How do ya capture the "voice" of homestuck characters so well? Besides studying the comic, is there any other media you consume to really get in their head?
First off: Thanks, i’m happy you enjoy my stuff! Secondly… there ARE a few steps i take to the madness.
I basically come from a Dungeon master/Open-world roleplay management background, so when approaching HS cast voices and trying to understand a character to write a story for them i usually take into account 1.INSPIRATIONS, 2.INTERESTS & due to homestuck’s nature, 3.INTERPRETATIONS (As opposed to “player intent”- Hussie’s work is an amalgam of himself and the public input.)
Rereading their logs/sections always helps when you’re trying to figure out their language, pacing, and a bit of their temperament, but getting too lost on mimicking their messages as-is without looking into the character itself may risk leaving them ringing hollow or repetitive (specially for the section of the public that may be more familiar with this character than you are. This is something that may matter to you or not, if you WANT this work to appeal to a specific public or are just messing around.) Because it may just come down to mindless quirk indulgence. In my experience, readers are more forgiving & enthralled by creators who, while not following the specifics of a character’s quirk to a T maintain a sense of internal logic that is congruent with what is shown throughout their appearances. Some AU’s specifically remix, remove or substitute these aspects, and the reason why people usually don’t complain about it is that “it makes sense- given (x) and (x) context.” Like kidswap aus, etc.
Another thing about Quirks is that they can very easily be broken. Having a grasp of how quirk rules affect a character based on their emotional state and how it changes over time is more valuable than internalizing a hard set of rules that never changes. (Ex: Sollux’ quirk evolves over time. So does Aradia’s, as she changes bodies. June’s quirk takes on Vriska-like qualities after they begin chatting, Vriska uses 8’s and exclamation points more liberally and/or nonsensically when she’s angry/distressed/desperate, Jake’s transatlantic slang and embellishment of speech is mostly at the backseat unless he’s pretending/anxious/overwhelmed, otherwise he’s pretty simple.) Knowing how to break a quirk is just as good as knowing how to write it - traditional prose in fics *may not use quirks at all*, but they’re so good at grasping the particular intonation a character uses when stringing words together at a given situation that you don’t mind that at all. It’s a smooth adaptation.
[GREAT RESOURCE: this google drive has a compilation of all logs between characters in Homestuck separated by participants but usually only lists them on one-on-one basis, so you may wanna look at groupchats in the original comic. I think the epilogues section may be still unfinished. I forget who originally posted it on twitter but i know they have a dedicated tumblr, i’ll edit this if someone can name their blog]
“INSPIRATIONS” are usually how i define character personalities by their distinct mix of archetypes. This is the “PROTAGONIST”, “GOTH GIRL”, “SILLY GIRL”, “COOL GUY”, “WEIRDO”, “GAMER GIRL”, “CODING WANNABE” and other such little buzzwords that HS will throw around in reference to each of its characters, and that usually, but not always, function as a setup to subvert the expectations based on that character come a certain point in the story. Where does the character you’re trying to write fall into, when you try to describe them in these terms? Does their story humour this definition, reject it, destroy it, or evolve it? Does this seem like a genuine fact about them, or a facade? Why do you think that is? (Asking questions is my preferred way of pulling apart and understanding a character, this may work differently for you.)
“INTERESTS” is where i look into for that chunky, fatty, well-grilled meat that goes in the middle of a character’s text. Homestuck characters are defined by what they like, what they aspire to be, and what they fail at becoming(& how that shapes their actions going forwards). Interacting with the media they like may not always be the way, but having a general idea of how it functions and what it means to them is usually very helpful. I was already familiar with a lot of things my favorite characters enjoy, and thus it was easier for me to get attached to them. I also had to watch a lot of shitty movies sometimes. You win some, you lose some.
EX: It’s easier to write Dave’s pov if you have a good grasp of the pop culture & economics he so often references. (What he likes) It’s easier to write Rose’s pov when you’ve searched a bit of armchair psychology wikipedia definitions and familiarized yourself with the genre and existential questions usually involved in Eldritch Horror, and how it evolved outside of Lovecraft. (What she aspires to be like) It’s easier to write Jake when you understand his persona is a collage of juvenile and outdated archetypes taken from action flicks & shitty mainstream comicbooks, that he ultimately fails to ever live up to and hinders his development as a kid at odds with self-imposed traditional masculinity, dreading to publicize the big “Gay” word. (What he fails at becoming)
It’s always useful to ask yourself “Why does this character like (x)” and what that particular thing may say about them. It doesn’t have to be a big groundbreaking revelation, just put yourself into their shoes and try to reverse engineer what you’re presented about them vs their environment, personal issues, and you might just find yourself understanding why they do what they do.
“Karkat probably likes cheesy romantic comedies because they’re peak middleclass normalass media for someone who’s ostracized from troll society and is purposefully a shithead to keep people away”
“Terezi probably likes dragons because they’re FUCKING COOL but also whoops here’s all this historic lore about Redglare and their lusus and a tragic sense of JUST1C3”
“Aradia probably grapples with the concept of mortality and the ephemeral nature of life, so she’s really into the morbid observation of disasters & archeology & bones, i guess? Is this because she died really young? Oh. Maybe yeah.”
But if you find the above too hard to access on your own, that’s where
INTERPRETATIONS come in to make this process smoother in the case you just wanna write an extended cast thing and frankly you could not give less of a shit about (x)’s lore, you just want to have a sense of what people like about them, and why people read about them, and how you can purposefully adapt that into your text so socmedia user halfucker69 isn’t crying on your mentions for 11 whole threaded comments about how you did their babyboybaby wrong. I can’t exactly point to you where you can FIND meta because this highly depends on the character, and sometimes you just have to make your own food, but you’ll be good if you try to look into creators who post about these characters, whose thoughts or fan media seem to be congruent with your idea of said character or solid enough that you can easily see how it’s been developed from point A to point B. Interact with more fanworks. Find out what works for you and what doesn’t. “Character study” is a whole genre of fanfic, if you don’t wanna go for shippy stuff - but a lot of “shippy stuff” has its own valuable edge to seeing how people internalize a character, and shouldn’t be as easily dismissable as it is. Again, you’ll have to rely on your own sense of internal logic here - you can’t take EVERY work as the universal truth, but trying stuff out will give you a better sense of who you think this character is.
Then you have to get around trying to write it, which is easier said than done. A lot of times writing about a character will lead you to understanding them better, and you may even find yourself disagreeing with things past-you said when you were first beginning to think about them, and that’s ok. You only get better at writing by asking better questions and then writing some more. Take your time with it. I hope this helps!

Hello, hope your doing well! I love your writing it's really good! Can I request a soulmate Au for Sekiro/wolf x reader, no.24 in a series format please?? 😊😅 I feel like sekiro doesn't get enough love Lol!
YES. YES. YES. Here you go~! I loved writing this. The timeline is extended more than it is in the game because it took me more than a month to beat the whole game and I doubt it takes just one day to go everywhere that Wolf did in that time.
Also, I have really strong feelings about the whole toxic 'family' relationship between Owl and Wolf. It makes me angry and pretty salty. It just came out in this.
Enjoy! ♡
Tumblr media
"LORD KURO HAS EXPRESSED his desire to meet you." Emma sat across from you on a tatami mat, carefully pouring an herbal tea into two small cups. The glare of the sun, filtering through the open window where a nightjar stood guard, revealed dozens of sparkling gray strands in her hair, attesting to the sudden stress─and worry─that she had been confiding to you for the past couple or so weeks: that Lord Isshin grew steadily worse in condition. "He remembers you only vaguely and wishes to reacquaint himself… Should you wish, Lady [Name]."
      That was your title: Lady. Not washwoman, servant, maid, cook, or soldier; it was Lady. You had been elevated to that status on account of your military prowess long before Kuro had been revealed to be the Dragon's Heritage, but you had made it a point to be there when his mother, tragically, could not. Not after the fire.
      Kuro could have called you many things, if you had lingered in his life. He could have called you his aunt, his friend, or even his advisor, if he wanted. But he reminded you too much of your sister, his mother, and so you couldn't make yourself stay. It would be torture for him to see you, a twin reflection of his mother, as much as it would pain you to see him, a perfect resemblance of both father and mother. You had divested your abode─a small attachment towards the Serpent's Shrine, guarded by the sword wielding monkeys who favored your presence─of mirrors since then, unable to look at your own face.
      "If that's what he wants," you replied carefully, watching the shining beacon of your soulmate's danger meter rise steadily over the kanji for 'safe', 'threat', and jump right up to 'lethal'. You had watched this phenomena happen for years now, except for a brief period after the fire, but you couldn't say who it belonged to. There were plenty soldiers who risked their lives every day, but none of them had managed to cheat death so often as yours. "I don't believe he'll be safe in Ashina, not with the Dragon's Heritage."
       "You are correct." Emma set the tea pot down and offered you a cup. You took it from her one handed, preferring to warm your other hand in your lap. She took no offense, used to your daily problems with the chill. "Lord Kuro has already been taken by Lord Genichiro once. I do not doubt he would try once again. And there are others, a particular shinobi, whose motives are a mystery to me, that I don't trust."
       "You speak of Owl. Not… Wolf." You hesitated to call Kuro's loyal shinobi by that name. While it was common to do so, just like the names Orangutan and Kingfisher, you had difficulty equating such loyalty to a shinobi who most definitely would reject the Iron Code if given the chance. The meter dropped down to 'safe' again, and that knot in your throat lessened just a bit. "Am I right?"
       "Yes. He has been absent in all of this, and it's too suspicious for him to be so distant in the middle of such strife. With the ministry rallying, it's only a matter of time before things go from bad to worse. Which is why, if something happens to Wolf, as it did during the fire, I would like for you to be there to protect Lord Kuro."
       You were still young, still in your prime. You hadn't counted in many years, but you had to guess you were thirty five at the most, your sister being thirty when she passed. You were almost close to not being a spring chicken anymore. "If that is what you wish, my friend."
       Your journey to Ashina Castle was a short, but boring one. The soldiers bowed to you as you passed, putting up no sort of issue, glimpsing the family crest you wore attached to your obi. You had decided on a neutral colored yukata, designed for winter, and a thin haori to go over it and block out the cool air. Wearing a kimono would just be difficult at this point.
       When you made it to the tower lookout, you were greeted─surprisingly─by Kuro himself. Emma had told you that he rarely left the archives now that Genichiro was out on the loose, run rampant by the Rejuvenating Sediment, so it was a bit of a shock considering what you had been told. You realized that he had been watching you leap across the rooftops, too lazy to take the proper way, with a nightjar at your side to keep you from falling to your death.
        By his side, hand on a katana that had been named Kusabimaru, stood Wolf. You knew, almost instantly, that he was the one who had been causing your meter to skyrocket at various times of the day and fluctuate wildly. It was almost like a seventh sense, drawing you to him even though you didn't take a step in his direction. By looking at his face, the soulmate pull had been overrode by the desire to protect Kuro, and you found that admirable.
       So you looked away, those dark eyes still trained on you guardedly, and faced Kuro once more. He looked more and more like his parents as he aged, so much so that it was almost painful to look at him.
       He seemed to be having similar thoughts, eyebrows creased just slightly.
      "Lord Kuro," you greeted him, bowing slightly at the waist. That was where you differentiated from your sister; your voices were very different. Where your sister held a stern, throaty voice, yours was very soft and quiet, but held a hard edge that had Wolf on alert. "It's nice to see you again."
       "Lady [Name]." Kuro stepped forward, Wolf in his shadow. He reached out, hesitantly, but propriety stopped him from touching you. "I…"
     You smiled and kneeled down just slightly, careful not to dirty your yukata, and took his hands in yours. "It's alright. I know I look a lot like her. It's hard, isn't it?"
     He didn't say a word, but you could see it in his eyes that it did. You squeezed his hands and stood back to your full height, allowing his fingers to slip from yours. He was still so tiny.
      "Let us go inside. The birds have ears, here," you urged cautiously. Wolf seemed to realize what you were talking about and his eyebrows lowered suspiciously; typical.
       For the next few days, you relearned how to deal with children burdened with an enormous task. Sometimes, Kuro just wanted to be normal and have a normal life, which you understood. The life of the Dragon's Heritage did not come peacefully or cheaply; it was dangerous, rife with struggle. It was why, he told you over tea while Wolf was gone, that he wanted to end it.
      And you, like Emma, didn't want that to happen.
     You also, somehow, figured out that Wolf knew what you were to him, too. He never said much of anything at all to you, perhaps because of your relation to Kuro, and kept his distance when he was present. You were certain that Owl had ruined him in more ways than one with the Iron Code; you saw the drawn muscles in his face, when you were too young to have a soulmate meter, the ribs underneath that threadbare yukata. You knew that Owl starved him, probably beat lessons into him, to make him a cheaper asset to deal with. That was how Owl worked.
        It didn't stop you, or Kuro, from pressuring him to eat. Emma seemed to not want to cross that boundary of necessary acquaintance with him, which you were fine with. Kuro was good at coaxing him into eating, when he was even there, but all you had to do was set food in front of him and level him with an expectant stare, then turn to the window.
      Words seemed to escape him, most of the time, with you─but body language seemed just fine. It was easier to read to him, you supposed, being a shinobi, because intent was laid bare unless you knew how to hide it. You did. You didn't see the point when all he wanted was to protect Kuro.
       One night, while Kuro labored away over the books in the library, determined to find the source of a white flower, Wolf appeared in your quarters. He was severely wounded, the Dragon's Heritage unable to fix it quickly enough, and you darted towards him, catching him before he fell to the floor. He was worryingly light.
       As you laid him on your bed and began to clean out his wounds as best you could, you had to wonder why he didn't go to Emma. The gourd he had was empty; shouldn't she have been able to refill it? You let the gourd fill up a little bit and then made him drink it, careful to let him swallow on his own time and not choke.
       The flesh knitted before your eyes, as fast as lightning, but it was still fresh and raw, so you placed bandage wrappings over it. Whatever had attacked him had extremely long claws, as long as your body, and had gouged inch deep holes into his chest and back. They would scar, but he had plenty of other scars to be seen.
      You situated his clothing back to the way it was, returned to the windowsill where you had been reading a scroll lent to you by Isshin, and waited.
       Somehow, you had drifted off without noticing, the wooden scroll loose in your hand. You clenched it unconciously and opened your eyes, shocked to see the sun and not the moon. When you looked over, expecting to see Wolf still asleep, you were surprised to find him kneeling in front of you, head bowed, as if he had been waiting for you to wake up.
      "Wolf?" You whispered, voice hoarse, sliding sideways to place your feet on the tatami mat. "How long have you been awake?"
       "Not long." That could mean anything to him.
      "I see. How do you feel?" You got to your feet and kneeled down, resting your hand on his shoulder. He never looked at you, though you felt the muscle in his shoulder twitch in response. "You should still be resting."
        "I'll be fine. Thank you."
        "Of course." You blinked, eyes wide. "I'm your soulmate, aren't I? I wouldn't just let you bleed out and die."
        The telltale silence told you more than he could say.
        He had expected you to let him die.
       "Oh, Wolf," you sighed, urging him to his feet. He did so reluctantly, wary of your closeness but not fighting to push you away. "Owl ruined you more than I can even begin to understand."
       Again, he didn't speak, but he knew it was true.
       You smiled sadly at him, then reached up and pulled the ribbon keeping your hair tied in a loose bun. You grabbed his hand and pressed it into his palm, closing his fingers around it with your own.
       "There." You gently removed your hands; he opened his fist to stare at it. "Any time you feel any negative emotions, just look at that ribbon and remember what I told you. You can come here anytime you need me."
       He never said anything else, just left out the window he had come in through. For the first time since you had met him, he looked marginally more relaxed, more reassured, as if the idea of returning to someone who explicitly desired his presence was a comforting one.
      Over the next few months, Wolf never did pop in while you were awake, but he did leave little things for you to find when you awoke, like a small amount of rice from the Divine Child, a branch of gorgeous blossoms from the Fountainhead Palace, or even Lapis Lazuli, a precious stone that you had converted into a makeshift pendant.
       Kuro eventually slipped up and called you his aunt, which you delighted in. Isshin called you over for sake and old war stories, which you both recalled with excitement and solemnity. Emma brought you to visit Orangutan, who took one look at you and found himself remembering you on the battlefield; she helped you give offerings to your sister and brother-in-law's graves.
      But you knew that all of it was coming to an end.
       Just days before, Wolf had returned with the Gracious Gift of Tears. He had met your sad stare with one of hard resolve, and you knew that it was almost time. With the everblossom in hand, he had told you his decision secretly.
      He would die so that Kuro could live. And you had no issue with that; that was his life's purpose, the only purpose that Owl had given him that had benefited him. His love for Kuro was bright, innocent, and strong, even if he was oblivious that it was love.
       You had shed a few tears, of course, but you knew that above all, Kuro had wanted a normal life. There had been nothing else to discuss.
       That night, before Wolf was due to fight Genichiro one last time and─Kuro would tell you afterwards, when the sun had risen, Isshin as well─he had given you all he could offer a woman, and more, because after daybreak, the last immortal would be condemned.
       You had awoken to sunlight, bare and satiated, sad with the knowledge that your soulmate was no more. The meter flickered out of existence as if it had never been there to begin with.
      With Isshin and Wolf departed, there was no reason for you to remain in the rotting ruin of Ashina any longer. You gave Kuro your blessing to journey the world, as he had wished, and sent him off alongside Emma.
      Three months later, you would realize that Wolf had left you a gift; something most precious and valuable, something you would love until the day you died, and forever after that.
        A child.
       When you gave birth, Emma was there to help you. Orangutan had even departed from his temple to stand guard outside and greet the new life that had entered the world.
        It was a boy, Emma revealed with a small smile, and handed him to you. He looked nothing like you. With a faint dusting of black hair and dark eyes, he was every bit just like Wolf.
      And somewhere, out in the distance, you heard the Divine Dragon begin to sing.

_________________________________________
“Maybe it’s contemporary art”
You pointed at the destroyed painting on the floor which made Mal stare at you in disbelief. Ok, maybe now wasn’t the best time for light hearted jokes.
Thus, it was probably better not to say anything about the curtains being all torn up since no one took notice of them…
Ben’s castle was not very different from the rest of Auradon: dead silent and a wicked atmosphere hovered in the air. Well, it was until everyone started searching for the king.
Everyone was calling for Ben but that made absolutely no sense, you thought. If Audrey had gone to the castle, she’d have turned Ben to stone or something, making impossible for him to answer. All the noise would just draw her attention, if she didn’t already know you were there which was very likely, by the way.
Really, why couldn’t she set Ben’s clothes on fire, break his favorite clock, shave his eyebrows? It’d have been so much easier to deal with.
Humans always had to make everything more difficult, hadn’t they?
You had gone through the whole the castle and found no one and also Dude had lost the track of Ben’s scent, the best option now would be to go back to Auradon Prep since it was the last place Audrey was seen at. But of course Mal wasn’t entirely convinced that the castle was empty and you were checking the last room left: it was a large hall full of coats of arms, vitrals and armors.
Why were there so many armors? Questionable decorating choice, if someone asked you. And unless Ben was hiding inside one of them, he wasn’t there either. Coming to Ben’s castle had been a completely waste of time.
“Hey!” someone called you, way too over-excited. “We weren’t properly introduced yet, I’m Gil”
The muscular boy extended his hand smiling widely at you. You shook his hand, presenting yourself.
“Are you a princess?” he asked. While Harry called you a princess with disdain, Gil appeared to be genuily interested in you, then again, he was fascinated by everything in Auradon, from the leaves on the trees to the berries in the bushes.
“I am” you answered him.
It seemed to be physically impossible, but his smile grew even bigger than before.
“I’ve never met a princess before. Your highness” he bowed and then looked at you with gleaming eyes “Have I done it right?”
Gil looked very proud of himself and it broke your heart. It was infuriating to think how many wonderful kids were stuck and forgotten on that Isle. For 20 years no one thought or cared about them, even now most people believed that the Isle’s inehabitants were dangerous and past redemption. You dared King Beast to look in Gil’s eyes and say he was a criminal who deserved to be punished for the rest of his life.
“Yes, you did. But you don’t have to do it, really.” you said and he nodded in agreement. Ok, you decided, out of Uma’s friends Gil was your favorite.
All you wanted to do was to find Audrey and go back home, but what was an already difficult task in itself was getting even harder because of Uma and Mal incessant bickering. You tried to ignore when Mal said she wandered what fried octopus tasted like. One thing that never entered humans’ head was that mermaids and fishes were friends, one day you were hanging out with a squid or a crab and suddenly they were fished and eaten by some unfeeling human. Sebastian still had nightmares about the time he got trapped inside your uncle’s…
Oh, wait. Did that armor just move?
Shit.
Everyone noticed it too, excepting Uma and Mal because they were too distracted fighting with each other.
“Girls!” Harry yelled “We have a situation here”. You wished you had a phone to take a picture of Uma’s face at this moment. She looked outraged by the audacity of Harry to cut her off.
At least now everyone was completely aware of that all the armors in that cursed place were moving towards you and ready to cut you all into tiny pieces. Drawing back wasn’t even an option since you were completely surrounded, the only chance you had to get out of this mess would be to fight.
WHY WERE THERE SO MANY ARMORS? If you survived this, you’d have a long talk to Ben about interior design.
Good thing everyone was optimistic about defeating them because, by your account, you were way outnumbered… not that Uma and Mal seemed to care since they were quarreling again. Evie was the one who got fed up with all the nonsense and stepped in and, while she tried to talk them into their senses again, you took the comb from your hair, ready to make it assume its true form. If Fairy Godmother didn’t have a rule against magic… or weapons being unnecessarialy used, you wouldn’t even bother changing your trident into a hair comb. You looked super badass carrying your trident around like the bitching sea queen you were…
Would be….
Whatever…
“Will you really brush your hair now, princess?”
That.
Mocking.
Tone.
Again.
You could either punch him right now or wait for an enchanted knight to do it…. but you had a better idea.
His eyes widened and his mouth dropped open when he saw the comb that had been in your hand the moment before become an imponent trident. You watched with delight that ridiculous smirk on his face change into a shocked face. It always amazed you the look people made when they realized that your cute hair pin could make someone bleed to death, and Harry Hook did not disappoint you.
That would answer his question about your fighting skills.
The jerk.
But you had no time to think any further about Harry Hook and his pesky presence, the knights were near and you had a battle to face.
————–
It was official, you hated the human world and the ridiculous armors they used as house decoration. If Belle and the Beast (did he even have a name or his name was really Beast? Whatever…) hadn’t decide that every single corner of that castle needed to have a knight’s suit, you wouldn’t have had to be dodging swords attacks coming from every single angle that you could think of. It didn’t matter how hard or fast you hit them or that they were too heavy to react because they were enchanted. They could be slow to strike, but they neither got tired nor hurt, so you could attack them as much as you wanted and it didn’t make any difference, you were just scratching the metal. They were many and you were only 8, this wasn’t a fair battle, at all
“We need magic to defeat those things” you shouted to Mal while hitting a knight right in his chest, he stumbled a little but regained his balance fast enough. At the same time that you avoided another hit, you caught a glimpse of Harry who was close to you and unaware of the armor approachinh him from behind.
C'mon Harry, turn around…
Gosh, you had to do everything.
The knight striked again, but you avoided the blow. Taking this as a cue, you ran towards Harry and, as you did so, you managed to knock down the armor that was ready to attack the pirate. The sound of metal hitting the floor made the boy turn his head, he saw the armour laying on the floor and gave you a surprised look; either the boy didn’t expect you were able to fight or he didn’t expect that you would put yourself at risk to help him.
“You can thank me later” you said already attacking another hellish knight.
Thank goodness Mal had heard you and decided to use her magic against the cursed armors and before you could blink, the knights stopped moving and fell in the middle of the room.
It was about time.
Everyone was celebrating the victory, there were no more Uma’s crew or Mal’s gang, all of them were friends and, well… it ended as fast as it started. In one second they were cheering and laughing and in the other they rememrebed they didn’t like each other. The friendliness lasted two seconds, it was a new record.
Both gangs walked away from each other, Uma and her pirates stood on one side, and Mal and the VKs stood on the other. Celia and you decided to stay away watching them from afar.
Evie, who seemed determined to make everyone to get along, proposed an icebreaker and it took all your willpower to not to laugh at your friends’ faces upon hearing this. You have never heard so many groans or seen people looking away so fast in your life: Uma was probably deliberating all the choices she did in her life and looked like she could use a drink, or five, while Gil was just confused. Carlos and Jay were clearly unconfortable and would prefer to sleep forever than to go through this, and the only reason Mal didn’t shut Evie down right at the spot was because she dind’t want to hurt the girl’s feelings. And Harry…
It was a surprise to you when he didn’t come up with some ironic comment. Actually, he looked rather astonished when Evie complimented him and it appeared he was about to reply her before Uma cut him off.
And then she and Mal restarted their usual bickering.
Maybe the icebreaker wasn’t a bad idea, after all.
“Summer School?” Harry laughed “No wonders she wants revenge”.
Not that you’d ever say it out loud, but the pirate had a valid point.
Finally, they decided on following Uma’s initial plan to the joy of the sea witch’s daughter. Apparently, Audrey was still in Auradon Prep, so the girls would go and check her room for clues, and the boys would look out for Ben.
Everyone was ready to leave, but before the team split you spoke up.
“Actually, I’m going with the guys, ok?”
“Why?” Mal questioned you, raising an eyebrow.
“Because if Audrey shows up it’s better that at least one person knows how to use magic” you explained.
“No, the amber is the only thing that can defeat her, you wouldn’t stand a chance” Mal was clearly annoyed that you were holding them back, but you ignored the whay she glared at you and went on.
“Even so, I may be able to hold her off with my trident. You, Uma and Evie got brains, strenght and magic. Jay, Carlos, Gil and Harry, on the other hand….”
Your eyes lingered on the boys in front of you who, you knew for a fact, would kill each other in the first opportunity.
“Too edgy” you pointed to Jay.
“Too pure” and Carlos.
“Too bubbly” Gil.
“Too…” you looked Harry up and down and shrugged “Honestly? I can’t even describe him.”
Mal went silence for a moment, deliberating whay you had said, while everyone else was staring at you with a look you knew too well. It was the famous “I can’t believe she actually said that” face.
“Fine, you proved your point” Mal finally declared and the ofended look on Jay’s face almost made you laugh. You’d have to apolize to him later… But right now you had a king to find before Mal snapped at you again.
You and the guys left the castle and followed Dude, who had detected Ben’s scent.
“I’m not edgy” said Jay with a pout, looking too adorable to be taken seriously.
“Didn’t you almost break your arm trying to learn R.O.A.R just for the sake of beating Chad? Or what about that time when you got into a fight with a guy twice your size because he said the only reason you won the tourney game was because everybody on the other team was scared to come near a villain kid? ” you asked him.
“Hey! You were encouraging me!” he reminded you, laughing about the incident.
“I was not” you denied, putting your hand on your chest in a mocking manner “How dare you to suggest I’d ever do something like that”. You tried to make a serious face, but broke into a smile in a matter of seconds as you remembered that day. "Did we punch him, though? I can’t recall".
“No, Carlos stopped us… he is too pure” the VK teased, and Carlos didn’t take it kindly. As he passed by the both of you, he hit Jay’s arm hard enough to make his friend yelp.
“Come back here, Carlos” Jay called and ran after him “I was only joking”.
You giggled.
Humans, what dorks.
Minding your own business, you kept walking silently. Your friends were ahead, making sure to not lose Dude from their sight. Things appeared to be safe, at least for now, so you decided to change your trident into its pocket version, and with one quick motion of your hand, it became a hair comb again.
“How do you do that?” it was Gil who asked and he seemed utterly puzzled by your trident.
“Oh, it’s magic.” you said while Gil observed with narrowed eyes you place the enchanted comb in your hair, the boy was staring so intensively at it that looked like he was wainting for the comb to burst into flames or something “It’s no big deal, really”
“Yeah, you’re probably used by it, right? But we don’t have magic on the Isle…” he looked down, ashamed of being impressed by something that was so ordinary to you, and you felt terrible. You didn’t mean to upset him.
“Oh no, I mean… I just never really thought about it…” you tried to explain.
“Of course you didn’t, why do people in Auradon would think how their lives are perfect?” Harry, who had been oddly quiet, spoke. However, if he were expecting you to ague with him, he’d be disappointed. The pirate could get on your nerves but you couldn’t be a hypocrite and deny all the privileges you had just because you were born on the “right” side of the barrier.
Of course Harry didn’t know that was how you felt about the barrier and took the lack of a response as an confirmation.
“How nice it must be to have everything, huh?” he tried to sound cynical, but you could hear the hurt and bitterness in his voice.
“King Triton has a trident too, you know.” Gil said absently, ignoring completely the tension between Harry and you “It was on the Isle two years ago, we almost got it”
“Yeah I know. I nearly killed my cousin when I discovered she messed up with grandpa’s trident” you remembered like it was yesterday. Your cousin Arabella decided she wanted to prove her worth by summoing a storm using your grandfather’s magical trident. If this wasn’t reckless enough, she also lost the trident that ended up on the Isle. Thanks to Mal and her gang the trident was recoreved before your grandfather noticed it was gone.
What a day.
“Wait, your grandfather? Are you…?” Gil’s eyes widened when he realized who you were.
“Yeap, King’s Triton granddaughter, that’s me.” you finished his sentence, very proud of being who you were.
“Then you are a mermaid!” the blond boy’s eyes moved to your legs and he frowned at them, as if he couldn’t understand what they were doing there “If you are a mermaid, where is your fishtail?”
You chuckled and explained. It wasn’t the first time someone asked you that, but you didn’t mind. Actually, everytime you had the chance to brag about being a mermaid, you did it.
“When I need to be on land I turn into a human”
“Uma is Ursula’s daughter, did you know that?” it amazed you how Gil was capable of saying anything in such a light manner. Most people would be very cautious about speaking of the former villain of someone’s family in their presence but not Gil, he definitely didn’t mind bringing the subject up.
If you knew that Uma was the sea witch’s daughter? IF YOU KNEW THAT. You have been talking about this girl for years and, in the past months, you literally hid her in your room. YOU DID KNEW THAT.
This was what you really wanted to say, but instead you laughed it off “I think I’ve heard her name a few times”.
“Is it his trident?” it was Harry the one making a question now and, for the first time, he seemed genuinely curious and not just being sarcastic or cunning.
“Oh no… it was a gift from him, actually. It’s not as powerful as his, though. But it’s good enough” one thing that never ever bothered you was to talk about your life as a mermaid. If someone ever decided to write a tale about you, people would stop thinking that every mermaids’ wish was to become human.
You just loved being a mermaid and nothing would ever change that.
“What can it do?” he inquired, taking a closer look at the comb in your hair. He was wondering about the damage that could cause, no doubt.
“It can control water, for the most part. But is also good to beat the shit out of my enemies”
He smiled.
Harry Hook had sincerely smiled at you.
Maybe people were right, maybe you were born on the Isle and were switched at birth with some kid from Auradon. It would explain your talent for befriending villain kids.
You have never made friends easily, better saying, people didn’t want to be friends with you because of your reputation of being temperamental and moody, which wasn’t entirely true. You just didn’t care about being on the spotlight or doing what people expected you to do. Did you have to to sing along with woodland creatures just because you were a princess? Your area of expertise was marine life, for crying out loud. Squirrels and mice freaked you out! Once, a guy asked you on a date and thought it would be a good idea to go to a sea food restaurant!
You weren’t moody, humans were the ones who had the emotional range of a barnacle.
Also, a lot of people in Auradon were too self-absorbed, they thought everyone had a lovely happy life like them. Everytime you brought the Isle up they said you were overreacting and that it couldn’t be that bad. You wondered if they could see the black clouds that covered the place or if they even remembered that all Auradon’s leftovers were sent there.
You tried to be patiente but sometimes -well, most of times- you could not help yourself and ended up speaking your mind. At least from now on, you could claim that you have never cursed anyone out of spite.
Thanks, Audrey.
“If we’re getting to know each other, I have a question for you” you said to Harry who arched an eyebrow, curious about what you were going to say “Is your accent real?”
He blinked in confusion, not sure if he had heard you right.
“Yes! What kind of question is that?” he was perplexed by what you asked. Harry wasn’t used to people commenting on his accent and the times someone had said something about it, it was always to make fun of him - and Harry always made sure they learned not to do it again. So, he didn’t know if you were serious or simply mocking him.
“I don’t know. I believed you were being dramatic, to be honest. The eyeliner, the coat… The accent could very well be part of your pirate aesthetic” You didn’t want to sound rude or anything, you honestly imagined the accent was only him being theatrical, but since he didn’t answer right away (not even a ironic remark), you added quickly “It’s a lovely accent, it suits you”.
At first, you expected him to shut you down or tell you to fuck off. However, as he didn’t reply anything, you thought you really had offended the boy. You were ready to apologize (you could be the sea bitch, but you weren’t rude…). Instead, he bursted into laughter and you frowned, not understanding what was so funny to make Harry Hook laugh like that.
That boy was completely unpredictable.
“It’s not an aesthetic, lass. I’m a pirate” it was the first time since you met that Harry seemed so amused and it wasn’t at someone’s expanses. “Why did you think this?”
“Well, you do walk around carrying a hook” you pointed to the sharp object he kept holding since the moment you laid your eyes on him.
“And who are you to judge? You have a magical trident in your hair.”
It was your turn to laugh, maybe Harry wasn’t that bad.
“Fair enough, I can’t argue against it” you agreed with him,
Upon hearing your words, his mouth twisted into a smug grin…
“I knew you would warm up to me, princess”
Yeah, you took back what you thought seconds before, Harry Hook was insufferable. You huffed in annoyance and walked away from him and his pompous attitude.
Humans were never worth the stress.

Survey #296
“reality’s a plague; we’re the medication”
How are you doing in this time of COVID19? Do you personally know anyone who is not taking COVID19 seriously? Tired of it. Don’t see an end to it. I know a bunch of dumbasses who don’t take it seriously at all. What do you think of TikTok? Have you jumped on it yet? Why or why not? I don’t have an opinion on it. What hobby or interest of your significant other do you have ZERO interest in? What about something you actually think might be fun or something you actually picked up thanks to them? If you don’t have an SO, you can think of a relative or friend as an example instead. No s/o, sooo I’ll use best friend instead. Tbh I can’t say I have ZERO interest in anything she likes… If it makes her happy, I’m thankful for it. To answer the second half, she definitely got me into Wings of Fire. Have you ever felt affected by the death of a celebrity or public figure? If so, who? Do you remember when you found out and what was your reaction to it? Steve Irwin comes to mind very quickly. I remember exactly who told me and where I was. I was heartbroken. He was my childhood hero. Did you ever get called horrible names like whore, skank, bitch? I’ve been called a bitch. A sea salt dark chocolate w/ caramel filling Ghiradelli square from Christmas. Can you speak any unusual languages? No. Did you do gymnastics in elementary school? No. Have you ever performed in front of a large audience? Yeah; I was in dance classes for a long time, so we had recitals and went to competitions. I never did a solo, though. I was going to my senior year (senior solos are typical), but I got too nervous to continue with it. It was to "Coma White" by Marilyn Manson. Do you like BBQ sauce? Ugh, I hate it. Last time you wore the opposite sex's clothing? Right now. I always wear men's pj pants. Are you currently fighting with someone? No. Have you ever kept anything wild as a pet? When I was little, I know my sisters and I kept a box turtle that wandered into our yard for a while. We eventually let it go. Then when I would go fishing with Dad, one of my absolute favorite things to do was try to catch the minnows and tadpoles in my hands, and so I had a fishbowl of those. Don't keep wild animals, please. Do you set good examples for little kids? Probably not. Does your house have a pool? No, but I REALLY want one. It would be so helpful in strengthening my legs without sweating my ass off and feeling like I'm going to collapse. When you were younger, were you ever in a relationship with someone you now realize was way too old for you? No. Have you ever had a seizure? No, but I've actually had very short (I mean like, a second), sudden spasms when lying down that feel like what I assume a seizure to feel like. I think it's a side effect of my nightmare medication. What's the longest hotel stay you've ever had? Not long at all. Just a few days. Do any of your friends or family members have strange occupations? Maybe? What small thing makes you automatically distrust someone? Making dark/dangerous jokes. Of all the states/provinces in your country, which one is your favorite? I haven't been to nearly enough to know. Have you ever had to wear a school uniform? In middle school. Would you rather sleep on the top bunk or bottom bunk? My fat ass ain't getting in the top bunk. Are you close with your cousins? None, really. Are you close to any aunts or uncles? Also not really, but one of my mom's brothers is closest to that. Are you close to your grandparents? They're all dead, but I wasn't very close to any. I never really see my extended family. What was your favorite thing to do at sleepovers when you were younger? Go swimming, if they had a pool. If they didn't or it just wasn't up, I liked playing two-player video games. Do you know what you want to do for your next birthday? Probably go to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner and dessert with family and just chill at home for most of the day. What is the last new thing you discovered that was really good? Peanut butter fudge, like holy shit. Did you ever skip a grade or get held back a grade? No. What is the best hairstyle you've ever had? What I have now. Do you think you look better with dyed hair or natural hair? DYED. Do you think your look better with curly hair or straight hair? Straight. Have you ever won a contest? Yes. How many drawers does your dresser have? Five. Do you do your own taxes, or do you hire a professional? N/A What song hit you so hard that you remember where you were the first time you heard it? Oh man, what a question. Music can affect me very deeply, so honestly there's probably a number that fit this criteria if I thought for long enough, but I'm not gonna spend ten minutes trying to pick the best one. "Eternally Yours" by Motionless In White will do, I guess because that was probably the most recent. I don't let myself listen to it, even though I love it. It'll only drag me into a trauma pit. What's your "brand" of fictional character, the type you always get attached to (ex., "perky girls with deep-seated mental health issues," "guys who you would want as an older brother," etc.)? Totally the sarcastic and usually well-composed villain. If you use Spotify, share your 2020 Wrapped! What are your overall feelings about it? Is it what you expected? I don't use it. If you’re a ~gamer~, what are your top 3 all-time favorite games? Silent Hill 2, Shadow of the Colossus, and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. What’s the biggest red flag you’ve ever ignored? I dunno; I'm pretty good at listening to those. What’s something extremely bizarre you believed as a very young child? It's fucking embarrassing that I went through this many-years-long "I have animal powers given to me by a wolf I made up!!!" thing, holy god. Like, I thought I could "activate" traits of certain animals. Kids are fuckin wild, but I was exceptionally so. What is the biggest conflict in your life right now? With myself. Through a lot of digging with my therapist, she got me to realize that I don't feel that I'm rightfully lovable because I'm not "successful" and "going nowhere." It hit like a ton of fucking bricks when I understood the "why" of feeling like that. Like don't get me wrong, I don't think I'm a bad person that is worthy of being hated, but totally deserving of pure love, no. So my therapist has me tell myself "I am lovable" in the mirror every morning, and I don't believe it. I'm trying to, but every time I'm just like "lol but are you really?" If you could change your current life schedule to incorporate more or less time for certain things, how would you do so? Do you feel like you have a well-structured and well-balanced schedule at the moment? My schedule is embarrassing, truly. I wake up, get on the computer, go to bed, and that's just about it, taking care of bodily needs being sprinkled in there throughout. I want to change it so, so badly, but I'm just... so set in my ways. I want to incorporate at least 30 minutes of daily reading, and I've yet to start my Wii Fit exercising because I'm waiting for Mom to move into her room (she stays and sleeps in the living room rn) because I do NOT like exercising in front of ANYBODY. I don't care if she gave birth to me. I also want to spend less time just hopping between websites on the laptop just because I can't find anything to do. It'd be nice to draw more, too... but for that, I really need to like the idea of what I'm drawing to stay even slightly motivated. There's probably more to this, but yeah, that's enough. What filler words do you find yourself using most often ("um," "you know," etc.)? "Um" or "uh," probably. I fumble over my words so much as well as just total derail on what I'm talking about that filler words are very, very common for me. When was the last time you felt let down? What were your expectations about the given situation that weren't met? Ugh, so apparently when my laptop was fixed, a lot of things were reset, and that included Lightroom, my primary photography editing software. I lost all my presets and I initially thought pictures too, but thank Christ I had a backup dialogue. I'm still pretty annoyed, because I can't find my favorite free LR download site. I didn't at all expect my laptop to be affected as heavily as it was, just getting a new DC port... If you enjoy taking and editing photos, how would you describe your editing style? This greatly depends on the subject matter and composition, but I feel a common theme is I enjoy vibrance. I war with myself a lot if I make them too saturated, but idk. Have you ever been inspired by a celebrity to change something about your appearance (your clothing style, hairstyle, etc.)? Is much of your taste/style inspired by celebrities? If not, what else serves as an inspiration for you? Ha! Guys, I'm not going to bullshit you, when I got into GMM, I loved Link's big, "nerdy" glasses so much that I became very curious as to how they'd look on me. Years later, I still kept the style and think they've looked best on me of all my glasses. I love them. For the second question, no, not really. My personal aesthetics dictate my style selections. When was the last time you felt a friendship was petering out? If a friendship seems to be fizzling, do you go out of your way to try to "save it," or do you accept that it may have just reached its natural conclusion? Ugh. This has happened in so very many of my friendships that I don't even like thinking about it. If we're talking the most recent time, I suppose with Alex. She just started talking to me less and less before vanishing (to clarify, she's an online friend). Considering just how poorly I handle loss, I'm the type to always try to save friendships I still cherish. Who is your favorite contemporary writer, author, poet, thinker? I don't know. What are your thoughts on body positivity vs. body neutrality? I believe in seeing your body and loving it for all it does, considering it's a masterpiece of biology, but, I also feel it is vital to consider its health. In other words, no, I do not think morbidly obese or emaciated individuals should think their body is... I can't think of the right word, really. "Ideal," I suppose? And keep in mind: this is coming from an obese person. I don't want someone to tell me "your body is perfectly fine!" or "you should just accept you the way you are!" when I spend almost every minute of every day thinking to some degree about how much I hate my fucking weight. No, I don't want to be convinced I should settle and neglect the wellbeing of the one body I have, but I in no way support bashing or being rude to people who are unhealthy, either. I feel like my stance on this is kinda hard to explain. Just respect your body as well as others' and their efforts to treat it the best they can. Do you enjoy keeping secrets from people, like having something about yourself that no one else knows? I mean, I don't enjoy it... I'd prefer to have none. If you play video games, what do you usually like to play? If you don't play video games, do you like watching others play? If so, what? I really like horror games, more than any. Fantasy ones with dragons and gods and the like are awesome, too. I don't enjoy a lot of games that are pretty much just movies with player decisions that barely affect the ending (I do like watching these, though), nor do sportsy or action things normally do it for me. It's by serious luck that I'm an avid World of Warcraft player, because I don't tend to like very grindy games, but I suppose WoW is an exception with the absolutely endless options of what you can do. Onto the second part of the question: totally. I wouldn't watch let's plays if I didn't, and I grew up loving to watch my dad and brother play. I'll watch an even wider variety of games than I play, but it more so depends on who the person is versus what they're playing, because whom I watch is controlled by whether or not/how much I enjoy the individual themselves. What are three things you like about nature? Just three? Damn... Well, the easiest I suppose can be summed up in a quote: "As above, so below." All is tied together. I could go on a romantic monologue about the beauty of our connection to the infinite stars we look upon and the ground we stand on, but I'll spare ya that poem. I love, love, love the sounds of nature: birds chirping, zephyrs through the trees, the crunching of fall leaves. All of it. Then, there's the power of nature! I live for those pictures of nature just taking the Earth back: desolate homes eaten by vines, all that. To call nature merely "spectacular" is truly an act of disrespect, pretty much. What do teenagers have right now that you wish you had when you were their age? Hm. I guess better phones.

In almost every period romance that has been written in the 21 century, couples have a sexual relationship very similar to the ones we have. Is that historically accurate? Did some couples have healthy sexual relationship that wasn't just the woman laying back thinking about England while her husband did all the work?
[cw: mention of rape]
I covered a little bit of something similar to this in my post about sexual education of the times, but basically…yeah. There’s absolutely no reason to suppose that Georgian and Regency couples weren’t having plenty of fun in the sack. Or the library. Or the stables. You get my point.
Georgians were delightfully, unabashedly bawdy. Yes, Fanny Hill was banned and from a modern perspective is a cavalcade of yikes yikes yikes in several respects; but when I say banned I mean just officially, and there was a slew of unregulated printings that got people access to forbidden and spicy texts. Plays had riotously sexual jokes, and even genteel ladies could get away with performing songs with rather saucy and sexualized lyrics (particularly if the ballad-singer is in-character as a Scotswoman or other ‘foreigner’.)
Of course there were dreadful intersections of ignorance and patriarchy to make things awful for many people, sexually-speaking. Marital rape was not legally acknowledged in the UK until 1991, and not explicitly made illegal until 2003. A 1736 treatise by former Chief Justice Sir Matthew Hale posited “the husband of a woman cannot himself be guilty of an actual rape upon his wife, on account of the matrimonial consent which she has given, and which she cannot retract,” and this view was upheld in John Frederick Archbold’s 1822 Pleading and Evidence in Criminal Cases, which to this day is a leading text in criminal law–so this would have been the common stance of many people in terms of determining ultimate right or wrong, though no doubt anyone with a heart would allow that brutality towards one’s wife was at least unseemly…but then this is all behind closed doors, and even today there are large swathes of the population who have sex they don’t actually want because they feel that’s safer than pushing back against expectations, and would balk at calling such a thing rape, even if it is, by its simplest definition. If people struggle and resist the idea that they may have been raped by their partner in the present-day (and I get it! It’s a devastating concept to grapple with in the midst of what is already a painful and confusing and fragile circumstance! When an assault is non-violent, then acknowledging it as assault can start to feel like it’s something you chose or made happen, and that’s a mindfuck I’m still coming to terms with more than fifteen years after I was assaulted by someone I considered a friend--and let me tell you right now what my therapist told me...nothing you said or did then or now made it what it was: their choice and their actions did;) then how much harder must it have been for people who knew there was no legal remedy, even for the most brutal of intimate assaults? (And it’s not like legal remedy is more than a pipe dream for most victims, today. Fuck this broken system and the sickening culture that built it.)
Outside of heterosexual marriages, things could also be horrible. Raids on molly-houses and capital punishments handed out to cis men caught in homosexual relationships were ongoing in Regency London, and cases of divorce and adultery dragged through the courts became horrifying sensations, a-la Lady Worsley, so there were no doubt plenty of situations where people were oppressed or exploited and otherwise denied a healthy exploration and expression of their own preferred sexuality without condemnation.
But in terms of everyday people who avoided getting caught up in frightening public exposure? I can only suppose that their hearts were as tender as ours and their anatomies as wondrously made in all the variance we know, today, and I fully believe that healthy and satisfying sexual encounters between all sorts of couples (and throuples, and more open relationships where marriages were not always for love or monogamy,) were not uncommon.
The relaxation around modern sexuality in progressive cultures hasn’t stopped fuckboys of all genders and sexualities from being fuckboys, so while the proliferation of inclusive attitudes/language, understandings of consent, birth-control, and the effective treatment and prevention of STIs has made it easier to breathe and safer to bone as our libidos would like, history certainly didn’t have the market cornered on assholes; but for the rest of us, good sex is the sex we want to be having with ourselves and each other, and it’s always been in everyone’s best interest to aim for that.
And from a lot of what I’ve seen on reddit, there are still plenty of people who don’t get what a clitoris is for in the year of our Lord 2019, including people who have a clitoris, so we’re not out of the woods yet for making sure nobody ever has to think about England again.
(Unless England really gets your motor running, in which case, have at it.)

full name.  ventus pronunciation.  ven-tuhs (which is not at all how the latin word is actually pronounced but don’t worry about it) nicknames.  venty-wenty
height.  5′5″ age.  verse dependent. 12 in ux, 16 in bbs and going on 17 in post-kh3. zodiac.  taurus, with his new birthday. original unknown. languages.  japanese. everyone understands everyone else in kingdom hearts anyway, though?? doesn’t matter which world they’re on. it’s that Disney Magic(tm), ig.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS.
hair colour.  golden blonde that edges towards platinum. eye colour.  forest green. skin tone.  pale with yellow undertones. body type.  slight, but athletic. accent.  none, per se, but he will shorten words, mash words together and use some slang. dominant hand.  ambidextrous. he tends to stick with his right, though. posture.  very lax and casual. in battle, he uses a unique and antiquated, backhanded stance. tattoos.  none in any of my canon or canon based verses, even though he likes the idea of it! but in my collegeverse, he’s saving up to get lines drawn between the birthmarks on his back so they look like constellations. most noticeable features.  definitely his eyes, freckles, smile and the armor he wears on his feet, upper arm and abdomen. i’d say that the way he moves around is pretty attention catching in and of itself, considering how speedy, floaty and bouncy he is even without necessarily needing or intending to be. he’s also a bit small for his age, both in terms of height and weight.
CHILDHOOD.
place of “birth.”  daybreak town. hometown.  likely daybreak town. birth weight / height.  unknown.. manner of birth.  as weird as it sounds, necromancy. first words.  unfortunately, “yes, master.” siblings.  luxu could technically constitute in uxverse, depending upon how the both of them would view their situation. otherwise, he starts to think of terra and aqua as his older siblings sometime before the events of birth by sleep and then forever onward. parents.  in a terrihorrible way, the master of masters. if he had any parents before his body was re-animated, then it would be impossible to trace them now. he thinks of eraqus as a father figure, but his feelings on the matter are a big ol’ can of worms. parental involvement.  mom locked him up and used him for experiments. eraqus locked him up, good intentions notwithstanding, and tried to kill him. in other words, not the best!
ADULT LIFE
occupation.  post-kh3, he’s a guardian of light and keyblade master in training. the way aqua and yen sid have it slated, he’ll be taking his mark of mastery exam when he turns 18! current residence.  the land of departure, for now. even though he wouldn’t say it aloud to terra or aqua, he’d really like to leave and live somewhere new someday. close friends.  based off current canon, terra, aqua, lea, isa, sora, minnie, stitch, lilo, cinderella, jaq, hercules and peter pan. i see him having really good chemistry with vanitas, kairi, naminé, roxas, xion, ienzo, riku and demyx too, barring some development and circumstances! relationship status.  i don’t portray ven as having been in any romantic relationship or harboring romantic feelings towards anyone up until post-kh3. what happens from then on is a toss up depending on who i’m interacting with. i.e., right now, he’s dating @midnightpapllion and has a budding crush on @rxcusant‘s vanitas! he’s a good-natured cutie, though, so other teenagers have flirted with him plenty during his travels. he’s just inexperienced and completely oblivious to the intent unless it’s spelled out for him, which tends to discourage most. financial status.  eraqus left a small fortune that he, aqua and terra use exclusively for groceries and supplies for missions. otherwise, he’s got a modest amount of spending money from traversing the worlds. he just doesn’t spend it on much aside from snacks and souvenirs. driver’s license.  cars are Completely nonexistent in his world. he only rides a keyblade glider and, even though there prrrrrobably should be, there’s no actual license required for that. criminal record.  this one time, he harassed some old men in the woods and beat up a cat about twenty times his size. those instances aside, he’s not necessarily above crime or violence as long as it isn’t Too uncouth and serves a purpose, so he’s probably got at least a little more on his rap sheet.
SEX & ROMANCE.
sexual orientation.  pansexual. romantic orientation.  demi and panromantic. preferred emotional role. submissive | dominant | switch |  unsure preferred sexual role.  submissive |  dominant  |  switch |  sex repulsed libido. turn on’s. turn off’s. love language.  even though he’d fail to notice a lot of the patterns himself, ven’s would consist predominantly of physical touch, acts of service and gift giving. as of terra and aqua’s involvement in his life, he’s become a huge touchy feely type. shoulder, arm and back touches, hugging and hand holding are all pretty normal for him in any sort of relationship, but lingering touches would be the big cue where romantic attraction is present. longer or more common hugs as opposed to just short lived hugs of greeting, parting or comfort. increasingly consistent tapping, leaning, nudging or hand holding for no particular reason other than because he gets a random urge to instigate it. acts of service would mostly just boil down to doing a lot of cooking or baking, but if he was in a position to and it wouldn’t be Weird to do so, he’d happily tidy up for someone or do their laundry, too! since the person in question would be on his mind a lot, he’d feel inclined to grab something up if it reminds him of them. probably stuff like flowers, pretty rocks or shells, accessories, snacks, things they’ve mentioned/he’s Noticed they enjoy, etc. etc. relationship tendencies.  mileage may vary for all of this depending on his partner’s personality and boundaries, obviously, but i’m willing to bet he’d be doting and clingy. he’s clingy with pretty much everyone once they give him an inch anyway, so i don’t think anybody would be too surprised or put off if they’ve already been hanging around long enough for him to develop feelings. definitely a little shy when it comes time to say i love you, kiss, go out or snuggle non-platonically, but not awkward or uncertain. the friendship that came before would be the foundation, after all, and he wouldn’t view a romance as something separate from that. more like another layer on top that they can navigate and define together. baseline, his flirting style is a combination of undisguised adoration and big time teasing. aaaand generally, he’d also be very attentive! he accounts for the tinier details, even if he can’t always make sense of them without posing a question or two.
MISCELLANEOUS.
character’s theme song.  i love the canon version of his theme, but i’m linking project destati’s version in particular because it’s orchestrated and extended and kills me dead. hobbies to pass the time.  adventures, walks, star gazing, star charting, flower pressing, bird watching, cooking, ukulele, and the biggie.... NAPPING. mental illnesses.  depression and ptsd. physical illnesses.  you could definitely argue that having his darkness stripped from him is more of a spiritual or mental condition, but to me, it’s a physical one. i think of it like having an organ removed from your body (say, a chunk of your goddamn HEART) or being on the receiving end of blunt trauma. there are mental and spiritual effects, sure. it contributed to his ptsd, depression, and an amnesiac episode, but xehanort stabbed him to make it happen and he’s got the scar and near death experience to prove it, so we’re calling it a physical illness in my house. a reaaaally strange, completely unparalleled, chronic fantasy illness. left or right brained.  right brained for sure. he’s really imaginative and artsy. fears.  being abandoned, especially by those he holds dear. not being smart or strong enough to prevent someone from getting hurt or worse. being deprived of control over his own body or decisions.  self confidence level.  veeeeeery low. when he acts confident, he’s just faking it until he makes it,.which, unless he addresses the root of the problem, won’t be anytime soon. but i’m behind the wheel so this kid’s not going to let being abused define him forever. mark my words. vulnerabilities.  impulsive and bad decision prone. he’s not very physically strong or durable, either. fast, sure. definitely determined to stick it out until the very end. but once you get a couple of good hits in, he’s down. he’ll also undermine his own value and throw his life and safety away on the off chance that it could help someone else, so jot that one down.
tagged by: @kissafist THANK YOU!! ♥ i had so much fun with this. tagging: in addition to livi and sammi who i already pinged above, let’s do @localmagicalboi, @feraliix, @galaxycrxss, @blackasteriia and YOU! but only if you feel like it!

After the Fall Ch. 8 Pillars
LoganLight, AO3
This chapter is dedicated to Kasienda
'Cause I wasn't gonna write this part! Nope, not even a little bit, but here you go!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
". . . Whut?"
". . . I was Chat Noir."
". . . Whut?"
"I was- Okay, sit!" Adrien pushed Nino onto his couch and turned to Kagami for help.
"He's in shock," she stated.
Adrien gave her a look. "Well, obviously."
"Give him a minute."
Adrien made a face and turned away from them to glare out his windows. "Why does . . . What's so . . ." Adrien let out a sound of frustration at his inability to articulate his feelings.
"Finding out anyone we know was hiding something so big would be surprising. It's not just about you, it's about everything."
You don't know the half of it.
Before calling Kagami over for moral support he'd told Nino she didn't know about Carapace or Rena Rouge. It was . . . safer this way . . . He really hated secrets.
Would it have been simpler to do this without Kagami there? Probably. Was he in any state to make the attempt? No. No, he was not. His nerves were on edge and Nino had already been quiet longer than Kagami or maybe it just felt longer and he was-
"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you." Nino was gazing at him with watery eyes.
Adrien gave him a wide-eyed stare before looking away again. "It wasn't your fault . . . There was nothing you could do."
Nino stood suddenly. "You're my best friend! I knew something was wrong but I . . . I should've tried harder! I should've realized! I-"
Adrien strode toward Nino and seized him by the shoulders. "It. Wasn't. Your. Fault!"
"You died! You died and I wasn't there for you! I . . . I left you alone . . ."
"No."
Adrien pulled Nino into an embrace and held tight. "I pushed you away. Not the other way around."
Nino wrapped his own arms around Adrien. "But I let you."
Adrien looked at Kagami. She was turned to the side and glanced at them only briefly out of the corner of her eye. Her body language spoke volumes about how uncomfortable she was. But Adrien couldn't bring himself to feel sorry for putting her in the awkward position of observer, because Kagami's presence steadied him.
"Nino, I'm gonna say something and I need you to listen, okay?"
Nino stepped back and nodded, wipping at his eyes.
"I needed someone who wasn't so involved."
With Ladybug or the Miraculous.
"You're my brother. And that makes you biased." Nino opened his mouth to argue but closed it at Adrien's raised eyebrow, conceading the point. "I needed someone who would be truthful. No, I needed someone I would believe when she told me the truth. I . . . I'm sorry. I should have told you first but . . ."
"But you were afraid," Nino finished for him.
Adrien nodded and took a deep breath. "I've always been afraid . . . of letting people . . . see me. The real me. Even as Chat Noir I felt . . . like I couldn't show anyone . . . Like I couldn't show her any vulnerability. B-b-because if my own father could barely stand to look at me," Nino gripped both of his hands and Kagami set one of her's on his shoulder. "W-why would anyone else . . . Why would anyone else . . ."
Why would anyone else care about me?
They guided him to the couch. Adrien covered his tears with his hands as his shoulders shook. They didn't say anything just yet, mearly held him comfortingly. Nino pressed himself into Adrien's side so there was as little space between them as possible. Kagami poured all her presence into the small points of contact where they touched.
". . . Do you . . . still believe that?" Nino asked, instictively understanding Adrien's incomplete confession. He trembled slightly as he restrained the searing flame of his anger.
"Not . . . Not all the time . . . It's been worse since . . . you know."
"You never told me it had gotten worse. I assumed your father would spend more time with you after the therapist scolded him." Kagami kept careful control of her tone, her displeasure a burning cold.
". . . He took me out of therapy."
"What!?"
"Said people were asking too many questions. That it damaged the Agreste name . . . Or rather, Nathalie said for him but what's the difference at this point, I never see him anyway. This week was my last session."
"He's dead!"
Adrien glanced between Kagami and Nino, who stared at each other with startled looks. He chuckled at them and covered his mouth to smother his growing laughter.
Nino's brow furrowed in worry. "Uh, is he okay?"
"He gets mood swings," Kagami explained.
"Oh. Is it usually . . . this . . ."
"Sudden? No, but our simultaneous heartfelt loyalty is apparently very amusing."
"S-sorry!" Adrien took deep, slow breaths to calm himself. The emotional whiplash leaving him . . . disoriented. "So, I was Chat Noir."
Nino blinked at the apparent non sequitur. "R-right! Um . . ." A mess of emotions flew across Nino's face: guilt, sorrow, regret, anger . . . determination.
"Thank you. For always being there. For getting back up no matter how many times you're knocked down. For being so . . . self-sacrificing. Thank you, for inspiring me, for being . . . Chat Noir!"
Shame filled Adrien as an old memory resurfaced. "I . . . the Bubbler . . ."
"What, am I supposed to be mad my bro wanted to party?" Nino smiled softly. "Nah, dude."
Adrien wiped at his eyes as he returned the smile. "Sh-should've told you months ago . . ."
". . . How did you know he died?" Both boys turned toward Kagami in surprise. "Adrien never said he'd died."
Nino fidgeted nervously. "Uh, we'll . . . M. Dupain was the last akuma anyone saw Chat Noir at and, uh, from what Alya's managed to drag out of Marinette it seemed, you know, obvious dude."
Plus, Carapace would get a more detailed account from Ladybug and it'd be easy to put the pieces together . . . Please, don't think too hard about it!
Kagami gazed intently at Nino for a moment before she nodded. "I'm glad Adrien has someone else to confide in," she smiled.
"Don't talk about me like I'm not here," Adrien grumbled, masking his relief. "And I have Plagg."
"Plagg is busy and unpredictable."
"Who's Plagg?" Nino asked.
"The Black Cat kwami," Kagami replied.
"Isn't he with Panthera?" Nino looked at Adrien.
He shrugged. "Yeah, but Plagg isn't big on following rules."
"That's an understatement," Kagami muttered.
"Oh." Nino gazed at Adrien.
"Nino?"
"Yeah?"
"About your kwami . . ."
"Wayzz? The little dude's right here! Did you want to meet hi-"
"He's not invited."
"What? But . . . I . . ."
"I don't know him."
"He's my friend, bro!"
"I know. But he's not my friend."
"Adrien-"
"Please."
". . . Okay."
Adrien glanced at Nino's backpack. He could faintly hear music coming from what he assumed was Nino's headphones as they weren't around his friend's neck at the moment . . . Given a kwami's small size he wondered if Wayzz would be able to hear anything for a while.
I should probably explain why I didn't want Wayzz here . . . Later.
"-how are we going to keep this a secret from your nosy girlfriend?" Kagami's question refocused Adrien's attention on the present.
"Alya isn't nosy, dude!"
"From your curious and persistent girlfriend, then"
"Better. And I have no clue."
". . . We could tell her about my death. Leave Chat Noir out of it."
"That's good of you bro, but it doesn't explain why you're not talking to Marinette . . . Oh. Oh."
Adrien's lips twitched. "Just figuring it out now?"
"I was a bit distracted!"
"He has a point Adrien," Kagami said. "Telling Alya a half-truth is a stop gap measure. Especially when the other half is about Marinette."
". . . What if I . . . started talking to her again? . . . Marinette, I mean."
Kagami and Nino exchanged glances. "Are you sure you're ready for that, bro?"
"It's taken you this long to open up to Nino."
Nino nodded.
"Yeah, but now I have you backing me up in there," he told Nino. "You're a big help, Kagami, but you're not in the same class as us."
As much as you want to protect me, you can only do so much if I don't tell you about the three (and a half) superheroes I sit next to.
"Besides, I'm not going to tell Marinette everything. I'm just going to talk to her. 'Hello, how are you?' You know, baby steps."
And maybe have a long overdue conversation with my former partner. Not that she'll realize that  . . .
Adrien felt his heart accelerate at the thought of speaking to Ladybug again. Their last talk hadn't gone so well.
"Or we could, and I'm just spit-balling here dudes, tell Alya everything?"
"No. We are not telling the aspiring intrepid reporter about Adrien!"
Nino bristled in indignation. "Alya would never betray Adrien's trust like that!"
"Regardless, it's a risk we don't have to take and-"
"Kagami. We talked about this," Adrien interrupted.
She blinked for a bit as she remembered what he meant. "Sorry . . ."
Adrien nodded. Kagami wasn't supposed to speak for him unless he was really out of it. "Nino's right, Alya would never do that."
"See, dude? Now all we gotta do is-"
"Nino. Kagami has a point, too. It's a risk. One I'm not going to take." Adrien gave him a pointed look.
Rena Rouge is very close to Ladybug, Carapace.
Nino caught his meaning. "Yeah, okay bro."
"Right. Nino will provide Alya with the non-superhero version of the story when she inevitably deman- asks for the details of your conversations with Adrien. Meanwhile, Adrien will forestall any of her questions by initiating small talk with Marinette . . . Adrien?"
"It's been five months. I think it's about time I tried, at least."
Nino gave him twin thumbs up. "I'll be there for you, bro."
"Good. So, are we going to discuss Gabriel Agreste risking your mental health because of a few paparazzi!?"
Nino's eyes widened. "Didn't think of it like that! What're you gonna do?"
"I'd prefer not to." Adrien told Kagami as he pulled out a business card. "And I've got it covered."
"Your therapist?" Kagami asked.
"Yup. I have this, a bodyguard-chauffeur who won't sell me out, a caretaker who doesn't watch me very closely, and an allowance that'll cover all the expenses."
Nino whistled. "Must be some allowance."
"It's actually quite stringent by our standards," Kagami commented. "Impressive planning, though."
Adrien rubbed the back of his neck. "Thanks."
Nino slumped suddenly with his head thrown back.
"Nino?"
"My best friend was Chat Noir."
Adrien raised an eyebrow.
Well my best friend is Carapace!
"You're not going into shock again are you?"
"C'mere!" Nino grabbed Adrien's head and cradled it to his chest, running his fingers through the blond's locks.
". . . Stop that." Adrien made no move to pull away.
Kagami sat still for a moment. "Didn't see that coming."
"Ha, ha. Very funny." Without moving his head Adrien reached back and pulled her into a second group hug.
Kagami relaxed her posture as he shifted to accommodate her. Nino removed his glasses so they wouldn't get squished again. Adrien set aside his worries about Alya, his father, Ladybug, and focused on this moment.
Surrounded by friends.

________________________________________________________________
"Maybe it's contemporary art"
You pointed at the destroyed painting on the floor which made Mal stare at you in disbelief. Ok, maybe now wasn't the best time for light hearted jokes.
Thus, it was probably better not to say anything about the curtains being all torn up since no one took notice of them...
Ben's castle was not very different from the rest of Auradon: dead silent and a wicked atmosphere hovered in the air. Well, it was until everyone started searching for the king.
Everyone was calling for Ben but that made absolutely no sense, you thought. If Audrey had gone to the castle, she'd have turned Ben to stone or something, making impossible for him to answer. All the noise would just draw her attention, if she didn't already know you were there which was very likely, by the way.
Really, why couldn't she set Ben's clothes on fire, break his favorite clock, shave his eyebrows? It'd have been so much easier to deal with.
Humans always had to make everything more difficult, hadn't they?
You had gone through the whole the castle and found no one and also Dude had lost the track of Ben's scent, the best option now would be to go back to Auradon Prep since it was the last place Audrey was seen at. But of course Mal wasn't entirely convinced that the castle was empty and you were checking the last room left: it was a large hall full of coats of arms, vitrals and armors.
Why were there so many armors? Questionable decorating choice, if someone asked you. And unless Ben was hiding inside one of them, he wasn't there either. Coming to Ben's castle had been a completely waste of time.
"Hey!" someone called you, way too over-excited. "We weren't properly introduced yet, I'm Gil"
The muscular boy extended his hand smiling widely at you. You shook his hand, presenting yourself.
"Are you a princess?" he asked. While Harry called you a princess with disdain, Gil appeared to be genuily interested in you, then again, he was fascinated by everything in Auradon, from the leaves on the trees to the berries in the bushes.
"I am" you answered him.
It seemed to be physically impossible, but his smile grew even bigger than before.
"I've never met a princess before. Your highness" he bowed and then looked at you with gleaming eyes "Have I done it right?"
Gil looked very proud of himself and it broke your heart. It was infuriating to think how many wonderful kids were stuck and forgotten on that Isle. For 20 years no one thought or cared about them, even now most people believed that the Isle's inehabitants were dangerous and past redemption. You dared King Beast to look in Gil's eyes and say he was a criminal who deserved to be punished for the rest of his life.
"Yes, you did. But you don't have to do it, really." you said and he nodded in agreement. Ok, you decided, out of Uma's friends Gil was your favorite.
All you wanted to do was to find Audrey and go back home, but what was an already difficult task in itself was getting even harder because of Uma and Mal incessant bickering. You tried to ignore when Mal said she wandered what fried octopus tasted like. One thing that never entered humans' head was that mermaids and fishes were friends, one day you were hanging out with a squid or a crab and suddenly they were fished and eaten by some unfeeling human. Sebastian still had nightmares about the time he got trapped inside your uncle's...
Oh, wait. Did that armor just move?
Shit.
Everyone noticed it too, excepting Uma and Mal because they were too distracted fighting with each other.
"Girls!" Harry yelled "We have a situation here". You wished you had a phone to take a picture of Uma's face at this moment. She looked outraged by the audacity of Harry to cut her off.
At least now everyone was completely aware of that all the armors in that cursed place were moving towards you and ready to cut you all into tiny pieces. Drawing back wasn't even an option since you were completely surrounded, the only chance you had to get out of this mess would be to fight.
WHY WERE THERE SO MANY ARMORS? If you survived this, you'd have a long talk to Ben about interior design.
Good thing everyone was optimistic about defeating them because, by your account, you were way outnumbered... not that Uma and Mal seemed to care since they were quarreling again. Evie was the one who got fed up with all the nonsense and stepped in and, while she tried to talk them into their senses again, you took the comb from your hair, ready to make it assume its true form. If Fairy Godmother didn't have a rule against magic... or weapons being unnecessarialy used, you wouldn't even bother changing your trident into a hair comb. You looked super badass carrying your trident around like the bitching sea queen you were...
Would be....
Whatever...
"Will you really brush your hair now, princess?"
That.
Mocking.
Tone.
Again.
You could either punch him right now or wait for an enchanted knight to do it.... but you had a better idea.
                                                     --------------
It was official, you hated the human world and the ridiculous armors they used as house decoration. If Belle and the Beast (did he even have a name or his name was really Beast? Whatever...) hadn't decide that every single corner of that castle needed to have a knight's suit, you wouldn't have had to be dodging swords attacks coming from every single angle that you could think of. It didn't matter how hard or fast you hit them or that they were too heavy to react because they were enchanted. They could be slow to strike, but they neither got tired nor hurt, so you could attack them as much as you wanted and it didn't make any difference, you were just scratching the metal. They were many and you were only 8, this wasn't a fair battle, at all
"We need magic to defeat those things" you shouted to Mal while hitting a knight right in his chest, he stumbled a little but regained his balance fast enough. At the same time that you avoided another hit, you caught a glimpse of Harry who was close to you and unaware of the armor approachinh him from behind.
C'mon Harry, turn around...
Gosh, you had to do everything.
The knight striked again, but you avoided the blow. Taking this as a cue, you ran towards Harry and, as you did so, you managed to knock down the armor that was ready to attack the pirate. The sound of metal hitting the floor made the boy turn his head, he saw the armour laying on the floor and gave you a surprised look; either the boy didn't expect you were able to fight or he didn't expect that you would put yourself at risk to help him.
"You can thank me later" you said already attacking another hellish knight.
Thank goodness Mal had heard you and decided to use her magic against the cursed armors and before you could blink, the knights stopped moving and fell in the middle of the room.
It was about time.
Everyone was celebrating the victory, there were no more Uma's crew or Mal's gang, all of them were friends and, well... it ended as fast as it started. In one second they were cheering and laughing and in the other they rememrebed they didn't like each other. The friendliness lasted two seconds, it was a new record.
Both gangs walked away from each other, Uma and her pirates stood on one side, and Mal and the VKs stood on the other. Celia and you decided to stay away watching them from afar.
Evie, who seemed determined to make everyone to get along, proposed an icebreaker and it took all your willpower to not to laugh at your friends' faces upon hearing this. You have never heard so many groans or seen people looking away so fast in your life: Uma was probably deliberating all the choices she did in her life and looked like she could use a drink, or five, while Gil was just confused. Carlos and Jay were clearly unconfortable and would prefer to sleep forever than to go through this, and the only reason Mal didn't shut Evie down right at the spot was because she dind't want to hurt the girl's feelings. And Harry...
It was a surprise to you when he didn't come up with some ironic comment. Actually, he looked rather astonished when Evie complimented him and it appeared he was about to reply her before Uma cut him off.
And then she and Mal restarted their usual bickering.
Maybe the icebreaker wasn't a bad idea, after all.
"Summer School?" Harry laughed "No wonders she wants revenge".
Not that you'd ever say it out loud, but the pirate had a valid point.
Finally, they decided on following Uma's initial plan to the joy of the sea witch's daughter. Apparently, Audrey was still in Auradon Prep, so the girls would go and check her room for clues, and the boys would look out for Ben.
Everyone was ready to leave, but before the team split you spoke up.
"Actually, I'm going with the guys, ok?"
"Why?" Mal questioned you, raising an eyebrow.
"Because if Audrey shows up it's better that at least one person knows how to use magic" you explained.
"No, the amber is the only thing that can defeat her, you wouldn't stand a chance" Mal was clearly annoyed that you were holding them back, but you ignored the whay she glared at you and went on.
"Even so, I may be able to hold her off with my trident. You, Uma and Evie got brains, strenght and magic. Jay, Carlos, Gil and Harry, on the other hand...."
Your eyes lingered on the boys in front of you who, you knew for a fact, would kill each other in the first opportunity.
"Too edgy" you pointed to Jay.
"Too pure" and Carlos.
"Too bubbly" Gil.
"Too..." you looked Harry up and down and shrugged "Honestly? I can't even describe him."
Mal went silence for a moment, deliberating whay you had said, while everyone else was staring at you with a look you knew too well. It was the famous "I can't believe she actually said that" face.
"Fine, you proved your point" Mal finally declared and the ofended look on Jay's face almost made you laugh. You'd have to apolize to him later... But right now you had a king to find before Mal snapped at you again.
You and the guys left the castle and followed Dude, who had detected Ben's scent.
"I'm not edgy" said Jay with a pout, looking too adorable to be taken seriously.
 "Didn't you almost break your arm trying to learn R.O.A.R just for the sake of beating Chad? Or what about that time when you got into a fight with a guy twice your size because he said the only reason you won the tourney game was because everybody on the other team was scared to come near a villain kid? " you asked him.
"Hey! You were encouraging me!" he reminded you, laughing about the incident.
"I was not" you denied, putting your hand on your chest in a mocking manner "How dare you to suggest I'd ever do something like that". You tried to make a serious face, but broke into a smile in a matter of seconds as you remembered that day.  "Did we punch him, though? I can't recall".
"No, Carlos stopped us... he is too pure" the VK teased, and Carlos didn't take it kindly. As he passed by the both of you, he hit Jay's arm hard enough to make his friend yelp.
"Come back here, Carlos" Jay called and ran after him "I was only joking".
"How do you do that?" it was Gil who asked and he seemed utterly puzzled by your trident.
"Oh, it's magic." you said while Gil observed with narrowed eyes you place the enchanted comb in your hair, the boy was staring so intensively at it that looked like he was wainting for the comb to burst into flames or something "It's no big deal, really"
"Yeah, you're probably used by it, right? But we don't have magic on the Isle..."  he looked down, ashamed of being impressed by something that was so ordinary to you, and you felt terrible. You didn't mean to upset him.
"Oh no, I mean... I just never really thought about it..." you tried to explain.
"Of course you didn't, why do people in Auradon would think how their lives are perfect?" Harry, who had been oddly quiet, spoke. However, if he were expecting you to ague with him, he'd be disappointed. The pirate could get on your nerves but you couldn't be a hypocrite and deny all the privileges you had just because you were born on the "right" side of the barrier.
Of course Harry didn't know that was how you felt about the barrier and took the lack of a response as an confirmation.
"How nice it must be to have everything, huh?" he tried to sound cynical, but you could hear the hurt and bitterness in his voice.
"King Triton has a trident too, you know." Gil said absently, ignoring completely the tension between Harry and you "It was on the Isle two years ago, we almost got it"
"Yeah I know. I nearly killed my cousin when I discovered she messed up with grandpa's trident" you remembered like it was yesterday. Your cousin Arabella decided she wanted to prove her worth by summoing a storm using your grandfather's magical trident. If this wasn't reckless enough, she also lost the trident that ended up on the Isle. Thanks to Mal and her gang the trident was recoreved before your grandfather noticed it was gone.
What a day.
"Wait, your grandfather? Are you...?" Gil's eyes widened when he realized who you were.
"Yeap, King's Triton granddaughter, that's me." you finished his sentence, very  proud of being who you were.
"Then you are a mermaid!" the blond boy's eyes moved to your legs and he frowned at them, as if he couldn't understand what they were doing there "If you are a mermaid, where is your fishtail?"
You chuckled and explained. It wasn't the first time someone asked you that, but you didn't mind. Actually, everytime you had the chance to brag about being a mermaid, you did it.
"When I need to be on land I turn into a human"
"Uma is Ursula's daughter, did you know that?" it amazed you how Gil was capable of saying anything in such a light manner. Most people would be very cautious about speaking of the former villain of someone's family in their presence but not Gil, he definitely didn't mind bringing the subject up.
If you knew that Uma was the sea witch's daughter? IF YOU KNEW THAT. You have been talking about this girl for years and, in the past months, you literally hid her in your room. YOU DID KNEW THAT.
This was what you really wanted to say, but instead you laughed it off "I think I've heard her name a few times".
"Is it his trident?" it was Harry the one making a question now and, for the first time, he seemed genuinely curious and not just being sarcastic or cunning.
"Oh no... it was a gift from him, actually. It's not as powerful as his, though. But it's good enough" one thing that never ever bothered you was to talk about your life as a mermaid. If someone ever decided to write a tale about you, people would stop thinking that every mermaids' wish was to become human.
You just loved being a mermaid and nothing would ever change that.
"What can it do?" he inquired, taking a closer look at the comb in your hair. He was wondering about the damage that could cause, no doubt.
"It can control water, for the most part. But is also good to beat the shit out of my enemies"
He smiled.
Harry Hook had sincerely smiled at you.
Maybe people were right, maybe you were born on the Isle and were switched at birth with some kid from Auradon. It would explain your talent for befriending villain kids.
You have never made friends easily, better saying, people didn't want to be friends with you because of your reputation of being temperamental and moody, which wasn't entirely true. You just didn't care about being on the spotlight or doing what people expected you to do. Did you have to to sing along with woodland creatures just because you were a princess? Your area of expertise was marine life, for crying out loud. Squirrels and mice freaked you out! Once, a guy asked you on a date and thought it would be a good idea to go to a sea food restaurant!
You weren't moody, humans were the ones who had the emotional range of a barnacle.
Also, a lot of people in Auradon were too self-absorbed, they thought everyone had a lovely happy life like them. Everytime you brought the Isle up they said you were overreacting and that it couldn't be that bad. You wondered if they could see the black clouds that covered the place or if they even remembered that all Auradon's leftovers were sent there.
You tried to be patiente but sometimes -well, most of times- you could not help yourself and ended up speaking your mind. At least from now on, you could claim that you have never cursed anyone out of spite.
Thanks, Audrey.
"If we're getting to know each other, I have a question for you" you said to Harry who arched an eyebrow, curious about what you were going to say "Is your accent real?"
He blinked in confusion, not sure if he had heard you right.
"Yes! What kind of question is that?" he was perplexed by what you asked. Harry wasn't used to people commenting on his accent and the times someone had said something about it, it was always to make fun of him - and Harry always made sure they learned not to do it again. So, he didn't know if you were serious or simply mocking him.
"I don't know. I believed you were being dramatic, to be honest. The eyeliner, the coat... The accent could very well be part of your pirate aesthetic" You didn't want to sound rude or anything, you honestly imagined the accent was only him being theatrical, but since he didn't answer right away (not even a ironic remark), you added quickly "It's a lovely accent, it suits you".
At first, you expected him to shut you down or tell you to fuck off. However, as he didn't reply anything, you thought you really had offended the boy. You were ready to apologize (you could be the sea bitch, but you weren't rude...). Instead, he bursted into laughter and you frowned, not understanding what was so funny to make Harry Hook laugh like that.
That boy was completely unpredictable.
"It's not an aesthetic, lass. I'm a pirate" it was the first time since you met that Harry seemed so amused and it wasn't at someone's expanses. "Why did you think this?"
"Well, you do walk around carrying a hook" you pointed to the sharp object he kept holding since the moment you laid your eyes on him.
"And who are you to judge?  You have a magical trident in your hair."
It was your turn to laugh, maybe Harry wasn't that bad.
"Fair enough, I can't argue against it" you agreed with him,
Upon hearing your words, his mouth twisted into a smug grin...
"I knew you would warm up to me, princess"
Yeah, you took back what you thought seconds before, Harry Hook was insufferable. You huffed in annoyance and walked away from him and his pompous attitude.
Humans were never worth the stress

6 Year Anniversary and Coral’s Character Profile
Hi there! Sorry for not being very active on here, life’s just been very hectic at the moment adjusting to university life, but I promise that I’m still working on content, I just don’t have a great deal of free time, so it’s a slow process. But now that I’m more settled I should be able to get into a proper writing routine. Fingers crossed!
But anyway, the reason I’m making this post is because around six years ago I made my fanfic account and posted my first chapter of my first story and ever since then I’ve just fallen in love with writing more and more. I’ve loved being able to hone my craft and improve and evolve my characters as I’ve grown up. It’s so crazy to think that I’ve been doing this for so long and that I’m still hanging around! I didn’t have much time to prepare anything for this milestone and I wouldn’t have known what to do anyway, so I thought that now would be as good a time as any to post the character profile I’ve been working on for Coral since she was created, along with my account, all those years ago.
I got the questions for this OC character profile thing from my wonderful friend @foreveralwaysanauthor , who wrote similar profiles for her characters Makana and Xander, so be sure to check those out along with her stories! But here’s my profile for Caroline “Coral” Samantha Cole! I hope you like it!
Appearance: obviously, including any quirks, how do they carry themself, average clothing
Tanned complexion, freckles across nose and cheeks, blue eyes, cute dimples, curly golden hair, great curvy body, kind of on the short side, bright smile, most often carries herself with confidence, wears a lot of bright colours, shorts, playsuits and summer dresses but likes to take fashion risks and isn't afraid to draw some attention by wearing something out there
Preferences:
Sexuality: because of the time she lives in I don't think that she'd ever act on any feelings she didn't think would be accepted by others, because at the core of everything that's all she really ever wants, but if it really came down to it and she was able to explore her feelings freely I think she'd come to realise that she's bisexual
Favourite food: the banana bread pudding her mom makes
Favourite colour: aqua blue, or gold, if she was really going to indulge herself
Favourite animal: dogs, especially puppies
Favourite weather: sunny
Favourite season: summer
Favourite time of day: she's rarely up to see it, but she loves sunrise, when the stars start to disappear and the sun streaks the sky with all the pretty colours
Favourite music: she's open to anything as long as she can sing along, but she does love a show tune
Foods that they will/will not eat: she's really not picky so she'll try anything, unless it involves tuna
Religion: she wasn't brought up in a particularly religious family, they celebrate christmas, but in more of a commercial way, so she doesn't really have much of an opinion on religion
Political Beliefs: again, not super political, she just thinks everyone should be able to be treated equally
Hogwarts House: Slytherin, hands down.
Personality: calm, rude, oblivious, introspective, stubborn, etc
She was practically born a drama queen and her enthusiasm can be a little overbearing at times but she's got a big heart and is a total softie if you get to know her enough for her to trust you. She's fiercely loyal, almost to a fault, and pretty stubborn if she gets something set in her mind. Speaking of getting something set in her mind, she's super determined; if she has a goal and won't let anything stand in her way. She's no stranger to jealousy, although she'd never admit it, and has a wild temper if the wrong thing sets her off, but she feels every emotion so intensely that sometimes they just get the better of her, which can be both a great and terrible thing.
Family:
Who are their parents? Jacqueline and Brett Cole
What is their relationship with their parents? She's really close to her parents. Yes, she can get a little feisty sometimes and isn't a stranger to getting argumentative if she thinks something is unfair or if they're getting on her ass about something, but they raised her in a supportive, loving home and their guidance earned them her total respect. They're firm but fair when they need to be and she certainly keeps them on their toes, but they're always there if she needs them to be, whether it's to offer a shoulder to cry on, provide some much-needed advice or just to have a good laugh and cheer her up.
Do they have siblings? She has a twin brother, Thomas "Tanner" Cole
What is that relationship like? Being a twin is the only thing she's known, especially because she's the younger of the two twenty three minutes (something that Tanner likes to remind her of constantly), so she's had someone to goof around with from the second she left the womb. They may share a birthday down to the hour, but Tanner still like to exercise his big brother status from time to time, even though he knows deep down that Coral has enough fire in her belly to handle any threat far better than he could. They don't have a secret twin language and they don't have a telepathic twin connection, but they are incredibly close. They don't always see eye to eye on things, but they feel everything in a very similar way and they can read each other really well, so it's pretty difficult to keep secrets from one another. They were inseparable from birth, pulling faces to make each other laugh and taking their toys on grand expeditions along the beach from the minute they could walk and talk and as they grew older their bond, despite their differences, only grew stronger. As with all siblings, there were days when they annoyed the crap out of each other and couldn't stand to be in the same room unless they were pulling hair and yelling threats, but the anger never hung around for long. All it would take would be one joke or one dumb look and they'd be back to the being the best of friends. They're there for each other no matter what having someone around who understands you and what you're going through completely all the time is incredibly convenient.
Family Life:
What was it like for them growing up? She had a great childhood. A lot of her time was spent outside, either playing with her brother or her friends (often both together), and the rest was spent at dance and acting classes. She loved being a part of school plays and dance recitals and would practise in the living room every night after dinner. She loved the bedtime stories that her dad would read her and her brother every night and some of her fondest memories are of when she would play dress-up with her mom on Saturday mornings. Her parents always made time for her and Tanner and they certainly didn't go short of love, laughter or attention when they were kids. It was as idyllic as an all-American family could have hoped to have been really.
Are there things that affect them in their present state from their childhood? One memory that stands out, in particular, was when her mom and aunt took her to see a play at the local theatre. From the second that she saw the lady in the glittery dress parading around the stage, singing and dancing as the crowd whooped and hollered, she was hooked. She knew she wanted to be like her one day, up on that stage in front of an adoring crowd. And then they got their first television set, where she could see these actresses from the comfort of her own home and her life was changed yet again. She'd sit gazing at the people flickering on the screen for hours, even after her parents told her that it would rot her brain. She simply didn't care, she was too fascinated to look away. All she knew was that she wanted to be in that black and white box like them one day.
What was their discipline like as a child? Coral's always had a feisty side, even from a young age, so she's no stranger to trouble. But she's never been inherently bad and would never be malicious unless provoked, so a good telling off and a grounding was usually all it took to keep her in line.
Were they rich, poor or somewhere in between? Somewhere in between, if not slightly on the richer side. They didn't have heaps and heaps of money, but they lived pretty comfortably and their house was one of the nicest amongst her friends, which meant that it was usually the go-to house for hangouts (something Tanner and Coral loved).
Cultural History: does this affect the character, do they have cultural traditions that they follow
Not necessarily. Their grandmother is Hawaiian and they take yearly trips there to visit family and immerse themselves in the culture but not a great deal of that is incorporated into their everyday life. That doesn't mean that they don't love the traditions they do take part in when they're there though; the luaus are one of the best things they do all year.
Flaws: every character should have a flaw (maybe they are really caring, but it leads to them being too trusting and getting manipulated; maybe they are super smart, but they have a hard time connecting to people as a result; etc)
Coral has an almost obscene list of flaws, as most human beings do. She's stubborn and argumentative. She's feisty and brash and overbearing. She's a total drama queen, she's naive, she's vain, she's driven to a fault, she's overly emotional, she's flaky if uninterested, she falls in love too easily, she takes everything very personally (not ideal if she wants to be an actress) and she has a terrible temper. But I'm sure that there is more that I just can't think of at the moment. She's a bit of a hot mess, but she owns it.
Blank Spots: everyone has a bit of ‘basic knowledge’ that they somehow missed or misunderstood (it happens for everyone), what is the character’s ‘blank spot’
She thought that limes were just lemons that weren't ripe yet for longer than she'd care to admit.
Wants: what does the character want most, what do those around the character want for them
This is an easy answer that everyone around her knows the answer to. She wants to be a star. Well, she wants to be an actress, but ultimately all she really wants is stardom and she won't let anyone get in the way of that.
Needs: what does the character actually need (this can be different from the wants, and often should be for character growth; however, the character growth can happen even if the wants and needs are the same by having the course of events be contrary to the characters expectations)
She needs to get a strong head on her shoulders. She needs some guidance and maturity before being let loose in the world and she needs the right support behind her. But most of all, she needs love. She needs to feel loved and she needs to have a connection with someone where she can open her heart and embrace her vulnerability instead of hiding it away.
Fears: what is the character afraid of? both literally and existentially
Failure to achieve her dreams, disappointing her family, being alone, being ridiculed, spiders and clumps of hair in drains
How do they handle:
Disappointment - If she's disappointed in herself then she'll really beat herself up about it, but if someone else is disappointed in her then it'll absolutely crush her and she'll get super upset
Anger - Not very well at all; she's got a pretty bad temper and it rears its head more than it should. She's not afraid to fight for something she believes in and isn't one to back down from an argument easily. It also takes her a while to calm back down too.
Embarrassment - If she's acting she doesn't get embarrassed at all. But if it's just Coral and something embarrassing happens to her then it's crippling. She's so image-conscious and self-absorbed that if there's a possibility that something could taint that then she won't be able to let it go until she's fixed it.
Attraction - She's a total flirt and will happily play into any interest that is directed her way, but playing coy is as far as it goes with her; she's never been one to make the first move and feels much more comfortable using her alluring nature to attract attention rather than seeking out suitors herself.
Betrayal - Loyalty is a huge deal for Coral and she's very protective of those close to her. She places massive amounts of trust in her friends and they often reciprocate that, so betrayal is a massive issue for her and it's really difficult for her to cope with. She is quick to turn on someone and it's very hard for them to regain that trust if they've lost it.
Fight or flight - In most situations she's not afraid to fight, but if she feels really overwhelmed and out of her comfort zone then she switches to flight mode and bolts.
Money - Luckily, money was never an issue for her when she was growing up. But all the time she's spent flipping through magazines full of celebrities and the lavish lives they lead has left her with quite an expensive taste.
Lack of sleep - She just gets a little cranky and snappy. She's not much of a coffee drinker, but if it helps her get through the day or makes her seem a little more sophisticated then she'll stomach it to give herself a boost.
Alcohol - It makes her really giggly at first but then she loses all her inhibitions and moves into the frame of mind where she thinks everything is a good idea. Soon she hits a wall though and either crashes back to the reality of sobriety or spirals into a black-out, drunken mess. No matter what though, she's a tipsy disaster when she drinks.
Injustice - She's not afraid to stand up for what she thinks is right and will fight for justice if she truly believes that something is unfair, no matter what anyone else says. She'll always trust her gut instinct.
Mental illness - It's not something that she's had to deal with at this point in her life, but as she struggles with issues later on in her life I think it will be difficult for her to cope with due to how much she allows her emotions to impact her.
Grief - Again, she's a super emotional person and allows her feelings to deeply affect her, so grief is really overwhelming. She doesn't shut herself away, but sometimes the pain becomes so great that she can't comprehend or articulate what she's feeling anymore, to herself or to others.
Exercise - She's never been super sporty in the traditional sense, but she's been dancing since she was three and has taken up cheerleading in high school, not to mention all the surfing she does in her free time.
Defining moment:  is the character’s defining moment going to happen to them during the story or has it already happened (characters can have more than one defining moment)
Coral hasn't had a defining moment yet in the story, but there is one pretty major one coming up within the next few chapters, which impacts the lives of many of the characters, so keep your eyes peeled for that. She'll have quite a few distinct, defining moments in the story though that all shift her life onto different paths. So things are about to take a turn for her!
How do/would they feel about:
Glitter - Loves it! Duh!
Ferris Wheels - They're pretty fun, especially at the top when you can look out and see for miles around.
Camping - She does like being outdoors, but sleeping on the ground with bugs and no satin pillowcase is not really her jam.
Coffee - Thinks it tastes gross but makes you look sophisticated, so she'll make the sacrifice if she's feeling particularly tired.
Crispy or floppy bacon - crispy; floppy bacon weirds her out
Mushrooms - pretty indifferent, she doesn't hate them but she doesn't love them either
Twilight books/movies - A teen movie about vampires? Not really her sort of thing...unless she could be in it.
Guns - She's pretty against them all; she just doesn't understand why anyone would feel the need to possess such a dangerous weapon. But we'll see how that opinion holds up as the story progresses...
Extras:
Do they have a signature smile? - Of course, she's been practising her smile for the paparazzi for years!
Do they have a tell when they lie? - Nope, she's an actress and is a master when it comes to lying convincingly; if she has to convince a whole audience that she's a totally different person then she should surely be able to keep up a little lie.
Do they have any nervous tics? - She gnaws on the inside skin of her lip.
Do they speak loudly, softly or average volume? - A little on the loud side; she wants to be heard, she loves the attention.
What is their quality of voice? - She's got a bright, clear voice when speaking but if she opens it to sing then the real power is unleashed.
Do they gesture when they talk? - All the time, she's super expressive when she talks and is always using her hands to exaggerate things.
Do they have a good understanding of personal space? - Most of the time, but if you're one of her best friends then she's much more likely to invade it.
How do they greet other people? - Usually with a 'hey' or a 'hi' and one of her megawatt smiles
How do they say goodbye? - Probably just by saying 'bye' or 'see ya' or maybe just waving, unless she's pissed at you, in which case you'd be lucky if she even looked at you, same goes for greeting people
Is there anything that they always have with them/on them? - She always has a hair tie and tons of perfume on. You can always count on her to have mints too.
Do they remember faces or names better? - Faces, she's hopeless with names unless they're important to her.
What does the character admire most in others? - Loyalty, ambition and kindness
Pet peeves - Loud chewers, people standing too close in lines and people who don't cover their mouth when they cough or sneeze
What grosses them out? - Not washing your hands after using the bathroom and when her boy friends scratch their balls and shove their hands in each others faces.

More About me/Views/Etc.
Hello everyone~! This post will explain more about me, my views, and anything I flnd important to add. This will be kinda long so please buckle up ;3
General Information
Age: 19
Gender: Demifluidflux trans guy
Pronouns: He/him, they/them is cool too
Sexual orientations: Gay, Demisexual
Romantic orientations: Gay, Demiromantic
Alterous Orientation: Homoalterous
Other: Polyamorous
Relationship status: Taken
I love anime, video games, drawing, singing, and just browsing the web. I like to learn new topics, and explore new ideas and sciences. I want to be a therapist someday, but if it doesn’t happen, that’s chill too. I’m polyamorous currently in a monoamorous relationship. I don’t usually participate in discourse but I do have opinions/views on different topics. I am mentally ill and prefer not to be attacked. If I do something wrong or say something offensive, I don’t mean it, or I’m simply uneducated on the topic when I thought I was. I’m happy to take polite criticsm and never mean to do harm to others. So nothing I say is ill-intended.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Views on certain discourse topics
Aspec Discourse: I believe that aromantics and asexuals are inherently LGBTQ+ and should be welcomed. However, it’s up to them if they choose to identify with LGBTQ+ or not.
Nonbinary discourse. Yes there are more than two genders. And no it doesn’t mean “Neither male or female” Nonbinary means: “Not explicitly a single binary gender” Which can mean someone can be both binary genders, one binary gender and other nonbinary genders, no binary gender, etc etc. So yes. I CAN be a guy and nonbinary.
Xenogenders: I may not be able to comprehend it 100% But I KNOW that gender is diverse and confusing and you can label your gender however you want. Just be you! You have my support.
Nonbinary Gays/Nonbinary lesbians: YES nonbinary people can be gay or lesbian. Many of them are nonbinary women or men. Meaning they identify with womanhood/manhood no matter how that is. Maybe they have a primarily woman or man gender, maybe they’re man/woman aligned. Whatever. You do not get to dictate who is gay enough or lesbian enough :)
(NO)MAPS: Are scum. Do not interact, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.If you support them then get the f**k off my blog please! I am a CSA survivor and will NOT tolerate pedophilia.
Am I a transmed/truscum? Am a tucute?: Well, no. I’m none of those. I do not believe dysphoria is required to be trans. As many studies show gender incongruence is all you need, dysphoria manifests in some trans people as a result of incongruence. Gender euphoria also exists. This is not a topic I would like to debate. However, I do believe that dysphoria or incongruence should be medicalized in SOME form in order for trans people to be able to get gender affirming treatments. (Hormones, surgeries). I would love to live in a world where those things are free regardless, however :/ (P.S. I am dysphoric)
Kink/BDSM: Well. I participate in BDSM and kink, but I do not post about it or discuss on my blog. I have spaces for that and this isn’t one of them. So no worries about running into any kinky posts on my blog. That wont happen. If it ever does, it was an accident.
Transtrenders: I DO believe that RARELY, some cis people will pretend to be trans, not necessarily as a “trend” but to gain something in return, usually online. They may use it as an excuse to chase other trans people, or to have more “power” in a trans based argument. However, when people are accused of being trenders, they are usually not, they are just not what YOU feel gender should be. And people who fear they’re trenders? Impossible. You would know if you were faking.
Self Diagnosis: I’m divided on this. You shouldn’t self diagnose many things. Like a heart condition, or cancer, or other extremes. But if you know you’re depressed all the time and can’t see a therapist, you probably have depression. If you haven’t been diagnosed with PTSD but experienced something trauamtic and show symptoms of PTSD, You probably have PTSD. If you were confirmed to likely have a certain mental illness but perhaps didn’t fit the “age requirements” for said diagnosis, you can probably take that as an unofficial diagnosis. As long as aren’t flaunting it to seem “cool” (and most don’t) and are using those self dx’s to find help resources online and such, you’re probably good.
Fujoshis: Touchy topic I know. I do not agree when this word is used in specific contexts.
1) when girls think MLM relationships are “hot/sinful/sexy/dirty” , especially IRL MLM relationships, I think that’s fetishization, much like how many cishet men view WLW relationships  2) when it’s directed as a hate word towards gay trans men. I’ve been called a fujoshi for being a gay trans guy, and many of you probably have to. It’s wrong y’all. Gay trans men are gay men. Gay nonbinary men are gay men.
Pansexual vs. Bisexual: Both are valid labels. All multisexual labels are valid. Labels are for you to feel comfortable with, and as long as you aren’t choosing one over the other due to biphobia/internilized homophobia, you’re probably good. Bisexual attracted to all genders? Valid. Pansexual with preferences? valid. Bisexual attracted to many genders? Valid. Pansexual and feeling attraction regardless of gender? Valid. Bisexual and identify the same way? Valid!
Genital preference: Another touchy topic! The sad truth is that genitals DO matter to many people. Maybe it’s from truama, or an actual repulsion to a genital set. However, it should never EVER be used to excuse transphobia. You can not want to date a trans person who is pre-op, that’s fine, your loss not theirs. However, you cannot use that genital preference to see them as lesser, or as not “real” men/women. I personally have a preference for penises, but it’s only a preference. I would still potentially date a trans guy who is pre-op or never-op, but I prefer penises. But as I’m also gay, I likely wouldn’t date a trans woman who is pre-op/no-op. Because well, she’s a woman. So to summarize, genital preferences are OK as long as you aren’t a dick about it, or transphobic. :)
Trans people and gender conformity: Alrighty. This is a favorite topic of mine. Do trans people owe gender conformity? Do nonbinary people OWE people androgyny? Nope. Cisgender people are gender-nonconforming all the time without dysphoria. We see butch cis women and Fem cis dudes all the time. So I say, why do trans men and women owe something different? While it is true that early in transition being GNC CAN cause dysphoria, that isn’t always the case. Early in transition I usually avoided feminine things and interests unless I was in the comfort of my home, but now I’m open to, and embrace my feminine and androgynous side. I’m in no way a woman, I just happen to enjoy some stereotypical feminine things. Many trans men do. As for nonbinary people, they can present however they want. Androgynous, feminine, masculine, fluid presentation, mixing it up, genderf**k, whatever. Their body, their choice. Sometimes you may be able to “tell” someone is nonbinary by looking at them, and that’s totally okay. There is no “looking nonbinary”. All looks on a nonbinary person are nonbinary.
Anti/Anti-Anti?: Honestly I’m still confused in all of that stuff. Fiction CAN and HAS affected reality. That’s not to say that you can’t enjoy certain thinsg seen as “taboo” but there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed. PEDOPHILIA. You should not write, nor consume, fiction that presents a CHILD with an ADULT. It’s true that some pedophiles will write these to bring minors in and harass them. Even then, it gives stories for those sick f**ks to read. Do you REALLY want a pedophile reading your story? I guess I’m anti-ish. You can enjoy things that are otherwise problematic as long as you don’t let it affect how you treat people in the real world. Maybe you liked reading that fictional story about kidnapping and got off to it or something weird like that, as long as you aren’t trying to kidnap anyone or shit like that, I guess you do you, keep it to yourself though.
“NB” - Nonbinary or Non-black?: I went with POC voices on this. I will no longer use “NB” to mean nonbinary on my blog. You will likely just see “nonbinary” or “enby” used by me.
Aspec, autistic spectrum or Asexual/aromantic spectrum?: I’ve seen very little evidence or claim on the side of “autistic spectrum” being the term. Many responses ive seen and sources claim it means asexual/aromantic spectrum, and has even been echoed by autistic people, a lot of them. If I see evidence suggetsing otherwise, I’m happy to change my language. I don’t want to be ableist.
Butch/Femme, lesbian terms only?: I say no. I’ve seen a lot of articles, personal accounts, and history on the use of butch and femme. And none suggest they were terms only used by lesbians. From what I can tell, this idea seemed to be spread by “radical” lesbians and TERF’s. In history, many lesbians tried to distance themselves from all men, and encouraged non-lesbian women not to associate with men. This is obviously just a small tidbit of what they did in that time. However, I personally don’t use butch or femme, and don’t really plan to.
Specifically “weird” or crazy seeming kinks/BDSM styles: All I say is, you do you. If all parties are adults and consent to it, good on you. Just, keep it to yourself or in spaces dedicated to those things. As long as you don’t get off to ACTUAL CHILDREN, or try to bone or jerk it to an animal, you’re probably okay. Also don’t do incest, that stuff is bad.
!!If there’s a discourse topic you’d like to see here, you can PM me or send me an ask. I’m happy to shed my opinions on stuff, but they will go here!!
via Politics – FiveThirtyEight
Welcome to a weekly collaboration between FiveThirtyEight and ABC News. With 5,000 people seemingly thinking about challenging President Trump in 2020 — Democrats and even some Republicans — we’re keeping tabs on the field as it develops. Each week, we’ll run through what the potential candidates are up to — who’s getting closer to officially jumping in the ring and who’s getting further away.
Former Texas congressman and Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke officially entered the presidential race on Thursday. But with every big-name Democrat to get in the race — the field is now more than a dozen Democrats strong — the prospect of a contested convention gets all the more real.
That’s because the Democratic Party changed its nominating rules over the controversial role superdelegates played in Hillary Clinton’s nomination in 2016. Now, only pledged delegates will vote on the first ballot at the national convention in Milwaukee next July — not superdelegates. The Democratic National Committee’s rule change was meant to prevent superdelegates from casting the deciding vote in the first round of voting, but with so many candidates in the race, superdelegates could still play an outsized role. If the results of the primaries and caucuses spread pledged delegates too thin and no one candidate has a majority, it means superdelegates could still swing the nomination when they cast their preference in a second ballot vote. So in this case, O’Rourke’s relatively late entry into the field, and perhaps that of former Vice President Joe Biden soon, may not be good for the party unless some Democratic challengers drop out or a clear front-runner emerges long before next July.
Here’s the weekly candidate roundup:
Mar. 8-14, 2019
Stacey Abrams (D) After first appearing to set aside any immediate presidential ambitions at South by Southwest, Abrams said on Twitter on Monday that “2020 is definitely on the table.”
During an appearance in Austin, Texas, over the weekend, Abrams told the crowd: “In the spreadsheet with all the jobs I wanted to do, 2028 would be the earliest I would be ready to stand for president because I would have done the work I thought necessary to be effective in that job.” Later, Abrams’s former campaign manager pushed back against the idea that Abrams had ruled out a 2020 run, saying in a tweet that Abrams was “taking a look at all options on the table for 2020 and beyond.”
Abrams later explained that her comments at South by Southwest were related to goals she had set for herself earlier in her life but that the circumstances had changed.
Michael Bennet (D) The Colorado senator said last Friday in New Hampshire that he is still a few weeks away from a decision, but he was forceful in a rebuke of President Trump at a Concord house party, calling it a “tragedy” he was elected.
The former Denver schools superintendent previewed where his priorities would lie as the nation’s chief executive. “If I ever made it to the end of this process, I guarantee you there will not have been a president who’s focused more on education,” he said, according to WMUR.
Joe Biden (D) The former vice president dropped perhaps his most obvious hint about his presidential ambitions during a speech to the International Association of Fire Fighters legislative conference Tuesday when he asked those in attendance to save their “energy” because he “may need it in a few weeks.”
At least one source close to Biden told ABC News that he has yet to reach a final decision, but those with knowledge of his thought process have told ABC News that he is “90 percent there” as far as joining the race.
Cory Booker (D) The New Jersey senator offered a critique of the U.S.’s criminal justice system during an interview on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” last Friday. “One of my friends says we have a criminal justice system that treats you better if you’re rich and guilty than if you’re poor and innocent,” Booker said. “And there are people from neighborhoods like mine in America, who get convictions for doing things that two of the last three presidents admitted to doing. We are a nation right that that churns into our criminal justice system the most vulnerable people.”
On Friday, Booker campaigns in New Hampshire, with stops in Upper Valley and Claremont, before continuing on to Iowa, where he will visit Des Moines, Ottumwa and Indianola on Saturday and Ames, Waterloo and Davenport on Sunday.
Steve Bullock (D) WMUR reported Monday that later this month, the Montana governor will make his first trip to New Hampshire this year; he will meet with Democratic Party activists and attend a fundraiser, as well as a reception for Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
Pete Buttigieg (D) Buttigieg received a lot of attention this week for his performance at a CNN town hall at South by Southwest, particularly for an answer in which he addressed the character of Vice President Mike Pence, who formerly served as governor of Buttigieg’s home state of Indiana.
The mayor of South Bend said he was not certain Pence would make a better president than Trump, asking rhetorically: “How could he allow himself to become the cheerleader for the porn star presidency? Is it that he stopped believing in scripture when he started believing Donald Trump?”
In the 24 hours that followed the event, Buttigieg raised $600,000, the largest single day of fundraising for the mayor since he launched his presidential exploratory committee, according to an aide to Buttigieg.
Julian Castro (D) Castro targeted fellow Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders during a CNN town hall event at South by Southwest, questioning the explanation that the Vermont senator recently gave for his opposition to paying reparations to the descendants of slaves. On “The View” earlier this month, Sanders said that he thinks there are better ways to address the issue than “simply writing out a check.”
At South by Southwest, Castro said: “It’s interesting to me that when it comes to Medicare-for-all, health care … the response there has been we need to write a big check, that when it comes to tuition-free or debt-free college, the answer has been we need to write a big check.” And so if the issue is compensating the descendants of slaves, I don’t think that the argument about writing a big check ought to be the argument that you make if you’re making an argument that a big check needs to be written for a whole bunch of other stuff.”
Castro said that if he were elected president, he would establish a group to study the idea of reparations.
Bill de Blasio (D) The New York City mayor will visit New Hampshire this weekend, making stops in Manchester and Claremont, the birthplace of his mother-in-law.
John Delaney (D) Delaney used his appearance at a CNN town hall Sunday to discuss his blue-collar roots, reminiscing about “a time when we had institutions in our society that really supported people,” including his father’s union which provided him with a scholarship to attend college.
During the town hall, the former Maryland congressman outlined his ideas for the nation’s health care system, including a government-run program that Americans could choose to opt-out of; for education, including free community college; and the environment, which he would address by pushing for a carbon tax.
Delaney visits Iowa this weekend with a stop in Churdan on Friday; Fort Dodge, Waterloo and Mason City on Saturday; and Charles City and Decorah on Sunday.
Tulsi Gabbard (D) Gabbard continues to face questions over her personal opinion of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. During a CNN town hall, she refused to say whether she believed Assad was a war criminal and continued to argue on “The Late Show” against U.S. intervention to overthrow regimes such as his.
The Hawaii congresswoman said on CNN that she believes evidence should continue to be gathered and if it points to war crimes, Assad “should be prosecuted as such.” But she was careful with the language she used to describe the Syrian president on “The Late Show,” characterizing him as a “potential adversary” and saying that her 2017 trip to Syria to meet with him was made in the “pursuit of peace and security.”
Kirsten Gillibrand (D) Politico reported on Monday that an aide to the New York senator resigned last summer after a sexual harassment complaint went unaddressed — contrasting with Gillibrand’s publicly forceful advocacy for victims of such misconduct.
The staffer about whom the complaint was made kept his job until Politico presented its reporting to Gillibrand’s office last month, culminating in his dismissal in early March.
Gillibrand defended the actions of her office, telling reporters that it “take[s] these kinds of allegations very seriously” and maintaining in a statement that when such claims of harassment arise, “we must believe women so that serious investigations can actually take place, we can learn the facts, and there can be appropriate accountability.”
“That’s exactly what happened at every step of this case last year,” she continued.
Gillibrand travels to New Hampshire Friday for events in Portsmouth, Merrimack and finally Manchester, where she will participate in an MSNBC town hall on Monday. Next, Gillibrand will visit Iowa on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, with stops in Dubuque, Davenport, Muscatine, Burlington, Ottumwa and Des Moines.
Kamala Harris (D) Harris voiced her support for California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s decision to impose a statewide moratorium on the death penalty, characterizing capital punishment as “immoral, discriminatory, ineffective, and a gross misuse of taxpayer dollars.”
“The symbol of our justice system is a woman with a blindfold. It is supposed to treat all equally, but the application of the death penalty — a final and irreversible punishment — has been proven to be unequally applied,” Harris said. “Black and Latino defendants are far more likely to be executed than their white counterparts. Poor defendants without a team of lawyers are far more likely to enter death row than those with strong representation. Your race or your bank account shouldn’t determine your sentence.”
During a visit to South Carolina last weekend, Harris detailed her plan for a middle class tax cut, including credits for families earning less than $100,000 per year, paid for by a repeal of the recently implemented tax reform plan backed by President Trump.
John Hickenlooper (D) In a Medium post on Tuesday, Hickenlooper wrote that he “may be a capitalist” but was “sure not a Trump capitalist,” criticizing the president for letting “corporations and the wealthy run wild.”
He later said on NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” that being called a capitalist in the current political environment was akin to being labeled a “nerd” in high school, but his background as the successful owner of a chain of brewpubs made it “hard to argue with.”
Next Wednesday, Hickenlooper will participate in a CNN town hall in Atlanta.
Larry Hogan (R) On Tuesday, the Maryland governor told ABC News’ “Powerhouse Politics” podcast that he has still not ruled out a Republican primary challenge of Trump and is “excited” for an upcoming trip to New Hampshire for a “Politics and Eggs” breakfast.
Hogan acknowledged that Trump still has a strong base of support among Republicans, but said with regard to his own plans that “if things were to change, and things do have a way of changing in this volatile environment that we’re in, then all bets are off.”
Jay Inslee (D) Inslee called for an end to the Senate filibuster during an MSNBC interview on Tuesday, labeling it “a vestige of an Antebellum era” that would prevent action on his priority: climate change.
“This is absolutely necessary if we’re going to defeat this beast,” he said, “It is time to shake up D.C., and one of the ways to shake it up is to end the filibuster and have majority rule like Americans deserve. Only then can we fight climate change, and that’s job number one to get this thing done.”
Inslee will visit New Hampshire this weekend for events in Bedford, Exeter and Durham.
Amy Klobuchar (D) At South by Southwest last weekend, the Minnesota senator joked about an anecdote included in a New York Times report last month on her treatment of her staff, saying that her choice to use a comb to eat a salad on an airplane after an aide forgot a fork was her “sort of doing a mom thing” and a MacGyver move.”
She did not engage in speculation during the interview about whether the coverage of her interactions with her staff constituted sexism, but did use the appearance to decry the less-than-four-year prison sentence given to former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort last week (Manafort was sentenced to additional time this week in a separate case).
“You can’t have two systems of justice, one for the rich and powerful and one for everyone else,” she said.
Klobuchar visits Iowa this weekend for stops in Waterloo, Dubuque and Independence on Saturday, and Cedar Rapids and Davenport on Sunday.
Seth Moulton (D) The Massachusetts congressman, who is reportedly still considering a presidential run, argued for the abolishment of both the Electoral College and the Senate filibuster in a Washington Post op-ed on Tuesday, writing that such changes were necessary to ensure every vote in the country counts.
Beto O’Rourke (D) O’Rourke’s long-awaited announcement arrived on Thursday morning when the former Texas congressman revealed that he was entering the race.
“This is a defining moment of truth for this country and for every single one of us,” O’Rourke said in his announcement video. “The challenges that we face right now; the interconnected crises in our economy, our democracy and our climate have never been greater.”
O’Rourke is spending his first weekend as an official candidate in Iowa. After stops in Burlington and Muscatine on Thursday, he visits Mount Pleasant and Cedar Rapids on Friday, then North Liberty, Waterloo and Dubuque on Saturday.
Tim Ryan (D) During an event in Akron, Ohio, on Monday, Ryan said that he is “looking very, very closely” at a presidential run and that Sen. Sherrod Brown’s decision not to enter the race led him to examine the possibility more closely.
“I felt like Sherrod was talking about the issues many of us were concerned about,” the Ohio congressman said, adding that his own decision would come in the next few weeks.
Bernie Sanders (D) During a Senate Budget Committee hearing Wednesday, Sanders probed the acting director of the Office of Management and Budget over Trump’s recently revealed 2020 budget proposal, asking “how many thousands … will die because of massive cuts to Medicare and Medicaid?” Democrats as a whole have criticized the Trump administration for the budget’s $845 million reduction in Medicare spending over the next 10 years.
One of Sanders’ campaign staffers apologized for a comment she made on a Facebook thread in which she asked whether the “American-Jewish community has a dual allegiance to the state of Israel,” similar to language used by Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar. The staffer, Sanders’ national deputy press secretary, told Politico the language was “insensitive” and that such a discussion should occur “with greater care and sensitivity to their historical resonance.”
Sanders will hold a rally in Henderson, Nevada, on Saturday
Howard Schultz (I) Though he continues to face criticism from Democrats who view his potential independent presidential campaign as helpful to Trump’s reelection chances, the former Starbucks CEO himself took aim at Trump during an event in Miami on Wednesday, decrying Trump’s national emergency declaration to secure funds for his proposed southern border wall.
Schultz said that as president, he would “restore the presidency to the proper position as one of three branches of government” and would refuse to sign any legislation that does not have bipartisan support.
A Washington Post story Wednesday examined Schultz’s upbringing and “rags-to-riches” story, interviewing residents of the Brooklyn housing project where he grew up who characterized it as middle-class as opposed to the “poor” and “low income” community Schultz discussed at recent events.
Eric Swalwell (D) While Swalwell himself has yet to say whether he will run for president, he predicted on MSNBC on Monday that “Donald Trump is not going to be the president in 2021.”
Swalwell made some other “news” too: After a San Jose Mercury News story revealed the California congressman dyed his hair in his youth, Swalwell joked on Twitter that “all of us make bad decisions in high school. Sometimes those decisions involve bleach.”
Elizabeth Warren (D) Last weekend, Warren unveiled a proposal to break up large technology companies, such as Amazon, Google and Facebook. She argued that unregulated mergers where decreasing competition in the industry.
“Today’s big tech companies have too much power — too much power over our economy, our society, and our democracy,” Warren said in a statement. “They’ve bulldozed competition, used our private information for profit, and tilted the playing field against everyone else.”
The Massachusetts senator visits neighboring New Hampshire on Friday for events in Salem and Exeter, then takes a southern swing to Memphis on Sunday; Jackson, Mississippi, on Monday for a CNN town hall; and Selma and Birmingham, Alabama, on Tuesday.
Andrew Yang (D) Yang announced this week that he’s surpassed the 65,000 donor threshold necessary to earn a spot in the first Democratic primary debate. Provided the number of candidates who reach the threshold does not surpass 20 — at which point candidates would then be winnowed by poll performance — Yang will become the first Democratic non-politician to earn a spot in a presidential primary debate since Al Sharpton in 2004.
Congratulations, KAY! You’ve been accepted for the role of PORTIA with an FC change to TIFFANY MEIA. Admin Rosey: *chants with you* PANDORA PANDORA PANDORA PANDORA! So one thing I absolutely adore when getting applications is when the names of the characters are dissected. But at the end of it, you had tacked on something I found very interesting -- “Pandora will always be a gift given away.”  And with that you suckered me in so easily that I couldn’t help but love and adore the interpretation of Pandora that you presented on a silver platter. You made her charming, you made her someone I admire and adore. You added such humanity to her when I expected her to be a mechanical thing. Kay, I can’t wait for you to join the family and let Pandora bring her ambition to light! Please read over the checklist and send in your blog within 24 hours.
WELCOME TO THE MOB.
Out of Character
Alias | Kay
Age | 24 soon to be 25 and I can hear the grim reaper calling my name.
Preferred Pronouns | She/her/hers
Activity Level | I’m currently in school and in another group, but with that being said I’m online practically every day. I can get on to plot every day and post a reply or two at least every other day!
Timezone | EST
Current/Past RP Accounts | Here is my current blog!
In Character
Character | Portia, Pandora Phan. If possible, I’d like to switch her FC to Tiffany Meia!
Pandora, origin: Greek, meaning “All-gift” Just as her namesake before her, Pandora will always be a gift to be given away.
Phan, origin: Vietnamese, meaning unknown
What drew you to this character? | Is it cliche to say the first line in her bio? Because the first line had me hooked right away. “The sense of wonderment that others had as children was lost on Pandora Phan.” She was never a girl that worried herself with fantasies, always looking at the reality of things and analyzing how and why things are. She didn’t concern herself with the fantasies and lies parents would tell their children, and instead wanted to know the truth, the bottom line of it all. To me, Pandora is this girl who might come off as soft and pretty to some, but she’s really a girl with hard edges and a razor blade tongue. Every word that comes out of her mouth is very deliberate, calculated to maximize the impact they’ll have.
What is a future plot idea you have in mind for the character? |
a. Mother, may I speak now? Pandora spent her formative years having her voice fall on her parent’s deaf ears. So while she doesn’t speak unless she truly wants to, she makes her voice heard above all others. She’s someone that will use her voice to get what wants when she wants and she doesn’t care who she has to step on to be heard. And with that, comes enemies even within her own affiliation. Are there members that want to see her fail? What will she do to prevent that from happening? Who does she think she is?
b. Did the pressure weed you out? Odin is an ever-present figure in her life and it bothers her that she doesn’t know why. He’s one of the few people that can truly match her word for word, cut for cut and it makes her worry. She wants to know why he’s putting up a front of helping her when they’re on opposite sides. Will she listen to his words? Will she actually believe them? What steps will she take to make sure she doesn’t toe the line and fall into his trap? Who exactly does Odin think she is? I’d love to answer all of these!
c. Do you sleep anymore? Obviously, being a captain for the Montagues is sometimes she takes pride in. Pandora is someone whose work ethic is feared above all else; she’s known for being a cold and calculating woman in the gang. But she wants more. She spends her nights figuring out ways to claw her way to the top so she can be the one laughing at the end of the day. Just what, or who, is Pandora willing to risk on her way to the top? Will she survive long enough to be the queen that takes the king?
Are you comfortable with killing off your character? | As the Tralfamadorians say, so it goes.
In Depth
In-Character Interview:
What is your favorite place in Verona?
Personal questions always rubbed Pandora the wrong way. Why people wanted to know such intimate things about others was lost on her. Some things were better left tucked away in the back of her heart. And yet, she found her lips parting before she realized what was happening. “Castelvecchio Bridge.” The faintest of smiles grace her lips as memories flood her mind. She remembers her childhood spent there, legs dangling over the edge. She remembers her teen years, smoking too many cigarettes and drinking too much wine on a blanket by the water’s edge. She remembers her adulthood, escaping her parent’s meetings to catch a glimpse of the swans floating by. “There’s something beautiful about the water in the middle of a war, don’t you agree?”
What does your typical day look like?
“I wake up and I go to work.” A memory of blood strewn across a table flashes in her mind. How unfortunate that the last collection she went on ended with her getting dirty. That poor silk blouse is worthless to her now. But, she didn’t ascend to her position without getting some blood on her hands. She glances at the underside of her nails, checking for any residual blood she missed the first three times she had scrubbed them. “I enjoy the view from the office then I go home to my fiancé. I have a simple life, really.” She swallows the bile creeping up her throat. Pandora has tried everything in her power to make her life anything but simple. Her typical day is filled with cutting remarks and blades pressed to skin, with sweet nothings and knives pressed into others backs. The only view she enjoys is the sight of someone realizing just how dangerous she is.
What has been your biggest mistake thus far?
Mistakes were never something Pandora took pride in. Sure, she looked at them as lessons, something that taught her how to properly do something in case the situation ever rose again. But, she hated the process. She would berate herself in private for doing something so foolish, so dumb, so immature. Pandora Phan the Captain was anything but those things. On the other hand, Pandora Phan the Child was not. “When I was at university I fell for an artist. I ignored everyone’s advice and she broke my heart. How naive I was at that age.” A wave of the hand shows that’s all she’s willing to say about it. She’s handing the interviewer a nugget of truth. A tiny kernel of the story without telling him the ending of it. A broken heart never did any girl any good, now did it?
What has been the most difficult task asked of you?
The word engagement burns her tongue and she has to fight to keep it down. She never signed up for the arrangement her parents made between the two families - she never had a choice in the first place. Their engagement had been just another business transaction in the grand scheme of things, a handful of signatures that sealed their shared power for the future. But playing the pretty fiancée was getting old. Their engagement was beginning to bore her and felt more like a sentence than an agreement. Sharp nails tap the desk between the two, fighting for seconds to come up with a reasonable answer. “Does this interview count?” Her head tilts to one side, the corners of her lips turning upwards as she spoke. “I have other things that require my attention instead of sitting here playing this silly game with you.”
What are your thoughts on the war between the Capulets and the Montagues?
Actual war was never something that interested her, but the benefits that came from it did. With every war came those who profited from it and Pandora was one of those. Because of their war, she was able to escape from a dull life to something more stimulating. She had a chance to be more than a little girl with chaos in her name. “The war went on for hundreds of years before me and will continue for hundreds of years after me.” It’s an answer devoid of any actual meaning, meant to distract the poor man sitting across from her. The interview might be required by her boss, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t have a little fun with it. “Lions do not concern themselves with the opinions of their cubs, so my thoughts are nothing but wasted breath to my superiors.”
Extras:
Right here is a mock blog for her, here is an insta edit for her, and I am a sucker for headcanons so here is a mile long list of them.
Drugs might not be one of her vices, but caffeine and cigarettes definitely are. More often than not she can be found with either a cup of coffee or a cigarette, or both, in her hands.
Panda is really good at card tricks. As a bored teenager, she learned various card tricks to fill her time with. Just picture a teen Panda running around Verona scamming people outside of bodegas because she knows how to slip a card between her fingers.
Her main weapon might be her words, but very few know about the pocket knife she carries on her at all times. It might be old fashioned, but she prefers her weapon to cut in a similar way to her words.
She’s a sucker for poetry, with her favorites being Charles Bukowski and Pablo Neruda. The way that they form their poems and prose is something that she was always interested in replicating.
Panda is in love with learning languages. She’s fluent in French, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and is learning German.
She has a degree in linguistics and classics!
She spent some time traveling as a form of rebellion but thanks to that, she found the Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. After a trip to Munich to fill up on nothing besides beer and pretzels, she visited the castle on a whim and fell in love with it.
As someone who doesn’t speak often, she has a very expressive face. I picture her looking into the camera like Jim on The Office whenever something goes wrong.
She reads the New York Times every day and does the crossword in pen.
I didn’t make a playlist for her, but I listened to a lot of Citizen and Joji to really get a feel for her. ‘Slow Dancing In The Dark’ by Joji and ‘Roam The Room’ by Citizen are the two songs that really gave me Pandora vibes. I also wanted to thank you for letting me reserve Pandora! I wasn’t sure I was going to finish her app in time but here we are, submitting right before the deadline lmao.
Launched in 2011 by the Massive Media Company, Twoo is one of the world’s largest chat sites. Ever since its inception, Twoo has become a strong contender in the social apps sphere. People sign up to Twoo for various reasons, including creating friendships and finding potential matches.
Although the Twoo app does not feature match-making capabilities, it uses an algorithm that connects its users to the best match in their interests and location. Available in 38 languages and serving over 50 million members, it has made a name for itself in every part of the world.
But is the Twoo chat site everything that it claims to be? Well, keep reading this Twoo review to find out whether this site is worthwhile.
Twoo Dating Site
Combines traditional dating site and modern chat site features, meaning that users can enjoy the best of both worlds
Diverse site that is available in over 200 worldwide countries and is represented in over 38 languages
Easy sign-up process as Twoo can pull information from your Facebook account
Strict verification process and requirements
A great place to widen social networks
Users are too general and do not declare the kind of relationship that they are looking for upfront. Therefore, you may end up investing your feelings in someone who is merely looking for friendship
Incomplete profiles are not visible to others
Search options are limited unless you purchase credits
After signing up for Twoo, I found that the site had more male (60%) than female (40%) members. Granted, this difference is significant, but it also means that women are spoilt for choice when it comes to potential partners.
Over two million members come from the USA, and these are most of the members on the platform. However, other members come from countries like Brazil, Belgium, Mexico, Spain, Italy, and Argentina.
What was most refreshing was that the site had a high activity level any time I logged in. While you will find a 20-year old as well as a 65-year old here, the younger demographic certainly dominates the site.
Sign Up Process
3/5
Signing up for a Twoo account involved using a valid email address or my Facebook account. It was easy for me to use Facebook because the site automatically copies all the information from your Facebook account.
But if you do not choose the Facebook option, you must provide information on your gender, age, and purpose of joining the site. After that, you will confirm your email address, and the site will send you on to many potential dates and friendships.
Oh, did I mention that Twoo welcomes you with 50 bonus credits? Don’t take these for granted because the credits will be useful in accessing certain premium features. Signing up is this easy!
Contacting others on Twoo is a matter of using basic and advanced search filters, the chat feature, or sending likes and super likes. It is important to note that Twoo does not provide match options for its members. However, it allows you to create connections out of your own volition.
Let’s start with the search filters; here, you type in the name or location of the person you want to find, and their profile will appear. You then tap on their profile to send a message. There is also a chat feature that will enable you to strike up a conversation.
This is how I sent messages:
However, when I did not want to send Twoo messages, I clicked on the “like” option for those who caught my fancy and the “Super like” option for those who blew my mind, if you know what I mean. They would send a like or two back, and the conversation would start from there.
Profile
3/5
Tumblr media
The profiles on Twoo are rather typical. There is really nothing outstanding about them. They only come with basic information such as your age, gender, and a summary of your activities on the site.
Some questions appear at random parts of your profile, and as you answer these questions, the information you give will be added to your profile. Do not take these questions lightly, as the answers determine your interaction on the site.
After all, you are looking to partner up with someone who has similar interests. I found it best to be as honest as possible.
This is a snippet of my Twoo profile:
I found that I could edit my profile at any given time, as the profile information is not permanent. You can edit to your heart’s content. The profile also includes a verified photo that you upload from your device or imported from your Facebook account. Remember, the most stunning photos get the best attention.
Mobile App
4/5
You can download Twoo for Android or iPhone on the Google Play Store or Apple Store. The app is completely free for all users to download.
Using the app was such a joy because of the convenience that it brings. I could access the app no matter where I was. There were no lags whatsoever as I was using the app. It was smooth sailing from download to sign in.
Even better is the fact that the Twoo app works on all mobile phone browsers.
Membership Options
3/5
While you can use your free account to navigate and interact on Twoo, it does not give you access to all the site’s features. Therefore, you will be missing out on the complete chatting experience.
As Twoo offers its premium membership in weekly and monthly variations, you can decide on the pricing that suits you best.
Other than paying in cash, you can also exchange premium packages for credits. With credits, you will rank highly in search results. You choose what works best for you!
Twoo is a great dating platform that introduces new approaches to online dating.
As the site focuses on chatting rather than creating matches, members can get invested in the process and get to know each other for who they are, not because the site says they may belong together.
This is a great option for those who have the time and are interested in nurturing a friendship or relationship.
THE VENTURE ANIMAL
Even people who hate you for it believe it. Day only account for a number of startups any one acquirer could assimilate, but if we raise a couple million dollars from a VC firm, you tend to view support calls as a pain in the future will probably look something like this about their opinions. That isn't happening this time, and runtime. It's obvious why investors delay. If you try to write about something that hasn't been written about the causes of failure, you succeed—and that's too big, it can be interesting if you get a call from a VP there asking if we'd like to license it. Is there some quality that's unique to hackers? The wartime versions were much more cynical. Maybe not. I'm skeptical whether economic inequality was lower, was to assimilate what they knew. New For both Confucius and Socrates, people seem to miss most is the lack of movement between companies introduced more competition in salaries.
There's an initial period of slow or no growth while the startup tries to figure out how we use the word essays in the title of a book. Often they have to be developed in. Maybe it would be misleading to say that is, you can get the most out of them, but more for the programmers. I'm still not always sure I'm giving the right advice. Practically every really big startup could say, five years later. I'm uncomfortably aware that this is changing. It's true, certainly, but the fact that they act less than independently. Otherwise you're probably just postponing the problem, but that's a rational response to their comments, because customers are used to that sort of narrow focus can be. An essay has to come to your country.
At big companies, and they were wondering what to call it a lie. And because they were ambivalent about being in business at all; many companies can buy you for $10 million, even though you don't think about the upper limit on what you like. They have so far, out of the way right now. If all you have to choose cofounders and how hard you have to change your product. I don't think it's a good sign when you get rich is to start startups during college, but only a few months before they die where although they have a deal; so there must be a hacker's language, like the speed limiters in U-Haul trucks, prevent fools from doing too much damage. And so you tend to be forced to. Unfortunately there are a couple tests adults use. This helps counteract the rule that gets beaten into our heads as children: that things are the way they used to, they were less dangerous than caving in to them. The people are the most extreme form of fluff. Some say wisdom and intelligence diverge. 2 founder, where n could be set by the deal you make with the first that comes into your head.
The bad news is that the project is all your own. But at this stage, all most investors expect is a brief description of what happens in college. The spread of tablets makes it possible to build new things controlled by and even incorporating them. So our official policy now is only to fund undergrads we can't talk out of it. So was the Apple I when Woz first started working on it. Nor is there anything new, except the names and places, and so on. No one doubts this process is: you're trying to measure. Sites like del. Mikey likes it.
Big companies also don't pay people the right way to write software. I've done countless times before in the same category as being a writer or a painter. Most Perl hackers would agree that Perl 5 is more powerful than to make a record. It's not merely true that organizations dislike the idea of making a good product. One of the more subtle ways in which it's wrong. If present-day publishers work hard to judge for yourself and your friends genuinely prefer to Google, you're already several years in each of them. They don't get that there are many popular books on math, few seem good. Once I understood how CRM114 worked, it seemed like a software company. The important part is not answering questions but asking them: the hard part is not answering questions but asking them: the so-called real world this need is a handful of startups have to be careful not to say what kinds of problems are not to be at the very edge of innovation? If this were so, we could quote it to other publications, and claim that with 1000 users we had 20% of the startups we funded were able to give a demo of their live site. They've faced resistance from investors of course. No idea for a startup to be cheap.
John McArtyem. Fixed-size series A rounds later. Yech. The closest you can get away with this example. It was the worst year of my adult life, but it wouldn't be the first investor becomes your asking price. When I did try statistical analysis, I found that what the teacher says. The aphorism you can't tell a book by its cover.
Com, you should probably take the organic route. I didn't realize till very recently, is that Web pages are just good enough. When new mail arrives, it is at least nominally preserved in our present-day thesis defense: most people can't imagine such freedom. We'll continue to be able to compete with ITA and chose to write your first draft the way you usually would, then afterward look at each sentence and ask Is this the way I'd say this if I were a better writer? But as one VC told me after a startup he funded would only take about half a second I found myself talking recently to a startup that's actually doing well, they'll often invest in phase 3. But the non-gullible majority won't stop getting spam. One reason this works so well that we plan to do.
But if I have to pause when I lose my train of thought. There's nothing wrong with that idea. They're far better at detecting bullshit than you are. Professional investors are constantly trading little favors. There are esoteric areas of business that flourishes in certain centers? Or more precisely, preorders has helped a lot. 16804294 what 0. Meetings cost them more. We present to him what has to happen between now and wiring the money, what should one do about html? It's composed of multiple investors with varying degrees of seriousness, ranging from the upstanding ones who commit unequivocally to the jerks who give you lines like come back to the 1960s and 1970s, when it comes down to is users. Unless you're in a panic because your servers are on fire, but the fact that they control Google, which prides itself on sending users on their way to ensure that the company pays 10 times as long? While you're at it, with dramatic results.
Thanks to Rajat Suri, Tad Marko, and Jessica Livingston for smelling so good.
