So... Wells and Clarke were really together on the Ark.
I remember Bob saying in Conageddon that originally the love triangle was Clarke/Wells/Finn. It was teased on the show, but the fact that she calls them childhood sweethearts here makes it sound more definitive.
But, they never made it to the screen. We can only guess what Clarke's "childhood sweethearts" meant, but there was only the implication that Wells had feelings for her (Wells's dialogue with Bellamy and Finn), but they clearly chose not to make it explicit.
Or maybe what Eliza said in the clip was the original plan, which they changed by 1x03. Who tf knows.
Perhaps they had planned to have Wells for a longer time but opted for what they did. Every time they talk about season 1 it's like they were writing and rewriting it while filming it (be that as it may, it ended up being hands down a better season than s7 😆).
- I think this episode highlights something that the show struggles with throughout the series. There are so many good ideas and themes in the show, but they aren’t always properly executed.
- I wish we could have seen more positive interactions between Bellamy and Octavia before their relationship starts to fall apart, especially since their relationship is a huge plotline in the entire show.
- I also wish that we could see more of the Ark before the main plotline begins. I want to see how the Ark works instead of being told by Clarke at the beginning.
- It’s interesting seeing the beginning of Bellamy’s character arc again. He’s pissed at the Ark for killing his mother and locking Octavia up. He’s also terrified he’ll be killed when everyone on the Ark gets sent down. So he takes over as a leader of the group, but only for selfish reasons (revenge and to avoid being killed). Later, that gradually changes as he grows to care about the people he’s leading.
- My goodness, I missed the gang.
- I love the scene where Wells asks how the two of them are going to grab food for a hundred, and Finn just walks over and grabs Jasper and Monty
- This show is really, really good at moral dilemmas. I love the whole plotline on the Ark about reducing population. There’s an interesting conflict in moral values highlighted by Kane and Abby. Kane is cold and is only concerned with keeping the human race alive, and will do so at any cost. But he’s not concerned with power; he genuinely believes he’s doing the right thing, and that he’s the only one around willing to make difficult decisions to keep everyone alive. Abby also wants to keep the human race alive, but she has a more empathetic approach. She doesn’t just consider the outcome, she considers the impact each decision will have leading to the outcome. They’re the perfect example of whether or not the ends justify the means, and there isn’t a clear cut answer in the situation.
- Abby is my favorite character in S1. It’s sad how her character goes downhill from there (imo).
- Man, they made earth beautiful. I loved the glow in the dark plants and the blue butterflies. I wish we could have seen more of that throughout the show.
bellamy: saw two of my kids hugging eachother and i was like what? realised they were murphy and jasper and they were choking eachother and i was like ok that makes more sense
don’t know if this is a controversial opinion, but if Wells hadn’t been on the dropship i think clarke could’ve persuaded people (bellamy) to listen quicker
thinking about the 99 opening and how it shows mob's psychic powers circulating down to his heart (which is also the same area of the uniform pocket where he keeps the broccoli seeds in s2)
which then transitions into an explosion
which then transitions into a broccoli
...which then transitions into dimple
like i know season 1 of the anime aired while the manga was nearly finished but this is still impressive foreshadowing
