i think my favourite thing about creating mean and abhorrent characters is the kind of freedom to play around with and understand how they got to that point. not like how people will excuse it but as in psychoanalyzing these things. i love getting into their heads and knowing all their sore spots and what gets bruised when it’s just soo much fun. i love the absence of an idea of ‘good’ or ‘moral’ but the concept of cruelty hanging over the natural state of the world.

#this is kind of about gwen. shes a horrible person but i love walking through #her life and knowing what develops when. the enitre concept of her spending centuries FORMING because she's a rock and then being forced- #-to just exist forever. she is so fascinated by animals that it makes her so hateful towards them for having it so easy #she doesnt even WANT easy shes just mad they got it. she spent soo long being mad and bored with her 'family' that mimicked an animal trait #thats another of my favourite things #the idea of the gargoyles little group being a 'family'. because the gargoyles were alll formed from the same mountain/landscape so they- #-cobbled together this social structure to function because the animal societies were doing it so well and subsequently trapping themselves- #-into a constant fight for power but even bigger figh about superiority and the elders being the most important #it all builds up to this constant frustration of gwen being the youngest but the most 'popular' one in the sense that she's a public figure #so she feels so entitled to all the things everyone else has that she comes to a point of taking it by force. in the end leading up to sifa #which i should specify there WASN'T sex involved in sifas creation lol gargoyles do not have genitals they are rocks #essentially the whole reason gwen was so wrapped up in keeping josef was because he's a qursa tiefling #which means he's a wild magic TAP. hes fucking leaking that shit everywhere she felt the power from a mile away #he cannot use any of it because it would kill him probably but gwen /can/ and she spent a good while sapping his magic until eventually- #-propositioning him to 'make' sifa. wherein she would just need to cut him open to take the magic necessary to make a weird almost-clone #its fucked up either way and a violation of josefs bodily automonmy. sorry josef #and also fucked up that sifa can never feel like her own person. girl cause youre not #HUGE RANT #oc shit

Bökh: „And you never wanted to get in touch?"

The Nichtraucher picks up a piece of wood.

Silence.

Nichtraucher: „Why should I? We didn’t see each other for the past ten years either.“

He rips the piece of wood apart with his bare hands. While holding eye contact with Justus.

Silence.

Justus lowers his head.

Jo: „Uh.. weren’t you-" Martina, quietly: „Jo, leave it. Lets go.“

Martina, louder: „We need to go! We still have something to do.“

The kids leave. Jo and Martina are holding hands as they walk away.

Bökh: „Yeah… Thank you, kids.“

Jo, whispering as they walk away: "What was that just now?!"

Robert picks up the chopped wood and walks back to his wagon. Justus looks after him.

Narrator (audiobook): If the two friends will find back together? Matze isn’t so sure of that.

Matze, sarcastically: „Well, that was a great success!“ Jo: „Yeah, so much for friendship between Internals and Externs.“

Narrator (audiobook): At least Robert granted Herr Bökh access to his wagon. He looks around lost in thought more or less, while Robert washes the dishes.

Dishes clatter. There is silence otherwise.

Justus stares wistfully at Robert while he washes the dishes.

Justus takes his eyes off Robert and starts looking around while Robert continues to ignore him.

Bökh: „I thought you were living in London.“ Nichtraucher: (silence) Bökh: „It's nice here.“ Nichtraucher: (silence)

Justus starts walking around.

Bökh: „I told the kids about our friendship.“ Nichtraucher: „As a cautionary tale?“ Bökh: (chuckles/scoffs) „No. Of course not.“

Narrator (audiobook): Bökh spots the poster of „the Bandits“, the same one hanging in his apartment.

Bökh: „The 'Wild Dog' that we always played in is still there.“

Nichtraucher: (silence)

Bökh: „Should we meet there sometime? For a beer?“

Robert looks up.

He lets out a small huff, almost like an incredulous laugh or a scoff.

He dries his hands on a towel and folds it.

Nichtraucher: (silence) Nichtraucher: „I don’t know what we would have to say to each other.“

Bökh: „Hm. Well. A lot of time has passed.“

Narrator (audiobook): Robert sits down at the table and lights himself a cigarette.

Justus turns as well and starts looking around again.

Nichtraucher: „Why didn’t you come to Marie’s funeral back then?“

Nichtraucher: „You didn’t even get in touch.“

Justus is silent. He starts fiddling with his jacket and pulls it off his shoulder. He lets out a deep, shaky sigh and is silent for another few moments.

Bökh: „…I don’t know, you met her and… and suddenly you were gone.“

Bökh: „As if everything -our friendship, the band- as if that had all just been a dream.“

Justus turns around and looks at Robert.

Bökh: „Wir zwei. Wir hatten doch Pläne.“

Bökh: „That really hurt me.“ Nichtraucher: „It hurt you.“

Silence. Just the music.

Bökh: „Yes. Very much back then.“

The Nichtraucher lets out a soft incredulous laugh again, almost like a scoff.

Nichtraucher: „I see.“

Long silence. Justus stares out the window. Finally, he turns and walks to the door.

Bökh: „You know where to find me.“

Justus leaves the wagon. Robert nods to himself silently.

Narrator (audiobook): And with these words, Herr Bökh leaves his friend’s train wagon. If the two will ever see each other again?

#in reality ive followed her lines for many years and had that as an opportunity from the start #because i believe they are good. their health is well documented and they have good temperaments. #standard wise they're also decent - though her breeder does sacrifice looks for health results at times #her sire is a UK import and her dam is Swedish out of a very accomplished male #(that is also sire to both another dog here on tumblr and another of my all time favourite shelties - but that's another story) #here's the bottom line: in the 14 years i've kept tabs on this breed I've developed some Thoughts about what is and isn't important #where the breed is going and where i want it to go #ive also come to realise that the things i want to see in the breed won't happen unless someone actually does it #and the things i want to see in a sheltie - believe it or not - troja has a lot of those things #shes a healthy and social dog with good reaction patterns and although shes long in back and lacks rib #she has GOOD angulation and a front that is HARD TO FIND these days #the faults i see in her are things that are 1) not detrimental and 2) fixable #and frankly #shes the first dog thats passed through this family where #if her puppies turned out exactly like her - i'd be okay with that. okay shelties. I thiiink I processed a bit of my thoughts bout OFF but like, my mind was blown so there isn't much in it. One thing bout it though is that I really love the music in this game, like I be jamming to the battle music it sound so cool and catchy and it's actually stuck in my head. I also love the puzzles in the game, it's not too hard and it's also so nice to do! (I say that but I brute forced at least 2 puzzles. The puzzles right before Zone 1 and Zone 2's bosses... Trial and error even though the key to the puzzle was Right in the area but lazy in I don't wanna go back to look).

Also I love how, even if the game doesn't seem like much, it was hella enjoyable for me, must be cuz of the music. Like, I'd walk around so much finding a bunch of stuff and then battles happen with some banger music and it honestly felt like I just played that game for like a hour even though it was way more than that. Like, I really really enjoyed it.

For the story of the game... I have no idea what story is supposed to be there. But throughout it, whenever the Batter purifies a zone I start doubting if it's the right thing cuz everything looks so... lifeless... Like yeah sure, the spectres are also pretty bad and killing the poor Elsens, also doesn't help how Dedan makes the poor guys so stressed too but I was thinking if there was at least another way than just purifying everything but I'm stuck with the Batter. By the end the Judge saying that I'm the puppeteer but honestly I felt like more of the puppet for some reason.

I'm stuck with the Batter my guy, I won't proceed at all unless I do things that aligns with the Batter's mission. And in either endings, it's all bad in a way that, what's done is done. Choosing the Judge doesn't reverse anything, the world is completely lifeless and "purified," so in the end it's better to just keep being with the Batter and finish what we started. Which is pretty cool cuz I kept wondering Why was the game called OFF and then seeing the Batter ending and I'm like: OOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH (it was the first thing that blew my mind).

Like, I feel like this game's story got A Lot of stuff for me to know (Time to read through what everyone's theories are. I'm not really good with those so I always enjoy reading everyone else's). Like, the thing that I kiiinda get is that there's a lonely child who doesn't like his dad and prefers his mom but the mom doesn't even visit him much. He made 3 friends which he turned into guardians of the zones, and a mom regarded as the Queen. And then there's Batter which I feel like was based off of Boxxer in that comic that the kid was given to by his dad. And like, gestures vaguely, yeah, it's neat :D (my train of thought broke I don't remember what I was going with that).
