Promises

I should probably be working on the three multichaps I've been balancing but ehehe oh well *throws a new fic to the fandom*

Summary: As the Scouts gear up to retake Shiganshina, Captain Levi makes a promise to the mother of his child. [Canonverse where Petra lives]

“I’m marrying you when I get back.”

His voice was a hush, but the words were loud enough to make Petra pause on her self-imposed task to saddle in his horse. He’s sure that he’d scolded her for the nth time already, telling her that it’s not her job to do so.

Not now when she’s three months into her pregnancy.

It all started the same night after the 57th expedition. Their squad’s death led to passionate sighs and grief-stricken fucks in his office. This was promptly followed by nervous stutters the morning after.

They decided to never talk about it ever again, not when they’re anticipating Petra’s upcoming promotion to become his second-in-command with her being the remaining veteran in his team. The last thing he wants is people questioning the position that she more than deserved.

Three weeks later and Levi found himself barreling towards fatherhood.

He’d always considered himself a callous man, but seeing the heartbroken look on Petra’s face when she had no choice but to step down from his squad had been more than enough to break something inside him.

It was his very first time to sleep with a woman then and he’d already fucked it all up, and now he’d dragged his best subordinate down with him.

Levi had left the choice all up to her, not really knowing how to approach Petra when they weren’t even together. All he could do was promise to support her in whatever decision she’d take.

But Petra was insistent, her face fearful but voice filled with resolve when she announced that she’s keeping the child. Their child.

“Levi, you don’t have to,” Petra reasons, her hand now cradled on top of her rounding belly. “I’ve told you as much before.”

Levi gives a cursory glance at his surroundings, seeing both soldiers and the only civilians in on the plan buzz around preparing for the Scouts’ biggest mission yet. He hesitates for a moment, not used to showing any type of affection in public, but he still reaches out to tuck a stray copper hair behind her ear, his finger lingering and trailing down the back of her earlobe.

Petra visibly shivers, and it takes them both back to the night their child was conceived.

An accident, but to the both of them, not a mistake.

Not when he’d see Petra light up with the kid’s every kick after the initial discomfort on her face. Not when he’d enter the apartment he’s renting for her and how it always felt like he was coming home.

She used to stay back with her father in Karanese but after the Military Police started targeting her with rumors of Levi’s involvement in her pregnancy, he made sure to drop by and hide her away in the most secure spot he could find near the Scouts’ HQ before he went on the run.

Petra was not happy with being treated like a porcelain doll, and he’d had to buy her grilled chicken with goat cheese and a slice of cheesecake as she nagged him down. Damn woman had been too obsessed with cheese since they learned she’s pregnant, but he’d found it more endearing than annoying.

He knew then that he’s probably too far gone.

Fatherhood was never a part of his plan, but he’d be damned first before he allows this child to be fatherless and leave the woman who’d always stood by him hanging.

Levi had never defined his relationship with Petra. For so long, she was his subordinate and she’d been brave enough to push past the boundaries to offer friendship. She became his lover for a night, the next thing he knows, she’s the mother of his child.

He wants more of her. He wants it all. A family, a house he’d come home to after each mission, a kid eager to welcome him back and a wife who’d kiss him and ask about how his day went.

Was he in love? Who the hell knows. He’d never been in a relationship before to even have a direct comparison. His shitty childhood didn’t help at all. But one thing he’s sure of is that whatever Petra’s willing to give him, he’d gladly take it.

“Who says I feel like I have to?” Levi finally replies as he pulls out something from his pocket, placing it on her palm. “Here.”

The ring was a simple copper band, and a box couldn’t even be seen in sight. He’d bought it during Historia’s coronation and it was the only piece of quality jewelry he could find that won’t completely blow the budget he’d set out for her and the upcoming baby.

It’s a cheap-ass ring, but Petra cradles the band in her hand as if it’s worth a thousand gold coins.

“I don’t want to tie you down,” Petra argues, tears now welling in her eyes the more she gazes at the ring on her palm. “You willing to raise him is more than enough—”

“Oi, kid,” Levi said, kneeling down on one knee to level his face with her growing belly. Petra’s breath hitches, amber eyes blinking wide at how the captain was willing to show his soft side when he’d always hidden behind a stony demeanor. “Your mom’s being stubborn. Can you ask her if she can marry me? Maybe she’d listen to you. She’d been insubordinate since you popped up.”

Levi gives her a pointed look, although he spares her a playful quirk of his lip.

He notices that the other soldiers were sneaking glances at them now, while the 104th brats were full on staring at the scene. Levi throws them all a glare to mind their fucking business, which draws out a quiet chuckle from the woman before him when they see Eren and Jean scamper off.

“You’re going to be a great father,” Petra notes, before quietly adding, “And husband.”

He snaps up, eyes as soft as it’s intense as he looks at her, “Is that a yes?”

She bites her lip, the sunrise illuminating her cheek makes her blush all the more breathtaking. She carefully slips the copper ring on her finger, and Levi couldn’t help himself from raising her hand to give a soft kiss on the back of her palm.

“Maybe you can take me out on a date first when you get back from Shiganshina?” She asks as she straightens the cravat underneath his scout cape.

“Levi, time to go,” Erwin calls out from behind them. Hange was busy rambling to Moblit while the newer squad leaders herd all their new recruits for a final briefing of each team.

Petra looks at the horizon, at the way the green expanse meets the golden glow of the rising sun. He sees how the melancholy sparked in her eyes for a second when she takes a glance at all the other Scouts, and Levi felt that familiar tinge of guilt—the self-hatred that he’d done this to her even when both parties were consenting.

He leans down, giving her a kiss on her forehead and runs a thumb against her lower lip. He doesn’t know boundaries at this moment. They’d never fucked or even kissed since that night, but as she melts into his touch right now, he hopes to whoever deity’s out there that he’s doing something right.

“I’ll find a restaurant where you can eat all the cheese and chocolate that you want,” he promises instead.

“You better. You just proposed,” she teases him, but her voice betrays her as Levi hears the familiar nervous hitch in her tone. “I can’t be a widow when I’m not even married yet.”

It’s stupid to make such a promise, especially with how risky this mission is compared to all their previous attempts. But for the first time since he joined the scouts, Levi has this unwavering resolve that he is going to come back. Whatever it takes, he’ll come back.

He’d kill all the fucking titans if that meant his kid won’t grow up without a dad.

His hands settles on Petra’s waist to reassure both her and the child growing inside her, “I’ll be back here in no time.”

2020: A [Fandom] Summary

2020 was a pretty rotten year, let’s face it, so now I’m safely away from it for good I’m stealing something @gumnut-logic mentioned to me and summarising all the things I managed to make this year! Let’s start 2021 on a nice positive note... look at all the things I managed to do in the world of fandom!

I published 69 works, 66 of which are complete - all for Thunderbirds Are Go

Which came to a total of 268,863 words (Tumblr-only scenes and short stories came to a further 29,764 words which put my grand total up to 298,627!)

My most popular fic on tumblr was Out Patience with 60 notes (wow!!)

My most kudos’d fic on AO3 was Bedtme (Should Not Be 4am) with 62 kudos!

My most favourited fic on FFN was Grounded with 13 favourites!

My longest fic was Long Way From Home, which is incomplete but on 30,902 words published so far (longest complete fic was Grounded on 21,100 words)

(I have not included Tales From The Heart as everything that was posted this year on my blog was written and archived on AO3/FFN in 2017-2019)

1. what fandoms have you written for (but do not currently)?

a lot of anime ones 🤣 and a ton of classic ones (i was a superwholock, guys-). miraculous ladybug was my last big main fandom before kpop, though!

2. what fandoms are you currently writing for?

kpop :D stray kids, nct, itzy, mamamoo, bts, got7...so many. pretty much any kpop group or idol that i’m into, i’ll write for! and my requests are always open 👀

3. how long have you been writing?

i started posting fanfic in 2010, but i’ve been writing my whole life. the first full story i remember, i was...8? so 16, 17 years.

4. on which platforms do you post your stories?

ao3 and tumblr! but i was an og fanfic/net user, and i’ve used livejournal, twitter, pretty much everything...

5. what is your favorite genre to write?

slice of life! i just want to tell simple stories, things that we all feel. people who do their best. events that we can all understand.

6. are you a pantser or a planner?

pantser, 100%. i have never fully planned a story in my life.

7. one-shot or multi-chapter?

oneshot. i love a multichap but i prefer not being restrained by the obligation to keep going 😅 i’m really inconsistent-

8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?

there’s no perfect amount - however many words get the story across is the right amount. i usually write 7-10k per chapter, but that’s only recently! i used to write way less, i’ve been working on getting more words in per release.

9. what is your longest published story?

i have an NCT/SM Entertainment WIP called The Lotus Effect on my ao3 that’s about 75k? on tumblr, my longest fic is holding you like this (14k) and the more & more series as a whole is nearly 60k, so far 🤔

10. which story did you enjoy working on the most?

holding you like this! i know that i’m best known for more & more, but this fic is my best skz work so far. maybe my best work of all.

11. favorite request you’ve written and why?

ball & chain! that fic was just an idea tossed around on the tl ages ago, but it has some of my fave nsfw themes in it~

12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?

there are some, i think. found family, difficult relationships with parents, college/uni settings, miscommunication as a plot device, no straight characters ever. i love characters who are just good people who make mistakes. i like happy endings.

13. current number of wips?

um...four? five? i don’t actually usually have a lot of ideas going at once!

14. three things you have noticed about your writing?

my use of commas and fragments is RIDICULOUS. i repeat sentiments a lot, for emphasis, and i have no idea if it’s annoying to read. and i write banter/comedic dialogue better than anyone i know 😌

Writerfest - Joey’s Interrogation

Tagged by the lovely @thewriterinthecottage , who really wanted to pick my brain and see what kind of writer I am so we can compare notes

Fandom: I’ve written for a few different fandoms in the past; but as of right now, my focus is on Bungou Stray Dogs. I’m not much of a fandom-hopper when it comes to creating content, so you won’t find me juggling a lot of fandoms at once because it’s easy for me to lose track of things that way.

Where do you post? I post on Twitter, Tumblr, AO3 and sometimes my Kofi page. All of those links are in my blog description. Twitter is more for experimental writing and whatever floats my boat, my Tumblr audience gets the best content I curated from my Twitter writing, AO3 gets the best content from both Tumblr and Twitter, and Kofi is there for me to post some wholesome stuff occasionally. So if you want to participate in polls and vote for wacky shenanigans or writing challenges you want me to do, Twitter is my sandbox in that regard while the other platforms get my more polished stuffs.

Most Popular Oneshot: For the BSD fandom, my most popular oneshot was an odazai smut I wrote back in April called Hold Me A Little Closer. I was stressed with my creative writing professor at the time and pretty much wrote this story because I wanted to create something that I wanted to create. I was sick and tired of his assignments and pretty much fueled all of my pent-up creativity and into this lovely oneshot that many of y’all have enjoyed :’3

Most Popular Multichap: For the BSD fandom, I don’t really have one. For fandoms that I’m no longer a part of, I have a few.

Favorite Story Written So far: Hands down, it has to be the grueling and very monostorious fic I wrote back in August for Oda - called Savor The Moment. As of right now, it’s the longest BSD project I’ve ever published and it’s at a whopping 12.5k ish. Oda is one of my favorite characters from the series and what inspired this story was my fascination for Dark Era, my fascination for Oda’s past and where he came from before joining the Mafia, my fascination with his relationship with the kids, the curry shop owner and Dazai, and my love for writing about the weather and food. I wrote, rewrote, edited, and revised this story in the span of a month and of everything I’ve written, you could tell how much love I had for this project and for what I was doing. It’s not an easy read by any means and you definitely have to take your time with it because it dives into light and heavy themes, but it’s a worthwhile read if you really love what I mentioned and want to see how I flesh out Oda.

Fic you were nervous to post: Anything regarding physical intimacy because I don’t get it, but I find it fascinating. As an autistic biroace, exploring physical intimacy through writing is an interesting endeavour and I do believe it shapes how I approach a lot of the relationship writing that I do and what I tend to gravitate towards when I write how comfortable characters are with each other and when they share some sweet or indulgent moments. I wouldn’t say I’m nervous, per se - but as someone who’s exploring topics like this through my own perspective and what resonates with me, it does make me wonder how people not like me perceive it. If that makes sense.

How do you choose titles: I’m not ashamed to admit that I wander through Goodreads and see what titles are being published, find a few that I like, take the elements that I do like, and mesh something together that I find fitting for a story. I like looking at published books for inspiration for titles to see what the trends are and how other writers do it. Sometimes, I’ll use phrases or lines of dialogue from my fic as the title if I find it fitting or I literally use the theme or main message of the story as the title.

Do you outline? I outline enough to know the rules of my story so I can figure how I want to break them (if it’s a multi-chapter project), and I outline enough to at least know the beginning of a story so I can start writing. I struggle with beginnings so knowing how I want to start makes things easier for me. Sometimes I’ll draft what the general path of the story will be, but I always deviate when I’m actually writing because I’m a discovery writer and through the act of writing, I have a much better grasp of what the story wants to be. I don’t care if I deviate a whole lot or if I have to rewrite what I’ve written. To me, that’s just part of my process and I embrace that. I find that I enjoy writing a lot more when I’m loose about these things because that’s where my experimental style really thrives.

Complete: Ever since April of 2020, I’ve made a goal of publishing one fic onto AO3 per month. That’s why I’ve been a productive fic writer this year despite the world going to shit and the Hell that is remote learning. More than anything, that goal has taught me a lot of things about myself that I didn’t know and it’s helped me fall back in love with writing and in me figuring out why I write and what I want to write. Since April of 2020, I’ve posted 18 works onto my AO3 and many more on my Twitter and Tumblr. Ranging from drabbles to ficlets to oneshots and poetry!

In-progress: I’m currently working on a writing challenge that my Twitter followers voted on, and it’s an AU where Oda and Dazai left the Mafia together and burned the belongings that indoctrinated them into the organization -- Dazai burns his overcoat while Oda burns a pair of sunglasses (reference to his original character design where he wore sunglasses ToT). Another fic I’m working on this month is transcribing a poem I wrote in October and making it a full-fledged fic! Once again, it revolves around Oda and Dazai. However this time, they’re an established and domestic couple who’re snuggling under a blanket as winter encroaches upon their futon. That’s a feel-good fic and I’m all for it!

Coming Out Soon/Not Started: I have a TBW (to be written) list that I don’t want to reveal just yet since those fics will come out in 2021, but I can tell you that they’re intricate character studies and of me exploring different relationships and dynamics that may’ve occurred while in canon :3c

Prompts: I fulfilled 10 kiss prompts that I received in October and finished the last one earlier this week or a week ago. With the holidays approaching and with me wanting to finish some stories before 2020, I’m afraid I won’t be taking on any more prompts for this year. However, if you want to prompt me something for me to think about, my Tumblr ask is always open for that or you can participate in my random and occasional Twitter polls where you get to pick what I do for a story.

Upcoming Work Most Excited About: I have a soukoku WIP that I wrote back in September. The first draft is complete. It just needs a lot of rewriting and edits. But when I’m done, that’ll be my longest published work for the fandom. Why this excites me is because it’s the only time I’ll ever write a main pair fic that’s 20k+ in word count and knowing how this fandom views soukoku, I’m interested in what engagement would be like compared to me writing for my OTP and just experience what that’s like.
