-> comments being down across the board and consumption culture being at an all time high. a fic gets 800 notes practically overnight and doesn't get a single comment (and sometimes I literally have to beg for comments/feedback on my fics when I know that hundreds of people are reading them)

-> me, grinding my teeth while pouring my heart and soul into a 40k fic that I know will be forgotten by fandom in a month or could possibly be stolen to be sold as a "novel": I do this because I love this. These gestures generally display an attempt at self-restraint of some sort - mainly a reaction to frustration, anger or anxiety, and also indicate the intention of putting more distance between oneself and the other person(s) involved. Rossi uses what is known as the ‘steeple hands’ pose, an indication that he has a confident attitude or is very confident about the outcome of the situation and may also try to convey a feeling of superiority; the lowered steeple is usually observed when the steepler is listening, rather than speaking. It has been years (hell, more than a decade) since Criminal Minds first aired, and that Matthew left the show, but up to this day I still thing that Jeid was a HUGE missed opportunity. I've been writing a lot to help with my anxiety, some of it's smut and some of its me trying to be better at writing romance. one of the fics that i'm writing in attempt to get better at writing romance, a lot of it is terrible but I wrote something and it's been on my mind.

there's just something about it. Like if someone ever said this to me I would sob. like full on.

And the place within the fic in which it is said would kill me. It's a Spencer Reid x OC, their married and on a case. They just got back from the police station and OC had ran a bath while Spencer got chinese food to enjoy. They got in the bath together and was just talking, Spencer was staring at OC as she talked with the most loving eyes. She paused and asked what was wrong and he just dropped that.

I just think that it's the most romantic thing I've written to date and if you'd like me to post it lmk cause I will, it won't be very good but it will be something with a little bit of smut but mostly romantic shit.

you don't need an AO3 app - round 2!!!

"AO3 is ugly and I hate the formatting!" -> you can download site skins. very gorgeous ones. and you can use them to change the aesthetics and visuals of AO3. just search 'AO3 skin' on Tumblr or even on google and you will be in A Whole New World. (and those searches should yeild tutorials on how to install the skins as well - it's not something I know a lot about, because I used to primarily use Quizilla and FFN, so I am more than used to Ugly Website. AO3 is very aesthetic and pretty compared to those.)

"AO3 is too bright!!! it hurts my eyes!!!" -> there is a dark mode. scroll down to the bottom. there is a heading that says 'customize'. under this heading, hit the button that says 'reversi'. that is their version of dark mode. and again, you can look for site skins that you like that have a darker background.

"I want to be able to make reading lists!" -> you can make bookmark collections on AO3. In your bookmarks, there is a button that says 'add to collection' beside each work. have fun. go ham. (Also, you can make private bookmarks if you are reading something with more controversial content that you don't really want others to know about - and please know, that any bookmark comments you make on public bookmarks can be seen by the author.)

(this last one made me laugh - because it seems like people are just coming up with bullshit excuses to 'need' an AO3 app when there is literally nothing that an app can go that AO3 can't.)

"my memory is really bad because of reasons sooo I remember to use things better by having them on my homescreen like an app!!!" -> create an AO3 shortcut on your homescreen. most mobile browsers have the capability to put a shortcut to a specific link or a specific website on your homescreen so that you can go straight there - like you would with opening an app. and it can be labelled 'the AO3 app' while simply having the icon of that browser. you can even do this with a link to a specific fic that you are in the process of reading (even down to the specific chapter that you were on). there is literally 0 reasons to have or use an AO3 app.

and remember kids!!! any and all apps with AO3 in their title are not associated with the real archiveofourown in any way, shape, or form - they are unofficial, and technically, they are illegal. and using them is putting all fanficition writers at risk legally (even if there is no active lawsuits right now) - just don't fucking use them. it is a threat to the entire fanfiction hobby just because you want 'the app experience'.

the archive is a non-profit website with 0 ads for a reason, and those apps are scummy scammers who put ads on our stories to make fast easy money when none of the people who made those stories ever consented to it.

okay, so. i don’t think moreid is a viable ship in canon for the majority of the seasons where both derek and spencer are there. like it’s a fun ship to have and all especially because of how close and lovable the boys are, but mostly it’s a ship because you can kind of thing for me - any attempts to canonise it just seems to be reaching and using what seems like regular banter.

until season eleven that is.

goddamn season eleven more than crosses into homoerotic territories, and not just on reid’s end either which tends to be the way people look at it as an unrequited thing.

the way spencer describes morgan telling him about savannah and how he almost starts crying??

fully it’s an emotional time, watching a friends s/o in a dire situation, but the show of emotion has more to with the way derek is feeling rather than savannah’s condition. prior to the waiting room scene spencer is concerned, but calm and professional yet his behaviour changes *so dramatically* when he sees how morgan is suffering.

just thinking about what sets him off too - narrating his own realisation that derek was in love with someone else. he even asks whether morgan thinks he has found the one.

and obviously, he’s trying to make derek feel better, but there seems to be an ulterior motive there. especially with the melancholy way his conversation with morgan in 11x17 sets out. spencer’s happy for morgan, so so happy, but he seems to be pining too!

and the way reid is the one to kill his kidnapper in 11x16, and the way in derek’s hallucination he is the one who finds him dead - reid motivates him to stay alive. nothing is that accidental, come on.

and like, as much as morgan describes spencer as a ‘little brother’ and then shipping them anyway might feel a little weird, i think it indicates a familial peer relationship more that ‘brotherhood’ in like a biological sense. morgan reid prentiss are described as like the ‘siblings’ of the bau by the writers and the fandom quite often because of their banter as well as being the younger generation of bau members (and JJ and garcia might be excluded from this category as they didn’t start out as profilers), so i wouldn’t say it’s as incesty as it might seem lmao! like it’s just another way of saying ‘’we’re family, nothing can separate us as we are connected down to the soul’’.

i’m rambling, and it’s late lol, but i do think moreid is at least deliberately implied on s11 in the way the other seasons didn’t make it such an large part of their relationship.

Fragile like Glass Fragile like a Bomb

Smidge of a content warning, this is a wee bit smutty. Not terribly. mostly just achy, but still slightly smutty.

Hotch's memory would never be as good as Reid's, not in a million years. Maybe that's why he couldn't remember the last time someone had touched him like he was fragile. Fragile, like glass and not the bomb he sometimes felt like. Long fingers gently traced along his ribs which strong thighs boxed in his hips. Reid had been riding him and he was still hard and wanting inside of him but this reprieve sent his body quaking till he nearly buckled in on himself. No. Aaron Hotchner could not remember the last time someone had treated him with such gentle admiration and later he would let himself ache for how it had been absent from his life for too long. But for now, all he could do was give himself over to Spencer Reid and finally learn how it felt.

He hadn't been expecting the way Spencer's eyes had gone soft, edged with something that for a moment Aaron thought might have been pity and he almost pulled away until the words fell between them almost like a gauntlet. "When is the last time you let yourself be cared for?" No then. Not pity for Aaron but exasperation and regret. "I don't need-" "Yes you do, Aaron. Everyone needs..." those same fingers traced over a scar, souvenirs that Aaron had always dealt with alone. "You deserve to need, too." He gasped as he felt the fragile line inside his chest, taught and razor-sharp, finally snap and he thought that it would shred him to pieces from the inside. His lungs burned and his body needed and Spencer was there with easy kisses and soft words, a weight that finally felt like could carry against his chest. A weight that didn't crush him under duty but grounded him against the overwhelming terror he tended to manage alone.
