Dangerous Romance is peak comedy

I got 99 problems, but Dangerous Romance ain't one. It feels like a Thai version of Another Gay Movie because it is squeezing in all the tropes yet taking none of them seriously, which is not a problem in my book.

Not a Problem #1 - Nava & Guy making everything into a competition including turning on the faucet. They got that Love Mechanics color-coded lighting treatment, and that's all I care about.

Not a Problem #2 - The Poor Boys treating the Rich Kids like the dogs they are by threatening punishment if they act up and dropping "good boy" casually into the conversation when they do good deeds, then rewarding them. It's puppy play meets praise kink, and I approve of it.

Not a Problem #3 - How Sailom's friends, especially Guy, thought Kanghan was trying to poison them, yet still drank with Nava because if he was going to die, he was going to die the champion.

Not a Problem #4 - Kanghan not knowing how to express what he is feeling when Sailom questions him after the kiss and expecting the kiss to speak for itself. He thought he was speaking Sailom's love language, but Sailom is clearly an "acts of service" type, while Kanghan is a "words of affirmation" guy.

Not a Problem #5 - Characters using the bathroom! Every episode, someone goes to the bathroom or uses it as an excuse to escape a dinner where they cannot make eye contact with the boy who kissed him in the bathroom because the kiss was a C- at best and he doesn't know how to tell him that without making him cry since he has a praise kink, and I appreciate it.

Not a Problem #6 - Kanghan saying that he sucks.

Not a Problem #7 - Kanghan stating he has to keep trying because practice makes perfect.

However, not long after Bradley Bradshaw's 18th birthday, he was burying his mom and losing the man that he claimed to be his second father.

Bradley had never felt more alone in his life as he sat at a party one night. On top of losing his mother and uncle, his girlfriend had also cheated on him. He sat on the couch in some random high schoolers house during a party, and watched as his ex made out with his best friend. Bradley didn't think his life could get any worse.

"You look like shit, Bradshaw," Bradley looked over his shoulder seeing her lean over the back of the couch. Y/N Mitchell, Bradley's best friend. He smiled at her and shook his head.

"Tough week," Bradley said, and took a sip from his drink, "Where have you been?" Y/N shrugged and climbed over the back of the couch, plopping down next to him.

"Visiting my mom down south," Y/N's mom had disappeared on her when she was younger. They slowly started patching up their relationship when her father got sent overseas, again, "She sends her condolences."

Bradley grumbled a 'thanks'. He didn't like talking about his mother, the wounds of losing her was still fresh. Y/N gave him a sad smile, and rubbed his arm.

"Sorry about Monica too," Y/N nodded her head towards the girl who looked like she was about to swallow her boyfriend's face, "Never liked her."

"Well sorry about Greg," Bradley said, and nodded towards the same area, "He looks happy with her. I guess that's a plus."

"Look at us, Bradshaw and Mitchell, striking out in the love department. . . yet again."

"Sounds like our dads," Bradley joked and Y/N giggled next to him.

As much as he hated Pete Mitchell, he could never hate Y/N. She was his best friend, the one person he could turn to when he needed a shoulder to cry on. They had grown up together, their mothers being friends and their fathers being a flying pair. When her mother ditched her for some younger man, Carole taught Y/N all she needed to know, and helped raise her, and Maverick did the same for Bradley.

When the feelings for Y/N started, Bradley wasn't sure. Could've been after the last time Greg cheated on her, and she showed up on his doorstep in tears. Bradley hated how much Greg hurt her and how she would go back to him. He had yelled at her for the first time in his life and told her how dumb she was for going back to Greg over and over. Bradley had told her he loved her, and as soon as those words had slipped out of his mouth, he knew it was more than just platonically.

"Wanna play a game?" Y/N suggested.

"Sure," Bradley said, stretching out his limbs.

"Okay, it's simple," Y/N smirked, and explained the game.

About an hour later, Bradley Bradshaw and Y/N Mitchell were walking drunkenly back to her house. They had to lean against each other to keep themselves up, and were singing "You Lost that Loving Feeling" as loud as they possibly could. They stopped in front of her house, and Y/N sighed.

"He's gone still?" Bradley asked.

"He's always gone," Y/N said, "Wanna come in? He quit checking the liquor cabinet when I turned 16."

Bradley laughed and nodded, following her inside the small blue house. Pictures of Pete, Y/N and her mother lined the walls of the house. Bradley wasn't shocked that Pete hadn't taken the pictures down, the old man loved to live in the past. Bradley's brown eyes landed on the picture of himself, his mother and his father from the days before Goose's death in Miramar. Bradley doesn't even remember much about that day, just that two officers had shown up to the house, and his mother let out a scream.

"Hey," Y/N said, and walked up next to Bradley, who was frozen in front of the fireplace, looking at the mantle. Her eyes looked at the same picture and she frowned, "What's on your mind?"

"A lot," Bradley sniffled and looked at her, "I wonder if I'll ever find a love like my mother and father."

"Oh I think you will," She placed her hands on his shoulder, and on instinct Bradley wrapped an arm around her waist, "You look just like your father, and have your mother's mannerisms, you'll find someone, and they'd be stupid to do what Monica did to you."

"You'll find someone too, ya know," Bradley said and Y/N chuckled.

"I'm like my dad, I can't be tied down. I got the need for speed."

"I know you do," Bradley said, looking into her eyes. There was something about that look, and maybe it was the help of the alcohol in their systems, but they both leaned in slowly. Bradley let out a breath as he placed a hand on her cheek, and rubbed the soft skin, before connecting their lips.

It was just a simple kiss, but that kiss had just changed everything. Y/N pulled back and looked at Bradley, and she nodded, letting him know that it was okay. Bradley shifted her in his arms, so he could wrap his arms around her. Y/N's hands went to cradle Bradley's face, getting lost in his hair as she pulled on it slightly. The kiss was hot, and less reserved than the very first one. Bradley pulled at her body, bringing her in as close as he could get her.

"Jump," He said against her lips, tapping at her thighs. She wrapped her legs around his waist, and Bradley moved instinctually down the hall towards her room. He laid her down on the bed, and leaned back, grabbing the hem of his shirt and taking it off. He froze, looking at the picture of a 13-year old Y/N and her parents.

Y/N looked up at Bradley and then at the picture. She flipped the picture down and Bradley chuckled.

"You've always been trouble," He said, and leaned back to kiss her.

That night had been weeks ago. The night that Y/N and Bradley had crossed that boundary of being just friends. They had hardly even talked to each other, in fact, Bradley had left in the morning while Y/N was still sleeping. He didn’t regret it, neither one did, they just weren’t sure what it exactly meant, or what to do next. Their lives were going to take a very different path, Bradley was going to UVA, then flight school and Y/N was going to go to art school in California.

But now, as she sat in her bathroom, her head in her hands and a positive pregnancy test on the ground, she saw everything crashing down around her.

How they had been so careless to forget a condom, she didn’t know. Y/N was on birth control, something her mother had encouraged her to get on when she started dating Greg, but recently switched it. She didn’t even stop to think that there was a possibility that she could get pregnant. Leaning her head against the wall, she wondered what Carole would do if she was in her place.

Carole wouldn’t be in this situation, dumbass, cause she’s smarter than you, Y/N thought to herself, and pushed the negative thoughts out of her mind. Carole would also tell the father as soon as it happened, like you should.

Y/N grabbed her phone from the counter, and went to her contacts. She stared down at her three emergency contacts, one was Carole, obviously, another was her dad and the last one was Bradley. She sighed, and pressed Bradley’s contact, pulling up his text messages.

Y/N: 9-1-1

Bradley: I’m on my way. What do you need?

Y/N: just you, please.

Y/N paced the floor of her living room as she waited for Bradley to arrive. She halted as she heard the screeching of his bronco into the driveway, and watched as he ran up the walkway and then barged into the house, out of breath.

“You’re whole? You said 9-1-1, I expected blood and guts,” Bradley said, still heaving for air.

There were guts, I threw them all up, She thought, “No, not that kind of 9-1-1.”

“Well, what’s the emergency?” Bradley asked her.

Y/N opened and closed her mouth several times trying to find the right words. The second Bradley saw her bottom lip quiver, he was pulling her in for a tight hug. She let out a sob as he held her close, cradling the back of her head, something his mother used to do when he would cry from the nightmares about his father. Bradley rubbed her back with his other hand, and shushed her with sweet nothings in her ear.

“Breathe baby, or you’ll pass out,” Bradley said. The pet name fell so naturally from his lips, he was used to people calling her Baby, either himself or his mother, or Maverick, “Wanna sit down?” Y/N nodded her head, and Bradley pulled back, walking her over to the couch. Y/N sat down with a sigh, and Bradley next to her. He grabbed her hand and gave it a squeeze, “Tell me what’s wrong, baby.”

“Bradley I. . . I'm pregnant.”

Bradley felt his heart stop beating and fall straight to his stomach. He could remember all the times Carole would tell him to be safe about sex. He thought at the time it was hella embarrassing when he’d walk into his bathroom and see a box of condoms underneath his sink. He had unprotected sex before, and pregnancy scares before, but the girls always started their period that very next day or even the same day. But he knew from Y/N’s body language and the look on her face, this wasn’t just a scare.

“You want to be a pilot,” Y/N said, “You have been non stop talking about it since you were four and you dressed up as your dad for Halloween. Your life has been geared towards that, not being a dad at 18-”

“Things can change,” Bradley said, “My plan was always to go to the academy like my dad but look where I am. . . headed to fucking University of Virginia,” Y/N laughed and shook her head. Bradley grabbed her face gently, and made her look at him, “This is shocking, and not going to lie, a bit fucking terrifying, but I’m not leaving you. Not now, not ever. It would take a missile in the sky to take me away from you.”

“Don’t say that, oh god, now you got me all nervous and-”

Bradley cut her rambling off with a kiss on her lips, “I’m sorry, Baby. But I was just tryna let you know. . . I’m here for the long hall. I’ll figure something out about school. If I have to take a year off to be with you, then I will.”

“You mean it? You’re not gonna run?” He could see the fear in her eyes. Her mother had run on her when things got hard and Bradley had watched it first hand tear her apart. He was not about to let that happen to her or their child.

More not so incorrect Ortus thoughts. I’ll preface this by saying, I understand Harrow’s behaviour is a trauma response and she deserves empathy and understanding. In Harrow the Ninth, Harrow reverts to how she was before Canaan House due to the muddled timeline. She’s back to being awful, acerbic and fully convinced she is surrounded by cretins. (Stuff such as thinking flesh magic is pedestrian, the horror at being mistaken for anyone who could find meat interesting, sneering at anyone who could find meat interesting.)

Like it strikes me how insufferable, how patronizing and condescending she really is towards Ortus. We get a glimpse of how she treated him waaaaay before the muster was called. Though she has a wicked biting sense of humour, its still mean

She genuinely believes that she’s successfully pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes with the puppet show because she's soooo smart n they’re so dumb. Its alluded to when she talking to Ortus about his father, she says almost surprised. "You knew?"

Not only did his friends die but afterwards his Father is perennially downcast for every after, possibly depressed -- murdering 200 kids will do that to a man -- but his Dad killed himself for them to boot. The Nona family take take take and this fetus has the cheek to believe he doesn’t have the intelligence of a root vegetable? His reply is one of the few times that Moira doesn't vocalise him as sad, you can hear it in her voice, the sheer contempt for this sour tongued, inconsiderate child lecturing him and talking down to him. "You are not the only person, My lady, who can put two and two together and get “four.”

Though he’ll never blame her or treat her with anything other than respect, all his friends, romantic prospects etc etc were murdered so she might be born. He's had to live and grow up alone, the Noniad is his coping mechanism and she constantly insults it. He too has to represent a generation of Niners and achieve something great.

As a sword swinging cav, he'll die and it shall be a waste. But a manuscript? It might last and will let people know the Ninth existed. He existed. And what they valued and stood for. The pen is mightier than the sword they say.

One day he had friends, went to school, was a kid, and the next he was the only teenager left alive. Imagine how devasting and lonely that must have been? The survivors guilt he must have suffered?

Imagine, a solitary child returning to a cavernous empty school hall, an abandoned black ball in left in the back of the football net, jackets that shall never be out grown hanging on pegs left to decay. A heavy empty silence where once there was light and life and the laughter of children. Fading memory and ghosts the only thing to keep him company.

The accusatory stares from the parents of those lost children, their resentment, rage, grief silent but caustic. Wondering why he was spared, knowing why he was spared.

The survivors guilt he must have suffered? (My heart, I cant!) God! All the lil teased together tidbits that ask you to think deeper about Ortus just kill me. We don't deserve him. Muir did a great job of making us dismiss him in the same way Harrow/Gideon did/does, only to bring him back n slap us with: Never judge a book by its cover, or assume you know someone's journey. Be freaking Kind!

Kansatoki slid her door open slightly, keeping quiet to eavesdrop on the scene happening across from her dorm.

"I'm telling you Todoroki the spider is SO big! I can't kill it though, it's just not right to kill an innocent bug so you have to freeze it for me and take it out!" Yume pleaded to Shoto who was trailing behind her as she led the way to her dorm.

"Ok, show me where it is," Shoto obliged, following Yume to her room.

Once inside Yume turned around and smiled at Shoto. Shoto scanned the room looking a bit confused at Yume's sudden change in demeanor as she seemed to not be concerned about a spider anymore.

"I uh, I don't see it," He said to her looking dumbfounded.

"Oh! Uh right, the spider- guess it ran away..." She said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Ok well, goodbye then," Shoto said and began to leave the room.

"Wait!" Yume exclaimed, grabbing his arm. "Why don't you stay here and hang out in case it comes back!" She suggested.

"That would be against school rules. I shouldn't be here," He replied plainly.

"Yeah but- I mean..." She trailed off desperately trying to find another excuse to get Shoto to stay.

"Just let me know if you see it again Hoshino," He said and made his way back to the elevator to go back to the common room.

Yume let out a big disappointed sigh as he left.

Once Shoto was in the elevator and no longer in earshot Kansatoki let go of the laughter she was suppressing, her dorm door flew open and she boomed with laughter.

"Oh stop!" Yume yelled at her.

"A SPIDER!? For fucks sake Yume! That was low even for you!" Kansatoki said, practically rolling on the floor with laughter.

Yume walked over and threw herself on Kansatoki's bed.

"UGH!" She screamed in frustration. "I don't know what to do Kansa!" Yume complained.

Kansatoki shut her dorm door and joined her friend sitting on the bed.

"How did you do with Bakugo?" Yume asked, looking at her friend.

"HU?!" Kansatoki exclaimed, her cheeks slightly blushing.

"Oh, don't play dumb. Me and Ashido have both heard him in your room pretty late. I don't care how quiet he tries to whisper that husky voice travels through walls you know," Yume replied, causing her friend to cross her arms.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Kansatoki replied defiantly.

"Oh come on, it's me," Yume said, shoving her friend's shoulder. "You can tell me."

"Yeah I know," Kansatoki said, softening up a bit.

"Just tell me your secrets, what should I do?" Yume pleaded with her friend for advice. By now she had tried several failed attempts at getting Shoto to hang out with her in her room, and even more failed attempts at trying to hang out in his.

"Just tell him your actual intentions. That you want to be alone with him," Kansatoki laughed and gave her friend a wink.

Yume covered her face feeling it flush, "Kansa I don't know," the thought of marching up to Shoto and being so blunt made her stomach flutter. "Is that what you did with Bakugo?" She asked, removing her hands from her face.

"What?! No!" Kansatoki said, her face flushing again.

"Then how do you expect me to!" Yume exclaimed.

"Look, obviously Todoroki is very different from Bakugo. He isn't going to pick up on hints. You're going to have to slap him with the honest truth for him to understand what is really going on." Kansatoki explained to her friend.

"UGH-!" Yume grumbled again in frustration.

"Hey don't blame me. I told you pretty boys were boring the moment you told me you liked him," Kansatoki replied to her friend's frustration.

"Right because the dumpster fire of a boy you like is soooo much better,"

"At least there is never a dull moment with him," Kansatoki said, sticking her tongue out at her friend. "I'm just saying you better confess your feelings fast, you chose to like the most popular boy in our class with the ladies. I've noticed other girls looking at him, you know." Kansatoki poked her friend playfully.

"Hmpf- must be nice for you not to have anyone look twice at Bakugo. In the words of Present Mic he has a face 'only a mother could love'," Yume laughed teasing her friend back.

"Hey cut it out, he's not so bad... besides no one knows him like I do," Kansatoki said, swinging her legs back and forth off the bed.

"I'm just messing with you," Yume said, smiling at her friend. "So, what other advice do you have for me then?" Yume asked.

"Hmm," Kansatoki placed a finger under her chin thinking. "Maybe make him jealous? Stop trying so hard with him and flirt with some other boys for a change," she said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Wouldn't that go over his head too?" Yume asked.

"Yeah probably," Kasnatoki said laughing.

"I know! Can't you get one of the other boys in on it?!" Yume asked, her eyes lighting up. "That way it's really obvious! He'll have no choice but to get nervous about it!"

"Yeah I mean, I'm sure I could get Kaminari to do it. That desperate boy would probably do anything a girl asked him. Plus he'd probably like the attention," Kanasatoki laughed.

"Thank you, Kansa! You're the best!" Yume exclaimed excitedly.

"Yeah yeah, no need to thank me," Kansatoki said waving her hand, as her phone lit up on the bed. Kansatoki grabbed her phone and checked her messages. "I'll tell Kaminari about our master plan tomorrow, I got some stuff to do tonight," Kansatoki said, standing up off her bed and walking to the door.

"Wait what-?" Yume said, sitting up on the bed. "Wait no way- Don't tell me! Was that Bakugo that just texted you!? Is that where you're going?"

Kansatoki just shrugged her shoulders playfully at her friend, "Ok byeee-," she said walking out of the room. Leaving Yume alone in the dorm.

yessss omg I agree completely! alina had absolutely no reason to trust the darkling and I hateeee when people say she was in the wrong for running away. she was 17 (in the books) and just found out that someone she'd previously trusted and looked up to was planning to enslave her power and use it to commit mass murder, like?? ofc she's going to get the fuck out!

also the darkling could have gained her trust more easily by being upfront about his plans but he didn't, which imo is a really damning piece of evidence against him - if he truly believed that what he was doing was right, surely he could have told alina in such a way that it would appear justified, right?

but yes absolutely the way some darkling fans treat alina as some dumb naive child for running away is soooo awful and I hate it sm especially when they act like they're alina fans??

Top 5 F1 ships

this is tougher to answer than i thought it'd be, solely bc i'm soooo focused on two ships that i can barely think of anything else. anyway! here's a top two+ three-pretty-ok-ships:

1. obviously, 4433 | lewis hamilton / max verstappen

it's got everything you ever need in a ship. rivalry, looking up to each other, being genuinely impressed, dumb jokes, heart eyes, always together on the podium (for a looong time), always greeting each other with a failed fistbump or a hug... this is a complicated ship due to the age gap, the negativities (the media drama), the constant fighting, but there's nothing more special than going through the epic highs and lows together, always finding the other guy waiting for you, breathing down your neck and then you're the one breathing down his neck. that push and pull, that cat and mouse game? unreal. this is a ship for connoisseurs and if you do not understand it, i can't blame you.

i could've easlily cheated my way through and put 3344 right under this one since i'm literally uncaring when it comes to who's top and who's bottom or who's dom and who's sub. that goes for any of the ships, btw. i'm too old for top/bottom discourse and since i swing both ways, everyone i write swings both ways.

2. nortrell | lando norris / max fewtrell

it may just be the complete opposite of 4433 in literally every way. but it's got that familiarity, that feeling of home they find in each other. but also the pain! the pain of lando living the dream that max would kill for to have. but also the acceptance, the compelte lack of jealousy. max does not want to be in lando's place, he wants to be beside lando. he doesn't want to have what lando has, because that'd mean lando doesn't have it. he wants to have it too. and this doesn't even touch on the codependency, the cutting meat for each other, the taking care of each other, the living together. max knowing when to talk about what with lando and when to not mention something. to defend lando on his stream, to vocalise the boundaries that lando doesn't say but does have. and also the ribbing, the not taking each other too seriously, the bullying -- they're just a safe haven for each other. a place where lando isn't mclaren's f1 driver lando norris, but just bob. a place where max isn't a streamer with a failed racing career hanging like a dark cloud above him, but just max. a place where they can be themselves, truly themselves. once again, a place where they can be home.

we're into pretty ok ships territory! these are ships i do not actively read and or write for, but when i see them together i go awww now hold hands!

3. norstappen | lando norris / max verstappen

a ship that never misses. great friends off grid, no tension between them, love to joke around, suuuuper supportive of each other (i didn't expct mclaren to be there, i always expect lando to be high). max likes to surround himself with people that don't admire him, that don't try to rub his ego, and lando would never. they don't take each other seriously! and also, whenever lando calls max, max answers and takes his time for him (like on stream multiple times). lando hops on whatever max is doing, like iracing, even after leaving redline. it's just good vibes all around!

4. piarles | pierre gasly / charles leclerc

tough one since i don't know all too much about either driver other than what i see other people talk about when it's in relation to drivers i do know a lot about. but! this is a cute ship. these guys always find each other, at a basketball game, on vacation, wrapping their arm around each other. good stuff, i love seeing homosexuality on main. it makes me happy that they're utilising their mediterranean nature to full gay extent! love seeing it.

5. maxiel | max verstappen / daniel ricciardo

i only mention this one bc i have a complicated relationship with maxiel. i like the guys, i like seeing them hang around each other and joke, i think daniel brings out the true comedian that max is more than he shows naturally. i just. i don't. i find it a bit of a lazy ship. of course you ship them! they hug, they joke, they laugh together, max shows his crinkly eyes and genuine joy and surprise, daniel ribbs him just to get that rise ouf of him, knows what cards to play and what buttons to press. it's easy with them, which is nice. and there used to be tension, sure! but the fics have basically been writing themselves and i like a challenge.

sorry it took so long anon! but here you have a breakdown of ships. other ships that deserve an honorary mention are dando (fully due to nadia ngl), yukierre, charlos, versainz, and probably some more but tbh i've been wayy too obsessed with nortrell and 4433 to think about anyone else. cheers babes!

Just your every now and then reminder that being against zionism doesnt make you anti semetic, and that Israel being genocidal assholes doesnt mean all Jewish ppl or even all Israelis agree (bibi has a 4% approval rating). I saw your posts about Redditors' very unfair interpretations of Loki. And the fact that they went straight to calling you a narcissist because you questioned who is a reliable narrator makes my blood boil. They're shutting you up by perpetuating stigma towards NPD and other Cluster B disorders. And also I hate the acceptance of police tactics that often lead to entrapment and false confessions being framed as therapy.

in response to this post describing the situation. the comment thread itself can be found here, if anyone's curious, although that just shows the specific context around my comment; the broader context was this post, and then this original comment, which unfortunately got a shit-ton of upvotes despite also being on the same general dumb argument, although before the commenter got aggressive about it. so then somebody else started arguing, and the original commenter argued back at truly ridiculous length, and then I butted in to say "er well could you maybe clarify a couple critical parts of your premise here because I'm nnnnnot sure the text supports them actually" which yes is a little obnoxious in principle but not at all unusual for this type of discussion? because...this is...how Reddit discussions go? or Twitter or Tumblr discussions for that matter, like nobody has to respond to your entire long-ass exhausting thing about how Loki Is A Nasty Narcissist With A Huge Body Count when all they really want to do is point out that you, uh, seem to have a tiny bit of a structural problem underlying your whole argument, just...right there? that structural problem? and that other one? right, and these things you're ignoring kinda render the rest of your argument a little bit irrelevant? and since you were saying that you were only talking about stuff that directly happened onscreen, then surely you have no problem talking about other things that happened directly onscreen, right? like, obviously you have answers for those things too, if this is all so self-evident. right?

...but also, I was genuinely curious who they meant by things being "explicitly stated by reliable narrators," and irritatingly enough I still am because they never fucking answered, just got pissy and flounced. like I'm assuming they meant Mobius and probably Odin? maybe also Thor? but I genuinely don't know because they literally refused to answer! probably because they knew I'm right and didn't want to admit it 🤷‍♀️

anyway. to be 100% scrupulously fair, this person speculated that I "identify with Loki's narcissistic traits and [am] trying to excuse them" rather than outright calling me a narcissist, but...you know, that's...a difference of semantics. I politely brought up some textual evidence about how maybe actually their reliable narrators aren't so reliable and also Thanos's coercion probably extended at least until the Hulk-smashing, and they responded 1) as if I was the person they'd already been arguing with (but then didn't take back any of the aggression when I said I wasn't, so, idk) and b) by personally insulting my character. soooo.

in hindsight it's actually kind of satisfying that they didn't even try to argue with me, just insulted me and flounced, because if they really had a good argument, they could've come up with something. kind of indicates they realized I had a good point and that's why they got so pissed.

honestly the thing that bothers me more is how common this viewpoint is that Loki's a narcissist, which...I hate to blame the show for but I kind of have to, because I don't think it's something I really saw until the show actually used the term, and then everyone started going "haha yes of course" without a second thought even though the vast majority of Loki's behavior isn't even remotely in line with either NPD or the more informal, nonclinical definition of narcissism that people toss around. (although, side note, I did read an absolutely incredible human AU Thorki series where iirc Loki did have clinical NPD, among other things, and it absolutely worked there. uh, mind the tags if you check it out though, maybe especially the parallel series from Loki's POV; it gets very dark in parts.) even aside from perpetuating stigma against real people with real mental illnesses, it's just--such a lazy, shallow reading, you know? and it's...honestly, it's unrealistic. you want me to believe that Loki was a narcissist by the informal definition and completely in love with himself (but also scared and hurt. these things do not fit) and blind to the damage he was doing until Magical Mr. Mobius's therapy session knocked some sense into him and forced him to do some introspection for the first time in his life, and only then did he realize some things that the all-knowing Mobius already knew about him, which caused him to make a sudden, massive personality change? yeah, no. come on. he's not stupid, lying to himself sometimes out of self-defense doesn't mean he lacks self-awareness, and nobody straight-up changes that fast. also if you want to tell me the poor kiddo who was in a constant state of breakdown from the Jotunheim battle onward was also too much in love with himself and that was the real problem, then uh...I don't think we watched the same movies.

...I guess that's the other thing that pisses me off about all this, that people keep putting so much emphasis on what Mobius did, giving him all the credit for the reality check that allowed Loki to become a hero or whatever the fuck. honestly? that was an accident. Mobius saw a potential asset and was perfectly willing to use all kinds of emotional manipulation and psychological torture to get information and see if he could turn this potential asset into a more long-term investment. the reality check wasn't what Mobius shoved in his face, it was what Loki found out on his own and had to accept for himself: that this was all real, that he did still deeply love his family and they still loved him and they were lost to him anyway, and his fucking preordained life ended with him dead at Thanos's hands.

Mobius gave him the opportunity to watch the tape and yelled at him for a while. that's mostly it. Loki did the actual work of grieving and processing everything alone and he deserves 100% of the credit, and actually I'm a lot more pissed about this than I realized. like, even if if that had actually been therapy, or even if we figure Mobius had some charitable intentions toward Loki in there as well as pragmatic ones (which...look, nobody in the TVA is exempt from ACAB so I'm not inclined to give him much benefit of the doubt, is all I'm saying), Loki would still be the one doing the work, and it's some ugly shit to act like this cop who manipulated him should get to take credit for that.

You can ignore this if you'd like, TW for addictions, but I just saw a post that just mmmm god I can't stand literally CAN NOT STAND when people try and use Sam's addiction as an excuse for his behavior. As someone who IRL has experiences with addiction, it's so fucked up like...the things I have said and done while under the influence are MY OWN ACTIONS and my addiction is not a bloody excuse for my behavior. If I hurt people, I hurt people, and there's no excusing that whatsoever, it's on ME, I can't sit here and go, "but, but, I have an addiction, I'm mentally ill, I can't help it", NO NO EXCUSES if you hurt someone, you can't blame it on something else, sure I'll say it EXPLAINS why you might act that way, but there's no justifying it...and it's so gross to me when I see people try to use Sam's addiction to justify his behavior in s4/s5, or hell get mad at Dean for acting how he did towards Sam's addiction.

Like, addiction to demon blood cannot be an equal allegory to real life addiction, so when people get mad at Dean locking Sam in the panic room because "you shouldn't do that to someone with an addiction", well uhhh irl an addiction isn't gonna turn you super-human almost demon soooo...and yanno sometimes I wish people in my life WOULD just lock me up in a panic room until I'm over it, bc I know I might not stop by myself, but I NEED that tough love. I mean regardless, the addiction plot line was handled so badly, imo...like they wanted to make it an allegory to real life, but couldn't fully commit, so it was just all over the place

yeah, it's um. something for sure. i find it very difficult to have any meaningful conversations about addiction in fandom spaces in general but it's exponentially more difficult when a show is kind of exploring themes of addiction, but not really actually doing it, because it's still a fantasy/horror show. and then on top of that people want to take it as if it's 1:1 to real life (as if every single real world instance of addiction is exactly the same) and it's all just very frustrating.

but yeah i think part of the problem with a lot of fandom excusing away sam's behavior in s4 (and the fallout in s5) is that the show kind of excuses it away by having sam dump it all on dean. and everyone just takes it at face value, which is already dumb because we are shown a very different story than the one sam tells, but it shouldn't matter anyway because sam's choices are still his choices.

anyway, yes, i agree with everything you've said and i'm sorry you have to deal with the frustrations of fandom being shitty about it on top of the actual real life struggles <3

no tumblr’s tagging system is so busted like if there’s a tag that contains the sequence of letters “male reader” it shows in the male reader tags even if there’s more there. so tags like “female reader” show up in the tag because it shows the phrase it’s so dumb😭😭

like i have “male reader” blocked on my blog bc there’s some authors who are uncomfortable with fem readers interacting w male reader or gn fics which i completely get so i just blocked it so i wouldn’t accidentally see and interact with it but now everything with “female reader” is blocked too it’s so annoying and soooo frustrating bc authors get blamed for tagging stuff incorrectly when they tagged everything the right way tumblr’s code is just shitty🫠

this is exactly what happens to me all the time like i do believe to the best of my knowledge i tag everything appropriately but if my stuff shows in "x male reader" tag i genuinely have nothing i can do bc i did not use that tag but ppl get mad at me for it and im like 😭 i do think that last anon was just being genuinely curious and not rude or accusatory but i just am rly tired of the whole topic as a whole bc it usually results in ppl yelling at me sjhjdgf so my only and best advice is just that if u see my content in the tags and cant understand why its there just block me and save us both the trouble of figuring out why its there

lucas is the one who’d be super afraid of bugs and will would send them all to their deaths

they both love horror movie and will, will is a complete connoisseur and would never get scared and lucas would get scared at all the jumpscares and hold wills hand and will would just kinda laugh and roll his eyes smiling

lucas would be really like show offy like always wants to impress will or pick him or get him to laugh and when he succeeds and will laughs or blushes or something lucas feels like so fucking proud for no reason

so obviously they wrote letters to eachother while will was in california and its kinda blurry but im pretty sure lucas has his new haircut in wills painting and i hc that will was super nervous to like ask lucas to send a polaroid of himself but he did and he keep the picture on his dresser and when will asked lucas was super nervous to get a good picture and also kinda flustered about will asking but with max’s help they got a really nice picture

i hcs lucas love language as physical touch so lucas is always touching will hair or holding hands or the as i mentions forehead and cheek kisses

i think theyd argue alot about which male celebrities are hot like anytime they watch a movie they always talk about whos hot and who aint

so theyd obviously go on an art museum date that lucas would surprise will with and lucas would drive them while wills in charge of music and will is amazed by everything and would have just a wide eyed look the whole time and lucas is like staring admiring will in his element

also at the art museum lucas would try to be all conceptual and like say dumb smart sounding shit about all the paintings and impress him and also just make him laugh and will would laugh so much and like shove him and giggle and it would be fucking adorable.

soooo lucas would be super flirty and charming like really charming and hes smirk and smile so much at will. at first will would be kinda nervous and flustered like embarrassed but then he started play along saying shit like “i bet you say that to all you boyfriends😏” but then… he started to flirt back and lucas… was not expecting that and every fucking time will was flirty lucas would die he would stutter and blush like crazy he would totally short circuit

Soooo, I need some help, in the form of a reality check. Can you do a little analysis of ZeeNunew irl (if you even pay attention to that). My problem is this: I ship them! Not psychotically, but they are persistently in my brain (along with MaxNat, but I think thats just because Nat is such a physically perfect twink i just really wish he had a boyfriend. That and their upper thigh caresses during cutie pie reaction videos). The issue is that I am very...trusting?...easy to convince? So when I see videos or posts like "X and X boyfriends" or "Couple X being cute together" (which I generally don't watch, but some slip through) I'm like "oh that seems real" until someone else comes in w/the logic (ex you've mentioned Tul and Apo being confident w/a good background so they just fuck w/shippers and it made me realize i was just one of those dumb people who didn't get it at first.)

Part of the problem was I started watching BL pretty recently w/no background info on the genre,

and I'm not much of a behind-the-scenes watcher so it took a while for me to understand that the studios are promoting the ships, and the actors are ACTING, so therefore reasonable adults don't take the ship or irl flirting seriously. I had just assumed when they're not in the show they're being themselves, so, I dunno, I guess I just thought there were a lot of gay actors in Thailand or something.

I'm very embarrassed now, but I just didn't know. I don't follow celebrities but I feel like they don't do this in America so I just thought "it must be real!" Rather than "they're exploiting those poor babies"

I just get such shysweetloving vibes from them. I know Zee is great at adoring his partners, and Nunew responds so sweetly I just squee all over them, but I want to be a responsible fan and not do that. Help me out, give me external validation I'm just being stupid.

How to get over Thai BL Pair Branding

Ah, they got ya, did they?

You shouldn't be embarrassed. They are actors, it's their job to persuade you to believe in an alt-reality, and this is some very insidious marketing tactics. Also it's pretty unique to Thailand. Also if you come from watching western cinema, we are used to Hollywood actors falling in love with each other and ending up in disastrous marriages from being on set together. It seems normal.

There are a few out gay actors in Thailand, but as yet there hasn't been any actual relationships to come from a BL. And if I were them and got into one, I would stay FIRMLY in the closet.

It's a little like buying that coffee drink because it looked good on IG and then being like, “oh, THIS is disgusting, I feel like an idiot.” Only with more emotional manipulation and not spending $8 on liquid sugar.

Not that I blame the actors! They are being told to do this, some of them are just better at it than others.

Frankly Max & Nat are better at cobranding because they have been together for so long. Sometimes you can see Zee & Nunew drop the act at the end of interviews when they are really tired.

I actually really don't like this aspect of BL, so I don't often watch things designed to encourage pair shipping (variety shows, bts, fanmeets).

okay this is long:

Hunter: like he's very relatable to me that I'm like oh god I went through stuff. His panic attacks and anxiety and PTSD is so painfully relatable. I'm very much like hunter like of all characters in the I ever watched/read hunter is who I can relate to the most. I'm gonna cry if I explain more so yeah. And him(and amity) getting to choose his life. He survived and lived and has support he made it. Through so much abuse he survived and got to live. HE'S LIVING NOT JUST SURVIVING HE'S LIVING. He's one of my favorites plus I love his dynamic luz(big brother to little sister/traumatized besties) and Gus cause they're literally besties and brothers. Willow and Hunter it's cute I like how they're friendship started and how they get together it's cute. Darius being his dad is so adorable and wholesome AND the fact he's a Noceda like Camila basically adopted him. And guys flapjack guys he was the best he was Hunter's only bestie and family and who guided him to the right path like why did he have to die I love them so much. I'm happy that he found his true family. OH ALSO THE HEXSIDE SQUAD GOT TATTOOS OF FLAPJACK LIKE BRO THAT'S SO SWEET AND SAD AND CUTE AND WHOLESOME GAAH MY HEART. Hunter becoming a palisman carver and regrowing palisman trees with Eda and Lilith's dad and the bat queen is so wholesome.

King: I loved him from the get go I just did there's no explanation I just love him so much. I also understand his abandonment issues cause god I feel for him on so many levels. I understand how much he just wants to be loved. Also the family dynamic he has with Luz and Eda is adorable. Luz and king are one of my favorite found sibling dynamics. And Eda being the mom basically eeeeeeeee.

Eda: bro I love her chaotic self. I strive to be that chaotic. It's my dream to be her. I also just understood how she pushes everyone away so they'll be safe so she'll be safe. I get that so much I did that I still do. Just to run away from everything yeah I get that. And her love for Lilith through everything is just amazing her love for everyone is amazing. And her guilt I get that so much I don't know how to explain it. I love her so much. Her being the mom to Luz and King is soooo wholesome and chaotic. And raeda guys I love it. I'm glad she to love and trust herself and others. Eda becoming the principal of the demon realm college is literally the most ironic yet fitting thing ever.

Luz: she's literally one of the best main characters hands down. No argument. She has character development heck they all do. Her making us fellow weirdos to remember "us weirdos stick together". Her, Eda, and King are one of my top favorite found families. I understand not fitting in my mind's different from others and it's nice seeing it's okay to be different. And her gaslighting herself, her blaming herself (they all do it but especially her, hunter, king, Eda and Gus) like I get that I blame myself for everything even the things I can't control like Luz. Like she's willing to put all the blame on herself and hold it in god I feel that. I'm glad she learns to accept herself and not everything is her fault. Lumity is awesome I met a hater the other day and no guys they're awesome and sweet.HER FAMILY IS SO HUGE NOW SHE GOT THE HEXSIDE SQUAD, EDA AND KING, HER MOM AND VEE LIKE IT'S AWESOME AND ADORABLE AND WHOLESOME. Her choosing every elective and class and getting to go to both worlds is the best.

Gus: Guys Gus is so awesome and so underrated. Guys love him he's amazing. His anxiety and feeling overwhelmed and feeling dumb that episode(labyrinth runners) killed me. I felt that so much I was like god I'm not the only one. He feels like he's not good enough cause he gets used so cause he skipped a grade and showed talent like bro he reminds me of a friend of mine and Gus as a character reminds me as her. Like Gus knowing Hunter is a grimwalker and subtly showing Hunter he knows and how they'll always be friends like that's just prime bestie/brother moments. And they're handshake GUYS GUS AND HUNTER'S HANDSHAKE I CAN'T I LOVE IT. Gus becoming the human ambassador and human realm teacher makes so much sense.

Willow: I love her guys she's awesome. I feel her so much always trying to prove herself even though she's so strong. And she's always striving to be better to reach higher heights. I love that about her so much. She's the mom in the hexside squad she's always protecting everyone else and ignoring her own needs. She never just lets it out and bro I feel that so much. Her breakdown and her just letting the bottle inside her break god I get that. I always keep stuff in until the bottle breaks but she also just lets everything out so it doesn't consume her. And too me that's so amazing that's so brave of her and I wish I could do that. I love that she becomes a professional flyer derby player and captain. Also the trio friendship between luz and Gus and then Hunter and Gus I love it. And the fact she reconciled and became better and closer friends with amity bro I don't think I could do that. I admire willow so much.

Vee: I wanted to see more of vee but I love vee so much as a character. I find her a sort of parallel to Luz. But obviously different since Vee was forced to come to the human realm where as Luz more or less chose to come to the demon realm. It's cool how Luz wasn't accepted in her human home but she was accepted into the demon realm(more or less) and vee who was accepted into the human realm(more or less) and they're sisters because Camila is awesome and she's a great mom. I also just love vee's personality and how far she's become. I love her vee and we should of seen more of her.

Amity: Okay this is one of the few times I like the former bully become an amazing person. Like I didn't want to like her even after I saw her redemption in season 1 it's just that she's rich and I had problem with rich people well now the problem doesn't really exist cause dang everyone's rich at times I will be pissed at them ngl. But when I watched toh at the time I was very deep into my hate of rich people. But later I couldn't hold onto that hate cause amity is a literal cinnamon roll who I guess can kill you but she's sweet. Her sibling relationship with Em and Ed like that's literally how siblings act it's awesome. I love her character development like she was a stuck up rich mean girl snob to I'm trying to change but I'm almost three to I'm a literal cinnamon roll who can probably kill. I also just love her style like I want her style so much. And her abuse by odalia her ex mom reminds of my own abuse it's obviously different but the gaslighting and emotional manipulation yeah I get that a lot. But her and emira and edric survived and that's amazing. And Alador being a good dad was great and breaking a toxic partnership and relationship like that's brave. I love how she was able to rebuild her friendship with willow(and that took time and tribulations) that they became better friends. Anyway amity is awesome and yeah. Her tomato face is funny hehehe

The owl house came during when my life shifted from a former traumatic experiences to me trying to accept the fact to another traumatic experiences and hardships. These characters all have aspects that I see in myself which makes it all so relatable. I felt seen through many different characters in different ways. The Owl House was a lifeline for me and I'm so happy it was in my life. I really can't pick a singular character cause I really do love them all (except for belos/Philip, kikimora, the coven heads(not counting raine, Darius, and ember- I love them so so so much) and weirdo messed up modern witch hunter dude, oh also boscha and luz's principal and the haters). But the owl house was during there for me and it still is. If I ever meet Dana I'm gonna thank her so much. I also love Lilith and hooty and the CATS and STEVE GUYS STEVE, and Darius and Raine and ember. AND CAMILA LIKE SHE REMINDS ME SO MUCH OF MY MOM THAT MAKES ME LOVE HER SO MUCH AND BE MORE UNDERSTANDING OF MY OWN MOM. OH ALSO THE COLLECTOR GUYS THEY'RE ADORABLE AND WHOLESOME and yeah sure they're an overpowered child but we love him. Also I love emira and edric I love the twins they're chaotic they're loving and can be relatable also they're the definition of older siblings. If I had the time I would do a whole essay on the characters I love/like. Cause no way could I type all that in this post. But yeah sorry for the late and VERY LONG reply!
