Oh thank you. Unfortunately Cordial Enemies is still on hiatus. Stargazing had surgery on her wrist and there ended up being complications and so she's still recovering and unable to type much.

Okay, so I know I’m late to the game (I’m late to everything), but I got into the Harry Potter fandom this year in a big way. While I read the books and watched the films when they came out, I’ve never been that into Harry Potter, but for whatever reason, I started reading Harry Potter fics in 2020, and then in 2021 discovered how much I like dramione, and here we are.

It’s actually kind of hard for me to read jonsa when I write jonsa. I find the banter and enemies-to-lovers or rivals-to-lovers vibe of dramione to be a nice palate cleanser after I’ve been writing too much jonsa angst. So here are my top 5 fics of 2021, in no particular order:

1. The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy by speechwriter

In my opinion, this is a better wrap up to the series than canon. Summary: The night that Harry and Dumbledore return from the cave, the Death Eaters are delayed from reaching the top of the Astronomy Tower for one more minute. Draco Malfoy lowers his wand. A Deathly Hallows rewrite in which Draco accepts Dumbledore's offer to fake his death and go into hiding with the Order of the Phoenix.

2. The Banality of Love by sandwich_tales

Summary: “The essence of totalitarian government, and perhaps the nature of every bureaucracy, is to make functionaries and mere cogs in the administrative machinery out of men, and thus to dehumanize them.“

After Voldemort wins over Wizarding Britain, Hermione emerges from hiding to undertake a dangerous mission for the now-decimated Order. Using a modified Polyjuice Potion, she adopts a new identity and begins working undercover at the Ministry of Magic, alongside Draco Malfoy.

3. In The Bleak Midwinter by TheLoud

A slowburn timetravel Hermione/Tom Riddle Sr. fic written in the style of a P.G. Wodehouse novel. You read that right. Tom Riddle Sr. I am so delighted by this story. It’s so well written and funny, and the concept is very original. Muggle Tom Riddle Sr. and his droll uppercrust parents take the wizarding world by storm, all while pretending not to be muggles with the help of a half-feral Hermione come back from the future determined to raise a Tom Riddle who is loved. Lots of great period details.

4. Cordial Enemies by senlinyu & Stargazing121

Laugh-out-loud funny dramione fic where they are work rivals at the ministry of magic. Expect lots of library references used as sexual innuendo.

5. One and Done by PacificRimbaud

Another extremely funny work romance fic. There is a particular scene that had my squirming in my seat with embarrasment and laughter. It’s also very well-written and has all the banter and quick-witted characters you could possibly need.

Hi! I read something on Twitter and would just rather ask you thank assume anything:

After finishing Let the Dark In, do you imagine you will be in the mood to continue writing Cordial Enemies, or is that not on the list of priorities in the future? Of course I mean in the future as in, after you take a break, since ltdi is already taking a lot of your time for now (I’m assuming). So I’m just asking curiously if you’re even considering finishing that one in the near future or if it will be a much longer while after ltdi – all love and respect from here 🫶🏼

Hey, I’ve gotten a couple inquiries lately. I don’t have a date on when cordial enemies will resume. @stargazing121 had to take a break for a while due to health and a surgery that prevented her from typing for a while, so she’s just recently resumed writing, but the process of writing Cordial Enemies is a fairly complicated one, we each take a character and live-write in the word document together while simultaneously dialoguing via chat. It’s not a collaboration that we can pass back and forth to work on as suits our individual schedules, and since we live in different continents, our time zones don’t entirely synchronize, and so windows of opportunity where we’re both available to write together are difficult to swing. When we first started writing, my schedule was different. So currently I’m short on time and don’t really have the bandwidth to add to the project back on. But it’s not abandoned. 🤞
