Somewhere in the Tennant-Verse #2 - A Scottish Crossover
Campbell, holding a camera: I'll have to make some adjustments to my film. Alec, I think you should play the role of my father.
Alec: *scowls* I don't wanna be your father.
Campbell: Perfect, you already know your lines.

one of the things i love about the show is like.
in s1 he's supposed to save this terrible team from relegation, but oops it's a taller order than anticipated and oops maybe he's not quite okay himself
in s2 he slumps back through the door with his tail between his legs and has to admit yeah maybe he fucked some things because yeah maybe his father damaged him a little more than he wanted to say and okay okay, maybe he's actually got a lot of work to do
in s3 he's putting the work in. he's making changes in himself, he's facing his problems and he's doing so well with it that he.....has a complete emotional breakdown. because hey uh *nervous laughter* what do you do once you start letting go of your maladaptive coping mechanisms?? haha no seriously haha how do you be okay now??? and the man he loves has no idea how to help him and can only try to be present with him while he struggles and tries to figure it all out. and ultimately he has to fucking rally and he's gotta pick his whole self up and tell people thank you and tell people fuck you and make the daily choice to move forward with his life.
now am i talking about jamie or am i talking about ted?

there's this scene in season 1 of black sails where flint is talking to mr. gates about how he's going to sequester some of the urca gold to help make nassau safe and livable, but that they can't tell the crew because they don't understand what's in their own best interest and will waste it. and it's like. that's what happens to flint, in the end: both miranda and silver go behind his back to try to force him into the life they think he should have, miranda in season 1 with her letter asking that he be granted a pardon so they can make a life in boston, and silver in season 4 when he has flint brought to the plantation with thomas instead of allowing him to continue his war.

spider and recom!quaritch as inverted mirrors of each other makes me so... [screams]
they're both "miles", named after the same man - who they have never met, yet whose legacy deeply haunts both of them.
spider as a product of quaritch's body and recom!quaritch as a product of quaritch's mind.
spider who is loyal to the na'vi and completely immersed in na'vi culture/practically is na'vi in many ways... except for his body (and to an extent - his "blood"), which immutably sets him apart from them. recom!quaritch who is loyal to humanity and largely ignorant of na'vi culture/language, yet has a na'vi body which allows him to partake in culturally important na'vi things that spider is forever unable to (ex: bonding with an ikran and, theoretically, connecting with eywa).
and yet. there is the irony that neither of their bodies can survive in the environment of their respective "side" of the conflict. recom!quaritch needs a mask in bridgehead and spider needs a mask out in pandora.
kiri to spider: "spider, you are not him" / recom!quaritch to spider: "i'm not that man"
also - their first one-on-one conversation with each other takes place in a mirrored room, which i do not think was coincidental at all

I'll find it in a minute but there's a post about how Miguel is very touchy when it comes to MCU Doctor Strange and Peter Parker ( in which Miguel references to being a 'little nerd' since Stephen's spell somehow had even erased the other Spider people's memory too it seems as I think even Miguel doesn't know the identity ) and I don't know if it's in the post itself mentioning it but here are thoughts about this.
Mostly because Peter in that world had father figures / mentors and actually had a better upbringing than most of the Spideys around him. And also has one that actually cared about him like a son at the end of NWH, Stephen, that even considered changing / breaking the multiverse for.
It's probably also why Miguel is so hard on Miles, because even though he doesn't have a wizard as an annoyed surrogate father, it's the support system, that even 2099 didn't have that much, which gets under Miguel's skin the most.
And of course that the 199999 team ( Wanda and Loki [ s ] included ) managed to created a lot of anomalies too. Can't deny that either when talking about this.
Although, I do think if he did spend time with Doctor Strange, Miguel probably wouldn't totally seethe every five seconds with annoyance because they are somewhat a little similar because of their speeches ( I could tell the film gave Miguel the 'it's their fate to die' and the chase scene thanks to NWH ) and the fate of the multiverse speech. If Stephen can change his ways, I think Miguel can too. Also, I want Miguel to meet America because yeah, that's another whole can of worms right there.

I don’t think just changing Regina’s age would fix all the issues of the love triangle in Big Top, with all the power dynamics and life experience at play. And maybe this is me talking out of my romance repulsed ass but I always felt having any sort of romantic elements took away from a case centered around found family which tied back into the last case. Honestly, just have Ben + Trilo, Max, and Bat being nice to Regina because her father is the ringmaster. Whether because they to want use her in some sort of way (to get closer to her father or to get some sort of position, like as her performance partner or something) or because they feel some sense of responsibility and gratitude to her in extension to her father. Add Acro feeling like due to this position Regina gets special treatment and excused for everything she does, now even for “causing” the coma of her brother. Adding to the overall tragedy of nobody recognizing Regina as her own person and refusing to give her any agency in her own life.

I enjoy the idea of Placide and Adrien having a surrogate father-and-son relationship. But should that be the case in my AU? Can “Stammering Adrien” look to Placide, aka Gorilla, for fatherly advice? Can they play the occasional game of Catch? Perhaps Placide can give Adrien a pocket watch for his 18th birthday.
What do y’all think?

Uhm, okay so, I just watched the episode where Gideon dies (10x13, Nelson's Sparrow), and I just need help understanding something.
In the end of the episode, Rossi puts down his gun and basically tells the unsub to come at him, and then later he shot and killed the unsub. The way I understood it was that Rossi wanted the unsub to come at him so he'd have an excuse to shoot and kill the unsub (most likely as revenge for Gideon + all those women since the unsub was so fine with going to jail), and I'd very much not like that to be the case, so did you or anyone else interpret it that way?
unfortunately im p sure thats exactly how that scene played out… i guess you could say its better than straight up shooting him in cold blood, but is it really all that different?? i cant remember when but at some point someone calls hotch out for letting that slide when he condemned elle for essentially doing the same thing.
idk i was really disappointed with that whole episode. conceptually it felt cheap and it really just spit in the face of gideon’s entire character arc. gideon’s departure was bittersweet.. it was inevitably a bit rushed just due to the way the actor was leaving, and we didnt ever get proper closure with him and any of the others, but i think that suited him in a way?
(in fact i think it worked in everyone else’s favor, character wise. they all had to scramble in the wake of his sudden absence, putting pressure on characters who were already at their breaking point. the team is on the brink of collapse what with strauss’s attacks, reid’s struggle with sobriety, emily’s doubts, hotch’s priorities… hotch has been unit chief since the show started but there was no question that ultimately they all looked to gideon for guidance. with gideon gone the others had to step up and have faith in their own abilities—and in each other. gideon was unparalleled as a profiler, but his true passion and ultimately the legacy he left behind was as an educator. the true test of his impact was whether the team could continue without him)
but i digress! he was troubled when he left: plagued by guilt of all the people who got hurt because of him. he couldnt handle the weight of the mistakes he had made, so when he drops everything and leaves it seemed like he was running away. particularly in the rather distasteful way they teased his last goodbye as a potential suicide letter.. while that wouldve been fitting in its own way, the reveal that he was using this time to rediscover himself and find his way out of the twisted life he had entangled himself in was uplifting and hopeful: he could live a life outside the bau and find the happiness and beauty in the world he had struggled to say as of late, but had always valued. only penelope could rival his fierce desire to choose to believe in the good of the world, even as he trudged through the death and destruction humanity had to offer. but he was losing his grip on that faith and needed to leave before he lost a part of himself he’d never get back
which is why it was so disheartening to see that he had fallen right back into it. he wasnt able to leave and, ultimately, it was what got him killed in the end. it wouldve been one thing if they emphasized the hopelessness of it all and how they were all destined to die in the same way because of the life they had chosen (and could never un-choose), but instead they tried to laugh it off and talk about the good ol days and pretend that he was doing good right up until the end. instead of acknowledging the tragedy of the trap he’d created for himself that he couldnt escape from, they talked about his quirks and told stories from his early bau days. if they had at least acknowledged it and presented it as an ominous omen reflecting the future that awaited them all, then ruining the end of his story wouldve felt worth it. but they disrespected his character for cheap entertainment instead of any deeper meaning they couldve drawn from it.
sorry lahdkzh this is not what you were asking about, but i just wanted to talk about why i felt they failed in this episode on all counts. not just with rossi and hotch’s actions, but with the base idea in the first place.
