When you were part of tech crew for a production of Newsies but now it has been over for weeks and your friend (who was in the cast) is giving you a look when you tell her about how you just saw Mike Faist in a recent trailer and you listened to Hazbin Hotel just to hear Jeremy Jordan...
Moving on, going to rewatch Livesies tonight

Now because i am so generous, and because last night i had to deal with a horrible audience, i am going to teach you some of the semi-unspoken rules of theater.
As the Amazing Karnak said, "the armrest to your left is yours. The armrest to your right is your neighbor's. If you believe that both armrests are yours exclusively, you are part of the problem."
If the song is playing, you shut the fuck up. Whooping and clapping and whistling during a song is not only disruptive to the people around you, who can no longer hear the cast and have to deal with you shouting their ears off. It is also disruptive to the cast and the tech crew, who can no longer focus on their performance. I missed two color light cues today. Take a guess why.
Laughing is fine if the actors made a joke that was supposed to funny. If they are just talking or did something badass, YOU DON'T WHOOP OR CLAP. ITS DISRUPTIVE AND INCREDIBLY RUDE.
Just because someone else did something doesn't mean you can do that thing.
For the love of god. Don't touch the actors. Unless they are ok with it and its a part of the performance.
When they say "please silence your cell phones" that's not a question. Airplane mode, do not disturb, or even better, completely off.
If someone in your row needs to get out, you stand up so that you seat flips back and lean back into the seat. The only reason you should remain sitting is if you are in a theater with seats that are in a set position.
I warn you if you do not follow these rules, multiple people are going to want to strangle you.

Is it really a stage production if you don’t have a bucket of mysterious black liquid backstage that smells awful and occasionally collects drips from the ceiling

A professional techie came and helped us organize through all our tech stuff!
So turns out our lighting board is older then I thought, his estimate was around 35 years old :| and the issue with our lights not turning off properly was because SOMEONE (our past director) thought it was a great idea to plug an audio cable into a lighting board. So we're going to have to get that fixed...
We also sorted through a bunch of old cables and lights in our tech room, that also had props, paint and costumes in there for some reason. (We moved them back to their respective areas)
The good news is that we now have a lot of stuff to go to the electronic recycling!!! (there were a couple cables that were actually hazardous to use, immediately went in the throw away pile)
We are working on compiling a list of everything in that room, so if we need something specific we know what drawer/cupboard it is in. Once we organize it more I can take pictures but I do not want to show you what it looked like beforehand, I would be so embarrassed...
Anyway my feet hurt a lot from all the walking back and forth, I'm going to go lie down for a while.

Mitaka is loving all the online attention his music is getting him. He said he's already planning to produce a full stage musical with all the construction-based the songs he's written. He said there are so many musicals about singers and actors, but his musical will be all about. . . The TECH CREW.
Sure. Why not. I told him to call me if he needs help building the set. I'm happy to support his dreams.
He was like, "No need! The first half of the show will be about constructing the set. The actors will actually be building the set during the performance until they tighten the final screw during the song 'Lefty Loosey, Righty Tighty' at the end of Act I!"
Okay. Sounds magnificent. I told him I suppose I could show up to help strike the set after the show, then.
"OMG," he said, "Guess what's going to happen by the end of Act II. . ."
. . .
So, Mitaka's going to produce a show with performers who build their own stuff and clean up after themselves when they're done.
Top notch idea. 11/10. I'm gonna buy 50 tickets.
