how do you feel about yue/azula/suki as a ship?

like as a throuple? i guess it kind of makes sense bc azula is such an obvious foil to sokka that replacing her with him in this dynamic does track logically. but yue and suki are also both very obvious foils to sokka, so in my mind this relationship is lesbian sokka (scary) x lesbian sokka (repressed) x lesbian sokka (well-adjusted). which is kind of a slay actually. and in the case of individual couplings, it pains me to say this because i do genuinely get the appeal, but both yuezula and azuki are just lesbian sokkla. if yuri is absence or whatever ppl say, then the absence present in all of these hypotheticals is the looming spectre of sokka.

"Sokka!"

Sokka wakes up gasping, feeling like the smoke that was suffocating him in his dreams has followed him until he's able to register where he is.

He sits up in bed, taking a few deep breaths and avoiding eye contact with Zuko, who had woken him up. "Sorry," he says, his throat still tight, and his voice cracks. "Bad dream."

Zuko shuffles closer, laying a hesitant hand on Sokka's back, and the warm skin-to-skin contact is soothing. He focuses on it as he keeps breathing, and eventually Zuko says, "You have nothing to apologize for. Do you want to talk about it?"

"Not right now," Sokka sighs, the flashes of Toph's scared face still there even as he presses the heels of his hand into his eyes, trying to ignore the pain in his leg that he felt in the dream and is seeping into reality. "Can we talk about something else? Anything."

He finally looks at Zuko, who looks concerned, but smiles when they make eye contact. They lie back down, on their sides so they are facing each other, hardly any space between them. Zuko starts talking, at first clearly grasping to find something specific to talk about until he remembers a story that he forgot to tell him. Sokka listens intently, occasionally reacting to the story, and as it ends he watches fondly as Zuko's blinks get heavier and heavier.

"Thank you. Get some sleep," Sokka whispers, moving forward to kiss his forehead.

"What about you?" Zuko mutters.

"I'm better now. Promise," Sokka says.

"Wake me up if you need me?" Zuko asks, eyes closing.

"Of course." He settles into the sheets, smiling as he continues watching Zuko's peaceful face.

"C'mere," Zuko says, hands reaching out blindly for Sokka to get closer, and Sokka's smile widens as he complies, then rolls onto his other side when he realizes what Zuko really wants. Zuko wraps his arms around Sokka from behind, hugging Sokka's back against his chest, holding him firmly.

Zuko presses a kiss against Sokka's neck. "There. You're safe in my arms," he says, and the lump in Sokka's throat stops him from replying. He simply lies there, feeling the warmth of Zuko's body against his own as well as the warmth spreading in his chest, and decides to let himself get some more sleep as well.

1.) Are you named after anyone?

Nope. My parents nearly called me Isabella but they chose Sofia last minute (I’m glad they did bc it’s Portuguese and there’s also like a million Isabellas.)

2.) When was the last time you cried?

Thursday last week bc I watched a movie in class that I didn’t expect to be triggered by but Oh Well.

3.) Do you have kids?

I don’t even have a job 😭

4.) What sports do you play/have played?

I’m absolutely terrible at every conceivable sport and hate it with a passion but I did play netball for like, six years when I was really young. Still shit at it tho lol.

5.) Do you use sarcasm?

When I need to, yes. But not if I know it’s gonna upset someone.

6.) What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Their eyes. I don’t know why it’s so random but I’m always drawn to eyes, maybe it’s because they’re the window to the soul or maybe it’s bc that’s the centre of the face and I’m scared shitless of first impressions and always think about Eye Contact.

7.) What’s your eye colour?

Green but it shifts from forest green when I wear dark green clothes to lighter green when I wear (shocker) lighter green clothes.

8.) Scary movies or happy endings?

I cannot be paid or coerced to watch anything vaguely scary so I’m strongly on the happy endings side. I just want my fictional characters to have good lives man 😭😭

9.) Any talents?

Well, I am a bit of an artist. That’s quite underground though, I’m not sure if people know? (I’m not funny) No but seriously I draw, sing, act, write, play3 instruments, I can do accents? If that counts lol. My friends say my ability to be nice to anyone is a talent, which is sweet so I’ll add it :)

10.) Where were you born?

11.) What are your hobbies?

Drawing, singing, writing fanfic (guilty pleasure), reading fanfic, playing instruments, history facts (yes I’m a nerd shut up)

Never had one :’)

5’7 and still getting taller

14.) Favourite subject in school?

English english english I knoWW we all hate writing essays but uh. I don’t? It’s kinda fun actually 😭 and I like analysing poems? Uh. My English teacher is a gift to the earth so maybe that’s why

15.) Dream job?

Psychologist. I’ve always wanted to help people (especially teens) with whatever they’re going through, neurodivergent people, queer and trans people. Literally anyone who I can help. I know it’s a hard job, and it takes a lot of work, but honestly? Seeing people happier or if I can help at least one person would be worth it :)

okay i can definitely see it, but i also think that maybe we're looking at the carving backwards and it's actually a guy with a ponytail wearing a hat?? but i really have no idea.

#brushes are harder to control than knives or other things! #so it makes sense how sokkas worse with brushes than knives or other tools that have a sort of precision to them #also hes just got a specialty for war paint i guess? #hes obviously practiced it a lot #but drawing something other than that is harder

yeah, i definitely agree that sokka has a more difficult time with tools he isn't as familiar with (and calligraphy brushes are especially difficult for beginners), which is why i did say that he would get the hang of it with practice. see this post for further elaboration.
