two of my personal biggest issues with BG3 are 1. Wyll has so much potential as a character and yet a lot of aspects of his storyline are handled in a really frustrating way and it never comes together with the same level of depth and impact as, say, Astarion's or Shadowheart's, and 2. he was the handsomest man in the game and then they did that to him :(

this new RTD Era feels more whimsical than the other RTD Era did, or maybe it's just me? I don't think it's bad, just something that I noticed.

It definitely is, though not in the same way that Moffat's era was. I'm curious to see how it'll play out across the season.

reading devil's chord reviews i feel like maybe the biggest make-or-break is that i didn't like maestro as a villain that much? like. they were a more entertaining but just as hammy version of the toymaker and that was it.

whereas people who seemed to really enjoy the episode are being like 'theyre a fantastic villain, best new villain we've had for years'. which is fair but I just don't really see it.

they aren't scary or menacing or funny the way Missy is. their biggest strength is hamminess, which is fun, but I felt like there wasn't enough antagonistic chemistry between them and the doctor/ruby for it to work? hamminess in a vacuum is meh. just didn't work for me.

i feel like an actual musical number (duet between doctor and maestro?) might have worked better for that. but i just didn't vibe with them.

#yeah there were lots of potentially fun elements in this episode but none of them truly came together imo #personally I think the Spice Up Your life scene from The Giggle worked better than anything here #except for the piano scene on the rooftop with Ruby which I really liked #I think the fundamental problem for me was that if you have an episode all about music I'd like more interesting musical numbers y'know? #Doctor Who #DW spoilers #DW criticism #(to be clear I didn't dislike the episode I just thought it was mid and didn't live up to its potential)

Just watched the first episode

It was cute! Loved the babies and the Doctor and Ruby's interactions with them. Very adorable.

I'm also enjoying Fifteen more and more with each episode. Ncuti's performance is great. Ruby is fun too, almost has a mild Clara vibe.

As always I am against the Timeless Child retcon but I'm glad RTD at least has a better idea than Chibnall did of how to use it dramatically.

However, society has evolved past the need for last of the Time Lords angst. To think we could have been free of that forever if S12 hadn't happened 😔

Doctor!! Time Lords don't all go by titles, that's just you renegade weirdos!!!

(Hoping and praying that this is part of a setup for the Monk. 🙏 Just want them back so bad...)

The dinosaur scene was fun but I'm disappointed that it was random. I was so hoping Ruby would finally be the companion to do the sensible thing when presented with a time machine and immediately ask to see dinosaurs. That's what I'd do.

Society has also evolved past the need for the whole sonicking the phone thing. Always thought that was very silly. #RTDMustBeStopped
