What do you think gay men are attracted to in men that they can’t be attracted to in women?
It can’t be anything about femininity or masculinity obviously. That’s both sexist, and cultural so can’t be what drives men-only attraction.
It can’t be anything about stated identity because someone could lie just as easily as they could tell the truth in such a statement, and it makes no sense because homosexuality and heterosexuality exists in other species with no stated identities. It’s not like other animals without gender are all pan.
Saying idk it’s the vibes or some indescribable trait men have that women can’t but “I can’t explain” is a nonanswer.
Soooooooo what is it? Or do you think any sexuality but bi/pan is just cultural performance or an identity rather than an inborn orientation?
- [ ]
I think trying to find one perfect answer that applies universally is the critical mistake here. I mean, I am a gay man. I say this because as of yet, that's the clearest answer I have for myself personally; maybe there's a possibility I experience attraction to a woman at some point (maybe I already have???), but I don't really have clarity on that right now, and it doesn't serve me to shape or explain my identity around "maybe"s.
Trying to pinpoint exactly what it is that attracts me to other men, specifically, is also like... not that useful. I used to find myself really attracted to feminine men specifically; not feminine women, not masculine women, not masculine men, not androgynous anyone, but feminine men. Specifically, men who were feminine in a very particular, long-hair-certain-attitude kind of way.
Recently, I have found myself appreciating, more and more, a certain kind of masculine body type and gay masculinity that I was never really interested in before. I find it incredibly hot. A lot of that coincides with things I appreciate about my partner, too, and things I find myself appreciating more about my partner as time goes on- as well as things my partner expresses appreciation for about me!
And I haven't even touched on attraction to nonbinary folks here because, like, it's a massive spectrum. "Nonbinary" means something different for every individual nonbinary person. To my mind, of course there's a possibility I experience attraction to a nonbinary person; how they identity, present, and what attracts me to them are all even more impossible to know for certain than the "maybe"s and the "why"s around my attraction (or lack thereof) to men and women.
My relationship to my own orientation was vastly different pre-testosterone versus post-testosterone, too. I was much more reserved and uncomfortable with relationships and attraction before I started T, and the only dynamic I ever felt was even a little bit tolerable was one where I was the "masculine woman" in a lesbian relationship. I didn't realize until very shortly after starting T that, actually, I like men. A lot. I felt comfortable with my body and my masculinity in a way I never had been before, and I felt comfortable in relationships with men; I no longer felt like I was The Woman By Default in contrast.
And that's all just me! This is my personal, specific, individual relationship to attraction, and how gender- both others' and my own- factors into my relationship with orientation.
I don't think it's necessarily inborn, or completely unchanging for everyone. I also don't think the same factors apply for everyone. I think a lot of different things can be true for different people, all at once, and it's not really useful to try to pinpoint a specific, universal explanation for orientation.
Everyone has a different relationship to orientation and gender; everyone will be influenced differently by cultural factors, by their own ways of processing and understanding the world around them, by the ways different aspects of their culture, identity, personality, and inborn traits and how they all interact with one another, and sure, maybe even by biological factors and tendencies.
Trying to solve this puzzle for the entire world of diverse human beings isn't going to make it any easier to understand yourself. Focus on what this all means for you, personally, and accept that you will never, can never, fully and perfectly understand anyone else's internal world and workings. Things get a lot easier when you can let go of that & just appreciate the diversity of human experiences, y'know?

what if, one match while jamie's being a prick, winding up the opposing team like only he can, one of the guys on the opposite team takes their frustrations with him too far and takes a swing at him, making contact with his face before anyone can stop him. jamie goes down, and some of the richmond boys are pulling the other guy away while some stay behind to check on him. I'd imagine jamie would get taken off the pitch to get checked out, since it's a hit to the head. what do you think roy's and keeley's reactions would be?
When it happens, it happens quickly.
It's the third game of the season, and Jamie’s in rare form. Has been ever since training resumed after the summer break, really, somehow bringing his very best great teammate game and his prince prick of all pricks game to every match. Once he’d needed a signal; these days he just knows when it’s time to pass the ball and when it’s time to bear down on the goal like fucking Nemesis.
Like something’s settled in him, slid into place.
It’s fucking gorgerous to watch, Roy thinks, nodding approvingly as Jamie slides the ball back to Sam with a deft twist of his ankle.
Unsurprisingly, today’s opponents do not agree. It’s an even game, 2-2 with only ten minutes left to go, and when United takes the ball off of Bumbercatch and initiates their own attack (fortunately ending in the ball going over the sidelines and a thrown-in for Richmond) that’s when Jamie decides it’s time to kick things up a notch and go full prick. Roy watches him jog up to United’s Westerly (whom he has been more or less been running circles around the entire match) and mutter something to him, grinning in that way that used to drive Roy up the fucking wall (still does on occasion), and Westerly—
—fucking swings at him, and before Roy can fully process what is happening Jamie’s down on the grass and players from all over the pitch is running over to hold Westerly back and hold Isaac back as he charges at Westerly and the sound of the whistle is shrill over the roars from the stands and there’s the red card and Sam and Dani are both kneeling by Jamie’s side as the rest of the two teams are either getting all up in each others faces or trying to pull each other away and Jamie is not getting up and—
Roy doesn’t realize that he’s moving before a firm hand on his arm holds him back. “Can’t go on the pitch, Coach,” Beard cautions. “Medic will check on him.”
Truthfully, Roy isn’t fully sure if he was moving to check on Jamie or to punch Westerly in the balls, but Beard’s calm voice cut through the red mist somewhat. He takes a deep breath, calling on the exercises Dr. Fieldstone has had him practising for the better part of the summer. They don’t help much, perhaps, but they do help.
The medical staff is already making their way over to Jamie and thank fucking God he’s rolling over on his back and seems to try to sit up only Sam’s holding him down. Looks like there’s blood on his face but if he’s moving then he’s not fucking dead, is he, or paralyzed and Roy doesn’t need to throw his career away to run over there and break Westerly’s fucking neck even though he can already imagine how fucking satisfying the sound of it snapping would be and—
Roy closes his eyes. Breathe in. Hold. Breathe out. Hold.
Football is a contact sport. Getting knocked down is all part of the game. Emotions run high during a match, all that adrenaline, and fuck knows Roy’s been fouled more times than he can count. He knows, too, that Jamie can take a hit as well as anyone – but that wasn’t just rough play gone a little too far, that was a deliberate fucking punch to the face and this isn’t fucking ice hockey, is it, that shit is not fucking on.
Even so, Roy’s surprised to realize how angry he is. After all, he’s punched Jamie in the face himself, and that wasn’t even half a year ago.
That was different, somehow. For one, Jamie didn’t need to be led of the pitch and sat down on the grass just a couple of meters away from Roy as Nate tells Roberts to get warm and is it really déjà vu if you know for a fact just what the situation reminds you off?
His phone buzzes. He pulls it out, mostly for a distraction while the medical staff try to stop the nosebleed and check Jamie for concussion.
A text from Keeley. Is he okay???
Before he has time to even begin typing an answer, she’s calling him, and he can’t not answer, can he? Not when he understands how worried she must be, stuck far above it all in the VIP box.
“Hey.”
“Is he all right?” She sounds breathless, tense.
He wonders if that ought to make him jealous. It doesn’t; if anything, it feels good that they’re in this together, just like it had back in Manchester when they conspired (badly) to bring Jamie out of his funk.
“I don’t know. I mean, he’s not fucking dead.” It comes out harsh, but he trusts that Keeley knows him well enough to know why.
“Are they not telling you what’s going on? You’re the fucking coach!” Harsh, but he knows Keeley well enough to know why.
“Have to let the medical staff do their job first. They’re still checking him out, can’t fucking crowd them.”
Jamie’s still sitting up, at least, and while he looks a little dazed he seems responsive enough to the medics’ questions. One of them glances over their shoulder at Roy, which Roy takes as an invitation to move over.
“Hang on,” he mutters into the phone before turning to the medic. “Well?”
“The nose isn’t broken,” she tells him. “We can’t rule out concussion yet, though, so he’s not going back out there. Besides, he’s still bleeding.”
Jamie looks like he maybe wants to argue but thinks better of it. Roy doesn’t know if that has anything to do with the quelling look he gives the younger man. I’m fine with him playing hurt, he’d told Ted not long ago, but Beard had had a point then, hadn’t he? And Dr. Fieldstone, too, when she’s gently but persistenly questioned how well pushing himself to just keep going through any and all pain had actually worked out for him.
“Yeah, okay,” Roy says, acknowledging the medic’s verdict with a jerk of his head. He glances over at Nate, who nods and motions for Roberts to go on.
Then Roy turns back to Jamie, only to find Jamie looking up at him, his face and shirt a mess of blood and dirty smudges.
“How are you feeling?” Roy asks. “Keeley wants to know too,” he adds, holding up his phone to demonstrate.
Jamie smiles a little at that, and Roy feels something in his chest loosen. “I’ll be fine, Coach, Keeley,” Jamie assures him – them. His voice is almost completely steady.
Roy nods sharply. “Yeah, you will.” He reaches down to squeeze Jamie’s shoulder, once. “Great playing out there today. It’s no wonder that fucking arsehole punched you, because there’s no other way he could ever have put a fucking stop to you, yeah?”
He’s rewarded with another smile, slightly bigger this time, and then the medical staff move to take Jamie away and Roy is walking back to the other coaches, speaking into his phone: “He’ll be all right. Might have a concussion, though.”
Keeley lets out a long sigh, almost like a sob. Roy can hear her tell Rebecca that Jamie’s going to be fine, and then she’s back in his ear, fear giving way to both fury and relief: “I’m still taking my stiletto heel to that fucking wanker Westerly if I ever get the chance. Do you think we should go to his place after the game, or should we bring him to mine? Jamie, I mean, not the wanker.” When Roy doesn’t immediately answer, she adds, “We have to watch over him, right? Make sure he doesn’t fall asleep or play video games or something?”
“Don’t think you actually have to do that,” Roy says, but before she can protest, he adds: “But yeah, of course we’ll fucking watch over him.”
Of course they fucking would.

Hello Angel, I wanted to apologize sincerely. I didn't know that doing what I'm doing was really rude and annoying. The person I send the fan story (kid Leo au) accidentally had already reached to me (I had forgot to do it anonymous) and "explained" me that what I'm doing is so inappropriate and I'm just doing it for the likes in other people's blogs and using their own content instead of being original and do my own, and also told me to not do it ever again. That you are only being nice because you didn't had how to reached out to me in private to talk about it. I just summarized all the things said.
I am really sorry, I didn't thought it was that bad. And I want to thank you for being a really nice person. I also thank the other person for letting me know about it. Once again I apologize 😔
-🌸
Sorry this took so long for me to respond to, I had to sit back and think a lot because hearing that someone said that to you actually made me so mad-
I LOVE READING THE STORY, LET ME SAY THAT FIRST, I GENUINELY ENJOY IT SO MUCH AND I GET SO SO SO EXCITED WHEN YOU SEND ME ASKS CAUSE IT'S SO SO SO FUN TO READ-
I personally LOVE when people send me asks like that, and I think it was a real shitty thing for them to say that to you. I understand why some people may not like it for their own content, but I enjoy it a lot.
You are not being rude at all to me, I promise. I genuinely enjoy reading your fan stories so much!
I'll be honest, I am not a nice person. If I didn't like it or didn't want people to do this sort of thing, I would have never answered your asks. When I get asks I don't like/don't want to answer I delete them (which tbh I don't think is me being an asshole I think it's my right-)
I promise it's not just me being nice, I am not that sort of person lmao-
SORRY IF THIS IS ALL SUCH A CONFUSING RESPONSE I AM JUST GETTING VERY MAD ON YOUR BEHALF BECAUSE EWIJRGIJFREJI I LOVE READING YOUR FAN STORIES AND YOU HAVE NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR!!!
aLSO ANOTHER THING BUT THE FACT THAT IT'S FOR THE SPINOFF COMIC MAKES ME SO SO SO HJAPPY BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A TON OF IDEAS FOR THE SPINOFF AND SEEING THAT I INSPIRED SOMEONE TO WRITE ABOUT IT IS SO FLATTERING AND AMAZING AND MAKES ME SAPPY FEEL GOOD
if the person that said that is reading this, they are in fact an asshole. And it really isn't any of their damn business <33333
TLDR: I DON'T THINK IT'S RUDE AT ALL IT'S ACTUALLY SO SO SO NICE TO GET YOUR FAN STORIES AND THIS PERSON IS AN ASSHOLE FOR TELLING YOU OFF
again sorry if this is very very rambly or whatever I just got like actually so pissed off on flower-anon's behalf while thinking about this-

idk maybe Him doesn't have a crush on Professor but it's funny to think about it, wouldn't be the last time a rosie cheeked demon lusted over a human *COUGH* Hide Away *COUGH*
Tumblr media
Verbalase doesn't have anything to do with the Powerpuff Girls. Did we forget that was a 50k fan animation or...?
Look I'm not here to question who Him or the Professor likes. I'm just questioning why you'd bring that up to defend your point when that has nothing to do with anything Powerpuff Girls related.

Jack (on a side adventure with Lizzie?) comes across some supernatural thing that even he isn't about to fuck around and find out about. Something insane like a wardrobe being guarded on a ship and he opens it and snow comes out.
♡ Hi, anon! Thank you dearly for this prompt. I had a great deal of fun playing with this today. ♡ -> askbox is open for prompts whenever
“We never should have sailed north of the Carolinas, Lizzie.”
Shivering like a wet dog, Jack trudges along a rocky beach at the heels of his Captain. He rubs at his elbows for warmth and lets out an ostentatious sneeze.
“You know I hate the cold,” he grumbles, his voice thick and snotty, “And the clouds. Where’s the sun? Feels like me bollocks are goin’ to freeze off…”
“Keep that up.” Elizabeth taps at the compass cradled delicately in her palm. She pauses, squinting at the twitching needle, and Jack catches up beside her.
“Huh?”
“You are being thoroughly annoying,” she informs him, “It’s stopping the compass from getting distracted by you.”
“Hm. Well, you’re welcome. Can we leave now?”
Her eyes roll irritably in his direction and she just walks onward, leaving him stewing in his bad mood. Jack stumbles on the unfamiliar terrain as he hurries after her.
“Do you truly think there will be something of value here?” he says, following her around the corner of a cliffside, “Seems like this rock is entirely devoid of anything shiny.”
“The compass seems to think so,” she replies, “I suspect it’s got something to do with the chalices. I’ve been wanting them terribly.”
“Compass doesn’t work like that.”
“Sure it does,” she says matter-of-factly, “When one learns to get a handle on one’s own desires, she can be incredibly responsive.”
Jack scoffs, unwilling to believe that Elizabeth could have mastered the compass that has been his uncertain guide all his life. They continue along the base of one of the myriad of cliffsides found in the scattered islands north of the British Isles until they come across a break in the rock formation. It is almost like a staircase of stone. It isn’t man made, but it looks simple enough to scale.
“Allow me, dearie,” Jack offers, stepping forward to take the lead as they climb.
“No, you stay behind me,” orders Captain Swann, hopping gracefully up onto the first ledge.
Of course, he should have known. If he is to take the lead, Elizabeth will be unable to discern if the compass is leading her to the treasure they seek, or in circles, following her dear old Jack. That gives him something to grin wickedly about as they ascend into the cliffside. Distracted by his own celebratory musings, he walks right into Elizabeth. They have reached the top of the cliff, where the ground is patchy with grass, and their anchored ship is visible in the distance. The captain has halted to look out at what they’ve found.
“Huh. A shortcut?”
Elizabeth approaches a large opening in the ground. She kneels at the edge and peers down, then takes a pebble and drops it into the pit. It sinks with a whistle of air, and a splash echoes upward.
“You aren’t actually thinking about going down there, are you?” asks Jack from where he stands at a safer distance.
“I was considering sending you down there.”
“Contrary to popular belief, I do not enjoy exploring massive, unfamiliar holes.”
Still, he cannot help his curiosity, and he steps forward to peer down as well.
“This must be the cave that they spoke of,” Elizabeth says thoughtfully, “You can hear the tide within. Seems like the compass just took us on the most direct route.”
As she contemplates the sea cave below, Jack is suddenly spurred by a spirit of mischief. He does not mean to push Elizabeth into the pit, really. When he jolts her shoulders, he is only trying to give her a lighthearted scare, perhaps providing more of that helpful annoyance she asked for. But she startles, and slips, and the fragile earth beneath them crumbles at the edges. Gasping, she grasps at his coat as she falls, dragging him down into the abyss with her. Their shrieks shatter the silence of the cave, surely alerting anything that dwells there of their presence before they splash into the water below.
The water there is dark emerald, illuminated by what Jack first thinks are some kind of gemstones. Until the gemstones move, and he realizes that the glow comes from the eyes of several creatures swirling past him underwater. Bubbles escape his mouth in a silent shout. He swims upward at top speed.
“Selkies!” he cries as he breaks the surface. Treading water, he spins about, searching for Elizabeth.
“I know!” Elizabeth calls back. Jack spots her a ways away, being guided to a dark shore within the cave by a large seal. “They’re nice!”
“No, they are not!” Jack splutters through his breaststrokes as he makes for shore, “They’re like mermaids, ‘Lizbeth. They’ll trick you!”
But she pays no heed to his warning, and ends up on the ebony sands just before he does. Several of her new selkie friends follow, and as they emerge from the water, their seal skin transforms into pale, naked, human forms. Their eyes, huge like saucers and darker than the Black Pearl, lock with Elizabeth’s inquisitive gaze. He hears her whisper, “Beautiful…”  as she extends a hand to one of them.
If Jack was cold before, he is positively turning to ice now. Drenched from head to toe, Jack wobbles to his feet and hurries to Elizabeth, tugging her away from the spell of the selkies. They hiss at him, exposing razor sharp teeth. Elizabeth yelps. Dozens of selkies within the water and on the shore all begin to circle the small strip of land upon which they stand, shivering with cold.
“Do you think they are guarding that?”
Elizabeth points further back in the cave. It seems that a bit of sunlight has broken the cloud cover and now shines through a small opening in the roof of the cave. The sliver of light reveals the remnants of a ship, wrecked and run aground.
“Lovely observation, Lizzie dear,” says Jack, checking that his sword is still strapped to his belt, “Now what do you say we leave them to their duty, shall we?”
Instinctively, they side-step until they are back to back, ready to draw their weapons and defend one another should the selkies use their teeth for more than just an unfriendly hiss.
“No!” Elizabeth protests in a near whisper, “I want to see what’s in there.”
“I expect more things that would love nothing more than to kill intruders such as you and I.”
“We don’t know that! They could be nice.”
“You almost became dinner for these things a moment ago.”
Jack groans, covering his eyes for fear of the sekies’ spell. He hears movement beside him and peeks between his fingers to see that Elizabeth is boldly approaching the creatures. As fond as he is for his darling captain, he considers making a break for it and leaving her to sort out her own questionable decisions.
“Hello!” greets Elizabeth, cheerily as she can muster to conceal the fear that Jack sees in her shaky smile. She gives a wave and holds up both hands in a sign of peaceful surrender. “Lovely to meet you all! And thank you very much for helping me to shore. I am Elizabeth Swann, Pirate Lord of the South China Seas and King of the Brethren Court.”
The selkies exchange looks and start to whisper among themselves in an unfamiliar tongue. Elizabeth casts a nervous glance at Jack, who is becoming very distracted by the terrifying visions of beauty that surround him. Before he can run, two selkies slink out of the water and come up behind him, sliding their long, dainty arms around his shoulders. The tallest of the selkies, and perhaps the most stunning of them all, steps up to Elizabeth, who holds her ground.
“A woman king?” inquires the selkie in a melodic voice. Briefly in awe, Elizabeth blinks a moment before answering.
“Indeed, I am.”
“And this man here– We saw him push you into the water. Would you like us to kill him for you?”
“That was entirely accidental!” Jack calls out, struggling against the creatures and their pointy nails, “An awful misunderstanding really! Now if you’ll just kindly call off your ladies we can—”
Elizabeth shoots him a glare and holds up a hand to silence him, then smiles sweetly at what might be the selkie clan’s leader.
“That is very kind, but no, thank you!”
“Oh. Is he your… consort?”
“Yes. I- I mean– no. Not exactly. He is more like my second in command. And I would like to keep him around. I do apologize for our intrusion. I can assure you we mean no harm.”
“A pirate that means no harm?” says the leader, tilting her head. The other selkies let out a chorus of taunting laughter that makes Jack squirm.
“Yes,” Elizabeth insists, “We mean you no harm.”
“In our experience, pirates are liars who befoul our homes and slaughter our children.”
The selkie leader’s anger is palpable. Elizabeth takes one step back, shuddering as a cold wind blows through the sea cave.
“Those pirates are not our allies,” says Elizabeth, choosing her words carefully, “And I will make certain that any pirate who lives by the Code of my Brethren shall never harm you, or any of your children...”
Jack winces. That sort of grandiose promise does not sound like something that could be easily enforced. But perhaps these are just words. Perhaps Elizabeth has seen sense and, like him, wants to get as far away from these isles as—
“...All I ask is to be permitted onto that ship you guard.”
Bugger. Jack drags a hand down his face and groans again. If he ends up gnawed to death by a gorgeous seal-lady, he swears he will have a nasty message for William when the Dutchman comes to retrieve his soul.
“That  ship?” The selkie leader inclines her head toward the back of the cave. Elizabeth nods.
“I believe there might be something there that I am seeking. That is all we have come here for.”
A disarming smile graces the selkie’s face, and her red lips stretch over teeth like sharpened pearls. She advances on Elizabeth, and Jack holds his breath, fearing that he is about to watch the gruesome demise of someone quite dear to him. Instead, the creature takes Elizabeth’s face in both her hands.
“You are a very interesting Pirate King indeed. Have you been blessed by the sea?”
Elizabeth’s lips part and her eyelashes flutter. It might be magic that has her entranced, or she might just be enraptured by this supernatural beauty. Jack can barely hear her say,
“In a way, I am married to the sea.”
Her response pleases the leader, who touches her lips to Elizabeth’s forehead.
“Then you have our blessing as well.”
As the selkie leader draws back, Jack sees that Elizabeth’s face is bright pink, either from the cold, or that blessing. She and the selkie leader share a saccharine smile that Jack does not understand in the slightest.
“Whatever it is that you seek is none of our concern. That ship is all that remains of a crew of men who failed to defeat us. We do not guard it. It is yours to explore.”
And that is that. The leader calls off her fellow selkies, who retreat into the water and into the darkened corners of the cave. Jack scurries after Elizabeth, who heads straight for the shipwreck after graciously thanking the selkies. Together they shimmy up a splintering column of wood and nearly collapse onto the first deck they reach, which seems to be a captain’s quarters.
“Well, that was—”
“What the fuck  did you do that for?” hisses Elizabeth, her teeth chattering now, “We were lucky enough that they d-didn’t kill us, but our wet clothes may very well s-send us to our graves!”
With trembling hands, she opens up the compass again. She gives it a shake and lets out an exasperated sigh.
“It’s spinning like mad now. What I w-want m-most in this world is t-to get warm!”
Jack wraps her hands in his and rubs them together. When that fails to generate any real warmth, he gently takes back his compass and she hugs herself.
“Let me try…”
Though it wouldn’t surprise him if the compass’s needle pointed him in the direction of the equator. He told  her that he hated going north, and for good reason. Jack rises to his feet and starts to pace the dusty old cabin. The needle settles and he turns to where it points.
“Ah! How about this for a heart’s desire!”
He stands before a large wardrobe, and to his delight, it is unlocked. Some sort of clothing must be inside, he hopes. Anything dry would do them good for now. However, something strange seems to emanate from the knobs. He hears Elizabeth come up behind him as he tugs open the doors. He expects the wardrobe to be full of dust. What tumbles out is a shock, to say the least. Heaps of powdery snow avalanche out onto his boots, and a cloud of the stuff goes fluttering outward as though an icy winter wind has been released from the depths of the wardrobe. He turns to Elizabeth, his dreads and facial hair covered in snowflakes.
“Captain Swann?”
“Yes?”
“May I suggest we get the hell out of here?”
Blinking away snow from her lashes, Elizabeth nods fervently. Jack steps back, kicking ice and snow from his boots, and something catches his eye.
“Oh…? What’s this?”
The cold bites at his bare hand as he stoops to reach into the heap. There, glinting beneath this bizarre indoor snowfall, is one of the two silver Chalices of Cartagena. Precisely what they have been searching for. He hands it to Elizabeth for her to marvel at. Then he snaps his compass shut and kisses it gratefully.
“Incredibly responsive. Seems this blasted thing knew where she was taking us after all!”

if ur still doing the writing meme (i've liked all ur answers even the 'unpopular' ones a haikyuu fic i loved once got rewritten and i'm still sad i never saved the first one because i didn't realize the author didn't like it and i wish i'd commented more or sth to make them know we loved the og so much) -> 13 and 34 plz
Ahh I'm sorry you went through that anon re: the Haikyuu! fic. Please don't guilt-trip yourself for it. Authors have lots of reasons for rewriting a fic, or deleting a fic, and sometimes even when it's had thousands of kudos they will still do it.
It sounds like you commented in general (since you say 'commented more' instead of just commented) which is like... really awesome. Who knows, maybe the author thought they were giving you the better version! You can always leave a comment and ask if they still have the original chapters on file somewhere if that author's still active, and if they'd be willing to share them with you somehow.
Now to the meme:
13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?
I was going to answer this with 'easy, everything I don't write' lmao because I just avoid the stuff I find hardest. But that's kind of...not the point. So in all seriousness:
Big ensemble scenes with big ensemble casts. I don't know why I insist on writing these a fair bit, but anything that has more than two characters in a scene is a struggle. More than four is like 'OH GOD.' It's just a lot of work in a different kind of way.
Happy endings. It's not that they're difficult to write, exactly, it's that I'm often...kind of sad to be letting go of the story and I feel like I've already let it go at the point that I'm writing the happy ending. Like, I am not happiest when I'm writing the happy ending, though I want it to feel really really good for readers. I love happy endings, but I also get really noticeable lag and slow down a bit towards the end of stories, because I have less motivation. An ending means letting go of that version of the world, or that installment, and my brain is like 'dun wanna.'
Beginnings/openings. I don't really enjoy the first few pages of a first chapter and I know I'm not often good at beginnings which further preys on my 'everyone is going to hate this story' insecurity I have at the beginning of a new thing.
Action scenes used to be in this but they're not as much anymore. But I do really struggle with sex scenes too! And I think that's a reason I don't write them as much as I used to. It's not a bad thing, one of the reasons they're harder is because I want them to be good and I just don't want to do carbon copies of previous sex scenes and I've now written like 200 of them.
As for things I find easy, hmm. I'm going to go with broadscale characterisation and dialogue. I also think generating character and place names is really easy, and inventing species to populate a new world is easy. I also think describing nature is easy for me, though I sometimes feel silly or like...I'm boring people when I describe it, so I try not to do it toooo much.
I'm bad at writing description but hilariously I don't find it difficult. x.x Maybe that's why I'm bad at it.
34. Thoughts on the Oxford comma, Go:
*takes a breath*
Since you don't mind unpopular opinions I hope you don't mind this one: I fucking don't rate the Oxford Comma and try to avoid using it wherever possible. It's really easy to avoid some of the errors an Oxford Comma can prevent through context, and frankly, the Oxford Comma can create its own issues which can be prevented through not using it. You can avoid or introduce ambiguity whether you do or don't use it, basically, one solves some problems and introduces others, the other solves some problems and introduces others.
In that sense, it's understandable why it's not mandated in many style guides. It is preferable in US English, but damn, I'm not from the USA. And the Oxford Style Guide recommends it but the Oxford Style Manual recommends against it. Australian Style Guides, including the one issued by the government, generally oppose its use, but it's not mandated, so it's really at the author's discretion.
I've tried using it. Like, I've sat down and thought 'right I'm going to give this a good shot' and I just really don't like it. So you'll see a handful here and there in my writing where I thought 'okay let's try it' and then just been like nahhhh.
I have no problems with other people using it, and those people can have all the extra commas I'm not using because damn, they'll need them. :D

in the novel why claude so refuses to let Athy leave the palace alone? I remember that Claude did not allow athy to leave the Palace and every time she asked him to go to a tea party he always refused very strongly, even after athy returned to it he still had a hard time allowing athy to leave the palace alone.
I don't think there's another reason other than Claude being very, very overprotective of Athy.
To be fair, Athy had... more than a couple of near-death experiences (some of them because of Claude's own fault lol), so I can understand him to a certain extent. Plus she's a princess, the only princess and heir to the throne, so her going outside of the palace is a pretty risky thing, overprotectiveness aside. And Athy made it a point that she didn't want to go with guards, so despite her being a magic user and being more than capable of taking care of herself (as proven by her surviving for... months? outside of the palace during the amnesia arc), it still would be dangerous.
But a thing that I really liked about Claude and Athy's relationship development in the novel was that, when Athy returns and Claude still didn't have his memories back, she is like "okay, this kind of dynamic can't go on, I'm going to be more independent and you are going to have to trust me and be okay with it". And so she has her own birthday party (Claude being uninvited lmao) and goes outside of the palace. Of course, Claude is uneasy about it, but he lets her do it anyways, since he'll give Athy whatever she wants. Athy says that she wants to change their broken relationship and build trust between them, have an actually healthy father-daughter bond (this is a very mature thing of her to do just after going through incredibly traumatic events).
It's not the same as the manhwa scenes when Claude apologizes to Athy and cries, or when he opens up to her before the coronation, but I think that narratively they serve the same purpose of moving forward their relationship, and them finally being honest with each other. For me, they are the natural conclusion to Claude and Athy's arc in both versions, because WMMAP's main point is that family relationships take effort and time, they require mutual understanding and honesty. Real love is not just a thing automatically granted by blood ties or magic, that is a naïve notion that the narrative goes very against of and actively calls out.
In the novel scene, Athy then says that she'll always tell Claude beforehand when she plans of going outside, and that she'll always come back. As long as Claude waits for her, she won't disappear forever, because that is her home. "Where you are is where I should return to", because he would always be her dad, and she would always be his daughter.
From my point of view, Claude's overprotectiveness of Athy comes from his lonely life and fear of abandonment. Diana promised to be with him forever, and yet she died and left him alone. Athy almost died more than once too. He fixiates on her good bye to him at the debutante because of that, and he is afraid of Athy growing up and building her own family in the manhwa for that very same reason. Claude is terrified of Athy leaving him behind, in one way or another. It's understandable, considering his backstory and characterization, and that's also why I find it so beautiful that Athy takes it into her hands to reassure him that such thing won't happen. In both novel and manhwa, she takes the initiative of building real trust between them, while also demanding that Claude apologizes for hurting her and that he changes his unhealthy behavior, and reaffirming her own independence (not asking for it!).
I know this is probably not where you wanted the conversation to go, but I couldn't help myself. Their development is one of my favorite things about WMMAP.

How do you want to be a man if you already are a man? Is there a level 2? Do you aspire to be He-Man?
Gdjdgks fair question! I know I already am one but my loads of internalised transphobia tell me that somehow I'm not good enough at it :')

How does Josele's magic work in combat? Can she only use one emotion at a time or many?
Hiiii~! Hello there, Anon!
And aaaaahhhhh! I'm excited to received a question about an oc just out of the blue kjadhkhasrtui! THANK YOU~!
Okay so the main thing with Josele's magic is that she has the ability to generate elements based on the emotion(s) in her vicinity. Most of the spells in her grimoire that just boil down to "emotion = element."
Josele's magic creates elements based on whatever people are feeling around Josele. If there's multiple feelings going around, then she can switch between spells/elements. It's just that circumstances might not always allow for it.
If everyone around Josele is feeling a singular emotion, let's say fear, then all that Josele would be able to create is Wind Magic, since that's the emotion-element association of her spell.
But in the event that she's feeling courageous while someone else is feeling playful, then Josele could draw on the two feelings to generate Fire or Snow Magic from them.
(Slight tangent: Josele's magic isn't entirely dependent on the feelings of others at a given moment. She can draw out a certain emotion by focusing on memories or just things that make her feel whatever it is she needs to feel. [And she can also ask others to focus on bringing a given emotion out like "think about a happy/sad memory," you know?] But her spells are more powerful when they come from emotions that are already happening naturally.)
Anyways.
There's also the ability to cast two spells simultaneously (seen with people like Yuno, Noelle, and Yami and I'm sure a few others). It takes a decently skilled mage to dual cast and since I'd like to believe Josele is competent enough with her magic, I'd say it's possible for Josele to cast two spells using different emotions at the same time. However, Josele finds it much easier to focus her mind and magic on converting one emotion at a time. So while she can do it, she chooses not to more often than not.
TL;DR: Josele is capable of switching between her emotions-to-elements spells and dual casting spells, but she might not always be able to.

please share the thoughts
agatha being this carefree and curious witch who explores magic for fun but once you show her the darkhold it twists that curiosity into an obsession with power that grows stronger every night you meet her 😵‍💫
also, demonstrating certain spells on her and in turn allowing her to practice them on you 😏🤤
-👻
Let me know if you want the alternative thoughts I had that were sparked by your ask as well! ❤️
Warnings: contains minor smut, mentions/allusion of abuse
You realizing how vulnerable Agatha is when she one day shows up sobbing on your doorstep about not being good enough.
"maybe you're just not being allowed to practice the right sort of witchcraft"
Poisoning her against her mother, slowly and carefully.
It shouldn't be very hard, but Evanora (quite literally as you eventually learn) had beaten Agatha into submission, doing her best to mold Agatha into who she thinks her daughter ought to be.
Agatha thrives off of learning dark magic
It calls to her in a way other witchcraft hasn't
She also has a budding crush on you
At first she thought it was the new form of witchcraft, that it just simply makes one feel like they're on fire and desperate to be touched
Turns out, it's just you
She figures it out when she finally gets brave enough to practice dark magic alone
After realizing this, she becomes an adorable mess for you, constantly tripping over her words and feet, blushing whenever you brush against her
She's not very subtle, you pick up on it fairly easily
So you find an excuse to 'help' position her, and you can hear how her breath catches as your front brushes up against her back
"you know, you just had to ask for me to touch you like this, you don't need to pretend to need help getting your body into the right position"
Agatha is stuttering trying to deny it, but when you give her neck an open mouthed kiss her own moan cuts her off
"there are some spells we haven't talked about, I didn't think you'd be interested, but now..."
"what spells?"
"pleasurable ones"
Agatha asks you to demonstrate, she doesn't quite believe you
You predict her needs and tell her to hold onto your shoulders, turning her around, before flicking a hand
Agatha's knees buckle as you magically stimulate her, her mouth opening wide in a big 'o'
She's always been innocent in most other things before, like magic and her understanding of the world, and this is just one more thing you take and claim for yourself, guiding Agatha forward on the dark path you've set for the two of you to share
You don't let up the spell until her eyes roll up and she collapses
She awakens in your bed, surrounded by the scent of you
She realizes it's because you're holding her against your chest, lightly dozing
She gently shakes you awake
"can I do that to you"
You smile at her, before asking her if she wouldn't rather undress you first
Agatha's eyes are big and round and so full of want and lust
They're pits ringed with ocean blue
You direct her to leave bruises and hickies as she slowly rids you of your clothes
"don't be scared of hurting me. I want you to mark me"
She gets rough fast, and surprises you by biting sharply into your skin, hard enough to draw blood
When she realizes she rushes to apologize but stops when you let out an unrestrained moan
Needless to say practicing dark magic quickly falls to the wayside for a few weeks while you learn each other's bodies and how to being the other the most amount of pleasure possible
You start to incorporate teaching her dark magic into it once you realized how hooked she is
"you're really just a slut, aren't you" you'd laugh, teasing as Agatha desperately whines "so willing to do anything I say as long as you get to have my fingers or tongue buried in you"
One day Agatha comes storming in, furious and angry
"someone's having a bad day"
"shut up"
You raise a brow. "Is that how you speak to me?"
"I said shut up"
You appraise her before you find the answer you're looking for
You get on your knees
Agatha is startled
"I- what?"
"you need to blow off some steam." You explain. "And to feel like you can control something. So use me. Tell me what to do, and I'll listen. I'll be your perfect fuckdoll."
Agatha doesn't want to admit how wet that makes her, but goddess is she dripping
"unless of course you want to continue to give up contr-"
You're cut off by Agatha squeezing your cheeks painfully, jerking your head up to meet her gaze.
"I thought I told you to shut up, bitch"
You're unbearably turned on by the dark look in her eyes
You do your best to nod, and Agatha smiles sharply as she lets go of you
It won't always be like this, you won't always let Agatha be in charge, but if it'll help further push her to become the darkest possible version of herself that you could see? You'd gladly pay any price as long as she stayed yours.
When she's brutally fucking into you with three of her fingers, it happens. Your magics connect on an intimate level, and you both peak at the exact same split second as Agatha's magic feeds off of yours, utter ecstasy coursing through the two of you
"more" Agatha gasps once she's able to draw breath into her lungs. "I need more."
She craves the dark magic now, can feel how powerful it is as it courses through her
"feed off of the darkhold" is what you say. Magic like that is so saturated in darkness that if Agatha were to do it she'd never be able to turn away from the dark magic
She'd also never be able to turn away from you, from the high your once pure magic can give her that the book can't, something you ensured by carefully ensuring there will always be a part of your magic that goes whole and untouched
It's not any wonder to you when the next month Agatha stumbles into your room in the middle of the night, babbling about how she accidentally killed her entire coven, how her mother's corpse now lays rotting in the middle of the forest
You guide her to lay down, and she doesn't realize what you're doing until you thrust into her, having fashioned a strap on out of magic, and she can't help the way she moans, how her eyes roll as you manage to somehow stroke that spot deep inside her
"you might not want to admit it" you whisper against her lips "but you're dripping wet. I'm willing to bet it's because murdering people turns you on"
And Agatha hates how right you are, hates that she realized how arousing it was to consume not just another's magic, but their life magic, hates how close she is from it all
She cries as she comes undone around you, she cries as she begs you to continue to make her body feel good, cries as she thinks about how she doesn't regret the deaths, but regrets her lack of ability to be good
She cries as she wishes she had more witches to feed on, cries because she wants the power so badly it hurts, and cries as she asks you to infuse her blood into the darkhold so she can fill the void that now sings inside her, demanding to be fed
You kiss every tear away, whispering reassurances and promises and
"use it. Use their deaths as a sacrifice to the god Chthon and ask that he bless you with more power"
After that, Agatha is no long quite human. But neither are you, as she had insisted the both of you be blessed, since you're the one to have helped her, the only person to love her as she is, and not as who you wanted her to be (what Agatha doesn't know won't hurt her)
And the death of an entire coven, one that Agatha was bound to by blood? A worthy sacrifice indeed.
Agatha is insatiable after that, constantly needing you, and you find yourself absolutely loving how desperate she is, how it gives you a thrill every time you remember how innocent she once was and how it was your guiding hand that corrupted her into a creature of your own doing
"you're perfect" youll tell her
"and you, my love, are without flaw" she'll purr back
And there is not a single person able to convince either of you otherwise

i have been stuck in a cycle of rereading ur postgame fic over and over and over ever since it's release it's SO good........ i understand if u r writing up more to it and so don't want to disclose but i am dying to know more abt ur takes on both postgame as a whole and what's going on with each of the survivors..... if u wouldn't mind sharing, ofc :3
!!!! thank you so much, i'm so happy you enjoyed it. i do want to keep some stuff secret (partially bc i'm still fleshing out ideas myself) but i can share some stuff about the survivors!
hajime: so i'm not the biggest fan of hajime and izuru being separate personalities, but i do like them being perceived as such. hajime and izuru are one and the same, but the person he was as izuru and the person he was even before then are perceived as different to the others, they'll keep make excuses for him and claiming that wasn't him, but he has to learn to accept that he was the person who did those things, that there isn't a separate entity in his brain to blame. a lot of his journey is going to be about discovering the type of person he wants to be in his future and whether he even can be that person, or if his brain is too altered to understand the imperfections of happiness.
i don't want to say much about akane, fuyuhiko, or kazuichi yet. what i will say is that their journey of healing begins with the physical, and the mental gets pushed to the side for way too long. i can see Queen Sonia, Who Is Above All, and izuru kamukura taking care of themselves during the Tragedy, which is why they're some of the only ones to come out unscathed (not including nutrition deficiencies from being in the NWP pods). the other survivors aren't that lucky, so they have to overcome being weak before they can fully focus on the sins of their past and the futures they want. akane is the most malnourished, kazuichi has suffered so much damage to his limbs creating the monokumas and death traps in unsafe work environments, and fuyuhiko gave up his views of the world for those of a tyrant (literally lol bc. his eye. yknow?). how do they even begin to cope with the people they've chosen to become? how do they begin to cope with all they've lost physically and in their lives?
sonia: the next section i'm writing is about sonia actually! so i'll just share a snippet of that :)
When she had first woken up, Makoto and Kyoko had been there to help her, slowly lifting her upper body so she could sit up. She trusted them, of course she did, but who she really wanted to see was Hajime. Hajime, who had shone so brightly at the end of it all, who had overcome a despairing truth in order to help them all, who had lit a path to the future for his friends.
In that moment, she had seen the sort of person she had always wanted to be. Being a princess, born to be a queen, there was a lot of expectation for her to be the perfect leader. No matter who she asked, however, nobody could ever define what that really meant. Was perfection being an absolute authority? Being completely open to every request from her people? Maybe it was letting others do all the work and just smiling and waving, presenting a facade of peace when there was none. Or, worst of all, maybe it was being cruel, crushing all that stood in her path and ruling with an iron fist.
No. She had tried that last path, and now had no kingdom at all to rule. The princess, born to be a queen of perfectly nothing. Still, Sonia was a ruler at heart, a leader and guide to those around her. Before the others woke up, she knew she would need to define for herself again what the perfect leader was. All of these thoughts had run through her mind in the five seconds it took for Makoto and Kyoko to lift her to a sitting position, the detective hiding a smile as her partner babbled on about how great it was to see her awake, how much work they had to do, how happy he was to meet her in person. Sonia barely heard his words at the time, her eyes darting around the room of glowing pods, looking for that perfect leader to learn from. She had wanted to see Hajime.
