I feel like just sharing my iterator OCs so uhh
Tumblr media
their general info shall be under the read more (any iterators mentioned below that aren't one of these six belong to my friends/partners <3)
Six Pink Blossoms (SPB)
It/They
Technically my iterator sona, initially made for an rp server that never got very far
Pink and silver overseers
Is interested in genetic modification but is too concerned with the negatives to do much
Has a messenger slugcat named Petally
Has several "pet" strawberry lizards that have strange color morphs running around their can (inside and out)
Mere Mention (MM)
They/Them
Shamrock green overseers
Still tries to solve the Great Problem but hates it constantly
Uses modified lizards as messengers; currently mainly using a white called Swift End
Has middle kid syndrome
Nine Last Embers/Burning Embers (BE)
They/He
Orange and yellow overseers
So gay for their local senior iterator (Mouthpiece Of Silence)
Is also competing for said senior's affection with another iterator from their group (Countless Many Colors)
Has a slugcat named Dancer
Spends most of his time collecting data on local fauna for MOS
Many Small Miracles/Little Miracle (LM)
It/Its
Lavender overseers
Falling apart as we speak
Has long since given up on the Great Problem
Has a lot of scavengers living in and on its can
Has just enough power to get scavs to do work for it, its main one is called Third Chance, who comes from a lineage of messengers for it
Doesn't interact much with other iterators at all
Starry Skylights/Night Sky (NS)
She/They
Purple and cyan overseers
My first iterator oc! (Was going to be someone I wrote through on AO3)
Was a biologist at heart
Entirely enthralled by the local wildlife
Has sunk into marshland, among with many other iterators of their local group (only one, Echoes of Storms, remains on the surface)
Tried to upkeep contact with EOS through her cyan lizard Twinkle, until it couldn't reach down to her anymore
Maybe she's still out there...
Personal Hijinks/Hijinks Inbound (HI)
He/They
Amber overseers
Another technical sona of mine, but in a meme way
Somehow managed to get unhooked from their can, has neurons and a battery strapped to their back
Their can has since gotten overrun by creatures and is in disrepair, so it wouldn't be safe for them to go back to anyway
Travels the lands on foot with his messenger slugcat Lookout
Lookout disappeared one day and the next HI saw of it, it had two slugpups he named Jumper and Needler
He likes trying to climb other iterators' cans
Likes bothering their neighbor, Waxing And Waning

Alright. I was gonna make this more in-depth, but i really have no idea how to condense a work longer than the bible into a coherent post so. Time for
SPB tries to explain Homestuck somewhat briefly.
(somewhat spoiler warning)
so. homestuck is a web"comic" about 4 kids (also 12 kids. plus 4 other ones. also one really fucked up one.) playing a game. that game is called SBURB. in some instances its actually SGRUB. because yes. that game causes their world to end. but its alright! you can escape into the game world. there you can breed frogs until you have a very special frog thats gonna be a new universe for people to live in. when youve done that, you won the game! this has very little to do with the actual gameplay of that game.
One player can build things at the house of the other. but that player has to kill enemies first so they have enough recourses. you build upwards towards floating gates so you can enter the game world. In the game world, every player gets their own planet! theres a scary boss monter hiding in it. also, somewhere on it is a bed where when you die on it you become a god! What kind of god depends on your personality. Or maybe your personality depends on what kind of god you are? noone knows. also the planets each have sweet little reptiles or amphibians who just live there. theyre cool. later on you can visit the planets of the other players through further gates.
you can make basically everything you want to by combining things with alchemy! actually the alchemy is more like programming. and needlessly complicated. (also people have inventories that function like different types of data storage. but that has nothing to do with SBURB. thats just normal in the world of homestuck)
you also get a little ghostly companion as compensation for the whole rest of your planet dying! A glowing orb absorbs something and it becomes your guide. most of the time, the thing the orb absorbs is someone/something dead, so you get to revive someone basically (neat!). actually two things can be put in the guide. But what you put in there before you go into the game world also affects the enemies youll be facing.
Somewhat related to the game, there are special dream moons. when you go to sleep, theres a dream you there on one of those. One moon is yellow and for :D people and the other one purple and for B) people. Your dream you can die seperately from your awake you, but you need them both you for the magical god-bed to work! Luckily, theres also another place to die on the moons where you just need the dream bodies around. Also, on the moons live chess people. The yellow one has white and the purple has black ones.
The chess people also have a big chessboard battlefield planet in the middle of the game world. They fight a war there. What you put in your guide thingies also affects the board.
Sometimes, the previous players fucked up and made your universe frog have cancer. That makes the game unbeatable for you! Luckily, theres maybe a place on one of your planets where you can basically hard reset your universe. Yay! But that means youd normally die. So if you dont wanna die, you gotta find a way around that to get into that new universe.
Okay, that was the game kinda. Now onto stuff that actually matters!
Tumblr media
Those are the four kids it starts with. its the one on the lefts birthday and the sburb beta comes out. so they all play sburb and cause their planet to be destroyed. but uh oh
Tumblr media
the trolls who played sburb first fucked up making the human universe so now the previous four gotta reset it! So they do that.
Tumblr media
Those are the new four kids that happen there. theyre actually the grandma/grandpa/mother/brother of the original four. actually theyre their mother/father/mother/father. because everyone is either a weird slime clone of themself or a mixture of two clone slimes.
the new four also talk with cherubs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these guys. the red one hires a dream assassin to kill the green one. that one plays sburb alone and thats not allowed so he suffers a totally different session which i will NOT get into but he gets green leprechaun muppet henchmeb because of it and also hes the big bad actually.
Yeah turns out due to time shenanigans he kinda has always been there and *sorta* has been pulling the strings since the beginning?
doesnt matter. they manage to defeat him after they bring a new green cherub from another timeline there.
and uhh thats the end of homestuck then.
🎉...
i left out basically everything that makes homestuck. fun. and enjoyable. But i will NOT get into the characters because everyone interacts with everyone and theyre really complex.
also, fun fact, the birthday "boy" from the beginning is actually a trans girl after someone found one of the authors toblerones. this shows up nowhere in canon material but according to hussie its canon now. its probably fine to picture that fella as whichever gender.
also everyone is hella queer and or neurodivergent. even the homophobic racist characters. especially those actually.
okay ill shut up fr now i might talk about the characters at some point but now definitely not.
(@possiblyatransgirl heres the quest attempt its shitty but homestuck is equally shitty)

@/catherine_pollak posted a review on Shakirova's debut as O/O, and I honestly couldn't agree more. Ballet is a technical art form, and it's beauty relies on perfection. To have a VBA graduate with so many problems with basic technique at one of Russia's biggest theater is crazy. And the artistic part of her performance was so over the place, too. But the fact is that they lowered the bar. It's the new reality of Mariinsky (and Bolshoi). They favor bad dancers because they're popular among the audience/management, and forget the good ones. By the way, this isn't hate towards Renata. She's good at more contemporary works, but with classical ballets and even the adagio, she struggles a lot. She has a very limited repertoire. Otherwise, her artistic delivery gets all over the place as well. It's just frustrating how they have Novikova, Skorik, Tereshkina, Shapran... in the house and keep giving the roles to ballerinas not suitable for. Like the recent Raymonda, SL etc.
I follow her and respect her, but she's one opinion of a very opinionated ballet audience in St. Petersburg! I appreciate her pointing out some technical flaws and simplification of steps that I would not have picked up on. I'm very eager for that type of insight. And when you watch videos side-by-side, there are clear technical issues. Will Shakirova get better? Yes, I believe she can and has to improve those issues, which stemmed mostly from lack of turnout, or losing turn-out. Despite this critique, Shakirova has a lot of defenders online, too. So I'm taking a big of a reserved stance on this one. However, I also picked up on Ms. Pollack's baked-in opinion that a soubrette should not dance Swan Lake on the Mariinsky stage. She complains about Renata's physique in contrast with that of the long-limbed corps and that's where she kind of lost me. I don't think her reviews come from a place of malice, but when I read them I feel she has a common bias that only a certain body-type can dance O/O. I think Renata's first outing (actually, second if you count the Primorsky debut) in Swan Lake was pretty good. She's not a natural fit for the role, but I see it as a starting point. The one thing that I picked up on — and have mentioned in other conversations — is that I was underwhelmed by Shakriova's portrayal of Odile. She vamped up Odile in a way that didn't connect with me. (I did see several clips of Iliushkina and found hers way more subtle and nuanced, and I felt, "Yes, the prince would be fooled by her!) There is a long history of dancer's getting "a shot" at big roles both at the Mariinsky and Bolshoi. Their repertoire and performance schedules are so packed that I think they can afford to give rising dancers a chance. Not all outings are a success, but I think it's exciting. I've read that Skorik was also panned in her early performances, which is hard to imagine! (Cold and unfeeling…) Meanwhile, SPB audiences respond warmly to Shakirova on stage. There's so much we can see online but being in the audience during a live performance is where the magic occurs. (Sigh…hope to get there one day...) I'm not really worried about the Mariinsky's future as the gold-standard for classical ballet. Is there a trend of a lowering of standards? If so, where/why is that happening? Is it coaching? Favoritism? Or is it more fundamental? Are academy graduates not up to par? I don't know these answers but as this generation of primas retire, it's not clear who are the successors and that is a bit worrying. Here's a 30 minute clip that compiles most of Shakirova's debut. I look forward to seeing her dance this in the future... Or maybe O/O will slip away from her repertoire.
youtube
This is an aside. One thing that I have noticed is that due to the current political situation, Mariinsky artists in general are being starved of (good, emphasis good) contemporary repertoire and touring opportunities. They are losing exposure on the global stage. No more tours of Covent Garden, Kennedy Center. When was the last time they performed a full Balanchine ballet? Ramatsky's work is fading away from their playbills. I haven't seen anything new (other than the vintage, throw-back Fille du Pharaoh) in a while. They are the best at classical ballet, but I believe the dancers thrive when they have exposure to all kinds of choreography, so this is more worrying to me.

Give us a pureblood biology headcanon!
CRACKS MY KNUCKLES
I’ll stick to what I’ve been mulling over for … months: lifespan!
The closest thing to an answer I could find was fluffynexu’s estimate of 250-400 years on average, with extensions possible with the Force or medical intervention. Naturally I have to make everything more complicated and skew the average because I have a Pureblood (Priestess Nikpiutiuth) who lived to be nearly 800 years old. She was a Light-sided Sith and was already about 300y/o when Tenebrae was born, and endured (enjoyed) a horrific 500 more before she finally shrugged and said “I’ll call it quits, Force”. She lived to raise her own granddaughter and meet her great grandchildren.
For most of my LS SPB roster, they do tend to see their 500s-600s if they’re not . outright murdered before that. My DS SPBs.. as few and far between as they are.. generally see their 300s if they’re lucky, since they’re a tad busy killing one another off.
I think Vindican was maybe in his 100s-150s when Malgus slaughtered him, so he was still relatively young.
(Purebloods don’t talk about age much, after a certain point most people stop counting and nab the closest historical event to their birth for generalizations.)

Random movie facts I just know for some reason??
I’m literally a living mani ratnam encyclopedia, so beware
The cast Bheem wears on his hand in RRR is not a deliberate choice. He wears it because Tarak irl broke his hand (or wrist).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eega is the only movie for which Rajamouli wrote the story.
Nearly all of Rajamouli’s movies are centered around revenge and have (atleast) one iconic silhouette shot and weapon.
Actress Sridevi was the first choice for the role of Sivagami.
Baahubali was just supposed to be one movie.
Kilikili (the language of the Kalakeyas from Baahubali) is a legit language with grammer rules and a website dedicated to it. According to Rajamouli it’s the “worlds youngest and easiest language”
Speaking of language, Mani Ratnam’s only Telugu movie, Geethanjali, was possible because Nagarjuna (yes, the actor Nagarjuna) followed (stalked?) Mani Ratnam every morning after watching Agni Natchathiram/Gharshana.
The arc of Surya from Thalapathi begins and ends with the shot of the sun. This is because he’s modeled after Karna and Karna is the son of the Sun God. Also many important moments of Surya in the movie has the sun in the background.
Arvind Swamy and Shobana (mild spoiler ahead?) who get married in the movie were classmates when they were kids.
Arvind Swamy was not the first choice for his now iconic roles in Thalapathi, Roja, Bombay, and Thani oruvan/Dhruva.
In Iruvar/Iddaru, Kalpana (played by Aishwarya Rai) looking like Pushpavalli has an important part. The movie is the metaphorical biography of the friendship between MGR and Karunanidhi and it was recently found that Jayalitha (on whom Kalpana is based on) did in fact look similar to MGR’s first wife.
In the same movie, the role of Tamizhselvan (the Karunanidhi equivalent) was offered to and was auditioned by many, including R. Madhavan (who was rejected because his “eyes looked too young”), Mammootty (who had a look test, but rejected the role), Kamal Haasan (who rejected the role), and Arvind Swamy (who was initially finalized, had a look test, and even recorded two poems that are used in the final cut, but was unable to act, as AVM productions refused to let him, as it would bring continuity issues to his other film Minsara Kanavu/Merupu Kalalu). The role finally went to Prakash Raj, who got a national award for this role.
The song Vennila Vennila from this movie is shot in all natural light as the technicians were on strike during the schedule.
Mammootty is 70. Not a fact. Just wanted to let y’all know that Mammukka is 70 years old.
There is an alternate ending to Minsara Kanavu/Merupu Kalalu, (spoiler ahead) where Thomas does not become a priest. Instead Priya and Deva simply get married after Deva jumps off the train.
Director Gautam Vasudev Menon has two cameos in this movie. He worked as an assistant director.
For a movie, Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman wanted to use a Backstreet Boys song. When asked for permission, the production company asked for 1.5 million (not sure if INR or USD) as royalties (they ended up just creating a song from scratch). But when the same production company asked permission to use Chaiyya Chaiyya, from Dil Se for Inside Man, though they were willing to give it for free, Mani Ratnam (the director of Dil Se) and AR Rahman (the composer) demanded the same amount of money which the production company paid.
AR Rahman wanted to record an album with SPB in which Rahman wanted SPB to sing ARR’s popular songs that were originally sung by other singers.
That’s all I can remember for now. Some of these are from deep Wikipedia rabbit holes. Most from a book called Conversations with Mani Ratnam. More soon?

Review —
Starting with some random information. I have to mention I have bootlegs of the show in several cast compositions many times but, especially since the show closed now, I was glad I managed to see some of the last performances live. In fact, I only had a ticket for the 30th at first and thought I would only make it to the stagedoor on 29th but when around 3,5 hours before the show as by a wonder a ticket appeared, I, of course, decided to take it in a heartbeat. Since I was staying in an apartment not very far from the theatre I went there a little earlier and met outside with friends. After a while I then noticed that someone was greeting me and when I turned around I figured out it was Elena, who just came to the theatre to get ready for the show. I then rushed to greet her as well, she congratulated me on getting to Piter again (since ofc she knew about my ✨adventure✨ at the border control the other day😵‍💫) and I also managed to hand over the bouquet of flowers I bought for her. 🥰 Honestly, after this small, coincidental meet-up my mood already went up by 1000 but by then I did not even expect just how much better this evening was still going to become. We then went inside the theatre, met some more friends there and just walked around, taking pictures. I also got a programme of the show which I asked some of the actors to sign the next day.
The show - I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to even closely describe my amazement about this show in words but overall it really was a breathtaking and fantastic experience and (no shade to other productions, I love the musical in general) I am now even more convinced that the Russian production is my favourite out of them. The costumes are gorgeous, the whole cast and ensemble is great, the orchestra and the music itself are also amazing… I was already impressed when the show started with Kirill’s Doctor Jekyll from the off giving some kind of “introduction” to the show and sort of explaining how every person is split into good and bad etc. also I really loved the stage design and how the scenery on stage switched for almost every scene, starting with scenes in the madhouse and then switching to Sie Danvers’ home, the red rat, and Doctor Jekyll’s Study or Laboratory all the time. 'Lost in the darkness' and 'I need to know' right at the beginning were really great scenes and I also have to remark that 'facade' (and its 1000 reprises) and the ensemble dancing scenes in general were really impressing. At the end of act 1 Hyde was sort of lighting a flame on stage and even though I sat in the 7th row, I was able to feel the warmth on my face.. (I’ll just mention my absolute favourites now bc otherwise it’s gonna be too long) One of my favourites was definitely the engagement scene, which was absolutely adorable. Also the fact that Henry and Emma wore matching clothes almost made my heart melt.🥺 I also adored the 'his work and nothing more' part. 'Alive' and 'dangerous game' were some really hot scenes as well, as was confrontation. At 'a new life' and ‘once upon a dream' I had trouble holding back my tears. And, I know it’s a very unpopular opinion, but ‘in his eyes' will forever be among my most favourite scenes in the whole show. Especially in this composition because Elena and Nataliya just sounded really great together. The final also left me in tears. This time was by the way one of the shows where Emma also dies in the end :'( So overall, the whole show was amazing.
Cast - starting with Jekyll/Hyde of course. As you might know, my favourite J&H unfortunately hasn’t been playing since 2018, so I had no chance of seeing him. Nevertheless, I saw both Kirill and Roman now and they were both great, though very different (about Roman I’ll write in the other review). To sum up, Kirill was an exceptional J&H, he found the perfect balance between a very introverted doctor who is pretty much focused on his work only and evil, savage Mr Hyde. To me personally, his Henry even seemed less sociable and a bit more cold/withdrawn than some other portrayals I’ve seen. While for others it seems the extreme obsession with work only developes over the course of the show and they did care a lot more for Emma before all that, he really seems to have chosen his work as his top priority right from the start and she only comes second. Nevertheless, the chemistry between him and Elena (and Natasha as well) was really good and they seemed like a very sweet couple during their engagement. Moreover, I have noticed that you sometimes see Hydes who are acting more beast-like and wild while others, like Kirill’s, seem to focus more on the evil, maniac side of the character. Overall, I really enjoyed his portrayal though. Emma. My favourite. I have to admit I wasn’t a huge fan of Emma and always thought she’s a rather boring character - until I saw Elena’s portrayal of her. I could write hours about how much I love her Emma, but to sum up she was just amazing, both vocally and acting-wise. Her Emma was very tender, always loving, kind and supportive towards Jekyll, but at the same time she had this strong and independent side to her, which was visible especially in her interactions with stride at the beginning. She’s pretty much driven by her love for Henry, never leaving his side and always believing in him, even if nobody else does, even though it is noticeable that she has her doubts later on and that she really suffers from her fiancé’s constant absence and Lena just portrayed all of this perfectly. Nataliya as Lucy was also great. I really enjoyed watching her 'bring on the men' and the scenes in the red rat in the beginning but at the same time I suffered with her during 'a new life' and her death left me in tears as well. It’s just impossible to not feel touched by her story seeing how such a kind-hearted woman who never gives up believing in her dream and hoping for a new life, despite her position in society, has to go through so much suffering…
stage door - first of all, right after the show I got a chance to take a picture with Emma in costume and after that and after I went to get my jacket from the wardrobe, I went out to the stage door, met some more friends there and then we waited for the actors together. There were masses of people that day, so I was really worried I wouldn’t be able to take photos or ask for autographs. I almost didn’t notice when Elena came out because she was surrounded by such a huge crowd of people. Luckily, my friend told her that I’d like to see her and ask to sign something again and she came to us right away, took some pics with me and signed my photo album with the photos with her from another concert in September before she left. She’s the sweetest, honestly, I can’t even describe how much I love her <3 When the crowd started to disappear I also managed to take a picture with Kirill. We stayed for a little longer and suddenly noticed that someone had placed some huge plastic cherries next to Kirill in front of the stage door. They were gone again later, but up to this date, we haven’t figured out why they were standing there. I showed Elena the photo with the cherries later and asked whether she knows, since I suggested it might’ve been a present for Kirill, but she didn’t know anything about it either. We later figured out they were taken away from a café nearby and placed there. Why is still unknown. Anyways, that was my first Jekyll&Hyde💗 I’ll write the second review tomorrow! If you have questions/remarks whatsoever, feel free to ask, comment, text me etc)
Should I post some of the photos as well? :D

Ask Game. 1!
this may sound boring, but it's my native city, saint petersburg. i rarely visit other places actually and 've seen only kaliningrad and crimea (which also so undecribable beautiful) so it's hard to be fair
saint petersburg is absolutely gorgeous city. it's not that old than other cities in european part of the country, but it was a capital when peter the first made russia an empire. emperors lived here for centuries, and saint petersburg became a cradle for the great october revolution as well. actually, a we had a lot of revolutions here.
spb, as we call it, has too many faces. center is a ticket to the past with those stunning palaces and ancient houses, cathedras, sculptures and bridges all over the place. and damn, saint petersburg is called a north vienna because the city is on the water. we have 93 rivers and about 800 bridges. also spb is really rainy, a lot compared to london. we have about 90 sunny days in a year so spb vibes as a depressing and lyrical place for creative people
here's some photos because please, that's absolutely beautiful

The Parade Enfilade of the Alexander Palace at Tsarskoe Selo, Circa. 1909 A rare view of one of the most recognised parts of the Alexander Palace, Giacomo Quarenghi’s Parade Enfilade. This suite of state apartments began (prior to 1902) with the now-demolished Music-Room which was remodeled for more living space for the growing family of Tsar Nicholas II. After 1902, the Parade Enfilade began with the Corner Drawing-Room of Her Majesty, and went on through the library rooms, and onwards along the garden façade until they opened up into the large, chambre which had been masterfully separated by two sets of golden sienna, scagliola (faux-marble) columns and pilasters, making the large hall actually three rooms. These three halls factored into the life of the Imperial Family in the way of special dinners, receptions and other ceremonial events. A projector for films was installed in this part of the Palace for the enjoyment of the Imperial Children. From these three rooms, visitors could go to either wing of the Palace, easily. Between the two outer halls, (named Portrait and Marble, respectively) were set large palm trees, and during these above-mentioned receptions and dinners, flowers and greenry would be supplied for visual effect. After the departure of the Imperial Family to the interior of Siberia, the plants and flowers were all removed.  As mentioned, this photograph or illustration plate comes from the year 1909. The source is a book entitled: “Consolidated Guards Battalion, and now His Imperial Majesty's own consolidated infantry regiment on guard at the royal throne.”  This is why I love researching through obscure, Russian texts from the period. You find gems like this. ^_^ ________________________________________________________________ Photographs: 1. Parade Enfilade of the Alexander Palace at Tsarskoe Selo, Circa. 1909.
