I colored in some princesses

Colors of Prisoner and Nightmare were based on posts from @17magpiesinatrenchcoat and @dmanix respectively! (sorry for the tag i just wanted to make sure)

thorn took the longest, razor took the shortest (which is funny bc theyre tied for my fave of these)

I specifically made razor still uncolored despite coloring the background just to add to her weird uncanny vibe

I think Skeptic and Smitten are actually true opposites and it’s part of why we never see them in a route together on their own. Skeptic is skepticism and Smitten is blind devotion, and those two concepts cancel each other out.

Think about it: our perspective of the Princess alters what she becomes. Damsel is a harmless and soft Princess Classic with no deeper world because the Smitten views the Princess as a harmless victim that can do no wrong and loves him back. The Prisoner is more complex because Skeptic IMMEDIATELY pegs her as someone more calculating, intelligent, but also capable of reasonable discussion. He’s willing to hear her out or side with her, but not without hearing out all sides.

Smitten and Damsel are star crossed lovers defying an evil Narrator that wants to tear them both apart. Skeptic and Prisoner are two hostages who realize that they need the others assistance to escape someone whose trying to pull the wool over both their eyes (also the Narrator).

And even funnier, BOTH are correct ways to interpret our relationship with the Princess!

But it’s hard to picture any sort of resolution between these two ideas because they are nearly contradictory because of the Pristine Blade; you either side with the Narrator initially or the Princess.

This could also be why Cold and Smitten don’t cancel each other out. Cold doesn’t hate the Princess, he just feels NOTHING towards her. He only shows up organically if we take advantage of her in a vulnerable state to kill her as quickly as possible. That’s why he only appears in states where the Princess is already “dead” in the Player’s view, like the Spectre, the Greys, and the Wraith. Cold’s only opinion of the Princess is “dead”, and that trait doesn’t contradict the opinions the other Voices may have.

Can’t wait to take a lot of time drawing the burned grey route version of him (not even being sarcastic I have so many ideas)

Congratulations you can killed a bird next part you kill your self and you’ll see the voice of the witch 💪 (idc if it should be he spectre cus she swapped the cold but she would not behave that way, although some stuff has changed I want to keep the personalities of everyone pretty similar but tweaked)

Thing I’m pretty sure I haven’t mentioned that I want to is the claws are long because in the last chapter of you try to kill the monster but warn him you see the claws are super long, the smitten, the hunted, and the opportunist all will have long claws since the princess in this version saw the monster slice its leg trying to escape the bear trap and in the og game the princess got more animalistic if you saw her chew on her wrist(not the damsel though but I wanted to keep a consistent thing with the smitten opportunist and hunted)

i've been thinking a lot about shifting mound's damsel lines from when you fight her. they're very clever.

"your lover drives a stake into your body. and another, and another, and another. do i miss your heart because i can't stand to see it go?"

"but the stakes meant nothing to you. you had a desire, and you set that desire free, you lifting me and me lifting you, forever and ever and ever. consumed by true belief, there was nothing that could hold us back."

the wordplay here is insane; the double meaning of stakes, the double meaning of miss. god the writing of this game is phenomenal.

might be my favourite line out of all the vessels. moment of clarity's is definitely a close second though, and honourable mention to wraith if you don't struggle and free her, the greys and the witch. still haven't gotten the "there are no endings" ending because i LOVE fighting the shifting mound solely because of her lines.
