So, everyone has pointed out how funny it is that fifteen claimed to have gone through therapy and be fine now only to immediately act just like his old traumatised self and it is but like…
Has anyone considered fifteen was lying?
What if he hasn’t actually experienced that domestic bliss that fourteen got to enjoy or have fourteens memories following their split at all? What if he just told fourteen he did to convince him to stay on earth and be happy so fourteen could have a chance at happiness that fifteen believes he will never have and doesn’t deserve and his seemingly incredibly upbeat personality is just a facade?
I mean this sounds incredibly in character for the doctor to me tbh

In honour of his birthday, I'm going to rant about some of my favourite roles of the global treasure (yes, I'm promoting him from the ‘national’ status), David Tennant. Feel free to add your own.💙
Tumblr media
Fourteen Doctor: This might seem like an odd choice to start with when there are popular choices like the Tenth Doctor and Crowley, but this character holds a very special place in my heart. I've been a fan of DT for about 6 years now and it started with Doctor Who. I love Ten but Fourteen is just more dear to me. Mostly because he made me excited again for one of my favourite TV shows. As a character, he has all the trademark qualities of the Doctor - the genius level intellect, endless compassion, and love for new adventures. But he is somehow more mature and softer, and I loved this development. Also, that blue coat and that (1) button - you know what I'm talking about.
Phileas Fogg: Such an underrated TV show. The chemistry of the trio, the adventures, the title sequence music - there's so much to love about this. And Fogg is such a real character. So far from perfect, this man will often appear as aloof, vain, self-absorbed and even a coward. But I think Phileas is one of the best roles ever played by Tennant. Yes, he's flawed but he's also intelligent, so incredibly kind, and yes, even brave. If you haven't watched this show, I highly recommend it.
Alec Hardy: So different from most other charming roles of DT, Hardy is a sad wet cat. He's grumpy, not nice, and just really tired of the world (who can't relate though?). His reluctant friendship with Ellie is one of the best parts of the grim show. And the fanfic lover in me can't stop screaming about how whumpable he is.
Crowley: I was going for the top three kind of ranking but the thin dark duke slithered his way over. And how can you not love Anthony J. Crowley? From this pure delightful joy while creating stars and nebulae (I can't get over David's face and the happy noises he makes in this scene) to his reluctant and vast love for his Angel and the earth, Crowley is very easy to fall in love with (take notes, Aziraphale. I know you love him but please use your words. Crowley, at least, tried).
I wanted to add more characters, especially the Shakespearean ones (I love Hamlet, but Benedick has my heart), but the list won't simply ever end then. So, I'm just going to say name all the ones I love and end it here - Simon Yates (There She Goes), Dave Tyler (Single Father), Campbell Bain (Takin' over the Asylum), Harry Watling aka The Sexy Vicar (Inside Man, this show was so freaking stressful but I loved David's character), every single Shakespearean character he ever played (even the ones I haven't or probably won't ever get the chance to see - cries in Macbeth), and, of course, Scrooge McDuck (DuckTales).
So, thank you DT for gifting the world with some of the best, most adorable, wholesome, gender-enviable characters to ever exist. (Except for the creeps, freaks, and ruthless murderers, which we kind of love as well). Happy Birthday! 💙

me after watching a show with a trans person who's not being tokenized or pristinely high-femme, a tender and chaotic lesbian romance, where the brooding x soft + charming not-boyfriends everybody's favorite ship love is canonized on screen, and i finally get to see david tenant kiss a boy on screen: i love tv

Find it very weird when ppl say even as a joke that Elizabeth started liking Darcy bc of his great house bc like it's not the case. Like obviously yes she was quite impressed and taken with Pemberley (who wouldn’t be honestly) but also we can see she's not a materialistic person. If she was I don't think she'd have ever rejected his proposal in the first place. Like if she really was attracted to more materialistic things I feel like she'd have actually been more receptive to Darcy considering how obvious it was that he noticed her. Ya know?

Marzi how do you not die of frustration dealing with the most self important people on the planet flocking to your posts
In this case? By being secure in the knowledge that I'm right.
Also, you know, I'm dealing with my new landlady being passive-aggressive about furniture she offered to move out of the room I'm renting, due to the whole "nobody told me it was rented furnished until three days ago and I already bought furniture from FB marketplace" situation.

the hard part about this round of apartment hunting and moving places isn't the actual apartment hunting and moving places.
it's how none of my conditions like any of what's going on whatsoever.
(wish me luck)

catching up on wildfell weekly and i think my feelings on the assault remain...complicated
to be fair it does seem lawrence is deliberately provoking gilbert to some extent:
I gave the briefest possible answers to his queries and observations, and fell back. He fell back too, and asked if my horse was lame. I replied with a look, at which he placidly smiled.
equally gilbert does seem to be waiting for an excuse to give vent to his anger:
waiting for some more tangible cause of offence, before I opened the floodgates of my soul and poured out the dammed-up fury that was foaming and swelling within.
and i think that part of the reason this scene is disturbing to a lot of people (including me) is because of the extremity of lawrence’s reaction to being hit:
He said no more; for, impelled by some fiend at my elbow, I had seized my whip by the small end, and—swift and sudden as a flash of lightning—brought the other down upon his head. It was not without a feeling of savage satisfaction that I beheld the instant, deadly pallor that overspread his face, and the few red drops that trickled down his forehead, while he reeled a moment in his saddle, and then fell backward to the ground. The pony, surprised to be so strangely relieved of its burden, started and capered, and kicked a little, and then made use of its freedom to go and crop the grass of the hedge-bank: while its master lay as still and silent as a corpse. Had I killed him? An icy hand seemed to grasp my heart and check its pulsation, as I bent over him, gazing with breathless intensity upon the ghastly, upturned face. But no; he moved his eyelids and uttered a slight groan.
like yeah he probably should’ve known better than to keep chatting to a guy who was obviously pissed off at him (especially since according to gilbert he usually picks up VERY easily on coldness) but he also probably wasn’t expecting such a violent blow (nor, i suspect, are most people reading this book for the first time!). and i know that gilbert believes he’s defending helen’s honour but he still hasn’t like...had a conversation with her about it all even though she said she would explain things, so i find it very hard to sympathise with him once he reaches this point because it seems like he’s making decisions about and for helen without consulting her. like i’m sorry but maybe find more healthy outlets for your anger than assaulting someone my dude, even if you think he deserves it. stevie davies notes:
the preposterous violence characterising Markham’s behaviour and language to his imagined rival is analogous to the violence staple to Wuthering Heights, and the source of the objection taken by reviewers to Wildfell Hall's narrator as one who ‘would serve as the ruffian of any other novelist’ (E. P. Whipple, ‘Novels of the Season’, American Review 66, October 1848, in CH, p. 262), to whose ‘brutal temper’ Charles Kingsley objected (‘Recent Novels’, Fraser’s Magazine 39, April 1849, in CH, p. 272).
at least he brings lawrence’s pony back for him…?
i would like to point out though that there’s a reasonable level of distance in how gilbert describes himself here:
With execrations not loud but deep I left him to live or die as he could, well satisfied that I had done my duty in attempting to save him—but forgetting how I had erred in bringing him into such a condition, and how insultingly my after-services had been offered
i doubt the gilbert of middle age would behave in such a way, which i think is one of the benefits of the epistolary format as it’s used in this novel: it’s a sort of assurance that he’s improved from this really quite brutal moment

I know I've possibly posted far too much about good omens s2 already and I offer my apologies but I need to yell something after unashamedly watching the entire thing for the fifth time;
deep inhale you lovely sillies you sad poor schmucks you FOOLS (Crowley and Aziraphale) STAND THE MCFUCK UP AND DO THE FORSAKEN APOLOGY DANCE, BOTH OF YOU.
SLOWLY APOLOGY DANCE INTO THE NIGHT WITH YOUR ARMS WRAPPED AROUND EACH OTHER SWAYING TO ROMANTIC MUSIC SOFTLY PLAYING IN THE BACKROUND STARING DEEP INTO EACH OTHERS EYES AS IT STARTS TO RAIN AND YOU SAUNTER UNDER AN AWNING AND CONTINUE THAT DAMN APOLOGY DANCE AS NIGHTINGALES SING ETHERALLY TO OPEN AIR AND YOUR EARS ALONE.
DO IT

"whatever you did the other night, undo it." anais stands before gale's tent quite early this morning, arms crossed and with a firm frown on her face. it's an expression that's not so very different from her usual, save for the slight furrow in her brow. something has her concerned. "you showed me the weave, now un-show it to me."

There’s nothing wrong with boxes. They’re just containers used to describe someone’s experience in a handful of words and we’re all a bunch of cats.
The only problem comes in is when you try to force someone into a box or when you remove all the boxes.
If a person doesn’t want to sit in a box then don’t make them! they’re either going to tear up the box and leave or they’re going to suffocate and die in that box because you decided to seal them in there.
If a person finds comfort and safety in a box then don’t take it away from them! They’re just going to get anxious and cry. You can say “there’s a bigger box over there!” all you want but that doesn’t take away from the fact that they wanted that box, even if it’s a bit too small.
but like, don’t remove any boxes from the area either. Some people are indecisive and want the ability to move from box to box while they decide on what they find most comfortable. They may even move back to the box they were born in!
And if someone doesn’t want to be in a box at all then just leave them be! That’s their prerogative and we can’t do anything about it.
Just let people have their boxes man.
