Reformulated hot take: It's okay to like monsters not being perfect sweethearts or even good, moral people, it's just fantasy.
(Hi I'm anon from before)
oh that might be like the opposite of what i thought you were talking abt? but yea i would say even in a romantic context its more the norm for monstery characters to be at least somewhere in the moral gray area. or at least thats my preference anyway lol.
i will say i kinda personally dislike "its just fantasy" as a way to talk abt this. its a bit of a pet peeve thing but like. how can anything be just fantasy, just fiction, just a story? the fantasy is everything! morally complex or even villainous characters arent simply acceptable because theyre fictional and therefor dont mean anything, theyre significant because theyre fictional which means someone thought of them and made them and put value into them, not in spite of their monstrosity but because of it! because something in them was drawn to that monstrosity, whether to decry it or glorify it or both or neither, because they wanted someone to see it and feel what they did, and they did! isnt it wonderful! isnt it terrible! to look at something and understand it to be a monster and to ask yourself why!

☕️ death note should have had a maid cafe arc
☕ Ahahaha. An entire arc, eh? Interesting concept... Would L be a regular patron at one and awkwardly force Light to go to their tennis/coffee date interrogation at it with him? Would Misa start working at one undercover for some weird reason in the Yotsuba arc? The possibilities boggle the mind... I'll mildly agree with you there

☕️ Reblogging shouldn’t be forced. Only share content you want to share
I agree! Blogging should be done for your own enjoyment not pressure.
Majority of ccs self reblog their stuff with the thought that there might be others out there that would want to share said content. Ccs urge people to reblog stuff they like because it helps the sharing of the content and shows appreciation HOWEVER you should never let someone guilt trip you into reblogging something if you really don't want to. You should also never feel pressured to reblog everything a cc makes. Only reblog those things you like.

Unpopular opinion: Cowboy like me is a skip. I’ve never liked it that much so I was so confused when everyone started raving about it. I think the lyrics and the story are good (but not amazing) but the melody is so eh to me and her voice sounds so flat on lines like “forever is the sweetest con.” Every now and again I listen to it again to see if maybe this time I’ll get what all the hype is about but so far nope 🤷🏻‍♀️
ooh that is controversial! i respect your opinion but i have to say i disagree because it's one of my favourites from evermore (it was my #4 most played song in 2021)

Okay but hear me out. What if the person Filomena has a crush on is Ariadne???? My girl needs to have someone love her and understand her and I just dont know if Anna can ever do that? ☕ I guess this counts?
Tumblr media
BROOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN HEARD!!! I NEVER EVEN THOUGHT OF THAT!!! YES! YES! PLEASE!? THAT WOULD BE-
Tumblr media
It would be great. Then they can end up together and be, quite possibly, the best, most kick-ass couple in all of literature.
Yes. :)
She does need to be loved endlessly 😪
And yeah, they definitely would understand each other more then Anna ever could with Ariadne.

Mercedes and Fernand loved each other in Gankutsuou, it wasn't just settling or being possessive.
Is this an ask related to the "send me a ☕️ and an opinion (popular or unpopular) and i’ll say whether i agree or disagree" post?
I'll have to disagree with your statement. It's been years since I last watched Gankutsuou so my memories of it are a little blurry, but while Fernand's possessive love for Mercedes could have become a genuine, healthy love over time, I don't think Mercedes reciprocated those feelings. She's still very much in love with Edmond and I got the impression that she was politely putting up with Fernand at best. In France (and it was definitively truer in the 19th century, which is when the original Count of Monte Cristo novel was written), social hypocrisy is kind of a Big Thing, especially for rich and/or aristocratic families, so of course Mercedes would pretend she and Fernand are a happy couple, even though it might not be true

☕ okay I'll start with a big one you can disagree with me all you want, I know I'm the only one to think that x) Ashoka's character is not a very good addition to Anakin's story and the fact that we never saw her in any movies reinforce that fact. She's basically a glorified OC
hard disagree 😂 I’d need a whole essay to disagree with this - I like that Anakin had a padawan whose departure added to his isolation, but I like Ahsoka on her own. I like that she and Barriss are the embodiment of two ways the Jedi failed and how Ahsoka grows from that. I don’t like characters (especially female characters) being described as OC’s as if it’s a negative thing.

Unpopular opinion: gonna get shit for this, but Rhysand isnt as great as Maas and the fandom makes him out to be. His views on women is very inconsistent - he's written to be a feminist yet he goes oh its ok for elain not to help feyre bc elain is elain but nesta's a bitch for that etc. He's also written as a male mary sue which makes him honestly bland and boring. His relationship with feyre is written as healthy, yes, but perfect and completely unrealistic - running out of words, so i'll stop
huh this is a hot take and i genuinely see where you’re coming from. a lot of my issues with elain stem from everyone else’s excuses for her actions - ESPECIALLY the line “elain is elain,” which is said by rhys. i also think that feminism in general is....weirdly represented in sjm’s books. some aspects are very empowering (feyres storyline in particular) while others are?? extremely questionable (mors arc). i think the fault in rhys’s feminism isnt him in particular but rather sjm’s own inconsistency manifesting, but again, i get what you mean. however i really dont see rhys as the male equivalent of a mary sue.
a mary sue is a seemingly perfect character with no flaws, but we see time and time again that rhys has flaws aplenty. he crosses the line, he gets angry, he acts irrationally. acofas gets a lot of shit but i genuinely appreciated the way that rhys isnt portrayed as a saint when he goes to see tamlint in spring court. if he was written as perfectly as a mary sue is supposed to, he would’ve been stupidly kind to tamlint rather than kicking him while he was down.
feyre and rhys are lucky to have their mating bond to help with their relationship, but i wouldnt go so far as to call it perfect! you can see it in the beginning, especially, when theyre enemies turned allies and then they very slowly become friends as rhys gains feyres trust. feyre also BAILS when she realizes that theyre mates, and as someone whose fight or flight instinct gets triggered when im confronted with difficult emotional situations, that shit hit hard. i think its also important to keep in mind the fact that the books are written from feyres pov, so our evaluation of their relationship is extremely biased, because we see it through her lens.
anyways this was all just a really long way of saying i disagree LMAO sorry for the essay

this probs classifies as unpopular op but i don't think it's entirely fans' fault they feel defensive and sht when their fave idols start dating. i mean if we look at how ggs and bgs are marketed as fans' gfs and bfs with them often calling us their gfs and bfs and doing all of those flirty romantic fan service things and what not. like i know i'll never be these ppls gf but i still feel a bit sad bc i'm taught to feel that way bc of the things they do as a part of their job to be more appealing
i can kinda see what you mean so i agree a little bit on that!but at the same time, it all comes down to being realistic. there’s 103232 fans and only 1 idol. its absolutely unrealistic to think that they will date you when you’re 1) not physically close to them and 2) have only interacted with them for like a single minute at max. in my opinion, an idol’s job is the same as a customer service representative. from personal experience, in customer service, if someone comes at you all flirty of course you can turn them down but then you have an image to carry, a product to sell, a company name behind you, and all of that will be affected if you make a customer feel, for a lack of better words, bad. you’re supposed to attract the customer to you and make them feel valued. i’m sure you have seen at least on tv where ppl at stores flirt with ugly old men to make them spend more money lol to me its kinda like that? not saying fans are ugly old men but its the idea that you have to appeal to others.also this isn’t like me saying that idols don’t care for fans bc i feel like what i just said is exactly how fans feel when dating news breaks out, they feel as if they’re just used for their money. but once again, its about being realistic. they obviously need fans to buy their stuff but that doesn’t mean their sole idol life is that. they’re working hard to put out things for your enjoyment. they work practice hard every single day not just for their own benefit, but to give back to those who support them. and their words of endearment to their fans aren’t just said for the sake of saying it, its said because fans are the ones who give them the positivity and encouragement and fans are the ones who connect with them thru their artistry. so… its like customer service but on a more intimate level?? the fans feel very connect to idols and idols feel very connected to fans but it’s on two different levels those connections are, but in the same game.so… yes i agree that it can’t be helped to feel a little disappointed when idols dating bc like you said, they do a lot of fanservice and that triggers certain feelings in people. to me, its a bit like watching the crush that like barely knew you existed, date someone else. it is a little bit dampening but at the same time, looking at the bigger picture, the chances of the outcome being on your side is just kinda…. unrealistic.

here’s my opinion
writers don’t own shit to any of us, they can write whatever they want and put reader or the character in question to be however they want them to and no one should be allowed to say anything at all, you’re being kind enough to put tw and a summary of the fic.
you think the NON EXISTENT character isn’t acting as him/herself? go read other fic
you don’t like reader being so innocent and pure? go read other fic
there’s plenty of fics for all kind of likes, leave writers alone i beg you
YESS I totally agree. I think the best part about the fanfiction writing community when I was apart of it is that there really is something for everyone. it's very important to respect everyone because like you said, it's a fictional character. I would just roll my eyes any time some drama started within a fandom over things people were writing. as someone who can't read a lot of things that have heavy trigger warnings I simply scroll and mind my business. and it's not that hard to do
