I wrote a poem.
The title is at the end.
-
I'd like to tell them a tale, my dear,
The tale of you and a I;
The tale of how we met,
Of our love, and how it shines.
-
It was years and years ago,
When we woke within the night;
A weightless world, no light or stars,
Just each other, just in sight.
-
We tried to call to the other,
But though we tried, we only failed;
Though we knew in silent words,
That one day we would prevail.
-
Oh no, but it was you, my love,
Who held your heart, your light;
You took your love in hand,
And cast it out amongst the night.
-
And though it travelled far,
We found it only stopped halfway;
So I took my love as well,
And I flung it all that way.
-
Our love, oh how it shined,
When they collided in the void;
A little ball of light,
Full of dreams, and hope, and joy.
-
Imagine all our wonder,
When the light began to soar;
A burning star of love,
Far too bright to be ignored.
-
It flew right past my side,
Just beyond me, not too far,
When it burst in supernovae,
Wrapping me in fire, so bizarre.
-
Yet I felt no pain or fear,
For it was you, and it was I;
And I knew each word you said,
I knew after all this time.
-
Once the light had gone,
I looked to you in the dark.
I knew I had to let you feel
The love I held in my heart.
-
So I cast my love away again,
And you did just the same;
But the light flew my way once more,
So I ran to stop the flame.
-
I caught it in my hand,
And threw it back your way;
And I saw the star erupt once more,
Just as bright as a sun at day.
-
We met each other's gaze,
Both still amongst the night;
But I knew you felt the same,
My heart, it felt so light.
-
After time, we made a game of it,
Flinging comets back and forth,
The goal to give the other joy,
And success as the reward.
-
And though we still stand far,
We are close as we can be,
For my love is in my sight,
They are all I need to see.
-
And our love it still remains,
One of the first of all it's kind.
We are happy to stay together,
We are happy to share our rhyme.
-
And though you may think this foolish,
I would like you to keep in mind,
That me, my love, our names,
Shall be forever known through time.
