How has the Lycanroc been doing? And what will happen to him once he fully recovers?
He has been doing alot better. He still needs some wheel supports to move around easier but his legs are adjusting better.
It was heartbreaking because sometimes when he would move for long periods of time, he would be whimpering in discomfort.
Now he searches around the small forest area behind my house.
I've seen him get a light case of the zoomies once or twice.
He really seems to enjoy being around Sylvester and Kuriboh.
If he's getting better, then that's just the best.
As for when he gets better, we'll that depends on the results of him getting better.
He's going to need that back brace for a while, at least a few more months before we can change him to something less constructive.
My co workers suggested we start moving him back to the base since he's getting better and he can adjust to life in the wild.
He seems pretty miserable when me and my team are gone, but Purrloin has been his companion.
So even if we did try to get him used to being in the wild, I don't think he would be able to be alone.
And if he's that dependent on a companion, he wouldn't do very well in a pack of wild dog pokemon or even his own kind.
Wild dog pokemon like houndoom, arcanine, and Lycanroc live in packs, but it's more like a club.
If you're strong, you can stay. But if you don't contribute or can't stand on your own, you will get left behind.
I dont think this was a wild Lycanroc, and I'm not sure what he will be like when he's fully healed.
We definitely need to wait and see first.

So far the rehabilitation of this Pokemon has been...a rollercoaster, to say the least. While most Pokemon who are in pain are hard to help out, it's a whole other host of issues when there is emotional damage as well, much like with people. And unlike with humans, we can't exactly verbalize to them what their problems are and help them figure it out.
So I'll start from the beginning. Below are my logs for each day.
After giving the antivenin and then alternating Shuckle juice and antibiotics, Cacnea's health has vastly improved. His color is returning, and he's able to move around quite well, however, he was in a sort of delirium before. Now that he's more alert, he's hiding whenever we have to take labs, and has lashed out at a few of my techs. Now that we've got a scared and somewhat recovered Pokemon, I'm afraid this may end in some human and laboratory damages.
I decided that when the sun was highest today I would let Cacnea outside completely. When he was initially recuperating, we had him in a patch of dirt by the window, but after the first 12 hours or so he started to shy away from the light. He had been forced to live in such harsh conditions, that the very thing he needs to survive, sunlight, is something he hates. We'll have to move slowly at this point too because we don't want him to get burned by the sun's rays. No more than an hour or so each day if he can tolerate it.
I had decided that I was going to go out with Conks, my Greedent, and Leon, and harvest some berries and herbs from the garden. Maybe Cacnea needed a friend too, so going outside would help lure him out. Yesterday he didn't want to go outside, but something interesting happened today. My basket was full of fresh herbs and berries, and then as I turned away from the sun to wipe some sweat away, I find that my basket had been turned over. Specifically, the herbs that I had gathered for medicine had been destroyed. The berries were mostly untouched, but it has me wondering if the old ringmaster used herbs as a way to try and heal Cacnea before. The taste of them alone could be a reminder of the pain it went through. At the very least, he got some of the sunlight he needed.
Good and bad news; it seems the infection has come back a little stronger, so we're doubling up on the antibiotics. Every six hours instead of twelve, and then refined Shuckle juice mixed in with Cacnea's food. It's like a super concentrate of the good stuff. However, he seems like a tough little guy so I'm hoping he pulls through.
On the other hand, his attitude hasn't changed. He's a quirky little guy, has a lot of potential, and usually quite calm, but he's also quite mischievous. Likes to get into trouble, but that's probably more from the ringmaster situation, might think he's finally able to rebel. We'll see how everything else goes.
Cacnea is doing much better, signs of the infection are already starting to clear. Tomorrow we'll go back to the normal dose of antibiotics and then we'll work on his other physical capabilities. He's a crafty one, and will be more than capable of going on his own in another week. So long as we keep up with the infection.
He also doesn't seem to fight us as much anymore whenever we need to take vitals or carry him, he seems to know now what's going on and that we're trying to help him. He's also taken in four hours of sunlight today alone before he had to turn in. We may have to introduce a large sandbox for him at some point, just to finish the rehab.
The infection isn't spreading anymore and we were actually able to drain away some fluid from the cyst that was surrounding his wound. We used a special packing built of Whimsicott fluff soaked in a mixture of aloe vera juice, herbs and more Shuckle juice. As the cyst still has some of the infected fluid in it, putting this mixture in for Cacnea will help fight it. Only problem is the wound is on his right arm, and that seems to be his dominant. We'll see how everything goes, I have high hopes for this little guy.
It seems we're back to square one, well, square two. He's definitely still better than where he started with us and the infection is going away. However, after getting a lot of his energy back he decided to fight back when we were trying to take his labs. In hindsight I think he was behaving only as a way to play us for an escape attempt. He managed to get out, but Felicity, my Togekiss, was able to stop and convince him to go back. Only problem is, during the shuffle he reopened the wound on his arm and have to start over again. I am going to need a bit more time than expected, but he is doing very well. I'm actually glad he was able to fight back because that means he is getting better.

While I’m still in Ballonlea, I’ve heard stories of another Rapidash variant reported to be near a lake in these very Glimwood Tangle. I might just check it out if Miss Opal will allow me to

Cole (blonde) is from Almia and moved to Johto so he could be a Ranger AND a trainer, since they don’t have Pokemon trainers in Almia, and teams with Jay (blue) who's an ex-delinquent/Himbo from Alto Mare (latios/latias movie) but LOVES water types and only listens to Cole. They oversee the Ranger Station along the coast between Goldenrod and Olivine so they're over the Whirl Islands, and the National Park area. My random plot I have for them is that they get acquainted with my Galar Champ OC, and she asks them to do the Crown Tundra plot with her.
They do wear their hats I just really like how I draw their hair lol

Well, why not water
Clair: I was confused for a sec lmao
Anyway, Mag talked about the pond we have at the base once. But he forgot to mention that he once fell in because a drednaw snuck up on him. Ended up spilling all the pellets and small fish into it

@traveling-psychic; reaction to this!
Eruin had indeed found their rest being coloured with unfamiliar sounds and feelings, Celebi’s dream seeping across into their own. It was disorienting until they realised it wasn’t their own dreamscape, but the grass-type’s. Since both of them were psychic-types, the risk of one’s mental world overflowing onto the other was unfortunately high.
“It’s alright,” they answered, not denying the experience, but not seeming overly bothered, either. Celebi’s fear was all too obvious, and Eruin could still feel the residue of the nightmare itself. The lingering darkness, and the overpowering wash of pain and rage; both were surprisingly familiar to the Mew. Though it wasn’t exactly the same, still...
It had been a long time since they came into contact with that kind of darkness, real or not. The familiarity led them to reach out carefully with their paw and gently brush it against Celebi’s forehead, illuminating the space with a soft blue light, as a soothing aura emanated from the Mew. It had been a long, long time since Eruin had last done this.
A serene calm would wash over the two mythicals, eliminating the remaining ill emotions and replacing them with a sense of wellbeing. Eruin then pulled back their paw, tilting their head slightly at Celebi. “I’m sorry you had to go through that.”

How are partner pokemon identified? Do they have to wear a collar or tag?
It's a very similar process to how trainer and a lot of pet Pokemon are identified actually. Whereas most Pokeballs do this automatically, once a Pokemon decides to become your partner, you can get a microchip implanted in them that registers them to you, and also prevents Pokeballs from capturing them.

I feel so drained. I think I gotta head to Ballonlea and stay with Opan to recharge or maybe it’s because I haven’t eaten much today... hm
Decided to use corkboard to display my pin collections. Looking pretty random and nerdy. The first is my own, Gameboy was ordered from etsy specifically for the pokemon pins.
