While I like Steven Universe and all of it's misgivings (even though I feel some parts of it could be written a bit more realistically, like Kevin and Steven's weird animosity angle), I always felt that the Movie adding Spinel was kind of a lazy and thoughtless decision just to make Pink Diamond more cruddy than she really is. I get that as part of the regime that considered castes wouldn't treat their lower halves with such kindess as they would the parts they belonged to, but it just seemed rather out of character for Pink to discard Spinel and make her stay in her garden for so damn long, if we were to assume Pink actually did shatter her Pearl accidentally. If there was more instances of Pink Diamond being that volatile in the show and not a lot of heresay (The Crystal Gems talking about Pink like she's an spoilt brat, for example), I'd probably would buy it more. As it stands, there's too little information thanks to the nature of the show, and it really just feels like after the revelation of Pink and Rose Quartz being one and the same, they forgot to give more humanizing qualities to Rose, especially sinc she's such a trigger for Steven in Future.

Spinel, to me, only exists to make Pink Diamond more cruel than she actually is, and I don't actually like Spinel because of that.

I agree with you in part. I don't think Spinel exists only to make Pink look more cruel, but I think the show started villainizing her a little too much in general, culminating in Future.

The idea is sound on paper. Present a character as a paragon of unreachable goodness, to the point that Steven feels like everyone expects him to measure up to his dead mom, and then start showing the cracks in her shining armor: she looked down on the same humans she swore to protect, she bubbled Bismuth, she shattered Pink Diamond and is the reason Homeworld hates everything to do with Earth, she was Pink Diamond and lied to all of the CGs and forced Pearl to keep her secret. We see her at her best, and slowly we go backwards to see at her worst. The idea is that we're supposed to put together the events in reverse order and appreciate her character development... but in practice, it means that Steven just starts to resent Rose and have an attitude of "yes mom sucks, must be a day ending in Y"

Future is what irked me the most. The last time Rose is plot relevant, we discover that she literally traumatized Pink Pearl through a temper tantrum. The last time we see Rose, it's her painting stuffed inside Lion's mane, out of sight and out of mind. The last time we hear her name, Steven is angrily comparing Greg to her. Everyone has moved on from her, but not in a healthy way, but in an almost... cancelled way? The narrative put too much focus on her bad actions, and seemingly forgot that Pink did a massive work on herself to do the closest thing a Gem can to grow up.

Spinel is just one of those examples. As an antagonist, she works, she's out of her mind with emotional pain, Pink and not Rose hurt her (so Steven can't just tell her the truth, like she did with Jasper and the Diamonds), and her inner conflict is abandonment issues, which how in the hell is Steven supposed to solve? He doesn't, the Diamonds do. But... yeah. Since Rose isn't around to defend herself, a recurring theme in SU, we never learn why she never came back for Spinel. Maybe because the portals were broken! But the narrative just leaves us with "Pink was a jerk and abandoned her friend because she was annoying" (or because she was meant to replace Pink Pearl in a shallow, insulting way, but still).

This is a big flaw of trying to paint the complexities of a dead character. We have to rely on hearsay, different opinions, and so does the titular character. Steven decided that Rose was a liar, and that's where the show stopped. It sucks, because Rose is my favorite character in the show and back in the day I swear that she was more hated than the Diamonds :<

Please let it be known that I am doing extensive edits on existing chapters of Crack the Paragon right now.

Chapters 1-4 already have edits posted. The broad story beats are unchanged, except for the particulars of how Steven's halves operate when separated. When I decided to try and revisit earlier chapters of this story and see if I could start working on it again, I found myself unhappy with how I characterized Steven when cleaved into two- the original story treated this split as if Steven merely had his gem removed, but was otherwise unchanged... the same Steven he's always been.

Now, I am trying to approach it from the angle that this upheaval has fundamentally shattered Steven, and that Steven- by technicality- doesn't actually exist for the first few chapters. The others regard Steven's human half as if he IS Steven- it's only natural I feel, he looks identical, has the same memories, and mostly acts the same, given that his human component seems to be the one with all the communication skills and the ability to regulate his emotions halfway decently- but he himself still only feels like an echo of the person they want him to be. The simplest tell of this is that I am stripping out almost every instance of Steven's human half referring to himself AS Steven in his POV. Beyond that, I'm cleaning up some prose and dialogue and trying to give some more insight into how this part of Steven views the world around him and his existential existence, and stuff.

Plus... y'know... just generally trying to tighten up those first few chapters to begin with. Shit's kinda messy, yo. My brief glance through later chapters tells me that my editing won't have to be so extensive once I get past the segment with cleaved Steven, thankfully.

I've had 3.7K words of chapter 14 written out for a very long time, and once I am all caught up on my edits I will be gunning to finally finish it. As always, I cannot promise a single thing with regard to the whims of my muse, but with my renewed interest in Steven Universe this season of life I really wanted to do my best to pick this fic up again and continue crafting a story, however long I can.

Once I have chapter 14 finished I'll probably do a lil countdown on my main blog (@novantinuum) or something... boost the story again, remind people of its existence a little ahahah.

I Think Wreck-Gar Would Be A Raccoon In Hazformers AU...

okay even though I know he might not appear in the fan fic that has to do with Hazformers (that is by Blitzy-Blitzwing.) that is called Becoming a Demon. 

but I think that if Wreck-Gar, did end up in the afterlife and in the human afterlife instead of the Well Of Allsparks....it would make sense that he becomes a anthropomorphic raccoon, but as sweet as a cinnamon roll that he is, he might end up being send to hell instead.

it just makes sense for Wreck-Gar, the precious cinnamon roll, to end up as a raccoon....because of how some raccoons tend to go through people’s trash.   

and it’s okay that not everyone agrees about that thought, that Wreck-Gar in a Crossover AU like Hazformers, could end up becoming a raccoon.

I don’t think Ratchet would be too surprised about Wreck-Gar becoming a raccoon...

I still think it be interesting, in a crossover type way that Wreck-Gar became a raccoon but not everyone has to agree about that.

I love the crossover idea about Sapphire who makes up one of the halves of Garnet from Steven Universe, is TFA-Prowl’s reincarnation.

or at least, a version of TFA-Prowl from a different timeline and reality...

but not everyone has to like that idea about TFA-Prowl and Sapphire from Steven Universe...

if Sans from Undertale can be the future self of Steven Quartz Universe, then some fans, can like the idea about Sapphire being the reincarnation of TFA-Prowl, the Steven Universe show came much later after TFA had finished, so we could view that TFA-Prowl’s spark was reincarnated into a Gem.

anyway, I don’t think I have much to say about the thought about Wreck-Gar, and how I believe if he did appear in Hazformers, he would be a raccoon.

Rothena! I started calling her that to differentiate her from su athena, but it ended up sticking so that's her name now! She was originally gonna be a half gem like steven & mae, but i changed it so she was born to a human father and a human mother. The origin of this was inspired by a fic i read where(spoilers for the fic, written just-post-pink-diamond-reveal) "connie thought she was pink diamond bc when she was younger, she got really ill & her parents tried an experimental treatment made of pink diamond's fake shards ground up & put in her blood or something, and so she had some gem abilities/endurances. and she told steven she was pink diamond the same time steven told her abt rose being pink diamond which was a rly fun read tbh BUT i'm going with this being half-rose-quarz-athena's origin story. She got rly fucking sick & her parents were desperate so they were like 'sure we'll augment her with this rose quartz gem, we want her to live' and now she's a half gem." Rothena's powers take more concentration to use when she's calm than they do when she's nervous or in a state of adrenaline, and they'll probably cap at some point instead of growing and expanding like steven's or pink diamond's or mae's, althought she may find more creative ways to use what she's got, like steven in s1.

She has healing powers (not healing tears, nor spit, just kind of will-power-focus-towards-the-body-part-closest-to-the-wound) slower than the medigun, but definitely faster than the wound healing on its own. She can sacrifice some of her energy to speed up the healing as well. She cannot summon her own weapon, but can summon objects from her gem and has way more storage than a quartz has, but still less than a pearl--i'd say about one 7/11 or two storage wars sized storage units' worth! She also has that sword, custom made by Bismuth, that she uses as her main weapon. I'm also considering giving her a shield that she used pre-bismuth & pre-wedding/cym/connie's sword breaking.

Since she hasn't had her gem since before birth, Rothena is more of a fusion. Her halves can separate without any negative effects to either of them besides momentary weakness to the human component and aching loneliness(which worsens the more they are separated & away from each other) to both of them. She named her human half "Thena" and her gem half "Rosa"(pronounced with a soft 'S'). Creative, i know. Also for each half-gem i try to give them a non-human physical attribute--for mae it's her unnaturally purpley blue eyes, for steven i color his hair pink-tinted, and for rothena her skin is tinted pink (but her human half's skin tone is identical to su athena's).

I reread The Glass Gemstone last night (my one single full complete Steven Universe fic and only thing I'm truly proud of), and... äh... I was projecting so much shit I didn't recognize in myself.

Just SO MUCH.

Like sooooo much.

For example, I accurately portrayed behaviors directly related to trauma without ever educating myself on it. :3

I described sensory shutdown and internal scripting. :3c

And I roughly described the idea of traumagenic multiplicity while implying Steven's gem and human halves had always been emotionally separate and experiencing different pressures in life related to the trauma of their mother's influence.

Hello! Your comic is fantastic and I love it. I'm just curious.... if there were to be a hypothetical "Fell" (aka an Underfell) equivalent of Crystal Caverns, what would you have it be like? As well as for Underswap... would the protagonist be Connie herself? Possibly even as a child of one of the other Diamonds? (As a reference to Gem Connie AUs of Steven Universe itself)

Crystal Fell can be created if the Diamonds got stuck beyond the barrier too. Suddenly, what becomes an (on paper) neutral society towards humans and organic life becomes hostile to both, and conformity among Gemkind is responded to by violence. Steven, in such a scenario will almost certainly be hated for both his human and Gem halves, and might depend on his isolation and Pearl's protection to even survive to his current age. As for Underswap, me and my co-creator have pretty much determined that certain Underswap classic swaps just don't work for TCC, even with personality swaps. Applying Momswap to TCC on the other hand has more promising results. Connie would be the protagonist either way. If Doug fell underground, I can see him and Rose getting together, in this scenario. Diamondswaps are cool AUs, but I'm not sure combining that with the rest of Momswap works, especially if we want to keep Pink's second Pearl in the spotlight. The main swaps would be between Pearl and Peridot, Amethyst and Lapis, & Jasper and Garnet. And all of those are highly interesting possibilities to explore. I would consider either leaving Padparadscha and Leggy alone or swapping them with Aquamarine and Eyeball, and either option would work there.

Separation (Red Diamond AAU Drabble)

A certain (and very spoilerific, considering when it happens in the Steven Universe cartoon) familiar scene... but with a twist. (Also bit of a warning: there’s blood/ injuries involved.)

Original Gem AU (as well as zircon!George, sapphire!Harold, peridot!Melvin, and tourmaline!Poopypants) belongs to angerydj. Alexandra belongs to me.

(Honestly I was bored and wanted to write something. Then I remembered something I haven’t written out yet which will require a part 2 in the future).

Of all the gems George and Harold had faced, Watermelon Tourmaline was one of the most recurring antagonists. An old gem from their Homeworld days, he had been quite persistent in trying to catch them as well as Red Quartz when he was still around. It was one thing fighting him during the war all those centuries ago, but it was another when it turned out he was still around and was able to come back to earth.

 But after he found out that Alexandra had Red Quartz’s–No, Red Diamond’s–gem, he became more dangerous than before. To him, capturing Red Quartz would not only ensure a personal victory over the rebels, but would ensure that no one on Homeworld would ever make fun of him again.

Unfortunately it appeared that this was not going to be like old times. This time he had wised up and had enough back up to ensure a different outcome.

He distracted the sapphire and zircon and their allies with his machines while he himself chased after Alexandra in the destroyed ruins that was once Red Diamond’s base. (It was unfortunate that his young assistant and fellow scientist Orange Peridot decided to ally himself with the little miscreants, but he had other things to care about). Alexandra tried to run away, but Watermelon Tourmaline caught up and all it took was a few attacks from the robot he piloted to make the girl crash to the floor with bruises across her body. He wanted ‘Red Quartz’ to suffer, and held off from doing serious damage, but he couldn’t believe how weak the gem was.

“Is that the best you can do, Quartz?!” Watermelon Tourmaline sneered from inside his robot.

“I’m... I’m not...” Alexandra wheezed as she tried to crawl away, even though she knew it was pointless.

She wasn’t able to crawl away in time when the robot roughly grabbed her between two fingers and held her up until she was facing him. “Stop running away and face me like a real gem!” He sneered. “Show your true self!” He still thought she was Red Quartz, she realized. He had no clue whose gem in her stomach really belonged to.

Watermelon Tourmaline gave her a sadistic look. “If you won’t, then I’ll make you!” One of the robot’s fingers opened up to reveal a small tweezer like appendage that shot out towards the child and forced her shirt up to reveal the beautiful shining stone in her midsection.

“No don’t!” Alexandra tried to wriggle free. She had no clue what would happen if the gem was pulled out and she didn’t want to find out.

The tweezers pinched the stone and began to tug at it. It hurt so much and Alexandra was screaming as the tugging made her feel as if her insides were going to be ripped out along with it.

“Come on out, Red!”

“NO!” She screamed as she heard George and Harold screaming for her. The moment they arrived on the scene, their eyes grew in alarm and they ran towards the robot with their weapons ready. 

But by then it was too late.

The gem finally pulled free–along with bits of human skin and blood that still clung to it.

The child’s scream was almost deafening. It was one of the most awful sounds imaginable. 

She was unceremoniously released and she crashed to the floor before anyone could reach her.

Watermelon Tourmaline let out a triumphant laugh as the zircon and sapphire reached Alexandra. “FINALLY!” The robot held up the gemstone that was half coated in blood. “I FINALLY CAPTURED RED QUARTZ! NOW EVERYONE WILL GIVE ME THE RESPECT I RIGHTFULLY DESERVE!”

Both George and Harold had been kneeling beside Alexandra as she cried in pain and clutched her injured navel where the gem once was. They both turned in anger at Watermelon Tourmaline and George was the first to strike. He quickly took out his tie whip and threw it out–willing it to extend as far as it could–until it wrapped around the robot arm’s tweezers.

“GIVE IT BACK!” George yelled as he tugged as hard as he could, while Harold also grabbed onto the weapon and tried to pull alongside him.

“LET GO YOU BRATS!” Watermelon Tourmaline snapped as the robot arm tried to pull away, but the young gems were able to hold their ground.

George tried to pull as hard as he could, but it was clear that something else needed to be done. In a desperate move, Harold took his shield out and threw it at the old gem in the robot. “NO YOU LET GO!” He yelled.

The shield managed to hit Watermelon Tourmaline right in the face, but in the process he pulled the lever for the arm at the same time and not only was the arm able to pull free from the whip, but the tweezers accidentally flung the red diamond into the air.

“NO!” George and Harold yelled when they saw what just happened. George quickly tried to throw the whip out to catch the diamond, but it was like trying to hit a fly with a stick and he missed.

The diamond fell to the ground and cracked perfectly in half on impact before the two halves flung into opposite directions and hit the ground.

“Oh no.” George voiced the fear he and Harold felt as a sinking feeling dropped in their stomaches.

“Ugh,” Watermelon Tourmaline got up and rubbed his face before noticing what happened to the gem. “Oh... well, I guess that’s just as good.” He shrugged. (Though it would have helped his cause if he was able to bring Red Quartz in alive).

“Oh no, oh no, oh no.” Harold shook his head and grabbed his hair as the robot moved its hand towards the broken halves of the diamond. If the diamond had shattered, and the only person who could fix it was now in bad shape, then–

Then to everyone’s shock both halves of the diamond started to glow.

“Wait, what?” Watermelon raised an eyebrow.

“WHAT?!” The zircon and sapphire yelled.

The images that began to form from the broken diamond halves were almost two exact copies of one another. And when they finished, they revealed two very unexpected figures. Both of whom should have been dead and gone.

For Benjamin, it was like waking up from a long sleep. He wasn’t able to register or remember much for a few moments as he held his head and tried to come to his senses. 

When he looked up, he thought he was seeing himself in a mirror in his Red Quartz form, who was also holding his head and trying to come to his senses.

What he was not expecting was for the mirror image to flinch away. “Red Diamond?!” The mirror image cried out.

“RED DIAMOND?!” Benjamin and his mirror image looked up as Watermelon Tourmaline turned pale pink with shock and nearly jumped out of his robot as he looked at Benjamin. Even though the diamond was dressed a little more causally than normal, and had a faint pink skin tone similar to Red Quartz’s own, there was no mistaking that it was the infamous, long believed to have been dead Red Diamond himself.

“What is going on?” Harold asked George. “You’re seeing this too, right? I’m seeing both–”

“I am.” George nodded as both Red Diamond and Red Quartz were finally face to face, with each persona having one half of the gem that they once had and now had once again.

“You’re–!” Benjamin’s eyes widened as he stared at his counterpart in confusion.

“But I thought you–!” Red Quartz stammered and pointed at his counterpart.

“HOW?!” Watermelon Tourmaline grabbed his hair. “YOU’VE BEEN ALIVE THIS WHOLE TIME?! HOW’S THAT POSSIBLE?! I THOUGHT QUARTZ SHATTERED YOU!”

“Yeah, how are you still alive?!” Red Quartz panicked. He distinctly remembered destroying the evil diamond’s gem in one punch, causing him to flicker out of existence the moment it shattered into fragments.

“Wh-what is–?” Benjamin stammered as he tried to make sense as to where he was. The last thing he remembered was looking at his newborn child and holding her before he gave up his–

Wait.

He looked at the half destroyed, now malformed gem in Red Quartz’s midsection before he looked at his own to see that it was in a similar state.

It was not supposed to look like that. And it wasn’t supposed to be a part of him anymore. In fact, he wasn’t supposed to still exist.

Alarmed, he turned around and the first thing he saw was George and Harold. Both were equally alarmed and horrified (once upon a time, he would have enjoyed seeing that look on their faces and had even longed for it) and they were standing beside a child of about six to eight years old. She was laying on the floor and grabbing her stomach which appeared to be bleeding as the blood stained her shirt and fingers. She was in a state between pain and fatigue, but she struggled to stay awake long enough to look back at him with eyes eerily similar to his own. For one crucial second Benjamin saw his wife in her features–the same freckles, same nose, and even her messy hair reminded him of Edith.

“Da...ddy?” Her voice was barely a wheeze.

George and Harold’s panic increased when they saw the realization in Benjamin’s eyes. When Watermelon Tourmaline noticed that the child was still present, he made a very horrible, stupid mistake on his behalf when he yelled:

“How is his disguise still present?! I thought it’d go away when I took the gem out!”

The deathly calm that fell was a moment of sheer terror for George and Harold.

The moment the zircon and the sapphire saw that the diamond figured out that the child was his own daughter and what had happened to her, they knew something horrible was about to happen.

The fire that began to erupt in Benjamin’s eyes was all too familiar to George and Harold, but they knew this was not the usual kind of anger he had–this kind was the one that was all too rare and far more terrifying. They watched as his body began to tense up and he turned towards the robot and the tourmaline inside it. His clueless other half was still completely lost, but even he saw that the diamond was about to do something unpleasant.

The diamond got up and his body began to flash with light and expand until a split second later a gigantic version of Red Diamond reached the robot and grabbed it. He was not quite at his original full height for some reason, but his form had regained its fire red hue–overcoming the almost human like pink skin tone that he had as Red Quartz and had kept when he originally shedded his original name for good.

They could only watch as Red Diamond tore into the robot. He punched at it and tore its parts off like a wild animal and even the way he was yelling sounded monstrous. The tourmaline inside the robot was screaming in fear for his life and tried to escape out of the robot, but the door was jammed and he couldn’t pull it free.

“Oh this isn’t good!” Harold pulled at his hair.

“Hey we got them all!” Rainbow Kyanite (the fusion of Bo the Bismuth and Gooch the Pink Tourmaline) managed to catch up to them while carrying the easily winded Melvin. Then they saw what was happening, they could only stare in shock.

“What do we do?!” Harold asked George.

“I don’t know, but we got to stop him!” George had no idea what would happen to Red Diamond while he was angry with only a broken gem, but it wasn’t going to be good. Both he and Harold didn’t see Red Quartz looking at Alexandra in confusion (she looked a little familiar to him, but unlike his other half he had no clue who she was or why she was hurt).

“Hey guys, what’s going on?!” The worried Red Quartz pleaded. “Why’s Red Diamond still alive?!”

“Not now!” George snapped as Harold readied his weapon. “Get Alexandra out of here!” He commanded to Rainbow Kyanite. “Melvin, we’ll need your help with this!”

“Right!” The fusion could only respond before letting go of Melvin and carefully picking up Alexandra before he hurried away as fast as possible. At the same time, George and Harold began their own fusion.

Meanwhile Red Diamond continued to viciously tear into the robot as he tried to get to the Watermelon Tourmaline. It had been so long since he felt such anger but this time it was so much worse and he barely registered anything else besides a buzzing in his head, the red in his vision, and the slight pain in his midsection. He didn’t notice his gem not only cracking a little or the angry white and orangish lightning like lines that were starting to flare up across his body.

Just when Red Diamond finally managed to brake the robot into a shapeless mess and was about to reach for the terrified Watermelon Tourmaline, Carnelian quickly grabbed his arm with all four of his arms.

“STOP!” The fusion of George and Harold yelled. While he was taller than the young gems, he was still shorter than the giant Red Diamond to the point that it was like a child trying to stop an adult.

“DON’T STOP ME!” Red Diamond screamed at them, with fangs for teeth and eyes burning an anger. He was oblivious to the beginning of a corruption slowly spreading from his gem–the lines creeping across his stomach and up his arms as he tried to pull free. When he finally managed to knock Carnelian away, he was soon met with a giant yo-yo that wrapped around his body and pinned his arms against his sides.

Melvin readied his arm canon as Red Quartz watched on. He was alarmed at the hatred in Red Diamond’s face–too similar to his own–as the large gem roared and tried to pull free. Why was Red Diamond trying to attack Watermelon Tourmaline? Why was Carnelian trying to stop him?

While Red Diamond was too focused on struggling to get free and snarling at Carnelian, Melvin built up enough energy in his arm canon. The orange peridot took aim and a huge blast of energy struck the diamond in the chest. Without any protective covering to shield himself, the energy blast exploded and the large gem bursted into light.

This time Carnelian was able to catch the broken diamond when it fell and he made sure to quickly bubble it.

Carnelian let out a huge sigh as Watermelon Tourmaline scrambled to get out of the wreckage of his robot. When he was able to pull himself free, he tried to escape, only to find himself hoisted up into the air by Red Quartz himself.

“I don’t know what’s going on, but you must have something to do with this.” Red Quartz frowned at the short gem.

“Me?!” Watermelon Tourmaline spat. “What about you?! Why was Red Diamond fused with you?! Why did he attack me?! Why–?!”

The Watermelon Tourmaline was shot by another blast from Melvin’s canon. He reverted back into his gem form, which fell to the floor, but unlike the red diamond, it didn’t shatter.

“I’ll take that, thank you.” Melvin grabbed the tourmaline and bubbled it as he resumed his usual air of arrogance as a way to mask his own confusion. Red Quartz stared at him, wondering why a gem that normally allied with Watermelon Tourmaline was helping George and Harold instead.

Carnelian unfused and George and Harold reappeared while holding the bubble that contained Benjamin’s half of the gem. It already had a few cracks on it from his rampage on Watermelon Tourmaline.

“What do we do now?” Harold asked, knowing full well that letting Benjamin reform anytime soon would be a bad idea. (He knew what both he and George were in for the next time they’d see him again).

“I honestly don’t know.” George admitted.

“Guys?” The two looked up to see Red Quartz. He gave them a shaky wave before asking “Can you tell me what’s going on now?”

Vulnerable

Three words.

Steven almost can’t believe it. Three little words, and the intergalactic conflict he‘d been training his whole childhood to defend against was over.

“What’s your excuse?”

Any last fragment of resolve White might have had crumpled after that sass-filled retort.

Minutes later, she’s still sitting in a daze on the floor, her silver flecked irises clouded with an ample dose of bemusement and confusion as Garnet and the others fill her in on the corruption situation back on Earth. Blue and Yellow seem to be listening in as well, flanking her at each shoulder. It’s a sight probably none of the Crystal Gems ever thought to behold— rebels and diamonds, speaking peacefully side by side.

Steven sighs, his palm’s grasp instinctively tightening over the diamond in his belly. The thin layer of cotton between his calloused fingertips and the glossy surface of his gem no longer seems protective enough. He’s not sure anything will again. Absentmindedly nibbling at the inside of his cheek, he drags his knees closer to his chest, wrapping his arms around his body. His... frail, vulnerable, half-human body. Part of him really wants to join the rest of his family, to help explain to the Diamonds how they can heal all the corrupted Gems, but...

Pointed talons clutch at the edges of his gem, digging into soft flesh with a knife-like precision. He can only manage stilted, shallow gasps in the visceral shock of it all, hot, fat tears staining his cheeks as an unbearable pain blossoms from his center like a thicket of thorns that’s entombing him from the inside out. Below, Connie screams in desperation, but she may as well be a galaxy away. White gives one final tug. In but a heartbeat he feels himself unravel, and everything goes black.

...quite honestly, he feels safer sitting a healthy distance away, back against the wall. Inhaling until his lungs are filled to the brim, he allows himself exactly one last hatred-filled glare at the Gem who almost killed him before shoving all that messy, ugly emotion deep away where he’ll hopefully never have to deal with it again. Hate’s a strong feeling, and it’s definitely not what the corrupted Gems need right now. It’s not what anyone needs.

“Hey,” Connie says, and slides down the wall to sit next to him. Geeze, he’s probably never seen her with such deep eye bags before. My fault, he thinks briefly, before promptly shaking those tendrils of guilt away. No... Pink’s gone. He’s not his mom. He didn’t cause any of this. For once, what she’s stressed about isn’t his fault at all.

“Hey,” he murmurs, burying his face deeper between his knees. “I’m—“ tense fingers grip at the denim of his jeans as he tries not to think too hard about Pearl, white as ivory, Connie trapped and helpless within her hold— “I’m sorry you had to go through all that. Are you doin’ okay now?”

Her eyes widen in unquestionable bemusement.

“Steven, I’m- everyone should be asking you that!” she exclaims softly, and clutches at his shoulders. “Y-you... you almost...”

Her quivering words die out as she fails to stifle a sob. Tears budding, she throws her arms entirely around him. His body automatically stiffens in response, and for a lighting hot flash of a moment he resents himself for reacting this way when it’s just Connie, just a friend, calm down, Universe, you’re fine... you’re safe, of course she’s not going to—

“I- I really, really thought I was gonna lose you,” she blubbers into his chest, her tears staining the star over his heart. He relaxes into her hold. “You... y-you were so cold, an’, an’ so unfocused, and...”

“I thought I was gonna lose you, too,” he whispers hoarsely, holding her tight as if she might blow away at any second. “White, she... she made Pearl capture you, she could’ve done anything to you, she—“

“I’m still here,” she says, voice thick. “I’m okay. We…”

She pauses in the midst of her reassurance, either lost for words or reacting to the sudden sound of White's booming voice as she asks Garnet a question from across the room. The nightmare may be over, but the hurt...

He's not sure the hurt will ever go away.

Regardless, Connie nestles her dampened cheek against his. “We’re okay now," she promises. "I've got you."

“This is another reason most of future lost rights” May we hear your thoughts?

Now that I have officially finished watching the original Steven Universe series, I have many Thoughts about the continuation. Prepare for some detailed salty takes.

-- My biggest gripe is that Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst lose pretty much all of the emotional intelligence they gain in the original series to maximize Steven’s suffering.

So like the gifset that prompted this ask for example, where Garnet realizes she’s hurt Steven with her future vision and apologizes? Makes her reaction in Future to realizing she hurt Steven again OOC. The OG series also teaches us and Steven that Garnet can’t see definites, because there’s so many possibilities, and the future’s always changing, and the future can always be changed. So her line about how there was no universe where Steven didn’t propose to Connie as her reason for why she didn’t try to stop him, is bullshit.

The Volleyball episode gives away that Steven is clearly not OK, and Pearl does nothing about it. Neurotic, mother hen, let’s make a plan Pearl does not ask Steven if he’s alright and makes 0 plans to train him to control his new alarming powers. Pearl, who now has a better sense of how trauma works because she has it herself, who we have seen in the OG series suspect Steven is dealing with some post traumatic stress after being taken to Homeworld and reach out to him about it, does not in Future reach out to him after he expresses blatant distress over having to deal with more of his mom’s problems. I’m supposed to believe this? Seriously?

And Amethyst? I think she’s the most obvious offender since a big part of her arc in the end of the OG series is emotional maturity.There’s a whole episode dedicated to her putting Steven’s feelings first. Acknowledging the pressure he’s been under and the shit that’s been dumped on him for years and the horror of finding out Rose was a Diamond which makes him a Diamond and recognizing that he’s not OK. He can’t be. Learning that Steven deals by distracting himself with other tasks and people. But sure when Amethyst notices Steven throwing himself into his work in Future, her response is just “When did you become such a prick?” Yeah. Totally sounds right.

There is a whole arc about these two emotionally connecting through their insecurities and the strength they find in having each other to relate to and rely on and confide in. It is one of my favorites in the entire story. And it is totally thrown out a window in Future. If no one else you’d think at least Amethyst would reach out to Steven in Future before he spirals, but no.

Literally it’s like the entire Gem trio’s emotionally sent back to square 1 and their perception’s lowered to 0, which is lower than it was to begin with, because it was the only way Future could work. Seriously, after Prickly Pair nobody tries to talk to Steven? Nobody insists they need to talk about what the fuck just happened? Nobody goes after Steven when he runs away, twice?! Once after crashing the van with his dad inside, in which he disappears for 3 whole days. Another time after talking about how they can’t help him anymore, which is really alarming! Then they all just let Steven go when he returns from Homeworld glowing with Diamond pupils?! are you kidding me, are you fUcking KidDing me am I supposed to believe they’re even his friends in Future what the fuck I hate this 

-- And framing everything like the Gems have never been there for Steven? Hate that too. There’s countless episodes in the OG series proving that’s not true. Steven himself says it’s not. At one point that’s what keeps him from literally falling from the sky.

“I just need something that makes me happy, something I can always depend on to cheer me up. My guys. They spent all night out here just to keep me company. No matter how much I mess up they’ll be there to help me.”

It’s the biggest reason why the Gems are foils to the Diamonds!

“Remember back when I was little and maybe kind of annoying, and I couldn’t come along on adventures? You guys would still drop everything to hang out with me.”

Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst begin kind of oblivious and inattentive, but they don’t stay that way. They are always learning, and apologizing, and changing when they realize their behavior is harmful. To themselves, to the team as a whole, to strangers, to Steven. They do very early in the series start setting work aside to spend time with him. Together breakfast (which ends up meaning so much to Garnet that it becomes her wedding cake), mini golf, cards, board games, movies, the arcade, the amusement park. They’re Steven’s band in beach-a-palooza. They become, not only better caretakers, but his friends.

A team. For the main Crystal Gem quartet so much of the show is about them learning to become a team by learning to understand each other and helping each other grow, leading to a stunning display of teamwork in the finale with Garnet, Pearl, Amethyst, and Steven all fusing together into one kickass warrior, Obsidian. It’s so perfect that this didn’t, couldn’t, happen until the end, after all that development. It’s so satisfying.

-- Like I mentioned before, there’s no reason why the Gems, including the others like Peridot, Lapis, and Bismuth, wouldn’t try to help Steven learn to control his new powers in Future.

-- A lot of the, uh, conflicts Steven faces in Future also feel ignorant to the OG series.

Steven in future: i just feel like i can’t make mistakes in front of you guys and cant be honest cause its mean and i have to be nice and perfect :(

Steven in og series: oh geez I really messed up sorry guys; [feels like the worst Crystal Gem cause he’s always fucking up]; (Garnet: You’re making Pearl very upset) “IM very upset!“; “What Rose wanted--ARGH! What about what I want?! I’m sick of you always lying to me!”; “Home’s been awful! Here’s been awful! Everyone’s been acting awful too!”

Steven in future: idk how to be a friend to someone who’s not a miserable sad sack with no direction in life

What was the point of all the townie episodes if we’re going to act like Steven never connected with the human part of his life why would the og show bounce between gem eps and human eps if not to show how Steven connects with both worlds ad’g;ajfgjfagjLAFKJS

Steven in future: why didn’t my meddling advice work? this has never happened before. am i losing my touch. who am i

Og Steven, multiple times: aaAAAAAH I SHOULD NOT HAVE MEDDLED AND PUSHED I MADE THINGS WORSE

- Why wasn’t Mindful Education revisited? Steven’s a fusion technically, right, so if he’s feeling, you know, deeply conflicted about his 2 halves, doesn’t that mean he’s out of harmony? There’s a way for 2 halves of a fusion to communicate through meditation and address what’s causing the imbalance, but I guess that would’ve solved Steven’s problem too easily. That’s the only reason Connie’s kept out of Future for so long too, right? Ugh. Never mind the fact that Mindful Ed taught Steven that it’s really important to face upsetting thoughts and feelings and traumas before they tear him apart. But whatever! what ever

- God this isn’t even half of the issues I now have with Future, but I don’t want this post to be 8 miles longer than it already is. Basically I feel like Future does a disservice to the characters and story being told in the original series, which I am very fond of now. It reminds me of an OOC fanfiction. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

TFA Fan-Headcanon & Theory: Megatron Has Five Kids!

I had just realized this, I think it might of been yesterday or somewhere around this month probably....

that besides Soundwave from TFA, technically being Megatron’s son...

and also realizing that Sari is Soundwave’s big sister, because of the whole Sari’s Protoform self having been born in the lab that Megatron’s Head was being kept, I don’t even think her human dad, Isaac Sumdac, had put two and two together that her protoform self was born in that lab because of Megatron, who was possibly in a coma and not really offline, the allspark-key had possibly brought him out of the coma and if it didn’t and if he went a few more cycles without his body, then yeah, he would of went offline for good.

while Cybertronians can live with their head and bodies separated for maybe like 50 years in Earth Years, but there could still be a time limit on how long they can go without being put back together, like how Steven could of went for so long without being fused back together, while it seem that without the two halves being whole, does seem to make the human half (who might still be made up of some stuff that makes a Gem, and he could turn out to be bio-synth, that makes him part organic and part synthetic.) does become really sick and weak without his gem half aka his “brother” who I still like to view Pink-Steven being a fragment from Rose, who in a Fanon Timeline, didn’t really give up her form, but made a new Pink Diamond that would become Steven,

when she fragmented a part of herself, she placed that fragment (that had copies of her memories as well as the Pink Diamond I who made her to take over the job of running Earth while she ran off to a far off galaxy where White, Yellow and Blue hadn’t conquered yet, so she can make gem colonizes there instead...) into the newly created pink diamond, it the fragment had split into two.

one fragment stayed in the pink diamond while the other half went into the organic half, and unlike Steven, the human half, Pink-Steven may know that Rose hadn’t given up her physical form, and like the Original Pink, had ran away...

(I will go back to talking about the TFA Fan-Headcanon and Theory about Megatron having Five Kids, after I talk a bit about Steven Universe...) 

I like the idea of Rose being fully separate from Pink, but while still being Pink, but not the one that White, Yellow, Blue, Pink-Pearl and Spinel knew.

cause the one they knew, was Pink Diamond I, while Rose was made by that Pink, as Pink Diamond II, and Steven is Pink Diamond III.

even Pearl might of not known or if she did, she was promise to never speak of it again and never to tell anyone the truth, that the original Pink Diamond, had created a body double to take on all the responsibilities of colonizing Earth, while she ran off to make a colony as far away from White, Yellow and Blue as possible.

it could be possible that while Rose didn’t know that by making Gems on Earth, was hurting the planet, it could be possible that her predecessor did know of this, but chose not to keep Rose/Pink II in the dark.

even if White knew that Pink was Rose and vice-versa, she might of found out by accident when Rose was on homeworld, and she was in her room (that use to be Pink Diamond I’s room.) and she was switching between forms, and coming up with a plan and kind of talking to herself, like Pink talking to Rose, and Rose talking to Pink.

anyway, when Pearl was talking about how Spinel was Pink’s Playmate, in the Fanon Timeline, she could been talking about the Original Pink, and not the one who would become Rose and when she poof she would permanently make the Rose Quartz disguise into her new true form.

Pearl fell in love with Pink II aka “Rose” and not the one that Pink-Pearl was making excuses for...

both Pink Diamonds had destructive powers, but only the one who became Rose had changed into a healer, but Pearl couldn’t say that and still had to act like both her and Pink-Pearl were talking about the same gem.

Rose could of still did some bad stuff, even if she didn’t mean to, but I guess it is still nice to think about her not being the Pink that had hurt Pink-Pearl and Spinel, and it was some predecessor who had made Rose to be her body double and gave all the responsibility of making the gem colony on Earth to her, while she ran off and made many gem colonizes on other planets as far away from White, Yellow and Blue as possible...

anyway, as for the whole Gem Half and Human Half of Steven being separated, and yeah if any of the halves had to become Sans The Skeleton of Undertale, it would be the Human half...

but yeah, even if the human half does become weak and sick when not together with his gem half, it is possibly more than that...

like there is a time limit on how long they can stay separated, and if they aren’t back together before the time limit is up, Steven, the human half, will die.

so in theory if the two hadn’t fused back together before White had her tantrum, the human half of Steven would of been gone.

unlike half-human & half-gem hybrids, Cybertronians have a much longer time limit, but it would still be short compared to a thousand years...

so if the allspark didn’t change Sari’s key into a allspark-key, and she didn’t use it and accidentally bring Megatron out of his possible coma, he would of been gone by the next year, maybe like on Sari’s 9th birthday.

so anyway I had just realized, that Megatron isn’t just the Dad and Mentor to Soundwave in the TFA Timeline....

but he is also the Dad of The Dinbots: Grimlock, Swoop and Snarl.

which by the way, when I did do a fan art of Older Sari and it had Snarl in it, along with other characters as possible crushes of Sari’s, I had NOT come to that realization yet, that Snarl is technically Sari’s brother. XD

well given that Isaac did make them first, and Megatron had remade the Dinobots, he would still technically be those three’s Other Parent...

I’m still going to view Megatron as Sari’s Mom and Other Dad, because it is obvious that the newborn protoform that was the size of a human baby and was a liquid metal body, didn’t just pop out of nowhere or from a space or ground bridge, that newborn protoform came from Megatron.

and if there was any proof, I would say it would be in the security cameras.

like all of the sudden, Megatron starts to look like he’s melting because this liquid metal stuff is forming on him and then the liquid metal starts to move on it’s own and jumps off of him and goes to the spot where Isaac would find it,

and it would end up forming into a small newborn protoform, and even has a mini-stasis pod for them to be held in.

so while Sari’s Brothers (Grimlock, Swoop, Snarl and Soundwave), were made by Megatron in another way, she is technically his first born, and would be his only daughter.

Grimlock, Swoop and Snarl might still be technically older than both Sari and Soundwave, because of how their original selves were made before Megatron had remade them and had been part of their rebirth.

Ratchet might be viewed as the Other Mentor of the Dinobots, and the Allspark-Key could be viewed as the “Mom” maybe...?

well the Allspark is technically the Mother of All Cybertronians, and it doesn’t help that some versions of Optimus, like from the Live-Action Movie Universe as well as the Earthspark (which are both great movies and shows by the way, you know the live-action is a great movie series and the Earthspark is a great show.), he has to end up being disrespectful to the Allspark.  

and once again, Megatron shouldn’t be made to be the scapegoat when he isn’t the one truly at fault.

the Allspark could be the Feminine Half of Primus, and Primus himself is the Masculine Half.....

plus who’s to say that the Allspark was made from Primus, and not a Goddess Cybertronian who ended up in the Earth, and it could turn out in Transformers Prime, it wasn’t  Unicron in the planet, but a Femme Goddess who was infected by the dark energon that was brought to Earth, only when Unicron was defeated, did the unknown Femme Cybertronian Goddess got her body, mind and spark back to normal.

and the same could be said for in the Live-Action Timeline...

plus if there was a very giant size femme in the Earth in Transformers: Earthspark, I’m still going to view the Terran’s have more than one Mom.

one of them being their adoptive mother Dot, and the other being Earth, and I guess a Femme Goddess who has become one with the planet Earth.

she cannot leave where she is (because it might harm the Earth and all those who live on it.), but she could probably make a type of holo-matter proxy type body, so she can interact with her Terran Children.

even if such a character might not appear in the show, I’m going to view it as fan-headcanon.          

 and yeah one of my weird ideas, is that the Megatron from Transformers Prime, might of once been Solus Prime or at least a Femme who was named after Solus Prime, but is only called Solus or Sol for short, before reformatting into what he is now, and living among the lower class and finding out how bad things are on Cybertron, which that makes me view it being like Pink becoming Rose in Steven Universe, well I do view the TFA Autobots being like the Homeworld Gems from Steven Universe, and the TFA Decepticons aren’t truly the bad guys, and both the TFA Decepticons and Optimus’s Team in TFA, are technically the Crystal Gems of that Universe and Timeline.  

and if it were true that Megatron from TFP had originally been a Femme who was named after Solus Prime, and was part of the rich and high ranking class, I would imagine he wouldn’t want to let anyone to find this out.

and would possibly only trust those who can keep it secret, like Soundwave from Transformers Prime.

Solus II could been part of the Council before she went “missing”, and before becoming Megatron, they had no idea how corrupt the Council or the Caste System was until trying to live as a Mech with no name (but would later be given a new name...) and fighting as a gladiator, did they find out how bad things are.

like at first Megatron could of still been able to go back to being Solus II, but after seeing how corrupt the Council was and even them showing favoritism to Optimus...

Megatron reformatted himself and no longer went back to being the Femme that was named after Solus Prime, he was Megatron now.

if this idea were canon, it would be one of the few versions of Megatron, who had originally been a Femme and had been named after Solus Prime before changing their name to Megatron.

anyway, not everyone has to agree to this, but I still think that Megatron from TFA, would not only be Soundwave’s Dad, but also the Dad of Sari, Grimlock, Swoop and Snarl...

which means that Megatron has Five Kids, and he might only think he made four, but he did have a part in Sari being born in a lab, well her newborn protoform self, that has his CNA.

even if Sari’s human half, is thanks to her human dad, her cybertronian half would be from Megatron, so DNA comes from Isaac, while the CNA comes from Megatron.

but because they never said it was that way in the show, and it’s too bad they didn’t try to make another season in the show that would prove that Sari is Megatron’s daughter as well...

we just have to go with fans knowing it is possibly true and Megatron has not figured out that Sari is his daughter, not just Isaac’s.

Isaac would be both Sari’s adoptive parent as well as biological parent, because of the DNA that the newborn protoform had absorbed.

but given that he was wearing a rubber glove, I still have doubts that he is the only human parent of Sari, because of the whole red hair thing...

like it could turn out when he was shocked, a small piece of strands of hair came off of either his head or mustache and got on to the protoform, but it wasn’t enough for the newborn protoform to absorb and scan and they needed more.

and if anyone had to be working at Sumdac Tower and saw Isaac on the floor out cold, it would be Marissa Faireborn, who has Red Hair...

so yeah my crazy and weird fan headcanon and theory is...

is that Marissa Faireborn who hadn’t really been in the show, but could of been at Sumdac Tower, could of not been wearing gloves when she had found Isaac, and the liquid metal body in the same room.

when Marissa touched the newborn protoform, it was able to get more DNA and was able to mix both the small bit of DNA it got from Isaac and the other DNA that came from Marissa Faireborn, and yeah, just like Isaac, Marissa went out cold from the shock the protoform gave her.

but when both Isaac and Marissa came to, in the place of the protoform, was a small human baby girl.

so that would mean that Sari would have three parents, who are Megatron, Isaac Sumdac and Marissa Faireborn.

if they took a DNA Test as well as a CNA Test, they would probably find out that Isaac isn’t the only Human DNA that Sari had inherited, but she also got some other Human DNA from a Maternal Source, which could turn out to be Marissa Faireborn, and her CNA comes from Megatron.

it could turn out that Marissa, before she left, had help co-create the Dinobots with Isaac Sumdac (you know, before Megatron had remade them and ended up becoming their Mentor...)

so if that were true, that would mean Marissa would kind of be Grimlock, Swoop and Snarl’s Mom.

plus when Marissa left, Sari might of been still very young, and wouldn’t remember her Mom, so when Isaac was telling the story on how he found Sari, he left out some parts of the story, like one of them being that Marissa was involved.

the reason being is that Marissa was probably Isaac’s wife, who would of been Mrs Marissa Faireborn-Sumdac, but he could of got word that she had been K.I.A.

but it could turn out she was just abducted by the Quintessons or Vok.

Isaac could of probably knew that only some of his DNA, like from his hair had pop off of his head or mustache had got on the protoform, but not enough to make Sari into who she is now, so he probably knew that the red hair came from Marissa, his wife, who had been in Sumdac Tower and had found him unconscious and with a glowing liquid metal body that had absorbed some of his DNA, but didn’t have enough to fully transform into Sari, or become a techno-organic.

I still think that while Blackarachnia did become a Techno-Organic, and become cold sparked, it might still be possible she was always two-faced and had been two-sparking both Optimus and Sentinel, and always not 100% a good person.

and it might be possible that her become half-spider, might of been her karma.

once again, the word “two-sparking” is something I view as being “two-timing”

and if Elita-1 was seeing both Optimus and Sentinel, she likely made both promise not to tell the other and kept it secret, and she didn’t have trouble choosing between them, and wasn’t in emotional torture over it.

she likely did it for the fun and thrill of it, and not because she really loved them, even if she could of still cared for them as friends, but it wasn’t enough to consider she might be hurting them by two-sparking them without their knowledge.

so yeah, if it is true, then she got what she deserved, because what she was doing to those two, was going to bite her in the aft at some point, and it gave her the karma she finally got.

even if we might be made to view her as a victim and who Optimus left behind, even if he didn’t mean to...

but it isn’t Optimus or surprisingly Sentinel’s fault she became this way,

she became that way, because she was always that way, her personality, her true personality was always hidden behind a sweet and kind mask, but now that she became Blackarachnia, she no longer hid behind that mask, and her true self had become way worse over the time she was Blackarachnia.

not everyone has to agree about that theory, but I view it as possibly being true.

so it’s both my theory and fan headcanon, that the reason why Elita-1 became Blackarachnia wasn’t just a accident, it was karma punishing Elita-1 for not just two-sparking both Mechs who were suppose to be her teammates and friends,

but also possibly some other misdeeds she has done when she was Elita-1.

and anyway, I guess one of the theories could be that Blackarachnia was Sari’s Mom, but she was likely not on Earth yet when Sari was born, so that rules her out.

as well as Optimus and his Team, because they were under a lake and in stasis.

so that only leaves Megatron as the true Cybertronian Parent.

also I had realized that Sari is technically a Terran, like Twitch, Thrash, Hashtag, Jawbreaker and Nightshade are.

but slightly different, but Sari would still technically be Terran because she is a mix of being something from cybertronian and something from Earth, and that being from her human and cybertronian parents.

plus if you think about it, Soundwave from TFA is also technically Terran.

as well as any other Cybertronians born on Earth.

anyway Megatron being a Mentor and even a Parent who was not much involved with bringing up his five kids, is not really surprising, given that there are some real life parents who don’t even bother to visit their own kids more than just once, and could of did so much earlier and they could of still went back to their real family, even if the kid they visit is still technically their biological child as well...

Soundwave from TFA, could be seen as the “baby of the family” like being the baby brother of Sari and the Dinobots.

like can you picture Sari, who is in her Older Upgraded form, teasing Soundwave and calling him her “baby brother”...

and if TFP-Soundwave was part of TFA, he would likely be called Soundblaster (which is his other name.)

maybe Megatron could of based his son Soundwave, a little on Soundblaster, and he could of had some of his blue prints from Soundblaster, but made Soundwave outer appearance slightly different.

if Starscream can be viewed as Jetstorm and Jetfire’s Parent, as well as Skyfire being the Other parent of those Jet-Twins...

then there could be a Soundblaster in TFA (even if it would be in a Fanon Timeline version of it), who Megatron based most of Soundwave’s creation on...

anyway in TFA, Megatron was responsible for creating Soundwave, which did make him both the Dad and Mentor, but if you think about how he was involved in remaking and upgrading the Dinobots, and how he unknowingly brought Sari into the world in a lab, and her newborn protoform self was found by Isaac, and she would end up becoming the first techno-organic terran human in the canon...

this would still point out that Megatron is technically the father of five, three of which he kind of helped make “reborn” into what they are now...of course I’m talking about the Dinobots.

the only kid he doesn’t have a clue is his, would be Sari.

and who knows if there will ever be a canon crossover, that would finally reveal that big secret that all fans (well maybe only some who have watched TFA and started to put two and two together...) have known all this time, that Sari didn’t just appear in Isaac’s lab, she was born there, and Megatron was in that very same lab.

so Sari being a protoform that was born on Earth, and ended up absorbing human DNA and becoming half-cybertronian and half-human, that would make her a Terran, and I’m viewing that as Headcanon.

I wonder if other fans of TFA, would end up viewing Megatron as a father and mentor of five...

and with how Lugnut is, he would likely be very happy that Megatron had more than one offspring.

like even if the relationship between Sari and Soundwave didn’t start out good,

but after finding out they are technically siblings.

maybe Soundwave could end up acting like the protective brother type, along with Grimlock, Swoop and Snarl.

like any boy, either it be a human or cybertronian, even tries to flirt with their sister, they could end up becoming very protective.

which could embarrass Sari, and she could be glad that Megatron isn’t doing that, well not to her knowledge anyway...XD

Steven Universe is A Fusion (Misleading Title)

To those who argue that “Steven is not a Fusion” from my previous post, here is my thought process.

I agree that Steven is not a Fusion in the traditional Gem sense.

Yes, I understand that Pink Diamond no longer exists.

Yes, I’ve seen “Change Your Mind”. I saw what happened when White Diamond ripped out Steven’s gem. (Note how I said Steven’s gem.)

Yes, I’ve seen Pink Steven.

Yes, I’ve seen how Steven has been struggling for several seasons from an identity crisis because of this very idea.

And no, I don’t believe that Pink Diamond is still inside of Steven’s gemstone, waiting for the right opportunity to appear.

I know that, as Steven has eloquently put it...

She’s gone.

Now, is he what we’ve seen to be a typical Gem application to a Fusion? No. As of “Change Your Mind”, we’ve had definitive proof that both halves of Steven are entirely Steven-based. He is not a Fusion of Pink Diamond and Steven.

However... Steven, fundamentally, is still a Fusion.

He was created through a combined effort of two beings. His mother and his father.

Rose couldn’t create Steven on her own.

Greg couldn’t create Steven on his own.

The definition of Fusion is “The process or result of joining two or more things together to form a single entity.”

I think we can all agree that Steven is not, in any way, what is considered “traditional” to Gem society. He is the first of his kind. A hybrid. A combination of two different elements to create Something Entirely New. The bridge between two worlds. Gem and Human.

A... Fusion.

If you need other points of evidence, Rebecca Sugar’s “Guide to the Crystal Gems” has a portion (Pages 18 - 19: “How Is It Possible?!”) where the Crystal Gems explain Steven and how he can exist despite being half-Gem and half-Human.

Garnet: “Not unlike a Fusion, Rose disappeared to create an entirely new being, with all of her self integrated into half of his self. Steven is, in essence, a Fusion of love, like me!”

It may not be what we’ve been taught is a conventional example of Fusion from the show, but it is, basically, what Steven is.

That is what I mean when I say that Steven is a Fusion.
