i've seen a lot of dp fans in the dpxdc fandom talk about not having access to comics so here. it's completely free, good quality scans (for most things), basically any dc comic you could want is there. you should have an adblocker but the ads aren't the worst if you don't, just noticeable and annoying. you're not gonna get a virus, i've been using the site for years, as have many other fans.
if you genuinely want to read the comics, take advantage of the sites comic fans have been using. there's new and old stuff and everything in between. crossovers too. whatever you want to read, you'll find there.

BRO mutant mayhem was so fucking good not gonna lie if it wasn’t I was on the path of world destruction, but now that I’ve watched it I put my mass murder note into the archives I’m a different person now I’ve changed
Raph stole the show for me I loved him so much I swear he was chaos incarnate and never apologized for it. God bless. i’ve never been a fan of shipping April with the turtles, but the shipping part wasn’t even bad. Actually, I think this movie did the shipping of the turtle so well compared to the shit we’ve gotten in the past. just such a fun time fun story and just all the love they went into the movie was amazing long live TMNT

Slightly related: in pretty recent dc canon, Slade and Talia do have a biological test tube baby together. his name is Respawn. I think neither Talia nor Slade knew about him though bc it was all Ra's al Ghul fuckery ?
Yeah Respawn, that poor little thing. You're correct, neither Talia nor Slade knew anything about him. - it's one of those thing where Ra's al Ghul goes "brilliant mastermind is 600+ year old and instead of doing anything which makes a lick of sense with his centuries of hindsight and experience of the world, he obsesses over people's genes".
Basically he spliced Talia's DNA with Slade's to replicate whatever gave him his meta-abilities, and since DC can't decide if Slade's abilities derive from his meta-gene, from the serum he was given or from both (hell, they barely can decide if Slade's hair is white because of the serum or because man's old), everything makes so little sense that somehow what Ra's al Ghul does ends up working, and he manages to create this test tube baby who indeed has both Talia and Slade's DNA, and the latter's meta-abilities.
But instead of doing anything meaningful with this kid, he keeps him locked up and tortures him (?), or uses him to get organs when Damian needs them (???), and doesn't even give him a name. Respawn picks out his own nickname, and he survives only because his healing factor keeps him alive despite all of the above, and somehow he also stays sane despite the years of isolation and hardcore physical abuse.
At some point he manages to run away and connect with Slade, and Slade *immediately* (and I mean after barely batting an eye) decides that this is his son and he will cherish him and protect him. And of course a couple of issues later Respawn gets brutally murdered right before Slade's eyes, because DC art directors are so competent and the only development they could think of was that of re-traumatizing Slade in the exact same way as it already happened with Grant (and with Joseph pre-reboot), making him lose a child brutally and by failing to protect him. Right before his eyes.
And so they also wasted a perfectly good character (Respawn I mean) which could have had an amazing plotline both with Slade and Rose & by himself, and a lot of potential for future development, just because they wanted the quick and easy drama of "child gets tortured for all his brief life for absolutely no reason, finally finds someone that wants to take care of him and dies a horrible death".
You can tell it didn't really work because not many people even know that Respawn exist, and those who know didn't get the time to truly grow fond of him since he's there for such a short time. And I bet you can also tell I'm pissed about it.

i keep seeing people criticising tv shows and movies by being like "i thought x character was bad but im NOT BLAMING the actor i think the actor is GREAT and WONDERFUL i blame the WRITERS and DIRECTORS"
usually this is directed at female characters and characters of colour and like while i understand the impulse to not dunk on actors and actresses who are more likely to be receiving really shitty hate comments just for existing i do think a) the attacks on writers and directors are also really mean and personal sometimes? and also b) this feels incredibly performative

Patreon question
I'm focusing hard on budgeting, and one of the things I want to do more of in the coming year is support independent creators/small groups on Patreon and Substack, even if I can only do a little bit at a time. I have a few creators I already support on Patreon, and two on Substack, but I'd love to support more.
I know you've got creators that you love to support on these platforms! Tell me who you support and why you started supporting them if you have creators that are especially unique or near and dear to you. Anything and everything, across the board, I love supporting small business and I love finding new people and niches I never heard about before. There're no wrong answers here!

Doctor Who Opinion: I see a lot of "the writing was bad but the acting was good" but to me both Jodie and Chibnall did a bad job (Chibnall more so but still). I do think Jodie is a good actor in general but on Doctor Who she limited herself too much by acting like she was just on "a little kids show" and forced her perfomance to be more like David's. She did improve a bit by the end of her run but not enough imo. Anyway, I'm just curious about your thoughts on this.
Yeah, I've talked a little about this, though I prefer not to dwell on it because Jodie got so much undeserved hate, and I haven't seen her in anything else so I can't really judge her as an actor because the writing in DW didn't give her that much range. She might be really good in other roles! I don't know! And I don't think she's bad in DW, but I don't think her characterisation plays to her strengths, and I feel she struggles to give the kind of multi-layered performance the Doctor needs. idk how to explain it exactly other than she's too reactive and... maybe too earnest sometimes? Which is weird because she's also one of the most closed off Doctors. But she just doesn't have the air of mystery that the others do, or the sense that they've got a lifetime of conflicting thoughts and emotions swirling beneath the surface.
It really hit home when I rewatched Eleven's era a couple of years ago and Matt Smith was just absolutely nailing the vibe that I think they were kinda going for far less successfully with Thirteen.
