15. What are some of your favorite tropes to write?

Oooo I have quite a few! I do love idiots in love/comedic misunderstandings, emotional hurt/comfort, and accidental confessions, to name a few!

22. Pick out a random line from a fic you're really proud of

Ooooo I love this line from A willing nightmare, a gilded cage:

“You missed me,” he says, and as the words make their way through his lungs, he knows them to be true. It tilts his entire world sideways, the axis of all his truths moved slightly to the left as he considers everything about the conversation that’s passed between them. Dream missed him. Dream wanted him to come home. Dream wants him, even now, because the Corinthian still is, after all this time, his favorite.

3. What’s your favorite fic that you’ve ever written?

This is such a tough one. You’d think it would be easier, because I’m so hard on myself about my writing, but there are so many that I have a soft spot for.

Honorable mention has to go out to the To Be Human series and the Foundations series. Which I adore 🥹

BUT— the top spot has always been Gaining Heart. Closely followed now, by my most recent story. Keep You Safe’s later chapters still give me a lot of second thoughts, but I’m still so, so proud of it. It feels good to write again, and to feel certain that I’m going to finish something.

6. Are there any fics from others that you reread all the time?

GIRL(gnc) YES. Like, so so many. I really need to make an ultimate rec list across all my fandoms. In the meantime, these are some of my most recently read (and reread) faves

8. What projects are you currently working on?

I’m figuring out how I want the epilogue/last chapter of Keep You Safe to go! There’s two alternatives that I’ve started.

I’m also outlining a few companion pieces for this most recent fic— one where Jan Van Eck tries to stop his son from testifying in his trial, and another where we finally find an antidote to the parem for our darling Jesper.

I also have a stack of WIPs a mile high, and I have not forgotten about them ❤️ but the hyperfixation wants what it wants.

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve ever written in a fic?

I don’t know about ever, but I loved this little tiny description in chapter 4, between Jesper and his da:

He squeezed the back of his neck like a kitten, and it had an embarrassingly similar effect, leaving Jesper melting into his side.

19. Give us a small teaser from one of your WIPs

Small?? Have you met me??? (I don’t know where this is gonna go yet, but it’s one of the possible epilogue scenes. And also might end up it’s own thing. And might nottttt even end up being a thing, we’ll see!)

“—course you do,” Wylan was saying, “you all do.”

“Really? We all have songs?” Inej was sat beside him at the piano, watching the effortless melody lift through the air from under his fingers.

Nina twirled around when Matthias spun her, her skirts flaring out like flower petals. Her bare feet stumbled tipsily, sleepy and content. Her grin was wide. “What’s mine, then?”

“Romanenkova’s Polka.”

“Ravkan!” Tolya nodded, toasting Wylan from the arm of the sofa, “Excellent choice.”

“What’s all this about, then?” Jesper announced his presence, sweeping into the room with a smile. The soft skin behind his boyfriend's ear was begging to be kissed, and he stooped to greet him with a press of lips.

Flushed and warm, Wylan tipped his head back. Jesper could feel his smile rather than see it. He felt the purr in his throat as he dipped down to his pulse point, before burrowing his nose into the thick auburn curls for a minute.

Saints, he was lucky.

“Well, what’s going on besides our darling Inej sitting in my seat?”

She rolled her eyes, but smiled as she stood for him. “Your darling Wylan was just telling us that we all have songs in his head.”

Wylan shrugged as if it didn’t really matter. “There’s pieces that sound like you to me— when I see you, I think of them.”

“What’s Jesper’s then?”

Jesper could admit to a certain degree of self-centeredness— Tamar had practically taken the words right out of his mouth.

Wylan ducked his head, looking down at the black and white keys. There was a dimple in his cheek, and he turned an absolutely edible shade of pink all the way to his ears. He was so beautiful, sometimes Jesper could swear he heard music, too.

He bumped his shoulder with his own, sitting hip to hip on the piano bench.

“What’s mine?”

❌ What's a trope you will never write?

A year ago, I would've probably said "sickfic". There's a certain subtype I hate, but I can actually see me tackling it as a challenge, because writing is different than reading XD

I'm also unlikely to write bodyswap or de-aging, but never say never :')

✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?

Hmmm, does emphasizing character's animalistic/monstrous traits count? Because that's been showing up in my monster aus... and in the yashou-centric fic... I tend to focus on flashing eyes and baring fangs, especially when character's are being protective and/or possessive 🤔

🎉 What leads you to consider a fic a success?

People talking about it! Or interacting with me about them, whether that's in comments, DMs, or "in the wild". Having one of my stories recced, or someone recall it when some similar premise comes up is such a great feeling <3

9. Is there a song that you feel gets more attention than it needs?

Sorry Paul but I think Yesterday? It's a fine song but of the most popular songs that most normies know that would be my least favorite I think.

10. A song that needs more recognition?

Don't Pass Me By. I'm sure I talked about this song on here before, but even though the lyrics are not great (Ringo I can't believe you rhymed unfair and hair) but the production of that song with the fiddle and the drumming and everything is just so dang good.

6. What’s the last line you wrote?

This lil' bit of AtBI:

It's only made worse by the way Tomura is looking at you, that same way he has since yesterday. Guarded, but in a different way than when he and the League had first arrived, more weighty than avoidant.

24. How do you choose whose POV to write in?

Mmmm usually I guess I try and hone in on who's going to be having the richest experience? I like to hone in on whoever's having a stronger reaction in smut, or the most going on internally in a given scene or interaction.

Also sometimes I write reader's POV specifically because I have a defined mental image of what Tomura looks like in a given moment, and I want to paint that picture, so to speak.

49. What fic of yours would you say is the best introduction to you as a writer?

Oh man. As much as I want to say one of my later/better/more well thought-out fics, it's probably Offering. Even though it was my first fic, it had such an influence on how I came to understand Shig's character, and so much shit in my other fics--and especially my other longer fics--it's just kind of an attempt to do some of the same things but in better and different ways. So it's probably a good foundation to start with lol.

34: i actually have plenty of small annoyances lmao. My biggest pet peave is ppl humming/singing quietly to themselves. It creeps me out real bad and the only ppl ive known to actually do this r terrible, dangerous, self centered ppl. I get the heebie jeebies just thinking about them.

What is your favorite trope to write?

Some variation of Local Idiot Realizes They're In Love 🤭🤭 It can be fluff, crack, or angst, but I just love writing that Oh. Oh. moment so so much.

2. What is your least favorite trope to write?

There's not too many things I'm strictly opposed to writing these days, I've realized if it's a compelling enough idea I'll try most tropes at least once. That said, babytrapping fic, while interesting to read, is not something I don't think I'll ever care to write

Me before completing the forest temple: okay I get that ocarina of time is fun and nostalgic for people but it’s a bit of a stretch to call it one of the greatest video games of all time

Me after completing the forest temple: By revealing that Link is not a Kokiri, but a Hylian, the game effectively strips him of his humble origins amongst a group of people that already fail to recognize him in his adult form. Thus, kokiri village instantly becomes a location that is no longer Link’s home in any sense, exacerbated by the fact that the game now loads up in the temple of time instead of Link’s bedroom— he is a stranger in the only place that has ever been familiar to him and he is depressingly reduced to his destiny alone. However, the subsequent introduction of the time travel mechanic, which allows the player to travel from the horrific apocalyptic future back to the idyllic past of Link’s childhood, gives new meaning to the idea of this “destiny”. In effect, Link is not a stock “chosen one”, but a protagonist who consciously decides to fight onwards. Link’s dual existence as a child who knows the grim future and as an adult who was powerless to stop disaster gives a sort of desperation to his character, because while it brings the player relief to revisit the Castle Town that is populated by cheerful villagers instead of lurking zombies, the story can only be progressed through the acknowledgement of reality — the decision to make those seven years pass again. Therefore, both the player and Link as a character must be proactive in their heroism and make the conscious choice to struggle onwards despite the darkness that permeates—
