How would the 3 boys propose to the reader
How they propose to you
Bosch, Jamie Siu & Luke Sullivan x Reader (separate). Reader is neutral Sorry this took a while to come out!! I'm finally free from uni and i have a lot of requests lined up I will get through slowly so thank you for your patience.
Bosch is an anxious mess. You both love each other so very much but theres that teeny tiny voice in his head that always makes him doubt and act on impulse. But this is something he knows he's wanted to do for the longest time, it took a lot of courage to even act upon making preparations for you. It's your 4th anniversary of being together. He first makes you a home cooked meal from his home country, a meal which he loves. You tell him how good it is and that he is too sweet for cooking for you. He then lets you get ready to then take you out to a very special spot. A park that sits on the harbour of Metro City, beautifully lit up at night. Walking up to the railing, you lean on it and breathe in the fresh air. Bosch then comes up besides you as he puts his hands on your waist, leaning in to give you a kiss on your temple.
"Thank you for this Bosch, you're too sweet." "It's the least I could do. Happy anniversary, but uhm... I actually have a present for you." You look at him with a soft look, "what is it?" you question. "I want you to close your eyes for a second". Nodding, turn to fully face him and close your eyes. You hear some rustling before he tells you to open your eyes. You bring your hand up to you mouth as your eyes widen in shock, letting out a small gasp. You're presented with a velvety red box fitted with a small and classy ring crusted with small diamonds. "[y/n], you're the love of my life, a-and... I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I know I'm not the best boyfriend sometimes and I have my moments but, I hope you can accept me... Will you marry me?". Jumping up and down before leaping into his arms. "Yes!" you exclaim as a few tears fall down your face. He stands back up and fully accepts your embrace. "I love you so much, thank you [y/n].
Jamie would most definitely propose to you in the sleekest way possible. He will have everything planned out down to the exact time, he has a mini speech prepped and the perfect plan to catch you off guard. Jamie would also be confident at first and kind of fumble a little bit but he's well aware you are the one for him and he is the one for you. He has no doubts about you saying yes once he pops the question and that fills him with so much pride and joy. Time moves so fast when you're with your boyfriend, you have been together for 3 years already yet it feels like you've known each other and been together for so much longer. Having gotten you ready for a fancy dinner date at an elegant chinese restaurant that Jamie has been meaning to try with you. You both went out shopping to purchase coordinating outfits, the colours of your outfits are black and yellow. Mostly black decorated with gold jewellery.
Once at the restaurant, you are both seated next to an open window which has the perfect view of Metro City. "This is so nice baby, thank you for booking this place." Taking his hand in yours Jamie looks at you with a satisfied look, "It's no problem, you know I'd do anything for you. I am the great Jamie Siu after all!" He says jokingly. You giggle at his statement. After having a delicious and filling dinner, you both are waiting for your desserts to arrive to your table. Little words are exchanged as you stare into eachothers eyes and hands intertwined on the table, the silence comfortable. The silence is broken by a waitress coming up and handing you your desserts however there was something off with yours. Your plate was flat and had writing on it, more specifically the words "Will you...", once you read the words you see Jamie walk up to you and get on one knee. Your heart starts beating fast but a bright smile decorates your face. "Marry me?" Jamie asks, a yellow lined black velvet ring box displaying a beautiful golden ring with a decently sized diamond placed on top. "Jamie!" You express, "Of course!!! Oh my gosh!!" He takes your hand and slides the sing on. "[Y/n], when I met you through Yang, I never thought you would end up being mine some day. But here we are, you are now officially my fiancée. I love you dearly and I don't know if I could ever express that fully in words but thank you." Jamie stands up and cups your face, bringing you in for a gentle kiss.
Luke, oh Luke. Luke would definitely have a mini freak out to himself over how he should propose to you. He is a confident man but sometimes he goes through weird moments of weakness where he's just unsure. Luke takes his time and never rushes into things so when he realises he needs to propose to you, he thought about everything carefully and wanted to make sure it was something you would like and that you were sure to say yes to him. While he is a bit of a chiller, I don't think Luke would be overly romantic but would still try his best to be, you deserve it after all. Having spent almost 4 years together, Luke decides it's time. There are a few places in mind that Luke would want to take you on, deciding on taking you to the beach. A quiet and calming beach. It would be the perfect setting, having a nice dinner first then taking you on a romantic walk along the beach to watch the sun set and finally get on one knee and confess his never ending love for you and ask you to marry him.
"Mmm! Luke have you tried this? It tastes so good!" Picking up a piece of your dinner on your fork and putting in front of Luke so he can have a taste. "Wow, yeah that is really good, want to try mine?" You nod. After having dinner it was time to now go on a quiet stroll on the sand. Holding onto Lukes large hand and leaning your head on his arm. Luke can feel his nervousness grow, you're perfect in his eyes. "Is something wrong love?" You ask, concern laced in your voice. "Haha, yeah. I'm just fine. Don't worry your little head." Luke brings you into a side hug, his hand resting on your hip. "There is one thing I want to talk to you about though." Stopping to stand in front of you, he takes your hand in his and rubs his thumb over your knuckles. "So... I've been wanting to ask you this for a while and for the longest time I thought I wasn't ready but every day I spend with you, I want to always be by your side. You make me so proud and I feel so powerful when I see you cheering for me in battles. I'm the luckiest man alive [y/n]. With that..." pulling out a box with a silver ring inside with a small rectangular diamond placed on top. "Will you marry me?" It takes you a few seconds to respond, you feel so joyed and happy and you needed a moment to process the sweetness of Luke's words. With shaky hands you cup Lukes face in your hands and place a kiss on his lips. "Yes" you giggle. "I truly love you so much, I'm glad to now be your fiancée" Luke picks you up, sharing laughs as he spins you around. Taking in the cool breeze of the beach with the cool water brushing up to your feet.

MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Jungkook moved his thumb over the titanium ball of his eyebrow piercing, focusing too much on the slippery touch of the piece of jewelry while his mind was busy with just one thing: Y/n. It had been weeks since she left, and he still wasn't able to understand how all of it happened in front of him. As much as he tried to find an explanation to it, it just made no sense. Even if it could've happened right up in his nose, he wasn't able to tell how she could get all the information. She didn't know Korean to understand anything that could be of use, and she was too busy trying to get her ass in problems to worry about his issues.
He found the phone, he found the texts, but there was something off about all of it. Sanhyuk clearly didn't want her as a scoop -he was convinced there was someone else, and that was why Jihu was still under supervision in one of the safe houses that he had spread all over Korea.
Either way, soon the word was spread all over his family. The seven members of the Bangtan family agreed on keeping that deal with Sanhyuk as a secret so it wouldn't get any bigger, and also congratulated Jungkook after taking a good decision. He knew that if he hadn't done what Sanhyuk wanted, the other six bosses would've jumped at his throat and also forced him to leave his position -the same position his dear father left him.
Although he couldn't disagree more about the decision...
—Don —he rolled his eyes when he heard Siu's voice breaking the silence.
—I told you not to call me like that.
—Sorry —the young man apologized, taking a hesitating step towards his desk—. Jihu said he wants to talk.
That sentence got Jungkook moving his eyes from the gray wall to the gangster, confused at the sudden change of opinion from the person who used to be his man of trust. But it wasn't like he was able to think straight, when his brain was focused on getting answers finally.
Soon he stood up from his chair and was ordering his driver to get him to the same place he locked Jihu in, and that everyone in his crew knew of -because he made sure they'd take turns to look after him, and also create awareness indirectly by seeing what could happen to them if they ever thought about betraying him. Not like it really worried him. In general, he was well-respected, most of the people working for him would look down whenever he passed by, and would take a bullet for him any time. But it was better to make sure something like that wouldn't happen again.
He stepped inside the room, seeing a beaten Jihu kneeling on the floor, with both of his arms on each side of his body. He barely could recognize him, his swollen face -by the several hits- were covered in blood, that was rolling down the -already- dry stains.
—Hope you have something interesting to say —Jungkook mentioned, lazily letting his head fall slightly to the back.
—I really don't know what he wants from Y/n —he assured him.
Jungkook breathed deeply, slightly closing his eyes before he was completely focused on the man kneeling in front of him.
—You took her to him —after reminding him that, he squatted in front of Jihu—, didn't you? —the old man just looked down— I'm sure you also kept him updated on everything related to Y/n, so tell me —grabbing him by the hair, nails almost digging on his scalp, to force his barely open eyes to stare into his own—: you did all of that without a fucking explanation? Do you really think I will buy that you acted blindly? —his tattooed hand pulled from his hair, gaining a complaint from the man.
—Sometimes you just need to act blindly —he muttered—. You've kept coming here time and time again, every day, and you always get the same answer. I don't really know what he wants to do with her.
—And I'll keep doing it until you speak —Jungkook sighed—. Look, I don't really care about how much he paid you —he stood up, cleaning the sweat and grease on his black slacks—, but I want to know what the fuck he's planning.
He dug his hand in the right pocket, moving his fingers over his phone to reach the cigarettes. Somehow, the mere action of placing the cigarette in front of his parted and broken lips was enough for Jihu to accept the invitation, lighting it up as soon as the orange part was trapped in his mouth. The tip lighted slightly when he breathed in, later letting all the thick smocking spill from his nostrils.
—You know me more than anyone, and you know that if you're good to me, I'll be good to you —Jungkook assured him.
But that comment only made Jihu scoff, as if he weren't the one in a disadvantaged position.
—You're just a kid, playing to be his father —he ironically mentioned, barely understandable, because he still tried to keep the cigarette in between his lips.
—Could be —Jungkook nodded—. I'm still smarter than you. At least enough to know when to keep my mouth shut.
Right after saying that, he took the cigarette and turned it off, rubbing the burning tip against Jihu's forehead, making him whine and scream in pain at the first contact.
—Y/n is the only reason you're still alive —he mentioned, throwing the cigarette away—. If you aren't going to be useful, I won't hesitate to kill you right now.
It was the first time, after all of his visits, that Jungkook was threatening him with death. After many times going there, trying to get to a solution that would work both for Y/n and his family, his patience was up, and so was Jihu's chance to drag that moment forever. It was as if the mention of those words actually scared Jihu, because the way he looked at him from the ground completely changed.
✸ ✸ ✸
Y/n cornered herself, sitting as far away from the door as possible when she heard the steps getting close to it. The sudden lightning made her close her eyes instantly at the momentary pain, after forcing her eyes to such a sudden change. It took her too long to get used to it, because when she opened them again, it was too late. The same man who always took her her lunch, was grabbing her by the arm and pulling her whole body up so she could walk along with him without giving any problems.
A big impulse to get away from his grip was suddenly forgotten, when she saw the red finger marks around her wrists.
Whatever she did, Sanhyuk had a punishment for it. He said he wouldn't tolerate her looking at him wrongly, and he meant it. Every time she wasn't able to control her own eyes, she'd be reminded. Every time her tongue slipped one of her comments, a reaction would come right after. She ended up being aware of every muscle of her own body, and learnt to hide her own thoughts so she wouldn't feel tempted to say them out loud.
She was dragged through the house, stopping in front of a white door -that was opened by a tall and slim woman that looked down at her. And considering the poor conditions she was in, she understood.
She forgot the last time she showered -although she was sure that it wasn't in that place, not even once-, just like she forgot most of the taste of food -because she wasn't given anything else other than rice. And through her mind crossed the idea that she was being treated like a dog, but she was sure that most dogs were treated nicely than her.
The man pushed her body inside the wide bathroom, with the woman dodging her body before closing the door behind her.
—Shower —was the only word she heard from her.
Y/n wanted to refuse, she didn't want to shower while being watched. But she knew the consequences to her words, she knew what would happen the second she pronounced the "N" only. Actually, the darkness she was surrounded by was one of her punishments, because the previous day she refused eating -thinking that it'd force Sanhyuk's men to bring him to her.
Breathing deeply, she started taking her stinky clothes off. It was the first time she was disgusted by her own smell and her own body, moving her arms the least before stepping into the shower.
Despite the pressure, it was the first time in a long while her whole body felt relaxed, even lighter, under the warm water, throwing her head back while closing her eyes -as she tried to get as much of it as possible. Although, not too long after, she heard the female voice hurrying her to finish.
Only covered with a white towel, she was pushed to the chair in front of the wide mirror, where she could only see the form of her figure because of the steam. She didn't know what was going on, she just let the woman do whatever she wanted to her, seeing her through the corner of her eyes every single time she put her hands on her. She pulled her hair while brushing it and drying it, put some makeup on her face and threw all the tools she used over the sink.
It was weird. It felt weird to see her own reflection after so long, and it felt sad seeing all the marks and bruises she was indirectly protected from pointing out. She managed to get an idea of where the wounds were placed, by the way some spots in her face hurted, but she didn't think it would be that bad. And after getting the makeup done, the woman was only able to hide the biggest bruises, but the line of dry blood on her broken lip, just like the most recent -and darkest- bruise wasn't totally covered with the work she tried to do.
And it wasn't like she cared either.
When she got up from the chair, she saw a black plastic bag flying to her body -and she barely managed to catch it in the air-, followed by a pair of shoes that collapsed against the floor, before she was ordered to put them on.
New underwear, new clothes... There was something wrong going on. Although she didn't manage to see through it all until she was dragged outside the house for the first time, getting inside a gray car. Just like the day she got there, filled and surrounded by tall and thick men that wouldn't hesitate to stop every attempt at running away.
Her eyes squinted when they entered an empty pub. And judging by how bright it was outside, it didn't surprise her, but it made her feel out of place, wearing that black velvet dress, tight to her body, at that time of the day.
She kept walking through all the place, suddenly seeing some faces that seemed familiar. She wasn't sure of when she had seen some of those people, but she was sure that it wasn't in Sanhyuk's place. Or maybe it was indeed there, but losing contact with any kind of person for two weeks tricked her mind.
Her heart stopped beating when she stepped inside an office, and she was able to recognize that wide back under a black blazer, she'd be able to point out that posture out of a lot of people. And judging by his reaction when he spotted her, as she walked past him and towards the desk -motioned by Sanhyuk-, she was sure Jungkook was as surprised as her to see her there.
—I thought you'd like to see her —he shrugged, wrapping an arm around her waist—. After all, you've spent some time together —looking up to her, and switching from Korean to English, he squeezed her side—. Don't be rude, say hi.
Gulping thick, and knowing how not doing it would end up, she muttered a greeting, looking down almost immediately.
She was ashamed of the state she was in -desperate to hide the bruises and cuts that the make up wasn't able to hide-, but she also was proud, trying to hide the help she was craving while avoiding making eye contact. But it wasn't like Jungkook needed her eyes to speak, her body language was enough and Sanhyuk's possessive and cocky expression was also speaking volumes. He still looked for more though, scrolling his eyes to her arm, down to the marks on her wrists and her elbows.
—I'm treating her like a queen. Better than you, actually —Sanhyuk mocked them both—. Just like she deserves.
Jungkook had to make his best to control himself, feeling his own fists tightening next to his thighs. He knew that, when Sanhyuk interrupted the talk about territories, he'd do something to get on his nerves. But he didn't think that he'd use Y/n for it. And he almost got away with what he wanted, especially when he spanked her ass in front of him before he told her to leave them alone again.
There was nothing new coming from that meeting. Sanhyuk was the one who called him in, yet he still paid no attention to what was being said, there was no interest on his side.
—This is fun —Sanhyuk chuckled—. Any other time, you wouldn't have come. But since I have something you want, you ran here. It's so fun when tables are turned.
—Not for long though —Jungkook assured, getting up from his seat.
—We'll see —he pointed to the door—. But for now, you're the one with the tail in between your thighs.
✸ ✸ ✸
After coming back from that short visit to the pub, she was escorted back to her room. Although there was light back in there.
—Boss said that you did well. This is your reward —the voice said on her back, before he closed the door and locked it.
Breaking down, she ripped the dress and threw the heels against the wall, falling down on her knees as she hid her face on the mattress.
The fact that she had to consider a glimpse of light a reward was the only thing left she needed that day to fully lose herself, losing count of the time she spent in that position and in that state. At least until she heard voices again.
She rushed to the closet, trying to find a t-shirt, to at least cover the only naked part of her body before the door was opened. And while she expected the same man that would always bring her her lunch, she rushed to grab the shoe she threw to the wall when she saw Jungkook being pushed inside the room, before the door was closed right after.
Fast, he dodged the stiletto, but right after she was the one all over him, hitting his body annoyed, unable to understand what he was doing there. The volume of her complaints kept increasing, forcing Jungkook to cover her mouth with his hand, and holding her hand with the other, forcing her to stay still.
—I'm not supposed to be here. Shut up if you don't want either of us getting in trouble.
Days after sending her to Sanhyuk's place, he made sure to get a contact that would at least keep him updated on how she was doing. But looking at her in that moment, without all the makeup, he could tell that she was in a worse state than she was warned about. He was able to tell she looked slimmer when she got inside the office, but he had wished that was the only thing that was wrong with her. Up close, he was aware of the barely perceptible black eye, and the light bruises on her cheeks.
For a hot second, she felt grateful to see him there, and she'd have jumped right in his arms if she hadn't got back to her senses fast, getting rid of his hands and stepping back.
—What are you doing here?
—I just wanted to check on you.
Jungkook only wanted the contact temporarily, just in case there was a strange move from Sanhyuk's side. At least until he managed to find a way to get her back neatly. But he abused his power, and increased the money he'd pay after seeing her in his office. Clearly, his source wasn't as honest or aware of most of what was going on, because there was a lot of information that was being kept from him.
—I don't need anything from you —she hit his arm—. I'm not your problem anymore, so leave —she pushed him, although he barely moved—. Leave —she hit him again—. You had no issue sending me here, so leave just like that.
While her lip trembled with her words, Jungkook was able to see that thin line of blood on it. Unable to control himself, he cupped her face and rubbed his thumb under the wound, surprised by how accepting she was of his touch.
—I'm sorry —he whispered.
Y/n was taken aback by those two words, and the clear sign of regret in his eyes for the first time since they met. Both of them could feel his phone shaking in his pants constantly, but they still stayed like that.
—I'll take you out of here. I promise —Jungkook assured her again.
—Who says I want to go back with you, huh? —she pushed him again— Why would I trust you? It was so fucking easy for you...
—It wasn't —he stopped her—. You really made me have no choice. And the only reason I'm here right now is because I want you to be okay.
He was going to continue, but the constant vibration in his pocket made him sigh and finally reach for his phone. Face completely pale when he realized it was too late to get out of there like he was planning to.
—What? —Y/n asked.
—Sanhyuk is back.
If she needed a better explanation, Sanhyuk's voice from somewhere in his house confirmed what Jungkook was saying, making them look at each other nervously, as if that would give them an answer on what to do.

Late night nonsense/三更半夜吹水
Tumblr media
Couldn't sleep (I've an insomnia problem and it acts up every now and then), so I decided to practise writing some 繁體字.
The four random characters I decided to practise on were 飛、龍、蕭 & *龜 because I've had tremendous difficulty learning to write them before.
I'm still not good at them obviously (and probably never will be — I definitely cannot be a calligraphy artist in this life! 笑), but compared to when I first tried writing them, this is considered a marked improvement…
Anyway the point I wanted to make was I realised after the fact, that my few practice lines of the four characters ended up sounding like some kind of 成語 (idiom) !
「飛龍蕭龜」?
🇭🇰🇲🇴 fei¹ lung⁴ siu¹ gwai¹/🀄 fēi lóng xiāo guī
「龜蕭龍飛」?
🇭🇰🇲🇴 gwai¹ siu¹ lung⁴ fei¹/🀄 guī xiāo lóng fēi
「龍飛龜蕭」?
🇭🇰🇲🇴 lung⁴ fei¹ gwai¹ siu¹/🀄 lóng fēi guī xiāo
「龍飛蕭龜」?
🇭🇰🇲🇴 lung⁴ fei¹ siu¹ gwai¹/🀄 lóng fēi xiāo guī
I think I like the sound of 「龍飛龜蕭」 best! And I love that I can even give this “idiom” an arbitrary meaning because:
龍 (🇭🇰🇲🇴 lung⁴/🀄lóng) — dragon,
飛 (🇭🇰🇲🇴 fei¹/🀄 fēi) — fly,
龜 (🇭🇰🇲🇴 gwai¹/🀄 guī) — tortoise/turtle,
蕭 (🇭🇰🇲🇴 siu¹/🀄 xiāo) — mournful/miserable/dejected.
So whichever combo, it'll all mean basically, “flying dragon, dejected tortoise”. Now…what kind of metaphor can this make? Hmm…
Left up to me, I'll say this can be a metaphor for being envious and/or melancholic? Like, the tortoise seeing the dragon taking to the skies and thus feels depressed that it can't do the same? Think that's good? (笑)
* Edited-to-add: My keyboard throws up two variations for the character for tortoise/turtle, 龜 & 龜. I prefer using the former as it's closer to how it looks in actual handwriting, but I realise some websites/dictionary apps may not register it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If it doesn't show for you, just know it's actually 龜.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
↑ if UniHan is screwing things up, these are the variations that are turning up for me and what I see.

MISC HEADCANON ; ROA EDITION
Roa has no memories of the face or the name of the angel that transferred its life to her, she only knows it happened and they had known since she had been a child. It did insist on being of a lower rank, likely explaining why the transfer went all wrong, not giving her only its life but part of its soul and abilities.
When she stopped being human, the memory of everyone who knew her was wiped. In history, she never existed.
Most Humans tend to avoid her out of an instinct that tells them she's a being that shouldn't be there. By supernatural, she tends to be mistaken for a half-blood.
Roa suffers from phantom pain on her back from time to time, the angel's memory of missing wings she never had.
She has no interest or intentions to learn how to proeprly make use of any of the abilities other than the ones kicking in automatically like faster healing or a boost of her physical strength.
Roa's favorite hobby is everything connected to sports, she has tried out about everything there is and found her favorites in archery, material arts, and soccer.
She doesn't like to be touched because it seems humans are uncomfortable by the feeling received and she adapted to not really liking it with anyone, always dodging Siu's attempt of hugging. The exceptions are one-night stands she gives in to here and then or when she's out, partying and dancing.
In contrast to her interest in sports, she still enjoys everything many young women also do: shopping & styling but it's a low priority while on bounty hunts.
Roa is loud, if she's around, unless she desires to hide, her presence is clear. It's why the others tend to compare her with a thunderstorm, one hard to ignore.
She never shows pity and generally believes "better safe than sorry" when they disagree about killing a target. However, she never goes against the will of the team, once a vote is made. Roa is the one going on low-rank hunts on her own often.
Roa is aware of the angel's personality that sometimes comes out, the reason why she made a blood pact with Inha, binding them together and making it impossible for the angel to try and kill them. She allows Inha to draw from her unknown ability, sometimes leaving her exhausted.
In contrast to all of that, Roa seeks company at bars most often, she likes to meet people she never has to call back.
She fits into the cliche of ignoring all of her problems and going through life by force, no matter how challenging or the consequences.
Roa enjoys fast driving, she has several licenses and participated in more than one race over the years.

Piofiore: Episodio 1926 Part 4 - Yang Route
Tumblr media
Time for my favourite man, Yang!! Honestly, just seeing Fei and Lan already makes me love this route, they're so cute. And trust them to make me crave yumcha now because they're talking about siu mai and other food🥲 Lmao when Yang was saying how they didn't need to worry about the Falzone even if there's a new boss, and Lili was like are you sure, and then Yang's like, so you think we should kill them while we still have a chance, as expected of my woman🤣🤣🤣 Yang putting his head on Lili's shoulder as he reads Moby Dick is very cute hahaha. Rui isn't as hot as Yuan but he does seem quite interesting! Lol, I kinda feel sorry for Rui that he's stuck between two crazy people (Yang and Yuan). I was so scared for Lili when Yuan started strangling her! She's already struggling with her feelings wondering if Yang would just dump her one day if he gets bored of her and now this guy is coming around ready to just kill her. But yeah, Yuan is definitely like Yang back in the day, ruthless with no care for anyone, or I guess we should say Yang back in the day was just like Yuan.
Tumblr media
I'm so glad the twins exist, I love how protective they are of Lili and how much they care for her, so cute. I wonder what's Rui's problem with Lili though. I was so scared that the twins would die, I'm so glad they didn't, it was so sweet how they were willing to give up their lives to protect Lili. I wonder why Orlok attacked Lili though... Does the church want another key maiden? But Dante and Nicola are dead... Anyway, I felt so bad for the twins that they felt so frustrated at being helpless against Orlok. I'm glad Lili told the twins that their existence is what saved her when she first came to the Lao Shu because it's so true, both Lan and Fei are so important to me as well, and a big reason as to why I love Yang's route. Teo the annoying guy has appeared again🥲 Trust him to use Josef as a hostage to make Orlok do his bidding. I quite enjoy how Lili is having it quite rough thinking and balancing her moral compass alongside living with the Lao Shu who live upon people's deaths and misfortune in a much more obvious way than the Falzone and them do. I always thought she was quite accepting of how terrible Yang and his guys were so it's nice to see her troubled over it and thinking about whether she can really continue to stay here living off the pain of others. Wow, Yuan killed Rui's whole family just because he needed a place to live and he keeps doing stuff like that wherever he goes? What a crazy guy. I don't know how Rui feels having to follow the guy who killed his family.. Rui and the twins hanging out eating sweets is cute lol. On the other hand, Yang's childhood is something to be expected I guess, other than the fact that Yang killed the human trafficker (who was actually Yuan's dad) who beat him and other kids all the time. I didn't expect the extent to which Yuan was involved in Yang's life, to actually be the one who raised Yang and taught him everything.
Tumblr media
Even though Yuan is probably a terrible monster, I can see why he's disappointed with what Yang has "become" because of Lili's influence. So cute how Rui likes food just as much as the twins and lol at Yang knowing his favourite food and how he enjoys his food. I'm so glad Lili finally gave Rui a piece of her mind because he has been very rude to her and she's been way too tolerant towards him. I love how Lili remembered the self-defence tips she learnt from Fei and Lan, and also remembered the stuff Yang told her about Orlok, which helped her and Rui escape from Orlok's attack. So glad to see Rui respect her more but still be like a tsundere about it lmao. Btw, it was so funny how Fei and Lan felt like they were dying because they ate too much lol, they're so dramatic it's hilarious. Anyway, I'm so used to Yang talking shit that when Lili agreed with Lan and said she was going home, I was like what are they angry about?? Hahaha. I didn't expect Yang to apologise though, he really has become a real softie towards her. Even though I did feel like it was random, I think it goes to show that Lili is starting to notice and feel like she can express her feelings for and to Yang much more than before, mainly because he's much kinder and less likely to murder her now lol. I loled when Rui asked if he could finish his report after they got home in the evening, poor dude just wanted to give his report and had to wait hours for them to make up with each other haha.
Tumblr media
So happy to see Rui apologise to Lili for treating her like crap before because he thought she was just a freeloader who didn't do anything but look pretty. I feel so bad for Orlok in this route. He's being tormented by his desire to not hurt innocent people alongside his desire to protect Josef. Teo is really such a shit😠 I didn't realise how much Rui's family getting killed in front of him by Yuan affected Rui. It seems like he really does want revenge on Yuan. I definitely prefer Rui over Lee haha. It's actually really cute seeing how considerate and kind Rui is towards Lili now. I'm surprised Yang could be poisoned, I guess I'm too used to Yang being like a monster hahaha. Lili taking the initiative and kissing Yang deeply was such a good moment. One thing I have to say is though, even though Yang should have the best bed scenes, there's no CGs or much description at all, I'm so sad! Where's the passion and excitement from the original route?! Anyway, Rui telling Lili that he initially hated her because he thought she was just like him, following someone he was forced to follow because he needed to survive, just made my heart break. His genuine and heartfelt apology to her made me see him in a much better light.
Not that I think Josef could really run that far even if he left with Emilio but STILL! His reasons, like dudeee, do you not recognise the pain Orlok is going through trying to save you? Why are you making Orlok have to fulfil a mission he doesn't want to do and kill people he doesn't want to kill?? Seeing Orlok die was so saddening. It felt terrible. As for Yuan dying so "easily" was quite disappointing because I quite like how much of a nut he is. He's like an older and more ruthless Yang if he never met Lili I guess lol. At least Rui can be happy. As for the bad ending, seeing Yang protect Lili so much and die for her is quite sweet considering how his original bad ending was haha. Personally though, I prefer the bad ending in the original game, I guess I'm not used to Yang being so kind, and even though in real life you would probably want the Yang that he has become now, I personally prefer the Yang in the first game because he gave a nice balance of sweetness and craziness lol.
Tumblr media
Overall, I did like Yang's route but I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as his original route and I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected to. The good stuff about this route are definitely Rui, Yuan and the twins. The twins always make Yang's route a highlight haha, but adding Rui in made it even better. I really liked how he changed from his initial crappy attitude towards Lili to this genuine and heartfelt guy that apologised for his mistakes and assumptions. He had better character development than Yang haha! Yuan was cool too but I feel like he was kinda wasted because I don't feel like Yuan ever really did anything other than be the unpredictable crazy guy. As for Yang, I enjoyed the sweet and kind him that always took Lili's thoughts and feelings into consideration, and was sweet enough to actually apologise to her when he was wrong. He has really grown to care for Lili and you can really tell with this sequel. The only thing that was missing from this sequel was more sexy scenes haha! I feel like there was none! Anyway, in terms of Orlok, I felt bad for him in this route and it really sucked that we didn't get to get rid of Teo when he was basically ruining everyone's lives but oh well I guess. Anyway, nice route if you want a kind Yang, but I thought he was a bit too nice so I don't love the route but it's not bad I guess.

Kung lao sfw abcs
Ahhhhhh! Hat Bae time!!! It's kung lao loving hours.
(I mean i always love lao but ya know i have a shang simpin quota to meet. But outside the blog,it's always been lao lovin hours.)
Cw: none really, outside rant, maybe slight angst. Like lao is my ultimate fave character in mortal kombat period. (Plz don't be mad but lao comes before any other characters for me,even shang. Look i love shang but lao was my first, was here first, and still is best boi)
💖⛩💖⛩💖⛩💖⛩💖⛩💖⛩💖⛩💖⛩💖
A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?): well kung lao despite seeming confident. Is quite shy. Not to say he won't make a move if pressured by friends/liu kang. "Bro make a move already,we'll be old and grey by the time you make a move with them, heck I'll have great grandchildren by that time!" . But after the ice is broken. He is the sweetest bean. He'll open doors, fetch you anything you need. And honestly regardless if this relationship goes any further. Kung lao is willing to always help you. Him baby ok? Sassy baby. But baby none the less. (Honestly me n kung would be a constant battle of "no you're cuter" "i love you more" "no,you hang up first" much to everyone's annoyance. But they also in the same are happy for Lao. )
B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?): omfg besties. Granted friendship can come easy for kung but in the same vein, hard for him. He needs lots of reassurance. Plz help him. It may hit off good depends on who you are and your stances with him. But honestly kung lao is the best friend you could ever have. He is funny, loyal, has a cool hat, like fr what's not to love. (Ok im bias he's my main dude and i dont tolerate slander against hat bae) but if you don't like his "bragging" understand its not out of ego. It's a defense mechanism against the injustice his ancestors have been delt, the constant comparisons to liu kang(which dont make sense  because liu respects him as an equal and so does lao right back so none of this slander in canon makes any sense and is kinda annoying af and unnecessary. And it shows hella bias and passive aggressive hate to him) and others pressuring him for perfection to be like everyone else. Yet they also brag about shit, yet when he does it. Suddenly its a problem. Sorry this turned into a rant. My bad.
C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?): he's a cuddlebug. Any chance he gets with you. He hangs onto you like superglue. His fave way to cuddle is to spoon you from behind, his face in the crook of you neck. He just buries his face in you. He is afraid to let go. Because sometimes he feels if he does. He wouldn't see you again. Again it's his fears. He tries to hide them sometimes and be strong for you. But oof does he die inside when you leave him. But reassuring him,you aint going anywhere. (Srry i just love lao so much)
D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?): tbh if he could retire. He would but never fully. Because of not just his self responsiblity but also his loyalty to his friends. But domestic life with lao is sweet. He's equal with chores. He cooks pretty good. His fave thing to cook is noodle soup. Despite being a monk, kung lao isn't a true vegetarian. However most of his diet is vegetarian. But on lunar new year. He treats himself to homemade beef noodle soup and char siu. Its one of the few times he lets himself indulge like that.
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?): oh no baby why did you do that?! Who would break up with this bean?! What's wrong with you?!. But if you had to,he would rather it be upfront and formal. But just know this is gonna hurt him deeply. And he may not open up again to another person,at least for a long time. Like oof.
F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?): ok kung lao, once he has made up his mind. Once things get past awkwardness. And he feels it's safe. Mrs.kung is soon what you'll be addressed as.
G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?): him baby like i said. Kung lao is a very gentle lover. Not so say he cant be rough. Not to say he wont be sassy. But to his beloved,he wants you to feel safe and secure in the same as he does. Hand holding. Soft caresses. Gentle "i love yous" and reassuring forehead kisses.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?): he loves hugs. This is a good way to reassure him. Any chance he can get from you. And laos hugs are super warm and affectionate. You feel safe in his arms. His hugs feel like home.
I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?): you may say it first. But after that he says it shortly after. And never stops saying it.
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?): he can get that way a bit. But honestly he trusts you. But not to say he wont be cheeky or passive aggressive to that person trying to get on his bad side. But in all honesty despite being a bit protective of you (he has good reason to be btw) he actually does respect your space. But he's gonna go to you about it 9 outta 10 times. But don't push him plz.
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?): passionate, hungry, longing, sweet but also gentle. He kisses you as if they are the last kisses you'll ever share. Besides your lips. The neck, the forehead, the hand, and a gentle cheek peck is the common. But he absolutely is over the moon for a cute kiss on the cheek or forehead. But if you kiss him right on the lips? Im not responsible for how much he goes on and on about how sexy you are to his friends.
L = Little ones (How are they around children?): he loves kids. But he wants to be in a place to be able to support them properly. But kung lao is pretty cool with children. He's the fun dad.
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?): warm tender hugs. A slightly raspy, "good morning darling". Morning tea brewing,a nice breakfast. Just peaceful.
N = Night (How are nights spent with them?): serene. Here with you in his arms. His twilight respite. The crickets chirping. After a nice warm meal. Reclining and enjoying each others company before dozing off to sleep. Laying there in the soft moonlight of the window peaking through. His soft breath on your neck as you both slumber. To wake again to your handsome lao in the morning.
O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?): ok its a tad slow but honestly if he trusts you he will slowing talk to you about his insecurities. Like i said he needs reassurance. Once he has this from you. He trusts and protects you with his life.
P = Patience (How easily angered are they?): don't push him. But he despite being boastful. He is hardly quick to anger. That is something you SHOULD BE THANKFUL FOR! He is very patient despite his shortcomings. And he knows how to bring the hurt. Don't push him.
Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?): he remembers the important things. But sometimes he needs reminders. But that isn't his fault tbh. (Kung lao adhd anyone?) But he tries. He certainly makes up for it in acts of service and gifts and being there for you. No matter how late.
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?): he says when he first laid eyes on you (kung lao you flirt). But realistically,
Probably your first date. This is where he bared his soul to you. Probably something simple like a picnic under a blossom tree. Or somewhere serene that ment a lot to him.
S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?): very protective. But not so much so that he becomes overbearing. He knows you can manage yourself. But he still doesn't like to take chances either. He always is looking out for you. If you feel uncomfortable around someone. Talk to him,he'll speak with them to respect your boundaries. If you feel scared or anxious, hold his hand or arm. He'll wrap his around you and hold you close so you feel better. For himself, you just being there and telling him its ok is enough.
T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?): he tries to put as much effort as his brain will let him.
U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?): i honestly dunno. Probably beating himself up too much or taking on too much. Kung lao plz, take a break.
V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?): he takes good care of himself. But also he is humble in that area too? Honestly he isn't any more concerned than the next guy tbh. And i dont know where people get this from? I mean of course he wants to look good for you. So does everyone. So eh.
W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?): kinda yeah. He would be devastated if he lost you.
X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.): kung laos hat has a subspace magic that can store shit and well as be a filter to help him teleport. Tho he can teleport without his hat. That hat is a good pinpoint to an area. He did a hat trick once, put a bunny in there. Johnny never shuts up about it. Constantly is trying to get him to do it for him. But kung lao refuses. Because it was one time. And he doesn't like to keep live animals n creatures in his hat for long. Because he care for the fur babies. Oh he also is a happy flirty drunk. But funny enough bo-rai-cho taught him drunken style too. So he can also fake it too. But he doesn't like using it often. But he'll never say the reasons why.
Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?): someone cruel. Especially to animals or children. Overall he's open and tolerant of a lot of crap (probably more so then he needs to be,but eh he is a monk. Patience is a virtue) but some things are a hard no for him. Cruelty and violence outside of a tournament or when nessicary is unacceptable to him. He can try to talk you out of it. But he isn't above whooping ass either if needed.
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?): kung lao can sleep almost anywhere. But he has to have his morning tea and evening tea. Other than that,he's good.

The Mosley Review: Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender (Season 1)
Tumblr media
And so the trend to try and adapt a beloved anime, manga or an American animated series to live action continues. It isn't uncommon that the fans demand it or someone has a vision to bring such beautiful piece of art to the big screen. It just the fact that each attempt has been a disaster or has completely missed the point of the source material. Not everything in animation translates to live action so changes have to be made for an audience to digest the information. Which in this case, was a travesty since the rich themes of identity, personal growth, fear, loss and the power of hope is what made the original animated series a masterpiece. Such themes that connected with children and adults alike is what made the series such a massive draw. Now we all know how horrible the 2010 film adaptation so there’s no need to retread those waters. You can say that expectations were tempered going into this new Netflix adaptation with all the problems that existed internally. To be fair, I will not continue this review by comparing every aspect of the original series to this new live action version, but I will always encourage you all to seek out the original series. That being said, I will save my biggest critiques at the end. Now, I went into this series with the single hope that it would be as close as possible to the original series. Well, this was a better adaptation that captured a certain percentage of what made the cartoon special, but you can feel the tug of war going on from the very first 3 episodes. This version wanted to establish that there is a dark and grittier edge to it, but also show the light hearted and fun nature of the adventure across the different nations and the lessons each character learns. In my opinion, for every great moment this series provides and gets right, there was an empty void where any connection to original show or even to the characters themselves was severed.
Tumblr media
Gordon Cormier was really good as Avatar Aang. In many ways, he nails the character’s many emotional states as he slowly comes to grips with the loss of his Air nomad friends and mentor. He captured the pain in the Aang’s heart and also his childish humor in many scenes. I wish he had more time to actually grow out of his reluctant hero stage instead barreling through the most formative moments with his new friends. Lim Kay Siu was wonderful as Air nomad mentor Gyatso and I loved the emotional bond they had in the beginning of the show. Their chemistry was very strong and was the life blood for Aang. Kiawentiio was good as Katara and I felt she was done dirty in this show. She felt too sheepish at times and I wished she was more strong willed. She had her self doubts which is part of her arc, but I wish her steadfast nature was way more present. Everything was handed to her and she never really earns her upgrades in a selfless way as she comes off as more selfish when with Aang. Aside from a major missing character trait, Ian Ousley was excellent as her older brother Sokka. He nailed the characters' strength and humor, but I do wish he was a little bit more awkward. The family drama between Sokka and Katara was great and I liked the way it was resolved even if it was too quick. The 3 of them together make for a decent group, but I didn't feel as if they were really bonded. It felt as if they were following Aang as extra characters instead of being his friends and actual new emotional core of his heart. Utkarsh Ambudkar was awesome as the King of Omashu / Bumi. His playful nature was on full display and his message about making the hard decision as the Avatar and in his own way, as a King, was heard. He isn't the mad genius you love, but more the war torn and world weary older man. Maria Zhang was great as the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors, Suki. She was strong, had a good and ambitious heart. Her instant chemistry with Sokka was cool and I loved their training montage. I wish they took more time to develop the eventual love story between them instead of just jumping right into it.
Tumblr media
Dallas Liu was fantastic as Prince Zuko. He nailed his obsessive desire to capture Aang and bring him back to the Fire Nation. His story was a bit more fleshed out as we get to see the deeper emotional toll of his father's banishment. Dallas also nails the physicality of the character and I enjoyed every action scene. You feel the desperation, pain and overall need to please nature of his broken spirit. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee was great as his guardian and beloved character, Uncle Iroh. He is such a layered character and in the amount of time we get with him, it isn't wasted. I really liked that his past as a warlord was brought up and you see his regret. He is always been the nurturing core for Zuko and he was exactly that for this version of the series. Daniel Dae Kim was perfect as Fire Lord Ozai. He was the tyrannical lord of the Fire Nation that we all know and I loved how cold and unflinching he was in his tactics. There was a moment where I thought we were about to see an emotional side of him come out, but I'm glad I interpreted it wrong. It wasn't a father's care that was being shown to Zuko, it was more disappointment and shame and that was rough. Ken Leung was awesome as Commander Zhao and he nailed the characters arrogance and hunger for respect and power. He wanted forge his legacy in the Fire Nation and I loved his ambition and dedication. He was an excellent adaptation of the villain. On the other hand, we have a character that is not supposed to be focused on so heavily in the first season. Elizabeth Yu was good as Princess Azula, but I believe she missed the point of the character. She is supposed to be the absolute polar opposite of her brother Zuko and truly her "father's daughter". Where Zuko shows doubts and emotion, she shows rage, venom and ice cold dedication to setting the world ablaze. Here she is doubtful, second guessing and sometimes winey as hell. The actress did what she could, but she is the second character in this show that I think was done dirty.
Tumblr media
Takeshi Furukawa takes over the reins as the series composer and he did an epic job. He nailed the emotional beats and made the action even more intense. He incorporates some of the original themes from the animated series and a favorite song returns as well. I do miss the touch of Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn, but Takeshi did a wonderful job. Visually, the show was torn between vibrance and darkness and I wish they leaned more into the vibrance of the worlds without the dark overcast in almost every location. Like I said before, there were so many things that rubbed me the wrong way as this adaptation completely rushes past or condenses so many arcs for the sake of time. The first 20 minutes of the show was a mistake in my opinion, because we see the Air Nomads being wiped out instead of hearing about. Sometimes the stories about an event are more heartbreaking than actually seeing it. That 20 minutes could've been condensed to dialogue like the opening of the animated series. Princess Azula and her friends should have never been introduced in this season until the very last shot of the show. That's precious time wasted to build her up instead of forging Team Avatar. Aang needed to connect more with his new friends and rely on them instead of his dead mentor. That's why they never felt like a team or a new found family for Aang. This show really would've benefited from a 10 episode run instead of 8. In the end, it all boils down to the question of “Was this a faithful adaptation to the original animated series?” I would say that its a good cover album that takes too many artistic liberties and misses the many notes that made the first album a masterpiece. Fans like myself will like it better than the 2010 abomination, but will still see the major flaws. I highly recommend going back and watching the masterpiece the original series is, but if you don't, you'll still be entertained by this adaptation. Let me know what you thought of the show or my review in the comment below. Thanks for reading!

Dai Pai Dong - History
originated from the hawker licensing system in the mid 19th century
hawkers are vendors of street food and goods found in urban areas
hoc 'cooked food licences' were issued by the colonial government to help families of injured or deceased servants have a source of income
licence for food stalls in fixed locations were bigger so it could accomodate a photo of the licence holder and be displayed prominently
hawking served the lower class to make a living and allowed customers to benefit from convenience and low cost goods
since the early 1970s, the urban council stopped issuing new hawker licenses under normal circumstances
this was to reduce illegal hawking and minimise noise and nuisances on the streets
Tumblr media
after WWII, thousands of immigrants from China came to Hong Kong
to increase employment oppourunties, the British Hong Kong government issued more licenses of outdoor food stalls - so people could be self reliant
These food stalls sold a wide range of low cost, good quality food
due to the lack of etiquette and tidiness, the stalls became associated slang words such as 地踎 (Dei Mau - 'squatting on the floor') and 麻甩 (maa lat - ' describing someone who looks scruffy')
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dai Pai Dongs are now becoming extinct due to the increased quality of life and also sanitary problems associated with cooking outdoors
in the 1990s, people could afford more expensive foods which helped speed up its extinction
Dai Pai Dongs offer many specialties from congee, noodles and siu mei
the flavours require high heat and a well seasoned wok
typically dai pai dongs use kerosene to heat up the woks, but these have been banned by the Hong Kong government in recent years

one thing that i hope would get addressed in the future more is how bon (and bien) affect the relationship media and jacques have, considering b4 they were officially together they obviously disagreed on how to go about taking care of the two, w/ media pretty much just being flat out abusive (and while jacques was indisputably better it seems implied he was only better relative to media, not that he is actually a good parent)
ch6 in particular with bon and their ptsd flashback/vision thingy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
rpp l*ves this sort of vague "is this a dream? a memory? an alternate timeline? who knows!" scenes but imo the best way to interpret this is definitely a traumatic flashback that got triggered by the margibird harassing them
media is shown as being more sinister ofc, and the way he smiles in images w/ bon is noticably different from the more genuinely pleasant way he smiles around jacques, compared to jacques who in bons memories looks more passive relative to media, and in that second image clearly miserable
the thing is, if this is based on bons perception of things, its worth to note that jacques is even in these memories at all-although jacques is the "better" parent it does seem that to an extent bon associates him with the abuse they went through even if they dont necessarily blame him for it (altho i wouldnt be surprised if they did, even if only with some hesitation, bcuz in the end proj maldevaran wasnt even started by media, it was jacques idea)
idk if its intentional symbolism but the way jacques is smaller and further away inside the picture in that second one most likely is meant to symbolize medias greater influence in their previous home life over him but i wonder if it also symbolizes how compared to the beginning (the first picture) as time went on jacques became more neglectful and distant from bon, leaving them to fend for themselves to the marginals out of his own fear or passiveness
i think i posted about it in an older post b4 that their conversation in i1 hints to it, that bon resent jacques somewhat even if they dont rly hate him, or at least jacques believes bon resents him, and i can only think of his question if bon forgives him to be about two things (probably both at once) the first is obviously his role in proj-maldevaran, the second might be the fact that jacques willingly stays with media knowing what kind of person he was/is
also, even tho media had his self proclaimed "redemption arc" when he sent the cake for biens birthday, honestly the shitty haphazard cake (written in ink no less) coupled with the fact that media can literally poof things into existence and would have no problem just making, u kno, a decent cake does imply even tho he seems better than he used to he does have low opinions of bon in general
marginals r said to canonically hate the other immortals, even each other, but actually now that i think about it i wonder if marginals dislike demons in particular bcuz marginals r dead universes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the real meaning of the margibird monologue is smthng that isnt confirmed yet afaik but just based on what we know this is likely something reflecting the marginals belief about bon/demons, considering its talking about things that persist after a demon causes the apocalypse and kills the whole universe (aka marginals)
personally bcuz this monologue triggers bon to think particularly abt media this might even be smthng media said that the bird just repeats. altho this margibird came from curators gallery, idk if its supposed to mean its from curators world or w/e? i think this might be smthng media says during one of the experiments done on bon, which we know media, curator and security did together so maybe curator just remembers hearing it. it could be from curator herself too but i find that less likely just bcuz bons memories of their trauma centers so much around media and theres enough in the siu mv that implies curator might have been the only marginal who actually had some level of care for them
all that said i think its likely media just doesnt like demons bcuz demons kill universes and the marginals dont rly... like being dead lmaooo??
well anyway back to my original point i think theres probs some tension between media and jacques regarding their past w/ bon, and i wonder if part of why jacques feels so ambivalent around media is the realization that the reality of his childhood idol "evil monster" crush being an evil monster means he likes fucking over mentally ill kids

HONEY CHAR-SUI : Boss Tam, will you offer such discounts at your shop in the future? Charrie wants to buy so many things, but there is not enough money in my piggy bank...
TA-A-MI : Ahem...I offer these generous discounts only to thank my patrons.
TA-A-MI : After a while there will be no discounts, unless you obtain premium membership or collect enough stamps from my leaflets.
OPTION 1 : "I have a premium membership card!" HONEY CHAR-SUI : Did Boss Tam secretly give Master that card? Why doesn't Charrie have one? TA-A-MI : How, how did you know? Whoops, no no I didn't say anything... TA-A-MI : You would be a premium member if you spend 500 Jades for one purchase at the shop. Charrie, you can ask your friends to chip in if you want to apply for membership. HONEY CHAR-SUI : Got it! Piggy, get our buddies Bighead and Tinytail here now and we are shopping together! TA-A-MI : Behave yourselves when shopping. Don't mess up my shop!
OPTION 2 : "I've collected ten stamps!" HONEY CHAR-SUI : Master, how did you collect all ten stamps so quickly? HONEY CHAR-SUI : Boss Tam often gave you stamps secretly, right? No wonder there are always so many lurid leaflets in the letters of Ta-a-mi that Mr. Lu Wu gives you. All the leaflets have stamps on the back! TA-A-MI : You, you are right... HONEY CHAR-SIU : Piggy and I are friends of Master, so you must give us a stamp! TA-A-MI : Fine, I could even give you more if you bring me customers.
After a chat, Ta-a-mi looks up to the clock and frowns.
TA-A-MI : It's late now. I have to go back to my shop. Could you please help me hand out the rest of the leaflets? HONEY CHAR-SUI : No problem! Master and I will get it done! Remember to give us discounts!
TA-A-MI : Fine...Got it got it.
-
SUCKLING PIG ROAST : Terrible! Even the flames inside me dwarf in front of the energy of these shoppers clearing shelves like fury.
Holding two big shopping baskets laden with snacks and toys, Suckling Pig Roast keeps exclaiming behind others.
HONEY CHAR-SUI : We've been here so long, but Boss Tam is still not here. Why? I want him to tell me where Little Piggy biscuits are.
Tumblr media
BRAISED TREPANG : You are here for Ta-a-mi? I just saw him at the back gate of the shop.
HONEY CHAR-SUI : Hah Master Cong, are you also shopping here?
BRAISED TREPANG : Yes, Ta-a-mi has been doing business...Very abnormally lately. He is seemingly selling for losses rather than for profits. That's probably a new marketing strategy, so I'm here to find out.
PIGGY : Pew pew!
HONEY CHAR-SUI : Piggy has found Boss Tam! He is over there--!
TA-A-MI : ?!
TA-A-MI : Master, Charrie, Suckling Pig Roast, Master Cong? Why are you here?
Things like tents, bottled drinking water, flashlights, instant noodles, rain boots, and raincoats stack up at the back gate of the shop. In the middle of numerous goods, Ta-a-mi stops bookkeeping on seeing the others and puts on a nervous look.
OPTION 1 : "Tamtam, what are you doing here?" TA-A-MI : ...No, it's not, not important! TA-A-MI : I am here just to inventory my new stock. HONEY CHAR-SUI : Boss Tam has got so many goods at the back gate, but it seems none of them are as attractive as Little Piggy biscuits.
OPTION 2 : "Are you going to sponsor the Survival Game of the Adventure Club?" BRAISED TREPANG : As a senior member of the Adventure Club, I've not learnt yet that the Survival Game would be held. TA-A-MI : Stop guessing! I'm just recording my new wares.
Tumblr media
TA-A-MI : ...So sorry that I left you alone. Go to the front gate and I'll show you around.
TA-A-MI : Charrie wants Little Piggy biscuits and Suckling Pig Roast wants a cooler, right? I'll help you find them...
After trying hard, Ta-a-mi persuades Charrie and his father to leave the back gate. Only Braised Trepang stays, lost in his thoughts--
BRAISED TREPANG : Master, I am afraid Ta-a-mi is in trouble.
BRAISED TREPANG : You see, these goods like tents, flashlights, and bottled drinking water, are usually used for disaster relief.

Nolan Bushnell, the founder of Atari and inventor of Pong — one of the first commercially successful video games — has shared optimism for the future of Web3 games, particularly as it comes to bringing ownership to virtual worlds. During the Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum in Hong Kong on Aug. 25, Bushnell spoke alongside Animoca Brands co-founder Yat Siu, discussing the past, present and future of gaming. It was moderated by Sean Hung, the managing partner of Chiron Group.Bushnell, who Yat Siu acknowledged as the “grandfather of gaming” — praised Web3 games for their ability to extend the concept of ownership into the digital landscape. “Games will increasingly imitate all factors of life. Web3 with blockchain suddenly transmits ownership into the virtual world.”The Atari founder currently serves as the Chief Knowledge Officer at Web3 gaming company Moxy — and kicked off the panel by sharing the topline details of a conversation he’d had with Siu in the days prior:“I was just gobsmacked. I mean, we had you know, every once in a while you can have a conversation that changes your brain. We had one of those.”I'm excited to be speaking at the DELF event. We've chosen Hong Kong for https://t.co/GNemkV0YDf's entrance to the Asian Market https://t.co/phUuANd9LB— Nolan K Bushnell (@NolanBushnell) August 15, 2023 While Bushnell launched into his prediction of a world in the not too distant future, where the inside of self-driving cars could become a mobile gaming studio, Siu pointed to the potential of Web3 games to help economically monetize gameplay, as games become a more ubiquitous part of everyday life. “The impact that Web3 gaming has already had…is that you can start earning money with the engagement of the time that you spend in these games.”Siu said that despite games originally taking the form of “player versus environment” systems, where gamers play against the non-player characters (NPCs), the world of gaming — as seen through the rise of Minecraft and Roblox — has evolved to become a multiplayer ecosystem. “You don't go to Fortnite to play against yourself or an environment. You go online to play against others, meaning that we, the players, are the content, but the difference is that we haven't really been compensated for it,” Siu explained. When asked what he saw as the biggest promise provided by Web3 games, Bushnell said that the combination of “KYC and the immutability of blockchain” were the best ways to ensure that players in online games were not bots or bad actors. Additionally, Bushnell predicted that games would soon become an essential part of the classroom, with students learning best by way of “story and simulation.”Related: Play-to-earn has fatal flaws: How can Web3 gaming be more sustainable? While the positives of Web3 games were readily espoused, Yat Siu noted some of the issues that had arisen alongside the proliferation of blockchain gaming. “When you introduce Web3 and blockchain to any system, including games, you're introducing capitalism. And so the problems we have seen in the last 12 to 18 months comes from the fact that these games have become not just capitalist to the studio that produced it, but to every participant,” Siu said. Despite the many flaws introduced by the financialization of games — many of which became readily apparent in the “toxicity” of play-to-earn games like Axie Infinity — Siu said that the inherently capitalist element would aid young gamers in gaining a financial education. “If the world becomes more financially literate because of Web3 gaming — because they understand something about value — then I think the world will become safer.”Magazine: Blockchain games aren’t really decentralized… but that’s about to change Source

the hunting trio was originally started by inha, a demon hybrid, after deciding to become a bounty hunter for the supernatural but he took roa (former human revived by an angel) and siu (failed guardian of a sacred tree) in, training them both for the job. they operate not unlike human bounty hunters, just that their targets aren't as easy to take down, and for that, they charge a higher price. inha & roa, while unrelated, are often referred to as twins due to their perfect combat sync. (fc: kang y.eosang / huh y.unjin / song m.ingi )
tdlr under the cut. i kept them somewhat simple because i feel like i am going too complicated otherwise looking at bohyuk there
Tumblr media Tumblr media
INHA is a demon hybrid and twin, his mother accepted the deal of a demon to receive 'one' healthy child by drinking its blood. it turned out not to be a dream, with one twin missing and inha born with bloodred eyes and an uneasy aura. he was chased off eventually, but decided to embrace his blood, learning dark magic under a warlock mentor before training combat skills and starting his own bounty hunter business. he also is the one to develop their weapon and consider their "mind". while he's more reserved and has a casual personality, he can be silly at times. He has given up his attempts to find his twin and the demon. fc: kang y.eosang
Tumblr media
ROA was born as a human with the ability to see angels and befriended one as a child who would visit her. On the day she was meant to die, the angel sacrificed its life to give it to her, accidentally also transferring its abilities and a part of its personality to her, making her something hard to describe. She suffers from blackouts sometimes and experiences memories that aren't hers. She has become a skilled hunter and tends to lack mercy at times, the type to run away from her own problems. Roa is the one who will always finish a job, no matter how hard it is. fc: huh y.unjin (loosely inspired by Angel's Last Mission)
Tumblr media
SIU was once created as a guardian spirit of a sacred tree with the duty to protect it from harm but failed when humans started to kill at its root and eventually burned it down. He was punished by the heavens never to be allowed to enter the next stage and reborn in a human body out of the ashes of the tree. Siu still has the ability to communicate with trees like seeing their memories and making plants bloom or wither. While the two tried their best to teach him how to live a human life, he still struggles with it. Siu has become a good hunter but sometimes, there's hesitation when feelings get in the way. fc: song m.ingi (revisited character)

What to Expect From a Drug Rehab Center
Tumblr media
When someone is addicted to drugs and/or alcohol, they need help getting clean. That help can be found at a drug rehab center, where trained medical and mental health professionals provide therapy, counseling and other treatment services that lead to recovery.
There are several types of drug rehab centers, based on the level of intensity of care offered and the length of time required to complete treatment. These options include inpatient, residential and outpatient.
Inpatient rehab at https://goodlandingrecovery.com/drug-rehab/ involves staying at a hospital or drug rehabilitation facility during the entire time of treatment, with 24-hour supervision. It’s a good option for people with severe addictions and other mental health conditions, and those who have had previous problems with substance abuse.
Many rehab centers also offer short-term programs, called partial hospitalization or day treatment, where individuals attend therapeutic sessions during the day, but go home to their own apartment or sober living house at night. These programs are suitable for people who have a strong support system and who are ready to take the next step in their treatment. Look for more facts about rehabs at http://edition.cnn.com/2013/07/29/health/rehab-racket-siu-cir-part-one/index.html.
The length of time that someone needs to stay in an inpatient or residential rehab program depends on their physical and psychological health, as well as their specific drug addiction and its impact on their daily life. The length of a rehab program may range from one month to six months, with patients being monitored during the entire duration of their stay.
Some facilities offer a combination of inpatient and outpatient programs, while others offer a drug-free outpatient program to transition individuals from inpatient treatment to abstinence. Most outpatient programs offer a mix of behavioral, psychotherapeutic and educational techniques, skills training and support.
A patient’s physical and mental health will be monitored throughout their treatment, with counselors able to prescribe medication to manage withdrawal symptoms or address any other issues that can affect the patient’s recovery. Talking through any problems as they arise and asking for assistance when necessary empowers patients to adjust quickly, and focus on their personal recovery.
Individual and group therapy are common forms of treatment in drug rehab centers. These therapies use different techniques, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing, to help patients learn to recognize triggers that may encourage them to use drugs or alcohol. They also teach patients how to cope with stressful situations, which can decrease the likelihood of relapse and promote long-term healing.
Rehab centers often incorporate 12-step groups into their program to encourage patients to work through their past experiences and take more responsibility for their lives. This can help clients reassess their behaviors and build self-esteem and confidence, which can be key to long-term recovery.
Inpatient and residential rehabs are usually designed with a set schedule that makes it easier for clients to stick to the program and focus on their recovery goals. These schedules include meals, activities and therapy sessions that eliminate boredom and distractions that could cause a client to return to drug or alcohol use. Movie Review | The Seventh Curse (Lam, 1986)
Tumblr media
We open with a standoff between cops and crooks. The cops have the crooks surrounded but the crooks have a sharpshooter. Our hero, proving what great big cojones he has, enacts a scheme to surprise the bad guys by pretending to be a doctor, but it nearly goes awry when the nurse who's supposed to accompany him turns out to be a pesky reported not in on his idea. What erupts is as rollicking as any action scene in mid-'80s Hong Kong cinema, but it's shot in moody blue lighting and wide angles, as if to let us know something is up. Well, it turns out he has some curse that will cause him to die gruesomely if he gets near a woman, which coincidentally is the exact same reason I'm still single.
So naturally he has to go down to Thailand and investigate an evil cult. We know this cult is evil because they're all about human sacrifices, and when one of the cult members isn't down for doing a human sacrifice, the leader sics a fucked up lizard baby monster on him, which is a great way to settle an argument. It turns out the person they plan to sacrifice is this total babe the hero saw earlier in the water in a see through gown, and he ends up pissing off the cult when he saves her. Imagine the scene in Cannibal Holocaust where Robert Kerman watches some of the cannibals rape a woman without intervening so he could follow them back to the village, and imagine if instead he jumped in to put a stop to the rape, only because he wanted to get with the cannibal woman. To repay the favour, she helps save his life by taking off her clothes, cutting her breast in closeup and feeding him a bloody orb. All of these steps are very important, and this isn't the only time someone eats an orb in this movie. Also, it turns out he still has the curse, and more hijinks ensue. I dunno, a lot of things happen, it's hard to explain.
If I had to summarize this movie's influences, it's roughly a combination of A Chinese Ghost Story and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. It pulls from the energetic visual style of the former, and the action-adventure elements and gonzo luridness of the latter, cranking it up a few degrees in explicitness. (I understand gross supernatural horror was a popular genre in Hong Kong cinema, but I think this one pretty blatantly takes cues from the Spielberg movie.) I do think the action-adventure mold presents a bit of a problem, in that the movie isn't terribly interested in making sense of the curse, meting out explanatory details as a total afterthought, so that the stakes aren't entirely clear. That being said, any story here is clearly a clothesline for the set pieces, and the movie is so packed with incident that narrative flimsiness becomes a non-issue. Every few minutes there's a high energy action scene or two-fisted image to hold your attention. Glowing eyeballs, reanimated skeletons, that fucked up lizard baby monster, torn flesh, worms. It's like the Bulk Barn of action-horror movies.
The bigger problem is that Chin Siu-Ho is pretty bland as the protagonist. He's supposed to be some sort of dashing ladies man, but we never see how smooth he actually is. As the centre of the movie and the person upon whom all emotional stakes are placed, this is a bit of an issue, but his flatness means that our attention turns to the supporting players, and this is a star-studded cast. The posters prominently feature Chow Yun-Fat, but he's really in the movie for a few minutes, popping up sporadically to huff on a pipe, although he does get a great moment in the finale. The role carries the aura of someone calling in a favour, but I like to think that Chow just wanted something to do on his day off and showed up to the set. There are also a ton of smaller roles from recognizable faces (Kara Hui and Yasuaki Kurata as police officers, Chor Yuen and Wong Jing at a party, Joyce Godenzi as a woman the hero tries to pick up, to name a few), but really this movie is Maggie Cheung's show. Her role as the pesky reporter could have been annoying in other hands, but she plays it for maximum goofy charm. Cockblocking the hero at every turn, getting herself into all kinds of trouble, but also saving the day multiple times thanks in part to the shitload of guns she brings to the adventure. A character that's very hard to hate, especially in Cheung's tremendously charismatic hands.
