#my mom is sick and shes walking around the house coughing uncovered and not washing her hands before being in common spaces #and she keeps coming into my room #these are all things she obsessively asks me if im doing when im sick #i asked her to do a covid test an hour ago so i could be on time for work but its the last thing on her list #sometimes i wonder why i bother #between this and my dads positive #aaaaaaaaaa #im not gonna stop bothering but im annoyed and want to vent #like i have shit to do #i need to go get the spare i have on my car replaced and i was gonna be an hour late to work and now its looking like 2 🙃🙃🙃🙃

Spend entire afternoon and spoons writing two business-y mails. Show dad to have him check for spelling errors, because brain does not do spellcheck, and just to see if you missed anything. Dad proceeds to slightly "tweak" the mail. Slightly tweaks the mail for over an hour. You get the files back and it has: 1) lost half its content (I suppose I am wordy, I know that, so I sort of get it) 2) what was left has been rearranged in a different but fundamentally similar order? (uhm, sure I guess? But. Why?) 3) and has been reworded to say the same thing, just slightly different (... )

#sometimes I wonder why I bother #way to make me feel incompetent #also he only looked over the one mail #and I was doing this in the first place because he kept procrastinating on reaching out to places that may or may not be able to help us ou #for over a year now #and now supposedly I have to believe he's going to call them?#I love my dad and I know he means well but he drives me up the wall sometimes

Why trying to be helpful to my spouse stresses me out:

Me: Do you want me to send you the records request form to have our old dentist send them to the new dentist? Spouse: I already signed the form before we moved.

I'm rewatching Hannibal now that I have a bit more free time and one of my favourite things about the first season is how much fun the show has with the fact that virtually everyone watching already knows that Hannibal is a cannibalistic serial killer — the cannibal puns, the cuts between Hannibal's victims and him preparing meals, the way he's so consistently but subtly manipulative in a way you can't fully appreciate without knowing who he is. I think creators adapting popular stories/characters can fall into the trap of writing or directing the same way they would for a narrative that isn't already entrenched in the popular consciousness, but Bryan Fuller and co. really leaned into that awareness and wove it into the narrative in a way that produces some truly spectacular dramatic irony.
