-GB is the kind of guy to order a red eye (hot or iced depending on weather) and then complain mildly it doesn’t taste that great (except if Dinah adds a pinch of milk)

-Espresso just drinks straight up espresso. Gets a full eight ounce cup of espresso and barely feels energized. He considers it a normal breakfast drink.

-Coco likes flat whites and gets offended how they come in more than one size in America.

-CB (all cabeese actually) always orders something sweet with espresso shots. Tips very politely.

Any Pearl headcanons?

Pearlie!!! My girl! (Going off the assumption you're looking for pre-update Pearl hcs)

She's a smart girl but got underestimated so much growing up and she hated it. Was the youngest passenger car in her yard which meant that the other trains, young or old, always assumed they knew more than her.

Tripped so much on her wheels as a kid, she's a bit of a tall coach and has always had pretty lengthy legs, it took her a bit of time to get used to it.

Big big curly hair!! I'm such a fan of the few pre-update Pearl wigs that were both pink and extremely curly/fluffy they were so good, it suits her incredibly well.

Very sure of herself, but also a bit indecisive when it comes to big decisions. Anytime she's faced with a major choice she struggles to pick, not because she's finicky or doesn't know what she wants, but because there's just too many choices most of the time and all of them could work out right, how does anyone expect her to choose!

Didn't grow up around any other canon trains actually. She only met Buffy, Dinah, and Ashley when she was a teenager and didn't properly become acquainted with Rusty until she was a young adult. So she actually doesn't know the others as well as most do because she just. Never ran into them.

Like how I hc all other trains with unnatural hair colors: Pearl's hair has been pink from the day she was born, she doesn't need to dye it.

Loves to sing in her free time, whether she's doing chores or just out walking, she's usually singing or humming a tune. She has a very wonderful singing voice as well.

She knows how to sew! Her grandma taught her and it's been a hobby that she's kept up with since. She actually sewed her own skirt!

Incredibly physically affectionate, something she looks for in romantic partners is someone who isn't afraid to hug and cuddle quite a bit, in all honesty she's a little touch starved. One of the biggest reasons she was drawn to racing with Greaseball was that she knew he was also pretty big on physical affection and figured that it wouldn't hurt to see if there was something there.

Pearl had turned Rusty away the first few times because while she did feel something with him and thought his determination was very sweet, she felt like accepting to go with him was too sudden even with her preference in steam trains, she wanted to at least try to talk to some other trains if she was going to walk away from this race holding hands with someone. How will she know if Rusty is the one if she doesn't talk to other people and see if they have anything to offer? She also wanted to make sure that any relationship she got into was by her choice.

Even though she's a wonderful singer, she's a less than graceful dancer. She relies heavily on any dance partners she might have to assist her somewhat because her solo moves aren't the greatest.

Stex: The Nationals

Turnov: A very loud and and brash engine. He has an alcohol problem and a reputation for getting up to all sorts of crazy things while drunk. He once got black out drunk and had a one night stand with CoCo which he is rather embarrassed by because they don’t usually get along. He has also purposed to Rusty several times while drunk.

Brexit: A bit fastidious and snobbish. He is rather serious and straight-laced and very gay. He has a huge crush on both Ruhrgold and Espresso but he won’t admit that, even on pain of death.

Nintendo: A trans gamer who likes to present himself as quite serious and intense but is in actuality is rather shy and generally chill.

BoBo: An arrogant playboy type. He is related to CoCo and the two are the most intense rivals. He loves to bring up her history with Turnov because of how much it riles her up.

CoCo: A serious perfectionist and a total lightweight when in comes to strong drink. She once got black out drunk and had a one night stand with Turnov. She is extremely annoyed whenever anyone brings this up. She is related to BoBo and the two are the most intense rivals.

Espresso: Very bold and confidant engine. He knows he’s the best looking engine around and loves to flirt with anyone regardless of gender. He is aware of Brexit’s crush on him and likes to flirt just enough to rile him up but not reveal that he knows.

Ruhrgold: A very serious and disciplined engine. He expects a certain level of luxury as his status as a racer and is a big believer in that expanse should equal quality which should equal success. If things don’t go well he blames it on cheep components. He is often heard to say “*thing* wouldn’t have happened if they had just bought German! German Engineering is the Best!” He and Espresso have had an on-again off-again relationship for years on the down low.

Stex Christmas headcanons!

Instead of the birth of Jesus they celebrate the starlight express and what it means to them

Dinah, Buffy and Belle prepare most of the food and drink, because they are food cars

Pearl usually likes to appoint herself head of decorations, but this year Volta has joined her and Joule helped with the lights

The freight all open presents together in Poppas living room

Poppa is more religious than most and so the freight normally have a moment of prayer in the morning

Everyone meets at the yard hall to have Christmas Dinner

They exchange gifts at the dinner, some people (mostly just the coaches) get a thoughtful gift for every train in the yard, whilst others give one to a special few people

They spend the afternoon carol singing, and the coaches like to sing a more complicated song such as hark how the bells with harmony.

To end the day, they all go for drinks at Belle's bar

The freight like to have a sleep pile at night :)

-this is mostly based off how the wiki said he was the most "punk" out of the freights or something like that but he went through a punk phase!! He eventually grew out of it though so now all his old stuff just sits at the back of his closet or in boxes collecting dust

Starlight Express Headcanons Part 4 - Pride Edition!

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH TO THE GAYS, THE THEYS, THE THEMS, AND THE HERS! I haven’t done some of these in a while so have some pride-related headcanons! - There is hardly a straight bone, wire or cog in the AV Trainyard. Like at all. Poppa is the straightest trainfolk there but who knows what he got up to during his prime young years that he won’t admit to lmao

- The majority of the Trainyard is Bi. 

- The AV Trainyard loves celebrating pride. Dinah and Buffy will spend the month making special food like pride-flag cupcakes and milkshakes, flags get hung outside of sheds, pins get attached to work uniforms and gear with flags and pronouns, everything. Volta and Purse will even dip-dye folks’ hair or parts of their hair in the colours of their respective identity, and Joule and Charge will drag out the fireworks (regardless of whether Wrench has approved of them doing so or not lmao). Everybody just really loves being able to express themselves and be accepted on the Trainyard.

- Flat-Top and Dustin are Demisexual besties.

- Ashley and Buffy are lesbians who have been dating for 5 years. Buffy tried to convince herself she was straight for the longest time until she got too drunk at a party being held in the Trainyard and ended up confessing to Ashley.

- Everyone for the longest time was CERTAIN Greaseball was straight since he was only ever chasing Coaches, and then was dating Dinah for a while. That went COMPLETELY out the window when Electra showed up and now he’s an idiot bi who’s completely head over wheels.

- Rusty also thought he was straight for a while like his Poppa but that went out the window with Electra’s appearance too, and Rusty would be lying if he said he didn’t think the Electric was kinda pretty.

- Flat-Top was caught spraypainting a tunnel wall near the Trainyard shortly after the Championships, and everyone ended up joining him. Now every year Flat-Top finds a new area, and the Trainfolk spend the whole of June working together to spray-paint a pride mural together. It’s a big group project between everyone, Electrics included.

- Electric Trainfolk culture is full to the BRIM with pride. A lot of polyamorous relationships between Racers and Components, genderfluidness galore, and bi and pan flags all over the place.

More Starlight Express headcanons (Because, why not?)

Contrairly to what many rolling stock think, Espresso is not CoCo's other biological parent. Before getting together with Espresso, BoBo was in a relationship with a blue Nez Cassé named Tavernier, and they seemed to be an happy couple. However, their relationship was short-lived, and they ended up breaking up after the Championship. At that time, BoBo found out to be 2 months pregnant with Tavernier's unborn trainlet, but he never told him; he later ended up in a happier and healtier relationship with Espresso, and 7 months after, baby CoCo was born.

Flat-Top often uses his pet brick Brick as a teddy bear when sleeping, or rubber duck/sponge when he (rarely) bathes.

Speaking of which, any time monthly freight bathing day comes, Flat-Top "disappears" and the whole trainyard goes looking for him while carrying sponges, buckets full of water, soap and waterguns. Control was in the search party once, and even managed to find Flat-Top; the chasing that followed ended with Control falling face-first into a puddle of mud, and Flat-Top escaping to his shed, where he locked himself in for the 3 days that followed.

Ashley the Smoking Car, Duvay the Sleeping Car and Brandy the Bar Car are half-sisters: Ashley and Brandy have the same mother (a lounge car), and Duvay and Ashley share the father (a wagon-lit).

OLC Red Caboose is CB and Canoose's dad; the mother is a dark blue boxcar named Barb (Canoose gets his purple color from her dark blue, and CB got his blond hair from her). They're currently divorced, and Barb lives in another trainyard located at the other side of the country.

Carioca the Brazilian Engine has 4 parrots as pets: Senhor Barulhento, Hoppy, Rowdy and Tico.

Momma, Poppa and Belle are in a poly relationship, and spend their time teaching to the Apollo-Victoria inhabitants, singing the blues and drinking the tea that Belle made.

The downhill race's crash left Greaseball with a month of balance problems and tinnitus; he also had to rely on Dinah's help when it came to fixing his eye-hand coordination.

Boris the Russian Engine (Mexico 1997) and Brexit the British Engine are in a relationship.

BoBo often calls Poppa "Grand Chef" (Big Boss); however, one day he had a slip of his tongue and called Poppa "Grand Schtroumpf" (Papa Smurf). Hilarity ensued from both sides.

Killerwatt (Post-2018 Bochum) is Krupp and Wrench's son. Zero (Post-2018 Bochum) is Volta's twin brother and is in a relationship with Purse.

YES!!!! CB MY BELOVED MY FAVORITE CRIME BOY!!!!

He's so short I'm sorry. Tiniest guy ever. Greaseball picks him up and carries him like sack of flour. He's just a little guy.

Actually bites as a fear reflex. Like not even in a "hehe feral gremlin" type manner, it's a genuine response for him if he's feeling unsafe. If you scare him and you're close enough he will bite you, even if it was an accident. Lucky for him trains are pretty tough and a nip from a caboose will hardly hurt them, much less leave marks. Unless he really means it that is.

His name wasn't originally CB, however nobody knows what his old name was, even he forgot. He started using cb radio codes when he was younger just to play around and send secret messages to other kids, they nicknamed him CB because of it, and he continued using those codes when he got older to secret message in a more devious manner, and well he liked the nickname so much he just made it his real name. You ask Rusty if he knows and he just says he only remembered calling CB "red caboose" before they started using CB as a nickname.

In all honesty, he did feel a small twinge of guilt when he crashed Rusty. The two of them had been friends for a very long time and even though he found humor in it and enjoyed crashing trains, he couldn't help but feel a bit bad for doing it to Rusty of all engines. Especially after he experienced being injured in a crash himself (although that crash was far more intense and harmful than what Rusty went through).

CB and Greaseball were pretty good friends before the championship, and they somehow ended up closer afterwards. Mainly because Greaseball felt pity for CB due to how injured he was.

Had a little bit of a crush on Electra, but he's put it off completely after the championship because he doesn't believe that Electra would ever want to talk to him again after everything that happened. He really hurt both Greaseball and Electra's reputations in that race.

Dinah is his BEST friend. CB loves her to death and he seeks a lot of comfort in her, talks about stuff to her that he hasn't told literally anyone else. It's why he chose to comfort her at the race when she and Greaseball had their falling out, he felt awful for her, and he wanted to return the kindness she'd shown him so many times before.

When Dustin would get sad when they were younger, CB would tell him jokes to cheer him up, and instead of actually SAYING "knock knock!" he would knock on his own shoulder because of the sound that his wood makes. Safe to say it was very effective.

Ok, but CB honestly caring about Dinah despite being a villain is honestly one of my favorite things. And the way There’s Me actually works with his character even after everything he does in the play. It aligns with his introduction of himself, suggests that he views his sabotages as him ‘helping’ by removing the competition. He really does care for Dinah, he means every word.

Just because everyone might no longer believe him after the fact doesn’t change his sincerity and genuine softness in this moment.

I've seen alot of takes on why Rusty is, well, rusty. Most go with that he was made of cheap materials, which is a good headcanon, but mine?

I think that Rusty almost drowned. Water makes metals rust, right? (I did in fact do a chemistry lesson on rust the other day but i hate chemistry with a passion so wasn't really listening)

But like - imagine how that could have happened. I've written a fanfic about this already, but there are so many ways that this could have played out.

- the Rockies pulling Rusty out of the water?

- Flat-Top holding his little brother as they realise his firebox has gone cold?

- Poppa and Belle working tirelessly to make him wake up?

new headcanons!

i developed some new headcanons after another week of watching stex live <3

Killerwatt is very nervous about his job, freaking out after anything goes wrong

BrandiBelle doesn't have much concern about actually helping Coco win the race and is just racing to have fun

Carrie and Ruhr become somewhat of an item after racing together and she introduces him to her friends (the coaches) because he's seen pulling all four of them before the end of act 1

I think Ruhr starts to take a liking to everyone in the yard, and becomes buddies with the Rockies, as he's seen pulling them in the for the Rap at the beginning of act 2!

The Rockies like to imitate others and are very playful!

Zero is selfish and goes after whatever he wants

Carrie - as evidenced by not caring when Rusty comes to interrupt Ich Bin Ich - doesn't mind letting a man take care of her as long as she knows and trusts him and he respects her. It's all on her terms though, of course. She also wouldn't have much of a problem letting men do favors for her even if she has no interest in them.

Killerwatt scans the faces all of Elektra's race partners so he can keep a brief profile of each of them in the system. BV is not happy about this after agreeing to help Elektra in Race 4.

By the way Carrie and BV interact with each other onstage, I believe they dated previously and are still really good friends.
