Alliance R&D has officially begun construction on the Prothean device. The team has dubbed it: "Project Crucible". We're throwing everybody who knows how to throw a hammer at it. This is gonna be the most ambitious undertaking in human history. I'm not saying it won't be a challenge- but we can do this, Shepard. You can do this. Never doubt that.
Mass Effect 3: Legendary Edition (2021)
Sorry I'm seeing this like 2 days late but don't worry kitten you're my cat too 😍👩❤️💋👩😏 i'll give you a treat later 😼k sorry that's really a bit much maybe
i love ur garashir children so dearly and i am so so grateful that peepaw war crimes died in the dominion camp. Imagine.
PEEPAW WAR CRIMES AAAAA
God could you IMAGINE
I do love the idea of 'Tain survives, has to pull a Garak and pretend to be a harmless old man even though EVERYONE knows who he is and what he's done'. Like ohhhh building a secret fleet to annihilate the dominion? Couldn't be little old me. Smiling and menacing. Wardrobe unchanged. Garak and Bashir supremely uncomfortable.
But also, Young Elim finds out who he is and promptly turns around and punches him in the crotch so hard he gets a heart attack and dies instantly
[video description: recording of hand-feeding a relief print into a small clamshell-action press. The press opens and closes on a hinge, with the relief block locked in on one side and the sheet held gently in relative position to it on the other side with three pins. as the press opens a printed sheet is pulled out of the registration pins and ink rollers pass over the printing block to distribute ink; as it closes a fresh sheet is placed in the pins and then the block comes in contact with the sheet. This impression is an illustration of a stoat skull carved in a linoleum block, printed on black paper. To get a bright color printed on black, the print is first hit with metallic copper, which is opaque on top of the black, seals the sheet against further ink absorption, and has a warm tint to combat black paper’s natural blueness. the second pass prints yellow directly on top of the copper pass, making a kind of dirty bumblebee yellow. end description.]
doing a lot on the baby treadle press this week since my big motorized one still has rollers out being re-done :( it’s fine im doing a lot of color changes this week so the fast washup is nice but. i am basically 30. my knees & hips are in need of care. good news is i live on top of a hill and have an older dog so every day as she gets slower climbing back up home i get my lunges in beside her ;aslkjdf
do you have any specific thoughts regarding todd flanders? i would love to hear them
hrmm... assuming you were inspired to send this after seeing a recent post i made, there wasn't anything that brought on that thought process other than someone having put this old post in my notes again the other day
i'm not very active with this blog anymore. if memory serves i started watching the simpsons back from the beginning in late 2019 and made this blog in early 2020, which is a long time ago already (remember, like, quarantine?). i had a strong hyperfixation on the show at the time and i used to post a LOT more, i'd post art, some of it incorporating headcanons i had for certain characters or original depictions of them, i'd post more thinkpieces whenever i'd want to psychoanalyze something for fun, and i DID used to have a lot to say about todd flanders
aside from posts i'd make like the one linked above i will never forget how heavily this particular episode really fed the fire of the idea that todd was destined for the potential to break free of his appointed one-notedness and eventually grow into this organic rebellion, i guess it got to me as something that felt so human, when someone is raised only ever being told certain things or trained to think in certain ways and as they get older they start to think for themselves and in many cases at least go through a phase where they desperately strive to adopt every ideology that contradicts those things they maybe now feel were harmful to their growth as a person, and maybe it's to spite a parent, or maybe it's to figure out who they wanna be, whatever it means to them in the moment they just HAVE to BREAK AWAY... it's a shared experience of so many people and it's sooo much fun to apply it to silly yellow cartoon child
if you've been following me since toddgate, which historically brought us such classics as the various psychoanalysis posts, emo todd, the whole tossica timeline (x, x, x, x), older bart hanging out with nelson and adoptive brother todd after rod goes away to college and they're some of the last og springfield kids still hanging around town (x, x, x, x, x) and so much more, i seriously love u and u earned that veteran discount
Back when I was teaching Japanese college students, I remember escorting some of my students back to their dorms from a burger place one of the other mentors invited them to late at night (he ditched them there and I was mad about it because they didn't know the area well).
While we were walking back, I was expressing my disappointment and saying it was inappropriate for that mentor to invite them out without walking them back since it was late at night and it wasn't a great part of the city, but after a few minutes I apologized to them saying something like "I know most of you are grown adults and I don't want you to think I see you as helpless children, but I do want to make sure you get home safely," and one of them said in the kindest most sincere voice, "We know. You are like a Japanese mother."
And I was just like *voice cracking* "Cool" and walked them the rest of the way back to their dorms, then walked to the bus with my face buried in my hands.
ECLIPSE ENTHUSIAST!!! never apologize for tag ranting, it just made my day :”)
GO ON ABOUT YOUR LORE! I AM INVESTED AND THIS IS AN INVITATION TO RAMBLE
YES!! i'm almost ashamed to admit i haven't included him in a single AU yet (i'll get to that in a minute), but i love the little guy. he's kind of the groundwork for the AUs i do have that involve the black arms.
i've always been fascinated by the juxtaposition of him and shadow being these child soldier-coded kids held to impossible standards, where shadow is the more "mature" one in whatever sense of the word, while eclipse is a lot more obviously childlike. (in the end, i wouldn't call shadow mature either. how the situation was handled in canon is a good indication of how much he has left to learn, among other things. they are both kids, just at different stages.)
it's been a while since i've read eclipse's issues, but he's always seemed driven by this kind of innocent naive hopefulness. yes, his goals are atrocious from the perspective of a human, but he's doing what he thinks is right, because that's all he knows. he was forced to grow up way too soon, but at heart he's still just a kid. he thinks he's got everything under control and is doing what's best, but it's childishly naive in a way that is so sad when you think about it. he just wants a family, but his dad sees him as a tool, and his brother doesn't want anything to do with him. and yet he still hopes and hopes and wishes because that's what kids do.
shadow learned the hard way and accepted early on that not every story has a happy ending. eclipse, even when faced with the extinction of his own species, adamantly refuses to accept it. even if shadow is at most neutral and not a pessimist, eclipse is the very definition of childlike optimism, despite the responsibilities placed on him and how seriously he takes his role.
and that's one of the things that really stands out to me; how much of a big sibling/parental drive he has. you could argue that was coded into him the same way being a caretaker was coded into shadow, but i kind of latched onto it as something that might be species-wide instead of just eclipse-specific for my AUs. i thought, maybe there's some deeply-rooted parental aspect in black doom, and that's where eclipse inevitably gets it from.
i've got this post that nicely summarizes the two iterations of the black arms i write for! along with this brainstorming one that kind of started it all, and another that touched more on black doom's potential motivations.
ultimately due to the nature of both those AUs and the role shadow did/did not play in them, i'm still trying to cook up a version where eclipse does exist, because i still want alt doom to adopt him lmao.
Gotta apologize to my Sprx fans I think after this rewatch I've become a giant Nova fan I'm almost certain she's gonna take over Sprx's spot as my favorite
Also I have a surprisingly more appreciation for Antauri and Gibson. They're just lil guys
