Gosh it's late, I shouldn't be up and might change my mind in the morning but brain just won't let it go tonight sjdjfk

I just,, I've been going back and forth about sharing these cause on the one hand I'm very emotional about them right now and happy with how the sketches turned out but on the other ajsjfk I'm Very Emotional About Them right now and harder to put stuff out I'm attached to and feel a little self conscious sharing anything heavy but sjdjkf for now I guess

Putting below the cut because,, well, dealing with grief (and also partial nudity I guess)

First set I was just rambling about it to Arin a lot but I don't know, haircuts have been getting me emotional this week. Theres a few scenarios in our different stories w emotional or significant haircuts, but Maggie's has been on my mind a lot.

Any pics I've shared with modern au Link and Maggie's family you'd see 5 kids, but they actually had 6. Their second oldest son Aster's twin (think we decided her name was Autumn, before Autumn Link was ever a thing) passed away at only a few days old. The loss was awful for both of them, even harder to navigate while still having a toddler and newborn to take care of. Maggie especially struggled with her body still trying to recover from twins. She'd usually be the one between them both to be able to stay hopeful but,, I kinda think she already had a tendency towards PPD and following months really were some of the darkest moments of the lady's life. Grateful that Link was right there for her the whole time.

And yeah, at the point she's just trying to survive, her princess-length hair isn't manageable anymore. Link's been something of a hobby stylist since his teen years, so he helps her with it. Hurts him too though, not because she isn't beautiful in his eyes, he just knows how much it used to mean to her. For as long as they've known eachother, she wouldn't let him dye or cut it and always took extra special care to keep it healthy and pretty.

It took a long time, and the pain never goes away but the two did manage to find peace eventually and keep going (bigger age gap between Aster and Ivy than any of the other kids though.)

And I guess haircuts got me thinking about visible changes and lots of feelings about these two aging together. Link doesn't always look like a rockstar, chronic illness leaves him pretty weak and frail at times. And then Maggie, I mean the lady had 6 kids, she doesn't keep the same petite pixie figure she had when they met- softer, stretchmarks and scars but- I mean just get really emotional I guess about how none of it is a turnoff for either of them. Just love each other even more deeply as time goes on. Knowing the story and sacrifice their partner's gone through for every "blemish" just makes them find each other even more beautiful then when they met

AH! Don't usually buy special dolls so quickly back to back but someone was selling another one of my holy grail dream dolls on FB marketplace for like half of what I normally see her at and TvT she's so freaking gorgeous I'm giddy right now

Titania the fairy queen from A Midsummer Night's Dream (2004)

This is silly but finally found one of my dream dolls, Aine from Barbie's 2008 Legends of Ireland collectors line and like I love her so much and wanted to show her off 😅💕

But then like lowkey just really love the little collection I have, still growing slowly but don't get to show people v much so like akdkf other dolls under the cut cause I just think they're pretty TvT

Harpist Angel (1997) and Fairy of the Garden (2001) still looking for Fairy of the Forest

Then Legends of Ireland Aine (2008) and Princess of Ireland (2001)

Princes and the Pauper's Anneliese and Erika (2004) and Sugarplum Princess Clara from Barbie's Nutcracker (2001)

Liana and Alexa from Barbie & the Diamond Castle (2008)

Margot Robbie in the Return to Barbieland outfit from Barbie (2023.) (Preordered "I am Kenough" Ken too because he made me laugh so much, he'll get here sometime this year lol)

Mostly collect Barbie and a few Disney dolls but these two girlies are my exceptions. On the left is ICY Fortune Days Virgo doll from their twelve constellations line (want to get the Cancer doll too eventually) and on the right is Rainbow High's Victoria Whitman (2023.) I love her freckles so freaking much

Maggie beloved is my ooak doll, I think I've shared her with you guys before

Rosella from Barbie as the Island Princess (2007.) She was my favorite doll to play with growing up and couldn't believe I found another in box.

Then Rapunzel is from the 2001 movie and Elina is from Mermaidia (2006.) You can see Serafina peeking out there too, forgot to move her next to Anneliese.

Snowflake Ballerina (2000) and the Swan Queen from Swan Lake (1998)

The first version of Peter Rabbit Barbie (1997). I'm still looking for the second one in the blue dress.

Austrian Barbie (1999) and Prominade in the Park Barbie (1997)

Then the 2000 Celebration Holiday doll and a Flynn and Rapunzel wedding set from the Disney store that I bought a long time ago, but looks like they're selling this set again so akdkf nice! (Plus a 17" Rapunzel I want to repaint someday and a little Miraculous movie Marinette from last year.)

And then the 2022 Holiday Barbie with red hair (she was a Walmart exclusive and hard to find because very unique face, I lucked out and found one at a TJ Maxx for cheap 😅) and 2013 Holiday Barbie (she, 2000 holiday doll and one other i have in a drawer somewhere were my first display and not play dolls actually)

Gosh sorry that took me so long but! Dad Link, his little girl, and his Zelda too as a treat (little thing based on Edmund Leighton's painting "The Accolade".)

And for his story, decided to put what I have for now below the cut, it all may be tweaked a bit later but yknow

For Link, I think I mentioned before that he has Sheikah ancestry in a timeline where their people are pretty scattered. The guy still feels a certain loyalty to the crown even though Sheikah looking after and working the for the royals isn't a thing so far down the timeline. Link's fighting style is less "heroic knight" with broadsword and more lightfooted assassin, prefers bow/arrow + knifes over any kind of heavy weaponry and armor. Before meeting his wife and having their daughter, pretty sure he was involved in- don't want to say "shady" work but uh- he has a certain skill set and has been in a few fights.

Had some of the best years of his life, but lost his wife to an illness too soon, making a promise to her that he would take care of their little one and she'd never have to be alone. At the point we'd meet him, its just he and his daughter, Adelyna. They're very close and mean the world to each other.

For Zelda, she's the kingdom's queen at this point in her life. She comes across somewhat cold and stoic, but she's a compassionate person under it all. When she was younger, Zelda loved to travel, seeing both her kingdom and places beyond it, but eventually her hand was forced and she had to step up and take the throne.

My thought was that at the point we meet our heroes, theres deep political unrest in the kingdom, rumors of the cycle recurring soon, and whispers of threats against the queen. After an assasination attempt, the castle is put on lockdown and leaves Zelda feeling like a caged bird. Link catches wind of what's happening and feels a deep obligation to offer his service to her because of his heritage, but with tension so high it's unlikely they'd knowingly let a kid stay in the castle (even though with it on lockdown it's arguably one of the safest places to be.) Guy is pretty torn, he can't bring himself to leave his daughter somewhere where she cant reach him if she needs, she's already lost her mama, but it's also hard to sleep at night knowing the kingdom is being held together by a thread and his skills could make a difference (especially if, debating on it, but if he already has the triforce on his hand and *knows* things won't end well without him.) Since Adelyna already has an affinity for the fairy spell (her name means small winged one on purpose ajdjfk) he makes the decision to ask her to use it so she can come with him without too many questions (hero with a fairy companion is a tale as old as time and woven into many of the legends.)

Link works quickly and quietly, it's not long before he's accepted into the castle and assigned as a sort of personal bodyguard to the queen (think triforce helps with that, although he keeps it quiet as possible and theres few people there who know who he really is.) In a room with the queen, he lacks the intimidation factor of an armored knight and classic hero, but its a bit unsettling how good he is at watching from and moving in the shadows. In his time shadowing the queen, he starts to notice tiny oddities in some interactions she has and begins to piece together an inside plot and like gosh it's scary how good he is at taking people out without anyone knowing.

Then on personal side of his story, Adelyna uses her fairy form anytime she leaves their room, only dropping the spell when she and her dad are alone. It works for a while, but the crisis lasted longer than Link ever planned on. Muffled conversations coming from his room can only be ignored for so long though, but tbh i think what finally gave him away was singing his daughter to sleep quietly. I kind of think that the queen herself was coming to request something of him but paused to listen, the guys voice sounded much different than she'd ever heard it. Whether it was her old spark of curiosity getting the better of her or suspicion, I'm not sure, but she was pretty taken aback walking in to find Link's girl there w him.

He had been pretty quiet about himself, its his nature to not say more that needed, but the lady truly had no idea he had a family at all, much less that he was a widower and single father. Think when she gave him the chance to explain himself, it was the first time he saw the softer side of her, like she had of him not long earlier, and to his surprise she allowed both to stay as long as needed. With the secret out and forced proximity queen and bodyguard have, eventually the two are able to really open up and become close friends.

(I mean, friends at the very least, I haven't decided yet, but they may be more someday- both still have a lot of healing to go through before that someday comes. And ofc, little Adelyna grows on Zelda too. The fact the little reminds the queen of her younger, spunkier self (before Life happened and she was forced to be the pretty closed off person she is now) isn't the only reason, but it definitely doesn't hurt.)
