Reading a book about slavery in the middle-ages, and as the author sorts through different source materials from different eras, I am starting to understand why so many completely fantastical accounts of "faraway lands" went without as much as a shrug. The world is such a weird place that you can either refuse to believe any of it or just go "yeah that might as well happen" and carry on with your day.

There was this 10th century arab traveller who wrote into an account that the fine trade furs come from a land where the night only lasts one hour in the summer and the sun doesn't rise at all in the winter, people use dogs to travel, and where children have white hair. I don't think I'd believe something like that either if I didn't live here.

So I've been hanging out with this really cool trans guy a grade older than me and he's on T and has been for a while and I'm really happy for him because he passes like really really well but whenever I hang out with him I honestly get really dysphoric which sucks because he's literally so nice and funny and everyone in our friend group agrees he has the best hugs but I am so fucking jealous. I want that. His life obviously isn't perfect but seeing him actually living and being himself when he's not even a year older than me makes me want to cry. I want that.

The last show was yesterday night and here are all of the things that happened. For context, this is Act 2 and during intermission everyone was freaking out and spinning three times because someone said the "m play"

Ms. Andrews (the villain) dropped something and Mary Poppins started laughing instead of singing

The policeman's mustache fell off

A door started leaking because it was raining

Lights started flickering because of the storm

The fucking ceiling started leaking but luckily someone gave an actor their fake mop and said "GO." which was genius (it's still leaking rn lol)

THEY DID FUCKING CONFETTI CANONS AGAIN WHICH WE WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO DO ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THERE WAS WATER EVERYWHERE SO TECH HAD TO STAY IN THE THEATRE FOR LIKE 20 MINUTES CLEANING THE FUCKING CONFETTI AND GETTING TOWELS AND SPIKE TAPE

I finally left for the party with one of my stage managers, only to be stopped by ugly crying teenagers because she's a senior and they won't see her again.

We arrive at the party, ONLY FOR THERE TO BE MORE SOBBING. People are signing shirts and programs and fucking shoes and even some of the freshmen stage managers were crying and it was honestly really sad but the senior and I were just laughing at everyone.

The stage manager (sophomore) that I didn't really talk to because she was stage right and I'm left, was sobbing too and I asked why and she goes "Honestly you're all just so beautiful and I was scared of you at first because you look like [insert one of my managers] and I thought you were really cool and I was jealous of her because she got all of the cool gay kids and my techies don't talk to me" which I probably should have cried at that but I didn't which I kinda feel bad about.

FINALLY I go back to my friends house because it's like 12am at this point but then we spill water all over the fucking floor

so yeah. everyone blames the "m play" now. It was actually really fun and im sad I won't see most of them for a while
