As someone obsessed with Undertale, Deltarune, Omori, etc., I am constantly looking for indie games with similar vibes. The stylized pixelated art, meaningful choices, cute characters, and heartfelt messages for their audience. With this in mind, I would highly recommend the mobile game Afterplace. I usually wouldn’t recommend many mobile games, but this one was just made with so much heart. I hardly see anyone talk about it, but it has really stuck with me.
The game opens in a very Undertale-esque manner; the MC falls and lands in a pile of flowers in an unknown world. You are given a quick combat tutorial, and sent on your way. The game’s map is maze-like, and holds numerous hidden areas to discover and explore. The music is charming, with a sort of vintage video game feel from the almost vinyl record sound they hold. The game also saves automatically, so even if you have to take a call or close the app for some reason, you won’t lose any progress.
The cast of characters is rather small, but they worm their way into your heart immediately. From Clover, to Gramps, to Foxy, you’ll find adorable, but complex friends around every corner.
There’s a sweet variety of vibes in the game as well. There are open meadows and serene lakes for the whole peaceful, animal crossing vibe, but there’s also an abandoned, half-buried library, and a terrifying forbidden forest.
And while the game doesn’t have the same variety of endings my other favorite games have, there are a couple different endings you can get based on how well you explored the world. If you don’t explore it to its fullest extent, there are plot lines that won’t get wrapped up, or character arcs that won’t be fully realized. The game does seem to lack a certain amount of direction, as you don’t have a super clear quest log, and a lot of plot-relevant things can be a bit difficult to locate. But being forced to explore every corner of the world is one of the draws imo.
As of now, January of ‘24, the game only costs $7 on IOS. I binged it the first time in a little more than a weekend, and the game has IMMENSE replay value once you have unlocked its secrets.
I actually learned about the game through an Instagram story Griffin McElroy posted, recommending it. So if you don’t want to take my word for it, take his.

Hi! You reblogged some welcome home art and I’m really curious, but I can’t find anything online about it that doesn’t feel like it’s lying to me. Could you tell me what it is and how I can find out more?
omg I’ll try to give my best summary!! It’s very website-based and uses some unreality so its reasonable to have problems finding out what its deal is at first.
Welcome Home is a web horror with ARG elements that hasn’t fully taken off yet and is still in its prologue stage, though we’ve been getting more breadcrumbs recently. It’s made by clown (partycoffin on tumblr) and some others. It’s being told through the format of a website run by a fictional group trying to recover and preserve remnants of an old 70’s muppet show. This site currently just introduces the show and its characters as well as the preservation project, with just a few hints of something strange going on if you poke around.
This first link is to the website the story is told through, no horror warnings if you’re going through it normally and not messing with the source code or anything
This link is to another page where clown explains about Welcome Home as a horror project and their plans for the story, warning for various kinds of disturbing horror art
After these I’d also recommend youtuber Night Mind’s ‘viewer discoveries’ video which goes through all the hidden stuff on the site that’s harder to find (warning for scopophobia and some short screaming and retching audio in that one). They also did a read-through video of the above sites if that’s your preferred viewing method!

THIS IS THE INTRO POST.
howdy, folks! this is your admin (@scarycranegame) speaking! welcome to my brandy-new sideblog dedicated entirely to my UrbanSPOOK AU, "MetaSPOOK"!
now, first and foremost, much like my main blog, this is an 18+ blog. much like the source material it's based on, this AU and the content i post that relates to it may contain sexual, violent, taboo/"problematic" elements that may be disturbing to some individuals and are unsuitable for minors. again, i'll say it real loud and bold...
IF YOU'RE UNDER 18 YEARS OLD OR CAN'T HANDLE GRAPHIC, UNCOMFORTABLE CONTENT, DON'T FOLLOW OR INTERACT WITH ANY OF MY BLOGS.
this is your only warning. if i get any messages regarding the censorship or removal of my own original content, i will not respond to them. i'm not responsible for your reaction or any harm caused if you choose to ignore this warning.
with that being said, what the hell is a MetaSPOOK?
i'll give you a run-down:
the basic premise of this AU is that the analog horror series exists in-universe as a series of "indie horror" videos made by another serial killer who was inspired by the Painter's case and wishes to find out more about the killers involved.
this AU takes place in the late 90s-early 2000s in the town of Urbanspook, Louisiana (very original name, i know)
the videos themselves are uploaded onto the creator's own website, which is entirely dedicated to the project.
the videos are uploaded in chronological order, i.e., the in-universe real-life crimes that were committed correspond to the order in which the videos based on them are uploaded (FACES-LIGHTHOUSE-IN THE WALLS-THE CLUE-WITNESS-PIGS-FAMILY-MEAT, basically)
the vast majority of the events portrayed in the videos are accurate to the killers' crimes, but some details (such as some info about the killers themselves and some of the codes hidden in the videos) are fabricated to throw people off
there are also promotional social media accounts (eg. MySpace and Facebook) connected to the videos and the overall "indie film project" they're supposedly part of, and the creator regularly interacts with their audience in the form of Q&A sessions held on AOL or IRC chat; both of which are meant to provide even more false info about the killers (and avoid suspicion, for that matter)
merchandise for the series also exists in-universe
the phone number (985)-455-9560 belongs to the creator of the videos and is included in the videos both in order to find out more about the killers & their crimes and to locate potential victims of his own
the killers are aware of these videos and are amused by them, regarding the creator as a friend of theirs
the Painter is a man, he just has low testosterone (be nice to him okay!!!!! god damn!!!!!/j/lh)
mask guy is referred to as Bruteforce, still has his arm (and his face for that matter), and is at least a little bit more intelligent than a dog (not that much, though, he's still a fucking dumbass for the most part, dw—)
they're uhh. they're gay and they livestream on the dark web sometimes occasionally. yeah no that's it, that's deadass what i have written down in my notes for this
...alright, so that ended up a little longer than i expected, but nonetheless i hope that at least gives you some idea of what the hell is going on here. if not, then you can always ask, either in dms on my main account or in the inbox here!
before we finish up, though, i'd like to clarify a few additional things:
if you're looking for my general headcanons about the killers, you can find them here: https://www.tumblr.com/meatbricks/733417177763414016/id-love-to-hear-some-general-hcs-about-the?source=share
this blog isn't just for headcanons, fics, art, and other works related to this au, but it also doubles as an ask blog! if you send in an inbox message addressed to a specific character, an in-character answer will be provided!
this au also includes ocs of mine! none of them affect canon all too much (besides maybe one of 'em), so if you have any questions or requests regarding them, don't hesitate to ask!
speaking of which, this blog does, indeed, take fanfic/headcanon/art requests! this includes reader insert fanfics, so if you have something you wanna see, again, don't be afraid to ask!
these characters, aside from my ocs, are all the property of UrbanSLUG. please support his work on Instagram and YouTube. I do not claim the rights to any of these characters; these are only my personal interpretations of them that are separate from canon.
unless specified otherwise, none of the events of this blog are canon to the actual series, and none of the elements of this au (such as the social media accounts, website, livestreams, etc) exist in physical reality.
...aaaaand the n/s/f/w tag for this blog is "this is the NSFT", so block that in case you don't wanna see any of the weirder stuff i post here.
that's all! enjoy!

The thing about writing in the Lovecraft Universe is that not all the monsters and gods are public domain or fair use. You'd actually be surprised--- I know I was because I assumed everything I'd ever seen included in like, a TTRPG was fair game. Nope.
Part of me writing this series has been me checking every single thing I want to include for who wrote it, when, has their estate made a public comment somewhere, or for the still-living contributors, what does their website say.
Copyright law/license shit is kind of a minefield, and I'm not going to pretend like I know everything about it, but here's kind of how I've gone about it:
Because this project is using these characters as a form of "critique and commentary" (it's a black comedy, so, duh) I could insist it's all protected under parody law. Though a lot of the estate holders are American, I'm not. Parody law isn't as well protected in Canada, and regardless, this is supposed to be a low-stress little side project for me, I'm not only not interested on dying on that hill, I don't want to go near it if I don't have to.
Names of characters are not copywritable, but likenesses are. If a character doesn't show up, it'd be reasonably safe to mention they exist by name at least. Still, I've aired on the side of caution with some copywrited Lovecraft Universe characters depending on what context I'm mentioning them by not using their proper name, just alluding to them. Example: "Cthylla/The Hidden One" as "Daughter of the Hidden Deep", "Secret of Secrets." (Note: that's actually the funny thing about authors who convert their old fanfic into original lit. The often don't actually remove the content that makes it possibly copyright infringement, lol. 50 Shades was similar enough to Twilight Stephanie Meyer probably could have sued--- the only issue being that neither works were unique enough to have a super strong case . . . And E.L.James really exploited that with her cover art choices and stuff like that.)
Some characters are TECHNICALLY inventions of Lovecraft, so likely public domain (though even that's kind of jumbled), but it gets murky since a lot of the lore written about them was from different authors. There's not really a good answer when it comes to characters like this (Sidenote: did you know that in Oz The Great and Powerful they had to be careful as to what specific shade of green they made the wicked witch because she's not actually green in the original books? But, you know, people kind of expect the wicked witch to be green now even though MGM still holds the copyright on that version of the character. I dont know why that was never an issue for Wicked, but, whatever.)
It was Lovecraft's wish that writers keep adding and expanding to his universe and concepts even before any of his works entered the public domain (though IP law was a lot different back then) but that doesn't mean every creator that contributes feels the same way. I've hunted down every public statement on the matter I could find to see if they express any opinion on that matter. I've seen some sites state that certain creators are "very understanding" as a secondhand account but unless I could find a direct statement from the creator themselves, I've taken that as a no. So for some characters, out of respect for the author, I've tried avoiding using their creations all together unless I feel it's kneecapping the intent of my storyline (the premise of my novellas is kind of hinges on the metacommentary of living manifestations of fear) where I insert whole new creations that I hope evoke the spirit of the monster/God they're based on. My headcanon is that they're avatars or manifestations of the characters, but different enough that I'm not stepping on the authorial wishes of their creators.
I know personally in the extremely unlikely event someone wants to use a character or concept I've created as an addition to the Lovecraft Canon in their roleplay or story, movie, video game whatever, I'd be very excited. That's part of the fun of the Lovecraft property, I'm just happy to be included, but. Respecting artist IP is important.

6, 7, and 8 for Tomura for the reverse self ship au?
Reverse Selfship Ask Game <3
Context: In this AU, my Homestuck run is the canon webcomic and Shigaraki self-ships with me from the comic!
6) Does your f/o have a blog like us (do they have a blog elsewhere?), or do they keep this stuff to themselves?
Tomura doesn’t have a tumblr account! He’s mostly on forum-based websites where you don’t have a personal page. That said, he does interact with fandom-specific forums with content of my character!! He’s not public about selfshipping because he knows he’d get possessive and wouldn’t enjoy the forums as much. He has commissioned some art, though!
7) How often does your f/o go back to your source, or look at pictures or watch videos of you?
As I said, he spends a fair amount of time on fandom forums, so he spends a lot of time looking at fanart and fan content! He doesn’t revisit the original content much but he plays fangame spinoffs and stuff like that.
8) Is your f/o very open with shipping with you? Do they often gush, unapologetically?
Nahhh I’m one of his more hidden f/os: I’m not the only one he selfships with but he’s more open about his other ones! I think that his selfship with me is a bit more complicated so he keeps it closer to the chest. He definitely gets into fandom discourse about me though!!!! He’s a vicious little defender :)

Ebenezer And The Invisible World Review (PlayStation 4)
Tumblr media
For this Ebenezer And The Invisible World Review, we play a story-rich 2D Metroidvania adventure with breathtaking hand-drawn art, playing as miser-turned-hero Ebenezer Scrooge in a reimagined Victorian-fantasy based on Charles Dickens’s classic novel, A Christmas Carol. Enlist the help of ghosts to save the people of London before it’s too late.
Ebenezer And The Invisible World Review Pros:
- Decent graphics. - 2.78GB download size. - Platinum trophy. - Works on Playstation 5. - Metroidvania platformer gameplay. - Four save slots. - In-game cutscenes with character portrait interactions. - Tutorial pop-ups as you play. - The map fills in as you explore. - Save rooms can be found and act as a respawning point. - Many hidden areas and routes are not always shown on the map. - Signposts are littered around. - Locations on the map are color-coded. - Fully animated background. - All set in a wintery London England. - Befriend ghosts and have them join you by completing their side quest. - Each ghost either grants a new ability or does a certain attack when equipped. - You run around with a cane and have a spirit bar for using ghost attacks. (bar fills when fighting) - Big boss encounters. many breakable objects like boxes, crates, lampposts, etc. - Damage numbers pop as you attack. - Many enemy types with some needing timing and countering. - Coins drop from enemies and breakables and are used for buying from traveling vendors. - A colorful cast of characters. - The game on the whole moves at a fast pace. - Beautiful art. - Breaking a light makes the level darker. - Heirlooms can be found and these do things like increase run speed or do more damage etc. - Find and equip many unique and quirky weapons that change your stats and how they work so a spirit chain allows you to hit multiple enemies but can't hit the smaller floor-based enemies. - many different biome types with unique monsters and enemies. - I really love the art and design of all the characters. - When the game is flowing and combat is good then the game really shines. - It could be argued that this is a Castlevania SOTN love letter with slight reskinning. Ebenezer And The Invisible World Review Cons: - Got stuck in menus unable to back out and lost a load of progress. - The Flow of the game is slow. - You don't get much help with guidance and with so much open you do spend the first hour just roaming around aimlessly. - Hit detection feels a bit off at times. - Finding health items is very rare. - Save rooms and fast travel points are so far apart and hard to find that you end up repeating large chunks of the game. - Having to pick up items is less than ideal. - Buying from the shop isn't just money, it's also items that randomly drop. - I lost faith in the saving system working so I will sit at the saving door and do it like 50 times. - The map doesn't fill in with useful information like vendors. - Had so many crashes and shutdowns that I feared moving rooms and still to this day I haven't spoken to a particular character as the game crashes every time I initiate a chat. - It could do with a lot more help with guidance. Business Growth & Effective Strategic Marketing
Tumblr media
Business Growth & Effective Strategic Marketing
We think that marketing, culture, and operations must all work together to build an effective business growth. We are passionate about creating strong brands that are supported by strategic planning. We value keeping our word on promises. According to our opinion, the value of your company is based on how your customers perceive it. Our three success pillars—position, standards, and our tried-and-true approach—are built on these principles, standards, and practices, and we commit to using them as the norms for the work produced in our core competency laboratories. Message. Process.
 Websites, electronic shops, and software
ANY COMPANY WANTING TO SURVIVE IN TODAY'S MARKET MUST HAVE A WEBSITE.
Having said that, a website can benefit a variety of businesses in a number of ways. The less likely it is that a clear website is the best choice for you, the more complicated your product offering is. Consider the following:
Does local SEO need to be done independently for each of your locations?
• Do you require eCommerce or provide recurring revenue services?
Are personal account portals required for your customers to access?
• Does your business require a key information portal internally?
In each of these situations, as well as countless others, Ignite XDS offers a team of marketers AND engineers with years of problem-solving experience to assist you. Your specific requirements will be determined, and we'll use both pre-made and unique software to meet them.
content, branding, and design, the creation of videos
What does your company's brand say about it? If you believed that your customers were making difficult choices while you weren't there to influence them, would you spend more time and effort making sure your look, feel, and messaging were precisely right? If your process is complex, we will challenge you to think more deeply and we will challenge our team to simplify the message to make it easier to grasp. At Ignite XDS, we DO this every single day.

10 Jobs That Pay You to Spend All Day on Social Media
With a career in social media, you might envision a world where you don't have to keep your gadget hidden from your boss so that she won't see you checking Facebook for the nth time when she passes by.  This is a real world, and you may be a part of it, if you want to get paid to help companies sell their goods and services on social media.

There are equal opportunities for everybody interested in working online. If you have a laptop and internet access, you can start working remotely. It makes it possible for someone to continue living at home while working from the convenience of their own home.
 among the most fascinating careers:
Social media has a wide range of exciting professional opportunities. There are various ways to interact with the outside world while yet living comfortably and even earning a living at home. You won't have to worry about hunting for a job once you graduate from college.
 Technical writer
You can benefit from this opportunity if you love and are good at writing. As a candidate, you should have complete authority over everything, including manuals, publications, and documents. A bachelor's degree is required for this position, and having one offers a writer the intrinsic ability to deal with the complex ideas of varied audiences.
 A social media manager
This post requires excellent writing skills. You are in charge of monitoring, controlling, measuring, and directing the person, brand, or product on social media. As an account manager, you are entrusted with managing the account of a client. You must keep up your good relations with them. Furthermore, in order to ascertain how the company will meet a customer's basic goals and needs and consequently boost sales, it is vital to know those goals and demands. You must possess great communication and computer skills in order to be considered for this role.
 Translator
You might fit in well if you speak several languages well and have a solid grasp of grammar and style. The technological revolution had an impact on this opportunity since it made the world a village where different individuals could interact and do business. If they cannot understand one another, it shows that the interaction platform is insufficient and calls for a translation. Excellent communication skills are necessary for this position.
 Strategist for online marketing
To work in this field, you must be familiar with marketing methods. Your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts should be actively managed. The company sells more things as a result and increases consumer knowledge of specific products and brands. Although there aren't any stated educational prerequisites for this role, you should have marketing and communication expertise in addition to a degree in a relevant field.
 Film editor
If you have taken film editing classes, you will seize the opportunity. As technology and mobile video internet have developed, so has the demand for video and film editors. The ability to turn incomplete video into a finished product is crucial in this industry. A degree in a broadcasting-related discipline is required, as is proficiency with film editing software.
 Social media representation
An expert in this profession employs a variety of tactics to increase customer awareness of a particular brand. To operate as a social media specialist, you must be knowledgeable in search engine optimization and online product promotion. It is your duty to be knowledgeable about consumer preferences in order to increase brand recognition. Additionally, it is your duty to present novel ideas that would enhance the current approach to satisfying consumer requests.
Social Media Jobs: Online & Remote Remote Work
Many of us are young when it comes to using social media. Political insiders are prone to error, and fugitives usually come clean about who they are. Some of the people I've encountered who are terrified of Twitter include well-known scientists, Harvard professors, and self-described networkers with only five connections on LinkedIn.
Bright Green Talent helps job searchers find green opportunities, yet both employers and job seekers commonly express dissatisfaction. Undoubtedly, it might be easier to obtain a work. By hitting a single button, I can now quickly and simply uncover 3,778 perfect jobs on the bigger jobsites, like Monster, Dice, or Simplyhired.
A tangled Gordian knot has taken the role of the previous, linear employment search, while ease-of-use has resulted in a rush of applications that diminish each interaction. This facilitates job searching but also increases the difficulty of landing a job.
One of the problems is the way the internet and social media promote sitting down. About 60% of the resumes I believe Bright Green Talent receives are obviously unsuitable for the position being posted, despite the fact that many of the job seekers who complain about the online recruitment maze have probably contributed to it by uploading their resumes for positions they are confident they won't be hired for. You read that correctly: 60%!
Social media, however, can have a tremendous impact IF it is used wisely, carefully, and perhaps moderately. The best example of finding a job through social networking may be Obama's presidential campaign. I'm not a pessimist about social media; I'm simply grumpy.
Here is a sample of our recommendations for those using social media for business. Even though it's simple and probably clear, it's commonly disregarded:
Use caution while accepting someone's request for a connection or when making one yourself. Do you feel secure approaching them on a friend's behalf or introducing them to your mother?
Adjust your privacy settings to prevent the incorrect individuals from discovering you if you're not as certain as I am that your mothers are incompetent; particularly mothers depend on interactions of the highest level. Do not let the impersonal nature of online social interaction undermine your integrity. People who are good and decent in real life might become wicked online. Try to communicate with them in person as much as you can.
Employers and recruiters are using social media more and more to identify prospects. When you tweet things like "omg SO hungover for interview this morning; hope they didn't notice," the interviewers find it funny, but they're laughing at you, not with you.
Social networking should focus getting to know people or doing business with them; avoid using it excessively. Make folks desire more rather than less!
If you doubt that "meeting" somebody online is the same as genuinely knowing them, watch this endearing little film from Meetup for some motivation:
You probably want to use social media to benefit the environment if you've read this far. But if you don't use the environment, protecting it is pointless. Be cautious when using your internet profile. Think about whether you are promoting more meaningful connections, bringing value, and generating meaning.
Create a visual Web-based library of componentized instruction sets, or "building blocks," that contains all the instructions needed to complete a multi-part project. This will enable various hardware and software creations. When compared to earlier crowdsourced projects like Wikipedia and Instructables, it feels quite doable yet being extremely ambitious. To make it happen, though, A LOT of love, care, labor, money, and human strength will be required.

#ROCK PAPER SHOTGUN DRAUGEN PC#
#ROCK PAPER SHOTGUN DRAUGEN CRACK#
The screens and concept art are certainly something. "The game is a dark and disturbing journey into the pitch black heart of Norwegian national romanticism, as seen through the eyes of an American nature photographer, botanist and entomologist." Puts me in mind of The Shadow over Innsmouth. A Rats Quest: The Way Back Home, XOne, HandyGames, N/A, N/A, N/A, N/A, 01st Dec 20, 05th Aug 19. As is oft the player's role in any video game narrative, you will play amateur archeologist and historian, learning of the terrible tragedies that preceded you and discovering the hidden malice in the souls of all people. Although details about how the game will actually play are limited, the story sees the player exploring a remote fishing settlement in the mountains where everyone has mysteriously disappeared. Rock Paper Shotgun (also rendered Rock, Paper, Shotgun short RPS) is a UK-based website for reporting on video games, primarily for PC.Originally launched on 13 July 2007 as an independent site, Rock Paper Shotgun was acquired and brought into the Gamer Network, a network of sites led by Eurogamer in May 2017. He has been working for Funcom in Oslo since 1994, and has founded his own studio Red Thread Games in November 2012. Plus Seoirse reviews Draugen and Tomas gives his first impressions of Night Call. While the line "first-person survival horror adventure" might immediately make you shut down these days, keep in mind Red Thread are the guys who made The Longest Journey and its Dreamfall based sequels, so there'll probably be more a focus on the "adventure" than in most games of its ilk.įor those who haven't played Skyrim, the game's title refers to a Norse undead creature called a Draug, a corporeal ghost who resides in a watery grave. Ragnar Trnquist (born 31 July 1970) is a Norwegian game designer and author. The Suicide of Rachel Foster Official Site Rockpapershotgun Article. Check out some screens and art after the break. The studio received a $144,000 grant from the Norwegian Film Institute to develop the game for PC/Mac/Linux and next generation consoles. You can find it here on Steam and its official page here.Red Thread Games has announced Draugen, a first-person survival horror adventure set amongst Norway's misty fjords in the 20s. Having enjoyed Tornquist's writing in the past, I'm eager to see just how he breaks, and where the parts land.ĭraugen is set to launch in May, though Red Thread Games are still vague on the exact date.
#ROCK PAPER SHOTGUN DRAUGEN CRACK#
Exactly the kind of fragile protagonist that can easily crack under stress. Red Thread also mention that players will have to deal with Edward's own "worsening mental state", saying that he has lived a life of "self-imposed isolation". and one of Rock, Paper, Shotguns best games of 2018.
#ROCK PAPER SHOTGUN DRAUGEN PC#
The year would definitely be right for a Lovecraft-inspired adventure, though I'm hoping that if things get weird, it's more intriguing than yet another clan of fish-people. Draugen is (once again) on Rock, Paper, Shotguns list of PC games for the (new) year, along with Red Thread Games Dreamfall Chapters. All Miles can do is to document what is happening inside the Mount Massive. The game's logo does imply that something supernatural may be afoot. There's a lot that can go wrong with a free-roaming buddy character. Or disturbingly teleporting behind the player wherever they go. There's big talk of dynamic dialogue and a context-sensitive interface guiding the player's interactions with her, and given that it looks lonely out there in the fjords, I'm hoping that she's easy to get along with. So far, nothing of the game has been shown aside from abandoned, unnerving structures, the only human life being yourself and Lissie. Murder, mystery, suicide and some lovely landscapes await. See how the two get along in the new video below. Amusingly described by the developers as "Fjord Noir", players control Edward Harden, a bookish, nervous sort searching for his missing sister with the help of his young ward, Lissie. Now due out next month, Red Thread Games and writer Ragnar Tørnquist ( The Longest Journey, The Secret World) are ready to show a little more of their 1920s investigative adventure. Scenic Norwegian mystery Draugen might have missed its original 2015 release date a tad, but judging by today's story trailer, it hasn't suffered for its extra development time.

You can easily locate the app on a Windows 10 system and create automatic or custom videos. While this standard app is generally used to create photo galleries, a hidden video-editing feature is its strong suit. This is what Microsoft replaced Windows Movie Maker with so is worth checking out. If you are of the opinion that creating a professional video should not consume much time or money, this is a handy list of alternatives to Windows Movie Maker. You cannot overlay or merge tracks, as with some of the more advanced paid video editors. However, we all have to move on. But these are all practical tools, such as noise reduction and deinterlacing, rather than the stylish retro or pop art effects you'll see in other video editors.Īvidemux only supports one stream. There is a good selection of filters found in the Avidemux Video menu. Although this is not immediately obvious, you can also select audio tracks (up to four), configure each of them and remix them for different speaker settings. Using this free video cropping software, you can filter your videos before converting them with cropping, resizing, color profiling tools and more.
AVIDEMUX WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER MP4
Also, the program supports multiple video formats, including MPEG, GIF file, DVD, AVI and MP4 file. It can perform such basic video editing tasks as filtering, cutting and encoding.

A video stabilizing tool is also worth mentioning. This free editor for YouTube allows you to select individual photos or video objects with the help of a mask and change their color. The tool provides options for applying Instagram-like filters, voiceovers, captions, shapes and other impressive visual and sound effects. In addition, VSDC makes it easy to export data directly to YouTube or another social media website. Therefore, this program is perfect for YouTube vloggers who produce video guides. You can also orient its tabs vertically, if that helps you keep track of them more easily. There are also hidden features in Edge, like the ability to pin tabs in a browser window, so you can never accidentally close an important resource, and you can always keep certain pages open when you open the browser. You could also make a Collection for a research project or for important webpages you use at work a lot.Ĭollections can be shared with other Edge users, which is great for group work and event planning. Then you could switch between them whenever you need to. You could make a Collection of gift ideas for someone, and another one for vacation destinations. Rather than simply bookmarking important web pages, Edge lets you save webpages in groups you create, called Collections. This is mainly because of Edge’s Collections feature. Both Safari and Microsoft Edge can do that, but Edge a bit more so. I started thinking about how engagement-based algorithmic content ruined the internet and like... the more I think about it the more it bothers me.
It used to be on most websites, it’s not that content like comments, videos, images etc were unsorted. It’s that you chose how to sort them. There’d be, like, a drop down menu and you could usually at least pick “best-rated” and “most recent” but sometimes you’d also be able to sort by, like “recently-high-rated” or “most discussed” or, like “most bookmarked” (for sites where there was a bookmark/save to playlist/other similar system that was separate from their rating/like system). I got to choose how I wanted to engage with the art I was viewing and the communities I was discussing with.
I remember when this started changing. It started with Youtube comments, if I recall correctly. Facebook and Twitter followed. Eventually almost every community or content hosting site started doing this, not letting you choose how you wanted things sorted yourself, but instead taking it out of your hands and having an algorithm show it to you. I feel like, these days, there’s so few sites that really actually trust me to decide the terms on which I want to engage with the art I view, the games I play, or the people I communicate with. Tumblr mostly does. Fur affinity is, like, almost 100% oldschool no-algorithm, but appears to only sort by recent with you being allowed to filter content in and out yourself based on tags. Nice if I want to see what’s up in Sonic fan art. Not nice if I want to see the highest-rated Sonic fan art on t he site.
As I start learning coding and web dev more, I’m thinking more and more about how much the internet now isn’t like the one I grew up on. You have so much less control. You’re monitored so much more closely. You’re so much less anonymous. There’s no more sites that feel like exploring, or that take wholly unique approaches to content curation. I’m never going to experience finding the hidden pages on HomestarRunner dot com again, or going to the official website for a guy who made a short film I liked and discovering he has an entire page on his site full of numbered sticky notes, each one linking to their own page with little scraps of story ideas on them or little sketches or small animations or the story of the time a cell phone company asked him to do a commercial and he turned them down and they just... kept trying to keep him in the loop about the commercial anyway for fear he might sue for it being too close to his style. Like... nobody does this any more. The few times anything like this happens it’s usually part of some grander ARG type thing, but I mean just... the feeling of being able to randomly stumble into a website that’s wholly unlike any site you’ve seen before. Or being able to follow a chain of weird, hidden links on a site to eventually find secrets. The web’s so much more samey now, and I don’t think it’s in the interest of making the experience better on the people who browse it. I think it’s all in service of making it easier to advertise to us. and that sucks so much. I hate how much the modern web has stripped away almost everything I used to love about the internet. And I guess, ultimately, I’m more likely to wind up another cog in that machine if I wind up doing web dev as opposed to winding up fixing it.

About Otis
So we're heading into the first band that I'll cover here in "curated by hatto". I won't cover every band in full detail, only some of them because I feel they deserve it; and that's the case with Otis.
For the general public, you may know Otis from one or more of these sources:
The song 'Lonely Day' that appears on the 2004 PS2/Xbox game 'Mx Unleashed'
The song 'Hold Your Breath' that appears on the 2001 PS2/Xbox game 'Splashdown'
The song 'Forever Still' that appears on the closing credits of the 2003 South Korean/American movie 'Ark'
This said, I discovered them because of 'Mx Unleashed' and only listened to 'Lonely Day'. However, one day I noticed that there was an album name on the art of this song: Abundavida. I looked it up and got extremely invested on the album and the band itself, and then became part of the almost non existent fandom.
Now, a while ago, I looked up the lyrics for some of their songs and, thanks God, a user called surfdakibun took the time to transcribe the lyrics and even add some info about the band on genius.com. I used this info (and my desire to make the band a bit more well known) to create lyric videos.
(Edit | June 05, 22 - I found more info about the band and the official lyrics some days ago, therefore, I corrected what was wrong. More info on this other post)
(Edit 2 | September 29, 23) - Few days ago I found through the Otis Subreddit that a physical copy of Abundavida was available on discogs, and I rushed to buy it. The seller confirmed that 'Said and Done' was in fact, part of the album, however it was a hidden track.
Tumblr media
Huge shoutout to EHS for keeping the disc MINT.
And though for now I will upload only Otis' songs until I have them all up on the channel, I plan to create more of these videos for other bands and standalone artists. You can expect (as the blog description says) unknown and well known (and everything in the middle) artists, from my favorite 2 bands "twenty one pilots" and "half•alive" to small artists like "Hector Gachan" (but still so good!)
Now, about Otis themselves...
Though there have been multiple bands and standalone artists called Otis (probably because the name is fairly simple) there has been no other band as unknown but equally as good as this one 'Otis'. Information about them is scarce, however, the few fans that still listen to them have done a great job of collecting information for posterity.
Otis was an alternative rock/post grunge band based in Arizona, US. They were active (presumably) from 2001 to 2004; and had only 3 singles, three music videos and one album: Abundavida (which is fortunately available on Spotify, Deezer and YouTube Music
According to discogs.com, Abundavida's inside cover and the deprecated website the band was formed by Cal Campbell (son of Glen Campbell), and Ry Jarred (vocalist). However, when performing live those two guys were joined by Dan Petricino, John Ransom Tucker, Phil Adkins. (and for some studio recordings too, it seems)
Their songs were mixed by the same engineer who’d worked with Radiohead, Darrell Thorp.
You can expect a post for every single song from Otis (there are not that many tbf)

How to Find a Hobby as an Adult
*** For more tips on how to *adult,* subscribe to https://www.projectadulthood.com/, a weekly newsletter on growing up. Think of it as your instruction manual to adulting :)
If you’re feeling a bit “meh” about life right now, try changing things up a bit. How? By picking up a new hobby.
How to find a hobby
Tumblr media
Figure out what you like
Think about the types of activities you enjoy now or activities you liked in the past as well as the things that fascinated you when you were a child.
Looking at your interests can give you a good idea about what hobbies might suit you.
For example, if you love nature, you might like gardening, bird watching (try getting binoculars and a book on birds in your area and start documenting the birds you see), volunteering at an animal shelter, hiking, foraging, or even astronomy (although telescopes are not cheap, they’re a one-time investment).
Ask your friends and family what they're into
Tumblr media
If it's something that interests you, see if you can tag along with them next time they're going to do that specific activity.
Find a community
You're more likely to stick with a hobby if you're around people that are passionate about it.  Immersing yourself in a community can not only help you stay motivated, but is also a great opportunity to learn from others and see "endgame" results.
Pick a hobby that will potentially improve your life
Tumblr media
Whether it’s training for a marathon, joining a martial arts class, or taking a language course, there are some hobbies that can help you excel in other areas of your life.
Don't be afraid to drop it
It’s okay to stop doing something if you realize that you don’t like it. You can revisit it later — or never.
Don’t waste your time on something that doesn’t excite you. A hobby should not feel like work. That being said, you may want to give something more than one chance, just to make sure you actually don’t like it and are not just having a bad day (unless you really, really hate it).
Also, keep in mind that sometimes, a part of a hobby may feel like “work,” but the other parts may be super fun and more than make up for the boring bits. For example, baking something new may be exciting, but washing up afterward is a bit (read: a lot) less fun.
Some ideas to get you started
Tumblr media
Volunteer. For non-profit organizations, your time and energy are invaluable. For you, it'll be a priceless experience. You’ll learn something new, get out of the house, meet new people, and maybe even discover a new passion. Check out volunteer opportunities near you (here and here). If you’d rather volunteer remotely, Amnesty International always has projects they need help with. So do the Smithsonian, Zooniverse, Missing Maps, and Project Gutenberg.
Knit/crochet/cross-stitch/quilt. When it comes to knitting and crocheting, you don’t have to stick to boring things like hats and scarves. Instead, why not try knitting a beard warmer, or if you're REALLY ambitious, crochet a playground?
Make your own beer. You can get starter homebrewing kits for as little as $40.
Read. Here’s a list of books everyone should read at least once, according to Goodreads.
Go geocaching. If the idea of joining “the world’s largest treasure hunt” excites you, this one's for you. An excellent outdoor activity, geocaching involves finding containers — called “geocaches” or “caches” — hidden by others around the world based on GPS coordinates.
Learn something new. With so many remote courses available, there is nothing you can’t learn — from the comfort of your own sofa, no less! Open Culture has a list of 1,700 free courses from top universities, so now you can tell people you're "attending" Harvard.
Play board games. If your friends and family think board games are dorky, there are plenty of communities springing up that would love to have you as a (board) member. Check out what board game groups are near you.
Dance. It’s an amazing way to meet new people and potentially even dates. In case you're wondering, most dance classes don’t require a partner.
Make 3D models. According to the pros, Blender, a free, open-source software, is a good place to start. Although it hasn’t been updated in quite a while, the YouTube channel BlenderForNoobs has some great tutorials. If you get really good at making 3D models, you can even make a small profit by selling them on websites like Shapeways and Turbosquid.
Create scale models. Check out Luke Towan and Quick Kits YouTube channels for inspiration.
Sew. You could try making your own clothes or pillowcases and quilts. There are a ton of tutorials on YouTube.
Learn a language. The YouTuber Johnny Harris recently made a video in which he explains how to learn a language (relatively) fast using his “video game map theory.”
Play music by squeezing air through your hands. It's a thing, and it's called manualism. According to the Wikipedia page, “playing recognizable tunes by squeezing the hands together is extremely difficult, and could take many years of practice to master the art." Here's a manualist in action.
Become a Ripperologist. Research the crimes, newspapers, and government records of the late 19th century to figure out who the infamous criminal “Jack the Ripper” really was. You never know; you might just crack this century-long mystery.
Get involved with historical reenactment. Born in the wrong century? Not anymore.
If all else fails
Make “trying new hobbies” your new hobby. Eventually, something will stick.
Tip: Wikipedia’s “List of hobbies” is an extensive list of hobbies and an excellent place to start.
