Over a year ago, I drew my first Rain World fanart! This is Zero Fables: The Superstructure in all its uhh... mouse-scribbled glory. Some of this is outdated of course, like the multiple chambers probably aren't a thing anymore, etc...

Shortly after drawing their structure, I'd give them a puppet design -

(on the left is one of their local group, Reflections of Drifting Light, or Drift for short.)

A headshot of the second picture used to be my icon! I almost named my blog zerofables as well, but I didn't want to use them as a mascot or anything like that, so I ended up going with Flicker instead.

Zero Fables is a part of an experimental local group stationed across an archipelago. They're an old, cryptic iterator who speaks in loops and tangents. In contrast to common teachings, Fables believes that the cycle is to be celebrated, and the true answer to the Great Problem - the ultimate escape from suffering - is to love existence itself.

Fables was dressed as an echo due to their relation with void fluid experimentation. It was a bleak warning for their possible end. But they didn't care, and they were pretty blasé about their opinions. Many of Fables' citizens hated that Fables did not fear becoming an echo like they did.

There's also the Mystic, a descendant of slugcats Fables purposed many years before. It and Fables have a special bond. Mystic has been my banner image this entire year actually...

uhm. cringe rain world oc, she’s like of all of mascot horror made an iterator. his name is “Distant Happy Times” and was a iterator used as ascension propaganda to the ancient youths, back in the old days many younglings would have field trips to their can (decorated in a much more child friendly manner and filled with toys)

years later, her can has been left to rot and the now friendly iterator has become a a bit… aggressive, all ways of communication with this iterator has shut down and the only way for anyone to talk to him… would be to send a slugcat to give her a message.

Let me tell y'all the story about how I became incredibly emotionally attached to a bright orange stuffed dinosaur because of Disco Elysium (kind of.) I was at Shopper's Drug Mart with my friends and we saw these matching dinos, there was a teal brachiosaurus, a lime green t-rex, and an appallingly orange triceratops. I immediately gravitated towards the triceratops because he was chibi and adorable, so we all decided to each get a dino.

We bought them and paraded around my neighborhood, but then it came time to name them. Everyone figured out a name for their dino except for me. We then walked into a dollar store and my friend purchased an itty bitty prybar which gave me an idea. You see, a good friend of mine who I happen to have a massive crush on introduced me to Disco Elysium a few days prior and I, for reasons unknown even to myself, really loved the prybar. I cherished that digital prybar like it was my own flesh and blood, and the tiny one that my friend kept in his hands was a reminder of that former joy. I held my little dino in front of my face and crescened him Kim, after Kim Kitsuragi from Disco Elysium because he's orange, like Kim's jacket.

I sent a photo of Kim to the good friend whom I have a massive crush on and he was delighted that I named my dino after a character he introduced me to. We all agreed to bring our dinos to rehearsal for our school musical -which we were all in- the next day and I showed Kim to my good friend and he loved him, and especially loved the fact that I named him Kim. I brought Kim to every show after that and he became a sort of mascot for the play, making an appearance in the show, and everyone loved the dinos but Kim was definitely my crush's favourite. We declared that Kim is our son, and sometimes I would puppeteer him while he recited Kim Kitsuragi quotes in a very solid impression. One night he even brought his little Survivor slugcat plush and the two stuffed animals got married. Now Kim has been upgraded to Bed Time Plush status and I love him so much.

hi babydog!! um saw u got an ask abt rainworld a bit ago and i looove rainworld so i came to say a little more about it Σ:3 um yes rainworld very good definitely recommend! it has a bit of a bad rep for being "too difficult" (which. its definitely a difficult game. pawshake with u on the "didnt get to grow up playing video games and now Cant Play Anything" (+ general. bad motor skills..) but also just generally its a hard game. i only ever play with friends who can help me if i get stuck lol (u can Literally be carried in multiplayer. which is a lifesaver since i Suck Badly at parkour) (also added bonus of multiplayer: snuggle up all cosy with friends in nice den and hibernate)) but most of that comes from the fact it was made moreso to be a complex realistic simulated ecosystem (that also happens to be playable) and. surviving as a small creature fairly low on the food chain is Difficult. but the creatures and worldbuilding r very fun!! and its a Very species experience to get to crawl around as a littol creachure. um i think i had more i was gonna say but i forgor. so. have a babydog slugcat instead Σ:D also general fanart question: do u still prefer to be drawn as ur gsd mascot? or prefer more husky wolfdog?

i know. the two winning fandoms in the poll i did were rw and hk, not rw and fl. but i didn't have any ideas for rw/hk and i like putting creatures in situations and i think 'slugcats, suddenly in the neath' is a fun situation to draw. i had more thoughts, maybe even enot/inv thoughts (secret joke dating sim slugcat... common theme in fl of love stories... it all fits), but i think this is enough for now. it ended up rather slugcat-heavy, maybe i should also consider the opposite situation, just casually dropping fallen london characters into the world of rain world.

explanation/context for some more specific parts (for both fl and rw stuff) beneath the cut:

rivulet holding karma flower: in rw, your karma increases when you survive another cycle, and decreases when you die. a karma flower keeps your karma level at the same level when you die. could be vaguely relevant to the immortality stuff the evolution story is somewhat about. y'know

"no rain?": fallen london takes place in the neath, which is, surprise surprise, underground. it wouldn't have the frequent lethal rain cycles that rivulet (or any other slugcat) is used to

rivulet biting some guy's hand: the youthful naturalist, an important character in evolution, has shown a fondness for tinned eels. rivulet would probably also enjoy tinned eels. and thus, the BITING YOU BITING YOU BITING YOU

artificer being held: the artificer causes explosions and is on a quest to kill an important figure. april of the calendar council also causes explosions and is also on a quest to kill an important figure. thus, the holding. clearly the artificer is the best possible calendar mascot

arti contemplating a purple knife and her dead slugpups: purple knife image is the image for ambition: nemesis. the ambition where you avenge a loved one

birds on train tracks: there are terror birds on the train tracks usually. that's just a thing in fallen london. miros birds in rain world run over long stretches of land and are, generally speaking, fatal to encounter. i don't think the great hellbound railway in this 'au' would be, uh, particularly useable. the person being eaten is unimportant

saint in the mirror: parabola is, to summarise things too much, a dream world that can sometimes be seen through mirrors. no significance to saint being there i just thought they fitted visually although maybe also thematically. (but parabola is generally warm, not cold)

5p and two masters: i'm not sure there'd be a reason for the masters of the bazaar wanting to make a deal with five pebbles. but anyway there has been at least one time in the history of the neath where someone was turned into an island to prevent death, and five pebbles is a sort-of-organic supercomputer with the rot (self-inflicted, by accident) which is slowly killing him, and also he has a city already on top of his structure so shoving a mountain shard in him would be like... double-living-city??

the others i think are more self-explanatory if you know anything about either game then you can probably guess what's going on

Working name... The Shapeshifter, or the Orb, but. we will take suggestions for better names if anyone has one.

It... shapeshifts. can take on aspects of the form and attributes of other slugcats and creatures. Always keeps its colors and patterning, tho! It favors the form of a slugpup with the ruffles that rivulet has. (because that's what we always play as when co-op times happen)

Thank you! Unfortunately the Wayfarer is kind of like Flicker-the-character, in that they're more of a design that turned into a sort of mascot/sona-thing. So they don't have much in the way of lore.

I swear I'll post about my actual RW OCs one day soon maybe >>;

Here's a fun fact though: Originally I was going to give them raptor-esque wing-arms. I like the current arms too, but sometimes I'm tempted to make it an alt look:

I decided against it initially because one, I didn't want to stray too far from the look of a slugcat at the time. And two, because RW's planet, or what we see of it, doesn't seem to have any feathered animals. The closest we get is the tufts on lizard heads. There's at least no bird-like feathered wings. I mean, you can even argue that fluffy creatures like Saint might not even have true "fur" compared to what's on our planet. Something something analogous structures? If I'm using the right term there?

But also I love wings I love feathers and I love having fun so. 🤷 If RW can have Straight Up Just Centipedes But Electric, maybe something similar to bird wings could evolve too.

Choo Choo Charles- Horror game where you fight a giant spider train named Charles on an island. Hare's choosing violence. Widow attempted to jump onto Charles. They named their own train the "Screw You Zeus" or something of that effect

Rain World- Survival game where you play as a slug cat in a post-apocalyptic world. The gang as slugcats. They get to hide in the hidey-holes during the rain. There's more bugs

Inscryption- Horror game about cards and such. The 4 correspond with the Scrybes, Hare and Leshy, Crawfish and Grimora, Widow and Magnificus, Bard and P03. They adopt the Lonely Wiz into the group for a short time

Billie Bustup- 3d platformer with a lot of villain songs. The gang as goats. Someone sings along with Fantoccio's song

Silt- Horror game in the ocean. The gang try to mindhack each other. It's in the ocean with aliens and occasionally you get teleported into the straight up void. No one's having a good time

Garten of Banban- Trying it's best to be a mascot horror. Raven gives constructive criticism to Banban with the monster designs.

Undertale- This rpg my beloved <3. The gang as kids. No one knows if Bard, Hare, and Raven are monsters or humans. Metattons show gets run over by conspiracy theories. Toriel is concerned for them

Fnaf- The og mascot horror. Bard goes on about how badly designed the robots are. Hare and Afton are fighting. Widow's planning to burn down the building yet again. Foxy is running away from Crawfish

This sounds awesome.
