I need to draw more of the voices and Narrator...
There is a lot of instances where one of the voices just takes over Quiet's body, usually against his will.

-SPOILERS FOR SLAY THE PRINCESS-
-GO PLAY IT / WATCH A PLAYTHROUGH. ITS SO GOOD-
@mr---person
I did misinterpret what you meant! :’)) I looked at it way too literally lol. Now that you mention it, their circumstances are super similar- you put it way better than i can, but through my watches of the different routes i collected moments that made me think of gaster; (i didn't know where to put them in my last post)
The princess saying that the narrator used to be a person, but now he’s more of an echo immediately made me think of gaster- not alive, but not quite dead. actions reflecting on the walls of reality, mildly affecting it, after the person who performed them is long gone.
And also this line from the narrator himself:
The tragic isolation and the dejected care and hope, gosh i love characters like them so much skdhfks,,,
I imagine their conversations would be a bit more serious and somber than the typical silliness of the other “omnipresent friends” comics i made, but Gaster would try to comfort The Narrator about the unfortunate place in reality they share, maybe even get him to see it the way he does. As a sort of blessing in disguise.
Also wingdings,,, wing,,, bird,,,,, crow,,,, i think giving me a keyboard and a brain was a mistake
Gosh now that you bring up how gaster seems to be sort of uncaring towards Darkners- idk if he truly doesn't care for them (since there’s still a chance that he took away our ability to kill in the dark world) but he’s certainly on the side of light- and now i'm wondering about his stance on what truly is alive in the world of Deltarune- aaaaaaaa
Anyway, these two solitary gods of their own making are now friends. Gaster tries to give the narrator an egg as a gift but the narrator can just lay his own

slay the princess voices. They should all be silly birds
@frogsbeesandmushrooms
loose explanation for each bird choice below cut
Narrator - Crow : He just is I’m assuming. Idk that’s what he looks like.
Hero - Raven: He could be the same as Narrator but different.
Broken - Swan: Idea of swan song maybe, also the white gives a sort of pure vibe to match the Tower’s whole religion vibe.
Smitten - Wilson’s Bird of Paradise: The mating/show off bird. Plus curly heart tail is cute
Cold - Owl: This one was a bit more random, kind of just picked a bird with an edgier vibe. (The drawing is a Great-Horned)
Stubborn - Eagle: Big strong
Opportunist - Luzon Bleeding-Heart Dove: Dove for peace/trust that’s broken and regained with Witch/Thorn. Bleeding heart for the “stabbed in the back” thing.
Cheated - Magpie: Sneaky, spiteful, shiny things. Wanted to make him crow or raven but those were used already so another corvid will have to do. Sigh.
Contrarian - Seagull: Explanation unnecessary he’s a silly guy
Hunter - Pheasant: A commonly hunted bird, more dignified than a duck or turkey though.
Paranoid - Sparrow: Skittish little guy
Skeptic - Hawk: “Hawk-eyed”, aggressive when needed

I think what's really interesting about a Swap AU for Slay the Princess is that there are countless ways one can approach this AU.
You could swap the Princess and Player's roles entirely, with the Narrator ordering the Shifting Mound to slay the Long Quiet. In this scenario, the Narrator could have a different motive, such as instead of wanting stillness to prevent death in the universe, he wants change.
Alternatively, you could keep the roles of the the Long Quiet and the Shifting Mound as they are, but the Player is the Shifting Mound and the Princess is the Long Quiet instead. So, in this version, maybe we could have a human version of the Player (I guess he's the Prince here?) and a bird monster version of the Princess. Orrr you could still keep their current appearances (all of the fanart of bird boi being chained up in a basement is pretty funny).
You could even choose if you want to swap the Voices or not. The Voices could remain as voices in the Princess' head or they could be a swap equivalent of the Shifting Mound's princesses. It would be interesting to see monstrous, scary versions of the Voices.

My depiction of the Narrator and Voice of the Hero
Nothing too fancy, but I like the idea of the voices being a form of colored light while the Narrator is an inky, cloudy mass.
Here’s more concepts!
