Hi all,
Welcome to the last part of my 2024 altar tour! 4/4
What a year it has been! I have learned so much and made so many new friends! My altar has always been a reflection of my psyche, seeing it’s beauty reminds me of the beauty that exists within me. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this is my final little work space where I do pendulum magick and tarot readings. There is a devotional mug to Lord Lucifer which I use for our morning coffee chats. There is also Lucifer’s devotional dragon statue, as well as the dual scrying mirror for him and Faviel.
There is a normal mirror and a statue of a pharaoh’s tomb. The board which the flowers and offerings are placed on dawns Faviel’s sigil and candle. To Faviel I have offered a palm stone, flowers, an acorn, smoky quartz, some black earrings, and some grubs.
Beside him is my pendulum in a selenite charging bowl along with my pendulum mat.
The black and white image you see was a piece of art I made for Archangel Jophiel after he gifted me a vision a year or so ago. I use it whenever I’m reaching out to him.
Tumblr media
Beneath my altar is some space for storage where I keep my larger cauldron, mortar and pestle, larger candles, etc. There is also my stand where I keep my broom, fire poker, and shovel. My witch broom is wrapped in a protective seal. I use it to sweep ash from my prayer mat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, here are a few of the books I have in my collection that have greatly greatly aided me in my craft. Remember to do your research my dears!

•••
I wanted to end this tour off with my reading material because I want to emphasize how important it is to understand that “magick” is not just “stuff”.
I really enjoy all of my magical tools and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having and wanting pretty things or an aesthetically pleasing altar. In fact I believe aesthetic and care are acts of love in themselves. Don’t ever let someone shame you for wanting to decorate and indulge in the aesthetics of your craft.
But please do remember that our greatest magical tool is our minds, our senses, and our experiences- our brains. Remember to read read read lots of material from many different sources. Contemplate honestly on everything you read, hear and experience. Do not take everything you believe today as a fact, do not box yourself in to anything. (Maybe that’s the Luciferian in me speaking lol)
Learn how to do magick alone, without any tools. My magick is not my stuff, although my stuff greatly aids me in my magick. Does that make sense?
Thank you so much for reading! I look forward to growing and learning so much more this year! :)
Blessed be!

Hybrid Class Review: Investigator part 3
Tumblr media
(art by LaminIllustration on DeviantArt)
Archetypes
The investigator boasts an interesting set of archetypes, so let’s dive right in! I tend to divide these archetypes into four categories.
Perhaps the first group I’d like to go over are those investigators that are still expressly detectives while dropping the alchemy in favor of other specializations. Perhaps none is more iconic here than the sleuth, which feels like it was made specifically to be a non-specialized detective that drops alchemy entirely in favor of having a pool of luck to help them through the day. Meanwhile, the Jinyiwe focuses on divine mandate and gains spells from such a source, while the Psychic Detective instead uses psychic magic and their sensitivity to gain clues and insights as well as defend themselves. Scavengers also exist which use quasi-magical gadgets instead of alchemical potions, and the Questioner augments their interviews with bardic magic. Additionally, Spiritualists (the archetype, not the class) channel the spirits of the dead to gain answers, while Malice Binders turn witchcraft lore against the wicked.
Of course, some investigators keep the alchemy while still having their own specializations as detectives. Bonded Investigators make use of a familiar ally, for example, while Steel Hounds are never without their trusty firearms. Ciphers investigate by being supernaturally unnoticeable by those that would stop them, while Cult Hunters and Infiltrators both finds ways to find and put a stop to secret societies and insular groups. Others specialize in gleaning secrets from the dead, such as Gravediggers and Dread Investigators, though their methods differ. Empiricists use unfailing logic to defeat deception and trickery, while Profilers use psychological profiles to determine suspects. Forensic Physicians are trained to glean secrets from the dead in a more mundane manner, while Skeptics use their keen senses and knowledge of parlor tricks to reveal fake hauntings and deal with the real ones. Meanwhile, Guardians of Immortaility, Lepidstadt Inspectors, and Ruthless Agents are known for their dogged pursuit of their goals. Finally, Hallucinists use mind-altering substances to reveal the truth, while Lamplighters reveal with alchemical light sources.
Of course, there are some so-called “investigators” that actually deserve investigation of their own, notably the Conspirators, who hide their activities and deceive others, and the Masterminds, master manipulators that can coach their allies on plans in advance.
While plenty of investigator characters may not actually be professional detectives, some of these archetypes are expressly not that while still using their brilliant intellect. Some are scholars and archaeological collectors, such as Antiquarians, while others study mysterious beasts like Cryptid Scholars. Meanwhile, Cartographers and Star Watcher, who study their charts for very different effects, are also a possibility. Engineers create inspired devices, while Holomog Demolitionists destroy with shocking precision and cunning. Utterly ignored but shockingly competent is the Majordomo, who serves dutifully and organizes those under them to great effect, while Tekritanin Arbiters put their brilliant minds to resolving conflict. Natural Philosophers meanwhile study nature directly, while Portal Seekers study the realms beyond the natural. Finally, Reckless Epicureans test their experimental formulae on themselves, while Toxin Codexers specialize in understanding poisons even beyond the standard investigator’s knowledge.
As you can see, these archetypes come in all shapes and sizes, but all in the end fall back on the core theme of the investigator, which is finding the truth. That truth may be the mysteries of a crime or misdeed, or they may be more esoteric such as scientific advancement, occult mysteries, and beyond.
That does it for today, but tomorrow I’ll share some thoughts on the class as a whole.

stuff the witches were talking about i didn’t fully understand
Here I am, trying to explain some things I didn’t really understand myself before. Hope this will come helpful.
THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
Now that I looked into it, i understand it at least a bit. I’ll try to explain it to you.
The Law of Attraction is the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on. The Law of Attraction is the thing, that materializes our thoughts into reality. All thoughts turn into things eventually. Etc. If you focus on the negativity, and bad things you will keep on feeling sad. But if you focus on the good parts of the life, become ambitious of what you want to achieve, and you believe in yourself, at the end, you can do it. It is like witchcraft- witchcraft is basically a big law of attraction. See, you light a candle, etc. red for love, with the intention of attracting love into your life. If you write a spell or if you just say your intention with the most powerful words you can find, you are great to go. It is basically speaking or writing down your intentions, being clear with them and they are send into the universe like a bunch of vibrations. Yet somehow, they come back and they manifest, so you reacieve the love you were looking for! Not a lot of people understand it fully, but, if it works, there is no need to really bother.
so, you basically attract whatever you think about.
MANIFESTING
if you are new to withcraft, you might be already confused. So here I am again, trying to explain it all to you.
Manifestation is basically the result of the Law of attraction. Etc. You send out vibrations with the intention “i attract money and wealth” and manifesting is basically you getting what you let out, so you recieve more money.
Manifestation works alongside the Law of Attraction, a universal rule which is that thoughts can become things.(as i explained above).
You have done a spell, and it doesn’t work. Remember the law of attraction? You have used that just now to make the spell. And you are using it maybe even right now, unconciously. It works like this- if you keep on worrying about your magic, doubting the spell and thinking that it won’t work, it won’t. Try focusing on what you love and on what makes you feel good and happy and alive. Soon you’ll be attracting more of THAT. Manifestation is a magickal way of getting what you want, and the easiest and most powerful way to do that is to feel it. You can also use visualization to aid in manifesting. What I also do, is that i forget. I just forget when I did a spell and let it work for itself. The only thing i tell myslef when i think about it is “It is going to work, my magick works.”
A quick spell to get rid of anything what is blocking you away from manifesting:
You will need a piece of paper, pen, a candle (or just matches).
Center yourself. Take a few deep breaths and focus on what you are doing right now. You can  burn some herbs or an incense to get rid of unwanted energies that are trying to interrupt your spell. Ground yourself by keeping your fett on the floor, imagining roots coming into the ground from you.
The first step to manifesting is to let go. So think of what’s holding you back from what you want. Whether it’s an unhealthy relationship, self-doubt, or money troubles, focus on what it is that you want to release. Write down what you want to let go of at the top of a piece of paper, focusing the energy and feelings you have as you write. Be intentional. You can write something like “I am done living in a place of fear” or “I release any self-doubt I may have” or “I am done living from a place of scarcity.” Again, this should feel right to you.
Now, burn it. Either put it in a fireproof bowl, fireplace or burn it by a candle, imagine the fire sending your intentions to the universe. Do it as many times as you like, until you know that it works and you have no doubt. Now ground yourself again.
Oof. This was hella long. I hope you understood at least a bit.
WHAT ARE ALL OF THOSE HERBS, CRYSTALS AND CANDLES FOR?
If you are a beginner witch, you might be wondering: Do I need all of this? Mugwort for this and that, incense, candles and a lots of shiny crystals? Why do all of the witches use these? What are they good for?
First, no, you don’t need any of these. All you need is yourself and a clear intention to work your magic. A lot of witches burn candles while doing spells. Why? Because candle magic is really simple, all you need is a candle and matches.  “ Candle magick is a kind of alchemy, where all elements are represented — fire of the flame, air to feed it, melted wax for water, and solid wax for earth” so the candles empower your intention. You can also choose a colour of the wax, essential oil, herbs or carve a sigil into them. Candle magic is really great way to start.
All of those herbs, witchy tools, colorful candles are here to only strenghten your intention with their own energy. When you look at a rose, you might start thinking about romance, love, peace... these are the magickal properties of a rose. See, every item gives off an energy. You can keep your magic as simple as with only yourself and your intention, or you can add in various crystals or herbs only to strenghten it, But why herbs? How do you use them while just saying out your intention? You can burn them (pls be careful when doing so) if you are doing a spell for focus or memory, try burning some rosemary in a fireproof bowl, or lighting a rosemary incense. You can also add crystals around yourself while casting a spell to empower it with their energy. So if you are casting a money spell, try surrounding yourself with citrine, aventurine, anything golden, tigers eye... or of course, just some programmed clear quartz will do.
Both of crystals and herbs can be incorporated in witchbottles also. And jars are simply for storing these herbs.
If you are a beginner witch, there is no need to go off and buy tons of crystals like i did and go broke (like i did). A clear quartz is a substitute crystal for any you would need. As well as is rosemary for any other herb/plant, and aswell as is the color white for any other color of candles. And of course, you can find tons of herbs and spices in your own kitchen cabinet already. Cinnamon, nutmeg, thyme, rosemary, basil... these might already be in there.
AS ABOVE, SO BELOW
you might have seen this quote or rather a saying somewhere before. I did a longer research on it, there is not much of  a content out there.
(I will update this in a while, pls wait)
WHAT THE HECK IS BINDING MAGIC?
if i had to tell you right now, i wouldn’t know myself. Here i am to research it and give you some information!
A magical binding is simply a spell or working that restrains someone , preventing them from doing something. It is often used to keep the individual from causing harm to themselves or others. It is usually done in a positive way of preventing the person from doing harm themselves or the others. It’s like stopping them from doing bad stuff.
haha i think this is enough, you got it, right?
WICCA, WITCHCRAFT AND PAGANISM
final question. Which is which? what am i?
WICCA
is a religion, a belief. All wiccans are pagan, and they are also witches (basically pagan witches). They practice magick and witchcraft alongside with believing in divine energies. They follow the moon phases, that each moon phase has a different magical meaning. They celebrate 8 holidays- sabbaths, or either called pagan holidays. And since it is a religion, wiccans believe in a God and a Goddess, or multiple deities which is called eclectic wicca.
WITCHCRAFT
a witch is someone who works with herbs, potions, casts spells, crystals, natural healing... someone who does energy workings. Witches can be Muslim, Christian, whatever religion they choose to believe in, or they don’t have to be religious at all.
PAGANISM
is a wide  variety of beliefs, in which is the nature worshipped. Pagans follow religious guidelines drawn out by nature- seasons, moon phases, weather... There are maaaany gods and Goddesses, they usually represent a part of nature or a celestial body. They can choose to wroship Celtic, Greek, Hindu, Chinese, Egyptian deities and many more. Pagans believe that we should not be superior to nature, she is the one who created us afterall. It’s like an umbrella of religions, under which are Hinduists, Wiccans, Shamanists...
IN CONCLUSION
All wiccans are pagan, but not all pagans are wiccan.
All wiccans are witches, but not all witches are wiccan.
boom. Period.
I hope you understand it all now, if you notice any mistakes, feel free to correct me.

Polish School of Magic or what Rowling gets wrong about Poland
In short: many things.
The only mentions of polish wizards come from two instances - some Quidditch team  (Grodzisk Goblins) and Hagrid’s visit to Europe (with some goblin mention, again).
Why goblins, anyway? There is no such creature in real polish mythology. Instead, there are much more Harry Potter-esque things such as: Beast of Krakow, Dragon of the Wawel Hill who is the most famous and ferocious creature in all Eastern Europe. The majestic power of this beast can only be matched with majestic power of its city of dwelling - Krakow, to put it simply, is the city of Polish kings.
Below: Krakow, the city of “goblins”, according to JKR:
Tumblr media
But let me guess - goblin invokes this image of rudeness and primitivity that probably comes from british understanding of poles as construction workers and such. It is curious that nuanced portrayal of poor people that is reserved for characters like Snape is not allowed to poles. They are “goblins” but Snape is a “working class hero”.
What I will describe below, is my headcanon based on what I imagine Wizarding Poland to really be like, sans goblins and other imperialist fantasies but based on my own observation of Poland as both pole and outsider (because, unfortunately, I am both).
Personality,  culture
Quidditch champion image as rude and loud lads couldn’t be farther from the truth. Polish wizards, much like their friends in neighboring Czech Republic, are wise, eccentric, philosophical and brave people. They have been blessed and cursed with difficult history (Such as Partition of Poland and German and Soviet Invasion) and know very well how to operate in secrecy. In fact, they are the most secretive of all european wizards and if muggle were to accuse them of witchcraft, they would deny the fact to their last breath. In the same time, polish wizards love magic and often risk everything to pursue their next magical experiment. They are prone to be idealistic and live with their head in the clouds, sometimes literally, which can lead to both troubles and brilliant inventions.
Some believe that Nicolaus Copernicus, the genius astronomer who placed the Sun at the center of the Universe, was a polish wizard (painting by polish artist Jan Matejko):
Tumblr media
This image of genius, sudden discoveries and epiphanies is valued in Poland to the point that students of Polish School of Magic wear stars indicating their year on their uniforms - to honor Copernicus.
However, poles aren’t Ravenclaws in disguise - they are traditional, obedient and lawful people at the core and no polish wizard, even the smallest first year, would dare to cheek their headmaster or teacher the way Harry and co. do.
Teacher - student relationship is sacred in Poland and it’s almost like your second parent -  someone to be treated with utmost respect. This can lead to quite harsh hierarchies in Wizarding Poland.
Looks
Polish wizards dress modestly, colorful suits Weasley Twins style are not for them. They can sometimes even look monk-like (or medieval knight-like) in appearance. Since Poland is filled with minor aristocracy called szlachta (and I am proud to belong to it, too*) many polish wizards openly wear their coat of arms on their clothes. (*If you are wondering whether I have a coat of arms - yes, I do).
Polish School of Magic uses dark red monk-like hoods with more normal suit under as an unifroms.  Since they want to be the guardians of well respected traditions, it fits them.
This doesn’t mean that poles are somber, though. They can be playful but in their distinct, “I challenge you” way. They can be competitive and fiery to the highest degree, especially when their honor or honor of their school is involved. They are indeed the most patriotic of all wizards, thinking of themselves as separated not only from muggles but from foreigners too.
Relationship with muggles
Polish wizards do not like muggles very much but unlike Britain, it rarely comes in a form of hostility but rather patronizing and light mockery. Rather than valuing pure blood, poles just think of themselves as superior to muggles in intelligence. They are especially suspicious of muggle disrespect of culture and the past which leads to wizards thinking that muggles are morally and spiritually, rather than genetically, impure. However, there was never an attempt to deny muggleborns education - in fact, they are welcomed with open arms and often even relief - “Finally, another one of us!”. This makes them a bit closer to Grindelwald’s idea of superiority than Voldemort’s one.
Music
Anyone knows Chopin, the great french-polish composer and indeed, poles adore music. To the point that Polish School of Magic considers participation in a school choir mandatory. But highest praise is reserved for those who dare and pick up an instrument (be it violin, cello, horn, piano or something else) to join the School Orchestra. If Triwizard Tournament accepted Poland, they would arrive in most curious way possible - operating the giant musical machine which would look like a church organ mixed with piano and other instruments. The headmaster would play it and the students (dressed in cloaks) would accompany him with some strange melody to make the grandest entrance ever.
Polish School of Magic
Pictured below: Frombork
Tumblr media
Thanks to Copernicus, magical astronomy and astrology are best subjects to learn in Polish School of Magic. Unlike their colleagues in Prague who are obsessed with alchemy, potions and dark arts, poles are more interested in the spiritual so they also value divination in any forms and defense against the dark arts. Since living in a country as difficult as Poland forces you to  always be on your toes, teachers consider it important to teach their students nonverbal magic as soon as possible. They also encourage wandless magic and actually had a lot of luck with it (unlike other european schools). Thanks to a certain WW2 incident, they also offer a superior course of arithmancy (If you know what I am hinting at, well done!)
Pictured: Frombork Cathedral Bell Tower
Tumblr media
Since poles are not very practical people, they don’t teach their students about Magical Creatures at all (aside from a side course on dangerous creatures such as dragons in DADA). This just doesn’t fit their heady aesthetics. Being honest and reliable people, they also dislike transfiguration - something about turning things into animals and other things strikes them as unnecessary cruel and even devilish. Being pious at the core, poles want magic to always come from the source of respect and light. That’s why almost all students leave the school with full patronuses - most common of which is a white eagle, of course - the symbol of Poland. Poles are often so patriotic that even their best memories are linked to their national identity!
Poles are also good at charms and make superb magical duellists. In fact, not many nations can best them in this regard, if any. It is thanks to their wandless magic, wordless spells,  quickness of reaction and harsh discipline (almost military-like) instilled in them in their school.
Talking about discipline... Polish School of Magic’s discipline is indeed very strict. The school grounds are usually quiet, students know best not to laugh too loud, not to pull pranks or fool around needlessly. Spontanous duels are forbidden. Teachers love their work and always keep an eye on misbehaving individuals. Lazy, incompetent or misanthopic teachers don’t exist in Polish School of Magic. Instead they can be overly strict, demanding, mocking, conservative and overly eccentric. (This one is based on real life experience, everyone.)
Below: Ksiaz castle
Tumblr media
Teachers in Polish School of Magic lean old and getting a place there is very difficult and demands tons of connections. They also lean male but not just because of prejudice (although, unfortunately, such prejudice exists - Poland is a country of soldiers in many ways), because DADA course there is especially harsh and physically exhausting. (Some say it’s because they want to best Durmstrang and it comes with knowing your enemy).
Despite the notes of traditionalist gender roles, female teachers are usually well-respected, even more than male ones. And that’s why many female teachers are quite haughty and have queen-like demeanor.
Below: Ksiaz castle room
Tumblr media
But when do poles rest from all their strict training? The answer: when holidays come. Holidays are sacred for poles and many missteps are forgiven during them, rules become slightly more relaxed.
One of the curiously LESS regulated things in Polish School of Magic is love. While british and american wizards such as Snape may get into a puritanical rage seeing two students kissing passionately, polish teachers would just smile sweetly at them and leave them alone. Girls sending boys postcards is not considered cringeworthy as it is in Hogwarts (I am looking at you, Harry) but natural and enviable. In fact, teachers encourage students to dance together and on holidays such as Christmas, they even overlook duels related to love triangles (a rare case of them approving non-DADA duels). Poles can dance well and you can often find them waltzing in the school balroom in their festive robes. They also flirt well and all this combined with the fact how good they are at duelling, makes them formidable rivals in love for students from any other school, including Beauxbatons, especially considering that Beauxbatons boys lean narcissistic rather than chivalrous.
In the end, if Poland did participate in Triwizard Tournament, I think it would charm everyone with their quick wit, intelligence, modesty, good manners and passionate spirit.
Quite far from the “Goblin” stuff, isn’t it?

Magical Skills (Skyrim)
One of the coolest things about Skyrim is that the skills are so broad that a lot of different types of witchcraft fall under them. Even Alchemy, which is a Mage-leaning Thief skill, is a broad enough category to contain different kinds of magic.
Alchemy
Alchemy is the art of combining raw ingredients with matching effects to produce potions and poison. It is one of the three crafting skills in Skyrim, together with Smithing and Enchanting.
food magic
herb/plant magic
potion making
Alteration
The Alteration skill is raised by using certain kinds of spells that identify themselves as alteration spells. These alteration spells include the ability to don magic armor, detect entities either by illumination of the area or by magically sensing their presence, and the ability to temporarily paralyze.
astral work
candle magic
divination
energy work
hexes
light magic
protection
sigils
water magic
Conjuration
The conjuration skill is raised by casting Conjuration spells while enemies have detected the caster. The Summoning aspects of Conjuration raises the skill by the amount of time/damage output used in combat; these spells identify themselves as Conjuration spells and generally focus on summoning creatures from the planes of Oblivion or creating ethereal weapons from soul energy. Since Mysticism was removed, Soul Trap is now a Conjuration spell.
astral work
banishing
binding
death magic
energy work
entity work (animal, angel, deity, demon, fae, familiar, spirit, etc)
offensive magic
servitors & thoughtforms
shadow work
sigils
Destruction
Destruction spells serve as the main offensive for mages, as the majority of the spells in this school cause direct damage.
air magic
curses
energy work
ice magic
fire magic
hexes
lightning magic
protection
shadow work
sigils
wards
weather magic
Enchanting
Enchanting allows the Dragonborn to add certain magical improvements and buffs to weapons, armor, and jewelry.
altars & work stations
art magic
crystal magic
enchanting
energy work
magical tools
meditation
sigils
spell jars
Illusion
Some beings are entirely immune to Illusion magic.
Illusion is used to avoid confrontations with law enforcement or hostile beings, evade battles, and also buy time in battle for further maneuvering.
air magic
astral work
astrology
divination
emotion magic
energy work
glamours
sex magic
sigils
water magic
Restoration
Restoration is described as involving control over life forces. This skill makes it easier to cast spells like Healing, Turn Undead, and magical wards.
air magic
cleansing
earth magic
energy work
entity work (angel, deity)
fire magic
healing
protection
sigils
wards
water magic

Voluptas Noctis Aeternae {Part 6.16}
Tumblr media
*Severus Snape x OC*
Summary: It is the year 1983 when the ordinary life of Robin Mitchell takes a drastic turn: she is accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Despite the struggles of being a muggle-born in Slytherin, she soon discovers her passion for Potions, and even manages the impossible: gaining the favor of Severus Snape. Throughout the years, Robin finds that the not quite so ordinary Potions Professor goes from being a brooding stranger to being more than she had ever deemed possible. An ally, a mentor, a friend... and eventually, the person she loves the most. Through adventure, prophecies and the little struggles of daily life in a castle full of mysteries, Robin chooses a path for herself, an unlikely friendship blossoms into something more, and two people abandoned by the world can finally find a home.
General warnings: professor x student, blood, violence, trauma, neglectful families, bullying, cursing
Words: 3.6k
Read Part 1.1 here! All Parts can be found on the Masterlist!
______________________________
When Robin took her perch on the edge of the desk again, putting the books she had used during the class back into their place, she finally realized what had bothered her about the entire thing. Dumbledore had been the one to tell Snape to take over Morgan's class, and therefore he must've known that he wouldn't find him down here. That means he had either come here to wait for Snape, which was unlikely, or he had meant to seek out Robin in the first place. In which case he surely had known that she possessed the particular spellbook as well. And he had lied to her without her even noticing in the slightest. But… why on earth would he do any of that?
She frowned to herself, lost in thought until the door was opened once again, without a knock this time. Robin didn't even have to look up to know who it was, but by the time she did, he was standing in front of her already.
"What is it with you and that desk?" Snape quirked an eyebrow at her, and while he was undoubtedly humored rather than annoyed by her having claimed it as her seat yet again, Robin could also see that Morgan's class had taken its toll on him.
"It's the best spot in the entire room. Of course I had to have it." She shrugged with a smile, but stayed right where she was. "How did the seventh years fare with you?"
"It is safe to say they weren't too fond of having me as a replacement. Perhaps because they are unaccustomed to having a competent teacher, or perhaps because I simply demanded more of them than what they are used to. But truly I think it was a matter of personal distaste in the end." He replied in a sigh between exhaustion and annoyance, and Robin suddenly realized that she enjoyed being trapped between him and the desk way too much. She pushed the inappropriate thought out of her mind in an instant, and at the same time he did her the favor of sitting down next to her instead. "I tend to forget that people other than you and me are quite fond of Morgan."
"People other than you and me are bloody idiots."
"Indeed." He looked down at Robin with a not-smirk and an almost openly curious expression. "So, how was having your own class full of idiots?"
"Not half as bad as I expected, actually." She smiled up at him in return. "I did a revision of the entire year with them just like you suggested, but I tried to explain things a bit differently than you do. Perhaps it helped some of them understand it better."
"Did you really?"
"Yes! But honestly, I was more surprised by the fact that they respected me as an authority in the first place. Which means that, other than them being complete dunderhead like almost all students are, they were actually quite manageable."
"I am not sure which class you taught, but it certainly wasn't mine."
Robin laughed at the comment, and nudged him in the side with her shoulder. Something she had dared doing more often recently, and he had never protested. "It most definitely was your class of dunderheads! But they seemed to appreciate having me as a replacement. One girl even came to talk to me afterwards, and after getting her to stop crying, I told her to see you tomorrow morning."
"Why, pray tell, would you do that to me?"
"She needs help!" Robin rolled her eyes at him exaggeratedly, a statement in both directions. "And I already did the hard part for you, so you really only will have to tell her what she can do to catch up with the class."
"Who was it?"
"How am I supposed to know!?" Robin huffed with a laugh. "They're your students, not mine. She was tiny and cried a lot."
"They are twelve-year-olds, they all are tiny." Snape quirked an eyebrow at her. "Could you be a bit more specific?"
"Black hair, bushy eyebrows, really tan skin… Ravenclaw I believe."
"I see. She is rather clever, but has been doing poorly in class for a while now. And she came to you asking for help?"
"Basically, yes. I already explained to her why she needs to learn the basics of potion making, but you will know better what she can work on to actually improve. So I told her to see you tomorrow morning to get the help she needs."
"I was under the impression that you and I were friends. Why would you put me through that?"
"Because you're the professor! Dealing with students is your job!" Robin laughed, shaking her head to herself as she finally got up from the desk once more. "I'm not going to do all your work for you, you know."
"I never expected that of you." He replied in a sudden seriousness. "I never expected any of this, in fact, nor would I ever take your help for granted like that."
"I know." She gave him a small and hopefully reassuring smile. "And you hopefully know that I'm always more than happy to help you, no matter what."
"I do. Thank you." His grave expression made way for the usual calm, which in return made Robin sigh under her breath as he spoke on. "Still, you went out of your way to do me a favor, which means I owe you."
"Hardly." Robin replied with another humored huff. "You help me all the time, in so many ways, this really is the least I can do for you in return. You don't owe me anything."
"In my humble opinion, I very much do."
"Fine, if you insist on it… I will keep it in mind." She sighed, in the knowledge that arguing with him was pointless whenever he had set his mind to something. Instead she came to stand right in front of him now and motioned toward the office. "How about pre-dinner coffee? I still haven't told you about the little visit Dumbledore paid me after class."
"Why do I get the feeling that your afternoon was way more interesting than mine?"
"You're already right about that and you haven't even heard the story yet. Impressive."
"Let me prepare the coffee and you will have my fullest attention."
… … …
The last two weeks before Robin's two N.E.W.T. exams were filled with too much studying and too little sleep. From before breakfast until after dinner she studied for the theoretical part, often enough without actually attending the meals, and after dinner she would practice for the practical examination with Snape. He ended up giving her a mock exam based on what he remembered from his own N.E.W.T.s a few days before the tests, and Robin had a very hard time not crying over how much effort he actually put into helping her. It probably was a bit unfair, especially since he most definitely would never do this for any of the other students (nor any other person in general), but since he wasn't going to be the one testing nor grading her in the end, they both simply chose to ignore that fact. Life just wasn't fair, and if Robin was on the losing end so very often, she believed that she could also allow herself to be on the winning end for once. And really, if one looked at it in a different light, the only advantage she had in the end was that she had the most capable and competent study partner possible.
But there also was another problem, of an entirely different kind. Robin still had to take the normal end-of-the-year exams for all her other sixth year classes, which meant that times were prone to overlap. Once she had realized that a few days in advance, she had straight out panicked, right until Snape had dragged her to Flitwick's office and seen to it that the sixth year charms exam would be moved to a different time. Really, Flitwick was a helpful person in the end and once Robin had managed to state the situation more or less calmly, it had been beyond easy to reschedule his exam.
With the second test that needed to be moved however, they weren't so lucky. Morgan, of course, saw no reason to change the time of his exam just to accustom the 'pathetic ambitions' of one single student, and even Snape couldn't get him to change his mind. By that time Robin was on edge enough to burst, anxious beyond reason, and of course Morgan didn't have a hard time noticing and taking advantage of it in return. He didn't move his exam, and probably hoped that it would cause as many negative consequences for Robin as possible in one way or the other. Unfortunately for him, he had made that calculation without Dumbledore, who upon hearing of the issue demanded for the test to be rescheduled indeed.
Finally, and luckily enough, alchemy and magical creatures had originally been scheduled for such odd times anyway that they didn't pose a problem, and thus eventually all exams fit into Robin's week without overlap. Thank God… or rather, thanks to Snape. While Robin had always done the talking and made the requests, he had been the one to drag her around and make her do so in the first place. He had seen to it that she didn't just stay hidden in her rabbithole of anxiety and stress, and Robin was eternally grateful for that.
The exams came, and Robin found that NEWTs were exactly the same as the OWLs, just a tad more difficult. Fine, a lot more difficult. But she was well prepared, and sincerely believed that she had answered everything to her best abilities. The sixth year exams in comparison to that were a mess. She had spent so much time preparing for the two, way more important NEWT exams that she had hardly studied for the sixth year subjects at all, and she definitely noticed that during the tests. Too bad the bloody day only had 24 hours for her to use to study… But oh well, the sixth year exams didn't actually count for anything other than her pride after all, so perhaps it was alright not to get perfect grades in them for once. Or so she tried to tell herself, at least.
Practical potions was the last examination of the bunch, on Friday afternoon, and it honestly was the easiest out of them all. They were asked to brew a variety of minor draughts and serums, all of which Robin had excessively practiced for, and both she and the examiners (those nasty folks sent by the ministry) were surprised when she finished more than half an hour earlier than any of the regular seventh year students. Uncertain of what to do with her, the ministry workers had her check her work again, but Robin still discovered no flaw in it, so they reluctantly let her go already.
A week later, Friday in the second week of June, the normal exam results were released, and Robin found herself mostly devastated. She had been able to uphold her Outstanding in magical creatures, but that was the only good result she had gotten and the only thing that kept her from crying. In charms and alchemy she had barely made it to an Acceptable, while Morgan had actually gone all out and given her a Dreadful. Really, in Robin's eyes it couldn't have gone much worse.
When she sat in the office with Snape the night after the results had been released, sulking and trying very hard not to cry, the only thing that made her smile in the end was when he offered to break into Morgan's office and steal her exam to have a look at it and quite possibly prove that Morgan's grade was unjustified. While the offer was tempting, and it astonished Robin to see that he was actually quite seriously about it, she declined nonetheless. He would only end up getting in trouble for that, and she wouldn't have that for anything at all. It was only a bad grade that didn't even matter. A grade that counted for nothing. But it was very hard to remind herself of that from time to time nonetheless.
Sunday was the last day of the term, and as always it was accompanied by the obligatory end-of-term feast to celebrate the evening. It usually was a dull ceremony for everyone but the seventh years, so Robin found herself paying little to no attention to the lengthy speech and words of wisdom Dumbledore had to offer to this year's graduates. Neither did she listen to Cas and Jorien though, who were discussing Cas' failed attempt to convince her parents to let her visit Simon over the summer. They still were together and happy in their relationship at this point… obviously Robin had been wrong about them. At least Cas had started treating her boyfriend AND her friends as equal parts in her life after the incident in March, so it was a good thing that both had prevailed after all.
For the moment, Robin found herself amused at the sight of a seventh year Hufflepuff girl who clumsily made her way towards the front after being called up. Time for this year's honour roll, it seemed. All the seventh years had dressed up in their fancy robes and ball gowns for the night, a thing that had only started becoming an actual thing last year. But obviously not everyone could or should walk on high heels just because it was allowed on graduation night, and the sight just was too amusing to Robin not to snicker over. Poor Hufflepuff…
A boulder of a boy followed a few seconds later, a Gryffindor this time, and he came to stand next to the tiny Hufflepuff girl in the front. Robin wondered which subject he had been best in to make it onto the list, but to get an answer to that she would've had to start actually listening from the start. A few more people followed upon that, and Robin thought that this really was the most dreadful part of the evening, until a particular name caught her by surprise.
"Julius Campton," Dumbledore called out, "Top of the year in Divination."
The majority of people applauded like they had before, and Robin found herself frowning deeply as the boy in question made his way towards the front. She hadn't expected him to be good at anything, especially not divination. It was an easier subject, admittedly, but one needed to be a certain kind of person to actually be more than just good in it. And Julius wasn't that kind of person. Oh well… obviously she had been wrong about that yet again. Should the arse enjoy his honours, who cares…
"Lucinda Sparks," The headmaster went on in the same loud voice that Robin couldn't ignore anymore now, "Top of the year in Arithmancy and History of Magic."
If Robin wasn't mistaken, this was the older sister of her ex-roommate Melody. Who would've thought that their family also had children who weren't bloody idiots? Definitely not something Robin had expected. And anyway, why did those seventh years have their N.E.W.T. results already while Robin was still anxiously waiting for hers?!
"Robin Mitchell," Dumbledore called out, and Robin's blood froze in her veins while half of the Slytherin table fell into dead silence alongside her, "Top of the year in Potions and Herbology."
Oh god. What? No way… This was some practical joke, it had to be. Perhaps there was someone who had the same name a year above her. But when she looked around, nobody else was getting up from their seat, and when her gaze met Dumbledore's, he gave her the subtlest nod in history. Oh bloody hell… This wasn't supposed to happen.
Robin's legs made her get up on their own account, while her mind still wouldn't quite grasp the situation. She wasn't part of this graduating year, she wasn't supposed to be on the honour roll! At least not now… not when everyone looked at her like she was an alien amongst them. Approximately six people clapped as she made her way towards the front, four of them being seated at the head table, which however was barely registered in her head. She took her place next to the other students by Dumbledore's side, while the next person was called on already, but she still couldn't focus on anything other than the racing of her heart and the churning of her stomach.
This perhaps was even worse than her first ever day here. Because back then, she had just been one of many, a new face like everyone else. Now however most of the people (who still hadn't ceased gaping at her) knew exactly who she was, and it gave them all the more reason to hate her for standing here. In a place she wasn't supposed to be in, a place meant for some seventh year who was probably working way harder to get here than she ever had. Honestly, the honour roll had been an annoying joke to her until five minutes ago. She hadn't even listened to the bloody ceremony for that past six years, for heaven's sake!!! But now she stood up here in front of the head table, next to people who didn't know why she was here, looked at by people who didn't think she deserved to be here, and yet she was. Top of the year in potions and herbology. Bloody hell.
Three more people took their places next to Robin in the line of students, and it was only then that she realized that she was the only one wearing her school uniform. Everyone else was elegantly clad in dress robes. Great… At least the fitted black robes she had been wearing throughout the entire year were actually fancy enough to somehow keep up with the ball gowns of the other girls. Not that it mattered much in this case, she couldn't care less about looks, but it was something to ease her anxious nerves at least. Something other to focus on than the jealous and distasteful looks the people were throwing at her from the students' tables.
People applauded once more, for all the students up front, while Dumbledore and McGonagall handed out a certificate to each student. Robin took hers from McGonagall thankfully, and the professor offered her a small smile before moving on to the next person. At least Robin wasn't as unpopular among the professors as she'd thought… the head of Gryffindor seemed to like her well enough after all, even if she was in a rivaling house. Half a minute later, everyone went back to their seats without any ado, and Dumbledore went on with his speech for the graduates for a little while, but ultimately declared the beginning of the feast.
Robin didn't feel hungry anymore, even when she was safely sitting together with her two roommates again, who however were happily indulging in the meal themselves. They'd congratulated her for her honours, being sincerely happy for her in that at least, but ultimately they had no mind for the actual meaning of it. It was just a piece of paper after all, and they were still so far from away graduating that Robin honestly couldn't blame them for their short lived interest in the topic. Her mind however couldn't quite put the issue to rest, especially since she didn't even know her grades yet. How could they declare her best in a subject if she didn't have a grade? Or did Dumbledore know more than everyone else did, like always? From what she picked up out of snippets of conversations at her table, nobody else had their results yet either, so that at least was good to hear. Perhaps she should just be happy about her success, and let it be reassurance enough that her hard work had paid off. No matter if she thought she deserved it or not.
When she finally dared looking towards the head table, her eyes met Snape's immediately and that alone melted some of the tension in her body and mind in an instant. At least one person in the room seemed to think she deserved the honours, going by the barely-even-there expression of pride on his face. Then he quirked an eyebrow at her in feigned surprise, putting on that mask of perfect indifference, and Robin finally had to smile again. He just had a way of cheering her up in any situation, without even doing much at all. For another moment they simply looked at each other through the busy space between them, then the corner of his lips twitched for not even a broken second, and Robin looked back down at her yet empty plate with a smile. If that hadn't been an invitation for coffee later, she would return those honours straight away.

Favourite Professors: McGonagall
Professor McGonagall is someone Konn looks up to immensely. As he specializes in Transfiguration and later begs to undergo the ritual for becoming an Animagus, she is his closest and greatest ally and teacher. She always looks out for him and presents him with more opportunities to further his skill.
Least Favourite Professors:
Rakepick: As far as things go with Rakepick, her entire duration as a professor always rubbed Konn the wrong way. He hated her secrecy and interference with the Vaults. He begrudgingly worked with her to gain information and to find his brother, mostly using her as she used him.
Snape: He is mostly disliked due to the toxic relationship he develops with Konn. Always pushing Konn to higher standards than everyone else in unachievable ways, Konn always felt the need to meet them as Snape showed he cared for him and was his HoH. As someone afraid of failure, this was always something that stressed Konn. (Not to mention Snape always praises Merula.)
- RELATIONSHIPS -
Tumblr media
Brother: Allston Rainwater
Pureblood Wizard
Attended Hogwarts as a Slytherin
His Animagus form is a Golden Jackal
Allston acted as Konn’s parental figure for the most part. The two were inseparable. His love for his brother outweighs just about everything else.
He never wanted to get involved with the Vaults, but was given no choice.
Allston abstained from having any relations with anyone, often saying he had too much on his plate between the Vaults and his brother. Though later when Konn gives him a normal life, he’s revealed to be straight and marries a muggle woman, having two kids with her.
Misc Siblings: N/A
Father: Roland Rainwater
44 years old
Works for the Ministry of Magic as a high ranking official
Pureblood Wizard
Attended Hogwarts as a Slytherin
Had little interest in his actual kids, spent most of his time working and out of the house, only coming around with gifts just to disappear again.
Very wealthy.
It was suspected later that he was responsible for working with R and that he had pressured Allston into searching for the Vaults.
Mother: Charlotte Rainwater
42 years old
Pureblood Witch
Works as a journalist and writer, always traveling and hunting her next big thing.
Attended Hogwarts as a Ravenclaw.
She was always a bit of a narccisist. Always obssessed with her own career and luxury earninings. She spends big and lives freely, using her work as an excuse for the neglect she left her children with.
Love Interest: Talbott
Towards the start, Talbott wanted nothing to do with Konn. He found him dangerous and obssessive, his constant trouble-making with the Vaults always causing him to worry.
Konn crushed on him first after seeing how he worked with Transfiguration and learned he was an Animagus.
In attempts to get Talbott to notice him and strike jealousy, Konn asked Tonks to be his fake date to the ball. This rouse failed miserably as Talbott just thought they were dating.
During 5th year, Konn finally confessed how he felt. Talbott had his reserves, but agreed to a first date.
They compliment each other really well. Both specializing in the same areas, Talbott’s cool and collected often soothes Konn’s rampant lack of control, while Konn often convinces Talbott to come out of his shell.
While still chasing Talbott, over a summer, Konn and Hal have a brief fling before realizing they’re more like brothers and wondering what the hell they were thinking.
Best Friends:
Nymphadora Tonks
Rowan Khanna
Rival: Merula
Enemy: R, Rakepick, his father, and later on (I think for everyone) Voldemort, Ben Copper.
Dormmates:
Rowan
Barnaby
Murphy
Orion
Pets: His pet Fennec Fox, Vulcan. Vulcan was gifted to him by Allston right before he vanished. It is speculated Allston went home, left the gift, then went back to Hogwarts where he was finally trapped.

BACKGROUND/HISTORY
As an infant, Konnor was nannied by an elderly woman hired through services. She was strict and cold, pushing his incredibly young mind to work before it was ready. This was when he showed signs of being a metamorphmagus, always seeming to scare the living daylights out of the woman who could never keep up with walking into a room and seeing a different baby each time.
By the time Konnor had turned four, Allston was his primary caretaker. The two brothers were inseparable, always learning, exploring. They had great fun teasing all the teachers and incoming caretakers together. It just so happened, they also took more fun in seeing how much they could milk from their parents. Pizzas every night, horror movies on the screen. It was through fun, companionship, and love that Konn shaped and grew into a more controlled state. He was smart, always pushing Allston to teach him more and more. It got quite lonely once Allston began going to Hogwarts and leaving all year save for holidays and summer, but they wrote religiously and Konnor would always be bouncing and ready to beg his brother to share all he’d learned during the year once he returned.
Hogwarts. At this stage in Konnor’s life, it was finally his turn to go to the grand school he’d been itching to attend ever since his brother had… but it came bittersweet. Allston had never come home to celebrate his acceptance letter. Had never come home to prep, to plan, to discuss what happened that year. He’d vanished, and with it he took most of Konn’s excitement and control. As emotions ran rampant in the boy, he started his years at the school a freak. Lonely. They all talked about his brother, the expectations for himself. There was little love or care in what he did save for seeking out his brother. Many may say he grew jaded, untamed, obsessive. There was only one thing that really clung to his heart, the fennec fox his brother had left behind for him as a pet.
Indirectly, his parents taught him many things. Konnor, at heart, grew to be quite frugal, never taking advantage of anything given to him (lest it was another gift from his father that meant nothing at all). He was also taught what family really meant, that it was between those who meant something to you and should be protected at all costs. Though on a much opposite end, he also found he had to work twice as hard for any recognition, always pushing himself above and beyond to be anything great. Especially when he had Allston to impress.
After leaving Hogwarts at the end of his schooling, Konn went on reunited with his brother in full. While Allston never rejoined the wizarding world fully, becoming something of a vigilante to hunt down those that’d wronged him and threatened his family, Konn began avidly seeking out the Order. He was quickly accepted as a spy, doing frequent operation work while maintaining a line on his brother and making sure he stayed out of danger.
At one point, he was approached by a Death Eater, and nearly underwent necessary precaution to become a double agent, but Allston, Hal, and Talbott quickly ushered against the idea of their brother, friend, and lover being marred permanently by a symbol and risking his life more than he already did.
During the heat of the war, Konn asked Talbott to always be his. They then promised each other that once the battle and hardships were over, they’ll consider marriage and having a family together. However, it is quickly discovered it wouldn’t be so simple.
It is found out that in Konn and Allston’s attempts to bring their father to justice that he’s murdered in order to keep whatever secrets he might have had. This is then promptly framed on Allston who it catches up to later alongside much of his vigilante practices. When faced with the hard decision to persecute his own brother, Konn instead begs Talbott to help him remove Allston’s memories and give him a normal life. Removing all of Allston’s memories and replacing them with something much more mundane, they move Allston to America where he’s finally free from the perils of the wizarding world.
Konn never appears to be the same after losing his brother for good, but lives the rest of his life working and watching out for any oncoming threats. He and Talbott eventually do settle down with two adopted children together.
- PERSONALITY -
Tumblr media
Protective: Konn is protective of his loved ones to a fault. Deep rooted with paranoia, he is constantly fretful for his loved ones and does everything in his power to keep them safe while still trudging through the hell that is their experience in Hogwarts and beyond. He’s quick to jump at the defense of his friends and family, not afraid to risk his own hide in the process should it be necessary.
Short Tempered: Of his many rampant emotions, anger is the quickest one to flare and show. Anytime he’s frustrated or annoyed, someone is bound to know. Whether it be his shortness or the flaming red hair, you’re welcome to take your pick of context. He’s very quick to annoy and while true anger from him is hard to achieve, petty anger and annoyance is almost constant. Droning noises, interruptions, and blatant stupidity are all quick to grate his nerves.
Stubborn: Konn has never been one to back down from anything, and he never intends to. Driven by a need to prove himself and inability to let something go, he will see something through to the very end. This allows him all the qualities of a hard worker. He gives everything his all without any intention of slowing or stopping. Sometimes this also means doing the work for others if they can’t keep up.
Intelligent/Cunning: While irritating on many levels when he tries to be the smartest person in the room, Konnor truly is smart. He often gets things faster than most and while conventional learning is useless, his hands on learning style allows him to learn on the fly. He almost always has an answer for everything and uses this to aid himself and his friends whenever they’re caught in a bad situation. He also consistently keeps good grades on everything while at Hogwarts.
Ambitious: It’s no surprise as a Slytherin that Konn tends to aim high. Though not in the standard many may think, he doesn’t want glory or fame or money. His ambitions are often geared towards his power and loved ones. Whether it be proving to the world he can take down the Vaults and save his brother, getting all his loved ones out alive, furthering his own power, or even taking down R himself. He’s the kind to look at a challenge and want nothing more than to conquer it.
Loyal: Alongside his protectiveness, Konn would never leave someone he cared for behind. He’s not even the type to leave someone he cared very little for behind. Including Merula on some occasions. As far as Konn is concerned, the only person allowed to bully his people are him. He is quick to rise to any occasion to stick by and protect his friends. Should they need a hand in battle, to get out of detention, or simply a shoulder to cry on, he tries to always be there.
MISC
NOTE: This section may update from time to time.
Konn lives in Bloomsbury, London when not attending Hogwarts in the Rainwater family home and often invites his friends over to stay with him during the summer.
He’s attempted to play many instruments including the violin, flute, and piano but never felt it was for him in the end and lost his touch if he ever acquired it.
Despite never having much room to prove it, he is a huge animal lover and adored his time working with Magical Creatures, often wishing he’d spent more time dedicating to it.
Konn was born with awful vision, but as he learned to control his metamorphmagus abilities, his eyesight also varied and improved.
No one is really sure whether his metamorphmagus abilities were inherited or not.
Konn comes from a small family of only two uncles, an aunt, and three cousins on his dad’s side of the family. His mother was an only child.
He listens to 80′s rock religiously after Hal introduced him to muggle music and what he learned was called a ‘cassette player’. Hal let him use it once and never got it back.

Rigid Flexibility
"The straight-grained pine wand always chooses an independent, individual master who may be perceived as a loner, intriguing and perhaps mysterious. Pine wands enjoy being used creatively, and unlike some others, will adapt unprotestingly to new methods and spells. Many wandmakers insist that pine wands are able to detect, and perform best for, owners who are destined for long lives, and I can confirm this in as much as I have never personally known the master of a pine wand to die young. The pine wand is one of those that is most sensitive to non-verbal magic."

" Polar bears are native to the Arctic region and are one of the largest species of bears. When hungry, a real polar bear can be unpredictable and vicious. They’ve even been known to eat humans in circumstances like these. A polar bear Patronus, however, would direct that ferocity at a Dementor and send it packing out of fear of getting a chunk bitten out of its creepy behind."
Patronus Memory: Seeing the ocean for the first time, playing with her sister, when she became friends with Chiara.
Mirror of Erised: She would see herself, at age 11, graduating Hogwarts. Then later sees herself and Chiara, both wearing white dresses.

Protego: she uses this spell when she helps Chiara on the night of the full moon.
Expecto Patronum: Learned this spell out of curiosity to find out her animal or if she could even cast one.
Expelliarmus: Loves using this spell the most to not hurt others.

Love Interest: Chiara Lobosca
They met in 1st year during the investigation of the werewolf on campus. They didn't become friends right away due to Chiara's wanting to keep her distance from anyone.
After a lot of convincing and help from Artemis, they officially became friends the following year.
It took until 6th year for Artemis to finally confess her feelings to Chiara. Though, Chiara rejected her, for fear of hurting Artemis, even though she does indeed love her.
Artemis has backed off, but still remaining friends until graduation. When she asked Chiara to live with her, for her protection. Chiara accepted her offer.
It took two years of living together for Chiara to finally open up her heart, much to Artemis' surprise. It happened one night, when Artemis took her to the nearby forest for the full moon. After the sun had risen, the muggle villagers, who had finally caught on to the werewolf living in their midst, prepared a gun with silver bullets which they fired at Chiara, now back in human form. Artemis had thrown herself in front of Chiara. They apparated out of the village, where Chiara healed her up, apologizing profusely. To which Artemis just looked at her with a smile, happy to see that Chiara was unharmed.
The two of them fought in the battle of Hogwarts.
After the incident in the muggle village, they moved to a cottage far away from anyone on a cliff facing the sea.

Background/History
Artemis grew up in the port town of Dingle. She loved going down to the beach to watch the waves crashing against the shore. Her sister was always off doing something, so Artemis was often left alone.
She was very fascinated by the muggles in her neighborhood and always asked to borrow their things.
She conjured up the scalding water spell on her own one day, when a suspicious man tried taking her with him.
She was a precocious child, always asking questions beyond her age.
She learned Legilimens and Occlumens as a toddler due to the much hate the wizarding community had towards her mother for not only being a squib, but from a foriegn country. She would often get into the minds of people she thought were harmful or mean to make sure they stayed away from her mother.
At Hogwarts, she became fast friends with Barnaby and Penny during potions class in their first year. She made friends with Chiara in their second year as well as Liz. Then made friends with Charlie during their care of magical creatures class.
She hates causing trouble and tries her best to avoid Tulip, Jae, and Tonks. Though, occasionally she'll talk with Tonks.
Personality
Introverted: She just prefers to be by herself, with others like her or extroverts who respect her quiet nature. She'd much rather snuggle with a book all day than talk, unless she felt comfortable around that person.
She loves swimming and anything nature related. Or just staring up at the night sky.
Misc
Has Gaelic ancestry and Aztec Ancestry
Her father and mother teach her and her sister of both Gaelic and Aztec culture.
She speaks Spanish, Nahuatl, English, and Gaelic.
On her mother's side run seeresses and on her father's side run animagus.
Her love of muggles lead to her taking up a postion in the ministry in that department. Though, she finds out quickly that it is one-sided. She tries her best to see the good in muggles and wants them to coexist with witches and wizards in a friendly manner.
She ends up separating herself from her parents when they discouraged her from getting involved with Chiara. (Since graduation).
Her theme music is: Boyish by Japanese Breakfast and Tú by Maye

Which witch show is which?
Tumblr media
The arrival of a new trio of Charmed ones and a certain enchanting teen proves that witchy offerings on the big and small screen are no longer relegated to Halloween, or even the month of October. And it’s not hard to see why tales about powerful women fighting persecution through magic resonate so much right now. But with five witch-centered series currently airing or streaming —including the OpenTV web series Brujos and an upcoming Chicago-based show titled Brujas—The A.V. Club decided it was time to take a closer look. Here, we help our readers determine who at least glanced at the Book Of Shadows before conjuring up a story.
The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina (Netflix)
Which witch is this? Honestly, the Satanic Temple had a point when they said CAOS gave Satanists a bad name. Although the Spellman family and their fellow witches and warlocks worship the goat-headed god Baphomet—first conceived by French artist and occultist Éliphas Lévi in 1856, and frequently used as the symbolic incarnation of Satan—the Satanic Church of the Night’s brand of magic has very little in common with the actual Left-Hand Path, as practitioners of so-called “black magic” prefer to call their belief systems. Neither of the major Satanic groups, The Church of Satan and The Satanic Temple, believe in Satan as a literal deity, for one. (There are a few theistic Satanists out there who do believe in an actual devil, but not in great enough numbers to be statistically significant.) And even if they did, they don’t believe in forcing anyone, let alone minors, to join up. They’re all about free will.
The show’s frequent name-checking of ingredients, tools, and deities frequently utilized in real spellcraft, as well as its use of concepts like astral projection and familiars as plot devices, are similarly loose—some might even say nonsensical, from a magical point of view—in their interpretations. If anything, the coven’s ritual cannibalism and practice of signing their names in the Devil’s book are more akin to the rhetoric of witch hunters in early modern Europe, who fed the public salacious (and baseless) tales of midnight orgies and shapeshifting witches in order to justify burning rebellious women at the stake. Of course, there’s not a lot of dramatic tension in an organization whose first guiding principle is “one should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason,” so it makes sense that the writers of CAOS would take some liberties when designing the show’s fictional witches. But if you’re a fan of the show and meet a real-life Satanist, don’t worry—the most dangerous thing about them is likely to be a libertarian streak. [Katie Rife]
Charmed (The CW)
Which witch is this? There are three in Jennie Snyder Urman’s Charmed reboot: sisters Macy (Madeleine Mantock), Mel (Melonie Diaz), and Maggie (Sarah Jeffery), who discover they’re witches after their mom dies. Their magical abilities have been slightly tweaked; what was once Phoebe’s (original cast member Alyssa Milano) premonition is now Maggie’s telepathy. They’re still strongest when they’re working together, so the Power Of Three remains intact (aww).
But where, exactly, do those powers come from? Well, in its original iteration, Charmed was informed by general Wiccan tenets, e.g., spell-casting, potions, the use of familiars, etc. The Halliwell sisters—played by Milano, Shannen Doherty, and Holly Marie Combs—even had a Book Of Shadows, a similar copy of which was bequeathed to 2018’s Charmed ones. For the most part, the reboot has followed the same path, despite having a male witch in their writers room and the fact that the main characters (if not all of the cast) are Latinx. Season one hasn’t explored brujería much at all, even though there’s a long and rich history of it in Latin America. But the fourth episode, “Exorcise Your Demons,” introduced a bit of Santería, a syncretic Afro-Caribbean religion that draws from Catholicism and Yoruba beliefs, to the world of the Vaughn-Vera siblings. (The incantation was even in Spanish.) But Charmed is still leaving a whole lot of culture untapped while cobbling together a fairly generic form of witchcraft. We mean, if Starz’s Vida can feature a limpia de huevo, Charmed could have a barrida or two. Okay, so maybe that’s more curanderismo than anything, but the fact that we’ve already cited several Latin American-originating practices here proves there’s a lot more where that season-one spell came from. (Incidentally, Vida creator Tanya Saracho is developing a series about Afro-Latinx witches called Brujas). [Danette Chavez]
A Discovery Of Witches (Sundance Now/AMC Shudder)
Which witch is this? The source material for A Discovery Of Witches is Deborah Harkness’ historical-fantasy novel of the same name, which was in turn inspired by Harkness’ work as a historian and her decades-long private research into magic and the occult. The spell-casters on this Sundance Now series are a special brew—they’re informed as much by Harkness’ studies of “the transition from the superstitious Middle Ages to the rational, science-loving Enlightenment” as they are the occult. Dr. Diana Bishop (Teresa Palmer) is a very powerful, very undisciplined witch who’d much rather get tenure at Oxford than join a coven, but soon destiny—and a dreamy vampire played by Matthew Goode—come calling.
Though there aren’t many fun incantations a la Harry Potter, A Discovery Of Witches does touch on alchemy, which once seemed like magic. Much of the story in the first season centers on Ashmole 782, a book that’s more myth than manuscript. As our colleagues at io9 demonstrate, Ashmole 782 doesn’t actually exist, but the works of 17th-century alchemist and astronomer Elias Ashmole do. Harkness really did her homework, drawing inspiration from medieval alchemy, which was full of all kinds of fantastic occurrences and creatures (possibly even including vampires, though probably not ones as hot as Matthew Clairmont). [Danette Chavez]
Legacies (The CW)
Which witch is this? In short, the “just for funsies” kind. In this spinoff of a spinoff of The CW’s long-running supernatural teen series The Vampire Diaries, witchcraft and magic are heritable conditions. That means that you can chant in all the esoteric languages and draw all the arcane symbols you want, but if the blood of ancient magicians doesn’t flow through your veins, you’ll never be able to develop psychokinesis, manipulate time, read minds, or do any of the other cool tricks that the witches on the show can do. That puts Legacies, about a supernatural high school for witches, vampires, and werewolves, closer to Harry Potter or X-Men than any religious form of witchcraft. (The school’s called the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, for goodness’ sake.)
As for what these witches actually believe, vague gestures are made towards a pagan nature religion akin to Wicca: “I was a witch like you … we believe in the natural order of things,” an undead witch tells the biological daughters she’s never met (don’t ask) in one episode. That being said, the actual mechanics of the spells performed on screen are more reminiscent of the alchemical and theological systems of hermetic magic than Wiccan goddess-worship. Not that it really matters in the context of the show, whose characters spend a lot more time discussing who has a crush on whom than the philosophical underpinnings of the duality between “light” and “dark” magic.
Siempre Bruja (Netflix)
Which witch is this? Caracól Television’s Siempre Bruja, which was inspired by Isidora Chacón’s novel, Yo, Bruja, centers on a time-traveling witch named Carmen (Angely Gaviria). When we first meet her, Carmen is a slave in 17th century Cartagena, who’s on trial for being a witch. She’s condemned to death, but as the flames grow around her at the stake, she begins to chant. Suddenly, she washes ashore in Cartagena some 300 years in the future, where she’s in only slightly less danger. Siempre Bruja is part Buffy The Vampire Slayer, part Outlander—there’s plenty of teen drama mixed in with the time jumps.
Though it’s not referred to by name (at least, not in the first half of season one), there are plenty of clues that suggest Carmen and the other witches in the story are followers of Santería, which has a long history in Colombia. She chants in Lucumí, a variation of Yoruba that’s used as the spiritual language of Santería. (In fact, “Lucumí” can also be used as a synonym for the belief system itself.) Carmen also acts as a curandera, using plants to heal wounds in the past and present. She’s also able to communicate with ghosts, and spiritism is a huge part of Santería.

Kailec the Student
Tumblr media
Kailec is 15, and has lived most of her short life in the area around Riverwood.  She lives with her adoptive mother, the elderly hermit Anise.  She doesn’t remember her birth family, but knows that Anise found her as a young child clinging to a dead altmeri woman.
[Edit: I forgot to write an intro to this post!  This is the story I’m building up around my current Skyrim protaganist.   I’ve had so much fun reading @skyrim-hates-her ‘s writing about her OCs, I decided what the heck, I should start to share this kind of story in case someone else might enjoy it too.
Tumblr media
She gathers alchemy ingredients and delivers potions for Anise, catches fish or rabbit for their meals, and trades the pelts of foxes and wolves to local hunters for venison and salt.  She knows a few novice magics -  how to summon fire to hand, to draw healing magic into herself, and to fill the mind of a lesser creature with fury.  Anise has painted her with a design of protective magic, which marks her to those who know as under a witch’s protection.
Tumblr media
She is playful, active and curious, and often mischievous.  Anise has warned her to wear a hood around townsfolk, and to not steal or do harm to those in Riverwood.  It goes unsaid but understood that other folk are fair game.
Tumblr media
In Riverwood,  she has a bit of a mixed reputation.  She will do small favors for people who ask, but refuses large or dangerous ones.   She is discrete in her deliveries from Anise, often blank-faced.  But otherwise she is expressive, and will stop to talk with townsfolk.  Sometimes she’s ignorant of things they take for granted, and some wonder about Anise’s parenting, if maybe Anise is letting her run too wild.  Others hold her Altmeri heritage against her, and wouldn’t be upset if she disappeared into the wilds and never came back.
Tumblr media
She often visits shopkeeper Lucan Valerius to sell general purpose potions, and place orders from Anise for alchemy ingredients not locally available.  She’s run errands for him a time or two, in exchange for small amounts of coin or useful items.  But when he asked if she’d run down the thieves who stole his gold claw-shaped ornament, she balked.  She’d spotted bandits going up and down that path, and one had even gotten mad and chased her. (She’d thrown a brief bit of fire and then ran for it, right to where she knew Anise was working.  It was a good look on his face when that little old lady conjured eldritch spirits to take him apart.  It served him right.)
Tumblr media
In secret, Anise trains her in the arts of witchcraft.  In this Skyrim, there is no magic tome to teach a spell instantly (thanks to the mod Spell Research.)  The elements of magic can be discovered via alchemy, or from ancient artifacts or books.  It is up to each person to put those elements together in such a way that it forms a new spell, and then to study that spell so as to learn new elements and refine their skills.  Usually.
There’s a story in how she learned her first magics.  A concoction brewed by Anise, as a rite of passage into young womanhood.  She drank it down with pride and uncertainty.  Next there was only pain and flames, brief flashes of her mother’s panicked face,  hands coated in frost.  When she awoke, Anise was there to comfort her.  “I've never seen it take someone so strongly before”, she said, taking Kailec’s hands in her own.  “Your magic potential must be strong.”  “Will it be like this every time?” Kailec asked, weak and sick with dread.  “There are other ways to learn.  Slower, but safer.   Rest for now, and when you are recovered we will discuss it.”  Over Anise’s shoulder, Kailec could see the wooden tub they use for bathing.  There were deep scorch marks on it.  One looked like a handprint, folded over its rim.
She spent months studying the magic she learned that night, coming to peace with that fire that flowed out from her, learning to direct it out and not in.  But there came a time when she had learned what she could from it, and though Anise did not push her on it, she knew she could go no farther without gaining understanding of other elements.
No youngling ever caught torchbugs with such a serious face.  She dissolved their glowing thorax in Anise’s borrowed alembic, and carefully separated the results into their separate vials, paying special attention to the one marked <i>Lumen Profluvium</i>.
Finally, with Anise’s careful supervision, she sipped the liquid.  It tasted like moonlight reflected on wet rocks, or like the brief glimpse of a star on a cloudy night.  When there was no pain, she drank more, and finally tipped it until she had drunk it all. In her mind, there bloomed an understanding of the element of <i>light</i>.
She worked tirelessly through the next day to write down what she had learned, and to connect it to techniques of gathering and releasing magic.  When she held out her hands and tried to shape her spell, a glowing orb shimmered into being and rose to hover over her shoulder.   In the blue-white light of the spell Candlelight, the little cabin seemed stark and unreal, and even her own hands seemed foreign.  She put her arms on their rickety table and rested her head between them, and let go of the wire-tight tension she’d held so long.  She could do this.

Unnamed Urban Fantasy World-Building Bible
Okay, so at this point I’ve got most of the world built and relevant history gone through. As such, HERE COMES AN INFO DUMP. Some of this was in the previous post, but there honestly wasn’t a lot there. This should hopefully whet your appetite for what’s to come.
Keep in mind that this is sort of “first draft” world-building. Things may be tweaked, thrown out, or altered later. (Also, the Blades section under “Lost Swords” formatted all weird, but it’s still legible, so I don’t feel like fixing it)
------------------- Cast of Characters -------------------
Keith Ward – orphaned son of Steven and Carol Smith (nee Krolia Kogane). Grew up in an orphanage with no knowledge of his parents. Immediately after high school, enrolled with the CPD and entered police academy, where he met Takashi “Shiro” Shirogane. Graduated and is a full-time CPD officer; his partner on the force is Iverson. Is still very close with Shiro and looks up to him like a big brother. Human with unknown elf heritage.
Katherine “Pidge” Holt – daughter of Samuel and Colleen Holt (nee Gunderson), younger sister of Matthew. MIT freshman who finds out her father and brother have both gone missing: Sam from his job as a CISA compliance officer at Galaxy IT Services and Matt after having taken a leave of absence from his job as a Computer Forensics Examiner at the CPD to go try to hunt up Sam. They’ve been missing for six months, and Pidge drops out of college to come back home to find them. Human Normie.
Darius “Hunk” Garrett – child of Dwayne and Ellen Garrett (nee Jorden), younger brother of Jasmin, older brother of Aliyah. The Garretts are Masks. Hunk is an alchemist who has a mobile lab based in a food truck. He also serves food, as would be expected. He learned both alchemy and cooking from his father, and he’s very close to his family. He also studies physics (as he believes it helps with his alchemy (and it does)) and is a very handy mechanic, keeping his old food truck up and going when it probably should’ve given up whatever ghost it had years ago (he bought it from a junkyard and fixed it up himself). His older sister is a bank teller but had no interest in alchemy; his younger sister is learning alchemy but wants to be a veterinarian. Human Mask.
Lance McClain – child of Scott and Juanita McClain (nee Garcia). Middle child in a pack of 8 children; Juanita’s widowed mother also lives with them. His two oldest siblings have moved out and one has started his own family (the other’s in college). The McClains are Masks, and Lance grew up with Hunk, as they’re the same age. They’ve been best buddies since grade school. Lance is a musician, and a very talented one, and he’s learned many powerful spellsongs. Spellsinging is considered a form of alchemy, using soundwaves, vibrations, pitch, tone, and rhythm to affect one’s environment instead of the more usual chemical, medicinal, or culinary forms (that Hunk knows). Lance chafes at the Masks’ rules but obeys them. However, he’s started noticing that he’s spellsinging when he doesn’t intend to be. Human Mask.
Takashi “Shiro” Shirogane – child of Kenichi and Yumiko Shirogane (nee Shimizu), older brother of Ryou. Shiro always wanted to be a police officer, to protect and serve. He felt it as a calling. Out of high school, he went to community college to study criminal justice, then enrolled in CPD’s police academy, where he met Keith. He graduated top of his class and became a CPD police officer. His partner is Harris. While at the CPD, he met and befriended Matt Holt. He wonders about Matt’s sudden leave of absence, but assumes his buddy is dealing with family stuff (as he said before he left) and is busy. Human Normie.
Allura ve Alfor, Princess of Altea – daughter of King Alfor and Queen Aetheria of Altea. Allura was trained in diplomacy, leadership, magic, and combat by her parents and her father’s advisor, Coran. She doesn’t know alchemy, but she knows her father’s code that he wrote his notes in. She is an excellent shifter, able to alter her appearance at will, though it takes energy to keep any form that is different from her normal one (how much energy depends upon how different the form is). Fortunately, she has an incredible reservoir of magical energy along with her own life force. Forbidden from joining the battle against the Dark Lord & Lady, she survived and agreed to be sealed away rather than forego her vengeance entirely. She is focused on avenging the death of her father and her people. At the last second, her four pet mice jumped onto her and became frozen in the crystal as well. One of the last true elves alive.
Coran vu Hieron – Royal Advisor to King Alfor before his death. Coran was a loyal advisor and friend and would gladly have gone into battle with Alfor had he not been tasked with protecting Allura. To that end, he also agreed to be sealed away, to stay with and watch over the princess. What he lacks in magic and shifting abilities he makes up for in seemingly endless knowledge. After he acclimates to 2018, he takes the somewhat more human name of Coran Hieronymus Wimbleton Smythe (he may have gone a bit overboard). One of the last true elves alive.
Honerva ve Cree/Haggar – Royal Advisor to King Alfor before she succumbed to darkness. One of the best alchemists of her day, aside from the King himself (who was strong in magic as well as alchemy). While he focused on training the human alchemist Myrddin, she believed that alchemy might not be wholly good. Using the motto of “all light casts a shadow,” she began searching for that shadow, hoping to set boundaries on such power so that it would not be misused. Instead, she went too far over that boundary and wound up corrupted by the Dark Lord Zarkon of the Daibazaal realm. His true form cannot be comprehended by normal mortals, and so she summoned him to this world by letting him take the body of Alfor’s best friend: Aetheria.
Zarkon twisted Aetheria’s body to suit his own needs, making it more powerful and less recognizably humanoid. He took her blade and warped it as well, making it his own dark weapon. And he took Honerva as his bride and high priestess.
Honerva began experimenting on humans and elves, using her knowledge of alchemy and her access to the dark energies of the cosmos to see what could be done to make them more powerful and more useful to Zarkon. She also began summoning the minions of Zarkon to this realm in preparation to conquer it. Alfor and Myrddin went to confront and stop her, with the army of Altea behind them. The battle was fierce. Myrddin, Alfor, and his generals (Blaytz, Trigel, and Gyrgan) fought against Honerva and Zarkon directly. The generals fell one by one as Myrddin shifted from trying to kill their opponents to simply containing them. As Alfor was killed, Myrddin managed to seal Honerva and Zarkon into a magical vault in another realm.
In Myrddin’s records, Honerva is only ever referred to as Haggar or the Dark Lady, just as Zarkon is only ever the Dark Lord. He had known (and loved) Honerva (though she had never returned his affections) before she succumbed to darkness. He could not reconcile the woman he had known with the creature he had fought, and so he gave her a different name.
Haggar desires only to serve her Lord and husband and to increase his power as well as her own. True elf corrupted by ancient dark magic; essentially a Dark Elf.
------------------- People, Places & Things -------------------
Alchemy – the combination of science and magic pioneered by the elves. Alchemy in its strongest form could potentially manipulate reality itself (essentially by fudging the rules or finding loopholes), but most modern alchemy focuses on the interconnections between all living things and the world upon which we live. Alchemy is most commonly thought of as chemical in nature: brewing potions, making salves & ointments, etc. There are myriad medicinal applications. Alchemy can also be used in combat, for self-defense, and in any sort of creation/manipulation endeavor. Cooking, baking, painting, writing, singing, playing an instrument, even assembling a piece of furniture or an engine. A strong understanding of physics can help open up the possibilities of alchemy.
Altea – Kingdom of the elves, destroyed 1,445 years ago. Its last crowned monarch was King Alfor. All alchemy originated in Altea. The kingdom was destroyed in 573 CE by the forces of the Dark Lord Zarkon and his Dark Lady, Honerva/Haggar.
The Church – as in the organization of Christian faith, most especially the Catholic Church. While it is true that the Church saw magic as antithetical to the power of the One True God, it was the destruction of Altea that truly convinced the Church that magic led to darkness. They characterized Zarkon and his armies as the Devil and his demons, and those who continued to do magic or alchemy as being like Haggar. At best, an alchemist would unwittingly bring evil into the world; at worst, they were an active helper in the schemes of the Devil.
As monotheistic faiths - but most especially Christianity - grew, magic became vilified. Even suspected practitioners were exiled or killed. Most of the people who were hanged, burned at the stake, etc. for witchcraft were actually perfectly innocent, normal people. A few were Masks, either because of their use of alchemy or because they were taking the fall for true magical beings, as their oath requires. A vanishingly-rare amount were actual magical beings, and, of these, most were Shifters, not Witches.
Elves – What happens when True Fay interbreed with True Shifters. The elves helped the humans create alchemy, believing that science and magic could enhance each other and lead to a greater understanding of the cosmos. They also wanted to give magic-less humans a way to help themselves. Elves were long-lived, but not so much so as Fay; a typical Elf lifespan would be about five centuries. In 2018, the only Alteans/True Elves left alive are Princess Allura (Alfor’s daughter) and Royal Advisor Coran.
Fay – Sprites, pixies, gnomes, goblins, fair folk, wee folk, etc. The Fairies of legends and myths. Fay are typically mischievous and very scrupulous about their rules. They often delight in deceiving others with these rules, but clever people can find a loophole to turn the outcome to their advantage. Ever since the Rise of the Church, Fay have made themselves scarce in the world. Ironically, despite the Catholic stronghold in Ireland, the Fay are most easily found there, where the native people have seen no problem in worshipping the Christian God and still respecting the rules of the aes sídhe.
Technically the Fay live in their own realm, Faerie, separate from the human world (which makes it all the easier for them to hide away). This realm is not unlike Daibazaal from which Zarkon hails, in that it is a separate realm of reality with its own rules and natural laws. Faerie is a much nicer place than Daibazaal though. Fay are extremely long-lived, with normal lifespans in the millennias.
Galra – Technically the word “Galra” is Altean for “monster.” In 2018, it most commonly refers to the Galra Cult: the cultists who worship Haggar and Zarkon. They are the descendants of elves and humans who followed the Dark Lord and Lady before their defeat (but somehow survived the battle). Most cultists are human, but many have elf blood (even if extremely diluted) in their veins. They know only what’s written down, so they have no idea that Haggar has any name other than that; they are unaware that “Galra” is not really what they should be called (similar to how Neo-Nazis are unaware of the origins of “Nazi” as an insult). But they are fanatically devout. However, some people do leave the Galra; they’re typically hunted down and killed.
Krolia was a member of the cult before she left, changed her name to the more inconspicuous Carol, and married Keith’s father. She was pregnant when the Galra found her and she barely escaped with her life; her husband wasn’t so lucky. She stayed hidden and on the run; when she gave birth to Keith, she took him to a Safe Place zone and left, hoping to spare her son from the bloodthirsty cult. Eventually she found others who had left the Galra; they’ve taken her in. She’s tried to keep track of what happened to her son over the years but is still too afraid to contact him. Just in case.
The Journals – King Alfor had five journals of alchemy, all written in a personal code of Alfor’s own devising. The first is a simple notebook, recording the alchemical knowledge already extant in the world. Volumes 2-5 are Alfor’s, Myrddin’s, and Honerva’s notes and experiments with alchemy, along with anything they could find about what others had concocted. They came up with new ways of constructing experiments, discovered more truths about the world, and became powerful. They established new concoctions and rituals, new potions and spells. The fifth volume specifically details the rules of alchemy as they were known to the three of them and sets out a method for safely and effectively using alchemy to create “on the fly” as it were, rather than just memorizing tried-and-true methods. The Masks have volumes 1 and 3 of Alfor’s journals; the Galra Cult has volumes 2 and 4. Volume 5’s whereabouts are currently unknown to the world at large, and that is because it was hidden in a place that only Allura knows.
The Lost Swords – A legend told in Mask families about five swords hidden from the world by Merlin, who feared their awesome powers would be used for evil. The Lost Swords will only appear when humanity stands upon the brink of destruction.
In reality, these are the five enchanted blades Myrddin made from the swords of Aetheria (Blade of the Black Lion), Alfor (Blade of the Red Lion), Blaytz (Blade of the Blue Lion), Trigel (Blade of the Green Lion), and Gyrgan (Blade of the Yellow Lion).
Blade of the     Black Lion –     originally the sword of Queen Aetheria, corrupted by Zarkon’s dark     energies. It was cleansed of its taint through the focused enchantments of     the other Blades, thus it was technically the last “created.” It is the     most powerful blade and carries a minor, basic sentience. It seems to…     remember its past and struggle with it. Its wielder’s desires can easily     tip the blade back into darkness.     Myrddin tied it to the energies of the sky, of storms, and of the cosmos.     It can call and channel lightning; temporarily blind people; lift its     wielder into the air and enable them to fly short distances; push people     back (or even knock them down) with powerful storm gusts; and allows its     wielder to use magic. Like all the blades, it also protects its wielder     from its own element. It also has the unique ability to temporarily     “borrow” powers from the other blades, so long as that blade’s wielder     focuses on doing so. (For example, for the Black Blade to borrow the Red     Blade’s power, Red’s wielder must stand still and focus their will on     channeling their power to Black. This often leaves them vulnerable.)     When the Red Blade’s power is     focused to the Black Blade, it can send short bursts of super-heated air     towards the target.     When the Green Blade’s power is     focused to the Black Blade, the storm winds can narrow and snap like     whips, able to draw blood from many rapid, powerful (but small) attacks.     When the Blue Blade’s power is     focused to the Black Blade, it creates torrential rain and full on     thunderstorms in a localized area.     When the Yellow Blade’s power     is focused to the Black Blade, the blade becomes unbreakable and its     wielder is granted an impenetrable shield wall (in front of the sword     itself)     When all other Blades’ powers     are focused to the Black Blade, it elongates (though doesn’t become     heavier), strengthens, sharpens, and burns with a magical flame. The Black     Blade can cut through reality itself if its wielder wishes.     Regardless of the Black Blade’s alignment, it will never, ever, ever harm Allura.     Wielded by Shiro
Blade of the Red     Lion –     originally the sword of King Alfor, who sacrificed himself to buy Myrddin     the time he needed to seal Haggar and Zarkon away. Tied to the energies of     fire, of passion, of purity. It can call and channel flames and protect     its wielder from the negative effects of heat and fire, including all     forms of radiation. The blade is always burning hot to the touch to all     except its wielder.     Wielded by Keith
Blade of the     Green Lion –     originally the sword of General Trigel. Tied to the energies of growing     life, of vitality, of logic. It can call and channel strong and/or thorny     vines. The blade is envenomed with a virulent toxin that will lead to     paralysis and, eventually, death; only its wielder is immune to it, as     they are to all poisons. They cannot be harmed by any animal or plant     found in this realm.     Wielded by Pidge
Blade of the     Blue Lion –     originally the sword of General Blaytz. Tied to the energies of water,     ice, and emotion. It can call and channel water and protect its wielder     from severe cold, as well as allowing them to breathe underwater so long     as the blade is drawn and in their hand. The blade is freezing cold to     anyone save the wielder.     Wielded by Lance
Blade of the     Yellow Lion –     originally the sword of General Gyrgan. Tied to the energies of the earth,     of stone, of unity. It can call and channel rock and stone, very useful     for forming walls and shields. It protects its wielder from suffocation or     paralysis, though its blade will petrify anyone (other than its wielder)     who touches it.     Wielded by Hunk
Masks – humans who are aware of magical beings and actively help hide them from those who would destroy them. Technically, Masks are as non-magical as any other human, but they still have access to alchemy. They take their charge of not revealing the existence of magic to normies (other humans) very seriously. Masks were as likely – if not more so – to be killed in witch trials and purges than true magical beings were, though the vast number of those killed in these witch hunts were innocent normies. Masks take an oath to protect the magical elements of the world with their life, but such a sacrifice has not been needed in many centuries. Technically they have typical human lifespans, but alchemy is often as good as and sometimes better than medicine, so it’s not uncommon for Masks to outlive normal humans by a decade or so.
Myrddin – known to most of humanity as “Merlin,” he was the greatest human practitioner of alchemy ever seen. Alfor apprenticed him when Myrddin was still a boy, and the two became fast friends. Myrddin was also smitten with Honerva, but she never returned his affections, and he never spoke of them to her. Still, he counted her as a friend, and she was friendly with him in their interactions.
Together with Alfor and Honerva, Myrddin helped create the bulk of extant alchemy in the world today. He also chronicled his life and the fall of Altea. He went mad after sealing away the Vault, the Blades (Lost Swords), and Allura & Coran. He became known as Myrddin Wyllt (Myrddin the Wild), a madman – some said a prophet – who wandered the land until his death.
Normies – humans who are unaware of magical beings or the existence of magic or alchemy as anything other than historical beliefs of superstitious peasants or the elements of fiction. It is rare that a normie is made aware of the existence of magic, but it happens occasionally. Usually a normie is then tasked with protecting what they have found; if they do not agree to become a Mask, they are typically killed or branded as crazy.
Shifters – those capable of changing their shape. True Shifters can look like anyone and can even take animal forms (thus giving rise to legends such as kitsune and werewolves). They can stay in whatever form they want for as long as they want and still retain their identity and minds (though Shifter hybrids – Elves and Witches – usually don’t have this ability). Shifters do not have animal-like senses unless they are in animal form, and even then they have the same advantages and disadvantages as those animals would have. Of all the magical beings, the Shifters are the ones who most carefully hide their nature from the world, as many of the legends of their kind paint them to be ravening beasts. Given ideal conditions, Shifters can live well into the 300 range, but nowadays it tends to be closer to 210 – 220. (Fast food hasn’t helped.)
The Seals – Magical locked doorways created by Myrddin. The first was a complete accident: Myrddin was trying to find a way to contain Haggar and Zarkon’s power when he saw King Alfor run through by Zarkon’s sword. The shock and horror (plus his already pumping adrenaline) enabled him to create the Vault and lock them away in some other realm. He had no idea how he’d done it.
He used alchemy to enchant, create, and link the five Lion Blades/Lost Swords, and then sealed them away in the same realm (though keeping them inaccessible to the Vault). The seals on the Swords were tied to the seal on the Vault so that when Haggar and Zarkon were released back into the world, the Swords would be, too. However, having no idea how else to create the seals, he re-focused on the trauma of that moment when Alfor was cut down. He replayed the horrible creatures he’d seen, the true power of what lurked in the darkness of the Daibazaal realm, all the friends he had lost. Rather than letting himself heal from his mental and emotional wounds, he continued to gouge them open, one seal at a time (for each Blade).
He used this same technique to enclose Allura and Coran in life-sustaining crystals and then to lock them with the same seal. The crystals will return to the world when the Blades do, but they can only be truly unlocked when in the presence of any one of the Blades. Then both crystals will be unlocked. This was a complicated sealing, and it took the last of Myrddin’s sanity to complete.
Undead – These are creatures created by magic (usually Fay or Witches) rather than being inherently magical beings. Usually they’re what modern Western culture would call “zombies” (in the sense of being unintelligent rotting shamblers; they typically aren’t cannibalistic unless created to be so). Ghosts can occur if someone dies from a Witch’s hex or a Fay’s curse.
Vampires – NO.
The Vault – The prison Haggar and Zarkon were sealed into. That prison was then cast into an alternate dimension (neither Daibazaal nor Faerie). This was the first seal and it was not tied to the others (though the Lost Swords’ seals were tied to the Vault’s). The Galra Cult eventually found a way to dissolve the seal, breaking open the Vault and returning Haggar and Zarkon to the world, about a year before the start of the story.
Witches – True Witches started out as human/Shifter hybrids (just as Elves came from Fay/Shifter unions). They look human except for golden eyes (still human eyes, just golden in color). They have limited ability to shift, and most take utilitarian forms such as a bird of some sort for travel, a fox or wolf for hunting, and a mouse, rat, or snake for spying. Staying in that form for too long will threaten their identities as they become more and more animal-like. Most Witches focus their increased energy reserves (from the Shifter blood) on doing magic. Modern Witches often do alchemy as a useful supplement, but historically it was considered a dilution of magic and no proper Witch would be caught dead doing that sort of thing. Witch magic tends to be very nature-based, and though most try to put more good than bad out into the world, a Witch crossed can be a VERY dangerous thing. A True Witch dying before 100 is almost unheard of; some have made it to 200 but that’s pretty rare. 150’s about a good average.

Foundermeer’s Technology
While similar in most ways to a country in eighteenth century Europe, Foundermeer's lack of contact with the outside world since medieval times and use of alchemy have led it down a technological course that diverges somewhat from our own history. Certain technologies lag behind, with guns in particular being heavy, ornate contraptions seldom wielded in comparison to more accessible weapons. However, the nation's alchemical expertise has led to significant scientific advancements.
Alchemy
Powered by Otherworld herbs and organs harvested from wights, alchemical products exist in a wide array of potions, powders, tinctures, and salves, and have important medical and societal applications. Physicians use alchemy to treat maladies such as bacterial infection with a success rate nearly on par with modern medicine, while Nightguard physickers carry curative elixirs and wight repellants as an extra means of defense against monsters. Alchemical lights line the streets of major cities, particularly Brassbridge, courtesy of inventors who have also used alchemy to create new cosmetics, dyes, preservatives, alloys, and more. Alchemy is a complex art that takes many years to master. The most prestigious alchemists are educated at Espergild University in Brassbridge, but one may also learn the trade on a less advanced level by training at an urban inventor's shop, under a physician or country herbalist, or even studying independently through access to scholarly manuscripts. The most powerful elixirs are wielded by Ginterghast phylacters. You can think of Wightwold's alchemy as being similar to potions in Harry Potter without the more overtly magical results, such as granting luck or transmogrifying a person's appearance. If you're interested in creating an alchemist character, you can read more about alchemy below!
Reagents
Most alchemical substances include at least one Otherworld herb or wight product among their reagents, the sourcing and labelling of which is of the utmost importance, as using the incorrect reagent may have terrible, even fatal consequences. Alchemists are often limited by their access to reagents, for the rarer Otherworldly substances can be expensive and difficult to obtain. Purchasing directly from Ginterghasts is typical of alchemists who don't have access to Espergild University's laboratories, while others may resort to dangerous black market sources. Alchemists living in the country can gather Otherworld herbs growing in the wild - though doing may be risky, as it requires venturing into wight-infested areas.
Professions and Specialties
Here's a list of some common alchemy-related professions on Wightwold. You're free to make up your own roles; in this setting, anything from blacksmithing to experimental paper making could involve alchemy in some form. Like any modern technology, alchemy is most commonly seen in the cities, particularly Brassbridge, with very remote areas regarding it as something akin to witchcraft.
Country herbalist Healers and midwives in rural areas frequently know how to brew a handful of restorative tinctures, often with great skill given their limited resources. They may be viewed with suspicion in remote regions, as they must sometimes trade with passing Ginterghasts in order to replenish their supply of Otherworld herbs. Their knowledge tends to be passed down through generations, recorded in ancient journals filled with herb and potion lore.
Physicker Physicker is a medic rank in the Nightguard with a basic working knowledge of both medical and military alchemy. May have a background as a country healer or physician's apprentice, or in unusual cases as an apothecary, if they enlisted later in life.
Physician Physicians have a much higher level of scholarly alchemical knowledge than both herbalists and physickers, but tend to obtain their curatives from apothecaries rather than brewing them personally, since their time is occupied with visiting and treating patients; after all, potions cannot be used to set bones or stitch wounds. Prestigious physicians may have an Espergild degree, typically if they come from a wealthy background, but most instead study medicine under senior physicians until they're ready to open their own practice.
Apothecary Laboring away night and day, often with little human contact, apothecaries produce the bulk of curatives and other medical potions, unguents, and powders sold to physicians or displayed in their own cramped, dimly lit shops. Many apothecaries are expert, well-trained alchemists with Espergild connections; others are charlatans responsible for outbreaks of dangerous side effects from their fraudulent elixirs. While apothecaries may prescribe remedies for common ailments, they are not trained in hands-on medicine like physicians.
Inventor Inventors have a reputation for being eccentric, even dangerous, their shops filled with strange devices and experimental concoctions that occasionally result in loud explosions and eruptions of colorful fumes across busy streets. Inventors are frequently self-taught, with eclectic educations that merge book learning, experiments, and theoretical discussions with other alchemists at local taverns where normal patrons give their soot-covered, potion-splattered figures a wide berth. Inventors are typically not involved in medical alchemy, to the relief of all.
Espergild alchemist At the highest level, Espergild-educated alchemists may have residences at the university, where they either teach as professors, work as researchers and scholars seeking alchemical discoveries, or some combination of both. They are divided by discipline. Medical alchemists, with an extensive background in anatomy and dissection, focus on alchemy that affects the human body and health. They usually work as apothecaries after graduating, while working toward an Espergild position. Meanwhile, alchemists who specialize in natural philosophy like to joke that they aren't so different from inventors: only that when they make things explode, Espergild pays the bill.
In order to qualify for an Espergild position, an alchemist must have a full education and proven accolades as a scholar. Keep in mind that Espergild alchemists benefit from near-unlimited access to Otherworldly reagents, but their activities are consequently bound by the university's expectations regarding how they will use them.
Terminology
Effulgents: light-producing substances, used to illuminate urban streets and wealthy homes. Usually take the form of liquids contained in glass vessels, but alchemists are always experimenting with newer and more powerful effulgents, particularly if one can be discovered that is both practical to use and powerful enough to repel wights after dark. The phylacter elixir illuminant is a weaponized effulgent.
Latrochemical gnosis: The treatment of individuals whose true gender does not match the one they were assigned at birth. Alchemists, who tend to be more open-minded than the average citizen, may brew and discreetly dispense potions with effects similar to modern day hormone replacement therapy.
Natural philosophy: An old-fashioned term for the study of nature and the universe. We often use this as an alternative term for science; "natural philosopher" being likewise equivalent to "scientist."
Reagents: Ingredients used in alchemical substances.

Headcanon – Draco/Alchemy/ Elemental Magic
Note: Some of this headcanon is was inspired by a conversation with the lovely @holmesdepot, and their amazing headcanon. Credit where credit is due!
Alchemy: General/History
-- Based on this.
Alchemy is a branch of magic and an ancient science concerned with the study of the composition, structure and magical properties of the four basic elements, as well as the transmutation of substances; it is thus intimately connected with Potion-making, chemistry and transformative magic. Alchemy also concerns philosophy -- one interpretation of alchemical literature, which is known to be dominated by mystical and metaphysical speculation, were that the study of Alchemy was symbolic of a spiritual journey, leading the alchemist from ignorance, or base metal, to enlightenment or gold. While Muggles for the most part largely dismiss it as an outdated forerunner of modern chemistry, there are some wizards who actively study and practice it in modern day, and who have held it to be some of the most difficult magic known
Alchemy has been a field of study since antiquity. As the time went on, the lack of common words for chemical concepts and processes, as well as the need for secrecy (presumably to avoid Muggle persecution though it may have also had something to do with cultural feelings towards Alchemy and the growing cultural divide between elemental instinctual magic and more institutionalized conduit based magic) led alchemists to borrow the terms and symbols of biblical and pagan mythology, astrology, and other esoteric fields. This marked a progress in alchemical research, as it allowed the exchange of ideas between alchemists without outside meddling. However, this also ended up making the plainest chemical recipe read like an abstruse magic incantation, probably confusing the learning and spreading of alchemy as a science.
The best known goals of the alchemists were the transformation of common metals into Gold or Silver, the creation of a Panacea (a remedy that would cure all diseases and prolong life indefinitely), and the discovery of a universal solvent. Two of the three primary alchemical goals were achieved by the famed French alchemist Nicolas Flamel sometime in or after the 14th century, with his creation of the Philosopher's Stone and, by extension, the Elixir of Life. Flamel went on to live to the 1990s and to six centuries old, til the destruction of the Stone.
Alchemy: The Elements (Basic)
 -- Based on this:
What we know --
EARTH: In alchemy, earth was believed to be primarily dry, and secondarily cold, (as per Aristotle). Beyond those classical attributes, the chemical substance salt, was associated with earth. Earth can represent physical movements and sensations, and it’s associated with the colors green and brown, and the humor black bile. Earth is associated with matter, foundation, manifestation, money, incorporating, employment, touch, empathy, understanding, fertility, security, safety, home, prosperity, and business. Represents stability and physical endurance.
AIR: Aristotle stated that air represented heat and wetness (the wetness is from water vapor, which was thought to be part of air). The air symbol in alchemy can also represent a life-giving force, and it is associated with the colors white and blue. Hippocrates associated air with blood. Air is associated with thought, creativity, knowledge, mental activity, study, speech, intellect, ideas, communication, hearing, travel, messages, eloquence, freedom, discovery, revealing hidden things, and secrets. Represents intelligence and the arts.
FIRE: In alchemy, fire represents emotions such as passion, love, anger, and hate, which are sometimes referred to as “fiery” emotions. Aristotle labeled it as hot and dry, and it is represented by the colors red and orange, as well as the humor yellow bile. Fire is associated with energy, spirituality, passions, light, vitality, health, goals, desires, destiny, sexuality, purification, and sight. Represents courage and daring.
WATER: Aristotle labeled water as cold and wet, and Hippocrates connected it to the body humor phlegm. Additionally, it’s associated with intuition as well as the color blue, and is often linked to the alchemy symbol of mercury (as both are seen as feminine symbols). The Greek philosopher Thales believed water was the first substance created in the world. Water is associated with feelings, happiness, pleasure, love, children, friendship, marriage, family, ancestors, veils, home, taste, dreams, sleep, divination, purification, cleansings, healing, psychic and intuition, and the sub-conscious. Represents emotions and intuition.
(I’ll go into more detail on specific metals, etc later)
Alchemy: Hogwarts
-- Based on this:
What were know --
The sixth-year Potions curriculum at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry covers alchemy and, as such, Libatius Borage's Advanced Potion-Making includes a brief historical and scientific overview of alchemy. According to Horace Slughorn, the preparation of an antidote for a blended poison following Golpalott's Third Law incurs in an almost alchemical process. However, Alchemy itself is an elective subject offered at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and only when there is sufficient demand from sixth and seventh-year students only.
What this could mean --
Ministry regulations on Alchemy and the study of elemental magic due to the unpredictability of it have made learning Alchemy in depth is highly discouraged. As such even when there is an acceptable amount of students who wish to take the course it does not go forward. There are fears of individuals who are able to harness the elements in magic, specifically the element associated with their magical core. It is powerful but unstable in most peoples hands -- and alchemy is a stepping stone toward the understanding of that.
Alchemy: Draco’s research
Draco isn’t interested in eternal life, or a cure for all illness. He’s interested in harnessing the properties of the here and now -- making the most of the time given to him, and the transformative potential of life itself. That's why he's so intrigued by Felix Felicis. While commonly understood to be a luck potion that’s not exactly what it is. It’s a complex potion that aligns the users magical core with the elements and their properties in perfect harmony. People have described being on Felix Felicis as just knowing -- everything goes right. This is because it heightens the users instincts, and their magic pushes them to trust themselves, guides them in the right direction. The potion is little more than an add blocker for the wizards brain -- it removes doubt and creates a direct line from the users magical core to the universe around them.
Most wizards in the modern day have trouble tapping into this part of themselves due to an over reliance on wands, incantations, potions, etc, as well as being told that there is a right way and a wrong way to do magic. But Felix Felicis removes the barrier that’s been built by cultural reliance on things like wands and the idea of proper magic.
Through his research Draco learns of old magic -- magic based on elements and wordless/wandless casting from a time when wizards and witches instinctually knew how to cast and harness the energies around them. Their magic was directly related to their physical and emotional states as well as the stars (birth charts) they were born under. However, this often made magic unstable and unpredictable to those who did not understand or were not powerful enough to user their own magic safely. As such under the guise of creating proper magic -- wands and other tools were slowly normalized while the old ways died out or were removed.
Alchemy came about in the UK during the cultural shift from this more instinctual wandless magic to the strict conduit and incantation based magic of modern wizarding Europe. Alchemy was a way for those who remembered a time when magic was more element based and instinctual to try and make sense of the properties within their magic -- Why does lead interact the way it does with the human spleen? Why is my magic more powerful if I cast while holding tin on a Thursday, but my sisters isn’t? etc. If they could make sense of it, if the could quantitate it then they could harness the elements to do their bidding and justify further research into the link between the elements, the stars, etc, and magic. In modern times however, many witches and wizards find this field of study obsolete or foolish -- much like the way they view divination.
Birth charts, Alchemy, and Old magic: Draco
A wizards or witches birth chart dictates the elements their magic relates to so for example a wizard born under a fire star sign (Seamus such an Aries Finnegan) would find spells using fire, heat, etc easier to use and more powerful than a witch or wizard who was born under a water sign. The witch or wizards dominate star sign also can narrow down the type of accidental magic they may perform as children.
Back to Draco as an example (I’ll post Draco’s birth chart later) Draco’s dominate element is Earth with 37.04% of his birth chart falling under a planet associated with the element of Earth. (It’s important and interesting to note Water (29.63%) and Air (29.63%) are very close while Fire is almost nonexistent (3.7%) And the fact he almost died in a fiendfyre becomes very understandable). As such much of Draco’s accidental magic as a child would be Earth based, such as small manifestations and summonings (a toy he wanted suddenly appearing, or flowers blooming all over his room), or small circles of protection surrounding him when he felt uncertain or afraid.
This also means that things associated with Earth are things that can help him cast stronger and more intuitive spells. That is if he’s able to connect with the elemental core of his magic, and over come the societal and cultural norm of using a conduit. Things associated with Earth are also things he’d find easier to use, and would be more potent in potions and alchemic transmutation for him. For example potions using salt (Associated with Earth) brewed by Draco would be more potent than if they were brewed by someone whose dominate element was fire.
However, due to the close nature of the elements in his brith chart, its safe to say that most magic concerning earth, water, and air Draco would be rather good at instinctually, but wouldn’t be as strong as someone who had a single dominate element. Percentages matter.

For your greek!mythology au for supergirl do you think Alex would be daughter of Athena or Ares? Who would the other characters parents be? Winn would probably be the son of Hephaestus right? J'onn would be like the son of Hecate. What are some of your headcanons?
Okay so FIRST OF ALL!!!! That is mean. I’ve been racking my brain trying to decide which is a better fit for Alex, and you just forced me to do research (I love it, thank you).
Here we go. (Kara and Lena here)
Alex:
Whilst in a first look, Ares would be a good fit for Alex, I think that’s mostly an act. I think all that aggressiveness of hers is mostly an act that she puts on so she won’t get hurt, because if you see her with Kara and Maggie, she’s the softest softy. Also, in the books it is said that daughters of Ares are massively built ‘Ares’ daughters, in particular, have the physical bodies, skeletal structure, and muscle distribution of exceptionally large, strong, and well-conditioned human men.’ and Alex is tall but rather tiny in structure (Chyler is very skinny, I’m afraid she’s going to break like half the time I see her)
Most of the cool stuff Ares gets Athena also has. Athena is, after all, the female counterpart of Ares.
Athena’s children’s abilities include:
Enhanced strength and swiftness.
Able to adapt to using various types of weapons quicker than normal.
Never forget what they heard.
Immense expertise in war strategy.
Great control over any weapon.
Highly skilled in armed and hand-to-hand combat.
Possess high intelligence and wisdom.
Again, Athena is the goddess of:  courage, inspiration, law and justice, strategic warfare, mathematics, strength, strategy, etc.
Alex is very brave, Alex is just, Alex is a fighter and a genius, she admittedly loves the sciences, she’s very good at using various different weapons (we’ve seen so many) she’s great at hand-to-hand, she’s a good strategist, she’s in a really good rank at the DEO so that proves that she is very intelligent even if we hadn’t seen other proof.
So Alex would be a Daughter of Athena.
Winn:
Winn is also a constant struggle for me because I can see the Athena qualities in him, but let’s analyze Hephaestus.
Hephaestus was the god of fire, metalworking, stone masonry, forges and the art of sculpture. He was a kind and peace-loving god. And he made a few of the other gods’ weapons as well as armors for demigods, he also made jewelry and many other crafty stuff. Was the patron of the arts.
on the books, he is also the god of technology, craftsmen, and blacksmiths.
Hephaestus children’s abilities are:
They are expert builders.
They are mechanics.
Technokinesis: As children of Hephaestus, they can control and manipulate machines.
Can sense machines, mechanics, or metal.
Can identify machinery type and use by touch.
Can sense faults in metal ore.
Can find and sense traps in the ground.
These all fit for Winn the techy guy who likes toys and computers and other machinery and is really good at making stuff, including suits, armors, traps, gadgets and so on. Like, just everything Guardian is enough to prove this, and that is only a fraction of what we’ve seen him do. Winn is a genius with mechanics, great builder, and good at fixing stuff. He is also comical and stubborn and kind and not very into fighting, which are all traits of Hephaestus.
But he is much more than simply mechanical minded, he is a genius in other fields of expertises, admittedly good with math and sciences and languages and being a super nerd.
So Winn would be a Son of Hephaestus but I’ll go as far as saying he’d have the grace of Athena as well.
J’onn:
I’ve never thought of J’onn as being on the same level as the rest of the characters. He is Spacedad. He has his own category.
I like the idea of J’onn being a full on immortal who directs the camp and loves all the campers as his own children. However, he coul be a demigod who gained immortality from the gods.
In that case, I don’t really think Hecate would fit him because she’s the goddess of magic, sorcery, witchcraft, crossroads, trivial knowledge, and necromancy. Those aren’t things I associate J’onn with.
I feel like Hypnos would fit him better. Although he is the God of sleep, here are some abilities of his children:
They are capable of memory retrieval.
They are capable of memory alteration.
They can induce sleep.
They can use hypnosis.
They can astral project/dream travel. (when asleep)
They can manipulate dreams.
J’onn is a telepath, on the show he can both retrieve, read and alter people’s memories, hypnosis is also a thing for a lot of telepaths and astral projection would be something I wouldn’t cross out of his powers just yet, it’s definitelly something I think he could do. He is also very calm and knowledgeable and insightful, and the son of Hypnos we see in the books, Clovis, is like that.
So J’onn would be an immortal Son of Hypnos and the director of activities of the camp.
Other characters,
James:
James is a little tricky one. But I think he could be a Son of Apollo like Kara.
Not only is he ridiculously good looking and athletic, but he is also very artistic, he is a skilled fighter, could be a good archer if they just gave him a bow on the show. He is a photographer, and Photography is all about light and Apollo is the god of light. Children of Apollo are skilled in physical contests and games, James is shown to be good at anything physical he likes games. Children of Apollo are natural healers and James really cares about helping people so I think that is something James would like to have do great use of.
And I’m sorry but that is literally the only God I could think for James.
So James would be a Son of Apollo.
Maggie:
For some reason, I think she’d be a daughter of Demeter, the Goddess of agriculture. I don’t have a good excuse for that, just that there are a few jokes of her being vegan and Demeter children can control plants. It’s silly, sorry.
But for real, Maggie could be a Daughter of Nike, who is the goddess of strenght and victory. I particularly like Nike.
Nike’s children’s abilities include:
They are extremely competitive.
They live for contests and never settle for second best.
They can be pretty intense and driven but they are hard workers and tough opponents.
They never turn down a challenge.
I think that fits Maggie. She is always making bets and challenging people at pool, doesn’t seem like the type to turn down a challenge or settle for second best. She’s tiny and she had that air that she’s ready to fight and challenge everyone all the time. She seems very competitive from what we’ve seen, and hard worker.
So Maggie would be a Daughter of Nike.
Vasquez:
I love her, we need more Vasquez.
Vasquez is a Daughter of Nemesis, goddess of balance, justice, and vengeance.
Children of Nemesis:
Believe that people who are full of themselves should be brought down.
Never forget an insult.
Make good allies.
For me it fits Vasquez, she’s a great ally for the Danvers’ sisters, she looks like she’d fight people for calling her the wrong name, and she cared about justice and fucking up the patriarchy. lol
Lucy:
Lucy is really smart, but she would definitely not be a Daughter of Athena. I think Lucy would be a Daughter of Aphrodite. She’s very poised, she always looks good, canonly smells great and seems to have a lot of social skills and awareness.
Cat:
My love. Cat is brilliant, Cat is elegant, Cat is witty, Cat dominant (ha, yes I rhymed). She’s really good with her words, she knows how to hold herself, she knows how to control people and boss them, she constantly insults people for their appearance and sometimes lack of wit/a brain, she always looks perfect beyond comparison, she’s sophisticated, she’s attractive, she is hinted to be strong on seduction, very influential, high social abilities and awareness.
Cat Grant is a Daughter of Aphrodite!
Like, there’s hardly room for debate on this. But she definitelly would have the grace of Athena.
And I can’t think of any other character of Supergirl, but I’m taking the liberty to add my favorite Flash characters here as well because why not, though I won’t go much into them because this is already huge, but they’re pretty much obvious
except for Barry and Wally, so here:
Hermes is the god of roads, speed, messengers, commerce, travel, thieves, merchants, athletes and mail deliverers (cuz that’s not random). Hermes was known to be quick and cunning and had the ability to freely move between the mortal and divine worlds. He is also the patron and protector of travelers, herdsmen, thieves, orators and wit, literature and poets, athletics and sports, invention and trade. In some myths Hermes is also depicted as a trickster where he would outwit the gods either for the good of humankind or for his own personal amusement and satisfaction.
Children of Hermes:
Are skilled at theft and trickery.
Have a high athletic ability.
Are persuasive.
Some or all of Hermes’s children have the ability to pick most locks with their minds.
Can sense any physical traps.
Are good at alchemy and making potions.
Are good with money.
Barry is a forensic Forensic scientist which means he is good with alchemy, he is a speedster and a good leader. He can ‘freely move between worlds’ and he is also good with inventions.
Wally likes the roads, like literally, he was into car racing, he loves speed, I’m pretty sure he is skilled at theft and lockpicking, he seems to be really into sports, he is witty and fun, totally into playing tricks on people.
So we have:
Kara Danvers, Daughter of Apollo
With the grace of Zeus, aka she can fly
Alex Danvers, Daughter of Athena
J’onn J’onzz, immortal son of Hypnos and camp activity director
Winn Schott, jr, Son of Hephaestus
With the grace of Athena
Lena Luthor, Daughter of Athena
With the grace of Aphrodite
Cat Grant, Daughter of Aphrodite
With the grace of Athena
Lucy Lane, Daughter of Aphrodite
James Olsen, Son of Apollo
Susan Vasquez, Daughter of Nemesis
Maggie Sawyer, Daughter of Nike
Barry Allen, Son of Hermes
Iris West, Daughter Aphrodite
Wally West, Son of Hermes
Caitlyn Snow, Daughter of Athena
Cisco Ramon, Son of Hephaestus
As for Headcanons:
Athena is the only deity to claim their children at birth, but Lena was ‘adopted’ by the Luthors and Lionel died when she was young, Lillian decided to never tell Lena about her real mother. And so Lena remained oblivious to her demigod nature and parentage until she went to camp at the age of fourteen
Lena is immediately claimed by Aphrodite when she arrives at camp and it takes a few years before she finds out she’s actually a daughter of Athena, so she’s the only demigod(ess) to be claimed by more than one God and because of that, some people don’t like her.
most people feel abandoned by their godly parent so they don’t like her having too much attention from the goddesses
Children of Aphrodite don’t like her because she’s too smart and cares more about studying than caring about her looks
Children of Athena don’t like her because they think she’s too vain, but they eventually come around when she proves herself as a true daughter of Athena
When she still believed to be a daughter of Aphrodite and lived in cabin 10, she would mostly spend time with children of Athena studying and stuff
It is said on the books that Hephaestus has a crush on Athena, and also he is married to Aphrodite, so Winn totally has a huge crush on Lena, for both her claims and they are total besties. Lena is constantly sneaking into the forgery to work with Winn on their crazy inventions
Winn doesn’t have Pyrokinesis, but he has bunker 9 and managed to open it one time when his gadget exploded in his hand while he tried to fix it.
Literally everyone in the camp is in love with Kara
Everyone but the children of Aphrodite and Athena have the hugest crush on Lena because she’s just ridiculously hot
Single mother Eliza Danvers raising her two demigod daughters, Alex and Kara, by herself and taking in Winn when he is not on camp
Winn actually being led to the Danvers, by J’onn, when his mother died before any of them went/were sent to camp
Eliza is just so freaking smart that Athena took a liking of her so much so that Alex is one of the only Daughters of Athena with a human mother
Alex, Kara and Winn all arrived at camp together after some crazy spider attacks on the girls’ bedroom made Eliza decide to send them off for the summers. Kara was six, making her the youngest person to arrive at camp, Winn was seven and Alex was eight
James was the one who showed them around when they arrived and decided to take Kara and Winn under his protection because they were both so tiny. Alex was initially jealous of him because ‘they’re my siblings’, but came around when she saw how well he took care of Kara
Kara cried the first few nights at camp because she had never been away from Alex and Eliza before, but James made sure to calm her and tell her she was safe and she’d be able to spend time with Alex the next day
Kara cried when James said she had to throw part of her food in the fire for the gods
James arrived at camp with a satyr at the age of nine, he was eleven when Kara, Alex and Winn arrived
Cat was fourteen when Kara arrived, Kara all but imprinted on her and decided to follow the ‘pretty girl’ around. Cat pretended to be annoyed but she adored Kara
Cat was the counselor of Aphrodite’s cabin and passed it down to Iris
Lucy and Cat are a little bit of nemeses
As an Aphrodite tradition, Lucy was told to break James’ heart but refused and they maintain a strong lasting relationship
Alex fights everyone who dares look at Kara, she once broke a boy’s nose because he tried to kiss Kara and a boy’s arm because he checked Kara out with too much avidity… they may of may not be the same person named Mike.
The moment she set her eyes on Kara, Lena was in love
Kara and Lena became really fast friends, but neither Alex nor James were very fond of the situation. Cat and Lucy were their number one shippers
Kara and Lena danced around each other for two years before Lena kissed Kara on the last day of summer, they started officially dating the winter after that when Lena spent the holidays with the Danvers instead of going home
Even before they started dating Kara would fight anyone who tried to say anything bad about Lena. She spent three entire weeks without talking to James because he called Lena untrustworthy and wouldn’t let her be in their team for capture flag and two days without talking to Alex because she called Lena vain. Has physically fought people for things they said about Lena. Broke a guy’s arm and nose because he touched Lena’s butt and tried to kiss her, Alex had never been more proud
Alex only started liking/accepting Lena when it was revealed that she was actually a Daughter of Athena
Vasquez is always Alex’s second at capture the flag and Kara is often jealous
Maggie went to camp at the age of twelve after her parents kicked her out
Alex and Maggie started dating without even knowing. Everyone just thought they were dating and when they found out they didn’t care to correct people and decided to start dating anyways
Winn is the nerdy and annoying little brother of the group. Everyone calls Winn ‘Danvers’ and he loves it, Alex and Kara never corrected this, and have many times encouraged and used the name for him
Winn likes to tease Alex about Maggie and run to hide behind Kara before Alex can hit him
Alex and Maggie take turns scaring Winn, James and Kara are his protectors
Alex and Maggie always compete against each other, they are never on the same team for anything, they like trash-talking the other with the silliest lines. Alex calls Maggie Adidas to get her riled up, Maggie teases Alex about not having a bellybutton and calls her ‘brainy’
James and Maggie stay at camp all year around. Kara, Winn and Alex stay on school breaks (all of them). Lucy only stays on summers. Lena goes to boarding school when she’s not on camp. Cat refused to stop going to camp even after she started college, she goes back every summer. No one knows anything about Vasquez’s life, there is no pattern of when she stays on camp, she disappears for long periods of time only to show up again as if she never left.
Eliza takes in any and every demigod that shows up at her door, her children often bring home friends to spend the last week or so of summer
And I will stop now because this is too long and has taken up too much time, I’ve been writing this for at least six hours why am I like this? I got a little bit carried away, can you tell?
