Cannot stress the joy I’ve been experiencing returning to my roots aka sonic Oc’S are my oxygen
Did some Sola doodles between lessons but oh man I’ve been doing so much content on CSP I’ll be sharing once it’s cleaned up. Getting back into the vibes of the main plot again, but also an excuse to draw cute otp stuff and also Sola being The Best bunny ever

Falon’din and Urthemiel
Ok so this is a tiny, insignificant thing probably, but as I was watching Ghil Dirthalen’s analysis on the DA:D cinematic, I was really excited by the discussion of the symbols on the "tambourine" pictured in so much of the marketing, and how they possibly relate to the Evanuris and Old Gods. Click below for poetry and vague speculation and feels(?)!
Tumblr media
(The image is a screenshot from Ghil Dirthalen’s video, that shows their suggested lineup of how these symbols correspond with the biggies and baddies of legend!)
Specifically I was struck by the notion of Falon’din and Urthemiel being linked, as hinted at by their statues in DA:O having heads shaped similar to the three-pointed symbol on the tambourine above. It immediately reminded me of this stanza from a Wallace Stevens poem, “Sunday Morning”:
Death is the mother of beauty; hence from her, Alone, shall come fulfillment to our dreams, And our desires. Although she strews the leaves Of sure obliteration on our paths, The path sick sorrow took, the many paths Where triumph rang its brassy phrase, or love Whispered a little out of tenderness, She makes the willow shiver in the sun For maidens who were wont to sit and gaze Upon the grass, relinquished to their feet. She causes boys to pile new plums and pears On disregarded plate. The maidens taste And stray impassioned in the littering leaves.
Death (Falon’Din) is the mother of Beauty (Urthemiel) – you can’t have one without the other. Everything is temporary, and it’s that very fact that gives life meaning and poignance.
(This logic also makes sense with Elgar’nan being matched up with the Old God of Night – you can’t have day [Elgar’nan, born of the sun] without the night [Lusacan].)
I’m not sure how this will relate to the wider plot of DA:D, but I love this poem so much and thought maybe one of the writers for Dragon Age: Origins did too. (”Death is the mother of beauty”– what an absolutely METAL line!!!)
It’s also worth noting (as Ghil Dirthalen does) that Urthemiel’s (and by extension Falon’din’s?) soul can be preserved via Morrigan’s ritual towards the end of Origins. This seems like something that has to have an impact down the line... though knowing Bioware, I definitely won’t see it coming.
(No one but fans of Solas need keep reading... lmao)
"Sunday Morning” is written in iambic pentameter, and posits that worship of a Divine being outside of Nature doesn’t make sense – nature is Divine.
There is not any haunt of prophecy, Nor any old chimera of the grave, Neither the golden underground, nor isle Melodious, where spirits gat them home, Nor visionary south, nor cloudy palm Remote on heaven’s hill, that has endured As April’s green endures; or will endure Like her remembrance of awakened birds, Or her desire for June and evening, tipped By the consummation of the swallow’s wings.
I image Solas reciting this to my Inquisitor, since it fits with his dreamy, lyrical, and grim way of speech... and his seeming distaste for most organized religions, and his deep love and respect for nature. (How did I find a way to turn this Evanuris/Old God speculation into something that gave me the Lost Elf Feels???? I’m not sure but I’m hurting)

1, 11, 27, 33?
oops i realized idk which ask meme this is for so i am picking the ones i like <333
1 - who is/are your comfort character(s)?
tbh i think i still don't really know what comfort characters means. i think it's like. media that is comfortable/that you go back to a lot? that's how i'm choosing to interpret it here. tamora pierce's sandrilene fa toren; megan whalen turner's helen and sophos; e. jade lomax's rupert hammersfeld vii; martha wells' murderbot
also my own dnd blorbos al;sdfj al;sdkfj
11 - already answered for both ask memes!
27 - What three songs remind you of them?
for sum - help i'm alive by metric, age of ice by thao, sleeping giants by the crane wives
33 - Would they do good in a trivia game?
tâm would be godawful. kima doesn't care enough. thi is pretty smart and has a good memory but just wouldn't know enough trivia unless it's specifically about the wastemarsh, so they're only good in an au. sum would crush at trivia but good luck getting it to play in the first place.

luv the idea of an elvhen inquisitor who gets worse as solas gets better - an inquisitor, initially, so optimistic about this world, a dalish herald who wants so badly to be a sign of peace and good and kindness in the world, broken down by the constant assault of andrastian idealism that they face, by the pitying looks on mother giselle’s face, as though they can’t possibly understand the religious implications, the poor little rabbit. an inquisitor who protests, at every turn, the idea of belonging to a human Maker, whose beliefs in the gods of their people are always belittled as lesser, as uninformed, as wild and feral and childish, by a chantry that expects its worship, that feels it owed. give me solas becoming more human and an elven herald becoming more unraveled, more angry, more desperate to shake the image of the human god whose shadow they walk in.
god, imagine solas, realizing, for the first time, that these people might be real enough to care about, at the same time that a dalish herald realizes that there isn’t enough left to save.
give me an angry inquisitor, righteous and whole, clutching at their own gods and goddesses, grinding their heels in against a world that would see it erased. give me a herald who hears the chant and seethes, who would, in the end, bring the whole world down if it meant, fundamentally, never being treated as lesser for their belief in the religion of their people, never being hailed as the horseman of an unfamiliar and irrelevant god, and never, gods willing, hearing that goddamn shemlen song about the dawn coming again

I got bit by the writing bug and thought, “since Padme was senator of Naboo did somebody else take over being queen? Did Naboo have a regent?”
this lead to a rabbit hole of the Padme’s family and the extended Skywalker family.
this is what I have. The Skywalker side is more detailed and comes from several Legends comics while I got padme’s side off a site and didn’t check sources so excuse anything missing or wrong.
Shmi Skywalker❤️The Force=Anakin Skywalker
Shmi Skywalker❤️Clagg Lars
Owen Lars❤️Beru Whitesun
Ruwee Naberrie❤️Jobal Naberrie=Padme Naberrie and Sola Naberrie
Anakin Skywalker❤️Padme Naberrie=Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa
Luke Skywalker❤️Mara Jade=Ben Skywalker
Leia Organa❤️Han Solo=Jacen Organa-Solo, Jaina Organa-Solo and Anakin Organa-Solo
Sola Naberrie=Ryoo Naberrie and Pooja Naberrie
So. Take a look at this tree. Ya see anything odd about it? Is it odd that Leia, who hated Vader and saw him as Vader even after she knew he was her biological father and BLEW UP HER PLANET WITH HER PARENTS ON IT, and she named her kid after him?
Is it just me or does this strike anyone else’s as odd? Like, you have people to name a kid after. Why choose the one who she never even recognized as her family? Just a thought
Maybe have somebody from Naboo come by, tell Luke and Leia about Padme. Breha was Leia’s mom, her mother, the woman who raised her. But she admires Padme. She remembers her from when she was born. Does Luke know anything about Padme? That she was a queen and a senator? That he’s technically a prince?

Falling into the modern girl in thedas rabbit hole again lol.
I want to do a human girl(?)/solas thing. She’s not important to the inquisition, and mostly works as a seamstress, and occasionally as a cook.
she’s highly aloof. I want her to be a foil to solas because she’s so distant from the other people. I personaly think that being stuck in a medieval level world would be unbearable, and I’d have trouble relating to the humans who live like that. I want her highly educated. She’s forgotten more than most people ever knew in the modern world. Putting her among people without even a third grade level education is…. So. She’s bored and she can’t really see the people around her as people and she’s trapped in filthy circumstances and have I mentioned that she’s bored???? It’s be hell to go from a world of constant stimulation to can’t do shit after sunset because it’s too dark.
Anyway she doesn’t really deal with anyone important until the journey to sky hold when she and solas fall together naturally as the quiet kids lol. She’s bored and in pain and can’t even find yarn to keep herself busy so she starts asking solas questions because hey even if he sees her little more than an animal, she sees him as a mildly interesting video game character so it’s like. A perfect match lol.
I also keep using she but I’m pretty sure she’s non binary in my head. Also a mage who learns to shapeshift because magics the one thing she doesn’t already know a lot about. She shifts gender and races and into animals. Anything she can. I think I’ll call her Mouse because she’s so quiet and no one actually knows her real name.
A scene: solas and mouse in skyhold are chilling together in scilence. He’s sketching her something and she’s knitting. Sometimes she sings to herself while she knits, because she’s so used to working to music that the silence gets oppressive sometimes. The song is definitely Follow you into the dark by death cab for cutie.
“Love of mine, some day you will die, but I’ll be close behind, I’ll follow you into the dark —“
But then she cuts herself off because solas has dropped his book, staring at her even paler than normal because: Oh.
This human is mortal. One day she’ll die. All that raw intelligence, all that quiet strength, all that deep contemplation would one day be no more than dust.
Solas leaves without saying anything to her. He has to fix this.

Day 11 - Wander
Tumblr media
Nother Even one. And I must say, to this prompt with Dragon Age as a theme nothing really felt more fitting than fracking Solas.
Let me be honest, not the biggest fan of the guy. As a person he kinda effed up in my eyes during my first playthrough with Carl as an Inquisitor - where they ended up to be very close friends before Solas did his thing there. I'm no big fan of betrayal and manipulation. And he was an absolute bitch towards Dorian souuu, yeah, I am so gonna pull his fracking ears from Mr Spock- to Roger Rabbit size next time they meet >:|
Anyway, apart from that, on a storytelling perspective I deeply appreciate Bioware throwing this dude after us. Check it, Disney! This is the whole "Good guy was the villain all along"-trobe done right. An adversary with depth and a refreshing plotline with all that dramatic development towards Inky and all that. I can't wait to see how this is gonna continue in Dragon Age 4 :3
I'm really satisfied how this one turned out....although I'm glad the gras swallowed that sad excuse of a foot XD
Ivy is always such a pain in the ass to add as a detail into a picture, but boy is it worht it everytime <333

Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts Pt. 19c
A Public Truce
Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts Masterpost First: Gaining an Invitation Previous: The Fate of the Empress
The PC walks out onto the balcony with Celene, Briala, and Gaspard.
Briala: Your sister attempted regicide in front of the entire court, Gaspard.
Gaspard: You’re the spymaster. If anyone knew this atrocity was coming, it was you.
Briala: You don’t deny your involvement.
Gaspard: I do deny it! I knew nothing of Florianne’s plan! But you… you knew it all and did nothing!
Briala: I don’t know which is better: that you think I’m all-seeing or that you’re trying so hard to play innocent and failing.
Celene: Enough! We will not bicker while Tevinter plots against our nation! For the safety of the empire, I will have answers.
1 - Dialogue options:
Gaspard was planning a coup. (Reveal evidence of Gaspard’s crimes to the empress.)
Briala helped stop Florianne. (Use the evidence gathered about Gaspard to support Briala.) + Solas approves
All of you are at fault. (Try to force all three leaders to a truce.)
All of you are at fault.
If court approval is not high enough: PC: Every one of you is implicated. You all conspired to allow this to happen. Celene: This is hardly the time for histrionics, Inquisitor. Do be serious. [Back to 1]
If approval is high enough: + Solas approves Divine: Cassandra +1, Vivienne -5 PC: Every one of you is implicated. You all conspired to allow this to happen.
Celene: That’s a bold claim, Inquisitor. Are you prepared to defend it?
2 - Dialogue options:
General: You lured Gaspard here. [3]
General: Briala’s playing both sides. [4]
General: Gaspard planned a coup. [5]
3 - General: You lured Gaspard here. PC: You allowed the grand duke to sneak soldiers in, hoping he’d make a politically foolish move. Gaspard: That’s duplicitous even for you, Celene.
Dialogue options:
General: Gaspard, you fell for it. [6]
General: Briala played you both. [7]
6 - General: Gaspard, you fell for it. PC: You took the bait. I met your mercenary captain, Your Grace. He says you were ready to attack tonight. Briala: Clever move, if you were trying to get hanged for treason. [8] 7 - General: Briala played you both. PC: Of course, Briala was outplaying everyone. She killed your negotiators and forged new documents. Briala: So what if I did? Take me down, and elves will riot in every city in the empire. PC: They won’t. Not when they learn you were sleeping with the woman who purged Halamshiral’s alienage. [8] 8 - Choice dependent dialogue: - Blackmailed Celene first [Back to 2] - Already blackmailed Briala [9] - Already blackmailed Gaspard [10] 9 - Already blackmailed Briala PC: And Gaspard fell for Celene’s trap and was going to attack the palace. [21] 10 - Already blackmailed Gaspard PC: And Briala was playing both of you. She murdered your ambassadors and sent you each forged letters. Briala: Even if I did, you cant touch me. PC: No one will defend you once it’s revealed that you and Celene were lovers when she burned Halamshiral’s alienage. [21]
4 - General: Briala’s playing both sides. PC: Briala was sabotaging the negotiations all along. I have the documents she stole from your ambassadors. Briala: Even if I did, there’s nothing you can do about it. Lay a finger on me, and you’ll have riots in every city in Orlais. PC: The elves won’t stand up for you once they know you let your lover burn Halamshiral’s alienage to the ground. Gaspard: The Inquisitor’s outmaneuvered you, rabbit. I’m impressed.
Dialogue options:
General: Celene set you up, Gaspard. [11]
General: You staged a coup, Gaspard. [12]
11 - General: Celene set you up, Gaspard. PC: I’m not the only one you underestimated. Celene let you sneak mercenaries in. She lured you into a trap. Gaspard: Surprisingly underhanded, even for you Celene. [13] 12 - General: You staged a coup, Gaspard. PC: You were going to attack tonight. You brought mercenaries in addition to your soldiers. Briala: Clever move, if you were trying to get hanged for treason. [13] 13 - Choice dependent dialogue: - Blackmailed Briala first [Back to 2] - Already blackmailed Gaspard [14] - Already blackmailed Celene [15] 14 - Already blackmailed Gaspard PC: And Celene knew of Gaspard’s coup and let it go far enough to hang him for treason. [21] 15 - Already blackmailed Celene PC: And Gaspard fell for Celene’s trap and was going to attack the palace. [21]
5 - General: Gaspard planned a coup. PC: Gaspard brought hired mercenaries into the palace for a coup. I have the word of his captain. Briala: Oh, Gaspard. So predictable. Brutality is your only talent.
Dialogue options:
General: You’re no better, Briala. [16]
General: Celene let it happen. [17]
16 - General: You’re no better, Briala. PC: You don’t hold the moral high ground, Briala. You did murder ambassadors and forge documents. Briala: So what if I did? Take me down, and elves will riot in every city in the empire. PC: They won’t. Not when they learn you were sleeping with the woman who purged Halamshiral’s alienage. [18] 17 - General: Celene let it happen. PC: The empress knew what you were doing, and let you get far enough to make a public ass of yourself. Gaspard: Surprisingly underhanded. Even for you, Celene. [18] 18 - Choice dependent dialogue: - Blackmailed Gaspard first [Back to 2] - Already blackmailed Briala [19] - Already blackmailed Celene [20] 19 - Already blackmailed Briala PC: And Celene knew of Gaspard’s coup and let it go far enough to hang him for treason. [21] 20 - Already blackmailed Celene PC: And Briala was playing both of you. She murdered your ambassadors and sent you each forged letters. Briala: Even if I did, you can’t touch me. PC: No one will defend you once it’s revealed that you and Celene were lovers when she burned Halamshiral’s alienage. [21]
21 - Scene continues.
Celene: You’ve made your point. What do you want?
Dialogue options:
General: Work together for Orlais. [22] - Cassandra slightly disapproves + Sera slightly approves + Blackwall slightly approves + Cole greatly approves
General: You’ve been outplayed. [23] - Cassandra slightly disapproves + Blackwall slightly approves + Sera approves
General: You work for me now. [24] - Cassandra slightly disapproves + Sera approves + Cole greatly approves
22 - General: Work together for Orlais. PC: You are three of the best minds in the empire. You could do so much for Orlais and your people if you stopped fighting. Celene: It is remarkably… optimistic to believe that the three of us could ever forget our differences, Inquisitor. [25]
23 - General: You’ve been outplayed. PC: If you don’t want your dirty secrets revealed, you’ll all do as I say and work together. Briala: You realize this can only end in disaster? [25]
24 - General: You work for me now. PC: I beat you all at your Great Game. You work for me now. Gaspard: We’ll see how long this lasts. [25]
25 - Scene ends.
Next: Addressing the Court

Fall.
An accident during magic practice has unforeseen consequences. it’s kissing. the consequence is kissing
#feral verse, 1.1k words. on AO3.
“Can you raise it higher?”
Adaar smirked up at him. “If you want me to look up your skirts, you can just ask.”
Solas rolled his eyes and knelt down on the transparent disc of magical force keeping him aloft, folding his cloak around his legs with exaggerated care.
“Stop changing the topic and concentrate. I know you can do more than this.” He held out his hand. “If you’re so concerned about dropping me, join me. Or would that exceed your capabilities?”
She glared, and the disc sailed downward to come to a wobbling halt. Solas bit the inside of his cheek to stifle his smile. Still glaring, Adaar stepped onto it and seated herself next to him. She pressed both her hands down against the surface of the barrier, clenched her eyes shut, and the disc rose once more.
“Slowly,” Solas murmured. “You have brought source and effect into direct contact; whatever volatility you had to control before, it only increased.”
“Koslun’s ass, I know that.” And then she laid down, stretched out her legs, turning her entire backside into a conduit. With a jolt, they soared above the treetops; the clearing shrank beneath them. Solas could taste lightning. Strands of her hair began to rise with static.
“Oh, the arrogance of youth.” He wished he sounded more admonishing than he did; Adaar only laughed. She opened one eye to glance at him.
“You wanted me to go higher.”
“I did,” he conceded quietly. The rising winds tugged at their clothes, pebbled his skin with gooseflesh, tousled her hair. He reached down to card it away from her face and back between her horns—her eyes widened.
“Don’t—”
The barrier juddered underneath them and gave way. They fell.
The wind ripped the shout of surprise from his throat. He scrambled to grab a hold of Adaar; she caught his arm, hauled him against her chest. As they spun in the air, she tried to conjure another barrier but they still fell too quickly. Solas managed to ignore the panic closing up his throat for long enough to summon a storm, roaring winds racing upwards to meet them. They were buffeted by the gale, slowed in their descent.
The impact still hurt. It knocked the air from his lungs, winded him.
“Are you—Adaar—” He couldn’t string a sentence together; his panting took all his breath.
“F’ne,” she wheezed. “Considerin’.”
Bone-deep relief made him sag. Adaar’s chest rose erratically underneath his, which led to the realization that he had landed on top of her—no. She had pulled him close. Had tried to shield him, when she couldn’t manage a barrier to do it. That thought did similarly unpleasant things to his throat as the panic had.
“What happened?” he snapped. “You have never lost control so quickly.” He tried to sit up, climb off of her, but found that she still held him; her hands wrapped around his upper arms. She was watching him, wide-eyed, pupils swallowing the amber of her irises.
“Adaar.”
She blinked, swallowed, let him go.
“I—I got distracted.”
“By what? You must train your focus to withstand such things! This was a potentially lethal fall, and had it been a fight, you would—” She laid her palm against the side of his throat, calloused thumb resting on his lower lip, “—you would be…”
“Do you have any idea how you look at me sometimes?” she whispered.
Oh, no.
“I—” His throat was desert-dry, his voice gave out.
“I want to kiss you.”
Oh, no.
Adaar pushed herself upright and he tipped backwards, but she caught him with her hand around the back of his neck. He knew the look in her eyes: it was the one she had when she had figured out how to make a new spell work, how to bend her magic to her will in new ways.
His heart beat in his chest like a rabbit running for cover. He had to move. Had to stand, remove himself from where he still sat in her damned lap, hands pushed against her sternum and stomach as though he had any intention of pushing her away.
“You don’t—” he tried again, and again the words dried out halfway up his throat.
“I want,” she hissed, “to kiss you.” Her breath hit the skin of his face, hot and wet and smelling of lightning. Her nose slid against his, her hand cupped his cheek.
“Do you want me to?”
Solas let out a small, wounded noise, eyes falling shut. He nodded, helplessly.
She kissed him.
It was short. Soft. Sweet. It was not what he had expected.
He wanted more.
The whole world tilted as they tipped over, his arms flung around her shoulders, and then it tilted again as Adaar rolled them sideways. The cool grass tickled the bare skin of his shins and neck, the back of his head, until she squirmed one of her big hands beneath and pulled him up to her mouth again. She was so warm, and heavy, and every inch where they touched made something under his skin sing in relief.
It shouldn’t, was a stray darting thought. He knew what her skin, her touch felt like. They had slept beside each other often enough that he had ceased to keep count, she had pulled him into embraces, clapped his back, hauled him into trouble with her fingers around his wrist, knocked her elbow against his shoulders with laughter.
But when had he ever allowed himself to respond to such touches?
“Solas…” She began to pull away, and he clung desperately before he caught himself. He dug his nails into the meat of his palms to stop himself from grasping at her back.
“You’re trembling,” she said. Her hair was tousled again—it had grown longer on top, and kept falling into her eyes. A strand clung to her lashes, curled along her cheek. He swallowed heavily.
“I know,” he managed.
“Is that good or bad?”
“It is—”
When was the last time he had allowed himself to reach out to anyone like this? So long ago he had forgotten what it felt like. The sky had been different, the very air. Now, the taste of the thunderstorm was on his tongue. He felt Adaar’s heartbeat, heavy and jagged, where their chests touched. She was watching him intently, a hesitant half-smile lurking in the corners of her mouth. That slant of tender concern, as though he was something vulnerable instead of the nightmare in the woods.
He reached up and carded her hair aside, tucking the longest strands behind her horns.
“It’s good,” he said softly.
Watching that half-smile bloom into a giddy grin, her cautious gaze turn molten—his own heart seemed intent to choke him at the sight.
“Bet I can make you tremble even more,” she whispered against his lips.
Oh, the arrogance of youth.
“Show me,” he breathed, and clung to her.

It is now has the subtitle of "Tastes of Thedas" which it didn't have previously on the cover.
The Eggs a la Val Foret, while a play on Eggs Benedict, has a joke about Solas's head being referred to as like an egg.
Fereldan Hearty Scones suggest that wild mabari will happily help themselves to your cheesy and bacon filled scones. That like Fereldans they too are big fans of cheese and bacon.
Orzammar farms giant spiders for consumption.
Orzammar has a competition where they declare a sauce "Orzammars best" every year. The competition is stiff and people have committed crimes to win this competition.
Nug Pancakes now describe nug as having a taste similar to pork and rabbit. Previously in Origins it was described as an "unholy union of pork and hare". Which while it might seem pedantic to some, hare and rabbit are different in both animal and taste.
Roast turkey is a common dish served in the Free Marches gathers of nobility and the rich.
Antivan dinners are deemed a "late-night affair" in comparison to the rest of Thedas.
Varric's favorite dessert is Cinnamon Rolls.
On note of the cookbook itself, it holds the narrative tone of being written in an in-world voice as is usual with this genre of cookbooks, especially from this publisher. However, it eludes to real world conveniences and items at times, such as store-bought hollandaise sauce and plastic wrap. Which, such things aren't too unusual in this genre but it is worth noting that this cookbook stops the in-world voice seemingly at the recipe blurb and does not carry it into the instructions themselves.
