Thank you, Lil! Unsurprising, I have many.. across several fandoms, in varying levels of completion because I've been dealing with crap fatigue lately (grad school. ugh.)

But since this is about active ones, I shan't discuss President!CJ (someday...) or the Requiem Smuttitude (TM).

So! All Aboard the Active WIP Train! I will answer any questions, share snippets, whatever if anyone is interested.

Close to the Heart, aka my M*A*S*H noir subversion ✨ It's an AU of the 1950s where neither Hawkeye nor BJ ends up in Korea. Essentially, Peg walks into Hawkeye's office one day and asks him to kill her husband via a botched heart surgery. Only there's more to her request, and more to her husband, than meets the eye... (I have posted 7 chapters, I am partway through writing 8).

tww post-canon wedding fic A (slight) AU that diverges from Institutional Memory, where CJ decides to try and make it work with Danny while still working in the White House. They eventually amicably break up, which would be fine... except they have to see each other again at Charlie and Zoey's wedding a few months later. It alternates between CJ and Danny. I've written the prologue + one chapter, am partway through chapter two.

clandestine A M*A*S*H story I just started like. yesterday, in which BJ rescues Hawk from an unsavoury situation, and learns a few things about himself in the process.

sports night ten wickets tag This one is Blorbo Snippets from my Phone. As in, I have snippets of an episode coda for "Ten Wickets" for a Dan/Casey fic. Will I ever write it? Remains to be seen.

for the fake fic ask game! i have a bunch of ficless titles (and so many titleless fics that have not found their soulmates in said stash LOL), so here is one:

🐝 love is a loaded word

for any fandom of your choice!

i let this title rotate in my head for several days and things finally clicked. thank you so so much <3

no fandom. 2+1 things (third time's the charm!) oneshot revolving around relationships, queer romantic themes, and learning how to communicate your needs and expectations.

character A has always been drawn in to and terrified by the way love is presented all around them; the word itself, love, has always felt like so much more than just the feeling it described--an everlasting oath, a set-in-stone three-step plan for the future, a billion-things-in-one 'deal', a tightrope with expectations on all sides and turning backs underneath. it's a loaded word (ayy 🙌) so they never use it!

in the first two relationships written, their partners either 1) expect and demand them to use the word and promise them everything that's associated with it (and when they can't do it, it's an immediate 180°), or 2) treat the relationship as a 'sexual needs met, see you next time' kind of thing, no connection (leads to an unpleasant suggestion to 'extend services' to the partner's friends). in each of the relationships, character A learns of their own expectations and feelings, and how to communicate them.

finally, in their third relationship, with character B (and eventually + character C), all partners base their relationship(s) on a shared understanding and mutual agreements. they mould it to fit their experience and adjust it afterwards if it needs changes. and the fic ends with character A using the word 'love' and it not feeling like a shackle but like breathing

Eee thank you so much! <3 I do enjoy waffling in the tags of posts. Sometimes it's just useful things for me when I attempt to find something I know I reblogged, and sometimes it's nice to just sorta whisper my random opinions and experiences into the void in a quiet way. (Also, 'you've got quite a fascinating mind' is definitely the nicest way anyone has said 'girl you are weird and kinda crazy'! 😁

Gonna do a cut because this got way too long, oops:

I do love bears, for a couple reasons I think. They were my favorite animal as a very young child, probably because of teddy bears. There's a photo of me, it might have been my first birthday, in my crib holding a bear I called Big Brownie over me, and my 'comfort blanket' as a toddler was a Winnie the Pooh I called Brother John (because my dad in particular would sing 'Are you sleeping, Brother John' to me to get me back to sleep when I'd wake up in the night.) I took him everywhere with me and literally loved him to death a la the Velveteen Rabbit - when my mom couldn't sew him anymore she used band-aids, and when that got too ick he disappeared one night. They got me another Winnie, but it wasn't the same. (Sidenote, I have always been Like That about teddy bears and plush toys and The Velveteen Rabbit broke my heart and I'll never be normal about it. Ask me about seeing Toy Story with my sister sometime...😅)

My parents used to record my sister and I on cassette tape sometimes too. In the oldest one, my sister (still a chatterbox) was going a mile a minute but I was too shy to talk. The only thing they could eventually coax out of me was 'I 'uv beaws' (I love bears). I have no memory of this, but I like that it's my first recorded words!

After that I went through the inevitable monkey period (kids love monkeys), then went dinosaur-mad, then landed on snakes and dragons, but bears were always still there. I'd chase my sister around the house pretending to be a 'mad bear' sometimes when we were being silly. When I was on my study abroad summer in Paris I took a 'what is your sexual animal' quiz in my roommate's Marie-Claire one afternoon while bored and the result was she-bear (this basically translated to 'asexual'.)

When World of Warcraft came out and I picked a druid as my main character, I found I liked tanking best, which happens while shapeshifted into a bear. I found the teddy my avatar is based on at Woolworth's one day and took her home just because she sat like a real bear on all fours and she became my tanking buddy, and that kicked my love for bears off again in earnest. I definitely relate to them as a kind of 'representative animal' or mascot because they tend to be solitary (introvert), they are fiercely protective of their loved ones (yep), they sleep half the year and binge-eat the other half (depression, yooooo), and while they are large and dangerous and so I like to think of them when I need to be and feel strong (like when I'm tanking), they are also teddy bears, which are harmless and soft and whose whole purpose is to be comforting and bring a little passive kindness (which I like to be and also for all of my rage I too am generally harmless and a wimp.)

And lastly, when I found my first grey hairs in my mid-30s, much earlier than expected (mom and grandmother did not go grey until well into their 70s), the only thing that made me not-insane about it was to think of it as my grizzle. Which brings me to the last part, which is that I love pretty much all bears but I think brown bears/grizzly bears are my favorites, because they are just...so Very Bear, a lot of my teddies are brown or blonde, and because they live in both North America and in Europe, just like me as an immigrant.

More questions about Mago (formerly Vanth :D)!

Is he the type of person to sacrifice himself or risk potentially heavy injury for someone (or many someones? Like a group of people he might not even personally know)? If yes, does he have a person (or several) like this?

Where does he actually stand on the game's morality scale? Is he iconoclast? Dogmatic? Mix of every one? How strong is his faith in the God-Emperor? :)

It's hard to say, because he's always been reckless with his own safety. He's also (at least during the events of the game) more or less always afraid, which impairs his ability to assess personal risk, because after a certain point fear stops being useful/reliable data.

So for Mago, the line between self-sacrificing and self-destructiveness is so blurry it's almost non-existent. But in terms of whether or not he would put himself at risk for someone else, the answer is: it depends. Is it someone he cares about or someone he feels responsible for? Then yes, in a heartbeat. Is it someone he is projecting onto? Then probably also yes XD. Total rando? Highly context dependent (ie. is it profitable? would it annoy the imperium or someone else he doesn't like? would it be funny? and more recently -- how deeply disappointed in him will abelard be if he pulls another dumbass stunt? XD)

Come to think of it, he may actually have succeeded in getting himself killed at least one. At least if i was understanding Tervantius correctly. When threatening to blow a hole in his own head (under the incorrect assumption that this would deprive Tervantius of a specimen) failed to convince the haemunculus to release Heinrix, Mago turned the gun on Tervantius, who just like, immediately one-shot him and then reanimated him.

On the game's morality scale, he's overall iconoclast (with a few dips into dogmatic and heretic when needed -- or when he just really wants to ruin Tervantius' day XD). And re: the God-Emperor -- I think between growing up in the lower hive and his subsequent criminal careers, Mago has lived his whole like more or less outside of the light of the emperor. He engages with the religion where it has practical applications (purity or warding seals, navigation, etc) or social applications, but i wouldn't call it faith.

👁️ EYE - what colour are their eyes? do people notice their eyes? is there anything special about them (shows emotion easily, literally magical...)?

Rae's eyes are a very vibrant violet. His eyes were supposed to be a hazel green, but due to being experimented on, his eyes were affected.

His day vision is normal, but his night vision is excellent due to the experimental enhancements done on him. He has control over how much detail he needs to see at night, kinda like controlling low or high contrast on a black and white image.

It's hard not to notice Rae's eyes, as it's probably his most define feature about him.

❤️ RED HEART - their love language(s)?

Rae's love language is a bit complicated. He's got "cooldowns" on his bonding time. When he bonds with a partner, he goes all out in his care and tenderness for said partner. One of his most notable love languages is listening to his partner when they talk about something they're passionate about. He encourages his partner to be their best. He's open to cuddling if that's what his partner likes, or even just sitting in the same space in silence, enjoying each others' company. He understands and respect his partner's boundaries.

However, after about 1-3 months, something just ticks and he becomes emotionally unavailable/closed off, leaving his partner(s) wondering what went wrong.

It's hard to keep a relationship with him, and he doesn't feel bad or regretful from breaking it off suddenly. Basically, he sincerely enjoyed his time with his partner, but the fire's gone and he's on a cooldown until it reignites (which could vary in time depending how deeply involved he was in the relationship).

If he ever gets a partner who catches on and doesn't mind the wait time on his bonding reset, it could work out. But as of current, he hasn't had anyone stick around/keep up with him yet.

Though his parents disowned him when he was attending boarding school in San Myshuno, he was actually born and raised in Willow Creek.

I actually made his parents and placed them in world (just in case) and they ended up having many other children! So, Gideon actually has siblings he not only has never met but doesn't even know they exist! **

Continuing off the last one, he has no interest in reconnecting with his parents whatsoever. He loves his life the way it is and doesn't feel like he is missing out without them.

Between work and spending time with his family, Gideon is usually kept busy. But if he finds a minute of free time, you can usually find him playing video games, watching movies and reading up on his research and debate skill!

His traits in game are Family-Oriented, Romantic, Ambitious, Arrogant (I think I may have changed it to Self-Assured though?), and Goofball!
