Hey guys, my sister had an accident a couple of days ago. She got pinned to a wall by a car. It was totally an accident. My sister and her boyfriend were doing some car-related stuff. She’s in a whole world of pain at the moment. Everyone’s still REALLY shaken, especially with how close we came to losing her (Seriously, if my dad hadn’t been quick-thinking and quick on his feet...). She blacked out and and everything. Thankfully she doesn’t have any broken bones, just a whole lot of bruising, excruciating pain, and nausea.

I’m so glad the Hobbit/LOTR fandom here on Tumblr is as good as it is, because the fandom that’s on Facebook is PAINFULLY immature and stupid. Facebook’s lotr fanpages in particular seem to be majority filled with emotionally and mentally stunted toddlers in adult bodies who can’t handle the fact that movies and books are not the same, that Peter Jackson & et al are better movie makers than they are or could ever hope to be, and don’t seem to understand that the changes made from books to movies are required because some things just. don’t. work. They also don’t seem to realise the fact that Jackson et al had outside constraints holding them back, such as the time and budget constraints, and the fact they could only include so much from the books because of legal reasons. They also make it abundantly clear they despise females when they can’t handle the fact that Tauriel exists and can kick butt. Like, sorry you can’t handle the fact that female elves exist and that elven societies don’t follow your stupid misogynistic ideas. Jackson, et al gave perfectly logical reasonings in the behind-the-scenes for her being there. And yeah, I get it, her storyline could definitely have been better, but sheesh. And Tauriel’s the reason -the only reason- I even bothered with watching the second movie (too much of a sausage-fest). so, yeah.

Hey everyone. I’ve recently started as a freelance proofreader on fiverr.com. I tried to insert a link to my account so people could see it for themselves, but fiverr.com’s website didn’t like that. At all. So, if you ever need some proofreading done, just head over to fiverr.com and look up krstaples. That’s me. All the info’s all there on my account.

I’ve noticed recently that some people that write modern girl/boy/whatever in Middle-earth The Hobbit or LOTR fanfic, while trying not to make modern girl/boy/whatever a Mary-Sue/Marty-Stu, have a tendency to make them have either no knowledge of Middle-earth and the books/movies or little/shaky knowledge of them. Since the aim of the protagonist is usually to play a part (whether small or large) to save ME at whatever parts of the stories they arrive at, I’ve got to ask: Why would they make their protagonist(s) so clueless about ME? If the aim is to keep the story going as close to the books/movies as possible so bad stuff doesn’t happen why create and insert a character who is much more likely to screw things up due to their ignorance?
And another thing. Why do people think their character using some ME language, e.g. Sindarin, is going to help them, when their character usually only knows phrases that could make things awkward? Or phrases that would lead the denizens of ME to believe that they know more of the language than they do. For example, having the character greet the elf/dwarf/whatever in their language when they don’t actually know much more of the language then that. What’s the point?
I don’t know. Just some observations I’ve had.

Anyone ever REALLLLY needed to vent about stuff, but not been able to because doing so would create an absolute mess you’re not even remotely prepared to deal with? Or is it just me?

You know how a few days ago I said my sister had a court case? Yeah, let’s just say I’ve lost what little faith I had in the New South Wales legal system. I’d really like to see how the judge came to her decision, because WHAT THE ACTUAL !@#$!
