The friendship between Shun and Dan is one of my favourite things about Bakugan series.

No shade to people who ship them romantically, but I personally see them as platonic soulmates.

I thing it's partly because I see a lot of me and my bestie in them(minus the cool alien battles). You have two childhood besties who remained friends for years, even when Shun was depressed after his mothers death. Yeah, Dan at first appeared to be annoyed by Shun disappearing from their lives, but I know that he was worried, and maybe a little angry? Angry that Shun decided to isolate himself instead of coming to him in his difficult time? Like, Dan was with him in the hospital when Shiori died, he saw firsthand how broken Shun was back then. He wanted Shun to come to him and talk to him about his pain, but Shun just closed off( understandable of course).

And then you have Mechtanium Surge, and the script is now flipped. Now, it is Dan pushing Shun (and Marucho) away, when something bad is going on in his life. And unlike how the dubbed version portrayed Shun as annoyed at Dan, the original has Shun worried and nostalgic, especially after Dan leaves them. When Shun leaves the park after Dan fails to show up, he says "were we really even friends?".

Shun is sad because instead of coming to him for help and support, Dan decided to face his difficulties on his own, like he did years before.

My personal headcannon is, that once the two started their own families, their kids also became besties, and their fathers just watch them play with eachother, reminiscing about their own past.

Was in a Bakugan mood and sketched out my favorite forms of Dragonoid from across the three generations. Mechtanium Surge was a personal favorite, along with New Vestroia, but Maxus Dragonoid will be for another day methinks. I’m really enjoying G3 Drago atm, I like how he’s a bit more dorky outside of battle, and surprisingly camera shy and has more of a fish out of water vibe. This isn’t a “he’s just like me!” thing, I just enjoy how Drago is a strong leader, but he isn’t completely unflappable and rigid as he tends to be, and has quirks that make him even more fun to watch.

Honestly, after watching the original dubbing with eng subtitles I'm pissed. They took away so much depth from characters, made many plots simply about Dan being a dick, and just overall messed everything up. Justice for original dubbing!!!!!

P.s. also, they deleted so many cool scenes and moments, I'm livid

General opinion: I feel similar to him the way I feel ab fabia,,, held back by the writing. I always felt like he’s just like the typical good knight character who they don’t really delve more into as a person, other than the backstory/moments of him and Neo. Both him and Fabia are characters I’ve had to force myself to see more into bc upon first and second viewing I just really did not care much for them. I’d say I have a bit more appreciation for them now tho

Rafe:
