i know vet prices are out of control expensive but it's because the world is expensive, not greed, and so every time i encounter someone complaining about it in bad faith i want to grab them by the hands with shaking, sweaty desperation and say "on average human nurses are paid 30-50 dollars an hour. vet techs, who are nurses of every department and every specialty and also janitors and mma fighters, are lucky to break minimum wage."
this might look like a proper webweave but mostly once again i'm procrastinating by recreating my preferred ender chest storage system in rainbow-coded organized shulkers & thinking about the entropy of storage systems vs. georges perec's incredibly funny piece on the art and craft of arranging one's bookshelves (original fr text here)
Wait wait what did your boss do with the sweet potato??? I'm trying to imagine how you'd eat a raw sweet potato, they are so solid. You could shave bits off I guess??? Did they microwave it?
he slowly sawed it in half with a plastic butter knife, put one half back in the lunchbox (presumably for tomorrow) and then microwaved the other half
The fascinating and heartbreaking inversion here is that originally we had a Syaoran who was trying SO hard to be like Lava Lamp - his soul was desperately trying to build itself up and be a complete being, using Lava Lamp's soul to be as similar to it as possible, but he couldn’t quite get there.
And now we have Lava Lamp who is trying SO HARD to be like Syaoran. Specifically, Syaoran’s auto-pilot programming. He’s promised Watanuki that he’ll do ANYTHING it takes to complete this task, he’ll take ANY suffering onto himself to get it done. He wants SO MUCH to be able to prioritise and get it DONE no matter the cost - like Auto-Pilot could, technically.
And with that in mind how INTERESTING that Lava Lamp and Syaoran make up their own Yin Yang contrast even now. Syaoran is mostly programming but needed a little bit of Lava Lamp to be a functioning person. Lava Lamp is already a functioning person but needs a little bit of Syaoran’s ruthless commitment to survive the horrors of his reality.
And so here we have Lava Lamp hardening himself to the loss of this child and making himself walk away, but as the child continues to speak we see how this is DEVASTATING him.
(Which might be even WORSE if he has any memories of this child of his own. Does he remember seeing him running around in the background of Syaoran's life? Did they ever interact? Has he SEEN this child grow up in reality, and now has to watch him slowly die instead?)
YES!!
Fai sees this all happening and finally bridges the gap he left open in Nihon. Before when he saw Lava Lamp’s pain he considered putting a hand on his shoulder but didn’t, couldn’t QUITE connect with him. But now he sees Lava Lamp being absolutely torn to shreds over this dying child and just gently touches his arm and talks to him - and the INSTANT change in Lava Lamp’s face. It's not an expression we've ever seen on him - like he's completely unguarded and can't summon a mask even if he wanted to. As if he can’t quite believe this is being offered to him. As if he’s not used to it. As if this has never been offered to him before.
BECAUSE IT HASNT.
It's possible he was so convinced that the distance between him and Fai would always be there because of Syaoran, but here Fai is willingly crossing that distance to comfort him and you can SEE that Lava Lamp never really thought that was going to happen. I mean, who ELSE in his life has ever been here like this for him? Ever since he went in that lava lamp the answer has been : no-one.
FAMILY TRAUMA BONDING!
Kurogane joins in the comfort by reinforcing what Lava Lamp said and sharing the blame he was trying to take all onto himself. Kurogane, Mokona, and Fai ALL opt in to let Lava Lamp know that he’s NOT doing this alone and they’re ALL equally in this together, even if the result is negative and they caused something awful. It is SO sweet to see them reaching out to him in this moment, finally building this connection between them when he desperately needs it, even as they all walk through the dissipating water of all the lives being destroyed around them. You can see by the expressions on Fai and Kurogane in this panel that they’re hardly THRILLED about the tragedy around them, but the important thing is they’re all choosing to walk in unison as it happens.
OHH AND LOOK AT HOW MUCH IT MEANS TO HIM
THE PAIN HAS EASED AS HE CLOSES HIS EYES GENTLY AND IS VISIBLY TOUCHED BY THE SOLIDARITY
VERY grown-up question, does anybody have a cooling mattress pad and does it actually work bc I’m curious about getting one but the only reviews I see that mention the cooling aspect of the product (not on a specific brand just a bunch I’ve looked at) complain that they don’t work and they’re actually too warm and it’s making me skeptical
Who do you think supplies qCellbit with blood on the reg? 🤔 Like do the brazilian polycule take turns?
One of the reasons he was tweakin' while Felps was gone was bc he refused to take MORE from his partners so he just ended up fasting for a day while Felps was gone?
Or does the federation supply him with blood/plasma bags? 🤨 After he gets tortured he starts refusing them outright?
Thoughts?
i thought about this all night and have returned with these conclusions:
for his blood supply. i think his primary source is all the brazilians w the exception of forever, bc of the common mythos of vampires and werewolves feuding. i think werewolf blood probably tastes like dirty socks to him. it's important to me that tazercraft put all his blood in little juice boxes which he Instantly swaps out for wine glasses bc he's dramatic like that. (there's a genuine reason for that—cellbit doesn't like feeding straight from people bc he's afraid that such close proximity and physically biting into the flesh will trigger things he'd rather keep in his past. therefore, tazercraft have a little blood station in the back to take everyone's blood and package it for him. they could've done normal blood bags however they r full of whimsy and therefore he gets juice boxes <3) there was Definitely a shortage when felps was kidnapped, which is where the secondary source of animal blood comes in. it's not as filling as human blood, kind of the equivalent of fast food vs a homecooked meal, so he was Not having a fun time. he is NOT made for surviving on shitty mcdonalds for 1/3 of his meals.
i think he HAS a tertiary source. however. he would rather die than turn to it, bc it's the "synthetic blood" tazercraft cooked up in their laboratories and it Genuinely tastes like cough medicine. in their defense. it fully does work. it's just as filling and nutritious as organic blood, it just Also tastes like chemicals and cellbit would rather die than have to stomach that.
when cellbit awoke/broke out he Did notice that there were multiple bloodbags in the fridge. he didn't want to take any bc. obviously. he doesn't trust anything the federation puts in front of him. so he couldn't taste test to see where they were from. however, from how refreshed and filled he felt, he has a Worrying Suspicion it was human blood, and he definitely fears what that could imply.
People need to learn to hate a character without coming up with the most BS excuses.
You cannot actually tell me Naruto learned more from Jiraiya, or Sasuke learned more from Orochimaru than they did from Kakashi
Jiraiya taught Naruto Rasagan and Summoning.
All we see Sasuke get from Orochimaru is his summons, and he also has an eagle summon so clearly he couldn’t even just have only the snakes to connect him to his ‘master’
Meanwhile, Kakashi taught Naruto chakra nature, how to use his shadow clones, Basic Chakra control, is stated to have improved all three of his students exponentially before the chunin exams, and of course he taught all three of his students the importance of teamwork and protecting their friends over the mission. A lesson that Naruto and Sasuke both take to heart in their own way.
He taught Sasuke the chidori, which Sasuke evolved into other types of chidori style jutsu’s. He also helped him improve his taijutsu so much in a month that Gai, the Taijutsu master, was impressed and concerned about the training Kakashi put him under for that month.
Sakura is the only one who we can confidently say learned more from her master, and Kakashi can’t teach medical ninjitsu (he only knows basic medical ninjitsu and that’s only after the way) and states himself he’s not the best at teaching chakra control (hence why he asked Ebisu to help Naruto with that during the month between chunin exam fights)
Like…
Hate Kakashi all you want but calling him a ‘Bad Sensei’ is factually incorrect for what we see. Even when he screws up it’s not out of malice or thinking he just knows better. He’s genuinely trying to help his students and just screws up.
People with tanks of fish for "decoration" can never know how beautiful actual fish tanks when fully done could ever look like. "It hides the expensive fish I got. >:((((" NO, it brings out the beauty of your fish. Your super expensive fish that you took time to research to ensure the most beneficial life for them look GORGEOUS when not in danger of a terrible tank nor other fish they wouldn't get along with. They vanish behind plants and you see glimpses of their colourful scales, and when they come out? It's better than seeing them 24/7 in A Void.
Anyway, taking this moment to say I went into a thrift store some weeks ago and there was just a big ass tank in the middle of it. Of course I'm not super well versed in fish, but I think I could spot fish that aren't healthy nor getting along, so I naturally went to it because if your store is going to want to be vibe checked so openly, then kudos. The tank was completely decorated and had mostly cichlids (if any other fish, I think just bottom feeders). It was clean, and I took time to inspect as many as I could and from what I saw, no injuries or illness. I was pretty surprised, but delighted, and I can only hope it was as good as I think it is. I'm so used to only seeing fish in stores for buying, so seeing an actual, complete tank like this was really fun. It was pretty big, as well, but I don't know my tank sizes, so I couldn't tell ya just how big. ^^"
Right! Not to mention, fishes are most comfortable in conditions suitable for them, with the company or lackthereof that they enjoy. Adding hides can even increase the time you see your fish, funnily enough, because it means the fish have more places to seek refuge in and therefore they can afford to explore a bit more knowing there is a safe place right next to them! If someone has the money to buy several expensive fishes, they should also have the money to invest in a large tank with lots of gorgeous and fitting decor. A beautiful aquarium truly does bring out the beauty of fishes even more; a daydream of mine is that if I had the space and the money, I would like a massive, massive blackwater tank with lots of driftwood, vegetation, and healthy, earthy brown water from tannins. I would then stock it with dozens of cardinal or neon tetras, or another iridescent fish. Tetras are usually recommended to be kept in schools of at least six, but in the wild their schools can be massive! A large aquarium would allow for the fish to have schools more like they do in the wild, and I bet that seeing dozens of shiny tetras swimming side by side would be amazing.
As for your friends adrift at the thrift store! I do not think of myself as a pessimistic person, but I must admit that more often than not, I expect aquariums in stores and the like to be rather badly maintained. I'm happy to hear that out there, there is a thrift store with a big tank and healthy fishes! Perhaps the owner(s) like fishes but were worried that being away all day would mean they can't monitor the health and/or enjoy their fishes as much as they like? In any case, happy to hear these news! :)
"It happened a couple of times, but this was pretty obvious, I think, at any moment (...) Sometimes I make a mistake, and I have the radio open, instead of closed, then obviously everyone hears me… when I wanted to keep this anger to myself!”

Maybe you don't like to reblog my explicit fics in order to keep your blog clean, and I'm cool with that. You need not do anything except enjoy the fics that I write.
I don't care about numbers. What I think would be cool is if people were *talking* about my fics with each other. Privately, publicly, podcast, in the bedroom, whatever, I just think that would be cool. I literally think it would be an act of rebellion.
I wish Net Neutrality laws were still in place so folks could do reaction videos to my fics. A mutual once said "I do be making faces (when reading smutty fics) though." But alas, the current internet landscape is too puritanical to allow space for such fun adult conversations.
So while I won't ask for likes or reblogs, I will ask for bookmarks. I will ask that you make copies. I will ask that you copypasta it all someplace where no one else can see it, like a diary app, your own private discord server, or emailing a copy to yourself. Screenshots are okay. Printing it out and snailmailing it overseas is fine as long as you're doing it legally.
I will also ask for private recs. If you know someone that you think might like a piece I wrote, I encourage you to reach out to them and recommend the piece.
I just don't think we talk about the explicit fanfics that we enjoy enough. But as long as publically talking about it can literally lose us access to what little of it we have, I don't have any hard feelings for those of you that do not like/reblog/leave evidence of your enjoyment.
I promise it's okay!
Some people will cry that fandom is dying or whatever. They might even say "If we have the numbers then companies have to listen! You gotta reblog to make progress!" But that simply isn't true.
Companies had the numbers before the policy changes that stopped adult discussions online. They've *always* had the numbers. Those numbers have always been astronomical: They don't care. Literally the only thing you can do in the USA to promote explicit fanfic and fandom spaces is figure out the politics behind the puritanical purge of in-demand fan content and fight back politically with your votes.
But if you can't even do that, just talking about the explicit fics you loved is an act of rebellion. And if you're not free to speak, then simply *enjoying* that content is an act of rebellion.
You need not feel a single drop of guilt from a lack of a heart/like/reblog/recommendation. Just by reading the shit in the first place, you already joined the resistance, engaged in the rebellion, and you'll always be cool to me.
