it isn't there anymore.

the mainline game events from rtdl onwards tend to form the foundations for significant turning points in the whole awtdy timeline. galacta knight made his wish during robobot, but was actually placed into the timeline much earlier. as a result he already has clear knowledge of how these events played out for meta knight, and can therefore adjust them to his liking

for the most part, he's interested in dealing with threats as quickly and efficiently as possible, and keeping total control of the people in his orbit. his overall goals are to destroy the life he stole from meta knight, and to corrupt his loved ones in whichever way will hurt him the most

in the case of triple deluxe, galacta knight goes to floralia in kirby's stead to "rescue dedede" and "prevent the spread of dark matter" caused by Sectonia's parasitic rule. kirby slept through the event and blames himself for not waking up in time to help rescue the people of the sky from their queen's corruption

at this point he still believes you can sometimes purify those who have come into contact with dark matter, and feels that if he'd been there, he could have at least tried.

#in this drawing i wanted to use the song ‘Square’ by Mitski #personally i feel like this song is about being in love and trying far too hard to be the perfect lover that you are incapable of being #to me it’s like trying to see where you fit in that person’s life and not knowing where you belong in it #but then you’re still longing for that feeling of belonging there with them #so you self-destructively go to great lengths to ‘earn’ your place with them #i feel that the self-destructive behavior of trying to be that perfect lover just to ‘earn’ their love #is exactly the ‘burning’ that Mitski describes #it hurts trying to fit in but not quite succeeding again and again and again... #this is something that i think i relate to #trying far too hard to belong with someone who is 'only sometimes madly in love with me' #and says that i 'wouldn't be their first choice' #-that person kept switching between wanting me as a friend and a lover and now i am neither #and yet therein lies the problem: if i cared less and gave less effort #perhaps we could’ve worked things out without me trying too hard to “earn” their love #but why would i ever try to care less? #the situation was doomed from the start and i lost a friend in the process #i made this illustration to reflect that the best i could. I think the square motif was particularly obvious— #the canvas itself is a square and the illustration itself has to fit in a square box #everything else i drew would have to fit within this box to maintain the “order” #the colors are all some type of blue with not too much contrast except for the text eyes and teardrop on the figure #i wanted to keep contrast low within this illustration— everything should be “fitting in" after all #for the figure itself i wanted it to be clear that the figure is being forced into that square #its body’s being forced into that half of the box and even then its head is forced downwards #it’s clearly not fitting comfortably but it’s sure trying its hardest to #also also also!!! i wanted to do more angular shapes with this drawing because square and whatever lol :P #i don’t think i was particularly obvious in communicating that in the drawing though #but anyways i just wanted to draw to help process something that happened to me a while back :0 #i still think i love that person but just like how i don’t have a place in their life #i don’t think they have a place in mine and i think i’m starting to make peace with that :D #jaevyart

not annoying at all! i'm so happy that first process post helped and i hope this one can too :]

ok!! here's an overview of the steps (once again with good posture v1, since that's probably more applicable to most ppl lol):

step 1: blocking out the body in three parts: chest, abdomen, and pelvis. these are based a much more human-like shape, as its body without its back attachment looks a lot like a regular torso in construction imo + again, i tend to go for organic rather than mechanical shapes

step 2: the chest!! i first draw in its chest plate based on pectoral muscles, then make them a bit blockier. its collar is much like a collar bone (innovative i kno.....) and then i use the cut off line i established in the base sketch to know how big to make the two plates beneath its chest. i'm,,,,sorry that's not explained very well ;o;

step 3: the abdomen!! this is pretty simple and follows the base sketch almost exactly, with a tummy panel that includes articulation points and is slightly open to reveal a couple threads of blood tubing just beneath the chest.

step 4: the pelvis! the pelvis is 100% modeled pretty directly from a human pelvis with only a couple notable differences: the front extends much further up in the middle and it has mounts that connect to the hydraulics we're about to sketch in. again this really lends a more organic feel to it!

step 5: the extras! here the hydraulic blood ports are added in - first i draw the rod from the side of its chest to the mount on its pelvis, then i draw in the little blood tank. its "backpack" is added here too, which is the mount for its wings and its blood reservoir.

step 6: an additional step to try to show how its limbs attach. the arms are tough for me every time tbh, mostly bc i'm not good at rotating an octagon in my head lol, but those shoulders do overlap a bit with the top chest plate. its legs are wide set and again attach similarly as they might on the pelvis.

i,,,,hope that helped a little!! i'm really not the best explainer and honestly i'm still learning myself how to draw the vs consistently! so don't give up! they're definitely complicated in shape, esp if you're new to drawing or have only drawn human characters, so just keep trying and you'll improve!!

i currently watch 18 of the hermits and am constantly stuck between wanting to watch more hermits and knowing i should probably drop a couple before i get a job again. but also like... what if i watched more anyway....

out of all the people you don't watch i'd probably recommend xisuma the most, i think his videos are super easy to watch even if you havent seen a lot of his content before. he has a great balance of building/redstone/interaction with the other hermits and his episodes are typically on the shorter side but he uploads regularly. i may be biased because i really really love his content but. i think he's great

also totally understand the issue w xb's texture pack lol, it's taken like 4 years of me watching him to adjust to it and i still don't like it buuut. i like his content enough to look past it... he's such a silly guy. although i do find that with quite a lot of his episodes i end up playing them in the background like a podcast rather than paying close attention to what's happening on screen. tbh if you watch keralis and beef you probably get quite a lot of xb content anyways so i wouldn't worry too much about missing out!!

Have you ever wanted to draw something but you fought due to your skill level at the time you decide not to do it

oh definitely. the hardest part of art is starting- and being comfortable making something that’s not perfect. i find drawing something *intentionally* bad to start or like, with stick figures and very basic shapes, is a good way to get over that first hurdle. and there’s also tutorials online for pretty much anything if you don’t even know where to begin!

you never know what you can do if you never try though, and you also can’t improve if you never do- i avoided backgrounds for years & i’ve been slowly getting myself used to them and have been really liking what i’ve done! (not showing the piece i have in mind yet cause it’s for a zine that’s not come out yet hehe)

Basil facts™ -------------

this got so long. im sorry. he is the main character and my special quiet weird moody boy so of course i have to throw him under the bus to talk about all his psychological problems. im grabbing and shaking you, reader. its important to know that basil sucked and now he still sucks but slightly less and in a different way

"Reformed hyper-competitive asshole" who now exclusively hangs out with the least competitive man of all time (Taggart)

He was a parkour guy in middle/high school and was extremely dedicated about it. Downright passionate. He started a group with his friends and it somehow became kind of a big deal? His parents found out he was not doing respectable sports activity and they moved after his sophomore year, which he will never forgive them for doing. He later got extremely mad about how his friends were running the group without him (lol. get it. because they… sorry) and he had this incredibly messy falling out with them. He has not done or talked about parkour since because he is just that bitter about it.

Both of Basil's parents have very serious careers in business and/or management and the personality types to go with it. Being raised by neglectful control freaks with high standards did not do Basil very well. Also, uh, see above. Unsurprisingly, he thoroughly estranged himself after he became an independent adult. Also unsurprisingly, Basil grew up to be quite an asshole!

It was one of Basil's friends who actually wanted to get into wrestling, Basil just tagged along with him to wrestleschool for moral support (and because he had nothing better to do). He ended up getting really into it. Really really into it. His friend accused him of coming along just to show him up (which… was not entirely untrue) and they got into a big argument about it. His friend quit, Basil stuck with it, and eventually got accelerated into the intermediate class (which Taggart and Chip were in).

He used to have a seasonal crab fishing job, which he quit when he got into wrestling, and then he quit wrestling, so he went back to his seasonal crab fishing job, then quit it again to mill about at home. Nowadays he occasionally helps Taggart do work at their wrestleschool (since they spend so much time using the facilities there anyway). Is it technically wrestling? Yes, but not to Basil, because he's "just helping his friend out." Whatever helps him sleep at night, I guess!!

He still really likes wrestling, but he refuses to do it anymore. He fully psyched himself out of it because he realized that, despite everything hes done in his adult life (estranging himself from his folks, roughing it out on his own, working miserably on a fishing boat for years) he still grew up to sound exactly like his parents, who he hates. You know, just a bit of a majorly crippling life-identity crisis. He'd get over it faster if he just talked with anyone about it or went to therapy (but he wont) (because then what about the story??? the plot??? the narrative??????). Instead, he's just locked himself down into some sort of holding pattern as he tries to casually and nonchalantly absorb how to be a different (better?) person from Taggart, who is the kindest and nicest person he's ever known in his life. Is that love or what? Well, probably not to Basil, because his parents never really taught him that. lol. lmao. he has so many hangups

Basil's known Taggart for like ~5 years now which is probably the longest time he's ever been friends with someone without having a disastrous falling out. Good job Basil! Keep up... the good work... heh :)

He's fine with either bay-zel (like the herb) or bazzle (like the name). For a time he used to arbitrarily pick one or the other just as an excuse to give people shit for getting his name "wrong."
