So, I plan to eventually play The Legend of Zelda. Specifically, the NES one (though not on an actual NES, that sounds like a nightmare). I plan to print out and mark up a map of the overworld so that I know where I’m going and how I’m getting there. The map I have chosen, thankfully, has helpfully already marked where to find every item in terms of its overworld location and the recommended dungeon order.

Does anyone have any advice on how to draw the paths so I don’t get confused? Such as color recommendations (to contrast with he map no matter where I draw), how to calculate the shortest and/or easiest path between each dungeon, etc.?

Also, general gameplay advice is welcomed. I am a fairly experienced Zelda player (beaten OOT, WW, played a good chunk of MM, TP, and ALBW, and a little bit of ALTTP and LA), but NES games can be weird. (Thankfully, saving won’t be a concern, as I plan to play through NSO — I am not messing with death-as-saves when I can’t even start with full health!)

I’ve been getting really into old zelda games recently, but for some reason i’m very, very dedicated to only playing as wolf link. So naturally I made sprite edits of 30 year old games I’ve never played before. And then I made my own artwork of the sprites based on the artwork in the manuals of each game. Which is how normal people play video games, I think? Here’s some sketches

It's my boy's bday, and all i can offer are scraps and an abandoned WIP. This is why I give out gift cards instead.

It's been almost a year since I drew this little dude and I'm ashamed to admit I forgot how. Sob...

As for the comic, I couldn't think up of a dialogue that would fit. The dialogue i initially had didn't flow as well as i wanted it too. Because of this, I couldn't think of a way to end this.

This "art" thing is so hard! Ah well.... y'all are free to give suggestions.

[Legend of Zelda]: 38 years and ongoing.

Happy 38th Anniversary to the game that started the legend - the original Legend of Zelda on the Famicom, released on 21 Feb 1986 [Japan release].

This started as a "quick sketch" to commemorate the release. But I got carried away with the finer details. Especially on the Famicom and NES consoles. I'm really happy with how they turned out.

Link's outfit is a updated version of my 80's fashion design from my old [Fashion Line Up] series for LinkedUniverse AU.
