Special thanks to our mod @penguinsledder for making this year's banner!
What is Kataang Week?
Kataang Week is when we, as a corner of the fandom, celebrate the ship Kataang on Tumblr! The prompts for Kataang Week 2024 were selected through five rounds of voting over the last few weeks and all prompts were submitted by Kataangers.
Cool, when is it?
Summer Kataang Week 2024 starts on Monday, July 29th - a little over seven weeks from today - and ends on Monday, August 5th.
Who is the founder of Tumblr's Kataang Week?
@secretsecrettunnel revived Kataang Week in the summer of 2013 a few years after Avatar: The Last Airbender ended and when the fandom was itching for more Kataang during The Legend of Korra’s run.
Who are the mods?
@airbender-dacyon AKA Mod Dan: A Kataang fanfic writer who prefers fluff, but also loves some drama and angst. Mod Dan started writing Kataang stories in 2013 and has helped organize Kataang Week since 2016.
@penguinsledder AKA Mod Atarah: A writer, gif maker, and musician–she enjoys fluffy young adult Kataang and all the ways they complement and parallel each other. She first joined Tumblr for Kataang Week 10 years ago, and started helping out with writing posts and making banners as a mod since 2016!
@itsmoonpeaches AKA Mod Belle: An avid Kataanger with a penchant for angst and mild violence who likes writing. Mod Belle has been a mod since 2021 and helps write posts and social media.
@chocomd AKA Mod Celes: Fanfic writer who adores Kataang for their fun and flirty side but also their bond forged through grief and loss. Mod Celes joined in 2023 and helps with a little bit of everything - whatever needs to be done!
How do I participate?
The most common ways to participate are by creating art or writing a fic and posting it online. Some people try and create something for every day while others only fill one or two prompts.
As always, we want to reassure you that it’s perfectly okay not to do every prompt! We just hope to have lovely pieces to share on each day.
But I can’t draw or write!
That’s totally fine - there are more ways to participate! You can sing a song, create a graphic, write a poem - just about anything really. You can also show your support by reblogging and liking other people’s contributions.
What are the prompts?
The following will be the running order for Kataang Week 2024:
Cultural Exchange/Culture Sharing/Revival of Traditions - Monday, July 29th
Protectiveness/Bodyguard - Tuesday, July 30th
Parenting/First-Time Parents - Wednesday, July 31st
Post-Battle Reunion - Thursday, August 1st
Disguise - Friday, August 2nd
Jealousy - Saturday, August 3rd
Proposal - Sunday, August 4th
Free Day - Monday, August 5th
* As a reminder, Cultural Exchange/Culture Sharing/Revival of Traditions, Protectiveness/Bodyguard, and Parenting/First-Time Parents were combined during voting as they were very similar prompts. You can interpret them as singular or separate prompts and incorporate one or both for each day.
** And as always, there is a Free Day at the end of the week. You can use this day to post anything you’d like! It can be a prompt that didn’t receive enough votes or something you’ve been wanting to work on, anything goes!
How should I tag my work?
The easiest way for us to find your work so we can reblog it to this blog is by using the tag “kataang week”. Using “kataang” and “kataangtag” also help. You must tag one of the three in your first five tags otherwise it doesn’t appear in the search. It is also helpful to tag us directly with @kataang-week.
Sometimes even properly tagged posts may not appear when we search the tags, so if you do not see your content reblogged, please let us know.
Once we’ve reblogged it to this blog we add our own tags (a prompt tag and a user tag) for easy organization. This means we can find all the work for one prompt or all the work from one user in one easy click (this also means that if you have changed your username since participating last year you need to let us know so we can update your tag!).
Can I post my stuff other places online too?
Of course you can!
Why seven weeks? Is that enough time?
Traditionally, we like to provide our content creators seven to eight weeks to create quality content. Kataang Week is also traditionally held in the last week of July.
If you are unable to complete a prompt in time, please do not fret. You can alert this blog by mentioning it in your post (ex. @kataang-week) or messaging one of the mods and your content will still be shared even if it is a week (or a month - or sometimes more!) late.
We also like to post WIP for Kataang Week and encourage everyone else to do so as well - we reblog it here for motivation!
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, don’t hesitate to send an ask. Don’t forget to reblog this as well to help spread the word!
Good luck, Kataangers, and happy content creating! 😊

pairing: sunghoon x reader
warnings: doubt, insecurities, cheating?? accusation??, lmk if i missed anything
wc: 1.8k
requested by: @laylasbunbunny
You had been singing Ariana Grande's "Supernatural" non-stop for the past week. The catchy tune had become your go-to song around the dorm, and you sang it everywhere — in the kitchen while making breakfast, in the living room while watching TV, and even softly to yourself as you walked down the hallway. Sunghoon loved hearing you sing, but lately, the lyrics were starting to bother him.
You are in the kitchen with Jay, cooking a meal together. The kitchen is filled with the delicious aroma of spices and freshly chopped vegetables. As you stir the pot, you can't help but sing under your breath, the catchy tune keeping you energized. Jay hums along, occasionally joining in with his own voice.
Just need you right here
You're like the only thing that I see
Meanwhile, in his room, Sunghoon hears you singing the familiar lyrics. Curiosity and a hint of worry make him leave his room to see what’s going on. As he approaches the kitchen, he hears both you and Jay singing together, your voices blending harmoniously. He stops at the doorway, watching as you laugh and sing, completely immersed in the moment.
Jay grabs a spatula and uses it as a microphone, singing the lyrics about feeling an electric connection and something supernatural. He spins around, bumping into you playfully, and you both giggle. Neither of you notices Sunghoon standing there, a mix of emotions crossing his face.
Sunghoon clears his throat loudly, making his presence known. You and Jay turn around, surprised to see him. "Oh, Sunghoon! I didn't see you there," you say with a smile.
"I just came to get some water," Sunghoon says, trying to keep his tone neutral. He walks over to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water. His original plan to join you in the kitchen fades as he watches you and Jay together, feeling a pang of jealousy and hurt.
Jay, noticing Sunghoon's expression, tries to lighten the mood. "Hey, Sunghoon! Want to join us? We're making your favorite dish."
Sunghoon forces a smile, twisting the cap off his water bottle. "Maybe later. You two seem to have it under control." He takes a long sip of water, trying to push down the uneasy feeling in his chest.
It wasn't that he disliked the song; in fact, he thought your voice was beautiful. But there was one thing that was nagging at him: the way you seemed to emphasize certain lyrics. Specifically, the lines about feeling an "electric connection" and something "supernatural" were making him uneasy. He couldn't help but notice that you had been spending more time with Jay lately, and his insecurities were starting to get the better of him.
-
It’s a sunny Saturday afternoon, and you’re in the living room, flipping through a magazine. Sunghoon walks in, a hopeful smile on his face. "Hey, Y/N," he says, sitting down beside you, "I was thinking, maybe we could go to that new café downtown? The one with the amazing pastries."
Just as you’re about to respond, Jay enters the room, looking excited. "Y/N, I just found out about this cool art exhibit that’s opening today. It’s all about modern sculptures. Wanna check it out with me?"
You hesitate, caught between two great offers. Sunghoon’s suggestion sounds cozy and relaxing, while Jay’s idea seems interesting and different. You think for a moment, then make your decision. "Jay, the art exhibit sounds really intriguing. I’d love to go with you."
Sunghoon’s smile falters slightly, but he quickly masks his disappointment. "That’s cool. You’ll have a great time."
Sensing his feelings, you reach out and hold his hand. "Sunghoon, it's not that I don’t want to spend time with you. I just really wanted to see this exhibit. Why don’t you come with us?"
Sunghoon shakes his head, forcing a smile. "No, it’s okay. You two go ahead. I’ll just check out the café another time."
You squeeze his hand gently, trying to reassure him. "Are you sure? We’d love to have you with us."
"I’m sure," Sunghoon replies, standing up. "You guys enjoy the exhibit. I’ll see you later."
You watch as he walks away, feeling a twinge of guilt. You wish he would join you, but you understand his need for some space. Turning to Jay, you give him a small smile. "Let’s go see those sculptures."
Jay nods, his excitement evident. "It’s going to be awesome, Y/N."
As you leave for the exhibit with Jay, you can’t help but think about Sunghoon. The art exhibit is fascinating, filled with creative and inspiring pieces. You and Jay discuss each sculpture, sharing your thoughts and interpretations. Despite enjoying the exhibit, a part of you wishes Sunghoon were there to experience it with you.
Later that evening, when you return to the dorm, you find Sunghoon in his room, reading a book. You knock gently on the door frame. "Hey."
He looks up, a small smile on his lips. "Hey. How was the exhibit?"
"It was amazing," you say, sitting down beside him. "But I missed you."
Sunghoon closes his book and takes your hand. "I missed you too. I’m glad you had a good time, though."
You lean in and kiss his cheek. "Next time, we’ll do something together. Just the two of us."
Sunghoon nods, his smile growing. "I’d like that."
-
One evening, Sunghoon decided he couldn't keep his feelings to himself any longer. He found you sitting on the couch, scrolling through your phone, and sat down beside you.
"Hey," he began, trying to keep his tone casual, "you've been singing that Ariana Grande song a lot lately."
You looked up from your phone and smiled. "Yeah, it's just stuck in my head. It's such a good song, don't you think?"
Sunghoon nodded, but his expression remained serious. "Yeah, it is. But… can I ask you something?"
"Sure," you said, putting your phone down and giving him your full attention.
"Is there a reason why you're singing it so much? I mean, the lyrics… they seem kind of… personal."
You raised an eyebrow, confused. "Personal? What do you mean?"
Sunghoon took a deep breath. "It's just… the part about feeling an electric connection and something supernatural. You've been spending a lot of time with Jay lately, and I can't help but wonder if… if maybe you're singing about him."
Your eyes widened in surprise, and then you burst out laughing. Sunghoon felt a pang of hurt, but you quickly reached out and took his hand.
"Oh, Sunghoon," you said, still chuckling, "you're so silly. Jay and I have just been working on a project together. There's nothing romantic going on. I sing that song because it's catchy and fun, not because it reminds me of Jay or anyone else."
Sunghoon felt a wave of relief wash over him, but he still felt a little embarrassed. "I guess I was just being paranoid. It's just that I care about you a lot, and I don't want to lose you."
Your expression softened, and you leaned in to kiss him gently on the lips. "You have nothing to worry about, Sunghoon. You're the only one I feel that 'supernatural' connection with."
He smiled, his heart swelling with affection. "I'm sorry for doubting you."
"It's okay," you said, snuggling closer to him. "Just remember, no song lyrics can ever change how I feel about you."
As you sat together on the couch, Sunghoon felt the last of his worries melt away. He knew that your bond was strong and that nothing — not even a catchy song — could come between you. And with you by his side, he felt more connected than ever, truly experiencing something supernatural.
-
Sunghoon wakes up to the soft hum of a song playing from his phone. Groggily, he reaches out to turn off the alarm, but he’s surprised to see you sitting on the edge of the bed, smiling brightly.
"Good morning, Sunghoon!" you say cheerfully, leaning in to give him a quick kiss on the forehead.
"Good morning," he replies, a bit confused but happy to see you. "What’s going on?"
"I have a surprise for you," you say, your eyes twinkling with excitement. "Get dressed and pack a bag. We’re going on a little adventure."
His curiosity piqued, Sunghoon gets up and quickly gets ready. You help him pack, making sure he brings everything he’ll need for a couple of days. He keeps asking questions, but you just smile and tell him to wait and see.
Once you're both ready, you grab his hand and lead him outside, where a car is waiting. "Our ride is here," you say, opening the door for him.
As the car drives off, Sunghoon looks at you with a mixture of excitement and curiosity. "Where are we going?"
"You’ll see," you reply, holding his hand. "Just enjoy the ride."
After a couple of hours, the car pulls up to a beautiful, cozy cabin nestled in the mountains. The view is breathtaking, with lush greenery and a serene lake nearby. Sunghoon’s eyes widen in surprise.
"Welcome to our little getaway," you say, stepping out of the car. "I booked this cabin for us. We have the next two days all to ourselves."
Sunghoon is speechless for a moment, then he wraps his arms around you, lifting you off the ground in a tight hug. "This is amazing, Y/N. Thank you so much."
You laugh, hugging him back. "I’m glad you like it. Let’s go inside and get settled."
The cabin is even more beautiful on the inside, with a warm, rustic charm. You’ve already stocked the fridge with his favorite foods, and there’s a cozy fireplace with a stack of firewood ready to go.
For the rest of the day, you and Sunghoon explore the area, taking a hike along the scenic trails and enjoying the fresh mountain air. You have a picnic by the lake, complete with all of Sunghoon’s favorite snacks. As the sun begins to set, you head back to the cabin, where you cook dinner together, laughing and talking as you prepare the meal.
After dinner, you light a fire in the fireplace and snuggle up on the couch with a blanket. Sunghoon looks at you, his eyes filled with gratitude and love. "This is perfect, Y/N. I can’t believe you planned all this."
You smile, leaning your head on his shoulder. "I wanted to do something special for you. You deserve it."
Sunghoon kisses the top of your head, holding you close. "Thank you. This is the best surprise ever."
The next morning, you wake up to the sound of birds chirping outside. Sunghoon is still asleep, looking peaceful and content. You quietly get out of bed and make breakfast, wanting to surprise him one last time. When he wakes up, he finds a delicious spread of pancakes, fruit, and coffee waiting for him.
"This is amazing," he says, sitting down at the table. "You’ve thought of everything."
You sit down across from him, smiling. "I just wanted to make sure you had the best time."
For the next two days, you and Sunghoon enjoy every moment of your getaway. You hike, swim in the lake, and spend hours talking by the fireplace. It’s a perfect escape from the world, and you both cherish the time together.

behold, a lab grown asshole thrown back in time ref! a decent one!
Name: Khan A.
►doesn’t ever give his last name. He’ll make something new up every time.
Pronouns: he/him
Age: late 20s, he tries not to think about it too much. It’s depressing for him to realize the time he’s lost to being experimented on and the time he lost to spend with his former human family.
Biology: human/houndoom/hydreigon mashup- and not a fun kind. Human at his base, he was altered in a lab to have houdoom and hydreigon characteristics. He received pain and anger along with them.
Personality: Generally aggressive, reckless, and rather an asshole. He loves fighting and battling as it helps relieve the heightened aggression he got from being experimented on. Very much morally gray. Wouldn’t hesitate to kill someone unless he likes them, and even then he still might try. Oddly self-aware. Loud and surprisingly protective over a handful of people. Also incredibly artsy- he loves working with his hands and carving things.
History: Now that he knows it, he tries not to think about it.
TLDR
►Got yeeted back to Hisui after trying to fist fight Arceus for allowing Khan to be experimented on
►Arceus tried to fudge his memories to calm him down, but instead of fudging them it 100% cleared them since Khan’s friend in present-time was already fudging his memories
►With all his memories returned, Khan realized how much he’d been lied to and who he had hurt. He went on a rampage where he was dropped off (middle of nowhere- either in the Coastlands or the Highlands, but far away from people) and then passed out. When he woke up he wandered, occasionally having another fit of rage. When he discovered signs of human settlement he intentionally avoided them, not feeling like slaughtering a bunch of people (didn’t realize he was yeeted to the past yet)
►It took him a couple weeks to run across humans. He tried to approach them friendly like but they spotted his horns & fangs and ran in the other direction. Which kinda sucked, ‘cause Khan had questions, but also they dropped food and he was hungry so. Win some, lose some!
►Eventually realized he wasn’t welcome in any human settlement due to his obvious pokemon traits- namely the horns, but also the fangs. After some debate with himself he decided to break off his horns. He was dealing with some severe hunger and his clothes were getting raggedy af. Breaking off his horns was surprisingly upsetting for him and he ended up having a breakdown once they were off his head. He tied them together with some twine and held onto them.
►Ran into some Ginkgo Guild members who were willing to trade with him after he hid the remains of his horns as his hair wasn’t grown out yet. He got a fresh set of clothes from them in exchange for some materials he’d collected. He noticed that they eyed his broken-off horns and tucked them away.
►Eventually made it into Jubilife, got a new set of clothes, and left. He traveled around a bit, getting the hang of Hisui, before returning to Jubilife with goods for the merchants. Was in and out a fair bit to get people used to him. Noticed the younger survey members and was struck by how much they reminded him of his siblings.
►At one point he overheard a Jubilife resident begging a survey corps member to retrieve her son’s remains. The survey corps member had to refuse and Khan stepped up instead. After retrieving the body he began to be approached by people looking to recover the bodies of their loved ones, or some lost belongings, or simply specific items that other people couldn’t get due to location or pokemon proximity. As long as they don’t ask questions to how he recovers the items or bodies, it’s all good.
►Vaguely recognizes Ingo. He never interacted with him personally but he was aware that he was missing before Khan was yeeted back. Ingo’s one of the people Khan keeps an eye on, supposedly because if Ingo finds a way back that means Khan should find a way back too... right? Not at all because Ingo’s a very slight memory of home and something that Khan wants to hold onto. As Khan accidentally bonded with Lady Sneasler as a friend, he sees a fair bit of Ingo and is surprisingly polite to the Warden.
►Is protective over Akari and Rei. He sees them as his younger siblings and is fully willing to put himself in the line of fire for them. The first time he actually met them was when he saw them being mobbed by a mass outbreak of pokemon in the field. He literally fist-fought the outbreak while they used their pokemon and then said he was just that badass when they asked him how he did it. He doesn’t mention the fact they’re like siblings to him to anyone, lest someone try to take advantage of it.
►Khan doesn’t really have a pokemon ‘team’ per se, but he does have a group of pokemon that he accidentally collected. He protects them and they protect him. His first was a shiny Chansey he calls Nana after his friend. He rescued a Porygon in a space-time rift and accidentally adopted it, and then accidentally evolved it. He calls it Duck. The last part of his ‘team’ is a Hisuian Growlithe that he stumbled across while it mourned its partner. Empathy ain’t a big thing for Khan, but the Growlithe that had died was a shiny and again reminded him of Nana. He helped the Growlithe bury it’s partner and it decided to take up with him afterwards. They all provide help with his recovery work in some way or another, as well as providing companionship. He accidentally bonded with Lady Sneasler over gossip and climbing- she’s willing to help him out when there are cliffs he can’t climb. He doesn’t speak her language but he gets the gist.
►Khan doesn’t reside in any settlements. He’s figured out how they feel about zorua and zoroark and has no desire to be accidentally found out as part pokemon himself as he knows the fallout will be bad on all accounts. He’ll take jobs when he goes into town or either of the settlements, but he always leaves in order to sleep.
►Thinks Giratina has a point tbh. Finds Volo sketchy, but finds most of the Ginkgo Guild sketchy. Is scared of Lady Cogita. Bullies Melli because he thinks it’s funny to watch him get flustered and try to talk himself up.
►Actively seeks out alpha pokemon for fights when he notices his aggression getting higher. Hasn’t yet revealed his own pokemon nature to anyone. Can use a handful of moves that both Hydreigon and Houdoom can use, but doing so results in extreme fatigue and leaves him in pain after. He still does it because he enjoys fighting too much.
