@katana-no-neko okay let me rant for a bit on Octopath Traveler lol
It is not that I totally dislike it, or else I guess I wouldn't have played for 90 hours or so...but I really like JRPGS, so maybe I just don't know when to quit lol
But there are a lot of things I didn't like about it. The story, for example: the idea of 8 characters with different stories that would meet and go on adventuring together was really promising, but I don't think it worked well. I expected them to connect with each other or at least have an influence, but no, they just would make some random commentary on each other's story that felt really hollow. Some part of the story also didn't make sense for 8 people being together lol like when they throw someone at a hole, I was like there is no way 8 people (or 4 because of the party) are in there at the same time. The story totally ignores the other characters are there. I was like, is there really a reason for those 8 people to travel together? I don't think so.
Also, not all the stories are good. Some are boring, some are good, some are awful (I'm looking at you Tressa). I think just two felt great, the others were just...there. Several times I questioned myself if the story of the game was just that, since I saw that we had some things unanswered. Some of the side quests were pretty weird too, it was hard to find them and some were like "oh you want me to beat the shit off this person? sure!" because the ability of Olberic was that lol so yeah weird solutions for some problems
The gameplay itself, I had mixed feelings. I like turn based RPGs, but I don't like random encounters. At some point, I was so tired of battling every time I needed just to go somewhere. I think I used an item or something that avoided the monsters, but I don't remember that well anymore, they don't come at the beginning of the game (or at least I didn't find a way to avoid them)
The bosses were great, I remember finding them the right amount of difficulty, they were challenging and not that easy. Even if I couldn't beat them, I could grind to level up, and after playing TriStrat, I feel it works best just making the player come up with a good strategy? It feels more rewarding than making a battle so hard you need to level up 5 levels above the recommending level.
But the battle system is great, I liked the classes, the abilities, and all.
I tried for 100% of this game and oh boy it was a mistake lol
I finished all the eight stories and needed to go after the side quests I missed, so I used a guide to find them. And I was actually surprised to find out the true ending of the game was locked behind a side quest? lol
And it felt so...out of nowhere. It was not just one side quest that needed to be done, and they didn't feel like it was important?
Anyway, when I got to the Gate of Finis part I was like "I'm sure we can leave this place if needed, right?" Wrong lol
I know the game let you know of this, but I had no idea how bad things were there. So if you regret it, there is no way you can leave to buy better equipment or grind more levels
You have to fight a harder version of all the bosses you already fought, and it was fun for me (I like boss rushes too). And finally things were connecting! But not what I was expecting to connect, so It was at least surprising.
Anyway, each battle took a long time to finish, like 30 minutes for each fight, and that felt kinda bad because I was already tired of this game lol and you couldn't save between battles or anything, so that sucks. You can't close the game, so you must play that part for hours and hours (at least I played the Switch version and you can turn off without closing the game, but still sucks if you want to play something else)
But Galdera was the worst ✨it was so ridiculous hard, it never ended, I was so tired...when I thought I had won the battle (after like 4 hours of trying) they go "oh actually that was phase 1!! Now we're going to phase 2 :)"
I had to look it up how to defeat this bitch, but even the guides said "you know maybe this is not worth it". Since I couldn't buy stuff for the characters no more, It felt so frustrating!! I was really close to the true ending but Squre Enix said haha nope it's going to be so hard for nothing yay
I know people can beat those bosses in less time, but that would require me to go and grind more and at that part I was just so tired
So these were the stuff that didn't work out for me. It's not the worst RPG I played, but sure it's not even close to what I felt like playing TriStrat. When the story of Octopath failed me, Triangle Strategy did excellently; when the battle system tired me on Octopath, in Triangle actually felt great! I don't want to compare more the two since they are pretty different lol
Now, I know Octopath Traveler 2 is a thing. I might give it a chance if they manage to fix the mistakes from the first one, but right now I feel well-fed with Triangle Strategy c:

There's a lot of posts out there reminding people that they don't have to respond to every stupid post they see but I feel like it's worth saying that you also don't have to finish reading the post once you've realized it's stupid. Easily one of my favorite things about the internet is the ability to get like two sentences into a post and go "actually I think you're wrong" and then just stop reading.

actually jeff and britta are fucking great together okay. they're both terribly emotionally immature and the definition of toxic. i hate them so much. they base their entire personality on the way others perceive them (britta wants to be seen as good person, jeff wants to be seen as cool) but when push comes to shove they always back each other up. they're both losers and fucking pathetic and they have the two most fragile egos in the whole group. they're absolutely ridiculous, they can never feel compassion or empathy in a natural way and they're actually awful fucking people. i love them so much. i need them to be together forever but in a quarantine sort of situation

Susan foreman is such a weird character to me. She's technically the whole reason the plot of the entire series kick off, but dosent have much impact on the plot beyond that, with her constantly playing damsel in distress and isn't allowed to do all that much by either the charcters or the writers, which sucks! Susan, in concept is such an intresting character! I do like her! It's just that the writers did so little with her at the time when she could of been so much more.

you ever just have a lot, a LOT of feelings all at once about a character and not even remotely enough words or brainpower to FORM the words to describe everything you're feeling. so it feels like you may explode. yeah

Okay, so I haven't watched all of FMAB yet, but I love how Ed is so fucking oblivious. He got a gorgeous girl, way smarter than him and out of everybody's league, who plays with the cord of the telephone when they speak together because she's down bad and laughs softly when he talks. And he's like "yeah, yeah, well, I am glad you're alive haha I thought they were going to brutally fucking murder you today. So that's a relief. Bye, super best friend in the world" and hangs up like the moron he is. But not only that, because well, they can't see each other so I get he doesn't notice the crush in Winry's voice, BUT LING?????? Dude has been with that prince inside a guy's stomach and has carried him around and cooked him his boot and yelled at him for giving up because he can't leave somebody as ambitious as him there without accomplishing what he wants, and then he says some gay bullshit like "Ling is still in there" after looking at Greed's eyes ONCE. One thing is not realizing a girl is crushing on you but Oh my God Edward for fuck's sake get a clue and realize you like men-

the gorgug-porter conversation is interesting to me because like. yea for the overwhelming majority of the conversation porter’s being shitty & trying to fit gorgug into a box that gorgug just does not fit into by trying to make gorgug’s relationship with his rage more focused on the aggression aspect of it. but then there’s also this specific thing that brennan brought up again in the ap, which is that gorgug’s relationship with his rage is wholly “this is a tool i use to protect my friends.” which isn’t a bad thing! but that’s his Whole relationship with it, & gorgug seems to place next to no value on his rage in relationship to himself. which is problematic, because it’s first & foremost his rage.
being raised in a household with a sort of toxic positivity largely meant that, whether or not it was his parents’ intention, gorgug internalized the message that more traditionally “negative” emotions such as anger are the wrong response to something. part of the reason he prioritizes his artificing is probably because it’s “fixing” things. in comparison to being a barbarian, which gorgug associates with “breaking” things. good vs. bad behavior, in his eyes.
it’s a totally unacceptable bar to measure a 16 y/o by, but i do think part of porter’s reasoning for not letting gorgug multiclass is him recognizing that gorgug generally does not value anger as a valid emotional response to something, at the very least for himself. & that directly conflicts with what being a barbarian is, because whether you like it or not, that rage is what fuels you. but again, barring a kid from pursuing something they deeply care about in part (not entirely, porter has a lot of more bullshit reasons) because of their fundamental values & world outlook is crazy.
so yes, 98% of porter’s reasoning is pretty shitty, immature, rife with a toxic view that there’s only one proper way to access rage, & generally not a good thing to do as a teacher, but also within that reasoning is the 2% of ‘there is a fundamental part of yourself that you only value if you can use it to take care of other people & you need to accept that as something that can take care of you, too.’ but that’s something to discuss with a therapist or a guidance counselor, not something that should hugely impact gorgug’s academic future.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the most chill person in this fandom when it comes to ships and characters. Like I can find reasons as to why each ship would work and wouldn't.
Pandalily? Academic rivals FOR SURE.
Jegulus? HELLO??? Bestfriends brother? Grumpy x Sunshine?
Partyvan? Peter deserves ALL that love.
Marylene? Not friends, not lovers, but something. It's so heartbreakingly cute.
I can even find stuff for ships I don't even ship.
Jeverus? After he saves his life? Hell yeah!
Dramoine? ENEMIES TO LOVERS! REDEMPTION ARCS!
Prongsfoot? Best friends to lover? Sure, man, go for it!
Regulus x Sirius?.......... You... You do you bro???
Snily? That "always" line was cute, I gotta admit.
I genuinely won't judge like if you ship them - if you see them working out; GO. FOR. IT. THEYRE FICTIONAL!! Have your own opinions, it's okay!
AND THE CHARACTERS!!!
Yes, they all have their flaws. Yes, James bullied Severus. Yes, James repeatedly asked Lily even though she'd already turned her down. Yes, he changed!!
Yes, Severus called the love of his life a slur. Yes, he bullied children. Yes he cared for Harry to some extent! Even if it's only as a tribute to Lily, that's better than nothing.
Yes, Dumblewh*re raise Harry for slaughter.... That's it... I have nothing more to add for him.... Bitch.
Yes, Regulus is a death eater. Yes, Regulus was obsessed with the dark lord since childhood. Yes, he stole the horcrux!!
Sorry for the rant but like I'm seeing so much hate for so many characters and ships and I don't understand it. There's as much to love as there is to hate. It wouldn't be fair if they were perfect flawless characters. They're designed to be insufferable and loving and idiotic and a little crazy.

I'm.. surprised.
I just saw people calling "tourist" a person who is actually an enciclopedia of Warhammer.
I bet my ass they have read max 2 short stories in all their life yet the bro who read literally everything is a tourist now. This just because they had a neutral (maybe even good) opinion on the female custodes.
Do.. do these people have mirrors? Don't they see how big their red nose is when looking at their own reflection?
Don't these people know that opinions exist? You don't agree with them? Ok fine, but attacking them at random spitting lies seems a bit too much, especially when it comes from someone who has never read a book.

A (mainly) humorous “Arthur Returns” story.
↳ READ ON AO3: ALL DOWNHILL FROM HERE 📖
Excerpt:
The day it happens, Lesley shakes Merlin awake while wearing a tinfoil hat.
At first Merlin thinks he must be dreaming, and almost laughs at the lack of subtlety of his own subconscious. Then Lesley shakes him harder, and he thinks, Oh. It’s happened. She’s finally lost her last marble and decided to telegraph her insanity to the world. Which is very considerate of her, for a change.
“Merlin,” Lesley says again.
Merlin blinks up at her. “What on earth are you wearing?”
“What?” Lesley says, confused.
Merlin points to his own head, and Lesley touches her hair.
“Oh. I was dying my hair,” Lesley says, then shakes her head. The tin foil crackles. “Forget that! You need to see this.”
She shoves her phone in Merlin’s face and touches the screen. A video starts playing. It’s entirely too early for this.
“What–?” Merlin starts, but Lesley shushes him aggressively.
“Listen!”
Merlin does.
“–saw him rolling down the hill,” a bespeckled old woman is saying into the mic the journalist is pointing at her face. “He was wearing some kind of armour–”
“Chain mail,” the spotty boy standing next to her readily supplies.
“Yes,” the woman goes on. “And a sword.”
“I thought he was a cosplayer,” the boy says.
With a shaky hand, Merlin takes Lesley’s phone.
“And you went to check on him?” the journalist asks.
“Yes,” the old woman says. “We thought he might be injured, you know. But he started shouting at us.”
“What did he shout?”
“That's the thing, we have no idea. It wasn't English.”
“And did the man try to attack you?”
“No,” the woman says. “He ran away.”
“Shit,” Merlin says.
