i feel like swifties are dramatic in general but my god fandom twitter is just so messy. i remember i tried to join bc all my friends moved from tumblr to twitter ~2017 and there were just so many ppl trying to start shit w people in other fandoms… like bragging about awards/streams/etc and in the same beat going “oh yeah at least my fave isn't racist” or something like 💀💀💀

Funnily enough these last few months or so I have been more active on Twitter but idk swiftie twitter is just so…. It’s so BIG! And it just feels so.. different than any other fandoms I’ve been in. The best way I can describe it is when I had a swiftie twt, it was hard to build actual friendships and get to know people bec everyone is just trying to one up each other in the fandom and prove that they’re a better fan and like you said one up other fandoms too and I’m just like -.- let me cry about lyrics and be mentally ill about her without this weird competitive behavior in peace please??? so yeah I ofc still follow swifties but have def moved onto yjtwt/ asoiaftwt and with Yellowjackets twitter I’ve actually made friends I can imagine being friends with forever yk? And then with asoiaf twitter… I mean to me that’s one of my home fandoms just like Taylor is and I’ve made so many dany stan friends and I’ve even reconnected with some old friends who I was close with on here while I was active in the fandom more and it’s just 🥺🥰 ofc there are antis we gotta deal with but that’s a given and inescapable when you stan the main character 😌🤪

one of the whole interesting rebelcaptain things to me is the whole question of the personal social mores and wider social codes of 70′s-futuristic space-soldiers like. i think they might be the inverse of the famous Sharing a Bed trope and have (relatively) little problem fucking each other in a Comradely fashion (no feelings, obviously, just comrades helping comrades etc) but absolute hard no on the physical intimacy of being around someone else asleep at your most vulnerable. there’s a lot of personal history that might make either of them very flinty about the idea of public barracks but also the early rebellion might rely on public barracks and through limitations on space and supplies have a system of cosleeping where nothing sexual is assumed. there’s just! a lot of interesting human interaction and worldbuilding to unpack here 

#but yeah their relative pasts are soooo interesting to me #there's this interesting parabola of intimacy where they're interestingly immediately in close physical contact and proximity to one another #and mesh on very certain emotional levels in ways that also cause friction #but also have these speciifc kinds of emotional reserve and self-isolation that just lead to so many He Would Not Fucking Say That Moments i #in fic where they just... can I be real I think that people are kinda catastrophizing about the ao3 m/m tag surpassing the f/f tag for dungeon meshi.

like I've been seeing soooo many posts the last few days lamenting about how fandoms are misogynistic and will always prefer mid yaoi ships even if the main ship of the series is lesbian and the women are well written........ but yall realize that the m/m tag surpassed the f/f tag because it's 3 different m/m ships that just barely outpaces the f/f tag which is almost entirely taken up by just farcille? I literally see nonstop farcille content and love for the women on here (I can't speak for twitter or any other social media wasteland bc I don't go anywhere else lmao). Everyone take a deep breath, trust me I get the fear but the dunmeshi fandom is appropriately filled with woman enjoyers I promise

Gosh our community had been through the wringer lately...

Anyway, I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone that I see constantly on this side of the fandom. I recognize soooo many blogs on the qsmp main tag and it’s great to have such a sense of familiarity and community here.

You’re all great. All the live-bloggeres, writers, and artists here, I hope you know that you’re amazing.

This is a difficult time and I know we’ve all invested so much of ourselves into this fandom. It sucks, but I’m hoping that now that there is awareness both among us and ccs, there will be a change for the better.

Everyone, keep an eye out for more info, but also look out for yourselves. Take a break, drink water, engage in other media for a bit. I actually realized that I needed a bit of a break too after the people around me realized how upset my mood was.

It’s gonna be okay though. I think we and the admins we love will pull through now that better treatment is going to be demanded.

One thing that frustrates me when discussing fandom misogyny and how it manifests in Dungeon Meshi is the inadvertent racism when people talk about ships Kabru is in, specifically Laois/Kabru. And there's definitely something to be said about how fandom prioritizes male characters over female characters, giving men more grace and understanding compared to the women who aren't allowed to do a single wrong or they'll be demonized. But acting like Kabru/Laois shippers only like the ship because they can smush two boys together is offensive, and also kinda racist (like that one post where someone called Kabru a yaoi boy, as if this well-written brown character is only bait for the mlm shippers). When there is soooo much stuff in canon that offers a solid foundation for a ship. Like off the top of my head--

They're narrative foils. They contrast each other in so many ways, from the slope of their noses (Kabru's is turned upwards, while Laois goes straight down) to even the shape of their noses. Both are autistic, albeit at different levels of masking, and are called creepy for their special interests.

Their interactions are just so fucking fascinating. Like, Kabru is this beautiful man whose charisma helps him make friends quickly, expects everyone to have ulterior motives, and then meets Laois who is a man so starved for companionship and for someone to enjoy his special interests, he constantly thinks "Kabru is so nice!"

So much more...I genuinely can't even list all of it. These guys make me insane.

It's important to talk about fandom misogyny, but acting like people who ship Laois/Kabru are just using these characters to fuel their desire for mediocre yaoi is really insulting. Especially when Kabru is such a well-written character with a fascinating arc, outside of shipping. Anyways, yeah, that was a brief rant. I understand the frustration Dungeon Meshi fans have with the influx of mlm ships, and in part, it's definitely fueled by subconscious misogyny causing people to prioritize male characters over the female ones. But at the same, let's avoid being racist. 😭

oh my god and its so misplaced too bc most people who ship labru also like farcille. barking up the wrong tree etc it honestly kind of discourages me from working on my big farcille comic. its why i haven't posted my farcille fanart here when i had on twitter. i mean of course i won’t let it discourage me but sometimes it’s really annoying. i get it i truly do but so many people boil kabru down to “yaoi boy” shut the fuck up. i also remember someone saying that trans kabru isn’t as important as trans falin or marcille, two WHITE women. sometimes the people in this fandom are so annoying

i've seen another comment mention this but i think it's so neat how (technically) the same person can turn out so differently depending on who and how they were raised (which is like basic developmental psychology 101 and generally just common sense, but like WHATEVER ASGHDJHAS), and seeing those massive differences between blu and red scout's behaviours is so interesting!!!

like i LOVE how blu scout isn't nearly as caring as red scout, and the fact he smokes because he was influenced by blu spy since he mostly raised him is soooo cool. he's sm more like his dad, whereas red scout is a lot more like his ma, which makes sense cuz in the same fashion as blu scout, he was mostly raised by her.
