ugh I've got a handful of books to read but I'm having trouble

1 book is the 5th book in the series The Lightning Struck Heart but it's severely creeping me out

the MC is literally magically handcuffed to someone because he's betrothed to him and apparently in the other person's culture engaged people spend a month bound together as a trial before marriage

but these two have never met and didn't know they were betrothed as children (very likely the contract is a trick but that's the least of it at this point)

The other country is forcing MC to do the 30 day handcuffed thing with the threat of war and also shutting down trade. Technically MC doesn't have to agree to the actual marriage

everyone, everyone, is telling the MC that he's overreacting and should give the guy a chance

and the book is clearly leading toward MC being wrong originally and blah blah blah the betrothed guy is "perfect" and the MC is being "mean" and "cold" and "cruel" like holy fuck???

it's so creepy and gross??

the betrothed guy is also like, he keeps insisting it's not his fault, that his royal advisor(s) are to blame, but he's also very aggressive about how he's going to woo and win over the MC

So, in my umk post I said I'd be dedicating a separate post for Käärijä and his performance.

As I have no own words left, I'll borrow some from Jari Saario (the "rowing boyfriend"). Käärijä really is a phenomenon, a legend and an eternal national treasure.

It was clear that in both umk and Emma gaala, no effort or expence was spared when planning/making K's performances. In umk final the visual production of Ruoska was much better than in any of the actual competing acts (and this was after umk team had already planned everything for another K song and had had to change everything because K and his team wanted to do Ruoska instead of the originally planned release). I mean, Ks and Erikas performance was the most complete one (the opening act by Benjamin and Kuumaa coming a close second). Their clothing/appearance, staging and the visuals in the backround were 5/5 (god I love those first flashes of Erika!). Yle/umk really seemed to want to say thank you K and to show how much they appreciate Käärijä once more.

Käärijä is a natural performer and he was 100% in his element on that stage. He proved once again that he is not a one hit wonder. And in Emma gaala he just proved that he owns every stage (and audience).

so here's a few i really like :

The Green Creek Series by TJ Klune - now when I tell people that my favourite book series is about gay werewolves. they presumably judge me. but this series is one of the most well written things i have ever read. It doesn't follow typical A/B/O dynamics AT ALL which makes it really interesting and is written by a queer author also. everytime i thought the last book i read would be my favourite, i was mistaken. there's such a sense of brotherhood, family and community in it. its one of my all time favourites.

All For The Game by Nora Sakavic - this series is absolutely insane. it is one book series that i absolutely LOVE but rarely reccomend to anyone. its somwhow about a made up sport, a mafia organization and also is somehow gay. its also so good. i read this when i was about 15 and it has had me in a grip ever since.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi - I read the first shatter me book when i was in the 8th grade and i borrowed it from my best friend. I got in trouble that day for staying up till 5am to finish it. i will admit, I have not read all the books, but i have read most of them and i love them. Aaron Warner is the ONLY blond man i will ever love and i mean that.

This Savage Song by V.E. Schwab - I analyzed this book for a book report and then presented it to department officials at an English moderation. when i tell you i could tell you VERY DETAIL of this duology (the duology is called Monsters Of Verity). I absolutely loved the characters. there were some weak points but just. overall. I really like this book.

The Mark by Edyth Bulbring - I wasn't going to include this book on this list initially, but this book was my setwork in the 10th grade and I absolutely loved it. it was the first and only time in my life that i throughly enjoyed a setwork.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - yes i know this is a popular book. yes you've probably read it but this book means so much to me. the hunger games is the first book i bought with my own money. I bought it from a little second-hand bookshelf in a vintage shop and it's one of my most treasured possessions. the books themselves were absolutely brilliant and i adore them. katniss everdeen will ALWAYS be that girl btw.

i just listened to the lightning struck heart by tj klune, audiobook read by michael lesley.

i don’t think i’ve laughed at something so much for a very long time. i enjoyed this a lot! the main character is so smart and kind but also a dumb adorable idiot (affectionate), his friends are great, and the situations he gets himself into are so farcical but he gets himself out of them in the most ridiculous ways. even the villains are dorks.

i read along with the book while i listened, i think a lot of the laughs came from the narration - it sounded like he really enjoyed reading it and laying down the voice track. i feel like if you’ve never been into audiobooks, this would be a good one to get into them with.
