #youtubeanimation #youtubeanimations #youtubeanimator #tiktokanimator #originalanimation #instaartworkoftheday #imagination #doofenshmirtz #perrytheplatypus #maryhadalittlelamb #dannydevito #theanthropocenereviewed #mrbean (at Tri-State Area) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFVea0hJmOV/?igshid=nk4kh5ao2yo

Today was another excellent book day with all my preorders catching up to me right as I finally have some free time. My plan for the next week is just to sleep, read, and recharge. After I finished up We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This (which is AMAZING) I’ll be picking up It Goes Like This (my most anticipated read of 2021 from a dazzling debut author) and the Anthropocene Reviewed (I loved the podcast so I’m very curious about the book). QOTD: are either of these on your TBR? I promise all of you that I’ll have a new review soon!!! Thank you for your patience as my life has been pure chaos lately. #itgoeslikethis #theanthropocenereviewed #hardcover #shelfie #bookhaul #bookstagram #yabookstagram #yabook #debutauthor https://www.instagram.com/p/CPMIb98LGTz/?utm_medium=tumblr
