I believe the bird is a greater blue-eared starling, and the zebras are definitely zebras.

Doodle of @whattimeisitfic's (shsy7573 on Ao3) ocs + Lucifer because I love their fic so much, it's called "What time is it?". So much beautiful Lucifer-centric angst and hurt/comfort. Admittedly I went a little wild on the outfits, idk how to design 'em either. Also. So. Many. WINGS.

Animal of the Day!
Mexican Striped Owl (Asio clamator)
Tumblr media
Conservation Status- Least Concern
Habitat- Central America; Northern and Central South America
Size (Weight/Length)- 500 g; 35 cm
Diet- Small mammals; Insects; Reptiles; Amphibians; Small birds
Cool Facts- While the tufts on their heads might resemble ears or antenna, the feathers only add to the Mexican striped owl’s charisma. These owls have a massive range that spans the majority of Central and South America’s savannah. Despite living in the rainforest center of the world, the Mexican striped owl prefers open areas where hunting is easier. It is a common sight to spot these owls at dusk sitting on fence posts or utility wires while scanning a farmer’s field for rats. Like many species of true owl, the Mexican striped owl flies silently and uses their facial disc to pinpoint prey through noise rather than sight.
Rating- 12/10 (The owlest owl who ever owled.)

November 16, 2023 - Striped Wren-babbler (Kenopia striata) These ground babblers are found in forests and tropical swamps in a scattered range across parts of Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia. They feed on small insects, foraging alone, in pairs, or sometimes in small groups, on or near the ground in leaf litter and around fallen logs. Breeding from May to October, they build open cup-shaped nests from dead leaves lined with root-like materials in understory plants. Females lay clutches of two eggs. They are classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN due to habitat loss caused by logging and forest fires.

BOTD: Striped Cuckoo
Tumblr media
Photo: Alejandro Bayer Tamayo
"Long-tailed, fairly small cuckoo of tropical lowlands, rarely seen unless singing its loud and far-carrying song, usually from a fence or other low perch. Most of the time it is furtive, feeding on or near the ground in dense growth. Found in scrubby woodland and edge, overgrown weedy fields, and thickets, often with dense grasses. While singing it often raises and lowers its dark crest."
