Posting this because I reblogged something about Usborne Books and apparently most people seem to associate Usborne with lift-the-flap books for preschoolers.

Which is weird because to me as a child Usborne books were some of the spookiest books I could get my hands on. They filled the same place as Dorling Kindersley - colorful, creative, informative books that were educational as well as fun to read. And their approach to myths and legends was, not going to lie, very formative for me. If it wasnt' for Usborne, there might not have been ABC.

And much like Dorling Kindersley, Usborne went through a phase of extreme creative experimentation before stagnating into safer forms of publishing. But for a while, Usborne books were mindblowing.

So what has Usborne done then that aren't lift-the-flap books for preschoolers? Well, a lot. Puzzle Adventures. Extreme map and code puzzles. How to Draw Books. Cut-out and build houses, Trojan horses, and dinosaurs (by Luis Rey no less). How to Be A Detective. Nature spotter's guides. Nature Search books. Facts and Lists books that instilled cosmic horror in me years before I knew what cosmic horror was. I could go on forever.

There was a series of excellent myths and legends books which I posted about before.

These were illustrated by Rodney Matthews and were every bit as metal as you'd expect from something by Rodney frickin' Matthews.

Then there were the Quest books which were Where's Waldo-esque books that followed a storyline in a fantasy world.

In this case, they showcased lush art by Nick Harris in which you find various items or characters to make the story progress, as well as other random things (find 10 rats, find 8 clownfishes, etc).

The Tabloid Histories books, oh my gosh.

Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Medieval, etc. history told through tabloid articles and ads.

More about monsters though! There were books about folktales and legends illustrated by Stephen Cartwright.

For me it was my first time hearing of a lot of them, such as the Lambton Worm!

The Haunted World, now that was spooky! With lots of colorful, dripping art by Graham Humphreys.

Introduced me to a lot of ghosts, vampires, and monsters from around the world. Such as the story of Arnold Paole!

And there were maps and diagrams...

... and lindorns [sic] and mokele-mbembes!

The Supernatural Guides had denser text but sadly have not been reprinted anytime recently.

The World of the Unknown series, though... ohohoho those were good.

Of course (no offense to fans of ghosts and UFOs), I had eyes only for the Monsters book. With such gems as the Velue...

... the Lambton Worm...

... and cryptozoological rubbish such as the Monongahela sea serpent (below), the Loch Ness Monster, the Abominable Snowman, and their ilk.

You know, the sort of thing that would keep a 7-year-old fascinated (and perhaps scared under the blankets) for weeks.

Anyway, yeah I just really love Usborne books. Or at least what they used to be.

Welcome To Sims3City!

They say if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere! Celebrities can be found wandering the shops and giving impromptu performances all over Sims3City. There's live show venues everywhere and it's easy to see why they say this city runs on dreams yet never sleeps!

I found this absolutely gorgeous map: Waterfall Beauty and just had to use it to make my own city world save! This map did come with lots already designated so I filled it up with the best townhouses, apartments, and city life buildings I could find or make to make my own version of a mashup of Starlight Shores and Bridgeport.

INTERESTING CHARACTERS

Every sim comes to Sims3City to make it big! With a performance venue on nearly every corner, you're sure to see:

The Warflowers - These twins started a band and pulled some of their reluctant friends into it. They know once they got here to The City, they would make it!

Chloe and Bob Katt - always on the hustle to make people believe in magic again!

The Myth family is here, of course, living in the spookiest house!

Mirage Sable always seems able to make everyone else's wishes come true, hoping one day her only one will, too!

Candice and Arthur finally made it to The City when Candice got her book deal. Arthur is hoping to make it into the celebrity chef business...with a little help from his friend and now roommate, Derek. This new relationship has a lot of challenges being thrown its way, but this couple is determined to make it here and everywhere!

The Vireowing Fairy Sisters not only have beautiful voices, they love to bestow inner and outer beauty on all of those around them. That's perfect in a city that values beauty!

As with anywhere, crime can be overwhelming in the city but H & H Private detective family, Harmony and Henry, are on the case!

This city is ALIVE! Along with all EA rabbitholes, you will find:

CHIPS Casino - a big show venue where you can see the greatest performers and play all games

Across the street, you will find another live show venue - The Locker -

where you can see more live performances. After that, dance the night away at Bubbleworks -

and keep the party going with the late night crew over at The Afterlife Vampire Lounge!

Don't worry about ghosts, though. A recreation of the firestation from the movie, Ghostbusters, is right next door so we ain't afraid of no ghosts! Next to that firestation and hospital emergency center, you will find the Anachronistic Art Gallery and City Hall rabbithole, with some mysterious things to explore in the basement!

In the more affluent area of the city is where you will find the Affluence Golf Club rec park and Tee Off! Sports Bar and Grill -

and some sweet treats at The Big Cheese bakery and shops!

In the center of town, you will find lots of fun for the kids at The Wise Owl Library next to the Aquarium Science Center and the Bright Beginnings Daycare and School center -

Stop by and get some sweet treats at The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor

and then get rid of all of that excess energy at the Big Rock Climbing Centre Gym or The Pac Man Public Pool next to the stadium rabbithole!

Don't forget to visit the Surf's Up Wave Garden at the beach right across the street or the seasonal festival grounds!

Downtown, you can get those extra strings at the DownTown Music Store, play some games at the Laserberry Arcade, and then head over to the Stardust Diner for some drinks and good times!

If you go at certain times of the day to catch a movie at Serena's Community Cinema, you might be able to see some of today's biggest stars working on set! You can pick up whatever you need at the big Sims 3 Market nearby and marvel at all of the old historical residential buildings before you head over to the Double Rainbow Disco Club for more dancing!

For those sims with a more exclusive taste, Club 112 in the historical section is the perfect lounge!

There's The Remaude Coffee Emporium Coffeehouse and Elixir Of Life Coffeehouse and shops for more live venues and fun in Sims3City!

After all of that excitement, the city folks like to visit the Stone Troll Mill Fishing Pond to unwind and maybe catch some dinner if they're lucky!

I have all expansions, stuff packs, and store content so most of it is probably used in this save. If you do not have the item, the game should generate a similar item. The only expansion not used is PETS so I do not know how this save will run with pets, my apologies. THERE IS ZERO CUSTOM CONTENT IN THIS SAVE. All lots are set as regular lots (not apartments) so if you want to change them for roommates, etc feel free! I hope you enjoy this save as much as I am! In honor of Halloween, which character(s) of LMK gets super extra about Halloween? Like the go all out, which decorations, elaborate costumes, and the like? Also, if a character would dress up for Halloween what they dress up as? I feel for some reason that Mei, or Red Son or both, would legitimately prank houses that don't give out candy, or give something dumb like toothbrushes, and go all out like their live or family honor depended on it.

Oh gosh both of the Monkey dads are terrible influences. Wukong hears "free candy" and he's pretending to be a child in a costume. Even worse in the Au since he demands "dad tax" for chaperone the kids, or might just pull a "dad outfit" for his own snacks. Probably the only one who actually likes getting fruit.

Macaque is super into the costume aspect, so he's up all night making custom outfits for the kiddos to wear. Stuff with practical effects that leave all the other kid's costumes in the dust. Bai He asked once for help choosing a witches' outfit, and Mac had to be talked down from giving her an actual enchanted broomstick.

MK is a sweet-fiend all throughout the halloween season. Gets really sad when all the halloween stock gets cleared out for xmas stuff. Was ok to stop trick-or-treating around the time he was old enough to chaperone the Eclipse Twins - still gets given candy sometimes by people who think he's just a tall teenager.

Mei and Red have a battle strategy for each place they hit up. A pre-game map of each available door since its harder to trick or treat in high-density areas. They negoiate homes that give out "bad candy" with good faith (dentists or old people) vs homes that are clearly just not in the spirit. Red misunderstands the level of "trick" at times, so Mei has to reel him back from breaking windows. Their "calling card" trick is a little graffiti of a dragon done in sugar syrup on the "bad houses" doors and/or walls. Their family honor is on the line if they dont' at least send a message.

Pigsy probably would close the shop for the night if not for little kids and their parents dropping by the shop for treats/dinner. He's gotten "too old" for the holiday and candy, but he still his a trick left up his sleeve. Probably helped Mei and red organise their first Big Prank.

Tang is deep into the horror media and telling the kids all the spookiest folklore stories. Probably even does a special reading corner event at the library to get his crypt-keeper vibe going.

Sandy loves the childhood aspect of halloween, but the gory stuff makes him quesy. And loud poppers/fireworks scares his cats. He'd probably stay indoors most of the time, but is happy to give out candy - most likely saltwater taffy.

The spider gang and the gold-silver twins, as you can imagine, are all running about having a terrific night of mischief and partying. Halloween is a BIG event in the demon world despite it's foreign influence. It's a night for cutting loose and letting your more trickster side out.

Ignihyde: Halloween with Them

So this was totally inspired by the fact that the newest Outlast game that’s being released will be multi-player, and I am an absolute bany when it comes to actually playing horror games. I can watch it all day, but I am the biggest baby known to man when you put the remote in my hands. Also platonic Ortho because baby boy!

Disclaimer: All characters in this series are aged up. For more information about my version of this world and the type of reader you can expect, please do a quick read of THIS post.

Halloween with Them

Theme: Horror Games

Ignihyde simply did not do any unnecessary prep work for Halloween. It was home to some of the most reclusive members of Night Raven College, with their house warden being the biggest recluse of them all. So, needless to say, they weren’t doing any parties.

Of course, some students might’ve been working on some robotics or even programming horror games in celebration of the spookiest time of the year, but they weren’t running to other dorms and trying to get preparations for hanging out or partying done. Things like programming were best left to do alone.

Despite all this, they all bond over a few things. Watching horror movies and seeing the new special effects…or the biggest one of them all. Playing whatever horror game was released. There were always new games coming out around this time of year, so they’d want to play them.

Idia Shroud

“Oh my sevens, I want to go back to my world, Idia. This…this is terrifying. What are people in this world on to even come up with this concept?” You asked, shaking as you held the remote. Idia had invited you to try the newest multi-player game; you just hadn’t expected it to be this graphic. This was on the same level as special CGI in movies, and everything looked realistic. You swore you could see the subtle way that someone’s breathing stopped when their character died by how their chest moved.

“This isn’t even that scary,” Idia said, holding his remote in a relaxed position as he leaned back in his chair. He had a toothy grin on his face, and he was clearly enjoying how terrified you were with the whole experience. You shot him a glare that was anything but menacing with how you were also shaking.

“I call bull on that!” You said, not believing that he wasn’t even the least bit scared. Idia chuckled as he looked back at the screen, un-pausing it so you two could continue playing. Your grip on the controller was so strong that you feared you might actually break it if this continued. You tried your best, in all honesty, to keep up with him. Anytime something popped up, you tossed the controller in the air and shrunk back into the gaming chair. Every time it just prompted Idia to laugh harder at you.

Eventually, you got fed up with it and paused the game. Idia looked over at you, and you could see a flash of worry crossing his face as you put the controller down and stood up. He could feel the anxiety creeping through him that he actually offended you and you would just leave and never return. That was until he watched you approach his chair and pull it out. You lifted his arms, and he just went along with it, not knowing what you were doing.

That’s when you plopped yourself into his lap and grabbed your own controller. Idia’s hair burst into pink flames as he tried processing what was going on, “W-what are you…I…what?!” he shouted right into your ear, and you flinched from how loud he was. You did take pride in getting a rise out of him, though, after all the teasing he was doing while you were scared shitless from the video game.

“I won’t be as scared if I’m in your arms, Idia. Now come on, let’s play.” You clicked the play button as you began moving the character around. It kind of worked, but you also just enjoyed the comfort of how warm he was against your back. Anytime something scary happened, you instinctively leaned into him more and turned your head into his shoulder. Idia wouldn’t admit it…but he thinks this is the best way to play horror games now.

Ortho Shroud

“Your pulse has accelerated at an alarming rate in the past few minutes,” Ortho stated as you held the controller in your hand. You had heard about a new game from Ace and Deuce and were dying to try it out. The only problem was that it was a horror game, and you didn’t want to play it by yourself. That was where Ortho came in; when he saw you walking out of Sam’s with the new game in hand, he had asked you a few questions about it. Then you told him you were scared to game alone, and he offered to help.

“I am aware; I’m terrified.” You hadn’t even made it through the prologue of the game yet as Ortho watched you fumble with the controls. Your hands were sweaty from the nerves, and you didn’t know what to do. The game was one of those that kind of tossed you in and hoped you figured out the controls before the first chase scene.

“Perhaps it would be best to put the game away for the benefit of your health?” Ortho suggested as he came over and placed his hands over the controller, “Your stress levels are going haywire, and it could lead to issued later on if it continues.” Honestly, this boy was far too sweet for his own good. You sometimes wondered how Idia was able to program him to be such a cutie pie in the first place. Sure he had gained sentience that was beyond his AI, but from what you know, he was sweet before that too.

“Perhaps you’re right….” You admitted reluctantly. The horror genre in this world was way different from what you expected. Ortho was kind enough to take the controller from you and save the game before turning off the console. As soon as it was off, the room went dark before Ortho went over and hit the light switch, “Thank you for coming over and playing with me…even if we didn’t get very far.”

“It was my pleasure; I always enjoy time with you!” Ortho said, and honestly, he was melting your heart. That’s when you got an idea that might be able to help you sleep later tonight. You smiled as you looked at the small, robotic child.

“Hey, I heard they were carving pumpkins over at Heartslabyul…wanna see if we can help?” You asked and Ortho actually gasped in excitement. He nodded his head with a big smile plastered across his face.

“Do you think we can get big brother to join?” Ortho said and you hummed, tapping your chin.

“I don’t know if he’d wanna go to the dorms, but we can ask.” You said, and you could see the nervous look on his face, “If he doesn’t wanna come with us, we’ll just have to bring the pumpkins to him, though, right?” This seemed to cheer him up. He did a little happy dance before grabbing your hand, already dragging you out of the dorm and over to Ignihyde.

Happy Halloween!

Greetings on this, the spookiest day of the year. Folks across the world celebrated Ace Week with acceptance, acknowledgement, and love. Jodie Whittaker’s final episode as the Doctor aired and her regeneration was quite a surprise. Star Wars fans are thrilled to have new content and are GIFing the heck out of Tales of the Jedi. A very complicated reverse love square is happening in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. Grian made a surprise appearance in the Empires SMP, which is in the middle of a lot of drama. In other drama, Netflix announced that Liam Hemsworth will be replacing Henry Cavill as Geralt in season 4 of The Witcher. Also, Elon Musk now owns Twitter, so that’s a thing. This is Tumblr’s Week in Review.

Halloween 2022: Tales of Halloween Vol. 2 (The Boys x Trick ‘r’ Treat (2007) AU): Alright everyone, it’s now October 31st. During the spookiest time of the year there are a few guidelines all ghosts and goblins should follow.

ALWAYS stay on sidewalks

NEVER go into a stranger’s house

ALWAYS hand out candy to trick-or-treaters.

ALWAYS check your candy.

ALWAYS wear a costume.

NEVER blow out a Jack O'Lantern before midnight.

ALWAYS respect the Dead.

NEVER take down your decorations before November 1st

NEVER harm the innocent

It might sound simple enough but the rules must never be broken. You don’t know which evil spirit, powerful witch or entity you might offend if you don’t. And I know it’s hard to believe that supernatural forces are at play, but don’t forget. Tonight’s the night that the veil between this world and other worlds is almost non-existent. Fear not though. Sometimes a simple candy can solve the problem. You do your Trick, you get your Treat. I hope you all stay safe until the morning of November 1st.

Entry #7 of the “Sugar Slashers and Arcade Horrors” collection! This time, we are back on track with the Sugar Rush racers. Gloyd Orangeboar takes on the role as the mischievous Halloween spirit, Sam! You best make sure to wear your costumes, and hand out candy this Halloween if you’re not the one trick or treating! Oh, and don’t disrespect the undead!

Bonus doodle that ties into this! Since Halloween is a collection of stories that tie into one, why not give some sort of representation of these stories in this crossover world? All of these newspapers are based off the conclusions of the stories though, so be wary of indirect spoilers, hehe ;)

THE CORRUPTION. insects. a close imitation of the natural course of life. an illness in a community. a rag that dirties more than it cleans. an untreated wound. containment. breaching containment. unbreathable air. fungi. one with that you love. one with what loves you. a corpse unfit for a glass case. hearing a song in the sound of tiny wings & legs. honeycomb patterns. an ecosystem within a person. a curse passed on. the hubris of a scientist. an ugly death where a glorious one is owed. blood on a handkerchief. parasites. something pushing up the sewer. a mask to keep something out. trypophobia. knowing you belong. death weeks after impact. fever. food that’s gone off. pandora’s box. death behind a glass.

THE DARK. shadows. lights that turn off by themselves. the feel of cold marble. a beaked creature in the night. the difference between seeing darkness & seeing nothing. touch of something you can’t see. hiding under a blanket. white, clouded eyes. months without going outside during sunlight. pouring dark. unscrewing lightbulbs. black matter. light sensitivity. a starless night. time before light was created. a shadow on the wall without a body to attach to. withering plants. a world without a sun. footfalls in an empty house in the night. a light that doesn’t reach as far as it should. desperate reach for a flashlight. clothes that hide your shape. staying unperceivable. winter months in the north. an empty church.

THE FLESH. body horror. factories. a hunger for something more filling. never quite happy with how you look. the terror of an animal waiting for slaughter. a very good meal. the liquid of a perfect steak. fighting your worst survival instincts. a twisted bone. long nights working out. more than one heart. appearance that shapes like clay. a bag of bones. bone broth in a pot. knowing to fear pigs. the butcher’s shop. plastic surgery. something alien inside your body. a hunger in the gaze laid upon you. unwitting cannibalism. forgetting what you used to look like. being admired for your appearance & appearance only. teeth marks on skin. scars from wounds that should’ve killed you. cooking in scarcity. fenced in with one way to go.

When it comes to gaming I’m what my team calls the loot goblin. I’ll shove anything into my inventory. In FPS this usually manifests as a “pocket full of rockets.” It’s not uncommon for me to run in one sector of the game and just cause a bunch of explosions in whilst I hide from other teams.

But they turn out to be one of the sweetest people in the world.

Good news, anon! Everyone here is well acquainted with Violet and most of them are pretty chill about it. But! Here are the ones who would have the strongest reactions:

Toni is very curious about your physiology, mostly. She's interested in a scientific way, but this doesn't mean she won't try to befriend you. She would probably let her curiosity seep too much into any conversation, though...

Dani is quick to try and make friends with you. You're bigger than she is (it doesn't take much, though) and if she's being perfectly honest, she needs more tall, intimidating friends in her life. Learning you're an absolute sweetheart will only make her like you more.

You might be one of the spookiest looking people Xilixas has ever met, but that's not going to deter him. So, are you doing anything later? How about dinner? Oh no, his treat. Just, uh, so. Why don't you tell him about your family? What do you do for fun? Are you into humans? Oh, no reason.

It takes Lillianna a while to adjust to the sight of you, and if you can tolerate all of her efforts to make you less scary looking (i.e. flower crowns, ribbons, etc.) she'll warm right up to you.

Fenway finds you very spooky looking, and even though she is visibly afraid, she still makes an effort to be your friend. Please don't be offended - she's trying her best.

Jude takes a long time to warm up to you. She's naturally distrustful of anyone new and you are very...different. She'll probably ruin any chance of a friendship just by being a suspicious pain in the butt, and by the time she's decided it's safe and okay to be close with you, she's probably already blown it.

Ghost is A-OK with you from the start. Who cares that you're spooky looking? What matters is that you're kind and friendly! He will ask for his cardboard house to be expanded so you can sit and have tea parties with him (if you want).

ex best-friend - someone who she considered nearly as close to her as her twin sister. when dollie wasn’t with rosie, she was always with your character. things ended on a very sour note, after dollie got too involved with a tragedy in the best-friends family. i wanna keep this pretty open to creative freedom, but an idea i had for this was that dollie made the mistake of sharing information on her best friends tragedy with her followers, and it caused a very sour and bitter end to the friendship.

the enemy - for some reason, this character wants to take dollie down and ruin the comfortable little career she’s been working so hard at building up ( maybe even at the expense of others? ) perhaps they don’t her sticking her nose in peoples business around town, or think she’s sniffed a little too close to something they want to remain covered up, this is completely open and i’d love to brainstorm something juicy for it 👀

the budding love - despite the constant need to always look put-together and like she has everything figured out, dollie has had a long battle with learning to understand herself. she was content with herself, comfortable with just focusing on her job and hobbies, but someone comes along and shows her what it’s like to love without all the expectations, what it’s like to have the passion, the adventure, the butterflies in your tummy that all the girls in the movies talk about. for the first time, she feels like she has a chance. (important note that dollie is a closeted lesbian currently who's only just now starting to figure herself out so this may have to be slow burn hehe!)

dreamshade companion - helps with investigations/the dirty work of being a nosy! dreamshades and spirit warriors often make contracts and work together as pairs in cagliostro, it's quite common and a good way to keep a dreamshade safe from being slain. perhaps your character is in it only for the safety, or maybe they enjoy sticking their nose in other peoples business too! i'm open to anything tbh

out of town friends - because of her interest in true crime/mysteries, dollie has done a fair bit of traveling outside of selphia for sleuthing and investigations, often spending weeks to even months all over the place to get the big scoop. there are no limits on where she could have met your muse, i wanted to leave it open for creativity ♡

podcast guests - anyone who comes on the podcast would likely have had their ears talked off by dollie many, many, many times. she’s very social and when it comes to info-dumping with her co-workers about the latest conspiracies, true crime, or whatever mysterious event has taken place in cagliostro this week, she doesn’t know when to stop

enemies and foes - when you're as nosy as dollie and willing to turn other peoples tragedies into profit, there are bound to be some people who just can’t sit right with her choice in career. maybe they think she’s too nosy, maybe she’s shared information with the public that was meant to be private, i’m open to absolutely anything!

Jackunzel Month Bonus Week Day 3 - Sugar Cookies

“Jack!”

Rapunzel frowns at the plastic container as she takes it out of the refrigerator, noting it’s about half as full as the last time she saw it.

“What’s up, Zellie?” Her boyfriend’s voice from the other room is muffled.

“Have you been snacking on the cookie dough again?”

Footfalls on linoleum, and she looks up to see an adorable mop of white hair and a pair of innocent blue eyes right above a tongue absolutely going to town on a spoon full of cookie dough. Jack’s lips and chin are already coated in the stuff, red and green sprinkles scattered across his pale skin like freckles.

“No,” he says defiantly, giving the spoon another lick.

“Jack.” She gives him her saddest pout. “That was supposed to be for our friends!”

“That’s what you said about the batch we baked yesterday, Punz. How many Christmas cookies do our friends need?”

“Oh. Right.” She blushes, suddenly embarrassed. “The ones from yesterday were for the party.”

He fixes her with a smug look, taking another long lick from the dough-covered spoon.

“Well, the cookies from today were supposed to be for us, then!” She crosses her arms and glares, not about to give in just yet. “I’ll have you know I got the decorations out and everything.”

“And we are making good use of them,” Jack says, downing another glob of dough. “Am I not included in ‘us?’”

Rapunzel glares harder--or tries to. It doesn’t seem to be very intimidating, if Jack starting to snicker is anything to go by.

“Don’t tell me you’re worried about salmonella.” His voice is muffled by the unbaked confectionery treat he continues to consume with reckless abandon.

“No,” she huffs. “I know the chances of that are next to nothing. It’s--it’s the principle of the thing?”

Even as she says it, she knows it’s a weak argument. If she saved the last of the cookie dough for them, then there’s no real logical reason they shouldn’t eat it as is.

Jacks leans on the counter. “Well, I live life by the principle of ‘the world could explode at any moment, so why waste time following arbitrary rules?’ Might as well do whatever’s the most fun. Which is definitely eating this cookie dough straight out of the container and not going to all the trouble to bake it.”

She shakes her head, knowing this is a losing game.

“You are a pain, Jack Overland-Frost,” she says, although with no real conviction.

“Oh nooooo.” Jack’s eyes widen in mock horror. “Is North going to put me on the naughty list again? Is he gonna have to transfer me to The Naughty List: Extended Edition with Bonus Features?”

Despite her best efforts, Rapunzel laughs.

“Maybe he’ll give you twice as much coal,” she jokes. “And then it’ll get all over the carpet and make a huge mess. We can’t have that.”

“Can’t we?” He raises his eyebrows. “We could spread it everywhere and pretend our house is a haunted coal mine. Turn it into a big Halloween attraction next year and charge admissions. We’d make bank.”

She snickers. “All hail the Soot House! It’ll be the spookiest destination in town, I’m sure.”

He laughs along with her. “Honestly, at this point, I kind of want to get more coal.”

Jack grabs the top of the wooden mixing spoon, tilting it back slightly. Rapunzel’s eyes widen as she realizes how exactly the boy is planning on upping his naughtiness.

He lets go, and the spoon springs forward. The last glob of cookie dough flies across the room, set on an unbreakable trajectory toward Rapunzel.

No reason this has to be a setback.

Rapunzel leaps into the dough’s path and opens her mouth wide. The dough ball sails in, quickly disappearing down her throat.

“Impressive.” Jack gives her an approving nod, like he wasn’t expecting her to so easily foil his schemes of dastardly evil.

Without warning, she reaches into the cookie dough container and scoops out a dollop, hurling it right at the cocky boy still feasting on his stolen spoon. His eyes widen in fear right before the glob smacks him in the nose, slowly oozing off like a melting snowball.

Rapunzel breaks into giggles. “Two can play at this game, you know.”

He glances down at his now-mostly-empty spoon, and seems to compare it to her full container of dough. Rapunzel can tell he doesn’t like his chances.

“All right.” He lifts his hands up. “I surrender.”

She grins wickedly, licking a chunk of cookie dough off her finger.

“See?” Jack points at her, still looking smug despite his loss. “You know I’m right! You know it tastes better before you bake it!”

“Hmmm. Maybe.”

Rapunzel glances around bashfully, not meeting his eyes as she sneaks another dollop of cookie dough.

“So now that we’re in agreement...” Jack’s eyes flick toward the living room. “What do you say we turn on the fire, make some hot cocoa, and put on the absolute worst Christmas rom-com known to man while we finish that off?”

She beams. “You’ve got a deal.”

OOP I just mean to write a little drabble thing and it kinda. Got away from me ^^; Still not as novel-length and out-of-control as it COULD have gotten, so. Bravo to me for some restraint??? Not anything truly of note, but restraint nonetheless XD

ANYWAYS this prompt was very fun to make and made me highkey hungry for sugar cookies ^^; I really gotta start baking Christmas cookies with my family again. All I ever do is write about my blorbos doing Fun Seasonal Activities instead of doing any of them myself XD

Also Jack is absolutely correct, if you haven’t eaten a vast bucket of straight unbaked cookie dough then are you really living life??? Are you just existing without passion? Without zest? I think you are. Salmonella be damned, I survived food poisoning once and I can do it again!

Used Brunette Punzel for the moodboard once again because she really does deserve more love!!! And like. Come on now. When I see a pic of an adorable brown-haired aesthetic girl with hair that I think is the absolute perfect length for brunette!Rapunzel, what am I supposed to do??? Not snap it up and use it for a Jackunzel moodboard??? An absolute crime.
