A rant about TWD S11 and the amount of screen time for different characters
This is a BIG rant, so I'm putting a break here to not annoy anyone who don't want to read it. If you want to read it, there's lots of love for TWD characters and hate for AMC right bellow.
Okay, so I'm seeing a lot of hate to the amount of screen time Eugene/Josh McDermitt had this season. And I would like to point out how this makes me both sad and angry - and how it begins with Eugene but it's not about him.
So, Eugene deserves to be developed as any other character on the show. He's part of TF/main cast. McDermitt's on the show since S5! That's seven years of commitment! And McDermitt always gave us an incredible performance - so much that he had to quit SM on 2018 because he suffered so much online abuse from the fandom who disliked Eugene's arc with the Saviors. He could have left the show altogether but he stayed because he has love for his character and TWD.
But, as said, this is not just about Eugene - it's much deeper than that, I think. It involves all the main characters arcs on S11.
Other talented and marvelous actor who decided to stay with us until the end, dedicated years of his life to TWD and also got his share of online abuse? Seth Gilliam/Father Gabriel. Gabriel's arc was pretty chopped on S11. Remember all of his struggles with his faith on 11 A? It got mostly resolved off screen. And don't even get me started with his relationship with Rosita.
What about Christian Serratos/Rosita and Ross Marquand/Aaron? Fan favorites since their first appearances on S4 and S5. Legitimate TF members and two others main characters left to dry on S11! We've barely saw them!
Aaron's arc begun with him struggling to keep ASZ running, then they got him randomly involved with another weird cult-like group that ended up being Negan's new group because oh yeah he used to work on something like that before the world ended lets use that so GA can see we didn't forget this info about him whatever and now he is stranded in a horde with chances of being killed by a smart walker just, you know, because.
Rosita was supposed to be part of the CW rebel group and fight corruption inside the police force but we never saw that happening! And don't even get me started with her relationship with Gabriel. Yep, I'm repeating the phrase because COME ON!
Ok, GA didn't like their romantic relationship, but at least let us see they properly ending it and being a good example of respectful exes who are still friends and co-parents. TWD IS ABOUT FOUND FAMILY DINAMICS! GIVE US THE DAMN FOUND FAMILY DINAMICS! Oh, with this I also wnat to highlight that we should have seen more Aaron + Gracie and not those what three scenes they gave us in 24 fucking episodes.
My point is: Father Gabriel, Rosita and Aaron deserved to be featured as much as Eugene was this past season. Especially because none of them have spin-offs on the future. These actors had to say goodbye to their characters with only a handful of scenes. Characters they cherish and love, characters they brought to life for years!Seth, Christian and Ross stuck with them (and TWD fandom, a very difficult fandom, by the way) even when they were gifted shit arcs and/or minimum screen time. Most of them got screwed over by the storytelling season after season. McDermitt/Eugene got a few chances to shine on S11 and we are complaining??? We should be complaining about how Gabriel, Aaron and Rosita didn't had the same chances! Not hating on Eugene! They all deserved to be upfront this last season and have really meaningful and deep arcs to reflect their years and journeys. But nope. Sidelined, all of them, Eugene being the exception but mostly on 11C.
Lets now talk about the main MAIN characters of the show, shall we?
Lauren Cohan/Maggie and JDM/Negan got stuck together on a never ending fight for dominance that is STILL not resolved (and bordered on sexual tension. Why? Just..why??)! What's the point of having so much time wasted/dedicated on such angsty and tiring relationship?
I'm sure Lauren would have preferred to explore Maggie's relationship with her son and her found family and to fight to rebuild The Hilltop or face the consequences of being a leader who abandoned their people and came back to find almost all of them dead. We could have seen the motherly love, the undying grief for Hershel/Beth/Glenn, the struggle to reconnect with TF and The Hilltop folk, the urgency to prove herself worthy of the title of leader again. It would be interesting and play with Maggie's layers.
I don't know what JDM would've liked for his character but he must also be tired of Negan's never ending redemption arc. And I have nothing against Annie and the baby thing besides the fact that looks unrealistic as fuck after we saw him begging to Maggie to murder him so he could be with his dead wife on S9 + "Here's Negan" especial episode. Yeah, okay, he burned Lucille twice - wife and bat - on said episode so he got closure. I get that. A new wife and baby on the way off screen? Not so much. Joining a weird group with a rough leader that looks like a cult? Even less. By the way, you guys remember those people? Did they even got a name?
And then, obviously, Caryl. I don't have the energy to discuss anymore how incredibly wrong Caryl were handled this entire season. No energy. Just tired. All the missing opportunities. All the time spent apart. All the incredibly necessary heart-to-heart's that not happened. All the pointless Leah thingy - by the way, every single point of the Reapers arc (Gabriel and the other priest; Pope choosing Maggie because God or a bonfire told him to; Leah trying to recruit Daryl who wanted to save her after she tried to kill him multiple times, only so she could become Maggie nemesis without never seeing her before; everyone that was killed for shock value; Alden's death and its 3 seconds impact; Elijah mourning his sister and then being pushed to be Lydia's new boyfriend because we have to do something with this kid, yada, yada, yada) had no payoff whatsoever.
Anyways..what I'm trying to say is: every OG/main/important character of this fucking show suffered from mediocre storytelling throughout the entirety of S11. All of them.
Even fan favorites newbies got sidelined. Eleanor Matsuura/Yumiko is the only one who had personal reasons to not appear on 11A and 11 B (she had a baby). I'm not a Nadia Hilker/Magna fan but I hate how she was mostly forgotten this season. She's an interesting character and after being missing for most of S10, she got sidelined for S11 too. Angel Theory/Kelly and Cassady McClincy/Lydia are SO TALENTED and loved by everyone and were rewarded, respectively, by becoming a walking translator and an unwilling participant of the 'let's see who unnecessarily loses a limb this season' game.
I could go on and on and on but, again, no energy. And I think I wrote too much already. In short: Eugene is not to blame. Everyone should have had meaningful arcs like Eugene. He deserved every second of it. ALL OF THEM EQUALLY DESERVED IT. All of them characters are special and loved and deserving and should be treated with respect and celebrated after so many years of existence. AMC, Gimple and co. made the decision to waste their (and ours) precious time with Reapers and other groups and characters that I don't remember or weren't even given names, CW stormtroopers, an anti-capitalism narrative that was very important but lasted two episodes, impossible to understand time jumps followed by a creeping pacing also impossible to understand followed by more wtf time jumps, and lots of Carol scenes on the kitchen because obviously that's what we want to see her doing..cooking and baking! Ha!
It's not about the amount of screen time each character got. It's about the non-existent quality of it.
AMC plays dirty, guys, and all of us suffer the consequecences. Even side characters like Diane, who is owned some peace of mind after being a soldier for every fucking battle TPTB invents. If any side character deserves a happy ending is her.
I rest my case.

WTNV quick rundown - 100 - Toast
I'm not lying when I say this episode contains almost if not every single character we've been introduced to thus far.
More rundowns here!
I know many of you have a few things you’d like to say. So let me start things off. Welcome to Night Vale.
This episode's focus is on Cecil and Carlos' wedding, or at least the after ceremony toast section.
The first person to speak is Leonard Burton, ex radio host, ex Cecil's boss and very confused as to why he's 'suddenly' there and apparently making a toast. He has no idea why he's there, but comments that Cecil looks like he hasn't aged a day since he started to work for Leonard.
The FOW also gives a toast, though she mostly talks about herself. She is covered in blood and is able to drink despite not having a mouth. She is allergic to mice, so recommends that people eat them themselves if they want to keep infestations at bay.
Diane's speech is very quick because Josh has a dance recital and grew several extra legs just for the occasion.
John Peters (you know, the farmer?) comments that he believes the whole world is just a manifestation of his inability to believe that nothing actually exists but congrats anyway.
Deb plugs Ritz Crackers in her toast.
Michelle and Maureen give a speech together. Michelle says she guesses that being happy is popular and isn't that upset that she's also happy and therefore like everyone else. She also says she went to a Katy Perry concert where Katy peeled off her own skin, plucked out her heart and batted it towards her backup dancers. Maureen says she's not angry any more and she once tried to be happy when she was 13 but gave up when she noticed everyone was copying her.
Maggie and Donald Penebaker give an almost normal toast except it's still phone like and ends with reminding everyone to pay their electric bills.
Kevin and Lauren also do a toast together, via videolink. Lauren says she wandered dry-lipped and starving through an endless looping desert until finally coming upon Desert Bluffs Too where it was explained to her that Strex is no longer in charge, Kevin is. Kevin mentions how he's been told that they'll all attack him if he tries to come back to NV and that as welcoming as that sounds he's far too busy. He's also obviously gleeful about Lauren's misfortune and new status under him. They then 'smile' which causes mass panic and a cry to turn the video off.
Melony says she's fixed Computer, who prints out a picture of a gift wrapped box. Earl says he made the cake and was happy to do so. Melony says she has no idea who he is, even though he's sitting next to her and Earl says they've been friends for years and came to the wedding together. Given that Melony forgets Cecil whilst talking to him, it's likely Earl is right.
During Tamika's speech we hear Basimah calling out admiringly. Tamika reads a book passage.
Dana and Pamela make a speech together, with Pamela being her usual self and Dana translating it into a 'congratulations'.
They then 'move' because of the weather: "Second Song" by Joseph Fink.
Old Woman Josie tells us that Cecil wasn't good at bowling when he joined their team, but he was so friendly and entertaining that they let him stay and he soon got better at it. She also reveals that the Hall of Public Records has a list of everyone's death dates.
Steve's toast is more like a tradiational toast. He says he loves Cecil and Carlos both and is very happy for them.
Carlos talks about how he finds it hard to talk about his feelings because they're not logical facts, which he understands better. He mentions how he had throat surgery and that's why he sounds different now but his feelings are the same. He says he's glad he made that call for personal reasons.
Cecil sings Carlos' praises and says that everything is better now Carlos is there. He also says that Carlos' love of science is inspiring and also deeply erotic.
Stay tuned next for a drunk, newly married couple, long after all the well-wishers have left, piling up bags of garbage and stacking chairs in a rented banquet hall because they want to get their deposit back.
And good night, Night Vale, and every person who can hear my voice. Good night.
Proverb: "It's always darkest before the dawn, we are often reassured by people who are totally wrong about how the sun works."

Interview From Norman About the Spinoff
@wdway:
I'm trying to get the ET interview of Norman from last night at AMC Up Front event. He talked about the spinoff a lots of things he's already said but he did say this was kind of a reset. He also said it was romantic and use words to describe it like poetic and beautiful. Norman, also Jeffrey and Lauren about their spinoff.
@galadrieljones:
Just watched the interview w Norman. I love how he keeps calling it romantic. I think he means sort of like aesthetically romantic but he says it twice.
He also posted a shot of the Eiffel Tower today on Insta, maybe he’s back in France now?
@twdmusicboxmystery:
Yeah, I noticed that, too.
@wdway:
He starts out with talking about remember the last scene Daryl gets on the bike and rides off and everything goes terrible. I know this is probably silly and maybe just me but I felt like it was a decoy. You guys know that I am hung up on the missing year and I just felt like it was a "don't look over there at that missing year look at what you last see and let me tell you what it is."
Tumblr media
I'm just hung up with something that was said by someone high up a few months ago that we would see a surprising twist at the beginning of the spin-off and I don't think us seeing him being kidnapped is the surprise twist because they keep telling us about it.
His talk of romantic and poetic a course everyone's going to assume that it's going to be romance between him and (sorry cannot think of her name the French actress) which if anything to me that the absolute sign that it will not be between him and her. Why would you give that away.
I love absolutely love when he says it's a reset.
@galadrieljones:
I feel like he says in the interview that the series ends with him “taking off on his bike to look for someone.” Does he say that? I thought that’s what I heard but I didn’t understand like, did we already know that? I will recheck as soon as I can.
I also love the word reset because it implies a dc al coda.
Tumblr media
I think you’re probably onto something with the missing year. It’s an arbitrary amount of time, and it’s weird that he comes back but then he is leaving AGAIN and this time to go find his happy ending, and per his goodbyes to Carol, there seems to be this implication that he might not be back for a long long time. He tells Judith if he finds Rick while he’s gone, he’ll bring him back, right? Implying he’s not looking for Rick. So why is this trip so singular? And where was he before this. Why does he keep leaving.
I had forgotten the mention of the twist. I think it’s interesting how Norman focuses on the aesthetics of the show in his interview to avoid talking about the content or the story, even as we do have a hint from gimple that foreshadowing for the spin-off lies in the WB coda.
I wanted to mention too that amc posted that same throwback with Daryl and Leah on Twitter. Most of the comments are about how they hated the arc because it went nowhere and felt unfinished.
Tumblr media
Just reminded me of what ppl once said about Grady. I know we believe that these arcs feel u finished for a reason. But a lot of ppl do just think tptb likes to drop things for no reason.
I fully believe that if and when they pick back up those unfinished arcs all these same haters will be back in the audience in two seconds.
So it really doesn’t matter what ppl say. It’s like Lori’s actress said, if the writing is good, anything can work, and it will.
@wdway:
In answer to your questions Norman does say he's taking off to look for someone. I believe that is another decoy because most people think he's going to go look for Rick even though he tells Judith that if he finds everything about Rick/ Michonne he'll bring them back which means that isn't his main mission.
Maggie said that they should look (not sure of the wording) for other communities but the scene ends with that so are we to believe that Daryl is leaving everyone plus the kids again after just returning from the "frontier." Judith is totally OK with him leaving after we saw her in s10&11 not telling about why her mother has not returned because she was afraid that Daryl would leave her. Now she ties his leaving with Daryl finding happiness.
Tumblr media
I'm just having a hard time with so few people not questioning Daryl gap year. That we're told repeatedly that Daryl will be kidnapped and wake up in France not knowing where he is and what happened a verrry strong recall to the title of the episode after Coda, What's Happening What's Going On.
Gimple gave us that strange coda at the end of TWB and tied it to Daryl's spin-off and yet tptb doesn't spend much time in reminding us of that fact.
@galadrieljones:
Interesting. Okay I actually took it as a weird (probably planned) slip-up. Anyone actually watching this closely will notice he said that and will also know he’s not actually going out and looking for Rick. Immediately I was confused because I don’t think anyone has ever said before that in the spin-off Daryl is going to look for someone.
To me this would support the theory that while he’s gone during the “lost year,” he discovers something and then he radios back to Judith about it. He talks to her about it and warns her he’s coming home but he’s going to have to leave again because he has to go and try and find THIS PERSON, that he couldn’t live with himself if he didn’t follow up at least, and that it could be the thing that finally brings him peace. Judith would be sad but would ofc understand. She would have some time to come to terms with the fact that he’s going to leave again.
Tumblr media
Maggie’s attitude is weird after the time jump, too. That weird line about like, discovering the outside world or whatever. Maybe Daryl lied to her about where he’s going, because it’s already happened once that somebody told Maggie Beth was alive and then she wasn’t alive. Daryl would never do that to her again. He would lie, and he would tell Judith that she can tell Maggie the truth if she wants to, like he would never ask her to lie, but not until he’s already gone. Because he knows Maggie would insist on coming, and he wants to go alone, and he also has no idea if what he heard or saw will even lead to anything.
I was thinking like maybe he’s lying to everyone. Like Connie thinks he’s just out navigating the wild frontier but in reality he just went back to Atlanta, and he ended up at Grady, and he found something.
Tumblr media
Daryl would totally be the man to keep all that a secret, or to only tell Judith. Maybe he’d tell Carol but Carol can keep a secret. And Carol would understand if Daryl wants to go alone.
I also agree that the use of the word romantic is a decoy to make ppl think he’s going to have a love story with Isabelle. But if you’re paying attn then you know this is unlikely, not only because we know that tptb knows how much another random new love interest would irritate the fan base, but because we have seen “leaked” photos of her that imply she is a nun.
Ofc casual viewers and people who only care about ship wars and what not will get pissed at this and rage share the information just to complain, and this is free PR and exactly what tptb wants.
Because there’s a HUGE fan base that just wants Daryl to be happy. They’re not ride or die Carylers or whatever. They will tune in just to see if there’s a chance Daryl could finally bs happy.
I am suddenly remembering that Morgan will be heading back to Atlanta in the final season of Fear. I would not be surprised if they’re driving the entire narrative back in that direction, ie: going back to the beginning to unlock new information and blaze a new trail forward.
@twdmusicboxmystery:
I hope so! Love all the discussion today!

Instagram Intros (Elvis Presley's Kids)
Tumblr media
Jesse Aaron Presley (@jesspress)
DOB: March 31st 1955 Age: 68 years old Hometown: Memphis, Tennessee Nicknames: Jess Jay, JJ S/O: Catherine Miller Kids: Julia, Daniel, Michael, Lauren, and Elise Best Friend(s): Frankie Boston and Joseph Meeks Aesthetic: Growing up Jesse was never really close with his father. He was always busy doing something or touring or taking his mama out on sparatic dates to every truly raise him. He always wanted to be like him though. Just more family focused. Its hard to get more family focused than Elvis Presley but he tries. When his sister was young and his daddy was off at war he became the man of the house and even when Elvis came back he thought himself above him. He hated when his mama gave so much attention to his daddy and excused him from everything. His daddy tried so hard with him but in the end the closest they’ve ever been was when Jesse was still a baby, before all the fame.
Tumblr media
Magnolia Rose Presley (@maggierose)
DOB: July 17th 1958 Age: 65 years old Hometown: Memphis, Tennessee Nicknames: Maggie, Mags, Nolie S/O: Robert Spencer Kids: Logan and Danielle Best Friend(s): Joyce Mitchell Aesthetic: Magnolia was a free spirit growing up. Loved her daddy to death and always danced along with him behind the curtains. She loved the horses at the ranch and begged her mama to let her ride them with her daddy. She would always chase her daddy around everywhere and run on stage to dance and sing with him and the crowd. Her older brother always looked out for her which she appreciated but it got overbearing. Especially because she had her daddy over her shoulder about boys and dating too.
Tumblr media
Luke Forrest Presley (@lukepresley)
DOB: February 14th 1961 Age: 62 years old Hometown: Memphis,Tennessee Nicknames: Lou, Lukes, Lucky S/O: Rebecca Andrews Kids: Anthony, Isaac, and Connor Best Friend(s): River Valleey, Thomas Sanders, and Brian Roofers Aesthetic: Lucky was a sweet boy from the beginning. When he was born he didn’t even cry and his parents and doctors were at a loss as to why. He didn’t cry but he would giggle when his father made funny sounds and faces at him. He loved the horses at the ranch like his older sister Maggie. He never wanted to ride them but would stay in the kitchen and help his mama cut the carrots and feed them the little orange vegetable. He was named Luke legally, but everyone eventually ended up calling him Lucky due to his mama saying he was lucky to look like his daddy. Elvis never called him Lucky however, thought it was cocky of him to do so.
Tumblr media
Caroline Grace Presley (@carriegpres)
DOB: February 14th 1961 Age: 62 years old Hometown: Memphis, Tennessee Nicknames: Care, Carrie, Carebear S/O: Nicholas Carvell Kids: Ashley, Mallory, and Ethan Best Friend(s): Rachel May and Timothy Cameron Aesthetic: Caroline was the sweetest, most quiet little girl to ever walk this earth. She never forgot her P&Qs and kept to herself. The only people she ever really talked to was her twin brother, her mama, her papa, and her daddy. She was actually extremely close with her papa. She would beg to stay with Vernon when her parents went out. If her brothers had a soccer game, or sister had a dance recital, she would always try to stay behind with him. He always went to every single game and recital. Of course Vernon didn’t mind, he adored all of grandchildren dearly, but there was something about Carrie Grace that had him wrapped around her finger. Elvis had always called her Carebear and it stuck, until she had turned 20 and people thought it was funny because of the toy.
Tumblr media
Charlotte Mae Presley (@charliemae)
DOB: December 24th 1964 Age: 59 years old Hometown: Memphis, Tennessee Nicknames: Charlie, Lottie, Lottie Mae S/O: David Monroe Kids: Leah, Alexander, and Ryan Best Friend(s): Sarah Buckley and James Dawson Aesthetic: Lottie knew who she was since she was a child. She was stubborn and a bit of a diva, getting it from her father as her mother would say. She loved all things girly and was spoiled rotten by her father and uncle Jerry. She never was one to be letting boys walk all over her. Elvis always joked about not having to keep eyes on her around boys, because she would just kick em and tell them to beat it. When she had met David it was a completely different story. He was so nice to her and treated her like a princess, he was the only boy to see the sweet calm side of Charlotte Mae Presley.
Tumblr media
Taylor Thomas Presley (@taylorthomaspresley)
DOB: November 8th 1971 Age: 52 years old Hometown: Memphis, Tennessee Nicknames: Tay S/O: Jennifer Maren Kids: Lux, Sophia, Noah, Freddie, and Ava Best Friend(s): Courtney Hall Aesthetic: Taylor Presley was a force to be reckoned with. He was a player like no other, girls would flock to him. He had a band when he was a teenager and something about his crazy guitar riffs rocked the world. He helped the rock n’ roll scene become what we know it today. He worked on songs for Guns n Roses, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper, etc. When he was just 15 he started writing ‘Welcome to The Jungle’ and that solidified his place at the top of the rock n’ roll scene.
Tumblr media
Stella Love Presley (@stellaloves)
DOB: July 1st 1974 Age: 49 years old Hometown: Memphis, Tennessee Nicknames: Stells, Ella, Ellie S/O: Cameron Rawcliff Kids: Jordan, Elijah, and Tatum Best Friend(s): William Barker and Alison Rose Aesthetic: Stella was a warm soul. She took after her mama in so many ways. In fact, she was so much like her mother, Elvis couldn’t stand to look at his little daughter for more than a minute during their divorce. She reminded him so much of his sweet Halle Mae. She was gentle with the animals at Graceland, and kind to others less fortunate than they were. She always helped her mama out at Church Benefits and never expected anything back in return. Stella Love was Elvis’ little angel. Thought it was his mama reincarnated.
Tumblr media
Austin Matthew Presley (@texpresley)
DOB: July 1st 1974 Age: 49 years old Hometown: Memphis, Tennessee Nicknames: Tex, Texas S/O: Bethany MacDonald Kids: Lucy, Raegan, Miley, and Tiana Best Friend(s): Stephen Booker and Louis Reid Aesthetic: Austin, or Tex, as many often called him, was a strange kid. He was named after the city his mama was born in and from there on out his name was no longer Austin, but Tex. The Memphis Mafia came up with that one. Halle Mae didn’t like it one bit, thought he sounded like a gang member. “C’mon Red, he’s not some kinda gangsta, he’s a 6 year old lil’ boy!” he remembers his mama saying. He ran around with his dads friends and failed to make friends his age. He eventually met Stephen Booker in 4th Grade and they soon became best friends. They hung out all the time, and Elvis and Halle Mae were just happy that their son had made some true friends, not just his Uncles.
Tumblr media
Olivia Faith Presley (@faithpresleyy)
DOB: January 11th 1978 Age: 45 years old Hometown: Austin, Texas Nicknames: Liv, Livvy, Faith S/O: Samuel Hunt Kids: Mitchell and Julia Best Friend(s): Ellen Marks and Talia Newman Aesthetic: Liv was the oldest of the triplets and the ringleader of them as well. Halle Mae knew from the day those three were born, that Liv was going to be the most like her recently departed husband. She was easy-going yet a hard headed child growing up. Livvy was known for her short, Elvis-esque temper and her singing. She showed the world that even though Elvis was dead and gone, that he still lived on in his offspring. Jerry never talked about his favourites, said he didn’t have any, but Halle Mae knew him long enough to know that Olivia was his special little girl. When she had her babies, Halle felt so alone without El with her, but Jerry had stepped in and helped her through it. He was the triplets father figure but he never replaced Elvis, never could.
Tumblr media
Calvin Beau Presley (@calbeau)
DOB: January 11th 1978 Age: 45 years old Hometown: Austin, Texas Nicknames: Cal, Calv, Vinny S/O: Sylvia Brooks Kids: Riley, Lauren, and Ross Best Friend(s): Rosalie Bryan, Ethan Banks, and Tyler Isaacs Aesthetic: Cal was a very charismatic person from the start. He was very charming and loved the attention. The middle child he was. He had southern charm, had his manners in order just like his mama taught him. Calvin knew he was attractive and he knew how to get his way. Hell, he’d even charm his grandmother into giving him and his siblings ice-cream before his mama has even started on dishin’ up dinner. All he had to do was flash his big ol’ dimpled smile to anyone and he would have' em’ wrapped around his little finger. He became an actor and went on to win 19 oscars and 11 emmys in his career.
Tumblr media
Benjamin Bailey Presley (@benjpresley)
DOB: January 11th 1978 Age: 45 years old Hometown: Austin, Texas Nicknames: Ben, Benny, Benji, BB, Gunner S/O: Nora Jones Kids: None Best Friend(s): Alexander Rhodes Aesthetic: The youngest of the triplets and the youngest of the Presley Gang, Benjamin was very shy. He hated the idea of living in his fathers shadow. So much that he came home from school one day and cried to his mother wanting to change his name. He couldn’t stand the special treatment he received from being the King’s Son. His mama raised him to be humble and he stayed to it his whole life. Ben was a big mama’s boy, who loved his mother to death. She had never seen a more selfless little boy in her life. Even her precious little Luke had times where he was selfish. Little kids are meant to, allowed to be selfish a little bit, but not her Benji. He would stay up to help wrap presents with her on Christmas Eve, he would take his own birthday money to help pay for his older sister's Barbie dreamhouse. He loved his mother and he loved Olivia more than anything in the world. Ben and Olivia were as close as ever. Calvin used to tease Ben and Liv would always stick up for him and that made them stick with each other.

In my opinion, Angela was punished for 10c, especially Leah. The backlash after spoilers was so big AMC was seriously considering not airing the episode at all (there was a lot of tension around the negative response of 10c) . That was one of the reasons Scott Gimple began to interfere with the scripts of season 11. He is also behind Maggie Negan thing because that was a time when they got a deal with Jeff and Lauren and needed to develop Maggie and Negan's relationship. Originally network was planning a solo Negan spin-off but after the cancellation of TWD, AMC needed to give Lauren a job due to her contract.
Until late January 2022, the Caryl spinoff was 100% still happening and was set to be filmed in Georgia around September - November 2022, however, Angela was already out.
Unfortunately, I cannot say more because my source went to another job.
AMC punishing Angela for Leah is 100% my speculation, not a fact.
(naturally, I can't confirm any of this without exposing my source and I don't need anyone to believe me. You do you, right? I actually just wanted to express my opinion on Gimple and Angela after you began to talk about them with your anons and then I just thought about revealing things I can reveal without getting trouble from my source lol)
Greeting mt, I like your blog a lot!
Greetings to you too, friend. And ty! :)
I can't speak to the validity of any of this seeing as though I have no idea who you are let alone your source. Just applying my own understanding of things, I think the production dates had to have been moved up earlier than January. Presumably leading up to Angela's exit. You might be right about the backlash, but I suspect the personnel changes at AMC also contributed a lot. Regardless, Gimple's interference wasn't in the show's best interest if we're focusing on quality.

The Walking Dead Series Finale: I CANNOT BELIEVE IT WAS THIS GOOD
Be warned, SPOILERS GALORE. I went into this episode with such low expectations because I have seen: Supernatural, Game of Thrones... and had no idea what to expect because I’m so used to series finales just being god awful.
THIS ONE WAS NOT. LET ME PREFACE THIS BY SAYING THIS COMPLETELY EXCEEDED ANYTHING I WAS EXPECTING.
S P O I L E R S.
Rick and Michonne -
Good God. I didn’t think I could cry harder but I did. I always had suspicions that Andy would come back in the finale to some extent - because it would make no sense for the main character to not appear - as well as Danai, and as soon as I heard his voice, I broke.
Because the montage that filters between Rick and Michonne and eventually leads into every single character of this show perfectly encompasses everything The Walking Dead has been since the pilot.
Getting to see that they both still have the hope of reuniting, that they haven’t given up on one another and that Rick still has intentions of getting home to his babies broke me.
Seeing Rick again after losing him in such a devastating way broke me. Andrew Lincoln could be on screen for ten minutes with no lines and can convey so many things just with his eyes.
Danai too. And the dedication Michonne has to Rick, to someone who she loves so deeply, reminds you that even in a world like that one... there’s goodness. There’s hope. There’s promise.
I wasn’t planning on engaging in the spin offs, but this one I will. I really just need Rick and Michonne to get home to their kids. Especially since Judith mentioned multiple times in this episode that she just wants her family to be together again.
The girl is a child. She wants what all children want: Her mother, her father, her family, her home.
And I think Rick and Michonne’s spin off is gonna fulfill that little girl’s dreams. I desperately need the Grimes babies to appear in it.
Negan and Maggie -
First of all, this one is for the people who still think Negan can’t/shouldn’t be redeemed, because I am going to just flat out tell you that you’re wrong. I mentioned in a post a couple of weeks ago when episode 23 aired that in the back half of s11 Negan’s intentions are all for the betterment of Annie and his unborn baby. You can tell he wants to be better. He has something to fight for now. Something and someone who can help him be a better man then the one we grew to know when he was introduced.
Maggie’s explanation of how she’ll always perceive him was pretty spot on for a widow who lost her husband in such a brutal way. Masterclass acting from JDM and Lauren, as per usual. She wants to move on and stop hurting. That’s expected. She doesn’t want her son to see that Negan's actions still have a grip on her all these years later. She doesn’t want Hershel to see her be defined by the anger she carries over losing Glenn.
“I’ll never love like that again.”
Yeah. I imagine she won’t. I really enjoyed his redemption arc and her coming to terms with the fact they’re both trying to do better, to move on, to be something better for their kids. To be a good example.
I really enjoyed Negan's arc in particular throughout the course of this season. I just felt it was so poignant. It really showed you who he became through the influences of the people he met after the war with the Saviors. Carl. Michonne. Maggie. Judith. Rick. All these people who were once his enemies ended up teaching him things that he carried years later and will probably carry forever. I just think it was so well executed.
The only quip I have about their spin off is that I really don’t understand how they set this up for them to eventually get to Manhanttan and what they’ll be doing there. Maggie mentioned that it’s time to talk about the future and basically venture out past where the show has taken place, but It’s pretty clear they’ll always be at odds even if they both do manage to move on.
Carol and Daryl -
Melissa McBride smiled so much with her teeth in this episode that it added ten years to my life span, made my pillow cold and made my skin clear. I will never get over how gorgeous Carol is when she’s happy. I was so thrilled that most of the scenes she appears in are with Daryl and Judith because even as someone who doesn’t want to adopt more kids, you just know that Judith is hers and Daryl’s because in some way, they’re going to want to honor Rick and Michonne by doing right by her and RJ.
I know alot of people are going to have mixed reviews about this one. With the two of them basically teetering on the edge of a rift for so long, most of the fans simply just wanted some type of reconciliation after all that happened in s10. Especially in the bonus episodes.
And you know what? We didn’t get it. We got something better.
There’s so much touching in this episode. I’ve mentioned before that Caryl uses touch to ground one another in difficult situations, and it’s everywhere in the finale.
The two I really want to touch on, however, are the last two scenes before Daryl rides off.
Carol and Daryl are seated outside of a lake in the Commonwealth to talk about what happens next, and she’s understandably upset this’ll be the first time they’ve been this far apart like... ever. I’m not counting when Daryl went looking for Rick because he was still in reach. She’s not known life without him for over a decade. It’s completely understandable that she’s hesitant to let him go.
And to be quite fair, I think Daryl is expecting this. But he affirms her with the reminder that it’s not permanent. That they will see each other again and she can count on him coming back to her.
Then the hug. Touch to ground each other during a difficult time. During a farewell. Not a goodbye.
The ugly sobs I made....
Then the scene on the bike. GOOD LORD. I did NOT go into this episode expecting anything conclusive for these two, but an I LOVE YOU was NOT in my bingo card for this episode.
Listen. I don’t care if it’s platonic or romantic. It’s HUGE. I cannot recall a SINGLE time this has been said b/t these two, much less said by one of them to ANOTHER unless it was Carol to Ezekiel, or to Henry and Sophia. I can’t remember off the top of my head. Daryl may have also said it to Judith... but that’s it. That’s IT.
An I LOVE YOU is HUGE for BOTH of them. It’s not one sided. It’s NEVER been one sided.
Am I devastated this left Carol alone? Yes. Am I thrilled she’s alive after spending years thinking she’d finish the show and die in the process? Yes. Am I going to watch the Daryl spin off? No.
While I believe this was a satisfactory ending - Daryl being on the bike makes sense, he’s literally been characterized as a lone wolf from the pilot and spent most of the first several seasons out in the open by himself because it’s where he thrives the most - to some extent, I really am just happy with what we were given. Even if it’s not the way I would’ve done it.
I have hopes for Carol’s story too. I think Melissa is going to come back. Don’t know how or when, but that’s what the fanfic is for.
Rosita -
Truth be told, I never really cared about her. I think Christian Serratos played her well and her development was flawless just like it was for Gabriel and Eugene, but there's one thing about her death I think really stands out from the others.
Most of the deaths on this show are really brutal. Dark. Depressing. Hopeless because you know nothing could’ve been done to change them or because you know if one thing had occurred differently, they’d have lived.
Rosita’s death is very final. She’s okay with it. At peace with it. No matter how much it may break her heart to be leaving behind Coco (WHO LOOKS SO MUCH LIKE HER AND SIDDIQ IT’S RIDICULOUS) she knows her daughter will be raised by someone who loves her and will remind her of where she came from.
The imagery was what got me. The room she dies in is white. All of it. White is pure. White is clean and safe and peaceful.
And it reminded me of this one quote in S3 where Maggie is leaning over Hershel’s body after he gets bit and loses his leg. It is, in my opinion, the most profound line in the whole show.
“If it’s time to go, it’s okay. Be peaceful.”
And I think that line perfectly encapsulates Rosita’s death.
Judith -
Lord. LORD. When Rick left the show, I had no intentions of continuing. I was done. Then they brought Cailey on as Judith and gave me back Carol and that’s why I stuck it through to the end.
Let me tell you... this girl owned this role. OWNED it. I keep forgetting she’s basically a teenager now and has been Judith Grimes for a couple of years, but she grew in this role.
And she aced it. Home run. She carried every single scene she was in and I spent the entire episode with my eyes glued to her because I was so paranoid they were gonna do Judith dirty.
And you know what? They really didn’t. This episode really shows you as the viewer that even though she’s a Grimes - and has been raised in a world that shows no mercy - she’s still a child. A child who just wants to see her mom and dad again.
That broke my heart. What she wants should be so easily attainable, but it’s not.
I think my favorite part of her character from S9 to the end is how much she embodies the people who brought her into the world and raised her. Rick and Michonne. Lori. Carl. All she wants to do is to honor them and it’s so endearing because she’s so young, and she still has so much more to learn but she’s facing that with what she’s learned already from people who aren’t even related to her by blood.
From people who loved her and people she lost and people she will carry on for even if they’re not there to witness it.
The Rest of the Cast -

YEAR IN REVIEW
2022 in Review: 11 Dumb Things TV Did

Attention to all of TV’s Powers That Be: If you’re looking to make a resolution in 2023, we’ve got a suggestion: Make better choices.
That’s right, it is that time  in TVLine’s annual Year in Review, where we take stock of some “questionable” calls made over the past 12 months. And we are not talking here about individual cancellations; that’s low-hanging fruit, well-discussed in dozens of other places on this site.
Best TV Shows of 2022 | Stranger Things, The Boys, Andor, More

Next Up
No, we instead are raising our collective eyebrow at dubious decisions such a spinoff announcement that killed much tension during The Walking Dead’s final season… a “recasting” misstep on So You Think You Can Dance… CBS going AWOL on a major TV milestone… and The Great British Baking Show‘s half-baked approach to “Mexican Week.”
Also due for dings this year are ABC effectively pitting Bachelorette vs. Bachelorette, some less-than-fantastic fantasy-TV scheduling, and Netflix’s haste in whipping Knives Out 2 out of theaters.
But perhaps foremost in everyone’s minds is the whole HBO Max mishegas! Which wasn’t about any one cancellation but an ongoing “death by 1,000 cuts.”
Review our curation of the Dumb Things TV Did This Year, then feel free to let loose with your own loud, wet raspberries!

THE WALKING DEAD KILLS TENSION WITH SPINOFF NEWS
Share

Heading into The Walking Dead‘s 11th and final season, fans already knew that Daryl and Carol would walk out alive, given that in September 2020 it was announced that the twosome would front their own spinoff. (Melissa McBride’s Carol is no longer involved, however.)
But then, with 13 episodes still left to air — including a stretch that strongly suggested that Negan would be executed — another spinoff was announced, revolving around Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan and Lauren Cohan’s Maggie. Meaning that two more fates were effectively spoiled well ahead of the series finale.
“I’m still not sure why we announced that already,” Morgan grumbled in a podcast. “It was sort of a shocker to me.”
TWD showrunner Angela Kang measured her own words a bit more carefully when speaking with TVLine at season’s end, but allowed, “It was definitely on a creative level sort of challenging, because when things are announced is not really in the hands of the actors or producers or whatever. That’s more the studio having to make announcements for their own timing reasons.”

WTF, SYTYCD?

After Matthew Morrison was booted as a Season 17 judge for breaking “production protocols,” we were hopeful that his replacement would have the dance knowledge to match that of fellow judges JoJo Siwa and the late, great Stephen “tWitch” Boss.
Instead, So You Think You Can Dance tapped… Leah Remini? The sitcom vet was perfectly pleasant in her critiques, but she made about as much sense on a dance competition panel as Ellen DeGeneres did at American Idol‘s dais.

LONNNG-DELAYED STRANGER THINGS 4 STICKS WITH BINGE RELEASE
Share

We said it before, some have argued with us, and yet we say it again:
With the long-delayed arrival of Stranger Things 4 nearly three years (!) after its Season 3 drop, and given the new episodes’ XL to XXL length, Netflix was gift-wrapped a perfect opportunity to dabble in weekly releases and make the hit series’ return a weeks-long “event” (and without the appearance that the likes of weekly-releasing Disney+ made them “blink”).
They could have really made Stranger Things 4 “appointment” programming for all its fans to consume, scrutizine and speculate about, non-stop over multiple weeks.
Instead, Netflix stuck to its trademark “binge release” model (save for the final two, truly supersized episodes that followed a month later).

BACHELORETTE BUNGLES 2-FOR-1

Honestly, this one’s on us: We’re not sure why we expected any less from a show as blatantly manipulative and disingenuous as The Bachelorette. And yet, when Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia were announced as co-leads of Season 19, we assumed they’d be emotionally supported in their pursuit of true love…
…only to learn that both women would be dating the same pool of men, paving the way for humiliating rose ceremonies where Rachel’s roses were straight-up rejected, or several men confessed to Gabby that they preferred Rachel’s looks and personality.
Eventually, yes, Gabby and Rachel got their own separate groups of suitors, but the season was hard to redeem — and neither woman found her forever love, anyway.

TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE RAN OUTTA TIME

For some reason, HBO decided that its adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s 546-page sci-fi novel could not be done justice as a closed-ended miniseries, but instead should be spread out over multiple seasons — meaning, that when the drama got cancelled not two weeks after its freshman finale aired, viewers were left thoroughly, and needlessly, unsatisfied.

MORE LIKE 'HBO AX,' AMIRITE?
Share
Photo : Courtesy of HBO Max
What a strange few months it has been! And to think that at first, we thought the madness would be limited to the random-at-the-time scrapping of the HBO Max-bound, significantly completed Batgirl movie (and some Scooby-Doo! offering).
And hey, we totally get it. Warner Bros Discovery boss David Zaslav has some $3 billion (with a B!) in debt to reduce, by any means necessary. But that doesn’t change the fact that the harsh calls made across the entire WBD catalog — be they cancellations (Westworld), “un-renewals” (Minx), snuffed premieres (the animated Batman: Caped Crusader) or the removal of titles from the streaming service (Raised by Wolves, Gordita Chronicles) — add up to what feels like a death by a thousand cruel cuts.
Practical from a business sense? Sure. Inelegant and seemingly insensitive in execution? Yep.

CBS AWOL ON M*A*S*H MILESTONE
Share
Photo : Courtesy of Everett Collection
Over the course of one week in September, four (4!) CBS classics celebrated the 50th (!!) anniversary of their respective premieres: Maude (on Sept. 12), The Waltons (Sep. 14), The Bob Newhart Show (Sep. 16), and M*A*S*H (Sept. 17).
M*A*S*H, to single out one, is widely hailed as one of the very greatest TV shows of all-time, and its seres finale shattered viewership records. So how did CBS commemorate the acclaimed war comedy’s milestone?
By doing nothing. Not even a lazy, one-hour clip show during the sleepy stretch preceding this fall’s Premiere Week.
Instead, Alan Alda was left to tweet out a photo of him and onetime scene partner Mike Farrell toasting the occasion.

PEACOCK MOVE LEAVES FANS IN A DAYS
Share

Telling the loyal fans of a lonnnnnnnng-running daytime soap opera that it will no longer will be available on traditional NBC, but is moving to “streaming,” was a lot for people who are very set in their ways to swallow.
It also created a lot of anxiety for fans at the time, so we have to wonder why NBC Universal didn’t take a flyer and announce in tandem that Days of Our Lives had been renewed for at least another year beyond its current deal that last into 2023? It would have lessened the blow, and made a Peacock subscription feel like a better long-term value.

HOUSE OF THE RINGS OF DRAGON POWER: LORD OF THRONES
Share

Talk about “feast or famine,” fantasy fans! Way back in August 2021, Amazon announced — way in advance — that its long-awaited Lord of the Rings prequel series would debut on Sept. 2, 2022. Eight long months later, HBO decided that its long-awaited Game of Thrones prequel series would debut… not two weeks prior to its fantasy-saga rival. The significant overlap between the two projects fueled a “Which is better?” narrative that inarguably distracted from each series’ particular strengths, instead of letting each enjoy its moment in the pop culture spotlight.

BRITISH BAKING SHOW'S NOT-SO-GREAT 'MEXICAN WEEK'
Share
Photo : Netflix screenshot
We can’t blame the hapless British bakers for being utterly unfamiliar with Mexican cuisine — although Carole’s pronunciation of “guac-ee-molo” will forever haunt our dreams. But what could’ve been an instructive introduction to a vibrant culture instead became a woefully ill-conceived train wreck, plagued by outdated stereotypes, peeled avocados (???) and a truly bewildering taco-making challenge. (Tacos aren’t baked!!!) Let’s just hope the next time Baking Show goes international, they do a bit more homework first.

NETFLIX DULLS KNIVES OUT 2 BOX OFFICE
Share
Photo : Courtesy of Netflix
At best, Netflix’s release plan for Rian Johnson’s follow-up to his 2019 hit was “curious”: The mystery thriller was given a one-week, limited theatrical release on Nov. 23, after which it would hit the streamer on Dec. 23.
But a funny thing happened. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery exceeded any expectations at the box office, based on third-party estimates. (No, Netflix doesn’t release theatrical data either!) And amid a quiet stretch at the cineplex, it has been estimated that the sequel could have enjoyed a $40 million to $50 million opening weekend if it had enjoyed a proper wide release befitting a sequel to a hit.
Meaning, many suspect Netflix left a lotta box office bucks on the table by constricting Glass Onion‘s theatrical run in favor of hurrying along its streaming debut.

Molly Bernard said Lauren is going to reconnect with an ex, and I can only remember two of her exes. There was Maggie and that boring guy she tried to be boring with.
She also said her favorite relationship on the show was Maggie and Lauren, so I hope it’s Maggie she reconnects with. Would hate to see her go back to the boring guy... because that was boring.

not to talk twd meta on main and accidentally invite people to engage me in conversation, but i was thinking about how the entirety of leah's existence is bc of lauren cohen. it was Such a Battle to get her back on the show, and my guess is that in order to pull it off they had to give her a good ("good") backstory and just throwing her into the mix with the stuff that was already happening was going to overshadow her, so they needed a new villain of her very own, except why would anyone give a shit about it if it was just maggie and people we don't know? they had to get a main in there, preferably The Main. but why would daryl leave his family in the time of crisis? they had to give him incentive to get involved. and i've felt from the start that kang is a hardcore caryl shipper who has finally gotten a platform to write her own caryl fanfic, and so she was like, "i'm gonna write my caryl/temp storyline for angst, and also to appease ppl who won't stfu about daryl not having a love interest in a decade. i'll give him this lady who foils carol directly (and progressively looks more like her in every new scene, wtf is up with that), give them no physical affection, make her toxic as hell, and make it explicitly clear that it all came to fruition bc daryl was hardcore pining and needed companionship, and then i will end it in bloodshed 🤗," and i'm sure she knew people would lose their gd minds bc that's what they do, but she had a lot of people to pander to (ensemble cast yo), and lauren cohen to appease, so it seemed like a good plan at the time, and so this first third of episodes has been "k let's get this dumb thing over with so we can move on with our lives before someone throws a molotov cocktail through my window," and she, like us, has been counting down the days to when we can get to the real content
as for connie, i have maintained from the beginning that i didn't think she was ever meant to be a romantic interest, and kang and the other writers saw the potential and were like, "k this can placate the non-caryl shippers for a bit while we plot for caryl to, quite literally, ride off into the sunset together," but bc ppl, as previously mentioned, are insane, they read things like, "daryl hugs good friend he thought got blown up in a cave explosion," and immediately think "kang hates carol and caryl and all their chemistry and has anyone doxxed her yet i have the molotov cocktail ready to go," and rip literally any actress who steps within 100 feet of norman reedus
(let's not forget that connie being alive probably thrills daryl not just bc his bud is back, but also bc it means carol is freed from the "whups i killed some innocent people during my quest for revenge" and that will help their relationship out immensely)
anyway, i'm not Blaming lauren cohen for the shitshow response, girl's gotta make a paycheck, but i do think that had she not returned to the show, none of this would have happened, and Mistakes Were Made in terms of trying to make maggie relevant again, and i believe that the entire thing is pandering and in the scheme of things couldn't matter less
i wrote this in five seconds on my phone in a towel after taking a shower and did not reread it, but those are my thoughts, the end, send post

Maggie Rhee Rant
Okay, so I’m going to do a bit of a rant on the character of Maggie for The Walking Dead. There are episode 3 spoilers in this, so please don’t click the read more option if spoilers bother you or if it is going to upset you hearing someone’s opinion on the character.
Tumblr media
The first thing I want to talk about is the fandom. It really irritates me when you are talking about why you dislike Maggie and the first thing people do is they scream “misogynist!” – I like a lot of the characters on The Walking Dead that are female. There are so many good characters on The Walking Dead in fact. Michonne, Carol, Lydia, Princess, Yumiko, Judith, etc. I just don’t find Maggie very likable so when people scream misogynist when someone doesn’t like Maggie and they say that it is completely irrational for people to dislike her. That’s silly and ridiculous.
The next line that I’m sick of seeing is, “You only hate her because you like Negan” … no, I’ve never liked the character of Maggie. Even before the creation of Negan. I’ve always disliked her character. Stop trying to invalidate someone’s opinion just because they don’t agree with you. You don’t have to attack someone’s character just because they don’t like a character you do or vice versa.
Now onto the comments about Maggie this season....
Maggie abandoned Alexandria. The girl wanted nothing to do with them, until she needed something. Yet, when she arrives back into Alexandria, she expects to be in the leading role and wants these people to bend over backwards for her. Not only that, she brought he wrath of The Reapers onto these people. I understand people will defend “Well that’s her family…” it’s still screwed up.
Now onto their little journey to get food from Meridian. It was a horrible plan. So many people said it was a suicide mission. She brings Negan to “lead” them through the city. Negan tells her what the best option is MULTIPLE times to keep the people safe and because she hates him, she ignores him. I’m not someone that thinks Maggie should ever forgive Negan. It makes sense why she hates him. BUT HER HATRED IS GETTING PEOPLE KILLED. Instead of listening to Negan, she decides to do her own thing which leads to disaster after disaster. She was leading people to their deaths.
Maggie gets mad at Negan for leaving her (even though she just threatened to kill him five minutes earlier), but then decides it is okay to leave a teenager behind because they are a ‘liability’. Maggie. The boy was fucking scared. There was room to save him! You can’t convince me otherwise. They could have opened the door, pulled him in and closed the door. If that would have been her son who did the same thing, she would have risked everything to save him. It’s a sad day when even Negan was attempting to save Gage, but she let him die. First example of Maggie the hypocrite.
Maggie leads the group RIGHT into the hands of The Reapers, getting her entire group killed and also some of those in Alexandria. She was warned her plan was shit. She was told it was a suicide mission. Negan gave options to make it less dangerous, she ignored him and look where it led her.
This whole event was HER FAULT. The reapers marked her. She knew they were dangerous. She knew that things were bad. Yet, she still took this group right into the center of it all. Yet she has the audacity to tell Negan this is his fault. That he caused this. Maggie! I know it’s hard to blame yourself because let’s be honest (she never has) but you are the reason your friends are dead. It was your fault. It was your shit plan! Not Negan’s.
Then she goes and lectures Negan about how he doesn’t have the right to choose who lives and who dies because he’s awful blah blah blah! Okay. We just watched this girl let a teenager die. She GETS to pick who lives and who dies, yet she is going to lecture the one person who is trying to help her. God, this woman gets on my nerves so much because she is such a hypocrite.
Blaming Negan for everything going to shit? Yeah, Negan did shitty things, but Maggie you have too and you continued to make stupid decisions. This shit is a hundred percent her fault and listening to her go off about how it’s Negan’s fault when the people of Alexandria are still alive because of Negan irritates the hell out of me.
I like Negan because I’m a fan of morally gray characters where they can be both good and bad. But with Maggie, I have never been a fan of her hypocrisy. Is she a bad ass? Sure. Lauren is also a fucking fantastic actress, but overall, Maggie is very unlikable in my opinion and she is awful. Listening to her lecture Negan about her own faults is making me hate the character more. She can’t even blame herself for her own faults and that makes her character twice as frustrating.
Even on The Talking Dead when Josh called out Maggie on being a liability, he was right. She is. Her character is making shit decisions and it’s obvious.
I also want to add how she told Negan that it was impossible for him to change. Yet, it’s acceptable for her to change and it’s okay that she became dark? It just brings us back to that whole hypocrite thing.

Okay I've been doing alot of schoolwork recently, so here's what I think twd characters would do if they see you doing homework and wanted to help(this is definitely not me avoiding my work right now at all no sir I'm a good student I swear) :
Daryl- okay so he'd see you working and ask what you're doing, you'd tell him, and he'd ask if you needed help. He'd then try to help you but wouldn't really be able to, ask why you're doing it anyways and then be like "I'll teach you something you'll actually need to know" and then teach you to track or something. But he'd also constantly call you things like 'crazy smart' or 'smarty pants' when he'd see you studying.
Glenn- he'd offer you a snack and then want to help but he'd either end up talking about something that has nothing to do with what you're working on, or read your textbook and just sit there keeping you from actually doing his work. He means well but he's a distraction (especially season 1 Glenn)
Rick- The most helpful dad energy ever. He'd ask you the question you don't understand to see if you just need to hear it verbally, and then try to see if he can explain it in a way that can be easier to understand. But he's also the "math is math" scene from the Incredibles 2
The rest are under the cut
Carl- He'd sit there and do is homework with you. He'd ask you to help him more than offer you help, it'd end up with you two just joking around and throwing pencils at each other instead of actually working
Enid- she'd sit there with her feet on the table and a textbook in her lap and answer your questions while barely looking up
Tara- laughs and says "I'm gay I can't do math" even if it's not math hw. But then gives you a snack and actually tries to help you, then tells you that most textbooks have an answer key in the back
Maggie- helpful mom energy. She'd tell you about how she used to help Beth with the same things and get a bit sad but force a smile on your face and help you figure out the problem
Hershel- he'd walk by you doing it, come back with a snack, some wise words about how you're more capable than you know, kiss your head and tell let you know you got this and then leave to go do farm work
Connie- she'd be so helpful and make it fun! (Lauren was a teacher I can see Connie having the same energy)
Carol- another snack giver! But I also feel like if you didn't get the answer to the question a couple of times she'd lead you to the answer.
Negan- he's the opposite of Rick, he'd ask you the same question 8 times, getting more aggressive each time you say you don't know. Says this is why he was a gym teacher and not an actual teacher. He might eventually help you get the answer but it mostly ends with you telling him he's not helping
Ezekiel- MORE helpful dad energy but he makes it so much fun. He's theatrical and tries to make you laugh while learning because "you learn best when you're enjoying yourself", you're able to finish it all in like an hour
Princess- she tries but just like Glenn she gets distracted, and goes on a tangent on something completely different than what your schoolwork is.
Eugene- he's almost the most helpful one but everything he says makes things sound more complicated than they are, he leaves feeling very proud that he helped you but you're now just stuck on trying to process the unnecessarily big words he used in his 'simplification'
Merle- calls school stupid and just leaves. No help at all. But he comes back later and tells you he's actually pretty good at math if you need help. You tell him drug math isn't really helpful and he cusses you out
Rosita- tells you a story about one of her boyfriends that taught her about this exact subject and then is very helpful with the question and asks if you wanna take a break and do something fun
Lemme know what other characters you want maybe? Or another prompt if you want it? I also just realized how many characters I said would give you a snack lmao but they're all accurate but the snacks vary, like Hershel would give you a sandwich but Maggie would give you like orange slices yaknow?

CAN WE TAKE A MOMENT TO TALK ABOUT WHAT LAUREN COHAN POSTED IN HER IG STORY????? Like, she literally teasted a new series with JDM and I really hope/think that it's the freaking Carol/Daryl spin off leading to Beth's return.
Let's talk about it for a moment. TWD was supposed to have 15 seasons or so but they cut it down to only 11 seasons but TWD's people are sly foxes so they just created another spinoff making it the last 4 seasons of the show, just with another name. Because, we believe that Beth will be teased in S11, like they originaly planned. But since they got cut short on only 11 seasons they couldn't fulfill their plan on bringing her back and giving her the storyline in the last few seasons, wich leads us to the spin off. Or that's what I belive.
Moving on, we have what JDM said in this short interview to tease the new show. "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." This shows that Negan will obviously be in there as well as Maggie and maybe even Rick (or it's just my delusional brain hoping it). But that could also mean that the grady people wil be there too since they are some sort of enemy to the group. Wich means that Carol and Daryl will be there as well, also because it's "their spin off" (but in reality it's just the last remaining seasons of TWD).
In conclusion, they teased the spin off, Beth is coming back and my heart can't handle it.
And I really hope you sare some of my thoughts but most of all my exitement.
Have a nice day.💕
Well, we know the Maggie/Negan spinoff is different than the Daryl spinoff. There are two. And Melissa McBride backed out of the Carol/Daryl spinoff, so it's just a Daryl spinoff. My personal belief/hope is that Daryl will find Beth in his spinoff. But either way, I think all spinoffs (including the recently-announced Richonne one) are leading toward the CRM war. Which means, by default, they're leading to Beth.
So, overall, you're right.
It will be very interesting to see how they all relate and intersect. I'm personally super-excited for all of them.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and your excitement with us! Xoxo! ☀️🔥😘

So I just watched 11x09! Pretty neat episode, good pacing, lots of things happened (thank God) and not one to demolished our ship. Yey!
First of all, I'm so happy TWD is back! I really missed this zombie telenovela full of nonsensical action scenes and contrived dialogues hashtag my favourite show.
Nobody asked me but here are my few cents about it, I tried not to be too spoilery and I don't know how to add cut on the app so proceed carefully:
TWD SPOILERS TWD SPOILERS
1. All the action scenes with exploding zombies and all just felt a little meh to me. Like I think they were properly done yeah but I don't get on the edge of my seat anymore. Guess that's okay, too many years watching these fucking dumb zombies to feel threatened by them. TWD zombies got nothing compared to TWD spoilers.
2. Gracie really needs to learn how to defend herself. Loved all Aaron scenes, as usual.
3. Don't have anything to elaborate about Lydia. She's babe and deserves all acceptance and happiness and love and I hope we will see more of her on 11b.
4. Father Gabriel had is chance to talk to the religious Reaper and it was marvelous. Great scene, great pay off! I wish he got the chance to meet Pope as well, but we need to be happy for whatever crumbs this show gives us. He and Rosita..I think she's still mad he left with Maggie to a suicide mission and managed to get back alive but just barely. Girl was just really tired after fighting dozens of walkers in the middle of a storm and really hungry and that's what saved him of a 'cabron, I told you so', fucking stupid man'. They still a strange pairing but they really felt like a married couple with things to discuss on their reunion.
5. Talking about married couples who need to have a conversation cough caryl cough that little hug full of relief and tension and let's talk about it later because we are still stranded but we love each other hug cough. So nice to see Daryl hugging his family, Carol taught him to be a hugger and now he can have all the hugs he wants. He deserves them all. D*nnie reunion was very sweet and not charged with heavy emotions AT ALL. And to think people were talking about a new Terminus hug. They really need to stop exaggerating on spoilers before a caryler has a heart attack induced by stress. Am I the only one who thought it was interesting to not see Daryl's facial expressions when he hugged the Dixon family but that we did see his face when he hugged C*nnie? And the juxtaposition of that scene with Carol and Maggie reuniting? AK we know what you're doing, you're not mysterious at all.
6. They are really keeping RJ on silence because the boy can't act. Poor kid. He's still very cute looking at his apple with his neutral face.
7. We got our Alden question answered and it shocked 0 people. I liked the dude but he won't be missed. Anyways, I thought it was a beautiful scene delivered by Lauren Cohan.
8. Couldn't care less about Maggie x Negan sorry but I'll miss him serving as comic relief. I feel we'll have another Negan bottle episode on the near future and I don't know how to fell about it.
9. All the Reapers are gone except Leah. She'll steal more precious screen time with her drama but what can we do besides pray to have her ass kicked by Carol, right?
BEST SCENE OF THE WHOLE EPISODE: Eugene lonely clapping after introducing Lance to our exhausted and suspicious Team Family. Chef kiss 🤌
Also..where is Nabila and her adorable kids? Jerry, what they did to your family? They = TPTB
And that's it, I'm ready to the Commenwealth bonkers spoilers now. Send them all!

The Walking Dead
I think it’s funny that people blame ONLY Negan for the fall of The Walking Dead. The amount of hate that character gets is ridiculously funny. Here are some facts...yes FACTS.
The writers have said that Negan is not a rapist. We’ve never seen him rape anyone. We’ve never seen him force himself on anyone. No one ever talked about being raped by him. The people who created the show have said themselves Negan is not a rapist. If you think he’s a rapist, that’s on you, but you’re wrong.
A lot of people stopped watching because they felt the scene where Glenn died was too gruesome. Not because of the character of Negan, but actually the scene in general.
Carl was killed. Leaving many people upset because the story of The Walking Dead was supposed to focus Rick and Carl.
Andrew Lincoln left because he wanted to spend time with his family, the show was primarily about Rick. It was about the Grimes boys. So the fact they killed one and then the actor left made things complicated.
Danai left the show to try to attempt more in her career (as she has every right because she is amazing) that was also a hit for the show.
Losing Michonne, Rick and Carl was almost the final knife in the show. Yes, The Walking Dead used to be exceedingly more popular, but there were more things than just Negan that caused the show’s ratings to drop. There were very poor writing decisions.
All the people that blame Negan for EVERYTHING are ridiculous at this point and just pure trolls. Hate him all you want, but putting the fall of the show on him is ridiculous. He still remains to be one of the most popular characters on the show. Whether you hate him or not, he is still an exceedingly popular character. Not only that, Here’s Negan was one of the highest rated (critically and by fans) in a years. So just because you don’t like him, doesn’t mean that he isn’t a well liked character.
Negan is one of the last remaining, interesting, multi-layered, complex characters on the show and I find it funny the people that bitch the most about him are people who don’t even watch the show anymore. They have no idea what they are talking about and I find it irritating as hell.
Also, let’s remember these people are fucking actors. Lauren (Maggie) likes Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Steven and Jeff, they are friends. Danai is also someone who is Jeff’s friend. These people support each other and their careers. So stop playing them against each other just because of their characters.

Closing remarks for #LingComm21
I’m delighted to have co-organized LingComm21 last week, the first International Conference on Linguistics Communication. Here is the (lightly edited) text of the opening remarks I gave after the final panel.
Hello lingcommers! It's only been three days, and I haven't left my apartment, and yet I feel like I've been somewhere. You know, I was tempted to make this feel like the real conference experience by getting some coffee and muffins and leaving them out overnight to get stale before I eat them. Or maybe letting my phone run out of battery and sitting on the floor next to an outlet in the wall so I could charge it Okay, I didn't do that. But in the end, I still feel like I had a real conference experience. I got to wander around from poster to poster and find out about so many cool projects, I got to introduce people to each other and send other people to find each other because they had similar interests. I got to scroll through the livetweet and the instagram hashtag afterwards when I was thoroughly exhausted and like a whole bunch of posts. I got to hang out in the cafe before talks and the bar after them and chat with people. I mean, the cafe now has cats in it, and this has never happened to me at a physical conference BUT NOW I THINK IT SHOULD. And like any real conference, I have some people to thank: Captioners - Maggie and Tess from White Coat Captioning Sponsors - the Linguistics Association of Great Britain, Wordnik, and our 12 personal sponsors who helped us keep the registration fees low while being able to afford captioning. And especially to the patrons of Lingthusiasm, who enabled us to underwrite the setup costs of this conference, such as the deposit on captioning, before we had any idea whether anyone would be interested in attending.  Volunteers - our 10 excellent volunteers from many different countries, who greeted you at the door on the first day and were available for questions throughout the conference Panelists, poster presenters, moderators, and people who organized meetups, who made the body of the conference happen by giving you things to show up for!   Organizing committee - Laura Bailey, Jessi Grieser, and especially my co-chair Lauren Gawne, who figured out the structure and programming for this conference   Conference manager - Liz McCullough, who not only sent you tons of emails and created this fantastic gather space, but also took care of innumerable tiny and last minute details that made this whole event run smoothly Speaking of event running, I want to call your attention particularly to the meetup in the first slot tomorrow about the future of this lingcomm conference - is this a thing that you'd like to see happen again? It does take work to run but it's also been incredibly rewarding, so if that's something you'd be interested in being involved in, please come to that meetup or send us an email and we can begin that conversation. We've been taking a lot of notes on what we've learned from this year and we'd be very happy to pass those along to a new team. For this year, I hope that you've had the relief of being understood, of being around other people who also care about linguistics communication, that people have gone from avatars you maybe recognized from social media into avatars you literally "bumped" into, and from strangers into maybe the seeds of friends. The panelists said in the closing panel a few minutes ago that this is a community - I promise I didn’t even tell them to say that - and I hope that this feeling of community is something you can bring with you.  The formal programming ends today, but hopefully for lingcomm this is the beginning of a new era, an era of deepening the collaborations and the relationships with each other, of occasionally looking inward to this community so that we can look outward again to all of the lingcomm we're doing with our existing communities with renewed vigour.  So I'll say not goodbye but I'll see you again, whether around in Gather later this evening, at the meetup day, or in the coming weeks and months on social media.
Previous speeches about lingcomm: opening remarks for LingComm21, on receiving the LSA’s Linguistics, Language, and the Public Award.
