Were We Just Watching It Wrong? My Thoughts on Soul Food
In the last few years, there has been a lot of people pointing out how Teri was never the real villain of Soul Food, and rightfully so. Teri was treated horribly by her family, and had she cut those leeches off and put several states between her and them, I would not only not blame her, I'd applaud her. Still, it's interesting to me that this is being treated as a revelation in hindsight. I have to put this on the fact that the people saying that they are just now realizing that Teri wasn't the villain were young when they first saw the movie- probably younger than Ahmad, the baby narrator. I know I was far too young to understand (or even be watching this movie) the first time I watched it. I just recently rewatched it as an adult, and I have to wonder...despite how her family treats her as the root cause of their problems, was Teri ever really meant to be the villain of the movie?
In one of the first scenes of the movie, when Ahmad, the narrator, is introducing the family dynamics, we see his mother, Maxine- Teri's sister- betraying Teri with her boyfriend. There is still tension between them in the present day of the movie, and the way that the family speaks about it, it's clear that they all expected Teri to have moved on and forgiven Maxine. The family blames Teri for there still being tension between the sisters, but the movie never shows Maxine apologizing or even acknowledging what she did was wrong. Instead we see that Maxine is now married to Kenny, Teri's ex, and has had 3 kids with him, and it's clear that as far as the rest of the family is concerned, that is more important than Teri's lingering hurt at Maxine's betrayal. Then, as if to add insult to injury, Big Mama herself throws Teri's first failed marriage in her face in the middle of an argument between her and Maxine. I am not sure that I agree that the framing of that betrayal justifies the family, though.
The first time we see the seeds of Maxine and Kenny, Maxine is "chaperoning" a date between Teri and Kenny. Kenny is outright leering at Maxine in such a blatantly creepy way, and Maxine isn't exactly discouraging his attention. That scene ends with Teri standing alone in the middle of the rink while her date and her sister make eyes at each other. In the scene where Teri discovers the betrayal, we have studious Teri walking home with her heavy books through the snow, looking tired after a day of hard work. She finds her sister and her boyfriend in the backseat of his car. Neither of these scenes, to me, screams that we're supposed to root for Kenny and Maxine. It's interesting to me that in narrating the history between the sisters, Ahmad quotes Big Mama (Teri and Maxine's mother) saying that she should have named them Oil and Vinegar because they've never gotten along, but the only history of their relationship is centered on that massive betrayal. Despite Ahmad's and Big Mama's declaration that the two have never gotten along, it seems that the movie has gone out of it's way to prove that Teri has a very good reason not to get along with Maxine.
Speaking on Teri's romantic life, her family has some...interesting things to say about her bad luck with men. The implication from her family and from her husband, Miles, is that she's too caught up in her career to be a good wife. I would argue, though, that the actual framing of the movie is on Teri's side. Miles took $5000 from their joint savings account to fund his band's studio time without telling her. I don't know how much that is with inflation, but in the late 90s, $5K wasn't a small amount. Teri is rightfully pissed that he did that behind her back, but Miles accuses her of not supporting his dreams, and of not being "fun" anymore, and Teri backs down in a way that honestly broke my heart for her. I challenge you to watch that scene and not think "oh, yeah...That's emotional abuse". Later, Miles goes on to further upset the dynamic of the relationship by quitting his job, with no discussion with Teri about how that would change their lives, their finances, the added responsibilities on Teri. When he further seals his betrayal by sleeping with Teri's cousin, Faith, Teri is there in time to witness it. Instead of making a big scene in the moment, Teri, who has her nephew, Ahmad with her, holds it together. She gets her nephew out so he won't see something that's not for his little eyes. She even manages holds it together while she's at a party celebrating Kenny and Maxine's 11th anniversary. She doesn't lose it until her family corners her in the kitchen and tells that she needs to take on the burden of Big Mama's hospital bills, stressing that this is her duty to the family.
The way Teri's family reacts in the fallout of the revelation of Miles and Faith's betrayal is that she needs to move on for the greater good of the family, but I truly do believe that the movie itself wants us to take Teri's side. Yes, Miles and Faith are shown to be remorseful for having actually had sex, but they were flirting hard for days leading up to that moment. Teri barely gets a chance to breathe between the betrayal, her mother's death, and all the extra financial burdens her family is pushing on her (why is it Teri's responsibility to make sure the house that no one else in the family could afford stays in the family?). It's clear that Ahmad and Teri's sisters think that she is in the wrong, and they accuse her of taking out her hurt feelings on everyone (I mean...they all had a hand in hurting her, so why shouldn't she? But I digress). The movie may be a bit more ambivalent on Teri here, but I don't think the framing of these scenes is necessarily against her. Teri's sisters ambush her in the restaurant. They have no qualms about throwing Teri's failed relationships in her face. They shout about her duty to the family without ever acknowledging all that she's already done for the family. If we, the audience, are not supposed to empathize with Teri, then I am not convinced that this movie was intended to be watched by thinking, feeling humans.
The last piece I want to touch on as far as the movie siding with Teri is how the end of the movie frames her in comparison to the rest of her family. Ahmad's goal in the end is to fulfill what he believes is Big Mama's dying wish to have her family gathered together for their weekly Sunday dinner. The family is so fractured by the decades of dysfunction boiling over (all the while blaming Teri for it), that the only way for Ahmad to bring his family together is to lie to them. He tells everyone except for his parents, that Big Mama told him where she kept a fabled pile of cash, and offers a third to each of them (including Teri's cheating soon-to-be-ex husband Miles for some bizarre reason I can't even begin to fathom) if they meet him at Big Mama's house on Sunday. With Teri, though, his tactic is different. With everyone else, all he needs to do is just offer them money. With Teri, he tells her that with that third of the money, she could pay off Big Mama's bills and not sell the house (she should absolutely sell that stupid house), and she could help him invest the money properly for his future. Even though the entire family treats her like all of her worth is her bank account, Teri still wants to do what's best for her family. The movie goes out of its way to show that's Teri's motivation. She is the least selfish person in all of her family. I think the movie wanted us to take her side all along. In that case, the movie is right.
Where I think the movie is wrong, and what I think people miss in their interpretation of whether or not Teri is the villain, is that her being the villain was never the question. The real question was should family always come first? Was it more important for Teri to have her feelings validated, or for the family to survive the loss of Big Mama? The movie got it wrong, and in doing so sentenced Teri to a life pushing down her own feelings for "the good of the family". Teri was never the villain of Soul Food. She wasn't intended to be the villain. Her purpose was to show that no matter how much family hurts you or takes advantage of you, you don't turn your back on them, and that is truly one of the most tragic endings to a movie I have ever seen.
.
.
.
Also, the real villain of the movie was Big Mama, but that's a different rant.

You know what’s great about Dr. Facilier?
He’s the perfect villain opposite both Tiana and Naveen.
He’s not exactly like Jafar or Ursula, who know they’re evil and delight in it as like, a lifestyle. He’s more like Scar. He’s introduced getting money on the street through cons and feeling satisfied…until Big Daddy LeBouf drives by with all his money and makes him feel insignificant.
Tumblr media
You get the idea that something in life made him this way—there was a beginning to his villainy. You don’t get that sense from like, Clayton or Gaston.
So he’s a relatable character with flaws, to an extent.
But those flaws specifically play off of Tiana and Naveen’s characterizations.
Tiana has no real respect from her peers—she is in a position to be jealous of Lottie the same way Facilier is jealous of the Cotton King. But where Tiana simply works hard and refuses to let others make her bitter, Facilier has clearly taken shortcuts. Or…”the easy way.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then there’s Naveen.
Naveen has no thought beyond the present; he thinks they’re “on this earth to have some fun,” and frequently jumps without looking at the consequences. Leaps without looking! Doesn’t stop to find out if the girl he’s kissing is a real princess even though he knew his original invitation was to a costume party, forgets that he’s supposed to be getting married and plans on continuing his playboy lifestyle, wanders into a shadow-man’s shop. But eventually he learns to open his eyes to what’s important, and what will last, in Tiana. And he takes that seriously; if he marries her instead of Charlotte, he has to get three jobs.
Tumblr media
Facilier, on the other hand? He not only does the opposite of Tiana and has taken shortcuts to get where he is—but he also suffers from Naveen’s flaw; he keeps making what are basically get-rich-quick schemes with his “friends on the other side.” When we meet him, he’s stressed and certainly on edge about failing—but that doesn’t stop him from asking for more and more debt from the demons, and he basically goes to his grave still making promises he can’t keep…like Naveen’s promise he couldn’t keep to pay Tiana for kissing him.
Tumblr media
He’s got Tiana’s focus and Naveen’s charisma. He’s got Tiana’s lofty goals and Naveen’s dependence on others to do his dirty work.
He’s exactly like Tiana and Naveen put together, aged about twenty years, but with none of their good qualities. Perfect villain for those two main characters.
But he’s also the opposite of Mama Odie.
He entices innocents with what they want while she lights their way by explaining what they need.
He wants total control, while she’s satisfied with simply giving advice and sending people on their way.
He directly transforms his victims, while Mama Odie shows Tiana and Naveen how to work toward their transformation on their own. I mean, you guys noticed that she could have done it for them, right?
Tumblr media
But she doesn’t, because she’s the symbol of that Disney Faith-Based morals: you act on what you know is true instead of taking the easy way to what you want. Facilier does the opposite: he promises to give you the easy way to what you want, and tries to tell you why you should accept his deals—but his reasons are all lies.
Tumblr media
That’s how you write a villain, ladies and gentlemen.

Man “Battle Nexus: New York” was a great episode but I do have one major gripe with it.
Like. Raph being paired up with Ghostbear? Makes sense. Works great. Works amazing, even.
Mikey being paired up with Meatsweats? Yeah that checks out!!
Donnie getting…Hypno…? I mean. I guess Donnie doesn’t like magic so it kindaaa works but Kendra would have been a much better choice to me personally. Maybe Big Mama didn’t wanna include a human or something…
And Leo getting…uh…one of the Sando Brothers???? Of all villains? Nah let’s be real, his main villain is more Big Mama herself (or Leo could be considered his own worst enemy lmao-). Hell Hypno would have probably worked better here considering their shared love for magic tricks and stuff, but Carl Sando????

…the poly sett/reader/aphelios… ur insane for that one… i need a follow up🤭
-🎧
❥ prompt: Sharing is caring. And so is getting along. When it comes to you, Sett and Aphelios are working on it. ❥ content/warnings: mild suggestive themes, fluff, teasing, cuddling, possessive boyfriend behavior ❥ characters/pairings: poly!heartsteel!settphel x f!reader
Tumblr media
"This one is so cute, Sett. Your mama really knows which ones to get you," you smiled, rubbing your face against a PoroKing plushie.
"Oh, yeah. When it comes to Ma', I got lucky and ended up with the best," Sett said with a grin, "but, let's be honest here. You're the cutest thing on my bed right now."
Aphelios narrowed his eyes against his computer screen. Clicking and typing away. He was working on a sample Yone had sent him to dabble with for their next song. He would need to ensemble some lyrics to go along with it at some point. Except...he slapped his hands against his desk, turning a sharp chin towards you and Sett.
"Uh-oh," you said, wrapping your arms around Sett's neck. "I don't think Phelly likes us being all lovey-dovey without him."
"Looks like it," Sett agreed with a snaggle tooth smile. "I mean, he's free to come on over when he's done being glued to his computer. He's been ignoring us for hours. What did he expect?"
Aphelios popped the cap off a marker, took up his notepad, and scribbled:
I'm actually working. Unlike someone I know. I wOndEr wHo?
You gasped, covering your mouth. "Phelly's extra sassy today."
"Extra? Nah, he can be worse than this. Believe it or not, he's in one of his better moods today." Sett chuckled, lowering his head and planting a kiss to your collarbone. "Probably because you're here. But it's got me thinkin'. Wonder how his mood will change when I take you all for myself. Right in front of him."
You shuddered at the tingling feeling. "Don't you think you're being a little mean?"
"The boss can't be nice all the time. Sometimes, he's gotta play the big bad wolf," he grumbled a purr, carefully nipping at your chest with his canines. You couldn't help the fluttering of your eyelids and hitched moans.
Aphelios almost snapped the marker in half. He jumped out of his desk chair. And launched a calculated attack while Sett had his arms filled with you.
"Woah! Buddy. What're you doing—?" Aphelios snatched Sett's chin, and planted the black marker against his nose and cheeks. With quick strokes, he painted the look of an actual dog on his face. Whiskers, snout and all. "Wait, isn't this permanent marker!?" Sett released you from his hold, jumping out of the bed and making a beeline for the bathroom.
Aphelios released a 'hmph' with a satisfied glean in his eyes. He sat down next to you, laced his arms around you, and plopped you both against the bed.
"Maybe Phelly's the real villain," you commented, snuggling his bed of hair. "But you two need to play nice. Okay? That was a mean thing to do to Setty. You should both apologize."
There was a twitch in his brow. He was the mean one!? He needed to apologize!? He brought you closer, placing his face between your neck and shoulder. He shook his head back and forth.
"Yes. Phelly. It's the nice thing to do," you said softly. "I know you two won't always get along. But I know you both love each other very much. And I love you both very much, too. And we can show that when we apologize after we hurt one another. Right?"
Aphelios buried himself deeper into the crook of your neck. Muffling his whines and groans into the heat of your skin. He didn't like admitting fault. He'd rather throw a written apology into the nearest burning trash can than give it to the actual person. It wasn't his fault he tended to hold onto grudges. It was always the other person's fault for not taking his personality into consideration. If they cared enough, they would know that about him. And in that case, they were making the conscious decision to be put on his shit list. He was the reasonable one. As far as he could tell.
"Please, Phelly," you asked sweetly, planting a kiss to the top of his head.
He exhaled one last breath of resistance. Somehow, you always had an unfair advantage over him. Slowly, he left the warmth of your body. That was a painful in itself. He almost cowered back into your arms. Needing a bit more strength, he slipped his mask down, and took your lips. Applying just enough pressure to make you both moan. Alright. That's all he needed. He could do this. He took up his notebook and marker.
Just as Aphelios was about to leave the room, Sett appeared from the door. His cheeks bruised red from all the scrubbing he had to do. Aphelios shifted his gaze away. A silent grip ensnared the two. Sett rubbed the guilty knot at the back of his neck. After a moment of silence, he grumbled under his breath. "Listen, Phel—"
Aphelios flipped his notebook around:
Sorry.
Sett stumbled against his words. He hadn't expected Aphelios to be the one to apologize first. Or honestly, apologize in the first place. Technically, it was Sett's own fault for egging him on the way he did. Sett's trouble was evident in the frown lines against his face.
"Yeah. I'm sorry too, Phel." Sett sighed, ears drooped. "I shouldn't have teased ya'h like that. But I couldn't help it. I just wanted you to take a break and cuddle with us. That's all. Hope you can forgive me."
Aphelios paused. The marker squeaked against the paper. He tossed his chin away, cheeks stained pink. He flipped the notepad:
I'll forgive you. On one condition. I'm middle.
Sett's ears perked-up. Grinning like a panting pup, he swooped Aphelio's into his love-crushing arms. You laughed when Sett dove onto the bed, causing you to bounce from the weight. Unraveling Aphelios like a long awaited package, you and Sett planted kisses against his flushed cheeks. The both of you then secured your legs across him, took up his upper-body, and rubbed against his figure in every way possible. Aphelios whined and groaned. He wanted to be cuddled—not suffocated. Of course, with his luck, things had to turn out this way.
an: poly!settphel x reader is my new crack. give me all the fics pls. also, maybe the next part will be nsfw. hmmmm! thank you for the follow req. anon!

Could you maybe do an angst abt O’Hara and reader but they have a kid and in their universe the kid gets sadly killed and reader blames herself for not being able to save her while Miguel is fighting the villain but she wake up 😧 and Miguel starts to comfort her abt her dream
Promises
Soft Miguel ):, fluff and angst, miguel being the best girl dad ever, I love this song sm you guys don’t understand Mac Demarco is the best
Tumblr media
“Alright, alright, c’mon, we gotta go back home. It’s getting late. Papa will be home.” You said, looking down at your daughter as you held hee hand.
“Yay!!” She said, and smiled.
You didn’t actually know if he’d actually be home, but it was the only way she would listen. She loved you, of course she did, but she really loved her dad.
“Mama, you don’t need to hold my hand. I’m a big girl.” She huffed. She was only 6, growing up too quick.
“Alright then, big girl.” You let go of her hand as you guys walked towards the apartment.
Once you reached it, you opened the door and Gabriella walked inside first, you shut the door and looked around the apartment. He wasn’t here.
You frowned, and sighed.
“Mama, I thought you said that Papa would be here…?” She looked at you.
“He’ll be back soon-“ as soon as you said the words, the door opened behind you. He carried a bag of groceries in with him.
“Papa!” She yelled, running up to him with a huge smile. Her growing fangs on display.
He smiled at her tiredly, picking her up. “Someone’s happy.” He laughed and kissed her forehead.
“And look at that, your fangs are growing.” He said, looking at her teeth.
“They are, and soon I’ll be just like you daddy.” She giggled as she got put down on the floor.
“Look what I got..” he pulled out a tub of ice cream, looking at you and back at Gabriella with a smirk.
——————————————————————
Miguel tucked in Gabriella, kissing her forehead again.
“Buenas noches. Que sueñes con los angelitos.”
(Good night. Sweet dreams.)
“Buenas noches. Te quiero papá.”
(Good night. I love you dad.)
He smiled and turned to leave the room. You were waiting outside the door.
You both went into your guy’s room, and slipped out of your clothes and into pajamas, which was sweatpants and an old t-shirt for him.
You both went into the bed, and talked for a while. Laughing and just enjoying each other.
“Goodnight, my love.” He mumbled.
“Goodnight.” You kissed him, and you soon fell asleep.
——-
The rain pounded on the window outside, the man holding Gabriella held a gun to her head. You cried and begged for him to stop, as the other man held his arms around your neck.
“One step and I’ll shoot her.” He said, looking at Miguel. Miguel looked at you and then back at his daughter.
He looked back at Gabi, eyes red under his mask, and fangs full on showing. He ran over to her, when a loud ‘bang!’ Was heard.
All you could see was Miguel scream “Gabi!” And then run after the man, before you woke up.
You quickly sat up, looking around and breathing heavily.
Miguel was still sleeping, and you had to just look. Just in case.
You quietly walked out to your daughters room. Heart thumping against your chest. What if the dream was a sign? What if she really isn’t there? You peeked into the door, and she was still there. Thank god.
You sighed in relief and went back to the room. Miguel started to stir when you went back into the bed. You sat up and stared at the wall for a while, just thinking. It was just a dream, but still, it could be real.
“Y/n.. What’s wrong..?” He mumbled in a raspy voice when he stirred awake, and looked at you. You looked at him.
“Nothing. I just had a dream.” You mumbled, and laid down again.
He put his arm up, and leaned his head against it.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s just… in the dream.. Some guy had Gabi, and then he..”
“Oh.”
“Yeah.”
“But Gabi’s still here, isn’t she?”
“Yeah…”
“Exactly. She’s fine, and she will be fine. I’ll always be here to protect the both of you, and i’d never let anything happen to you.”
“Promise..?”
“Promise.” He smiled at you, and grabbed your cheeks, you both kissed.
“Now go back to sleep. Love you.” He said, laying down again.
“Love you.” You smiled at him, and laid down as well.

What is Gali's backstory? Like was she created by draxum along with the rest of the turtles or does she have something else going for her :0
HEHEHEEHHEH GALILEO MY BELOVED!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She was mutated about 5 years before Leo and the rest of them were. Unlike the other turtles, she was originally a human!
Draxum, seeing humans as the ultimate threat, wanted to take on, mutate it to be stronger, and make if kill the rest of the human race. Unfortunately, his plan didn't work very well because, while Gali is very strong, the mutation caused her a lot of pain. When she recovered, she wasn't as strong or fast as she previously was, and while she built up her strength again by becoming Big Mama's assistant (and she fought in the Nexus occassionally), she still faces a daily battle against chronic pain.
As a human, she was very good in sports (she played volleyball for her school), but her social and home life were very rough. Draxum found her sneaing out and promised her that she'd never have to go back to her house, and she'd get stronger, if she went with him.
After a brief attempt at a fight, Gali realized she wasn't going to win and realized that anything this weird Goatman (or eccentric cosplayer) could offer her wouldn't be worse than going back to her house. When she realized what was going to happen to her, she was knocked out before she could fight.
The mutation process was rough and nearly killed her. A lot of her memories, as well as her previous sense of self, were completely destroyed. She couldn't remember her name, not most of her human life. Draxum started to address her as a boy, but when he realized she couldn't fight like he'd hoped, he stopped referring to her altogether.
Big Mama caught wind of Draxum's experiment and showed interest. Without any real use for Gali, Draxum solder her off to Big Mama. BM, under the impression Galileo was a guy, gave her the name Leonardo, after one of Lou Jitsu's favorite human historical figures. When Gali expressed discontent with that name, and with being referred to as masculine, BM was open to letting her choose her own name. Without any other ideas, BM vaguely recalled Lou Jitsu talking about another old human named "Galileo", so BM suggested that name and it stuck.
When Galileo first saw Leo, she assumed he was also previously human, but realized that if he really was that young, he would have died, so she assumed he was created by a different method. She later asked BM and Draxum about it, which they gave her a real answer. They also breifly mentioned the 3 turtles that were lost (but Draxum assumed they all died).
Another thing along the track of Gali remembering only bits of her human life: she does retain a bit of her empathy. That's why she didn't fight in the Nexus for very long. She also teaches Leo to have empathy, that he doesn't have to kill everyone he fights. (If it wasn't for Gali, he would be much more villain-like).
Also, Gali wasn't sure how to feel about Leo for a long time. She was kind to him, but he often annoyed her, but she grew to love him anyways.
When Galileo first meets Leo, when Leo is about 2 or 3 (he was only a year or two old when mutated, so it's still pretty soon after his mutation), and Gali is around 18-19 ish.
Currently, in FH, Leo is 14 and Gali is 30 ish
Because of Gali's mutation method, she doesn't physically change compared to how big the others end up growing.

Hello! I hope you are well!
I saw that you wanted some ideas for a fic, i have a request if thats okay. I have an request for an donnie x reader (can be gn or fem!, either is fine), where the reader seems like the villain but is trying to protect them from a bigger badder villain maybe like big mama for example? Maybe like a lovers to enemies to lovers trope? Or just a enemies to lovers trope.
Anywho i love your work! Please remember to take breaks and please remember to eat and drink something today. Bye bye!❤
AN: You guys are worrying about me and my health, it’s so sweet, I’ll try though my ADHD brain might forget, thank you <3 also, your brain is beautiful anon, villain reader lovers to enemies to lovers?? *chef’s kiss* How could I pass that up?
This one took a while because I got excited and it got long, I love how it turned out though.
Trust fall
Tumblr media
Pairing: Rise!Donnie x Fem! reader (No use of Y/N)
Type: Oneshot
Summary: Donnie fell in love with you slowly but steadily, he would have trusted you with his life, which is why finding out you were working with a villain was too hard of a hit to take.
Warnings: Angst with a happy ending, break-ups, reader says f*ck once.
MASTERLIST
Donnie didn’t think he was too trusting, but sometimes he didn’t have the insight to people Leo and Mikey would, his own ego made him think he couldn’t be fooled, and maybe, just maybe, that would be his downfall.
He met you at the Big Nexus Hotel, you were staying there for a couple of days to try something different is what you said, a human in a huge hotel full of yokai who was suddenly ran over by a mutant ninja turtle in his attempts to escape the claws of a big feral dog called Gus.
Donnie hurried to protect you, grabbing your hand and pulling you into a run alongside him, because you were a civilian suddenly involved in the situation since Gus had seen you together, so now you were in danger too.
The moment he saw Leo on the other side of the hallway waving and opening a portal Donnie didn’t hesitate to go through it, dragging you along and directly into the lair where Mikey and Raph were already staring at you in shock, Leo just whistled, closing the portal behind him before asking.
“Well DonTron, aren’t you going to introduce us?”
Introductions were a messy affair, where you explained you’d been staying at the hotel for two days before what happened, and they explained themselves in a way. You took their explanation in stride, just accepting mutants and Yokai were a thing after the crazy persecution scene just a moment before.
Your easy acceptance put them all at ease, they were shocked at it, yes, but thought nothing more while Mikey excitedly asked if you wanted to stay for dinner and Leo just made a side comment about your attitude to them being a little weird.
Donnie should have thought it out further.
You were fitting right in and sitting at the table with them, but even after the crazy day you just had you still had enough energy to ask Donnie about his battle shell, the question then went over to his tech bō, him explaining how he got his hands on the titanium used on most of his things and then switched over to sci-fi movies, Leo joining the conversation in smalls bursts at that.
You left the lair with four new phone numbers and after a couple of months, you were already a new addition to their little found family.
You made friends with April real quick and then with Sunita, their father seemed to like you and whenever you came over you usually brought a little something with you, cookies, pizza, coffee, just something for the guys, waving off their thanks and telling them it was just good manners, even when Raph repeatedly insisted you didn’t have to, while Leo would immediately ask what you brought that day once you walked through the door.
The pride and warmth that came to Donnie whenever you’d ask about his projects, the new videogame he was into, with all your attention never straying from his rants, or when you’d laugh at one of his jokes started growing and changing into something else with each of your visits.
You were always considerate of them, but he couldn’t figure out how with just a small exchange of texts between the both of you before your arrival at the lair you always seemed to be able to tell if he was in the mood for plain black coffee or a lavender latte and would walk into his lab with a small greeting plus the steaming cup in your hands.
Small things like that increased and slipped into your interactions, making him feel like you knew and understood him better than anyone else.
It made him happy, it made him nervous at times. He started making things for you, gift giving was one of his love languages, why wouldn’t he use it with one of his closest friends? One of his favorite people.
But your reaction to his gifts made him short-circuit, you were so happy, so genuine in your excitement, asking questions about the gadget he made to facilitate your routine and communication with the lair and using it as much as you could.
He started making more things for you, and you reciprocated with your own little gifts to him.
At some point you were both just stuck at the hip, always together when you were at the lair, standing by each other’s side during missions, and texting or calling when you weren’t present.
The guys teased him constantly for months and he would deny what they said until April basically slapped him in the face with the knowledge they all had and he had been in denial about.
He was in love with you.
And it scared him enough to hide in his lab for a couple of days before Leo portaled Mikey wearing full Dr. Feelings attire inside for the longest lecture of his life.
With all the courage he could manage to get from his brother and your worried texts asking if he was fine, Donnie realized that he trusted you, and he trusted that regardless of how you felt about him you could continue your friendship just as normal.
You couldn’t, you couldn’t continue your friendship just as normal, because after Donnie managed to confess you jumped into his arms telling him you felt the same, and suddenly it wasn’t all the same, Donnie was practically vibrating in your arms with glee, it was way better.
The time you shared increased if possible and the laughs did too, freer and more frequent; because knowing one another so well was another love language you shared.
Donnie felt he understood you just like you did him, he knew you better than anyone could, had seen you happy, sad, angry, and he could read you just perfectly by now.
Which was why even though, occasionally, you would disappear for a couple of hours or even days, Donnie didn’t even think to ask much of where you were going most of the time, as long as he knew you were just fine, what did it matter? When you came back you would tell him of a lady at the store who fought with you for a box of cookies or about your aunt who lived out of state and always had a weird story to tell.
Leo did ask though, he would ask frequently, and you’d say you had some errands to run, you were going to the store, to a party or a family gathering, and Donnie would say good luck, while Leo would nonchalantly let you go, but his gaze whispered doubts.
One day he spoke them out.
He asked Donnie about what you did those days when you went completely off radar and Donnie looked at Leo like he was insane, telling him it was your business, but his brother wouldn’t budge, and the conversation switched tone quickly with Leo telling Donnie how your attitude was weird.
“It’s the way she doesn’t look anyone in the eyes whenever she goes MIA, it’s different from when she just goes grocery shopping or something, why would she need to go without any communication like that anyways?”
“Please Nardo” Donnie rolled his eyes “It’s called privacy? And some people just feel like staring into the ocular globes of other people is uncomfortable.”
“Does she?” Leo insisted and Donnie knew the answer was usually a no, but he wouldn’t give his brother the satisfaction “It’s not only that Don, why is she always so sketchy when we ask to see her apartment?”
“Can you just drop it Nardo? Some people just prefer their privacy.”
“She is always hanging out at the lair though? But refuses video calls if she’s not out on the street. And how long have we known her for already? So long and not even her boyfriend has seen her apartment or even a picture of her family?”
Donnie winced but refused to give in “She’ll show us when she’s ready! Why is that such a hard concept for you to grasp Nardo? What do you even think she could be hiding from us? How can you be just spouting such baseless claims like my girlfriend is hiding something horrible from us.”
Leo sighed, shifting slightly in place before asking his next question, a bit more careful, Donnie faltered at the change of tone “Can you just check where she is? I want to believe you’re right Don, but there’s something that has just always seemed off about her to me, I won’t ask you again, the moment we see with your GPS that she’s at her parents’ place out of state like she said I’ll completely drop the topic.”
Donnie wasn’t like Leo, he couldn’t read people so easily, but he knew you, and he knew you way better than Leo did, so he knew there was no reason to doubt you and Leo was just reading a nonexistent text between lines that were as clear as they seemed.
So he caved, with an exasperated sigh, he turned to his computer and started typing something to pull out your coordinates with the chip he placed on your phone and hadn’t used, telling himself he’d only do so if there was an emergency, but he could make an exception, then Leo would finally get off both of your backs.
The algorithm showed your location and both boys stared at the screen, the calm expression on Donnie’s face shifted to something more worrying and Leo’s frown returned.
You were at the Grand Nexus Hotel.
-
There had to be a reason for what he and Leo had found out, and Donnie wanted to figure out what it was.
He was going to ask you when you came back because there was surely an explanation for you going there, so when you came back after a couple of hours with the flashing light of your location glaring at him through the screen, he asked how things went, sure you’d tell him your reasons.
Except you said it was fine and told him a story about your parents being worried about you and asking about your life, how the food was great and other things Donnie realized were pretty generic, too generic.
You were lying to him, and he didn’t even know how long you had been lying for.
-
Things were changing, and you had noticed, but Donnie avoided your questions, he avoided the topic all together even though it ate at his insides because a part of him still wanted to believe you and kept making excuses.
Only two days after they saw you at the hotel, Leo came into the lab through a portal; Donnie was about to yell at him, but Leo spoke faster.
“She’s at the hotel again, come on, I’ll go for Mikey and Raph.” Leo left immediately after that, and Donnie’s heart was beating faster, how did Leo know that? Had he been following you since then?
He met his brothers in the projector room and Leo’s portal took them to the Grand nexus hotel, Raph and Mikey were asking questions, but Donnie could barely hear them, just automatically following Leo’s instructions to check your location on his GPS, which confirmed that you were right there like his brother said, the turtles all followed until they were right behind the doors to Big Mama’s office, Donnie’s heart sinking further at the realization.
He barely remembers what happened after, the doors were wide open and there you were, dressed in all black, your clothes covering most of you except your eyes but it was you, staring back at him, first wide-eyed and then coldly, standing next to Big Mama comfortably, someone said something and he thinks there was a discussion or exchange of words, but he couldn’t remember, Big Mama herself gave you the order to attack them and he finally noticed a pair of escrima sticks suddenly in your hands as you rushed their way.
You were moving so fast, so practiced, like you had been trained, so unlike when you went on missions with them, you were flowing naturally, using your weapons against Leo, who had met you in the middle, like they were an extension of your body.
He’d tried to teach you to use his bō before, you were so clumsy with it when you tried.
Even that had been a lie.
It was all a blur, suddenly they were all fighting you when more yokai working for Big Mama joined in, Donnie was fighting with a newfound rage, all his scrambled thoughts making him see red, so much red Raph had to restrain him and carry him by force out of there, he heard Mikey trying to reason with him but Donnie ignored him with his eyes set on you.
“WHY?!” He managed to yell when you stopped following them near the entrance of the hotel “WHAT COULD YOU POSSIBLY GAIN FROM LYING? YOU LIED ABOUT EVERYTHING!”
“What could Big Mama’s guard gain from knowing everything about the turtles that get on her nerves?” You responded coldly and Donnie’s eyes were glassy with rage and pain while his brother pulled them both right through a portal back home.
He cried on April’s shoulder that night, over a pile of his brothers who must have felt betrayed themselves but quietly supported him through the heartbreak.
-
After that you kept meeting, thankfully you must not have noticed the tracker Donnie had placed on you, because whenever you were doing Big Mama’s dirty work, he got an alarm and they’d find you.
Every time you met, Donnie would remember everything you had done and couldn’t look into your eyes, thankfully he didn’t have to if he was shooting missiles at you from afar, why did he always go for your type? Cute and mean, he just hadn’t realized how mean.
And it wasn’t easy to fight you because despite his common sense and how much he hated himself for it he still had feelings for you, it was horrible, he hated it, he hated it so much, and he couldn’t help but ask himself every single time he saw you even from the corner of his eyes if anything you’d gone through had been real at all.
All the laughs, all the smiles, all the gifts, all your questions, had all of it been a lie? Was there anything in your relationship that could have been real? Was that how you could read him so easily?
It infuriated him to no end, to know he had just handed you over every weakness you could need to fight them.
Except that when they arrived at the lair one night after a successful fight against you, Leo pointed out that you hadn’t used anything you knew against them even once since they found you out.
It made no sense, but he was too tired after seeing you and was walking straight to bed, ignoring his twin’s plea to talk about it and his voice asking if you knew where they lived, why wouldn’t you try to use it? Why had you let them go that day at the hotel—
“Why has she failed every single time we’ve fought when she knows the controls to your tech?!”
Donnie halted and turned to Leo with wide eyes, he had forgotten, how could he be so stupid? He’d forgotten you knew every weakness, every button, every function of his tech.
“You knew that! You knew she could use it if she wanted to sabotage it! Why didn’t you say anything?!” He asked Leo, Raph looked surprised too.
“She can do that? Leo! She could have put us all at risk!”
“But she could have done that from the beginning!” Leo told them, stressing out the last part “She could have done so anytime we fought but she hasn’t! She had a grasp of Donnie’s bō at one time and conveniently touched a button that electrocuted her! Isn’t that suspicious?!”
It was, it was suspicious.
But what about it? There was no questioning you were the bad guy, you had been lying to them about everything, you had been helping Big Mama get her claws into strange artifacts—
Except, Leo was right, Donnie was tired of Leo being right, but you hadn’t gotten Big Mama all those artifacts, you had failed.
Donnie rushed over to Leo and took the latest artifact out of his hands, he rushed with it to his lab where the rest of what they had gotten from you was stored, his brothers following behind.
He hadn’t taken the time to study them, got a couple books that may have some answers about what they were, but studying them had felt like a pain, he lacked motivation, until now.
He rushed through the books, pulling artifacts and making mental notes about them and what they could do together, his brothers tried asking questions and touching them but he pushed them off with his metal limbs.
“Why would Big Mama even use this?” He mumbled, catching their attention “It’s like a defense mechanism against her type of yokai, and this other one is a mechanism against—”
Against a serpent, a chimera, it was a neutralizer.
A smudge on it caught his attention and there it was, in your own writing, ‘Amphisbaena’, one of Big Mama’s champions, the two-headed serpents.
He reached out for another one that had written ‘Cortex’ on it.
‘Operator’
‘Sprite’
‘Troll’
All of them were names of Big Mama’s champions, all of the artifacts labeled with the name of a champion it could either restrain or knock out, they had been hidden deep into the city, guarded carefully but unassumingly, yet you had known exactly where they were.
‘Why has she failed every single time we’ve fought when she knows the controls to your tech?!’
You hadn’t failed, Big Mama hadn’t asked you to get these artifacts in the first place, that’s why you never had backup, you always acted alone, guiding them to these.
Donnie was worried, because why would it be so easy? Why would it be like that? Whatever Big Mama was planning were you really trying to stop it? Was it foolish of him to believe that? The slight glimmer of hope he hadn’t managed to discard begged him to believe it was true, but could he? Why would he?
Why should he fall again for your lies? This could all just be a trap.
So he turned to his brother, who’d been putting together the pieces while watching over his shoulder, turned to Leo, so he could wake him up with the cold harsh truth, squash that small last glimmer of hope Donnie had so he could move on.
But when he did Leo had that look in his eyes like the cat that caught the canary, there was relief in his face and Donnie’s eyes widened while his twin turned to him.
“We need to get through Big Mama’s security and find out her plans, we’ll infiltrate her office tomorrow if you can figure out by then how these things work” Leo spoke confidently, starting to explain a plan to the rest of them while Donnie was unable to stop the hope from growing in his chest.
-
The boys were right in Big Mama’s office, the others guarding while Donnie looked through her computer for anything that could help them.
Finally, he found something, a whole file, but it was better if he just took it and read it at home, he started downloading the information and looking it over to make sure it was what they needed when he heard a thump and Mikey’s yell.
“Turtley-boos, I thought we’d already talked about this” Big Mama’s voice echoed through the room and Donnie saw her right at the door “No stealing from Mama.”
Leo and Raph went to attack while Donnie kept glancing at the tab’s process and cursing the size of it, just one more moment just one moment.
And then he remembered the artifacts, he took the one labeled ‘Big Mama’ and threw it “Leo!”
Leo caught it with an “ahá!” and pointed it at the spider before realizing he had no idea how it worked “Gah!” Leo was pinned against the wall by a web while Big Mama took the artifact in her hands with a new expression on her face.
“HOW did you get this?” She asked but the artifact was taken from her hands by a pair of five-fingered ones.
“Guess” You said before pressing on the side of the artifact and opening it, a burst of light came from Big Mama like the artifact was a vacuum for her energy and the spider yokai dropped, glaring up at you, a hint of amusement in her otherwise angry eyes.
She chuckled humorlessly “Oh I knew there was something I liked about you, I just hoped you were as smart as your parents when choosing a side.”
“My parents have never controlled me BM, and neither could you” You snarled before hearing guards approaching your door.
You rushed out to take something from Big Mama’s pocket, she tried to claw at you but you were faster.
You quickly made your way to Leo, using a laser to destroy the web, he fell with a screech before you pushed his Katana onto his chest.
“Get us to champion’s row, now!” You yelled.
“We still don’t know what she’s planning!” Donnie replied from where he stood at the computer.
“I’ll tell you! But we need to reach her champions NOW!” Your eyes were looking at him imploringly and while Donnie wanted to fight you and ask why he should trust you at all the familiar steps were getting closer and he cursed pulling himself away from the computer while Leo opened the portal, you all went through, and appeared at the entrance of champion’s row, where the halls were silent.
Mikey suddenly jumped into your arms making you stumble a bit with your eyes open wide.
“I knew it! I knew you couldn’t be on Big Mama’s side, you were always hiding something but I had the feeling you were protecting us!”
WHAT?
Donnie’s exasperation was slightly clouded when you closed your eyes and hugged Mikey back with all your strength, breathing with what Donnie knew was relief before you pulled back from the hug, your expression firm.
“Big Mama has been looking for an old jewel that is said to possess the power to control all yokai, she found it just recently and hid it under the surveillance of her champions, she was waiting for a big event, but because of what just happened she’ll want to use it now, that’s why we have to neutralize her champions and get the jewel before she recovers and comes for it—”
“And you know this because?” Donnie asked, glaring at you, and seeing how your shoulders tensed before sighing and reaching up to remove your mask.
“My parents work with Big Mama” You mumbled, the silence was dense for a moment “They work for the human part of the hotel’s business and raised me to continue their work, I was trained from a young age because a human working with the yokai mob boss is clearly not a safe job.”
“Woah, Okay! So, you are supposed to inherit their side of the business? And why should we trust you then? Why should we help you?!” Donnie asked, his voice getting louder and echoing through the halls as he walked up to you, he knew it, there it was! They couldn’t believe you.
You didn’t react much, looking back at Donnie with something akin to resignation, like you weren’t expecting anything less, calmly you continued speaking “I’ve hated what my parents and Big Mama do my whole life” you said while Donnie looked for any shift in your expression “When I was a kid I was exposed to the battle nexus, I saw the fights and then I saw the warriors trapped in their cells down here, saw them battle to the death with other people who didn’t even have a chance and how the yokai enjoyed the show, making bets for the next fight when there was a corpse left down in the arena.” Donnie faltered slightly, listening to the hurt in your words.
“I threw up the first time I saw it, while my parents told me I’d get used to it eventually, and I refused them, I had a rebellious phase, they called it, until I realized, if I was here, I could learn how to change things and tamper with BM’s plans, so suddenly, I became their golden child.” There was a new glint in your eyes, Donnie wished you’d stop giving him reasons to hope.
“How long had you been working with her?” Leo asked, and you sighed.
“Two days before I met you guys, BM took me in to become a guard at her side so I could see how she ran the business from up close and that’s when I learned about the jewel.”
“Then why didn’t you tell us?” Raph who had been mostly quiet so far asked a little defensively “We could have helped you if we knew.”
“It was risky” Your voice sounded pleading “After meeting you BM started suspecting me for being around you that one time, so I had to prove I had nothing to do with you to her, if you suddenly seemed to know things about her plans that you shouldn’t she would have immediately distrusted me.” Your eyes strayed to Donnie’s with so much sadness in them and he would have pulled at his hair if he had any, it was so hard to not give in to that look, but he knew better than to do so.
“The day you found me out at the hotel I wanted to talk to you guys and come out clean with everything, but Big Mama was angry and suspicious because you clearly knew who I was, so she started keeping information from me, leaving her side would have made everything I’d worked for meaningless and I wouldn’t have realized when she got her hands on the jewel, I panicked but knew she wouldn’t just use it quietly, she would have gone with a big event, so I found out where she was guarding it and started guiding you with Donnie’s tracker to the artifacts, if I had them BM could have found out, but with you, they’d be safer.”
“All right!” Leo sounded chipper “So where is the jewel? So we can get out of here pronto and talk over pizza about how disowned you are.” Raph and Mikey hummed in agreement, Mikey mentioning something about getting your favorite before Donnie raised his hands up.
“Just like that? We are just going to trust her and welcome her back to the circle?! Like nothing happened, she still lied to us! She still lied to me!” Donnie pointed at himself with his thumb, an angry glare directed straight at you, and he saw you wilt in place, his glare trembled but there was a loud hiss coming from the hallway right at that moment.
You all hadn’t exactly been quiet that whole time.
“It’s Amphisbaena! Quick, this way!” You reflexively took hold of Donnie’s arm, pulling him through another hall before letting go “The artifact! It will knock them out, just turn the cover!”
Donnie rushed to pull the artifact out before Mikey took it from his hands, pointing it excitedly at the serpent that was getting too close for comfort.
There was a screech and a thump before both heads were on the floor completely knocked out, you pointed to another hall and went running, the boys all following you while Donnie passed them each one of the artifacts.
“We’re close! Just this one and the jewel should be behind the bars—” your voice was interrupted by a loud growl and you seemed to pale
“Who’s that?” Donnie asked going through the labels of artifacts they’d already gone through, one of them held a little tiny Sprite in there, the angry champion unable to get out and hitting the glass with her fists.
“It’s Kraken Tom, I couldn’t find anything for Kraken Tom” you said in a panic, right at that moment a black tentacle reached out from your right and took you in its grasp while you screamed.
Donnie yelled your name before taking out his staff “Let her go you outgrown cephalopod!” A big missile launcher construct in neon purple materialized before shooting at the Kraken right in the face, the Kraken screeched before letting go of you due to the pain, you were falling rapidly before being caught in Donnie’s arms, you looked up at him enamored but he wasn’t looking back, glaring at the Kraken before letting you back down.
“Hey buddy, miss me?” Leo asked the Kraken before slicing through one of its tentacles while another tried to reach him “Donnie! You two go for the jewel, we’ll take care of this.”
Donnie and you looked at each other before rushing down the hallway, finally, you found what you were looking for, behind a strong container was the jewel.
“why can’t Leo just take it out with a portal?” Donnie asked as you rummaged through the pouch on your waist.
“It has a barrier against mystic arts, I took this from Big Mama back at her office” you said holding up a key in your hands and twisting it through the lock, immediately the jewel was released but a green portal opened behind you, sending chills through your spine.
“Oh darling, I thought your parents taught you better than this, they’ll be very disappointed” Big Mama was right behind you and you pulled out the artifact again but your hand holding it was pinned to the wall immobile a moment later with her web goop.
“Donnie take the gem!” You turned to him with desperation and he did quickly pocketing the thing before pointing his staff at Big Mama but she was already holding her claws to your neck.
“You should think twice turtley-boo, it’s the gem or her neck” She hummed, her claws already pulling at the skin but you refused to express your pain.
“Take it Donnie! You must leave now!” You yelled and he growled.
“Don’t be daft, like that would happen, this though, looks interesting” Donnie smirked with the jewel pointed right at Big Mama who gasped and pulled more blood from your neck before a beam of light made her eyes whiten, suddenly over the control of Donnie.
“Come on!” He said taking your hand in his and pulling you away from Big Mama who was starting to wake up from the trance since Donnie didn’t know how to use the jewel.
You both reached the guys who were finishing with Kraken Tom, when Leo saw you he immediately created another portal “let’s blow this popsicle stand” he said and you all ran through it.
-
You were in the med bay with Leo as he treated the cut on your neck, which was thankfully superficial, while Mikey prepared some dinner for you all.
It was really quiet for a bit, you were clearly uncomfortable after everything and couldn’t read what Leo might be thinking, as far as you knew he was the one who found you out, he suspected you for a while and you couldn’t blame him, it may have been to protect them and your mission but you had been lying to them this whole time, going as far as to hide your fighting abilities so they wouldn’t ask too much, the idea of pizza at their dinner table wasn’t something you entertained, your plan was to leave after everything and give them space.
Give Donnie space, despite how much it would hurt you.
“I know he understands why you did it” Leo broke the silence, still looking at the wound while cleaning it “It makes sense, it was logical and by this point he knows you only had good intentions, he does it all the time himself, good things that look wrong.” You snorted looking away.
“He’s right though, I lied, and he has no reason to trust me again after everything.” You said bitterly “I fucked up Leo, and Donnie deserves way better than me.”
“Maybe let him decide that?” Leo looked at you and you expected him to look stern, but his gaze was full of concern, for you? For Donnie? It was a brotherly concern you didn’t think would be directed at you again “I’m not saying it’s fine, you hurt him, he has every right to be angry at you, I know I was pissed” he gave you a lazy grin and you looked down again “But you were protecting him, weren’t you?”
“Big Mama would have gone after you all if she’d known I was friends with you.”
“I’m not talking about that” He rolled his eyes “I’m talking about the fact that you could have found a way to tell us everything and you didn’t because you knew Donnie would have tried to help you and put himself at risk, you thought it was better for him to hate you.”
You kept looking down, but then you heard a very familiar voice at the entrance of the med bay.
“That’s just so stupid” Donnie snarled lowly, and you tensed up, Leo finished bandaging up your neck and stood up, sending a reassuring look your way before walking out of the bay and leaving you with his purple-coded brother.
There was only silence while Donnie sat down in front of you where Leo had been, you finally broke it by speaking “What did you do to the jewel?”
“I destroyed it” He sighed sounding bitter “I wanted to study it but it’s probably better that no one gets their hands on it” he said as if he had been trying to convince himself of that “I also recovered a bunch of data from Big Mama’s computer”
At that he looked into your eyes and your own widened slightly as you realized what he must have found.
“She was planning to control me specifically” It wasn’t a question, just a fact “to create something that would allow her to increase the range of the jewel, is that why you were there when we broke in? To slip the info over to us somehow?”
“Yes” you mumbled and heard him sigh, he slumped slightly in his place, but his posture was a bit more relaxed, and you dared to look up, just to find him staring straight at you, his eyes softer than they’d been since that day at the hotel when he’d seen you with Big Mama.
“What was the truth? Were you dating me just for convenience? So you could help us because you knew I was in danger?”
“No!” You scrambled to answer quickly, eyes open wide and startling him for a moment, you looked pained at the thought “No of course not, none of that was a lie” you pleaded “About working with Big Mama and my disappearances, that was, my relationship with my parents and about my fighting skills those were because otherwise, you could have found out the first part, but none of our interactions were fake or staged, I wasn’t trying to get to you in the beginning, it was pure coincidence.”
The corners of Donnie’s mouth twitched down slightly as he tried to school his expression, but he was having a hard time doing so when your glassy eyes made him want to hold you tight back in his arms.
“Donnie I was never planning on falling in love with you, I just did” your voice had gotten lower, almost scared and he decided he’d had enough, quickly pulling you into a tight embrace, he felt you stiffen before relaxing and hiding your face in his shoulder, it felt wet, and he realized you were crying, so he held you tighter, holding back his own tears of relief.
“You’re going to have a lot of explaining to do, I want a full essay on everything that happened from then to now and no more lies, not even small ones, about Big Mama, your parents, everything” you didn’t say anything but nodded into his shoulder, he started drawing circles on your back with his fingers before continuing “But for now I just want to get some food into my system and hold my girlfriend in my arms while we watch Jupiter Jim Pluto vacation IV”
You separated from the hug looking up at him with teary eyes open wide, you looked so confused but he just reached up to wipe the tears while you attempted to form words “Ar-are you sure? Donnie, you don’t have to get back with me or hell, even forgive me if you don’t want to”
“Why would I not forgive the person who sacrificed her own well-being for mine? Your methods may have been less than ideal but I’m not stupid enough to let you go after all of that.” His voice was chiding, but his expression was soft and a small smile had started forming in his face.
You reached up quickly to place your lips over his and he held the back of your head to pull you closer.
You felt like you still had to make up for much, but Donnie was fine, and if anything was true it was that he loved you as much as you loved him.

same person who said teehee(batfam related again xx)
so anyway!!!
you also mentioned that Selina likes y/n, and I seriously need a small drabble w their interactions! I bet that's why y/n likes cats so much! cause she was hanging out with Selina or with Selina in almost all her patrols hihihi
I hope you enjoy this anon. I just made them into HC, I hope you don't mind. Though if you aren't satisfied with it feel free to send another ask. 😊
Selina meets y/n when she takes the role of Batgirl. It's an average night for Gotham. Stealing jewels and whatever catches Selina's eyes. Then there's a little squabble with Batman.
She puts down her bag of stolen goods to fight. She is so focused on fighting with Batman that she almost doesn't notice the figure taking her bag and starts trifling though it. They take whatever they're looking for and place it back to where it belongs.
Batman and Selina are fighting while Batgirl! y/n is trying to put everything back to the way it was.
Oh, no there's some broken glass! Batgirl! y/n goes to the janitor's closet to grab a broom and sweeps up the glass. She might have pulled out the mop if she didn't notice an opening for her to strike.
The kick to the back didn't hurt Selina in the slightest, it just caught her off guard. Though Batgirl! y/n acts like she just stabbed Selina.
Blabbering about how she's sorry and hoped that it didn't hurt too much. But Selina fondly remembers how Batgirl! y/n admitted that she thought her cat ears looked cute.
After that they'll have little interactions every so often.
Maybe if they have a fight or something Selina will say, "You don't want to get hurt do you, Kitty?" Then young Batgirl! y/n smiles. Slightly puffs out her chest, "I'm no Kitty. I'm a Chickadee, that's what my Mama called me." Selina then just calls her Chickadee after that.
Young y/n finds out about Selina's real identity when at a Gala. She's probably goofing off with Tim or just sitting alone bored when she hears a familiar voice call her Chickadee.
She thinks it's a big secret knowing who Catwoman really is. Doesn't tell Bruce or even Tim even though they knew long before her. Thinks she hot shit with this information and believes she's just best friends with Selina than the other two. No, y/n you aren't supposed to befriend the criminals!
Honestly a few villains might hear about the little nickname y/n was giving and mock her. "What are you going to do about it, Chickadee?" She always pouts a little before saying, "You aren't allowed to call me that!"
If there was a big fight going on, Batgirl! y/n was severely injured Selina would jump in. Depending on how bad the injury is she'll either defend y/n from anymore harm or just kidnap her.
y/n wakes up in a cozy bed with some cats laying around her. She's convinced she's found haven. Spends the rest of the night with Selina as she introduces y/n to all her cats.
They just have a little soft spot for each.
y/n wants hugs. She's a touch starved goblin, but she's too scared to ask. Though if she just asked Selina, she'd gladly give her as many as she wanted.
At the start y/n isn't given too much "freedom" during patrols. She's still young, inexperienced, and not to mention she can be a bit innocent. Though when she has a few years under her belt, I could see Bruce begrudgingly letting her patrol on her own.
This isn't where the family neglect starts, so Bruce is pretty connected to her. Not to mention that Jason was probably still in the back of his mind.
I couldn't really see y/n being one to skip patrol duty. Too much of a goody-two-shoes to really do that. Though I could see Selina coming by to play around and distract her from her duty.
Selina could be doing this from boredom or wanting to see the girl relax. A kid shouldn't be so serious. They should be growing up and being care free. She'd also like for y/n to grow up and not become so brooding like her father. Though thankfully y/n is willing to entertain Selina from time to time.
If things are calm, they might sit in alleyways to pet stray cats while chatting. Their conversations are nothing serious and quiet mindless honesty, but it's nice.
They can both just take a breath and bask in the cuteness of the alley cats.

What traits (not questionably-human ones) do you think Quincey has inherited from his parents?
He's a wee bookworm. Starts reading very young and is enamored with his own little library. Got unreasonably excited when he received a bookcase as a birthday present.
Has his mother's bright eyes and his father's dark brown pre-Horrors hair.
An innate charmer. Started shaking hands before he could walk. When they visit Transylvania, he followed in his father's footsteps by pulling the heartstrings of every kind stranger who helped Jonathan survive his first harrowing visit. The woman who gifted the crucifix fed him full enough to burst. He won over Sister Agatha and company with his sweetness and gentleness.
The little man is fascinated by typewriters. Mina helps him pick out one for himself when he's bigger and he immediately starts writing his own stories.
Incredibly adoptable. Where his parents were orphans--"It's free sibling/offspring real estate." --multiple strangers, Arthur, Van Helsing--Baby Quincey just activates the This Is My Child Now instinct on principle.
Big big BIG protective instinct over those he loves. Yes, he is a baby. Yes, his only weapon at hand is a rattle. Yes, the 'threat' is nothing more villainous than a rude patron at the coffeehouse ruining their little family outing. Inconsequential.
Baby Quincey, brandishing his rattle like a blade: "Habha argah bll."*
*Translation: Mama, Papa, stay behind me. I shall vanquish this cretin who would dare dampen your spirits.

The Caleb and Golden Guard Ghost or Illusion in For the Future is interpreted differently by fans and haters of Belos those who think he pure evil thought it was their ghosts haunting him for his sins while those who like him thought it was repressed guilt this has done nothing to help Belos’s reputation in the fandom and unless your chronically online those were illusions and to top it all off it was never mention again and Papa Titan dismissed him and some fans take his words as true. I think the Crew being vague on Belos Past and how sympathetic he is, is the main downfall of the show writing and one of the reason why Belos fans get bullied
I feel like that's just a problem with Belos in general; casual fans and those who dislike see him as simply evil and nothing more. But fans who were invested in the potential of his character and story obviously saw something more and the show was just vague enough to make convincing arguments that there was more to him.
It is extremely frustrating to have canonical facts such as the Wittebanes only becoming witch hunters to fit in, which has huge implications for their story and the themes of the show, only for that to never be mentioned again and for Masha to undercut their own story about how "little bro was jealous of big bro."
It feels like they're trying to have their cake and eat it too, by hinting at more subtle characterization only to ignore all that and have Belos act as their Generic Bad Guy Who Represents Societal Evils.
I don't think that the writing of Belos is the main downfall of the show, I think it's just a symptom of it. The show struggles with characterization by having characters not experience actual development but switching to a different character type. Eda goes from infamous criminal to Mama Eda but she doesn't spend enough quality time with Luz to justify the change. Lilith goes from intimidating head of the Emperor's Coven to history nerd who becomes besties with the resident joke character (let's also not forget how the show largely brushed aside the fallout of Eda's curse and Lilith having to share it just to atone). Hunter spends a few episodes as the Golden Guard and then he's Sad Boy Who is Abused. I've said before that the season 1 version (or first appearance in Hunter's case) of these characters are at their most interesting and unique but by the end, they're reduced to just generically nice people.
The villains, for better or worse, don't suffer this switch. They're exactly what they're presented as despite a few tantalizing details that would suggest otherwise. The end result is a bunch of characters who act as the plot requires them too, not because of actual character growth or dynamics.
On a separate note, I don't think Belos fans are bullied because his writing is sloppy. Even if he was more explicitly sympathetic, people would still find an excuse to harass fans. I think bullies just want to make people feel bad for engaging with media in a way that is different from theirs and no amount of "justification" can excuse that. People like villains, get over it. The kind of media and characters people enjoy usually has nothing to do with their morality. But how you treat real people certainly does.

April = Tiana
Leo = Naveen
Raph = Lewis
Mikey = Mama Odie
Donnie = Ray
I am so agreeing with you about these.
Except one maybeh....., Wolf, mah frend! Can I be real? Can I be true with you?!
Donnie does not give a Ray vibe, like, at all XDD. Ray is a sunshine! Full of energy! I'd personally give that role to Mikey. Donnie could beee.... well, the ~~bitchy~~ evil step brother, who sent Leo (Naveen) away HAHA!
And mama Odie would either Splinter, or Big mama (and instead of snake, it'd be a rat or a spider yunno)
And can we all agree that we're giving the villain role to Barry the Drax? lmao

Do you think Wish would have been better if they kept the concept of romance between Asha and the star boy, and the kind and queen being a villainous couple?
TL;DR...maybe.
Tumblr media
I admit, I do really like human!Star and Magnifico/Amaya being a villainous couple as concepts -- but I don't think adding those ideas alone would've fixed Wish's shortcomings. Because I strongly believe the main reason so much of the Wish fandom has latched onto the idea of a romance for Asha in particular comes down to people feeling more for their mental AU concepts of Asha and Star than for Asha and the rest of her canon cast in the real finished product. There are no relationships in Wish -- ones featuring Asha or otherwise -- that I feel really prompt much investment or emotion in the audience.
Asha's mom and grandpa really don't have much time devoted to them, especially early on when we could establish some real history and pathos in their relationships with Asha. (Positive examples of this would be Ember and her dad in Elemental, Tiana and James and Eudora in The Princess and the Frog, or Mama Coco and Miguel in Coco.) We never even learn Asha's mom's dream even though it's picked up multiple times and the narrative makes such a big deal about Magnifico crushing it. The few lines discussing Asha's deceased father could've been cut from the story altogether and we would've lost nothing. Asha's friend group gets so little focus as individuals that it's hard to even remember most of their names. They were clearly envisioned as just "the Seven Dwarves but as teens," and honestly, them being vaguely like the Dwarfs is the only real impact they leave on a lot of people by the end. Or did a bunch of kids that went to go see the movie beg their parents for dolls of Simon and Bazeema after the movie was over? Asha and Star's dynamic can't be that interesting because Star doesn't spark any real character growth or change in Asha, nor does Asha really bond emotionally with Star. Star honestly just floats around looking cute for most of the movie, rather than doing that much of consequence. Valentino doesn't provide any significant emotional support for Asha, the way that even other cute Disney "pets" like Pascal or Pua do for isolated characters like Rapunzel and Moana. He also doesn't advance her journey in any meaningful way like Sebastian or Jacques and Gus do for Ariel and Cinderella, respectively. Asha and Magnifico's hero-villain relationship has no teeth because they have no real history prior to the events of the story (unlike Ursula using Ariel as a way to get back at her father Triton or Mother Gothel raising Rapunzel in isolation in an attempt to use her hair's magic to keep her young) and they don't serve as any kind of narrative foil to each other (unlike Jafar, who like Aladdin also uses magic and deception to try to advance his own goals, or Scar, who like Simba at the beginning of the movie "just can't wait to be king" and is focused way more on the perks of kingship rather than the responsibilities). Even Amaya and Asha can't have much of a relationship because there's no time set aside for it, and even if Amaya put in a good word for Asha with Magnifico, she didn't speak out on Asha's behalf after Magnifico vindictively cast her aside and really only decided to fight alongside Asha after Magnifico "went too far" by threatening Amaya herself (as opposed to, say, anyone else).
When my mum and I went to go see Wish, we came out of the theater feeling oddly blase about the whole story. My mum even -- upon me asking her about her thoughts on this topic before I sat down to write this -- admitted that although she "wanted to see evil defeated," and all that, she honestly just hadn't cared about any of the characters that much. She wanted Magnifico to lose because it was justice for Magnifico to lose -- not because she was actively rooting for Asha, her friends, or Rosas overall. She wanted good to triumph and evil to fail, but none of the characters and their relationships had made her that invested in seeing how that came about. And considering that every single character in every story ever written is largely shaped by the relationships they have with other characters, that means that Wish's primary failing is not a lack of romance, either for its main lead or its villains --
It's a lack of love.
Any kind of sincere, selfless, development-inducing, chemistry-fueled love. Not necessarily romantic love -- Disney's Revival work has actually shown just how diverse love can be through films like Zootopia, Encanto, and Frozen -- but real love between the characters, built on the back of history and camaraderie and meaningful screen time. Love that adds layers to their personality, fuels their choices and actions, and ultimately helps them bloom into better, more complete people. Instead I would argue that the only "love" in Wish is with ideas from past Disney projects -- that's why there are more Easter eggs and overt meta references to other projects in this movie than there are scenes that actively stir your emotions. You know -- the way Mulan does when she decides to steal her father's armor, or Marlin does when he gingerly picks up Nemo's cracked egg in his flippers and cradles it, or Cinderella's stepsisters do when they rip apart the dress the mice made for Cinderella, or Pinocchio does when he watches in horror as Lampwick turns into a donkey, or Tarzan does when he comforts Kala after he comes out dressed in his biological father's old clothes and she starts to cry.
The reason a lot of fans love these two ideas -- villain!Magnifico/Amaya and human!Star/Asha -- so much is because these two relationships, even just in concept art, prompted more emotion out of them than any relationship in the entire finished film.
Tumblr media
Perhaps if that same level of emotion was brought out in these relationships in a real movie, that would've helped, but only if the rest of the film had also been trimmed down and edited so as to help tell a story with those two elements. Slim down the overstuffed cast. Have Asha's family actually have a point, or cut them. Give Asha and Magnifico some sort of real history and/or compare-contrast dynamic. Develop Star as a character. Give both Star and Asha character arcs. Make the music more essential to telling the story.
Without a lot of additional changes on top of those two concepts being used, I think the ideas of a hero and villain couple would've only just made the list of ideas that were only half-baked in the final product longer. After all, if Star was Asha's love interest, you'd still really have to have good writing and a lot of chemistry between the two characters in order to sell your audience on a love story between them. Not saying it can't be done -- Tangled and Elemental both did it quite well -- but just throwing the two characters together as is (namely, rather underdeveloped) and making them romantic partners by itself isn't enough. Honestly, I think a platonic or even familial-esque relationship between Star and Asha could've been just as powerful, if that love between them really came through. Just look at the bonds between characters like Judy and Nick from Zootopia or Miguel and Hector in Coco. Even keeping Star as less explicitly human could've been fine, if the relationship between them and Asha was strong enough. Stitch and Lilo's relationship is rock-solid in Lilo and Stitch, and Stitch isn't even remotely human. Even Soul did something kind of interesting with Joe Gardner and his relationship with 22 by giving them something of a mentor-student bond. Maybe a quasi-"young parent/child" relationship between Asha and Star could've even been interesting, if it was written well!
I do think both ideas had great potential in giving Wish more of an identity that could help set it apart from its predecessors -- I mean, we've never had a human character have a romance with a supernatural being or a villainous couple in a Disney animated film before -- but including them wouldn't have fixed Wish by itself.

It's Not Pain (It's Applause)
So!! I learned today is one of my fav albums' anniversary, and of course i had to write something quickly based on a song in the album!! I present you this Dimension Hopper Leo AU fic, which is just Hop looking through his adventures and thinking at late night hours. I didn't check it for any mistakes, so i hope everything is correct haha!! The song that the fic is heavily inspired is "Battle Cries" by The Amazing Devil :]
(Also Null belongs to @noxvee6 and Twin-Sync AU belongs to @little-banjo-frog ^^ )
Tagging @tmntaucompetition because it is mentioned here too, even if not very detailed hehe
《 words and ao3 link will be added later, I don't think there are anything that needs warning, but if there is please tell me so I can add!!》
☆ ☆ ☆
He had never thought he would see an older version himself from an outside view, let alone himself. But fate had surprised him. Perhaps it wasn't fate at all, but his choices.
Turning the pages of the notebook he wrote his discoveries in, he sighed. He looked at the pictures of Neon. He was one of the future versions of himself that he had met. He had ended up being a great friend to him, teaching him some basics. He smiled at the picture of him being busy as a leader. Neon had given him hope, maybe one day he could be like him. He was afraid of the possibility and the responsibility, but those were just a few details next to many good possibilities.
He still regretted not asking him some things, but who knows, maybe one day he would. And maybe one day he could annoy the heck out of him, tell him he met a Leo with hair, pointing out his lies. (He was aware he could never know about that possibility, but it was worth teasing the old man.)
He also was one of the people who had proven he wasn't alone. When alone, at night he thought about how without his family he wouldn't go far, he would remember him just like others. He would answer the question of who would save him if he fell (but could they save him when he fell in the deepest part of it all, when he would accept he wouldn't be able to go back home?).
Leo shook his head. He didn't want to think of any possibilities about the future. He had found a moment of relaxation, a calm hour. Who would've known it would be so hard to rest while visiting almost every timeline that exists? Somehow, trouble never stopped finding them. Make it a villain, a plot twist, or a war. There always was something to do, even if he didn't belong. Even if he had his own war to win, a home to reach.
He turned the page, humming at the image of the four turtles who had recently discovered they were a family. Honestly, they  must've been idiots to not notice they were related. Or maybe it felt like that to him because these faces belonged to his family as well. Whatever, he was happy to have met them and to know fate had reunited them. They had a lot to catch up to, just as Leo would when he would reunite with his family.
Turning pages he came across the picture of younger Big Mama and Lou Jitsu. He cringed, remembering the way he ended up in the past. They sure had an interesting love story, but it definitely was not Leo's cup of tea.
He turned the page quickly. After a short while he ended up seeing the grumpiest Leo in the universe. Null's big frown was visible in the picture. His smile returned, big and genuine. Who would know a version of you who wanted you dead would end up being as close to you as your real family? Leo hoped to see him soon, tease him by calling him his big brother. He was sure Null didn't mind, but the guy would do the favor of rolling his eyes and going along with it. He was proud to know him, seeing how he grew to be a better person. He hoped he was proud to know Leo as well.
And then there were the pages dedicated to the competition he had found himself in. Various alternative versions of his family were all over the pages. He wasn't even sure if he knew all of them. He still grinned, it was fun. The other Leo and Donnie– they were team Twin-Sync–  had become great friends of his, and multiple pictures of them together decorated a single page. He had also gained a new fear towards mushrooms, and had found a new fun game to play. Who would know Muppets could be so bloodthirsty? Game nights were wild…
He closed it and sighed, so many memories. So many dimensions and timelines. He was happy for all of them. Everything he had learned, everything that helped him become someone better. Everyone he had met and knew and helped. Every time he hopped somewhere new, it felt like restarting a new work of art– at least a Mikey had used that metaphor once he explained to him his adventures. And so many times he was told to hop away once he could, but so many times Leo refused. He couldn't stand to see his family in danger (again). And no matter the pain, it was worth it. Everything was worth for any version of his family. With them he felt like he could summon the Gods and the stars. Heck, he even felt like they were Gods. (He pushed back the memory of an older self of his saying that they were just kids.)
And there were times he had trouble with those versions. Some that didn't trust him, and some that he had to not trust. There were bitter moments, but there were good ones too. (He swallowed down the pain of the words he had heard from some. The way some wield them as if he was an enemy.) They tried to get rid of him, sometimes. They must've forgotten Leo was stubborn. They could say goodbye, but he won't.
Leo took a deep breath. It was crazy how he had ended up here. Everywhere. Whatever. It was as if he was walking in the darkness searching for light, but the darkness grew. (And he was afraid he was sinking so deep it was too late.) But he wouldn't give up (even if everything felt like going against him). He wouldn't turn his nights into them, especially when he was about to hop again.
Maybe one day he would do everything. Enjoy the calm, or show his skills in a fight. Maybe he would make a season finale, find the right portal. The smiles of others that he reflected would be truly his family's. (And no longer his mask would hide the tears.) Instead of staying, he'd keep hopping as much as he would keep hoping. (He would hide his fears with every new beginning.)
And he would take a sigh. (And the battle cries in his mind would be buried deep.)
And every time, it will be worth it for them. It can't hurt him if he'd have people he loved with him.
(He wouldn't scream. Maybe he was at the end of all the things. It wasn't the time to ask himself how he was.) As long as he believed, he was okay. He was fine.
Maybe tomorrow was the day. And finally, maybe everything would be over.

Someone should write a rottmnt separated au where they were adopted by minor villains. (It's me. I should get off my ass and write it)
Leo - Ward of Capítan Piel
He was able to unlock his ninpo earlier while helping the Queen Alexis crew with portal-jacking. He's the last of his brothers to accept having a brother due to how rocky Piel and Hueso's relationship was until Piel returned the jewel-encrusted pizza cutter. Leo's a less ruthless pirate than others, but still the best sword fighter in the docks. He was actually stolen from Draxum's destroyed lab after a crew member was looting the place and heard him crying .
Donnie - Child of Warren Stone
Donnie was the product of a news story leading to a publicity stunt. He was one of the two to ever make it up to the human world and Warren happened to be going through a rough patch in his fame. On a whim he adopted the freakish baby. Donnie was able to meet April through the StoneHead Fan Club, so he's best friends with her. When Warren got mutated and Hypno came along, he didn't lose as much fame partially due to Donnie. He's the only one who knows Splinter. (Def not inspired by @tizeline and their human world raised Don noooo)
Mikey - Child of Repo
Mikey was the other baby to be brought to the surface. Splinter had done a deal with Repo and couldn't pay up (cause he had literally nothing but his clothes and kids) and in a rash decision he repoed one of the babies. That was the only time Repo felt guilt and went to return Mikey but Splinter and the other baby had already disappeared. He adopted Mikey and Mikey grew to be a scrap artist. Of course, Mikey has like 20 cats too.
Raph - Jupiter Jim's little sidekick
Raph bounced around Yokai foster care for a while after biting a shopkeep in the Hidden City streets. Eventually he ended up in the care of one of Big Mama's servants where he ran away, hiding in the human section of the hotel. Marques Moncrief happened to be shooting a movie about being forced to save an alien baby (Think Mandalorian) and he ends up just adopting Raph thinking that he adopted a real alien baby. Raph usually stays at Moncrief's museum thing and Moncrief thinks he's the only good alien

Hello, Can i request rottmnt platonic hc of mom reader (she's co-parenting with splinter and they're relationship is platonic) and enjoys spending time with her teenager turtle kids?
Like she likes to talk about science stuff with Donnie, she praises leo and boost his confident, she sewing for raph teddy bears and cook with mikey.
But i guess her only down part is whenever she gets kidnap by anybody she immediately pull out her album and show her kids's pictures to other villains, mostly big mama, that's why the kids try to save her faster before their secrets are exposed 😂😂
Mom!Reader
Tumblr media
RotTMNT + fem!reader
Warnings: platonic fluff, movie stuff mentioned, vague mentions of nightmares and injuries
A/N: Could you imagine if they had a mom? Donnie and Mikey are 100% a mama's boys and you can't tell me different. Each parent gets a twin (me and my twin are much the same)

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Donnie
Nicknames: DeeDee, Donato (the real name of the artist), Galileo, Aristotle, Archimedes, and much more.
You once called him Grimace when he was upset and he never forgave you
You are the only one allowed to hang out around Donnie's lab
You are the only one who listened to his info dumps
If the others actually listened, they might find it interesting
You might not understand all of what he's talking about, but seeing your son so passionate makes you so happy
You are the one he goes to when he has a nightmare
Donnie enjoys you singing him to sleep, its peaceful
It reminds him of when things weren't off the rails
He installed multiple trackers on you because last time you were kidnapped you showed Hypno pictures of the Turtle Tots
It made Hypno a little nicer, but there were some embarrassing memories
He once threatened to destroy your camera because of you showing the album to anyone near
Leo
Nicknames: Len, Lenny, Blue Belle, Cookie Monster, Ace, etc.
You are his biggest supporter
He goes to you when he needs help, when he's not feeling his best
When he was younger, he often bunked with you and Donnie
He just didn't like being away from his twin
He didn't come to you often when he was little
In fact, he doesn't go to you very often as a teen
Opting for Splinter
But you can't be everyone's favorite, you knew that Leo needs Splinter like Donnie needs you.
Leo isn't embarrassed by the pictures in the album, in fact he looks at it quite often
Mikey
Nicknames: Lino, Angi, Michi, Goldie, Firecracker, Giorgione, Caravaggio, etc.
Cooking with Mikey was always a blast
He was energetic, but serious
Music would be playing while you 2 worked
You could also be found painting with Mikey
Whether it was on the walls of the skate rink or if it was on canvases in his room
Mikey always comes to you for advice
Splinter and his brothers have a tendency to underestimate and protect him, but he knows you won't
You were the person he ran to about his hands after he saved Leo
He cried, but you showed him how strong he was
How even with shaky hands, art can still be made
Why would he be embarrassed by the album? He helped make it
Raph
Nicknames: Rafa, Alfie, Ray, R.J., Bubs, Cuddles, etc.
You and Raph grew apart as he got older, but you still make him sweaters and outfits for his bears
He loves you, he just feels like being 17, he needs to stop relying on you and Splints
When he was younger, he would watch you make him teddy bears
You'd let him name them, write their names down on a heart shaped piece of fabric and place it inside (like Build-A-Bear)
He still had those bears
Although he didn't sleep with them in fear of destroying them,
They sit nicely on the shelf across from his bed
So they watch over him
Absolutely goes nuts when you get kidnapped, knowing you're probably showing whoever it is baby photos of him
He was a cute kid, but not everyone needs to see that!
