So excited that I was able to hang this painting “Light After the Storm” at Mark Arts. The whole painting measures 14 1/2 feet high 36 feet long, and I had help from over 225 members of the community in creating this. Used between 15 and 20 gallons of color.

I made these because I was really bored on this camping trip. I know they’re not that great/impressive, but I hope you enjoy anyways!

Working on a painting of Mount Pedernal in New Mexico. The foreground is filled with the cholla cactus. Trying to splatter paint and use a stick to make the needles and flowers. What do you think? Is it working?

Sometimes the sticks I use to paint with become works of art by themselves. So I’m adding a heart rock to a few of these to give away as gifts. Help me grow my followers. Share my work tag a friend and I might send you a paint stick with a heart rock on it.

Was commissioned to do a painting of Mt Pedernal in New Mexico. I love the oranges and reds in the rocks in the landscape. And the mountain rises right out of the desert. The only other thing of interest are the cholla cactus .  What else do you think I should add?

Working on some sky paintings. It’s always a learning process trying to re-create happy accidents. Sometimes they really work out and when they don’t I just paint over them again it’s not a huge loss.

My wife challenged me to do some paintings in black-and-white. I love color I understand color it’s easy for me. Working with warm and cool grays it’s tough, so subtle, trying to make the image work and come alive in black-and-white has been a challenge. I’ve been working on it for a couple of weeks so I don’t think it comes as easy.

Living in Kearney Nebraska I fell in love with the Platte River the name Nebraska is actually an old Oto Indian name meaning flat water referring to the Platte River that runs across the state from end to end. I love the Golden Sands and the blue sky. I always thought it was perfect School colors for University Nebraska at Kearney

As an artist the biggest compliment and thrill is when somebody wants your work. I feel so lucky to have people that want my paintings. Tammy was so excited and gave me such a great hug. What an honor that my work gets to be in her home.

Unfortunately I don’t get to walk in the woods every day. But I can still contemplate nature and meditate on color as I paint. Some people have a hard time seeing a single tree within the forest. How about a single drip  color that makes up a painting of trees in the forest.

I love rafting trips or even just floating on an inner tube down the water. Not much better to do on a warm summer day. The painting is only 9 inches high 12 inches wide 2 inches deep you can find the heart rock in the second picture. And you can see how the white water is made of back-runs and fractals as the wet paint does its magic.

So added some bear aspen trees onto the painting. Feels more finished now with foreground middle-ground and background. Love the snow and winter.

I love our big sky’s. Sometimes it feels like the clouds come in waves. Those of us locked on the prairie of the ocean for our sky.
