untitled kolena fic ??? one shot ???

i've been writing for kolena lately and im just... still havent finished some of my wips for them (i sure hope i don't take too long for it to be finished lmao or else ill die) anyways here's a snippet bc ive been so inactive lately with my procrastinating, lack of inspiration/motivation to write and also bc classes are starting (i'm a sophomore now so, yay! p.s. i can feel the burning stare of my readings thru the back of my head as im writing this so) so sorry for disappearing...

Elena has only ever heard of negativity surrounding her alleged spouse. How he’s not of noble birth and that her grandmother, Tatia Petrova scammed the entire family for arranging such a marriage partner unbefitting of their royal status as Monarchs of the United States of America. 

She slips on her robe, shuffling to the bathroom to wash her face.

“Marriage.” Rebekah’s voice starts out strained, as if she could not fully grasp her thoughts. “So who is the lucky guy then?”

Elena throws a towel over her shoulder, smearing a generous amount of mint toothpaste on the cheap hotel toothbrush and shrugs, “I don’t know who he is.” She watches the rumpled sheets pool at Rebekah’s waist, revealing a set of swollen, perky nipples. She fights the temptation to return back to bed and bury her mouth in the other woman’s breasts. 

“This is it then.” Rebekah turns her polished nails in a circular motion, face set in a ridiculous frown. 

For us. Elena catches the implication without a need to spell it out loud. She turns back to the sink, spitting the bubbly substance down the drain and wiping the remains with a towel. There is a knock at the door, three sharp rasps indicating her parcel of clothes would be behind the door. 

The tension is high in the air as she opens the door to scoop the paperbag in her arm, proceeding to change into the nondescript clothing. Rebekah’s offended scoff rings through the empty room. 

“You are cruel.”

Elena zips the hoodie close, eyes trailed on her partner’s fury. “I am the nation’s Crown Princess.” Is what she says in response, crackling in the air. She wears her mask perfectly, just as expected of the next heir to the throne. 

“Would it have been different if I was born a noble?” A beat passes. Elena holds the door open, observing the constellation of tears dotting Rebekah’s cheeks. Finn quietly procures the bag in her hand, standing upright next to the opened door, invisible to Rebekah’s eye. She catches his gaze, lowering her head in a frequent gesture.

‘Take care of this for me, yeah?’

Finn nods, stepping out in the light to take Elena’s place.

The door closes.

Elena climbs in the car, leaning her head against the window to wait for Finn to be done with his business. She plugs her phone back on, revealing a handful of calls from both her mother and father and scrolls down to the edge of her contact list, blocking Rebekah’s number and deleting their conversation.

Finn’s back for no more than 3 minutes later, still pristine looking. Not a single hair out of place and no scratches. She throws the first aid kick at the back as Finn climbs in the driver's seat.

“I take it went well?”

He rolled his eyes, starting the engine, “She had many demands, Your Highness.”

“Nothing that would damage the Royal Treasury?” 

Finn is silent as he drives away from the hotel. Elena snorts, propping her feet above the glove compartment.

I'm once again thinking about the missed opportunities to have Klaus and Kol bond more. Part of Klaus' whole motivation as a vampire is to get his werewolf part back and to finally be stronger than Mikael (sort of, I'm simplifying) both of which can be obtained by breaking his curse. But Kol? Kol is the only other original that can relate to having a fundamental part of themself ripped away from them. Klaus might not have known he was a werewolf until he killed, but he likely still had a connection he couldn't explain, as evident by him going to watch the wolves transform. And something he'd never been able to explain was now gone. He might only be able to realise the connection afterwards through its absence.

Kol though. Kol had grown up with magic, a connection to nature and the world around him in a way the rest of his siblings supposedly didn't have. And then he gets turned. And not only has his baby brother died, his father has just murdered him and the rest of his siblings after forcing them to drink human blood, which he'll later learn. Now, not only does he have to deal with the grief of Henrik's death and also his own but also the loss of his magic. A loss that's likely only worsened by Kol being a self-proclaimed child prodigy.

Kol is pretty much the only one who could understand what Klaus is going through with the binding of his wolf. We know Kol searched for ways to get his magic back/carry on practicing magic in the same way that Klaus was looking for ways to break his curse. While Klaus likely could still feel his wolf there despite being bound, Kol has no access to his magic anymore. I just think they should've been able to bond or connect over their shared loss of an intrinsic aspect of their selves at the hands of their parents

#TVD #The Mikaelsons #Kol Mikaelson #Klaus Mikaelson #briefly back on my the originals shouldve gotten to be a family goddammit and as someone from a big family im personally offended bs #i did right a lil snippet about them bonding over this that i havent posted yet for the joml verse but still think its an unexplored concep #need more witch!kol acknowledgement honestly. just need more content of my boy #anyway. klaus having a fascination with the moon and kol telling him about celestial events and how it affects his magic when theyre boys #klaus losing that connection to the moon feeling lost & extra tempermental feeling his wolf claw at its binds and vowing to break his curse #kol determined to get his magic back at any cost relating to that devasting loss and promising to help him find a loophole for his curse #kol who becomes extra reckless and determined when he learns that theres a way to break klaus' curse so maybe he can get his magic back too #that knowledge and recklessness combined with his loss of magic driving him to become the volatile vampire that we see #that leads to him being daggered repeatedly but that first time breaks something in that bond between him & klaus that never fully recovers #it makes him bitter and resentful only fueling his reckless behaviour particularly when there seems to be no leads on reclaiming his magic #that he becomes distant from his siblings in the process especially with finn still daggered but that distance only cements the idea #to his siblings that hes a danger and cant be trusted that he needs to be daggered if theyre to stay safe from mikael #the loss of his magic leading to his spiral as a vampire and him being ostracised by his family > actual tvdu kol canon #klaus being trapped in a room staring at the corpse of his little brother knowing he never repaired that relationship with him #and now he never can so he refuses to look away as penance and a reminder of his failings to his little brother #*edit: one of the reblogs on this post is the author of big bad wolf and honestly she does an amazing job at portraying the mikaelsons #as actual siblings if you havent read it its one of my favourites for characterisations but we need more 😭 i want it to be the norm

The Originals - Klaroline

Can anyone help me find a vampire diaries/originals story I can’t remember the name of? I’m hoping the details I remember are correct!

So in New Orleans, Caroline needs to go and meet Marcel at Rousseau’s but they don’t think he will believe Klaus would get with a cheery baby vamp so she gets all dressed up in leather and says she is like 300 or something. When she gets there she compels someone to follow her with her bag and talks business with Marcel in the back room and choking cami for asking her to pay for her drink. Later on Marcel asks Caroline to handle a small group of supernaturals who are questioning his authority and Caroline wants to talk to them and handle it without violence. Marcel tells her not to go on her own. It turns out that’s because there are a lot more of them and they are stronger than expected. She tries talking but there ends up being a fight and I think she took an older vamp (maybe 2) with her, possibly Rebekah, Sage or Katherine. From what I can remember of the story, Caroline takes the lead on a lot of the negotiations with different groups and tried to avoid violence. I’ve been looking for ages and can’t find it anywhere. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

hope's preference and love for beignets is literally such a soft and heartwarming moment because this food makes her feel closer to her dad and to new orleans, the city her father built and the city she was told she's the princess of

and it brings her back to that memory specifically, where klaus was present in her life and she saw him as an innocent protector and she wasn't aware of his murderous tendencies, only his love and affection for her and how he chose to show it by basically spoiling her with beignets
