I used to think leap years were neat, but now they fill me with dread because of the year long dumpster fire we call a presidential election. I used to love summer, but now I just want to crawl into a hole and hibernate until fall because the Supreme Court hands down five or ten of the worst decisions you've ever heard in quick succession. Every other Halloween is like standing on the edge of a cliff, and you have to wonder if your civil rights are gonna be dashed on the rocks below in a week. We live in a constant state of stress and relief, tension and compression, "oh shit oh shit oh shit," "oh please oh please oh please," "well, that wasn't as bad as it could have been," "oh no, it's so much worse, but I'm numb to it because this is the new normal and we'll never go back to the way it was before..."

The cycle is unending, there's no long term reprieve, we are in hell.

What's the end goal of capitalism? Where does it stop? Eventually everyone will be priced out of every industry, no homes, no cars, no free time because of multiple shitty jobs they can't leave, so what happens then? What straw will break the camel's back? This has to be a bubble. Short term gain, long term loss, corporate profits can't grow exponentially forever. We're teetering on the edge, and companies hope we'll stay balanced there indefinitely, but there's no way we can reach equilibrium; we either back away from the edge, or we go over, and I think we all know which one is more likely. Someday, almost certainly within in the next 20 or 30 years, it's all gonna come crashing down, and Gen Alpha is gonna get stuck with the check.

What comes next? It's not gonna resolve itself into some Star Trek socialist utopia, that's not how history has ever worked. From the ashes will rise something far worse than we can possibly imagine.
